Who is Evan Peters?

Evan Peters is an American actor who was born in St. Louis, Missouri to parents Julie and Phil. He has a brother, Andrew and a paternal half-sister, Michelle. In 2001, when Evan was 14, he moved to Michigan with his family where he took up some modelling work and enrolled in acting classes. A year later, clearly finding a passion for acting, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue a full time acting career.

Evan Peters Movies & TV Shows

Evan landed his first movie role in 2004 with Clipping Adam. He followed this with a number of television commercials and a recurring role in the Disney Channel TV show, Phil of the Future.

Showing a clear talent for more gritty dramas and horrors, Evan Peters landed supporting roles in An American Crime, Never Back Down and the sequel, Never Back Down 2: The Beatdown.

Other TV show appearances in 2008 included The Mentalist, House, Monk, The Office and Parenthood.

One of Evan Peters’ best-known roles (and which many consider to be his breakthrough role) was his portrayal of Tate Langdon in the first season of the incredibly popular American Horror Story anthology TV show.

He has since been cast in 9 of the current 11 seasons of American Horror Story, missing out on the ninth season from 2019, titled 1984 and the upcoming eleventh season, known as NYC, which is due for release on October 19th 2022.

Evan told GQ in 2018 that he found some of the “sinister stuff” extremely “exhausting.” He added, “It’s really mentally draining, and you don’t want to go to those places ever in your life. And so you have to go there for the scenes, and it ends up integrating it somehow into your life. You’re in traffic and you find yourself screaming and you’re like, ‘What the hell? This isn’t who I am.'”

X-Men

Many people may also know Evan Peters for his role in X-Men: Days of Future Past, X-Men: Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix as Peter Maximoff, which is based on the Marvel character, Quicksilver.

Whilst the character of Pietro Maximoff was portrayed by Aaron Taylor-Johnson in the 2015 Marvel movie, Avengers: Age of Ultra, Evan Peters reprised the role in the Disney Plus TV show, WandaVision, albeit an alternate version of the character to the one he portrayed in the X-Men movies.

Dahmer

Evan Peters’ latest TV show has been his portrayal of serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer in the 2022 Netflix miniseries, Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story. 32 Best Movies On Binge | Top IMDB Rated [2022]

Just when you think we’ve got enough video streaming services, Binge launched in 2020. Owned by Streamotion, a subsidiary of Foxtel, Binge is a streaming service that is only available in Australia.

And it has been welcomed with open arms since it gives Australians the chance to watch some of the best movies and TV shows that can’t be found on other streaming services Down Under.

So, if you’re looking for a good quality film that’ll keep you entertained right up until the credits begin to roll, then you’re in the right place. We’ve gone through the entire streaming platform and have listed the absolute best movies on Binge right now.

So, decide whether you’re in the mood for a comedy, action, horror, or some other genre — we’ve got all genres covered — and then get comfortable before you enjoy one of the following must-watch films.

Almost Famous

7.9 IMDb score, stars Billy Crudup, Patrick Fugit, Kate Hudson, Frances McDormand, Jason Lee & Zooey Deschanel, Adventure, Comedy & Drama, released in 2000

Set in the early 1970s, Almost Famous follows a high-schooler who is given the chance to accompany an up-and-coming rock band on their concert tour so he can write a story about the band for Rolling Stone magazine. Considered one of the best coming-of-age films ever made, Almost Famous is a must-watch.

Plus, all cast members deliver phenomenal performances and the plot is excellent.

Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery

7.0 IMDb score, stars Mike Myers, Elizabeth Hurley & Michael York, Comedy & Adventure, released in 1997

If you’re in the mood to laugh, there’s nothing better than a quality parody film. And not only is Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery the ultimate parody film, I’d argue it’s even better than the film it’s parodying, James Bond.

Plus, Mike Myers as both Austin and Dr Evil is just hilarious in this visually stunning and juvenile but lighthearted film.

Baby Driver

7.6 IMDb score, stars Ansel Elgort, Kevin Spacey, Lily James, John Hamm & Jamie Foxx, Action, Crime & Drama, released in 2017

Baby Driver was a breath of fresh air when it was released in 2017. Director Edgar Wright managed to perfectly blend a gripping story with a soundtrack that closely followed and matched whatever was happening on screen. The story follows a young hearing-impaired man who owes a crime boss a debt and so is forced to act as the getaway driver in an ill-fated heist. Thrilling from start to finish and complete with a soundtrack you’ll want to download immediately, Baby Driver is hugely entertaining.

