Then oh boy, do I have a fun game for you — let’s figure out what kind of apathy you have.While scientists observe apathy or a “reduction in motivation” as a symptom of some brain disorders, they don’t have a metric for measuring it in healthy people. A team of scientists from the University College London and the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom plan to solve that problem with the perfect tool for us lazies: An Apathy-Motivation Index (AMI). The researchers divided apathy up into three different flavours: Behavioural, social and emotional.

Behavioural activation refers to your ability to accomplish some goal on your own, without a reminder. Social motivation means taking part in social interactions, for instance, initiating a conversation. Finally, emotional sensitivity means expressing “feelings of positive and negative affection,” according to the study published in the journal PLoS ONE today.The researchers also compared their scale to other existing depression or fatigue scales. More behavioural and social apathy (meaning less behavioural activation and social motivation) correlated with higher depression scores, but those with more emotional apathy (less emotional sensitivity) tended to receive lower depression scores.The new apathy scale joins the many other metrics that exist to measure the behaviour of healthy individuals. Of course, if you actually think you’re suffering from a clinical disorder, you should go ahead and talk to your doctor, not sit here and take a quiz you found on a blog.But come on, let’s get to the fun part — calculating our own apathy scores!Below are the 18 questions divided into three sections. For each question, give yourself a score between zero and four, where zero is “completely true”, one is “quite true”, two is “neither true or untrue”, three is “mostly untrue” and four is “completely untrue”. Take your average for each section to get a score for each apathy subscale — the higher your score, the more apathetic you are. Compete with your friends! Or don’t, I don’t really care.

Emotional Sensitivity

1. I feel sad or upset when I hear bad news.
2. After making a decision, I will wonder if I have made the wrong choice.
3. Based on the last two weeks, I would say I care deeply about how my loved ones think of me.
4. I feel awful if I say something insensitive.
5. I feel bad when I hear an acquaintance has an accident or illness.
6. If I realise I have been unpleasant to someone, I will feel terribly guilty afterwards.

Social Motivation

1. I start conversations with random people.
2. I enjoy doing things with people I have just met.
3. I suggest activities for me and my friends to do.
4. I go out with friends on a weekly basis.
5. I start conversations without being prompted.
6. I enjoy choosing what to do from a range of activities.

Behavioural Activation

1. I make decisions firmly and without hesitation.
2. When I decide to do something, I am able to make an effort easily.
3. When I have something I need to do, I do it straightaway so it is out of the way.
4. I get things done when they need to be done, without requiring reminders from others.
5. When I decide to do something, I am motivated to see it through to the end.
6. I don’t like to laze around.

Announced today from Miami, the Lexus Sport Yacht concept does come with some bad news. Firstly you can’t buy one since there’s only one example in the form of a bespoke one-off creation.

Powering the beautiful water beast are twin 5.0-litre V8s taken straight out of the GS F which brings the total power output to a sturdy 885hp. Miami Vice wouldn’t know what hit it. Just don’t call it a Toyota. Watch the video below to see it in action.

Terra firma museums are so 2016. In Europe patrons can now find the freshly opened Museo Atlántico, an underwater museum in the Spanish Canary Islands off the coast of Lanzarote.

Created by British environmental sculptor Jason deCaires Taylor, the exhibition features life-sized sculptures carved from pH-neutral materials which can exist in unison with the existing marine life (besides looking cool).

What’s even better is that the sculptures also double as large scale artificial reefs.

“Pieces of the exhibition, installed in February 2016, have already enjoyed visits from angel sharks, shoals of barracuda, sardines, octopus, marine sponges, and a butterfly stingray,” reported EuroNews.

“I hope that the Museo Atlántico of Lanzarote represents an entry point to a different world and promotes a better understanding of our precious marine environment and of how much we depend on it.”

The museum will be open on January 10 and it already looks to be a favourite amongst the adventurous art lovers.

Nurburgring

The 20km track throws up some of the most challenging tarmac in the world with undulating corners, varying road surfaces and high speed sections that will cater perfectly to those with balls of steel. A fast car also helps. The Nurburgring is a public road which is frequented by those who want to get from point A to point B. Fast.

