DHL Will Soon Be Making Parcel Deliveries Via Drone
DHL Will Soon Be Making Parcel Deliveries Via Drone

The age of the postman is all but over with the latest drone technology slowly encroaching into everyday life. With Amazon already trialling their shopping delivery service via drone, DHL have also jumped on board with a serious focus on saving lives.

Parcelcopter is DHL’s answer to delivering sizeable packages to people in the most remote spaces where cars and rail lines cannot access. The technology has been in the testing phase for the past three months with repeat deliveries being made to a snow-massed region in Bavaria, Germany.

The drone itself will be capable of flying larger or multiple packages due to its sizeable length of over two metres and a weight of just 2kg. Delivery time is also a major hurdle that DHL appear to have overcome with the Parcelcopter able to reach 70km/h.

All parcels are protected and enclosed within the craft’s storage compartment and the only way the mail will get lost is if the drone crashes. DHL will continue to trial the drone in numerous isolated locations before it officially sees postman duties.

What Makes The Perfect Burger (It's Simpler Than You Think)
What Makes The Perfect Burger (It's Simpler Than You Think)

Nick Solares – the man who showed us what the world’s most expensive steak tastes like and taught us how a Michelin-starred chef makes a hamburger – is back with another video for your inner carnivore.

In the latest episode of The Meat Show, Solares is on the hunt for the perfect burger. His quest brings him to a Dallas steakhouse called Knife for a taste of their “Ozersky Burger” — a tribute to Nick’s dear friend, acclaimed food writer and avid meat lover Josh Ozersky, who died a year ago at the age of 47.

Though Solares has tasted his fair share of fanciful creations, the Ozersky Burger is remarkably simple: American cheese, red onion, a white bun, and, of course, a glorious circle of beef.

“Josh Ozersky was one of the giants of hamburgers and of meat-cooking and meat-eating,” says Solares. “It is a testament to his life and to everything that he thought was fantastic about the American cheeseburger.”

Watch the video above to see exactly what goes in to the world’s tastiest eulogy.

Samsung Unveils A Revolutionary Home Theatre Experience In Australia
Samsung Unveils A Revolutionary Home Theatre Experience In Australia

When high definition simply isn’t enough to quell the growing demands of a well-seasoned media junkie, it’s time to step up the game. Samsung Australia today showed off its latest range of home entertainment products including their much hyped Quantum dot displays fresh from CES 2016.

More than just a fancy name, the Quantum dot display TVs are a serious leap forward in consumer viewing technology. They boast some seriously advanced colour replicating credentials and impeccably fine detail to produce true to life images.

The Quantum dot display technology itself uses an innovative manufacturing process that employs nano particles (really small stuff) which light up a different colour when exposed to a UV backlight. This means that every individual nano particle in the screen has its own colour frequency, hence producing a picture that is both fine and retaining of the full colour spectrum. In simpler terms, it’s basically like being in the same room as your subject.

The new TVs retain Samsung’s curved-concave design which drastically alleviates dodgy viewing angles and glare in any lighting level. Paired with this is a 360-degree design which sees the TVs mounted on a svelte metallic stand with built in cable hiders to satisfy both the premium aesthetic and functional demands of a modern couch potato.

Carl Rose who is the VP of consumer electronics for Samsung Australia said that the reasoning behind this surge in new technology has been a long time coming.

“The way Australians experience home television has evolved dramatically in terms of viewing habits and access to on-demand or streaming services. With the arrival of technologies like HDR, and access to 4K Blu-ray discs, this launch comes at an important time for the industry.”

To accommodate and streamline the vast array of today’s content across various platforms (Netflix, Stan, Presto, PS4, Xbox and more), Samsung have moved fast to integrate their latest TVs with the new Smart Hub operating system.

Pre-programmable inputs allows the new Samsung TVs to seamlessly switch between platforms at the press of a button. The software, paired with Samsung’s latest One Remote control which takes over every peripheral device (set top box, gaming consoles, home theatre units) allows for a much easier and smoother way to experience today’s entertainment.

To complement the latest range of TVs, Samsung have also released their first ever Ultra HD 4K Blu-ray player which will allow Australians to watch the latest in high-definition movies. We’re talking four times the resolution of standard Blu-ray films.

Pricing for the Samsung SUHD Quantum dot display televisions will start from AU$3,599 for the 55-inch model and go all the way to AU$10,999 for the towering 75-inch model.

Which Sydney Chef Will Win The Ramen Wars This Weekend?

If you’re a fan of ramen (who isn’t?) the stakes for the best bowl of noodles are about to reach a new level when two Sydney chefs go head-to-head this weekend at the Ramen Wars.

Ex-Noma chef alumni Sam Miller and his sous chef Tom Halpin will go up against Master’s John Javier who has previously lent his talents to Momofuku and Quay at Salaryman’s Ramen Wars this Sunday the 15th of May in Surry Hills.

Miller is said to be dishing up smoked eel and ox tongue broth, while Javier is remaining rather tight-lipped about his ramen creation, only revealing that he will be featuring traditional Asian flavours.