If you’re a fan of cars, music, or heist-films, you’ll definitely love Baby Driver. If you don’t have a Binge subscription, you can still watch Baby Driver on Amazon Prime Video Australia

The Big Lebowski

Image Credit: Gramercy Pictures/PolyGram Filmed Entertainment

8.1 IMDb score, stars Jeff Bridges & John Goodman, directed by Joel & Ethan Coen, Comedy & Crime, released in 1998

When stoner Jeff ‘The Dude’ Lebowski’s rug is ruined by debt collectors who have mistaken him for a millionaire of the same name, The Dude sets out with his bowling buddies to find his namesake. Chaos ensues when The Dude becomes tangled in LA’s underworld of crime.

The Big Lebowski is hilarious and well-written, topped off with fantastic performances; hence why it became a cult classic.

BlacKkKlansman

7.5 IMDb score, stars John David Washington, Adam Driver, Laura Harrier, Topher Grace and Alec Baldwin, directed by Spike Lee, Biography, Comedy & Crime, released in 2018

BlacKkKlansman follows an African American police officer, Ron, who successfully infiltrates the local Ku Klux Klan branch and teams up with his Jewish colleague, Flip, to take them down through an impressive undercover operation. The film is set in the early 70s and is actually based on real events.

Complete with fantastic writing, directing and acting, BlacKkKlansman manages to convey a serious message in a respectful yet enjoyable way.

Blade Runner 2049

8.0 IMDb score, stars Harrison Ford & Ryan Gosling, Action & Drama, released in 2017

Blade Runner 2049 is the sequel to the 1982 movie, which also starred Ford. Surprisingly, for a sequel, Blade Runner 2049 is just as good, if not better than its predecessor, and even holds up well as a stand-alone film.

Set 30 years after the first film, Ryan Gosling plays a Blade Runner (police officers who track and eliminate fugitive ‘replicants’ – robots that look just like humans) named K who discovers a long-kept secret that leads him to track down missing Blade Runner Rick Deckard.

Whether you’re a fan of the cult classic Blade Runner or just love neo-noir sci-fi movies, you’ll highly enjoy Blade Runner 2049. If you don’t have a Binge subscription, you can still check out Blade Runner 2049 on Netflix Australia

Catch Me If You Can

8.1 IMDb score, stars Tom Hanks & Leonardo DiCaprio, directed by Steven Spielberg, Crime & Drama, released in 2002

Catch Me If You Can is based on the true story of Frank Abagnale Jr; a teenage con man who managed to pass millions of dollars through forged checks. Owing to the title, the film follows a cat and mouse storyline, with FBI agent Carl Hanratty (Hanks) constantly trying to catch Abagnale Jr (DiCaprio). Abagnale Jr loves the chase and often finds himself at least one step ahead.

If you enjoy well-written films paired with impeccable acting, Catch Me If You Can is a must-watch. If you don’t have a Binge subscription then you can check out Catch Me If You Can on Netflix Australia.

The Dark Knight

9.0 IMDb score, stars Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Aaron Eckhart, Michael Caine, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Gary Oldman & Morgan Freeman, directed by Christopher Nolan, Action, Crime & Drama, released in 2008

The second instalment of Nolan’s Batman trilogy, The Dark Knight is considered one of the best superhero films of all time. Brilliant as a stand-alone film, as almost everyone knows Batman’s origin story, told in Nolan’s Batman Begins, the plot of The Dark Knight is extremely compelling and the acting, especially Ledger as The Joker, is superb.

Whether you’re a fan or not of superhero films, you have to watch The Dark Knight as it’s a grounded comic book adaptation that’s an outstanding piece of cinema.

A Few Good Men

7.7 IMDb score, stars Tom Cruise, Jack Nicholson, Demi Moore, Kevin Bacon & Kiefer Sutherland, directed Rob Reiner, Drama & Thriller, released 1992

A Few Good Men follows military lawyer, Lt. Daniel Kaffee, played by Cruise, as he defends Marines accused of murder who contest that they were simply following orders. The film is critically acclaimed for its screenplay, direction, themes, and acting, especially Cruise, Nicholson and Moore’s performances.

If you love a good courtroom drama or military focused films, A Few Good Men is a must-watch.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall

7.1 IMDb score, stars Jason Segel, Kristen Bell, Mila Kunis, Russell Brand & Paul Rudd, Comedy, Drama & Romance, released in 2008

When Sarah Marshall, a television star, dumps her boyfriend of five years, Peter; he’s devastated. Trying to heal and process the breakup, Peter decides to go on vacation to Hawaii, only to discover Sarah is also on holiday at the same resort with her new rockstar boyfriend.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall has some genuinely funny moments and likeable, relatable characters; if you’re after a good laugh, this is the film for you.

