Like painting the town red but are now on a budget? Love cocktails but haven’t a clue how to make them? Cut your teeth on the cities best aperitifs but can’t re-create them at home? Quit shaking: the solution is here.Cocktail Porter, Australia’s first premium online cocktail subscription service, has launched today, ready to deliver bartender-designed cocktail kits directly to your front door. Intrigued? The Sydney-born concept is now accepting orders for deliveries right across metro Australia—just in time to make summer that bit fruitier.Cocktail Porter was born when Cameron Northway, founder and managing director of drinks experience agency Sweet&Chilli (and co-founder of Bondi’s hatted bar and restaurant, Rocker), noticed a surge in off-premise sales as a result of increased at home entertaining occasions and an uptake in food delivery services. Seeing this, Northway set out to create a modern, on-demand product for those, “Wanting to shake up their drinks game.”The idea is this: you get a different cocktail kit delivered each month, each one containing the latest trends in cocktails from bars around Australia and the world, along with easy-to-follow recipes, pre-measured premium spirits, tailored mixers and quality ingredients to create simple but delicious tipples. The kits, set to be delivered on the 14th of each month (if purchased via subscription) or within 3-5 working days (if purchased as a one off), will make between 14 to 18 cocktails per box.
“Each cocktail kit has been designed and curated by Northway and his team of highly lauded Australian bartenders, including Tim Phillips, former Bartender of the Year and owner of award winning bars Bulletin Place and Dead Ringer.”
In today’s press release, Cocktail Porter said they will, “Launch with four signature one off classic cocktail boxes and a limited edition Monthly Membership Box,” adding that, “Each cocktail is tailored to include a unique, bar quality twist.”“We have designed these kits so that all you have to do is grab some ice, chill the glass, gather some garnish and pop the cork,” says Northway. “We wanted to create a cocktail concept that saved Aussies from having to run around store to store finding the right bottle of alcohol, the right mixer and appropriate garnish. We are sending the recipe and the bottles. You don’t even need to have a cocktail kit at home to make it – use a mason jar or Tupperware to shake up your cocktail. It’s less prep, more play and bang for your buck.”
“Think an espresso martini with grated dark chocolate, a classic gin martini with your choice of different flavoured vermouths, Treacle Old Fashioned, Bloody Mary with a dash of turmeric vinegar and limited edition Spring Cup Spritzer, a delicious summer spritz packaged with Tanqueray London Dry Gin & Ciroc Ultra-Premium Vodka to create two different flavoured cocktails.”
As for prices, “monthly members” boxes are $135 per month. And the first 100 customers to sign up for this service will receive 25% off their first box (making it $99). This means, with each kit making at least 14 cocktails, subscribers are set to spend less than $10 per drink—half the price of cocktails in bars. There are also flexible subscription options, which allow customers to pause or cancel at any time.Oh and if “Netflix and chiller” describes you better than “dinner party deviant,” don’t worry: one-off purchases are available too.RELATED: Cool Sydney Bars – The Hottest Cocktail Spots You Have To Try This Year

You’ve heard of it as the latest health trend taking the world by storm and now doctors have thrown their weight behind it – intermittent fasting, a.k.a. the art of timed eating.
According to their latest findings published in the journal BMJ Case Reports, the doctors found that planned intermittent fasting could help reverse type 2 diabetes – the disease where the body doesn’t produce enough insulin and causes symptoms like increased thirst, frequent urination, hunger and fatigue.
The results come via three patients under the doctors’ care who all undertook planned intermittent fasting and were subsequently able to cut out the need for insulin treatment.
Whilst the key to managing type-2 diabetes in the past involved keeping one’s lifestyle in check and controlling blood glucose levels, it can be easier said than done. Bariatric surgery involving a gastric band can be effective, but the doctors warned that the procedure doesn’t come without its risks. Drugs meanwhile can manage the symptoms but isn’t a sure fire way of stopping type-2 diabetes.
