The best quarterback of all time, and the most legendary pilot’s watch of all time? We’re not talking about Matthew Stafford’s Rolex Sky-Dweller here: we’re talking about none other than TB12, and his latest horological flex.
Tom Brady‘s well-known for his love of timepieces, his collection containing everything from Rolex Milgausses to Audemars Piguet Royal Oaks, as well as pieces from brands he’s endorsed: previously a brand ambassador for TAG Heuer, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback signed a deal with IWC Schaffhausen last year.
Brady was a fan of the prestigious Swiss brand before he inked his endorsement deal, however – notably spotted with a black Pilot Worldtimer on his wrist whilst he was still with TAG. Now that he’s (presumably) got access to whatever IWCs he wants, he’s been stepping out in fancy Portugieser Chronographs and Tourbillons. But his latest choice is his smartest yet, in both senses of the word.
Overnight, Brady shared a snap of him and his personal trainer Alex Guerrero on Instagram, celebrating three years since the release of his book The TB12 Method: How to Achieve a Lifetime of Sustained Peak Performance. Clearly in a good mood, Brady’s wearing what we reckon is his favourite timepiece: his IWC Big Pilot Boutique Rodeo Drive Limited Edition – perhaps the most beautiful and underrated rendition of this horological classic ever made.

Released in 2016 to commemorate IWC opening a boutique on the eponymous Los Angeles street, the Rodeo Drive Big Pilot features a unique 46mm ceramic case combined with a brilliant blue dial in the ultimate expression of Swiss-American style. A highly coveted model, we certainly appreciate Brady’s taste.
Both Brady and IWC share a New England connection: Florentine Ariosto Jones, the founder of IWC, was a master watchmaker from New Hampshire who became so enamoured with Swiss watchmaking craftsmanship that he decided to cross the Atlantic and manufacture watches in Europe, founding the International Watch Company of Schaffhausen in Switzerland’s German-speaking northeast in 1868.
Tom Brady spent the first 20 seasons of his career with the New England Patriots, playing in nine Super Bowls and winning six of them – the most of any player in NFL history.
But in the same way that IWC owes much to its American heritage, Brady’s a Californian native at heart – making this ‘West Coast classic’ Rodeo Drive Big Pilot a perfect choice for the jet-setting football player. The azure blue is a beautiful reference to the gorgeous Californian coastline (and of course, harkens back to the colours of Brady’s old team). Brady clearly loves the watch, having previously shared a candid on-wrist shot of it on his Instagram Story earlier last week.
Originally launched in 2002, the Big Pilot is perhaps the most recognisable IWC watch. Its most noticeable feature is its uniquely-shaped, oversized crown, designed to be easily manipulated by pilots wearing gloves flying open-air. Super masculine, highly legible and impeccably crafted, the Big Pilot is a favourite of watch collectors around the globe.
Rodeo Drive is one of Los Angeles’ most famous streets. A two-mile-long boulevard that connects Beverly Hills to the centre of the city, the street is known for its many luxury stores – the LA equivalent of Tokyo’s Ginza district, Zürich’s Bahnhofstrasse or New York’s Fifth Avenue.
Originally retailing for 14,700 USD (~20,600 AUD) and limited to only 250 pieces, this ultra-clean Big Pilot is a rare find. There’s only one selling on Chrono24 right now (we wouldn’t want to sell one if we had one either). Brady must have a very generous plug at IWC to track one of these down for him – or maybe he stumped up some serious change to acquire it.
Either way, well played.