Game Night

6.9 IMDb score, stars Jason Bateman, Rachel McAdams & Jesse Plemons, Comedy, Action & Crime, released 2018

A group of friends who regularly have ‘games nights’ together decide to shake things up by playing a game that involves solving a live-action role-played kidnapping. However, they soon realise that the kidnapping is not a part of a game; it was real and their lost friend is now in real danger.

Plemons truly steals the show acting-wise in Game Night but Bateman and McAdams also have their moments. The film is genuinely funny and perfect for when you’re in the mood for something lighter.

The Godfather

9.2 IMDb score, stars Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, James Caan & Diane Keaton, Crime & Drama, released in 1972

Considered one of the best films of all time, The Godfather follows the Italian-American crime family of Don Vito Corleone. The don’s youngest son, Michael is reluctant to join the ‘family business’ but soon becomes a ruthless mafia boss; putting strain on his relationship with his wife.

The Godfather redefined mob movies and is truly groundbreaking. The Godfather is a film you have to watch before you die, and if you’ve seen it already… watch it again; you know how good it is.

Harry Potter & The Philosopher’s Stone

7.6 IMDb score, stars Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint & Emma Watson, Adventure, Family & Fantasy, released in 2001

Feeling nostalgic? Go back and relive your youth with Harry Potter & The Philosopher’s Stone. Binge actually has all eight Harry Potter films, so you can enjoy a wizardly movie marathon. Never seen Harry Potter? You’re seriously missing out; the series follows a young boy who must face off against a powerful yet evil wizard.

Despite – technically – being a kid’s movie, the plot and acting is really good, and is well worth a watch (or re-watch).

Invictus

7.3 IMDb score, stars Morgan Freeman & Matt Damon, Biography, Drama & History, released in 2009

Invictus tells the true story of how in his first term as President of South Africa, Nelson Mandela joined forces with Francois Pienaar, South Africa’s rugby team captain, to unite their country in the wake of Apartheid. Both Freeman and Damon (rightfully) earned Oscar nominations for their performances in this film.

History buffs and sports fans will especially get a kick out of Invictus, but so will others as overall, it’s an inspiring and enjoyable film.

Jurassic World

7.0 IMDb score, stars Chris Pratt & Bryce Dallas Howard, Action, Adventure & Sci-Fi, released in 2015

Set 22 years after the events of the classic film Jurassic Park, Jurassic World is set on the same island which is now a successful theme park and luxury resort where genetically engineered dinosaurs are the main attraction. But when the most vicious dinosaur escapes, Owen, a former military man and expert played by Pratt, must use his skills to save the tourists from death.

Hugely nostalgic and with great visual effects, if you’re a fan of the original Jurassic Park films or just like Pratt as an actor, you’ll enjoy Jurrasic World.

Kick-Ass

7.6 IMDb score, stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Chloë Grace Moretz & Nicholas Cage, Action, Comedy & Crime, released in 2010

Kick-Ass follows high school student, Dave Lizewski who’s obsessed with comic books, as he decides to become a superhero despite having no superpowers, no combat training, or any real reason to do so. Dave quickly discovers, though, that not only have others already become real-life superheroes but they do it much better than him. This film is hilarious and explores what would happen if those of us who have daydreamed about becoming comic book heroes actually decided to pursue it.

Kick-Ass is a fresh, original take on the almost overdone comic book film genre, that will genuinely put a smile on your face.

Knives Out

7.9 IMDb score, stars Daniel Craig, Chris Evans, Ana De Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Christopher Plummer & Toni Collette, Comedy & Crime, released in 2019

The only way to describe Knives Out is clever. Within the first ten minutes, you’ll think you’ve figured the whole murder mystery out. But then the rug is pulled out from under you and you’ll be so engrossed in this witty comedy trying to figure out the puzzle. Enjoyable, compelling and refreshingly original; plus every member of the stellar ensemble cast is on their A-game acting-wise.

Knives Out is arguably better written than an Agatha Christie novel and is a movie you have to see at least once before you die.

Orphan

7.0 IMDb score, stars Vera Farmiga, Peter Sarsgaard & Isabelle Fuhrman, Horror & Mystery, released in 2009

A truly chilling film, Orphan follows a married couple who adopt a nine-year-old girl after losing their unborn baby. However, when a series of dark and dangerous events unfold, the couple begins to suspect that the seemingly angelic child they adopted, may be evil. Orphan is gripping, extremely well-directed, and child actor Fuhrman gives an outstanding acting performance.