This is where planned intermittent fasting comes in.
The doctors trialled the latest dieting practice on three men aged between 40 and 67 to see if it would have any effect on their condition. All three men were previously taking drugs to control the disease alongside regular insulin doses. They also suffered from high blood pressure and high cholesterol.
Two of the three patients were then put through the fasting process on alternating days for a full 24 hours. The third patient meanwhile fasted for three days a week. The fasting days consisted of low calorie drinks like tea, coffee, water and broth alongside a very low calorie meal in the evening. This pattern was repeated for 10 months and by the end of the trial all three men were able to stop the injection of insulin within a month of commencing their fasting schedule. One doctor’s case even produced this result in just five days.
The other effects included two of the men ceasing the need for diabetic drugs whilst the third man dropped back from four drugs to just one. Weight was also a notable factor with all three men losing 10 – 18 percent of their body mass alongside lower blood glucose readings – a result which the doctors say can lower the risk of future complications.
So how hard is the diet to stick by? Not hard at all according to the researchers and patients.
The experts do warn though that this is just a study complied amongst three men and much more evidence is required draw a definite conclusion on intermittent fasting’s effects on treating diabetes.
“The use of a therapeutic fasting regimen for treatment of [type 2 diabetes] is virtually unheard of,” the doctors wrote.
“This present case series showed that 24-hour fasting regimens can significantly reverse or eliminate the need for diabetic medication,” they concluded.
Given the ease of intermittent fasting, we’d suggest trying it out regardless whether you suffer from diabetes or want to get ripped faster.

So you’ve mastered the eggplant emoji and want to send the real deal. Welcome to the 21st century, where love notes are texts and erotic postcards have been replaced by triple-X MMS.It’s clear why sexting has become so popular. It’s playful and spontaneous, and almost ludicrously easy in an age when everyone carries a smartphone. It keeps you connected with your partner and lets you explore fantasies with just a few clicks. It’s foreplay that can happen almost anywhere, at almost any time.
Emphasis on almost.
The first thing you have to understand about sexting is that, just like actual sex, abstinence is the only option that’s 100% safe. Also like actual sex, you’re probably going to do it anyway. And so, once again like actual sex, you should educate yourself on how to do it as safely (and scandal-free) as possible.
To ensure you always engage in safe sexting and keep your privates private, keep the following advice in mind.
In this story…
Benefits of sexting
According to science, sexting isn’t just common – it’s beneficial. Researchers at Drexel University enlisted 870 heterosexual adults between the ages of 18 and 82 for a study on the subject. The survey revealed that 88% of respondents had sexted at least once, and 82% had done so in the last year. A full 96% said they were pro-sexting, whether or not they’d tried it themselves. Participants who did get their sext on reported higher levels of sexual satisfaction than those who refrained.
But if you prefer not to let science dictate your sex life, there are other points in the pro-sexting column. It’s fun, it’s hot, it’s exciting, it’s a low-stress crash course in talking dirty. It’s a tool in your foreplay toolbox. It spices up a relationship. It’s a bonding experience. It makes both people feel desirable. It helps long distance partners feel close and stay hot for each other. And most importantly, it’s normal – don’t let critics tell you otherwise.
When To Sext
Our ultra-connected digital age requires savvy sexters to exercise caution. From the 2014 iCloud leak dubbed ‘The Fappening’ to countless political scandals, we’ve seen first-hand the fallout that can accompany a raunchy photo habit.
Avoiding embarrassment starts long before you figure out your junk’s most flattering angles. Safe sexting begins with a solid foundation.
Remember just a minute ago when we said sexting is like actual sex? Here it is again: like IRL sex, sexting shouldn’t be done without consent. The hottie on Tinder doesn’t want to add your unsolicited package pic to the 25 she already received that day. It’s bad manners, and if she’s not the suffer-in-silence type, she’s going to show it to her friends as the latest in a long line of “Some creep sent me a photo of his dick today” stories.