Ask any gym junkie what the worst thing about 2020 has been, and they won’t say the bushfires or how difficult dating has become, they’ll probably be mad that their local gym has been forced to close their doors.
For fitness fanatics, COVID-19 has posed an existential threat. Gyms aren’t open, you can’t do group classes with a PT, and face masks are a pain in the arse if you’re huffing and puffing. In short? It’s harder to stay fit, because all normal exercise options have been affected. In particular, our sympathy goes out to those all locked down in Melbourne without home gyms or backyards.
It’s not just our physical health that’s been compromised by The Bat Kiss. The disruption to our routines and reduced social contact has also taken a toll on our mental health. According to The Black Dog Institute, as much as a third of Australians are suffering anxiety or have had their mental health impacted by this pandemic.
Maintaining your physical health is an important part of supporting one’s mental health, too. Indeed, exercise “not only impacts our physical body, but touches every area of our lives. It is a holistic approach that benefits our mental health, mood, social presence, and beyond,” Lucie Bennett, personal trainer and founder of Fitnazz relates.
In light of this fact, Fitness Australia – a not-for-profit industry association that supports the health and fitness industry – is calling on the government to give Aussies more opportunity to access exercise during These Unprecedented Times.
“We understand the importance of limiting community transmission during this second wave outbreak. However, it is vital people be allowed to continue exercise or undertake physical activity daily to help maintain their mental health and wellbeing,” Fitness Australia CEO Barrie Elvish explains.
“People can still exercise safely in their own home, in their local area, and in states and territories where gyms are open provided they follow strict social distancing and hygiene practices.”
“In fact, with the right protocols in place, it is Fitness Australia’s position that training with a personal trainer should be allowed under current restrictions in Victoria.”

“As a fitness and health industry organisation our focus is on getting more Australians more active more often, even during COVID-19. While supporting the industry during this time, we are also focused on ensuring everyone continues to exercise regularly for their health and wellbeing – something that is more important now than ever.”
Elvish says the second wave lockdowns and continued uncertainty is impacting many people all over again, leading to a ‘rona-induced fatigue.
“Unfortunately, good decisions have unintentional consequences and in the case of enforced lockdowns and isolation, business shutdowns and job losses the mental health of many Australians has suffered,” Elvish relates.
“For example, calls to Beyond Blue’s support services have risen substantially during COVID-19… Lifeline is receiving a call every 30 seconds and saw a 22% increase in calls origination from Victoria when the recent lockdown was announced.”
Elvish also shares how many PTs have contacted him, concerned for clients who need regular exercise to manage their unique conditions.
“The almost 4 million Australians who have a gym membership know the benefits of exercise in preventing and/or managing a range of physical and mental health issues… They appreciate exercise being a regular part of their daily routine; some certainty in times of upheaval and anxiety. And of course, they enjoy the satisfaction of knowing exercise improves their personal immune system,” he concludes.
Of course, Fitness Australia is an industry body, so they have a vested interest in getting back to business as soon as possible. That said, they raise some valid points.
Fingers crossed things get a little less wild soon and we can all get back to our regular routines.

Instagram is a world of opportunity that largely goes untapped.
It’s also a romantic place, full of bold Mayfair filters and tantalising photos of insta-models out of you league. But what if that weren’t the case?
What if you could not only summon the courage to humiliate yourself, but actually succeed at talking to, flirting with, and asking out one of these divine merchants of good times and detox tea?
Asking on behalf of a friend of a friend, we contacted Simone Holtznagel, an international model with over 105k followers, to find out: (how) can it really be done?
We put her the most common Instagram equation: you’re a nobody with a puny follower count (100 friends, your mum, and a fake account you created for your dog), and you are currently following the girl of your dreams; but she doesn’t follow you.
Your short term goal is to get on her radar and get a “like”. The long term goal is to get a “follow back” (between single studs there’s no such thing as a platonic follow). The dream goal, however, is to show her that you are worth her attention in real-life.
Funnily enough, the answer isn’t dick pics. In fact this was the first ‘strategy’ Simone shot down.
“Dick pics—don’t work. Let’s get that clear. No way, never.”
Also, she says, “That’s not the type of guy you want to be with anyway if he’s sending pictures of his junk to random girls. I personally try to find their mothers on Facebook and forward it on to them.”
According to Simone, if you want your approach to work: don’t just go straight sliding in there. “Do a couple of week’s work, follow them, like pictures, respond to Instagram stories (NOTHING CREEPY).”
Los Angeles based model Ashley Ann concurred. Ashley told DMARGE: “A sense of humour can be one of the most attractive characteristics of a guy, so comments/messages that can bring out a laugh in me always catch my attention in a positive way.”
“On the other hand, try not to be bland, [and never be] degrading or too intrusive.”
As for your tone, “The wittier the better,” Simone adds. Then all you can do is wait, trusting she likes what she sees. “Usually after a while of seeing your name pop up everywhere she will take a look (at your profile)”. So make sure your clever prose isn’t ruined by forgetting to get rid of the bio your drunk friend wrote for you.
And, assuming you get all of that right, your personality (and face) is the limit. So although it’s impossible to put a definitive number on your chances, it could happen.
“I’ve had this happen before, we went out once or twice and that was really it but I’d say that we are friends now.”
So, we’d better report back to that friend of a friend. In the meantime: get sliding!