If you enjoy thrillers with great twists and elements of the horror genre, Orphan is a must-watch.

The Other Guys

6.7 IMDb score, stars Will Ferrell, Mark Wahlberg, Eva Mendes, Michael Keaton, Samuel L. Jackson & Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, directed by Adam McKay, Comedy, Action & Crime, released in 2010

When a minor case suddenly becomes a major one, disgraced NYPD detectives Gamble and Hoitz, played by Ferrell and Wahlberg, who are typically desk-bound, seize the opportunity to solve the case like the all-star Detectives Highsmith and Danson, played by Jackson and Johnson, who Gamble and Hoitz admire.

A hilarious buddy-cop film with a detective plotline that’s actually decent is what makes The Other Guys so good.

Point Break

7.3 IMDb score, stars Patrick Swayze & Keanu Reeves, Action, Crime & Thriller, released in 1991

A string of bank robberies leads to young FBI agent, Johnny Utah being sent undercover as a surfer (because the FBI believes the robbers are also surfers). However, when Utah meets Bohdi, a hot-headed avid surfer, he begins to genuinely care for the man who’s potentially behind all the robberies.

If you’re a fan of surfing or crime films (or both), you’ll enjoy this classic film immensely.

Pulp Fiction

8.9 IMDb score, stars John Travolta, Uma Thurman, Samuel L. Jackson, Bruce Willis & Tim Roth, directed by Quentin Tarantino, Crime & Drama, released in 1994

Four stories cleverly intertwine in this black comedy co-written and directed by Tarantino. Witty, violent, and graphic, the complex story of Pulp Fiction is executed perfectly, thanks to an excellent screenplay and phenomenal acting from all cast members.

There’s a reason people argue that Pulp Fiction is Tarantino’s best film; which is why if you haven’t seen it, you should watch it immediately.

Seven

8.6 IMDb score, stars Morgan Freeman, Brad Pitt, Kevin Spacey & Gwyneth Paltrow, Crime, Drama & Mystery, released 1995

Seven follows two detectives, played by Freeman & Pitt, as they try to hunt down a serial killer, whose victims represent the seven deadly sins. The ending of the film is considered as one of the most haunting endings of all time, and the lead up to it is smartly told with sharp dialogue and skilful performances from the cast, especially Freeman, Pitt and Spacey.

Seven is thrilling and a definite must-watch; and even if you’ve seen it, rewatch it as you’ll pick up details you didn’t notice during your first viewing.

Shaun Of The Dead

7.9 IMDb score, stars Simon Pegg & Nick Frost, Comedy & Horror, released in 2004

Man-child Shaun, a 30-something electronics salesman, lives with his lazy roommate Ed in the outskirts of London. Their boring lives are interrupted when the zombie apocalypse breaks out and the two men, along with their friends and loved ones take refuge in a pub.

Shaun Of The Dead perfectly combines comedy with horror and is a film you have to watch; particularly if you love witty satires.

Shazam!

7.0 IMDb score, stars Zachary Levi, Mark Strong & Adam Brody, Action, Adventure & Comedy, released in 2019

Fourteen-year-old Billy Batson is no ordinary teen. By shouting the word ‘Shazam’ he’s able to transform into an adult superhero with awesome powers. However, even when transformed, Billy has the mind of a boy and has to quickly master his new powers otherwise they’ll be stolen by the evil Dr Thaddeus Sivana.

It’s a tad of a wacky premise but it works and Zachary Levi (as always) is a delight. If you’re after an extremely lighthearted and funny superhero film, Shazam! is for you.

Spider-Man: No Way Home

8.3 IMDb score, stars Tom Holland, Zendaya & Benedict Cumberbatch, Action, Adventure & Fantasy, released in 2021

It’s rare for a Marvel Cinematic Universe film to be available on any other platform besides Disney+, and yet Binge managed to get Spider-Man: No Way Home. The film follows Peter Parker dealing with the whole world knowing he’s Spider-Man after Mysterio outed him at the end of the last Spider-Man film.

With Doctor Strange’s help, Peter Parker tries to rectify the issue but things go wrong when people from other dimensions in the multiverse start to appear… and wreak havoc. This film is fun and action-packed; perfect for Spider-Man fans, MCU fans and essentially anyone who enjoys a lighthearted comic-book film.