When you know you’re sexting consensually, the next step is establishing trust. Have ‘The Talk’ with your partner. Not the one about when they last got tested or whether they’re still boning other people – the one about safe sexting best practices. Get on the same page about the security habits you intend to use. If you’re vigilant about encryption and wiping EXIF data, and your partner likes to post risqué images to Reddit and accidentally downloads malware every week, you may have a conflict on your hands. Agree on mutually high security standards before proceeding.
When you feel confident that your partner is trustworthy, have the same frank conversation you would have about sex. What are you into? Just text messages, or are pictures and videos on the menu, too? On a scale of flirty to dirty, how explicit do you want to get? Do you like the rush of sexting at work, or do you prefer to sext only from the safety of home? Voice any concerns and set ground rules that ensure neither of you feels uncomfortable or vulnerable.
And now for the question that’s been burning a hole in your brain: sexting with strangers – cool or nah?
Ultimately, the answer is up to you. We certainly won’t tell you not to do it, but we will say that it’s far riskier behaviour than sexting with someone you trust. If that’s a chance you’re willing to take, sext on, brave soul.

What To Consider
You’re almost ready to fire off your sexiest mirror selfies and Fifty Shades of Grey-worthy prose. Before you hit send, ask yourself these final questions.
- Do I want to show my face in photos or crop it out? How about any unique features, like tattoos or birthmarks? Should your pics fall into the wrong hands, you may be thankful you took steps to establish plausible deniability. Making yourself difficult to identify is the first, and easiest, line of defense against exposure. Pro tip: the blur tool in Photoshop isn’t foolproof, as some software can reverse its effects. Cropping is the safest way to go.
- How drunk am I? Sexting is best done with a certain degree of sobriety. Think about how risky it can be to drink and text. Now imagine the damage you could do if you drink and sext. Black Mirror is probably penning a horrific episode about it as we speak.
- Am I in a delicate position? Some people have more to lose if their sexts go public. If you’re a high-profile person in any way, or if you have a job that could be devastated by a sexting scandal (a teacher or a member of the clergy, for example), the risk may not be worth the reward.
- Are my devices connected? When you receive a reply, where will the notifications go? If you’re sexting on an iPhone via iMessage, you may also be connected to your MacBook or iPad. Services like Google Hangouts and Facebook Messenger could also show notifications in multiple places simultaneously. Prying eyes – even accidentally prying eyes – could catch a glimpse of your naughty missives where you least expect it.
And finally: Do I understand and accept the risks? The danger is part of the fun, but it’s still danger. You can never completely eliminate the risk of exposure when you sext. If the worst case scenario would have dire, traumatic consequences for you, you’re better off texting memes and pet pictures and saving the sexy stuff for face to face.
How To Do It
At last, the time has arrived. You’ve passed all the tests and set the stage for the smoothest, safest sexting possible. Here are eight final tips to make you a master of the sensual art of sexting. Who says romance peaked with Shakespeare?
Expunge The EXIF Metadata
Cameras automatically add metadata to images. This hidden info can reveal the time and date the picture was snapped, what camera was used, and even where it was taken – not good news when you’re aiming for stealth. A quick search online will teach you how to wipe out metadata depending on the device and operating system you use.
Delete The Evidence
Delete all saucy images, both sent and received, and make sure they’re gone for good. You may have a Recently Deleted folder that collects items you thought you’d erased, or you may use a service that automatically syncs images between devices. In the latter case, deleting a picture from one device doesn’t mean it’s wiped from all of them. Also be sure you turn off any auto-upload or back up features you have enabled. If you absolutely must hold on to your photos, store them in a vault app that locks them behind a passcode and prevents hidden images from appearing in the primary gallery.
Use A Secure Service
An increasing number of services are dedicated to keeping your private communications private. Look for an app, like BitTorrent’s Bleep, that never sends messages to a server or the cloud. The most secure services abide by strict privacy policies, use https, and encrypt all messages and images. They may also block screenshots and offer timed messages that self-destruct.
