Celebrities, A-listers, the rich and famous. We ogle them day in, day out. They’re usually in great physical shape, especially if a new movie or TV show requires them to alter their appearance and their enviable abs leave us questioning that third scoop of ice-cream.But a perfectly toned temple can’t be bought; it takes time in the gym with an expert personal trainer. We spoke to Corey Calliet, a personal trainer for the likes of Michael B. Jordan and A$AP Rocky, to find out what it’s like to work with Hollywood’s elite – and how to get ripped fast.https://www.instagram.com/p/B0BfQoyFh9H/Corey didn’t jump straight into training celebs, but instead as a PT for ‘regular’ people. It wasn’t until a conversation with a friend in 2010 where he outlined his desire to move into becoming a celebrity PT that he started to put the wheels in motion. He said, “it’s been a hard journey, but I was consistent and persevered and eventually I broke into it [becoming a celebrity PT].”But if you think the rich and famous get preferential treatment, think again. “Everyone gets the same Corey Calliet, we set goals, we push limits and we succeed and repeat.”
“I set out to help my cleints realise what they’re capable of, and I coach them with the formula to get the results they’re after – which is more often than not even more than they initially saw for themselves!”
And you can take some solace knowing that celebrities are just the same as you and me when it comes to wanting to take a break if the training becomes too intense: “Everyone, at some point, is going to feel like throwing in the towel when it comes to my training. It’s what I do.”
“I push people past the limits they create in their mind. However, the moment they realise they’ve broken a barrier they placed on themselves, they become hungry for more.”
While this works for A$AP Rocky and Michael B. Jordan, it’s important for the average gym-goer too – breaking mental barriers is an often-overlooked gym technique that tends to be forgotten in this era of updating your Tinder profile between sets, and listening to music to take the edge of that final rep.To help them push past self-imposed boundaries, Corey likes to treat them as if they’re family: “I’ve had luck with it [being a celeb PT], I’ve had some amazing clients. I have a conversation with them to build a connection so they trust me. They have to listen to me for any change to happen at all.”The takeaway for us regular folk? Listen to (and develop a good rapport with) your PT and focus on your training instead of your iPod, and you will see faster results.https://www.instagram.com/p/B4PSTkTFxGC/One of Corey’s big-screen highlights was getting Michael B. Jordan into fighting-fit shape for his role in the Creed movies. We asked him what process he has to go through when there are strict shooting deadlines in place.RELATED: The Brutal Reality Of Attempting Michael B Jordan’s Workout For 30 Days Straight “Anytime I do a movie, I take four months before shooting starts. All I need is 12 weeks; it takes 16 weeks to transform the human body, but I can do it in 12.”Corey puts this quick time-frame down to his expertly honed training style:
“We train with consistency and intensity. Everyday we set out to level up on the last. This type of progression day in and day out leads to powerful results.”
“I also implement strategic active rest days, which protects the body from burnout and allows it to repair and recover while continuing to move. We can more in a shorter period of time by applying all the right methods.”Again: something the ‘every man’ can learn from. If you want to get ripped quick (whether it’s for a wedding or whether it’s because you don’t believe in moderation), seek the advice of a PT, for maximum efficiency. If you happen to live somewhere other than Los Angeles, where Corey trains, you can subscribe to his curated workouts on the Fitplan app, or follow his personal blog posts on his website.

You carefully pack your suitcase, lug it to the airport and hand over a small fortune for a couple of kilos of excess. You then wave it down the conveyor belt, set off through departures with a smile and… the baggage handlers immediately dispatch it to the wrong side of the globe.
While this is a stereotype, travel often enough and one day it will come true. And while some lost baggage is caused by poor airline organisation (or sheer bad luck), according to industry insiders, there is another reason baggage gets lost – and it could be all your fault.
View this post on Instagram
The mistake: not removing old luggage tags, which – though unlikely – could see your suitcase sent to the wrong destination. On a post in Reddit entitled, “People who work for airlines, what are secrets passengers don’t know?” an alleged travel expert wrote, “Not a secret, just common sense: the reason some bags miss their flight or get misrouted is because passengers don’t remove old tags.”
“It confuses handlers as well as the conveyor belt scanners. I see it happen all the time.”
As reported by travel website ESCAPE, “The bag tags, which are printed with a barcode, are used for identification and tracking and are meant to ensure the bag reaches its intended destination.”
ESCAPE adds that – according to global baggage handling monitor Sita – “24.8 million bags went missing in 2018.” Although that is out of 4.3 billion bags handled globally, if you’d like to avoid ending up in that lost and frustrated minority, there are three actions you can take to reduce the chances (or minimise the damage) of a lost case.
View this post on Instagram
First: as well as removing old bag tags, take a photo of your bag before checking it in (makes it easier for staff to find it if it gets lost).
Second: put a “fragile” sticker on your suitcase (ensures it’s handled with care and put on top of the pile, so it’s first off the plane and onto the carousel).
Third: never put electronics in your suitcase (as this baggage resolution specialist explains in a separate Reddit thread, “All of the major airlines do not cover electronics on domestic flights. Plus, if you ever saw the ‘kickers’ on the belt system that switches your bag from one belt to the other, you would never check anything but clothes ever again”).
“If a bag is angled right, these kickers can send them 5-6 feet in the air, and backwards, then your bag isn’t found til the next walk through, that can be 4-6 weeks alone.”
And with that, we’re now off to buy some fragile stickers…