Step Brothers

6.9 IMDb score, stars Will Ferrell, John C. Reilly & Adam Scott, directed by Adam McKay, Comedy, released in 2008

Filled with many laugh-out-loud moments, Step Brothers follows two 40-year-olds who still live at home and have absolutely no life goals. The two middle-aged men become step-brothers after their parents marry, and are essentially forced to become roommates. Despite a ridiculous premise, Step Brothers is hilarious with dialogue that’s highly quotable.

If you’re in the mood to laugh, look no further than Step Brothers.

Taxi Driver

8.2 IMDb score, stars Robert De Niro & Jodie Foster, directed by Martin Scorsese, Crime & Drama, released in 1976

Sometimes, there’s nothing better than a classic film and Taxi Driver is exactly that. The film follows a taxi driver (and Vietnam War veteran) as his mental state begins to deteriorate and decides to make the world a better place through whatever means necessary.

Considered one of the best films of all time, make sure you add Taxi Driver to your watch list.

Tenet

7.4 IMDb score, stars John David Washington, Robert Pattinson, Kenneth Branagh & Michael Caine, directed by Christopher Nolan, Action, Sci-Fi & Thriller, released in 2020

Washington stars in Tenet as an agent tasked with a secret and dangerous mission: prevent World War III by manipulating the flow of time. Tenet is definitely Nolan’s most complex plotline to date so it does require the viewer’s full attention and brainpower but the film features stunning cinematography and wonderful performances from the entire cast.

If enjoyed Nolan’s previous film Inception, you’ll definitely appreciate Tenet.

This Is 40

6.2 IMDb score, stars Paul Rudd, Leslie Mann, Jason Segel & Megan Fox, Comedy, Drama & Romance, released in 2012

This Is 40 is a spinoff/sequel to the popular comedy film, Knocked Up. Following a married couple who are both about to turn 40, the film explores the hilarious but sad truth of growing older.

Rudd shines in This Is 40 thanks to his incredible acting skills; he’s perfect in both comedic and dramatic moments.

Top Gun

6.9 IMDb score, stars Tom Cruise & Val Kilmer, Action & Drama, released in 1986

A classic film, Top Gun is a great action flick that you can watch again and again. Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell, played by Cruise, is a hot-head pilot competing against Iceman, a level-headed pilot played by Kilmer, to win the prestigious ‘Top Gun’ award.

Top Gun has a simple plot but fantastic action scenes and unbelievable aerial sequences as well as an awesome 80s soundtrack.

The long-awaited sequel, Top Gun 2: Maverick, will finally launch in Australia on May 27 2022, more than 30 years after the original.

Total Recall

7.5 IMDb score, stars Arnold Schwarzenegger & Sharon Stone, Action, Adventure & Sci-Fi, released in 1990

Set in 2084, Total Recall, based on a short story by Philip K. Dick, follows construction worker, Douglas Quaid, who visits a company that specialises in implanting false memories into people’s brains so that they can experience the thrill of holidaying on planet Mars. However, something goes wrong and Quaid discovers that his entire life is actually a false memory.

If you love sci-fi films like Blade Runner and Minority Report (also adaptations of Philip K. Dick’s work) or are a fan of 80s action films, you have to give Total Recall a watch.

Wrath of Man

The cold and mysterious Patrick Hill gets a job at a cash transport company in LA. When Patrick thwarts an attempted highjacking and kills six of the highjackers, his colleagues begin to wonder who exactly Patrick is.

Wrath of Man is a ‘classic’ Statham film – violent, action-packed and thrilling.

2001: A Space Odyssey

Rado’s Retrofuturistic DiaStar Is The Most Surprising Watch Release Of 2022
Rado’s Retrofuturistic DiaStar Is The Most Surprising Watch Release Of 2022

Rado is one of the most underrated and quietly influential brands in the entire watch industry – and their latest, rather surprising release reminds us both of their rich history as well as their innovative, avant-garde edge.

All top watch brands are known for a core competency. Piaget is known for ultra-thin watches. Zenith is known for its high-beat movements. Rolex is known for water resistance. The list goes on… In comparison, Rado has long been known for scratch-resistant watches and high-tech materials, especially ceramics.

Indeed, Rado brought the world’s first scratch-proof watch to market in 1962: the DiaStar 1, which gained these properties thanks to a case made with a tungsten carbide alloy the brand called ‘hardmetal’ and a faceted sapphire crystal glass – an unusual feature as at the time most watches only used acrylic or mineral glass.

While the DiaStar line has seen sporadic updates over the last six decades, it’s fallen into obscurity in recent years – although Rado’s latest release is likely to change that. The Rado DiaStar Original 60-Year Anniversary Edition (ref. R12163118), as the name implies, revisits the iconic watch but adding subtle but notable changes to mark its six decades of impact.