Adjust Your Lock Screen Settings
Disable message previews from appearing on your phone’s lock screen. Even if you don’t sext, hiding messages from public view is a solid security tip.
Disable Chat History
Deleting individual text messages is tedious, particularly considering that they need to be wiped from both devices. A better bet is to use an app that allows you to disable chat history so that neither sender nor recipient has a record of the interactions.
Set Up Separate Accounts
Perhaps you have a service you like for smut and a different service for everything else. If so, keep doing what you’re doing. But if you want to conduct all communication in one place, clean and dirty alike, create a disposable account for the dirt that’s completely separate and contains no info leading back to you. Just remember which one you’re logged into before you hit send.
Don’t Reuse Passwords
This is Internet Safety 101, yet some people still get it wrong. You should never reuse passwords, ever, for anything. Period. That being said, diversified passwords are especially important if you’re an enthusiastic sexter. If one account is breached, the hackers are bound to try your password on other accounts. Do you really want them to find the tentacle porn you sent your sweetie?
Be Prepared To Own It
The day may come when your sexts are exposed to the world. The best way to deal is to handle it like Bieber and Bloom – take it on the chin (or whichever body part you prefer), apologise if you need to, then give the world a big ol’ ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Excuses are lame and embarrassment is overrated. Own it like the magnificent bastard you are.

Let’s talk about “The Dream.” We may have different ideas about what it is, but we have one thing in common: we want to be living it.
For a growing number of people, living the dream means travelling the world while supporting themselves with temporary or location-independent work. You can picture the lifestyle now: no 9-5 schedule, no cubicle, no commute, no co-workers stealing your snacks from the company kitchen. Instead your office is a world’s worth of coffee shops, co-working spaces, resorts, retreats, hotels, hostels, planes, trains, beaches, and Airbnbs.
The internet has revolutionised the way we work and play, making it more possible than ever before to make money while travelling. There are also a number of opportunities for less tech-savvy travellers to earn extra cash while roaming the globe.
Here are 14 of the best ways to combine work and wanderlust. The Dream is not as distant as you think.
Freelance
Freelancing can be an incredible way to make a living on your own terms. More and more people are leaving traditional payroll employment behind in favour of the ‘gig economy’ that lets them make their own rules, set their own hours, and focus on the work that’s most meaningful to them.
To choose your freelancing field, consider your background and skill set. What can you already do well? Some traditional freelancing options include writing, programming, web design, graphic design, photography, translation, and marketing, but in our increasingly remote age, feel free to get creative. If your service is useful and you’re good at it, and you can market it well, you’ll find clients.
Sell A Product
Offering a service isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. If you’re looking to create income without an hourly rate, try making and selling a product instead. Your product can be informational – like an ebook or an online course – or physical. Start an Etsy store if you’re especially crafty and unique, or sell your goods on Amazon’s Etsy competitor, Handmade at Amazon. Use CafePress to design and sell merchandise in a variety of categories. Try Society6 or Threadless if you’re an artist.
Selling through an established marketplace is the simplest path to getting started, but it’s not the only option. Services like Shopify and BigCommerce help entrepreneurs launch their own online stores. If you’re an especially big thinker, you may want to try launching a product on Kickstarter or another crowdfunding platform. Just don’t forget to consider how you’ll create and ship your product while you’re on the road.
Teach English
Teaching English, or any other language you speak, is one of the easiest ways to earn cash abroad. Language skills are in high demand and teaching jobs are abundant – some of them even pay well. You can offer your services as an independent teacher to any client who’s interested. If you’re looking for a formal position, however, it may not be enough to be a native speaker. Many established programs or schools require a university degree and a TEFL/TESOL certification.