The term ‘Health Insurance’ is enough to strike fear and confusion in any man’s idyllic way of life. Actually, we lie – it’s probably more boredom than anything.
You’ve probably heard it before but health insurance doesn’t need to be avoided like the plague. It isn’t until you pick up the phone and speak to someone in the know that the dirty word suddenly becomes a little bit more harmless. Still boring, but the reign of fire is definitely gone.
Sort out your future quality of life quick fast with our five-step guide to health insurance. It’s everything you need to know, nothing you don’t.
What Is Health Insurance
In its simplest form, private health insurance cover is a safety net for your body and its wellbeing. In Australia it’s divided into three key areas:
- Hospital cover
- General treatment cover (also known as ancillary or extras cover)
- Ambulance cover
When exactly a man will need this service is dependent entirely on his lifestyle, but there are cases where accidents can occur when things are out of your control – such as getting hit by a car (Pokemon GO players take note).
In such an inconvenient scenario, private health insurance can give members their choice of public or private hospital as well as their choice of doctor. Whilst Medicare will cover a lot of the basic hospital expenses, private health insurance kicks in to supplement things such as extended hospital accommodation, drugs and additional doctor’s fees.
For general treatment cover, private health insurance offers up benefits such as dental examinations and treatments, physiotherapy, chiropractic services, psychology services, acupuncture, glasses, contact lenses and more.
They also deal with the cost of emergency or other ambulance services in the case of an emergency – a cost which Medicare doesn’t cover.
Who Needs It
If the Government had their way it’s likely every adult in Australia would have private health insurance since it helps to subsidise the cost of looking after older customers who claim more from their policy. Thankfully there’s laws against making people pay for a service they don’t want.
Laura Crowden who is a spokesperson at the Australian insurance comparisons site iSelect says that those who would benefit from health insurance includes men who are active and play a lot of sport or exercise.
“Physio becomes important since you’re at a higher risk of injuring yourself and needing elective surgery which is where private health insurance helps you,” she says.
this help can often come in the form of skipping the hospital queues however she adds that it’s not just for men who like to stay active.
“People who have types of jobs that are quite physical like tradesmen or builders also have a greater need for health insurance,” says Crowden.
Given the financial implications that could occur from out-of-action business owners and the self-employed, Crowden says that health insurance would definitely benefit this group.
“They can all be treated quickly if they have a problem,” she says.
What Happens If I Get It
Given that there’s 33 different insurers in Australia alone with each having dozens of policies, choosing the right policy is crucial.
If you’re set on going ahead with health insurance, there are comparison sites which can take the details of what you’re looking for based on your lifestyle and then point you to the recommended policy based on those points.
Your own homework will need to include an analysis of the following:
Think about your current and future health needs: Consult a private health insurance expert to discuss your life stage. This ensures you take out the right policy that covers you for everything you need and so you are not paying for things you don’t need.
Review the extras: If you don’t think you’ll use them, why pay for them?
Make sure ambulance is covered: Not all private health insurance policies include ambulance cover and it can also vary by state. Make sure your policy includes ambulance cover or you could be left significantly out-of-pocket after an emergency.
Look for payment discounts: some providers offer a discount for paying by direct debit. Similarly, paying 12 months of premiums upfront can see you avoid the annual premium increase.
Only hospital cover delivers tax benefits: taking out an extras only policy will not deliver any tax benefits, such as excluding you from the Medicare Levy Surcharge. If you earn over $90,000 (single) or $180,000 (couple) and are looking to save on tax, make sure your private health insurance includes hospital cover.
Crowden reiterates that choosing the right policy for your own needs and lifestyle is essentially the bottom line.
“If you are going to have health insurance make sure to get the right one. Men tend to be a bit worse than women when it comes to this as many don’t want to spend a lot of time thinking about it so they just take out a policy because their parents told them to.”
“Or they become a higher income earner and they end up paying more than they need to without having the right level of cover. Your needs as a man change from your twenties to your forties.”
The quickest and easiest way to determine your health cover needs and avoid paying for nothing? Speak to someone from a comparative site.
What Happens If I Don’t
In short, nothing. Although by now you’re probably thinking you definitely need health insurance but this isn’t entirely the case. Health insurance is left down to the individual to reflect on his own daily routines, activities and lifestyle to make a sound decision on.
Many younger men don’t buy health insurance simply because they rarely get sick or injured and feel that their absence from their doctors means that they’re invincible (guilty). This may be true and nothing may happen to you at all, but the bottom line is that it’s a risk you’ll need to bear yourself.
If you’re always getting injured and you don’t have health insurance, you’re going to be out of pocket quite often and by quite a big chunk depending on your medical needs.
There’s also multiple ‘motivators’ that the Government has put in place to get more young people to join private health cover which will screw you over later in life you decide to join after a certain age.
“If you’re over the age of 31-years and don’t have private health insurance by July 1st and you decide to take it out, you’ll have to pay more later on for your health insurance,” says Crowden.
This compounding fee is known as the Government’s Lifetime Health Cover Loading. On top of that there’s also the Medicare Surcharge Levy, both which are extra fees on top of the basic health cover.
More specifically, know these definitions as this is how they’ll be taking your money:
Lifetime Health Cover Loading (LHC): LHC is a government incentive designed to encourage younger and healthier Australians to take out private insurance earlier in life. Customers without hospital cover by 1 July following their 31st birthday who decide to take it out later in life will have to pay 2% LHC loading on top of their premium for every year they were without cover.
Medicare Levy Surcharge (MLS): A government incentive designed to reduce the burden on the public health system, MLS is an additional tax (on top of the standard 2% Medicare Levy) for those who earn over $90,000 (single) or $180,000 (couple/family) and don’t have private hospital cover. MLS ranges between 1-1.5% depending on income level.
So when’s the best time to get a sweet deal on health insurance?
“There’s not really a better time to take it out, but there’s a best time to make sure you’re stealing the best deals,” says Crowden.
“It’s not like all Insurers will up their premiums up by 3%, they will vary and some will go up more than others. So the 1st of April should be a prompt for men to look at their coverage.”
Every year on the 1st of April all health insurers put up their premiums up. One way to avoid that is to pay your premiums in advance of 12 months to put off that increase.
Another point to take in is pricing variances between health insurance companies – there is none. It all comes down to the needs of an individual.
Crowden explains that if you decided to buy a policy through iSelect from HCF, you’d pay the same price as if you’d gone direct to HBF, so the the prices are consistent no matter where you buy that policy from. There are however differences in price by state.
“Health insurance in Australia is community rated meaning everyone pays the same depending on the policy you take out. A healthy 25-year-old with a top-level policy with NIB and a 75-year-old with diabetes taking out the same policy will pay the same.”
It’s All On You
At the end of the day the option of health insurance is there for peace of mind.
Crowden says that if you’re a young man joining health insurance just for the sake of avoiding the future LHC loading, look for a basic policy to begin with which should set you back between $60-$70 per month for singles. As your life changes and you get married and have kids, adjust the policy accordingly.
For those who don’t want it and are totally comfortable chillaxing and relying on the public health system, you’ll be glad to hear that it’s pretty good for emergency situations and only an issue for elective procedures.
In other words if you’re healthy, carefree and poor then don’t buy it. If you’ve got cash to spare, constantly worried and prone to getting sick, get it.