Let’s set the scene. You’ve come home after a long day at work dealing with painful employees and even more painful clients, all you want to do is to recline on the couch and enjoy a glass of your favourite brown poison. You’ve been wearing a warm suit all day and want your drink icy cold. You obviously don’t store your whiskey in the fridge or god forbid the freezer, and don’t want ice to water down your aged Macallan. This is no doubt a predicament many of us face, but fear not, Lithologie’s whiskey stones and tray will enable to you enjoy a cold glass of your favourite drink without any watering down.
These Canadian made whiskey stones are made from a stone called ‘Gabbro’ which was formed more than 2.5 billion years ago and when transferred from the freezer to your poison of choice will rapidly cool the liquid and keep it cold while you enjoy it’s finely balanced flavour palette, something ice will not allow for.
They’re a worthy investment and will prove to any visitors that you’re a man that’s serious about his drink. It’s also a great gift for your dad, stepdad, uncle or anyone else who’s a fan of hard liquor. Priced at $45, it’s an affordable gift that’s bound to impress and could be paired with some nice whiskey glasses or a bottle itself. Whatever your intended plans, Lithologie’s whiskey rocks will look killer in their wooden tray.

Sports stars and product-placement headphones go hand-in-hand. For years, we’ve seen them don large pairs of headphones on their way to and from games, matches, or anytime they aim to be focused. They’re usually the ones with the instantly recognisable ‘b’ logo on the side. But LA Lakers power forward LeBron James has changed the game by swapping out the chunky over ears for a slimline pair of in-ears instead.Spotted at the Lakers vs Miami Heat game on Saturday the 14th December, LeBron teams his wire-free in-ear headphones – the Beats PowerBeats Pro, yours for US$200 – with a casual all-white outfit that is the epitome of a style slam-dunk. Starting with his Our Legacy short-sleeve shirt with random doodle design (you can find the long-sleeve version here for €250), paired with cropped John Elliot Co jeans (the company dug his look so much they chucked it on their Instagram story) with frayed hem (yours for US$398), LeBron’s outfit is the ultimate in summer cool.

He finishes it off with a pair of Nike x New York Sunshine Air Force 1 sneakers. The sneakers were only released earlier this month for US$250, but are already commanding upwards of $700 on resale sites. LeBron’s certainly got himself an investment piece, then. He’s also exchanged his ‘lunchbox’ dopp bag for a Thom Browne East West tote in crocodile skin. We can only find nylon and canvas versions on the company’s website, where they will set you back US $1,190 a piece.

Your days of watching Looney Tunes may be over, but you can no doubt recall the funny looks and mannerisms of all of the different characters. The original rendition of the show aired from April 1930 to July 1969 and was later revived in 1987 and is still created and aired today. To date, there have been 1,041 different episodes, which is huge (the Simpsons has a mere 654 episodes to its name, some 387 less than Looney Tunes).
Enough history and stats, the reason why Looney Tunes is such a cult classic, is because of its iconic characters and simple (yet interesting) storylines which have aged timelessly decade after decade. For nearly a century children have been watching and enjoying Looney Tunes episodes and recently, Todd Snyder, Champion and Looney Tunes themselves came together to make a clothing line.
Don’t think that these are some cheesy Looney Tunes merchandise though. They feature a host of the shows most iconic characters and moments including Bugs Bunny, Tweety and Daffy Duck as well as the iconic closing frame “That’s all folks!”. All of these are printed onto Champion’s infamously good reverse weave hoodies, which are known for their unparalleled comfort and durability. Whether you yourself want to inject some fun into your casual wardrobe or know someone else that is a particularly big fan of the show, they’re a quality buy. Available from Todd Snyder for $198, they aren’t the cheapest hoodie you’ll find, but they’ll certainly stand out for all the right reasons.