The best bit? The competing ramen bowls will be judged by you, the noodle-loving punter. If you consider yourself a ramen connoisseur of sorts lend your skills to the Ramen Wars this Sunday at Salaryman from 3pm – 8pm, with tickets available for $60 per person, which includes a complimentary cocktail and dessert. Clarkson, Hammond & May Car Show Finally Gets A Name
Clarkson, Hammond & May Car Show Finally Gets A Name

It mightn’t have the same exciting ring to it as Top Gear, but the boys over at Amazon are assuring audiences that their new motoring show, The Grand Tour, will do things differently by taking its renowned exploits abroad.

BBC detractors Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond today unveiled the name of their streaming show, adding that each episode will take place in a different country. This announcement comes closely after the debut of the revamped Top Gear trailer hosted by Chris Evans, Matt LeBlanc and more.

Those who want to watch the premiere of The Grand Tour will need to have Amazon Prime whilst live audiences can get their tickets through prize draws. The goal of the new show is to differentiate itself from the Top Gear studio format. What the trio do have on their side is Top Gear’s long-time producer Andy Wilman who also left the BBC to join Clarkson and co.

In a statement for the name reveal, Clarkson said: “We’ll be travelling the world hosting each episode in a different country. It’s sort of a ‘grand tour’, if you like. So we’ve decided to call it ‘The Grand Tour’.”

Naturally, the banter flowed through from the co-hosts. “I wanted to call it ‘Nigel’, or ‘Roger,'” said May. “We needed a name, and they’re names.”

Hammond was more positive about the new name adding, “I already love camping, but this is something else”.

“We are like our pioneering and prospecting forebears, sallying forth into a new frontier of broadcasting.”

We’ll keep you guys posted if a trailer pops up.

Samsung Galaxy Surfboard Keeps You Connected On The Waves
Samsung Galaxy Surfboard Keeps You Connected On The Waves

Given that surfers escape the world of overbearing technology by taking to the seas, we’re not too sure how well a connected surfboard will fair with them.

Nonetheless, Samsung are never ones to just let technology slip through the cracks of life and so comes the Samsung Galaxy Surfboard. It is exactly what you think it is: A surfboard with an integrated LCD screen which has a slot that connects to your Galaxy S7 smart phone to provide real time swell updates, notifications and weather.

The wildly innovative project was brought to life by Leo Burnett and Johnny Cabianca and took almost two years to complete. Don’t get your credit cards out just yet though, the Galaxy surfboard is purely a concept at the moment however Brazilian surfer Gabriel Medina did manage to break it in before it got taken back to R&D.

If the product does come to fruition, expect people to quite literally be Tinder surfing.

Aquascutum Recreate Humphrey Bogart's Iconic Trench Coat
Aquascutum Recreate Humphrey Bogart's Iconic Trench Coat

It’s getting considerably cooler in parts of the Southern Hemisphere which means it’s time to invest in classic outerwear pieces to see you through the season ahead. The most classic of them all? The trench coat, of course.

Every man of style knows the importance of investing in a good trench coat. One of those men is none other than legendary Hollywood hero Humphrey Bogart. From his white tuxedo in Casablanca to his penchant for hand-crafted hats, Bogart was an expert in all elements of classic style, and most iconic in a trench coat.

Thanks to a five-year deal with the Bogart Estate, you can recreate Bogie’s casually belted look with Aquascutum’s range of trench coats. Bogart’s favourite style was The Kingsway, a long and slightly looser cut with raglan sleeves and internal newspaper pocket, but for the remake, Aquascutum have included a waterproof cotton-blend fabric and other subtle updates to bring the classic style into modernity.

“My main mission at the Humphrey Bogart Estate is to honour and protect my father’s legacy,” said Bogart’s son Stephen Humphrey Bogart. “My father was a loyal Aquascutum customer – perhaps the most iconic trench-coat-wearer in history. I think he’d be honoured that Aquascutum wants to partner with us to launch The Bogart Trench Coat.”

You can get your sticky fingers on a Bogart Trench Coat in camel and navy if you pre-order online at Aquascutum. The iconic coat will be available in selected stores from May 24 for £850.

A Manhattan Apartment Inspired By Tom Ford And Halston
A Manhattan Apartment Inspired By Tom Ford And Halston

When a client requested interiors inspired by Tom Ford and Halston, Messana O’Rorke knew exactly what to do. The firm transformed this Manhattan apartment into a sleek and dramatic residence designed for entertaining.

The dark, masculine colour palette is one of the apartment’s stand-out features. Rich black and greys are used in every room, creating a sense of cohesion. A reclaimed oak floor is stained dark and set in a chevron pattern. Undulating Kenya Black stone is used for the kitchen counter and backsplash. Black lacquer cabinets continue the theme and reflect the city views.

To ensure the moody hues don’t feel oppressive or shrink the space, original walls were removed to create an open floor plan. Pops of colour are wielded sparingly but deftly. Occasional instances of wood, metal, and leather add texture and interest worthy of the great designers who inspired them.