Work As A Bartender Or Server
Restaurants, bars, and nightclubs exist worldwide, and the job description is pretty much the same everywhere. As long as you meet the basic language requirements, the food/beverage service industry is an excellent choice for vagabonds. Positions are plentiful and it’s not uncommon for employment to be for short periods. It will be easier to find work in touristy areas where customer traffic and employee turnover are both high, and the local establishments are more familiar with hiring travellers.
Lend A Hostel A Helping Hand
Hostels are often on the hunt for staff to man the front desk, serve food, clean rooms, or show guests around. You may be able to trade work hours for a free bed and meals. It’s not glamorous, and it’s not exactly earning money, but it’s still a useful way to save up while you’re wandering the world. Some hostels even offer paid positions to working guests who intend to stay longer term.
Become A House Sitter
Just this month, a 28 year old woman revealed to the Daily Mail how house-sitting was the secret weapon that enabled her to transform her travel lifestyle into a “full time gig.” House-sitting websites operate as a mediating platform like Airbnb, where home owners and house-sitters are rated, reviewed and put in contact with each other. This option also (depending on the host) gives you access to a car, and other luxuries you just wouldn’t get in a hostel or backpackers.
Get Seasonal Work
Thirsting for adventure? Try scoring a seasonal position somewhere that gets your blood pumping. Anywhere that has a big tourist season will also have a big demand for temporary labour – think ski resorts, national parks, festivals, yachts, ranches, and retreat centres. Search CoolWorks.com to find available gigs.
Start A Blog
It seems like everyone who dreams of funding full-time vagabonding has tried to launch a blog. Many fail (ok, most fail), but some pull in a decent monthly income and a lucky few go way beyond ‘decent’. The blogger life is not as flashy as it looks – it takes a lot of hard work to launch and maintain a successful site – but if you’re willing to put in the hours, you could add ‘travel writer’ to your resume.
Not into the written word? No problem. In the 21st century, your travelogue could take the form of a vlog on YouTube or a podcast instead. Whichever medium you choose, your income will generally come from things like advertising, affiliate sales, and influencer marketing deals. You may also score the occasional free swag from companies hoping to get their product featured.
Become A Photographer
One option is to offer your camera skills as a freelancer. You could become a destination wedding photographer or a photojournalist in the travel and adventure space. Another option is to sell your images to stock photography sites like iStock and Shutterstock. You could also lead guided photography tours if you’re a people person, or sell online tutorials to earn passive income.
Make Deliveries
By now you’re well-versed in ‘sharing economy’ services like Airbnb and Uber. A new crop of startups are applying the same it’s-cool-to-trust-strangers-now philosophy to package delivery. Peer-to-peer services like WorldCraze, Roadie, and Grabr let trusted travellers sign up to be couriers for other users. You get paid to deliver packages along your route or bring foreign items home; they get what they need shipped faster or cheaper than a company could do.
Lead Tours
You have to be well-versed in your destination (or at least willing to learn), but if you’re knowledgable and enjoy interacting with people, becoming a tour guide is an excellent way to make money while travelling. You get to know somewhere you love inside and out, deeply immersing yourself in the setting and culture, while funding your current adventure and the next. Being a tour guide can offer a lot of variety and opportunities to set your own schedule, though it can also come with uneven paydays and little job security. Be prepared to be friendly and flexible at all times if you want to make it work.
Import And Export Goods
Think of it as modern-day treasure hunting. If you have an eye for interesting items, getting into the import-export trade can be a lucrative way to earn money on the road. As you trek across the globe, keep an eye out for local, specialty, and handmade goods that will appeal to consumers back home. Pick up goods your destination is known for – the kind of rare or one-of-a-kind things that can’t be ordered on Amazon – and bring them home to sell to stores, eager collectors, and eBay buyers.
Getting into the business requires some initial capital, and you’ll need to learn how to navigate customs regulations, but the hassle pays for itself when you’re selling goods for multiple times their original worth.
