A 50-year-old Chinese man, who goes by the name ‘Uncle Chen’, has gone viral after he ran the Xin’anjiang marathon in three hours 28 minutes all whilst chain-smoking a full packet of cigarettes.
Running a marathon is not easy, let alone if you’re filling your lungs up with smoke. But this new technique – one which we do not recommend you try – is something that doesn’t seem to stop Uncle Chen.
His three-hour 28-minute finishing time is roughly one hour faster than the average 50-year-old male can normally finish the 26-mile run; according to livestrong.com, the average marathon time for a 50-year-old man is around four hours and 19 minutes.
This time put him in 574th place out of a total of nearly 1500 runners. Very impressive given his ciggie consumption.
The photos went viral on the Chinese messaging app Weibo, and event organisers shared his finishing certificate afterwards.
But this is not the first time the “the new Marlboro man” (as one social media user put it) has been snapped running with his signature pack of durries. ‘Uncle Chen’ was also photographed running the 2018 Guangzhou Marathon and 2019 Xiamen Marathon lighting one up.

Both marathons he recorded insanely quick times, clocking a 3:36 in 2018 and a 3:32 in 2019.
He is also an ultra-marathon runner, having run distances over 50km all while puffing on a smoke.
According to some sources, Uncle Chen is not even a regular smoker, saving his darts for when it really matters on race day.
However, there are some that are critical of Uncle Chen’s technique. On the original post on Weibo one user commented, “Whoever is next to him is unlucky.”
Another commented, “Serious runners don’t smoke.”
Yet another quipped: “When you need the air to be ‘just as home.'”
But this takes away from what is a fairy remarkable – if completely bizarre – feat, which realistically, even the most seasoned runner would struggle to pull off.
There is currently no Guinness World Record time for quickest marathon while chain-smoking, but if there was, you can be sure that it would go straight to Uncle Chen.

A photo posted to Reddit shows a car with its windshield and back window caved in, and with Russian flag stickers appearing to be on it. The image, which is yet to be verified, has prompted a debate among the r/Sydney Reddit community about the pros and cons of community panel beating…
A car sitting in a petrol station car park in Erskineville (about 20 metres away from The Imperial) is alleged to have been smashed up at 1am on Sunday morning. Though damaged cars are often seen in this parking area (there is a mechanic next door), one Reddit user claims they saw the incident happen in the early hours of Sunday morning (the poster of the image, for their part, says it’s “a story that tells itself”).

One Reddit user wrote: “OMG I SAW THIS HAPPEN LIVE, I WAS WONDERING WTF WAS GOING ON, IT HAPPENED ON SATURDAY. Some dude jumped on the car and windshield and kicked the [sic] shit out of it, couldn’t see the russian paraphernalia [sic] from where my mates.”
Another added: “1am Sunday Morning, was leaving the imperial. Some dude by himself looked like he was in an ice rage he was so apoplectic. No police around when I was there, there would of been like 20 witnesses though.”

The photo sparked plenty of debate over whether smashing up the car was the right thing to do (or counterproductive, potentially playing into the hands of the Russian state media machine), and about the potential for Aussies to accidentally identify the wrong flags (“there’s probably a few nervous Dutchmen with Netherlands Stickers”).
“I’d be furiously scraping of anything resembling a Russian flag right now. So many variations of the tri-colour flags over the years,” one commenter wrote.

Another joked: “That dude must have been devo walking out of the signage store with a [prohibited] sticker to see the destruction wrought on his car.”
Yet another quipped: “I’m printing a crap tonne of Russian flags to start slapping them in those double lane Parker’s at Westfield. Finally a solution.”
More funnies included: “NATO sends their warm regards” and “Ford Trampoline.” Ah, Reddit, you never let us down. Unfortunately, moderators have now closed the comment section because “people can’t keep any form of civility here.” Before the thread was shut, however, further comments included the questioning of mob justice and the defending of it.
RELATED: Ukrainians Turning Russian Fighter Jet Scrap Into Luggage Tags
One wrote: “I’m u comfortable with the fact that some people would want to destroy property based off a flag. We have both Russian and Ukrainian shops, businesses etc here. Does ‘mob justice’ really do anything other than make the aggressor feel better and the victim of the vandalism aggrieved?”
“I’m Russian and living in Sydney. This may be an unpopular opinion but acts like this just perpetuate hate and do nothing to ease the sufferings of the Ukrainian people.”
“Yes, the person was an idiot for using the flag, but that doesn’t justify the destruction of property.”
“As it stands, this is an unwarranted act of vandalism that just serves to create further rifts in an already politically fractured climate.”