A wristwatch is a must-have accessory for any guy. They come in many shapes and sizes, have various extra features and can be powered by a range of movements. They can command all manner of prices, too, from basic US$30 models right up to the most expensive model ever sold at auction, the Patek Phillipe Henry Graves Supercomplication, which fetched US$24 million in 2014.Unless I’m going for a swim in the ocean, I can usually be found with a watch on my wrist. I feel naked if I ever forget to put one on in the morning, even if I’m just walking to my local café to get a coffee. But despite having an interest in all things horology, I don’t believe you need to spend thousands on a timepiece. In fact, I prefer to buy more affordable models by choice. Here’s why.
The more the merrier
The main reason being I can buy more of them. Rather than save up for one standout timepiece, I can buy more affordable watches instead. This means I can have models of different sizes, colours, and materials so I can easily switch things up depending on the occasion or the clothes I’m wearing.
I understand spending big bucks on one piece can mark an occasion or an achievement, or simply just be an aspirational goal for someone. There are plenty of watches out there that I would love to own one day: a Tag Heuer Monaco featuring at the top of that list, but I know that unless I come into a large sum of money, it will never happen. And I’m one of the lucky ones with no University debt.
They can take a hit
Spending as little as possible on a new time-teller also means I don’t need to be so careful when it comes to daily wear and tear. Obviously I want to keep them in as good condition as possible; I’m no tyrant. But if they succumb to the odd bump or scratch, I don’t have a heart attack like I would if something happened to a Rolex.
They all do the same thing, right?
I know people will disagree with me here, and I’m aware that more expensive models have more accurate movements, but ultimately, all watches tell the time. Whether it’s a $100 Casio or a $10,000 Rolex, they both perform the same function.
Sure, you can have your perpetual calendars, moon-phase complications or tourbillions, but ultimately, I just want to know when it’s acceptable to have a beer, and a budget timepiece does this for me just fine.
So why do I need to spend one hundred times the amount to get the same result?
View this post on Instagram
I ain’t got no loyalties
By being able to afford multiple timepieces, I also don’t feel the necessity to be loyal to one brand. Some aficionados will only buy Rolex, or IWC for example, but I don’t face that same issue. I can happily flaunt a multitude of brands on my wrist. It’s even better when people ask me who I’m wearing because they don’t recognise the styling, and are often taken aback when they find out just how little it cost.
They don’t need servicing
Aside from the odd battery change every once in a while, my budget horological hour keepers don’t need regular maintenance, something that can’t be said of their more expensive cousins. Even ‘entry-level’ high-end watches need services to ensure they remain running smoothly. I’m likely to forget to have these services carried out if I were to ever invest in such a piece, luckily even I can tell when a battery has died.
You can actually find some bargains
Just because I’m talking about ‘affordable’ watches, doesn’t necessarily mean I have to scrimp on quality or brand. Some of the biggest names in the game produce timekeepers that are perfectly acceptable among the horological elite. Take the Timex Q for example or the Seiko 5 Sports. Both great watches that give newbies like me, a perfect first step into the big wide world of wristwear.

Forget his deleted-from-Instagram ‘python’ pic, which had fans around the globe questioning their lovers’ respective ‘anacondas’; Jason Derulo has just stepped out in London with such ‘Big Style Energy’ that his salacious Instagram antics may now just be a footnote to his casual-cool December vibes.Snapped exiting the BBC Radio 2 studios in London, England on Friday the 13th, Derulo flung us a Hawaii-worthy ‘shaka’ as well as a black leather jacket, a black scoop neck tee, two necklaces, artfully ripped grey jeans and black leather boots. The 30-year-old was there for The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show, where he talked up the upcoming star-studded feline musical film, which also features James Corden, Idris Elba and Taylor Swift.During the appearance, he also revealed that taking on the role of the iconic feline was quite a bit of a challenge, telling host Zoe Ball his character is “in your face” with “facial expressions… larger than life.”“He has trouble kind of staying in one idea. He may love a girl for one second but then he’s like, ‘nah, I’m good!’ ‘So yeah, he struggles with that aspect in his life and I think it kind of holds him back from being the greatest he could possibly be.’”
Speaking of ‘in your face’ antics, Derulo’s ‘Big Style Energy,’ we reckon, is a sartorial continuation from the ‘fire emoji’ vibes he has been throwing out on Instagram of late, where he first posted a seductive photo of himself in briefs, and then (when Instagram deemed it too spicy for public consumption), another one, this time with a baguette photoshopped over his ‘python.’
In any case, Derulo then went on to wear the same outfit to a photocall for the star-studded feline musical film ‘Cats‘ at the Corinthia Hotel London, later that same day, keeping things classy and cool, and not a photoshopped baguette (or python) was anywhere to be seen. So: you might not be able to score Derulo’s ‘undercarriage’ but you can certainly steal his style. Why not start now?