Teach A Skill
Are you a yoga teacher? Can you play guitar? Are you an exceptional cook, a martial artist, or a salsa dancer? Any mobile skill you have can be taught on the road just by advertising your services in your destination. Alternatively, you may be able to make deals with local establishments to use their facilities or appear as a guest instructor.
Work On A Cruise Ship
Working on a cruise ship is a double whammy: not only do you make money from your employment, you also save money because food, accommodation, transportation, and utilities are built in. You’ll have to put in long hours, but there are lots of different types of positions available and cruise ship employees have a reputation for taking “work hard, play hard” very seriously. You might even have more fun than the guests.

Have you ever looked down at your pecks and thought, “I bet scientists would have a field day with these?” Probably not, but if so: you could be onto something because a new study from Aarhus University just found that the stronger a man’s upper body, the more likely he is to have right wing beliefs.“For men, the paper reads, “Physical strength and political attitudes are linked. This… shows that ancestral human instincts affect men’s political reflections.”Specifically, the study found that men with large upper-bodies are more likely to favour inequality in society, and see a limited redistribution of resources as not only inevitable, but desirable. Their mindset being: if we all earn the same and look the same, there’s no competitive ladder to climb.Co published with associate professor Lasse Laustsen from the Department of Political Science, in the journal, Political Psychology, the study drew on data (collected between 2012 and 2017), from 6,349 people of different nationalities (1,875 from Denmark, and the rest a mixture of Lithuanians, Americans, Venezuelans, Ukrainians and Poles). During this time, participants in the survey were asked a range of questions about both their political beliefs and their physical strength. As reported by Science Daily, “The data comes from 12 studies that have applied a variety of methods. Some studies relied on questionnaires and participants were asked to evaluate their own strength compared to others of the same sex. Other studies were conducted in the laboratory and researchers were able to obtain objective measures of, for example, chest strength and handgrip strength.”
“The objective laboratory studies actually show a stronger correlation between physical strength and political attitudes than the respondents’ own subjective evaluations. This supports that raw physical strength is indeed the decisive factor,” (Associate Professor Laustsen).
This, according to the researchers, may help explain why some men with limited financial resources still vote against their own interests: “Our analysis suggests that these men expects to be able to rise in the hierarchy on their own. And once they reach the top of the hierarchy, an unequal society will increase their chances of maintaining that position,” (Laustsen). That said: the researchers could not prove the effect was purely one-way—from physical strength to political attitude.“We cannot rule out that men with right-wing attitudes are also more prone to go to the gym,” said Peterson. However, there are “strong indications” that their attitudes are shaped by physical strength and not the other way round.”Interestingly, this trait was not evident in the women participants, likely because, as the report points out: throughout evolution, women have developed other strategies that take their lower physical strength into account.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XO6TQUlbNecRELATED: The Key To Smarter Children May Lie With The Father’s Fitness Routine

There’s floral shade, floral themed and then there’s all-out floral – Timothee Chalamet style.
The 22-year-old actor stepped out over the weekend for the premiere of his latest film Beautiful Boy alongside Steve Carell, but it was the suit that garnered much of the spotlight.
Rocking the latest floral print single-breasted drop shoulder suit from Alexander McQueen’s 2018 collection, Chalamet took a page out of Harry Styles’ wardrobe whilst simultaneously wearing the statement suit that no man should ever try at a wedding. Attention is a good thing, but never to this extent – especially if it’s not your own wedding.
Chalamet paired the satin suit with a black v-neck shirt and black Louboutin Chelsea boots.
So how similar is Chalamet’s wardrobe to Styles’? We’ll let the gallery do the talking.