To do this, Rado enlisted the services of renowned Swiss designer Alfredo Häberli, who has blessed the watch with his distinctly minimal yet charmingly light-hearted aesthetic while also making nods to DiaStar designs from the past.

The DiaStar 60YR with its travel case and two strap options.

To this end, the DiaStar 60YR features a monochromatic stainless steel colour scheme, broken up by only the tiniest smatterings of Super-LumiNova across the watch’s dial, including a single aperture at 6 o’clock pointing down to the date window.

While it appears as if the watch is totally steel, the ‘coiffe’ of the case is actually made from polished Ceramos – a proprietary Rado alloy of titanium carbide and high-tech ceramic which is lighter than hardmetal but carries the same scratch-resistant qualities, with an unusual tone and lustre that makes it absolutely unique.

The most unique feature of the DiaStar 60YR is its hexagonally faceted sapphire crystal – six facets to mark six decades of the DiaStar. It’s incredibly striking and unlike anything else on the market. It’s like the crystal itself is a giant, well, sapphire; a time-telling gem.

Under the hood beats the gold-plated Rado R764 automatic movement, which boasts an 80-hour power reserve, an anti-magnetic Nivachron hairspring and 100m of water resistance. You also get two choices of strap for the 60YR: a mottled grey textile strap or a Milanese bracelet, both of which can be quickly swapped out thanks to Rado’s EasyClip system.

A close-up of the DiaStar 60Yr, which demonstrates the unique optical effect of the faceted crystal.

There’s just something about the DiaStar 60YR that evokes the space age – maybe it’s its UFO-like tonneau case, maybe it’s its minimalist dial, maybe it’s the funky faceted crystal that reminds you of an alien’s eye… It’s very ‘Jetsons’; very retrofuturistic. We absolutely love it.

The term ‘statement piece’ gets thrown around a lot by watch journalists but we can’t help but feel that’s the only way to describe the DiaStar 60YR. This is a real aficionado’s watch, but one that will be appreciated by anyone who loves striking design. It’s just unlike anything else that’s been released this year, or in recent memory.

The best bit? The price. Rado is only asking AU$2,950 for it, which is an extremely reasonable price for a watch that uses such high-tech materials, offers so much from a useability perspective and is so distinct from everything else on the market.

Find out more about the Rado DiaStar Original 60-Year Anniversary Edition here. For proper watch nerds, Rado has even put together a cool online booklet that goes into more detail about the DiaStar’s history as well as Häberli’s design process, which you can find here.

Genius Way To Tell If Your Flight Is Going To Be Cancelled
Genius Way To Tell If Your Flight Is Going To Be Cancelled

A Good Samaritan has shared a genius way of checking if your flight has a high probability of getting cancelled. That hack? Checking its historical flight data.

We’ve all been screwed over by a flight cancellation at one point. But what if there was a way to avoid this nasty surprise? Though you might not be able to stop an airline from cancelling your flight, thanks to a handy new hack, you could stop it from being a surprise.

WATCH: What To Do If Your Flight Gets Cancelled

That’s right, as first reported by Pedestrian TV, a member of the Facebook group ‘Why We Hate Jetstar’ has taken to the Internet with a surprisingly smart way to get some forewarning about whether your flight is liable to be cancelled.

“If you are going to fly with Jetstar (especially International long-haul for a family holiday),” Facebook user Charlie Sun wrote, “take some time to check the flight history and make a plan B if possible.”

“My original booking was 29.Sep, JQ7 from Melbourne to Singapore. Yesterday when I was preparing our stuff for next week’s flight, I checked the history of this flight on FlightRadar24 and Flightstats. Oh man, I was shocked…the flight was DELAYED MORE THAN 10 HOURS EVERYDAY SINCE AUGUST, with some flights cancelled.”

“Flightstats rated the JQ7 zero stars for the on-time performance. I have already booked another flight (Qantas QF35) and applied for cancellation and refund from Jetstar. This is our first family flying since the COVID pandemic. I won’t take the risk to ruin it.”

Basically, what he is recommending is that you go to the data section of Flightradar24 and plug in your flight number. The page then shows you if that flight number has had a poor track record or a reliable one.

This shows you if your particular route (and flight number) has been a mess of late (or not). Given the turbulent times the aviation industry is going through lately of misplaced luggage, cancelled flights and delays, this hack could be one well worth paying attention to.

The other way to tell if your flight has a higher than usual chance of being cancelled is pretty simple: check the weather.