The Pandemic came at the global economy like a sledgehammer. Unlike the GFC of 2008, industry was forced to an immediate halt; revenue streams not cut by halves or quarters, but totally dismembered.
That image in your mind, consider this: American stock markets have seen a miraculous rally, with shares like Tesla not just recovering but hitting historic highs. The ASX has followed with a stunning rally (even if it has recently calmed somewhat). Some warn this may be a huge bubble, while others are betting big bucks The Pandemic only dealt a tazer-like blow to Australia’s economy (indeed, Australia has a better growth forecast than most developed nations).
To properly understand this gap between the booming stock market (think: tech stocks, gold, etc.) and the flailing ~real~ economy (think: empty cafes, deserted office spaces), and to ask whether the two must clang back together, DMARGE got on the phone with James Whelan, Investment Manager at VFS Group in Sydney.
His answer? “They can continue apart for as long as federal governments, federal reserves – central banks – continue to stimulate economies with funny money.”
“The trend that was started in the GFC,” Whelan explains, “was to fix the banking situation by throwing a whole bunch of money into various financial systems, for instance by buying bonds. Now they’ve gone and [tried to] fix a health crisis using pretty much the same solutions (dropping interest rates, buying corporate bonds and buying ETF’s).”
“I’m not entirely sure how buying bonds in [Warren Buffet owned conglomerate] Berkshire Hathaway is going to help people survive a pandemic, but that’s the situation that we’re in.”
On a positive note, according to Whelan, “Everything is rigged to inflate asset prices and to keep the market going – so the economy is actually not really going as badly as it seems.”
“It looks bad – but China has pretty much turned it around quarter on quarter, and that’s a pretty big part of the world. Also, there’s not a problem that can’t [temporarily] be solved with untold government spending – we’re just kicking the can down the road.”
“If the [Australian] government needs to get people back out working once a vaccine is found – whatever day that actually happens (I personally don’t think it’ll be this year) – they will just throw untold amounts of wealth at trying to fix it and getting people back in there.”
“Then the entrepreneurial spirit comes back; people’s desire to make money always gets back into gear and that will be the thing that will drive the economy.”
Long story short: “It’s highly possible that the economy will come up to meet the market.”
AMP Financial Advisor, Andrew Heaven also told DMARGE there was no inherent need for the stock market to suddenly come back down to the ~real~ economy: “It’s a common belief that the economy and stock market are one and the same. However, while they both appear to follow similar peaks and troughs in the long term, in the short term it’s not always the case.”
“What’s important to consider is that the economy and economic data looks at today while the stock market is much more predictive of where we will be in the future as it’s based on future rather than present earnings.”
“This means that the current downtick in both the Australian and global economies can be clearly attributed to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic,” Andrew added. “On the other hand, the stock market looks more positive at present as stock investors are looking beyond what’s happening at the moment, towards what they believe to be a more positive future.”
Finally, DMARGE spoke to Mathew Cassidy, Managing Director at Partners Wealth Group. Mathew told us the ‘stock market vs. economy’ gap is not as bizarre as you might think, explaining many of the stocks which have gone up (Microsoft, Amazon, etc.) currently hold more promise for the future than ever, even though their valuations are “stretched thin.”
“The demand on Microsoft’s services as a result of what’s happened has just been [incredible]. There has never been a greater time in history when there’s been a stronger demand for their underlying software and their associated services.”
“There has probably been 10 years worth of acceleration within a four month period,” Mathew relates.
Mathew also highlighted that “really what the stock market does is look forward 6-12 months.”
Mathew concluded by telling us, though investors are currently optimistic, and the market is rallying, there are no guarantees: “The stock market is assuming the government stimulus is going to come through and… we haven’t yet seen a company reporting season in Australia or internationally to see what the report card is.”
“The stock market would suggest that everything’s going to be fine, but many of the smartest investors I have been speaking to are still going to be very cautious because people see that there’s some pain coming and that’s not quite reflected in the market.”