Does your gym routine look something like this: bench, bicep curls, shower? If so, maybe Nate Robinson’s shred sessions are just the inspiration you need. Whether it’s the sled reverse flys or the sledge hammer ‘hammer-downs’ – it’s no coincidence Nate Robinson still looks like he could win the NBA slam dunk contest. After all: Nate has no choice but to be one hell of an athlete. At 37 years old, the American professional basketball player (currently playing in the Lebanese Basketball League, for Homenetmen Beirut), is approaching an age where most ballers’ careers start to decline. However, judging by his Instagram (and his plans on returning to the NBA), the super sub point guard has no plans on slowing down.Enter: his workouts. You see, Nate isn’t one to post inspirational quotes and leave it at that. No, he actually walks the talk. Don’t believe us? Take a look at this clip.

We’re not guaranteeing our suggestions will get you Nate Robinson’s physique, but these exercises should help. Now, while we can’t tell exactly how many reps/sets etc. were done in the video, this is a sample workout, curated by yours truly, to get your ass body in shape. Oh, and we’ve added in a warm up not included in the clip, because we can’t all jump straight into a medicine ball wall toss.Start with some Rock N’ Rolls. No matter how strong you think you are, you should always warm up. A great way to do this is with some light-weight rock n’ rolls. Starting off with no ball (or a very light one), this exercise will light up all the major muscle groups in one powerful move.
- Step one: Lie down, back to the mat, with knees bent.
- Step two: Hold a medicine ball on the ground (overhead) with your arms fully extended.
- Step three: Pull your knees into the chest, preparing to use the weight of the ball (and your soon-to-be cheese-grater abs) to catapult yourself into a controlled squat position, then standing.
- Step four: Next, gently lower back down to the floor, the way you came. Repeat.
Once you’re warmed up: begin Nate’s workout (as per the above clip), curated below for your convenience.
- Medicine Ball Wall Toss – Stand up straight with a tight core and flat back. Holding a medicine ball with both hands, face a wall and make sure you have distanced yourself about 5 feet away (closer if you’re brave). Bring the medicine ball up and behind your head in an arc fashion. Launch the ball forward towards the wall. Catch the ball as it bounces back and bring it back up and behind your head. Repeat. If you want to introduce variance, do it side to side instead of overhead, like Nate.
- Knee To Shoulder Wall Toss – stand with your back to the wall. Hold the medicine ball at your right knee. Lift and toss behind your head, in line with your left shoulder. Repeat. Then switch sides.
- Pick Up Throws – stand in an empty space (or the crossfit part of your gym), with the medicine ball in front of you on the ground. Pick it up and chuck it behind you at someone irritating. Kidding. Make sure no-one is standing there and throw it behind your head to the other side. Repeat.
- Pick Up Slams – this one’s pretty self explanatory – pick the medicine ball up, and slam it back down, sumo style.
- Battle Rope – make double arm waves, and add in some double arm slams if you’re feeling brave.
His next workout (below), if you can believe, is just as intense. So if you’ve mastered the medicine ball, feel free to have a crack at this.

This workout features: sled reverse flys, sledge hammer ‘hammer downs‘ and a trap, shoulder and back busting bar (and kettle) bell carries. The piece de resistance, however, is the ab workout, which involves kneeling on a plastic wedge, putting sliders on your hands, and sliding back and forth on the artificial grass (see end of video). After this comes the elastic band arm push-outs, which are a great way to reduce the lactic acid build up from the heavier exercises. This next clip has a whole bunch more. We recommend the box push ups for strength, and the arm slides for mobility.

Used to be that if it was green, you could eat it. Even if you were a fun-intolerant human with a misleading instagram bio. That may no longer be the case, as an episode of QI just put the “plant based puppies” of the world into existential crisis, by telling them they can’t eat avocado.
As it turns out, there are four common foods that everyone—including vegans—loves that are technically, well, not vegan. These include almonds, avocados, kiwi, butternut squash, and melon.
Contestants on QI, the BBC’s comedy quiz show known for its pushing of buttons (pun intended), were asked which of the above items were vegan, and were taken aback when host Sandi Toksvig said none of them are.
“It’s the same reason as honey,” she said. “They can’t exist without bees, and bees are used in, let’s call it an ‘unnatural way’.