As one airline pilot told Travel + Leisure: “The most obvious clue, of course, is checking the weather… Some hubs are more prone to delays than others.” A few inches of snow at an airport hub that’s used to snow may be no big deal. But if there is an out-of-the-ordinary weather event at a hub with already-limited slots then you might start getting concerned about delays.

According to the Australian Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts, in June 2022, almost every airline in Australia suffered significantly from flight cancellations. Rex had the lowest percentage of flight cancellations for June 2022 out of all Australia’s airlines, with a total of 0.7%, while Jetstar had a rate of 5.5%, Virgin Australia a rate of 5.8% and Qantas had a rate of 7.5%.

Ben Simmons Buys $20 Million Bachelor Pad Just Weeks After Break-Up
Ben Simmons Buys $20 Million Bachelor Pad Just Weeks After Break-Up

Australian NBA player Ben Simmons has dropped a cool AU$20 million on a new home, just weeks after breaking up with Maya Jama.

Last month, Australian-born NBA star, Ben Simmons broke up with his fiancee, British TV presenter, Maya Jama. While reports suggest Simmons and Jama’s split was amicable, and due to conflicting schedules and constant time apart, any break-up is hard – so we’d be willing to bet Simmons is feeling somewhat heartbroken.

But rather than licking his wounds with tried and tested methods such as eating copious amounts of ice cream or crying in the shower, Simmons has instead bought himself a man cave; a bachelor pad, if you will. And for a pretty damn penny.

According to The New York Post, the Brooklyn Nets basketballer is in contract to purchase a US$13 million (roughly AU$20 million) property in Dumbo – a trendy and affluent neighbourhood in Brooklyn, New York. The property is a combination of two units located in a luxury 33-story tower called, Olympia.

One unit is front-facing, meaning Simmons will have beautiful views of both the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges, and features five bedrooms. The other unit features three bedrooms.

Both are located on a high floor of Olympia and total approximately 5325 square metres – plenty of space for the shenanigans of a newly single man. Plus, Olympia boasts plenty of impressive building amenities.

It’s obvious that another reason Simmons has opted for this property is it’s a short drive from Barclays Center – home of the Brooklyn Nets. Although, Simmons is still yet to make his long-awaited debut for the team due to a back injury… Something, along with the whole Philadelphia 76ers trade fiasco, fans are still outraged about.

29 Best Sweatshirts For Men 2022
29 Best Sweatshirts For Men 2022

Regardless of whether the first week of winter is in the rear-view mirror or it’s stampeding straight towards you, a sweatshirt is an essential piece of clothing that you can wear all year round.

It’s hard to argue against the versatility of a sweatshirt. They’re perfect for loafing about on the couch when it’s raining cats and dogs outside, or combining one with a pair of tailored trousers to get you through that one day of the year when the office heating refuses to work.

As ridiculously comfy as sweatshirts are, it’s easy to look like a bit of a slob if you aren’t careful. The first nugget of wisdom to keep you out of vagrant territory is to pair oversized pieces with more tailored items. Slim jeans with a sloppy joe sweater, for example, will illustrate to people that you haven’t been booted to living on the streets (yet).

Layering is also key when wearing a sweatshirt. A collared Oxford shirt underneath a sweatshirt, for example, will always do you justice because a) layering in winter is a fundamental survival tool and b) it’ll smarten up your overall look. Finally, the last tool for avoiding the ‘bum chic’ is to look after your sweatshirt.

Sweatshirts can peel, warp, and decay if you don’t respect them. Fold sweatshirts in storage, rather than hanging them – this will stop the fabric warping and keep things looking crisp over time. Moths love chewing their way through sweatshirts, so try to ventilate your wardrobe, and brush your clothes regularly (moths can deposit eggs on clothes), so you don’t get holes in your sweatshirts.

The Coolest James Bond Car Ever Just Sold For Over $3 Million
The Coolest James Bond Car Ever Just Sold For Over $3 Million

The James Bond series is famous for its cool cars, particularly the Aston Martin DB5… And now the coolest DB5 ever made has just sold – for a serious figure.

Famed British auction house Christie’s and EON Productions are currently an amazing auction event called Sixty Years of James Bond: an official two-part charity sale celebrating the 60th anniversary of the iconic spy film franchise that boasts 60 iconic lots spanning the 25 Bond films.

The 60 lots, split between an online and a live auction, include a treasure trove of Bond goodies, including Timothy Dalton’s tuxedo from License To Kill, a Casino Royale script signed by the actors, producers and screenwriters; and even one of the Day of the Dead skeletons from Spectre.