Others defended the smashing up of the car, saying no-one puts national flag stickers on their cars, and that this was clearly an act of provocation, the likes of which they are fine with resulting in a window whacking. On second thoughts, maybe we now understand why the moderators closed the thread…

Cristiano Ronaldo’s bombshell interview with Piers Morgan, where he revealed he felt “betrayed” by Manchester United, has led many fans to speculate that there are tensions between him and teammate Bruno Fernandes after an awkward handshake.
Both Manchester United players are both representing Portugal at this year’s FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Their frosty first interaction since the interview was filmed by CNN, which shows Fernandes approaching Ronaldo in the Portuguese dressing room, with the midfielder putting his hand on Ronaldo’s arm, before the five-time Ballon D’or winner reached out his hand to offer a handshake.
Fernandes very briefly – and awkwardly – shakes Ronaldo’s hand before moving to the other side of the dressing room.

Ronaldo seemed to look confused by the ordeal, which has sent social media into a frenzy about the state of their relationship.
“Yeah Ronaldo has lost what we thought he had ‘friends’. For Bruno to almost blank him, is saying something…” one user commented.
“Why did he do this before such an important tournament?” Another user questioned, “Two of the best players in that Portugal side are regular starters for Utd in Bruno and Dalot.”
“If you think that’s not going to play in their mind throughout the tournament, you’d be so wrong.”
But not all fans are taking the handshake to mean Fernandes is annoyed with his Man United teammate.
One user argued, “Stop making such a big deal out of it. They shook hands and got on with their day to prepare for the biggest tournament of their life.”
Cristiano Ronaldo’s Interview
Cristiano Ronaldo launched a scathing attack on Manchester United in his recent sit-down with controversial English journalist Piers Morgan, which has left some accusing him of going “full Anakin.”
The interview, which has only been released in excerpts prior to its air date on Wednesday and Thursday, saw the ex-Real Madrid star slam United’s manager Erik Ten Hag.
“I don’t have respect for him because he doesn’t show respect for me,” Ronaldo said.
“Not only for the coach, but another two or three guys around the club. I felt betrayed.”
His tirade was not only limited to the current manager, with Ronaldo criticising: the club’s American owners; the lack of improvement in the club in terms of facilities and technology; and senior executives who reportedly “didn’t believe” him when he informed them that his daughter was sick with bronchitis.
The latter caused him to miss Manchester United pre-season trip to Australia.

The Portuguese forward will be focused on trying to win the World Cup on his fifth attempt in Qatar in Bruno Fernandes, but once he returns, an exit from the Red Devils seems almost certain.

Qatar has been accused of paying hundreds of ‘fake supporters’ to attend World Cup parades.
The Qatar World Cup hasn’t even started, and already we’ve filled our boots with controversy. The main complaints so far have centred around the country’s human rights abuses and the weather. But if being forced to build a country (and its stadiums) under allegedly horrific conditions wasn’t enough, now migrant workers, it seems, are being paid to do the fans’ job for them too.
WATCH: Qatar accused of hiring ‘fake fans’ for World Cup
Though many football fanatics are outraged by this, saying it’s yet another example of a World Cup being conducted against the spirit of the game, before we chalk this up as yet another example of abuse, we should perhaps acknowledge that from the point of view of a migrant worker, this is actually a much cushier gig (we’re actually quite lucky to be over here calling this out as a matter of poor taste).
It’s also worth pointing out these are still only allegations (at this stage). That said, it looks pretty damning. Just check out the videos and comments on Qatar Living – Qatar’s first official community platform on TikTok – where fans from different countries are supposedly gathered in their hundreds.
RELATED: How To Watch World Cup 2022 In Australia
Commenters on TikTok have mocked the videos quite hard. One wrote: “These are just people that live in Qatar that got some t shirts… where’s the real fans?” Another said: “They ordered the fans from wish.” Yet another added: “No wonder I haven’t gotten any scam calls lately.” Others asked: “where the females at?” and “where are the girls dancing samba?” (underneath a video that purports to show Brazilian fans).
“If these people are Portuguese, I’m a Pineapple.”
Angry Twitter user @JR_24X
On Twitter, one enraged user said: “What’s happening in Qatar right now for the World Cup is the most embarrassing thing I’ve ever seen in Football. Due to fans boycotting the Qatar World Cup, they are paying fans to masquerade themselves as supporters of other nations.”
If these people are Portuguese, I’m a Pineapple. pic.twitter.com/lBZJj0dXUK
— JR. (@JR_24X) November 13, 2022
“Anyone that has ever been to a World Cup or a game with Brazilian fans will know that this is not how the Brazilians operate,” the same Twitter user added.
Another Twitter user said it’s actually quite common, writing: “This is actually very common in Asia. I highly doubt that they are paid supporters, as people from Asian countries that have failed to qualify to World Cup have always associated themselves with a country that plays regularly. They even do victory rallies.”
Another said: “Although this is very strange behaviour, it’s not due to fans boycotting. Have a look at ticket sales.”
It’s also possible there is an element of racism or ‘traditional-football-country-ism’ in people’s searing critique of these images. As football is not as big in Qatar as it is in England or Brazil, say, many football fans from these countries see these images coming out of Qatar as inevitably bogus. They may just be unwilling to accept that people from Qatar and co. are true fans.
But that would be a blinkered take on things as well. In fact, a large part of the anger around these videos could be explained as residual anger that the World Cup is being played in Qatar at all. The videos are just another excuse to get all up in arms and have your “it’s a bin fire” preconceptions confirmed.