“Because they are so difficult to cultivate naturally,” she explained, “All of these crops rely on bees which are placed on the back of trucks and taken very long distances across the country.”
“It’s migratory beekeeping and it’s unnatural use of animals and there are lots of foods that fall foul of this. Broccoli is a good example. Cherries, cucumbers, lettuce. Lots and lots of vegan things are actually not strictly vegan.”
Unsurprisingly, The Vegan Society disagrees: “Vegans avoid using animals as far as possible and practicable,” spokesperson Dominika Piasecka told Plant Based News.
“We are aware that many forms of farming involve indirect harm to animals but it is unfortunately not possible or practicable to avoid the destruction of other animals in most farming at this time,” she continued, “However, we do not consider that just because it is not possible to avoid one hundred percent of the cruelty, suffering and exploitation to animals that we should not bother at all.”
“Vegans make a huge contribution to the reduction in suffering and death caused to animals and we would welcome any changes made to farming practises that support this.”
The argument was continued in the comments, both on Plant Based News and on QI’s Facebook page, with some commentators revelling in the opportunity to satirise the vegan viewpoint: “We are aware that many forms of farming involve slavery but it is unfortunately not possible or practicable to avoid (it) at this time.”
Others were more understanding: “Where bees are used in that way it is wrong to do so, but at the present time it is difficult to know when it has been the case and will be difficult to address until more people are vegan and concerned about such things.”
And others came to the defence of QI, pointing out they weren’t actually criticising vegans (just playfully provoking—it’s only the keyboard warriors who are getting nasty about it): “Everyone’s getting very upset about this, when nothing incorrect has been said. These aren’t strictly vegan because animals have been used unnaturally in the production. It says so in the clip. Whether or not you continue to eat these things is up to you.”

A year ago, aspiring Australian homeowners could borrow approximately 12 times their net income. Today it’s averaging around 7-8 times. This, combined with banks significantly tightening their lending criteria (due to the royal commission), and low auction clearance rates meaning buyers are sitting back and waiting for properties to “pass in” (not get sold at auction) and purchasing subject to finance afterwards, has put the Australian housing market in decline.
This has led many people to swap their mortgage ambitions for a slightly nicer rental and weekly avocado on toast. But are they right to do so? Surely the market will bounce back at some point. The multi-million dollar question is: when? How might a discerning buyer make the most of this situation? And how can you tell the market is on its way back up? To answer all this, and more, we spoke to Marty Fox, director and owner of Whitefox Real Estate.
Melbourne just overtook Sydney as Australia’s weakest housing market.https://t.co/uvoYjPd2vb#sydney #melbourne

So, should you buy while the market is dropping? It depends on your financial position. As Marty says, “The old saying is: be greedy when others are fearful, and fearful when others are greedy.” So if you are in a position to buy; buy!
“Be greedy and watch the market rebound.”
However, Marty also says that whether or not it’s worth taking a punt depends on why you’re buying: “It’s important to know that if you are buying to make money, all the money is made on the purchase. If you are buying because you love a property and want to live in it; that’s a different story altogether.”
“Buying under market value is the key.”
If you decide to go for it, Marty recommends first home buyers look at older style apartments which hold their value. Also, to get an even better deal, “Look for properties which have been poorly marketed with uneducated agents.” To do this, he says, look for, “Non professional photography, agents who have done minimal transactions and properties which are not styled correctly for sale.”
Or, if you are particularly enterprising, call the agent with the most listings in the area you’re interested in and ask them what their properties are truly worth. How do you get them to share the info? As a real estate agent, Marty knows this all too well.
“Dangle the future listing as a carrot for them to assist you!”
Finally, if you are looking for indicators that the market might start to rise again, these are the signs Marty recommends keeping an eye out for: “Higher auction clearance rates, positivity in the media, new street and block sale records being broken, an increase in real estate agents entering the industry and interest rates decreasing.”
Got all that? Time to start saving.