Australian men like to think of themselves as loveable larrikins. But the latest dating news to come out of the land down under suggests maybe we’re not quite as funny as we think – we’re downright hilarious.
One of the most incomprehensible elements of Australian culture is the concept of ‘banter’. The Brits and the Irish kind of understand it, but to anyone else, our love of gentle bullying is strange and borderline impenetrable. We’re a weird group of people who call people we don’t like our ‘mates’ and people we do ‘dickheads’.
At its best, banter is irreverent and friendly. At its worse, banter is just a lazy pass for being a prick. This Australian man has made headlines for a prank that straddles those two definitions perfectly – we can’t decide whether he’s a legend or indeed, a dickhead.
9 News shared how one man’s reaction to a messy breakup was to post his ex’s phone number in public, listing it as the number to call if you wanted to enter a “Chewbacca roar competition”. The results… Well, they speak for themselves.
It’s hard to take this poor woman seriously as she’s playing back those voicemails… It’s pretty funny. As far as breakup pranks go, it’s more than a little inventive – how can you not have a giggle?
But even if it’s funny as hell, it’s pretty poor form and could even be considered a form of harassment.
Domestic violence is a major national health and welfare issue. Over 2.2 million Australians have experienced physical and/or sexual violence from a partner and 3.6 million Australians have experienced emotional abuse from a partner – that’s one in six women and one in sixteen men, according to the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare.
A childish prank like this is fairly innocuous (not to mention hilarious), but it also teeters on the edge of a broader culture of darker post-breakup behaviour which needs to be condemned. It’s easy to have a laugh at something like this, but we should spare a thought for the person at the butt of the joke, because we’re sure we wouldn’t be so happy if someone posted our number like this in public.
Our take? Real gentlemen know how to end a relationship amicably. Stay classy, gents.