But the vast majority of items come from the most recent Bond film, No Time To Die – the 25th in the franchise and Daniel Craig’s last stint as the famous fictional British agent – including the Aston Martin DB5 stunt car from the thrilling opening scene, which we reckon might just be the coolest Bond car ever.

The DB5, of course, is a staple of the franchise and one of the most iconic movie cars of all time. This DB5 is a cut above the rest, however.

One of only eight built specifically for James Bond and, to date, the only DB5 stunt car to be released for public sale, this was exclusively engineered and handcrafted by Aston Martin’s Special Projects division for No Time To Die, Christie’s explains. All the DB5 stunt cars were modified in different ways, with this car being one of a few to include the bespoke No Time To Die gadgets and mocked-up side panel damage.

What’s really cool is that this car is actually functional, as it was built specifically to perform dynamic stunts. Under the hood, it boasts a modern 3.2L inline-six petrol engine plus a manual gearbox. The body panels are all carbon fibre, as is much of the interior, and it boasts a beefed-up bespoke suspension and braking system uniquely engineered by Aston Martin Special Projects.

It’s not just some mocked-up shell: this is the real deal; as close as one can get to driving a functional Bond car. Cool, right?

What’s the catch? Well, you might technically be able to drive it, but it was sold as a ‘non-runner’ collector’s item and is not approved for use on any public roads or homologated. This is just a technicality – I mean, you’d probably be crazy to drive around something so rare on the streets anyway…

The DB5, part of the live portion of the auction, ended up selling for 2,922,000 of His Majesty’s finest pounds (~ 3,172,050 USD / 4,869,395 AUD), far surpassing Christie’s auction estimate of 1,500,000 – 2,000,000 GBP.

This DB5 wasn’t the only cool car that went under the hammer, either. A bunch of vehicles from No Time To Die were up for grabs – most of which smashed their auction estimates – including Bond’s 1981 Aston Martin V8 (which went for 630,000 GBP), Nomi’s Aston Martin DBS Superleggera (403,200 GBP), the Triumph Scrambler motorbike from the Italy opening sequence (138,600 GBP) plus two of the villainous Land Rover Defenders from the Norway chase scene (which didn’t beat their estimates and sold for 163,800 and 189,000 GBP respectively).

Other cool lots at the Sixty Years of James Bond live auction included the OMEGA Seamaster Diver 300M 007 Edition worn by Daniel Craig in the film (226,800 GBP) and a five-night stay at the luxurious Goldeneye estate in Jamaica where Ian Fleming wrote all fourteen Bond books (52,920 GBP).

While the live portion of the auction is over, the online portion is still running until October 5th, and contains goodies like signed posters and a bunch of outfits worn by Daniel Craig and others in the films.

Australians Are About To Pay A Lot More For Fuel
Australians Are About To Pay A Lot More For Fuel

If the cost of living and wage stagnation wasn’t bad enough in Australia, we’re all about to pay much more for petrol, with the fuel excise cut set to end.

The former Morrison government’s six-month halving of the fuel excise tax, announced in its last federal budget in March, is due to expire at midnight tonight.

Surprisingly, queues at petrol stations aren’t that bad – yet – although that’s in part because some petrol stations have already reportedly started to hike their prices in anticipation of the excise cut, which is a bit shonky (more on that later).

It wasn’t too long ago that we were seeing ridiculous queues at petrol stations to take advantage of the excise cut… Now we might see the reverse.

Petrol prices around the world have been exceptionally volatile thanks to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Russia is one of the world’s biggest fossil fuel exporters, and halts on Russian fuel imports and sanctions have deeply affected the fuel market (and global economy more broadly).

How much more will I be paying for fuel?

Once the excise cut ends, drivers can expect to pay about 25 cents per litre more for petrol – 22c more in excise and about 3c more in GST. Most cars have a 45 to 65-litre tank, so you’ll likely pay between $11.25 and $16.25 more per tank going forward (depending on location and fuel grade).

The NRMA’s Peter Khoury said his organisation, as well as the consumer watchdog, would closely monitor petrol prices, explaining “it will take several days in the capital cities and possibly even longer – up to two weeks – in regional areas [for prices to rise]… Because service stations already have existing stock before they go and restock fuel at the increased rates.”

That’s just it: petrol stations and companies have been buying fuel at a cheaper rate for months, and that fuel’s already in their tanks; they’ve already paid the excise – so theoretically, it shouldn’t mean prices leap immediately starting tomorrow.

That said, petrol companies are like banks: no matter the market, they’ll always win. Not all of the savings from the fuel excise cut were passed onto consumers, but you can bet they’ll jump at any chance to raise prices…