Pikes Peak Hill Climb

The race to the sky has seemingly been the proving ground for some of the world’s most insane drivers with equally willing cars. The 20km course begins at sea level and elevates over its course, making it harder for cars to breathe with thinner air. All of that is part of the fun along with the challenging terrain which sees a mix of dirt and tarmac testing drivers to the limit at break-neck speed. And since it’s a public road owned by the US Forest Service, anyone can drive on it as long as it’s not race day.

Isle Of Man

The world’s most talented and daring riders take to the Isle of Man every year for a spectacle that can only be seen to be believed. Superbikes ridden by veteran racers tackle this island circuit which snakes through the small township’s main roads before breaking out into open scenery with speeds easily hitting 300km/h – on two wheels. Like the other circuits, Isla of Man is open to public driving when there are race events on.

Marina Bay Street Circuit

One of the most dazzling races on the Formula One calendar is arguably the bright lights of the Marina Bay Circuit in Singapore. On race weekend the roads are lit up like it’s NYE as car’s roar past amongst the glitz and glamour. Once the race dies down, the surrounding roads and circuit return to its rightful city as a public thoroughfare.

Circuit de Monaco

Glamour, prestige and history. This pretty much sums up the legendary Monaco circuit which has a much heritage as it does money pumping through it. When race day is on hiatus, the streets of Monaco return to its residents who can trace the track and go through the tunnel filled with war paint of decades’ racing.

Circuit de la Sarthe

The famous 24 Hours of Le Mans wouldn’t be what it is today without the generosity of local roads which help make up this legendary 13km track. Parts of the road are open to the public on non-race days, providing ample opportunity to do your own laps for 24 hours to see if you’ve got what it takes. FYI you probably don’t.

In what could well be a sign of classic watches moving into the digital medium, OMEGA have released a special edition Speedmaster timepiece to celebrate a hashtag handle.

This is not just any hashtag handle though. Robert-Jan Broer came up with the #SpeedyTuesday handle back in 2012 as a means of getting watch aficionados to post up their Speedmaster Chronograph watches on platforms such as Instagram.

Since then it’s been a mainstay for both OMEGA and fans of its Speedmaster model which was made famous as Buzz Aldrin’s Moonwatch – the first watch to ever reach the moon in 1969.

As a celebration of 5th anniversary of #SpeedyTuesday, OMEGA have released 2012 exclusive pieces of the latest Speedmaster which borrows design cues from the 1978 Alaska Project III watch which was specifically crafted designed for NASA.

Details of the watch includes a Reverse Panda dial design that first appeared on OMEGA’s watches in 1966 and complemented by plexiglass, Arabic numerals with luminescent coating and ringed sub dials. The 42mm stainless steel case houses the manually-wound caliber 1861 movement which affords a 48 hour power reserve.

Flip the watch around and you’ll be greeted with a special engraving which reads “SPEEDY TUESDAY ANNIVERSARY – A TRIBUTE TO ALASKA PROJECT III” along with the limited edition number.

If versatility is a requisite of buying habits then the Speedmaster also satisfies this department with the accompaniment of a brown leather strap and black and white NATO strap complete with #SpeedyTuesday engraving. A strap changing tool, cleaning cloth and carrying pouch also comes with the package which retails for a cool US$6,500.

Keen? You’re too late. All 2012 pieces have already been spoken for.

Bentley are continuing their quest to create the world’s fastest sedan and they may just have succeeded with their latest Continental Supersports.

The English grand tourer complete with four seats will come with a host of upgrades in 2017. Most notably is the 6.0-litre turbocharged W12 engine which now outputs 700hp and 1,016Nm of torque to induce the kind of speeds never before witnessed in a big luxury vehicle. Think demolishing the 0-100km/h sprint in just 3.4 seconds and you’re on the money.

Helping the car move is a torque vectoring system which sends power to whichever wheel needs it but not before the updated twin turbochargers which deliver the extra boost needed from the car. Inside the Continental Supersports it’s still a luxury affair. Red and black leather dominates the diamond silhouettes including diamond quilted Alcantara seats and door inserts. The dash itself wears chequered detailing to allude to its sporting nature.