This year has been a shock to the system in more ways than one. The social and economic disruption of 2020 has forced all of us to take a good hard look at how our society works and has got us asking some hard questions about whether things need to change once we’ve all come out of lockdown.
The reality is that at a time when many are out of work, the demand for luxury goods has dropped. For the 1%, things haven’t changed too much – Ferrari’s still selling expensive cars and the watch aftermarket’s not doing too badly, for example. But this is hardly groundbreaking news: when the economy slumps, the appetite for luxury goods wanes.
The face of luxury is changing, too. China and Japan are the world’s biggest markets for luxury goods, surpassing traditional markets such as North America and Europe. As economic and political power shifts from the West to the East, from the global North to the global South, consumer habits and desires are evolving, and luxury brands – the majority of which are European – will need to evolve in step with their customers. Again, this is hardly a new revelation.
Perhaps what 2020 has underscored more than anything is how brands need to be socially and culturally relevant. Luxury brands have been accused of jumping on the bandwagon and ‘virtue signaling’ when it comes to the Black Lives Matter movement, for instance – something many argue juxtaposes weirdly with high fashion’s historic ‘devil may care‘ demeanour.
The irony is though, luxury brands would no doubt be criticised if they took their classic contrarian attitude to important social issues too, leading some in the industry to throw up their hands and cry: you’re damned if you do, damned if you don’t.
Unless you have someone at the helm who can pay homage to luxury’s defiant aura (appeasing the legacy audience) but also keep with the times – and maybe even get ahead of them. This is quite a rare person – but it’s one that one of the world’s leading luxury groups seems determined to find.
Enter: this recent, quiet job listing at one of the world’s leading luxury groups.
Richemont, the third-largest luxury goods company in the world (after LVMH and Estée Lauder) is looking for a new Head of Inclusion and Diversity for their New York office. This follows last year’s creation of a new Diversity and Inclusion Director role at their Geneva headquarters.
Richemont – which counts among its Maisons names like Cartier, Dunhill, IWC Schaffhausen, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Montblanc, Piaget, Roger Dubuis, Vacheron Constantin, and Van Cleef & Arpels – is one of the most important players in the luxury space. What’s noteworthy about this new NYC job listing is that they haven’t tried to trumpet their social justice bona fides by offering such a position. They haven’t turned it into an opportunity for a press release. Instead, they’ve subtly made room in two of their most important offices for people who can help keep their businesses relevant.
DMARGE spoke exclusively to Madhuraa Prakash, youth activist with Plan International, writer and model, who explained how important it is for brands to consider inclusion and diversity.
“Consumers care about whether businesses are ethical,” Prakash relates.
“In the luxury or fashion industries, you can feel so lost [as a person of colour]… Brands [like Richemont] have a platform and that they’re considering these sorts of things is a step in the right direction.”
At a time when Manhattan’s streets are awash with protests and US race relations are at an all-time low, having diversity direction in New York is more relevant than ever.
Superficially it might seem hard to reconcile the two worlds of social justice and luxury goods – do protestors wear $30,000 watches? However, it’s important that firms, no matter what industry they operate in, make sure they’re operating with a social conscience.
A role or two is not going to be a silver bullet to every social issue, but that Richemont is taking proactive steps in this direction is to be applauded. One thing that 2020 has undoubtedly proven is that innovation is necessary to survive: fashion insiders will be sure to keep a close eye on what Richemont does next.

With the global pandemic situation showing no signs of easing, it’s becoming ever more paramount that we protect ourselves and those around us from contracting The Virus. One of the most effective and, not to mention, one of the easiest ways we can all do our bit is to wear a face mask whenever we’re outside.
But we’ll admit, the standard blue ones provided by the likes of hospitals aren’t the most comfortable and they sure as hell don’t look good. We know health is more important than fashion, but we imagine the ugly nature of the blue masks is what is putting many people off wearing one.
That is all bound to change, however, with the launch of Under Armour’s face mask. Available to pre-order now, Under Armour’s (yes, the sportswear company who you wouldn’t have thought would have produced a face mask) face mask is one you will want to wear day in and day out. It looks great and is incredibly functional far beyond just protecting your respiratory system.
Since UA has a sporting background, the Sportsmask is designed to be worn all day, and as such, is made from UA’s own high-performance materials, which includes a polyurethane open-cell foam. This allows air to flow through the mask, meaning you can breathe as normal. You also get an anti-microbial treatment on the inner layer to keep it fresher for longer (although it’s highly recommended you wash the mask after each wear).

UA’s proprietary Iso-Chill fabric also makes an appearance on the inside layer and on the over-ear loops. This fabric remains cool to the touch, so no chances of feeling overheated during daily use. Finally, the outer layer is water-resistant too, so you can easily wear it outside should the weather turn sour.
All in all, it’s an incredibly comfortable mask that we think looks fantastic and is one that we reckon will help drive down transmission.
Due to ship by 4th September, there’s never been a better time to place your order.

Pink sand beaches, pastel buildings, snorkelling; some weird triangle. Bermuda is known for many things but digital nomads is not one of them.
However, though the remote workers of the world have typically eschewed the Caribbean for cheaper paradises, a new offer from Bermuda, designed to entice tourism while times are bleak, may be set to change that.
At the very least: it’s causing cooped up employees to ask their employers some uncomfortable questions.
So is there a new remote work policy coming for our office?
— Roy Berman (@Mutantfroginc) July 25, 2020
Introduced as the country has fallen upon mass unemployment, The Bermuda Government is now offering year-long residencies to “people who wish to base themselves there for remote work or study purposes,” The Lonely Planet reports.
“It hopes the scheme will stimulate economic activity as the new temporary residents will spend money on hospitality and accommodation, without displacing Bermudians in the workforce.”
Aspiring candidates must be over 18, of “good character,” and able to supply proof of employment and health insurance. If going for the student program, they must be able to show they are enrolled in a research, undergraduate, graduate or doctorate program.
They also need to demonstrate sufficient means and/or a continuous source of annual income, without the need to find a job in Bermuda.
Judging by Twitter, the digital nomads (and jealous office workers) of the world are all – to say the least – keen.

“There are persons who are location-independent, using technology to perform their job no matter where they are,” Bermuda’s minister of labor, Jason Hayward, said in a statement.
“Such persons work remotely, telecommuting rather than being physically present at a company’s headquarters or office. Remote working has been a growing trend for some time and is something the Bermuda Government has been examining as part of its technology-focused economic diversification strategy.”
Hurricane or Covid-19, I would risk the hurricane. Nice if you have the time and money. Once again the have and the have nots

The residency certificates cost US $263 ($AU 373) and applications should be submitted via the Bermuda government website by the 1st of August 2020. It has also been announced, Royal Gazette reports, that the maximum stay period for all visitors is to be extended from 90 days to 180 days.
Let the countdown begin.