That said, Qatar does have a track record of this kind of thing. As reported by The Sun, that ray of light that finds the darkest sh*t on the Internet on the daily, this is not the first time Qatar has been accused of hiring fake fans.
According to The Sun, “In 2014, Qatar was accused of employing migrant workers as sports fans in an effort to make largely empty arenas appear full” and at the time, “migrants said they were attending the Qatar Open of international beach volleyball for the money – not for the sport.”
“Numerous workers said they regularly make up numbers at sports events,” (The Sun).

The Guardian also reported on this, claiming migrant workers were paid around £3.50 to be volleyball fans.
For those who are still only really interested in the soccer, the World Cup kicks off on November 21st, 3am AEST.

Actor Brad Pitt reportedly “stressed” the Aston Martin Formula 1 Team after visiting them at the United States Grand Prix last month, due to staying around the paddock for too long.
The Fight Club and Bullet Train star is filming an upcoming movie where he plays a Formula One driver who comes out of retirement to mentor a young rookie driver. Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton is set to act as a producer and consultant on the set, with Top Gun: Maverick director Joseph Kosinski directing the movie.
However, Aston Martin F1 Team Principal Mike Krack revealed to Motorsport Magazine that during the actor’s visit to the Dallas Circuit of the Americas started to weigh heavy on the motor racing team.
“They were with us for a very long time, much longer than expected,” Mr Krack explained.
“To be honest, it even messed up our schedule. We were a bit stressed then.”
Despite Brad Pitt and his team causing a stir within Aston Martin, Mr Krack still remained cordial, saying, “We will support the project as best we can and see how involved we are. Team owner Lawrence Stroll was also involved.”

The Aston Martin Team are by no means the only motor racing team excited for the upcoming movie.
Speaking to Sky Sports, McLaren Team Principal Andreas Seidl talked about his excitement for the film, “Their goal is to make the best Formula 1 film. I’m sure they can do it.”
He continued, “It’s going to be great, also for Formula 1. I think it should be more like ‘Top Gun’, only with cars. We’re excited.”
Apple Studios have reportedly picked up the film ahead of its release.
Brad Pitt Snub

The stars were out at the 2022 United States Grand prix, which ultimately saw Red Bull’s Max Verstappen coming out on top. Celebrities such as Ed Sheeran, Shaquille O’Neal and Pharrell Williams were all in appearance, but it was ultimately Brad Pitt who had F1 fans chatting.
Outside of the Aston Martin team shenanigans, the actor looked to snub popular Sky Sports commentator and former driver Martin Brundle, when Mr Brundle was attempting to ask him a question.
RELATED: Francis Bourgeois Should Replace Martin Brundle For The Formula 1 Grid Walk
But the racing pundit later took to Twitter to reveal that Brad Pitt had apologised to him after ignoring him on the grid.
He wrote, “Got a note from Brad Pitt explaining what happened with our near miss on the Austin grid. Unnecessary, but nice of him.
“Absolutely nobody is obliged to talk to me on the grid, bus as I endeavour to make 10/12 minutes of live and unscripted sports TV I’m obliged to at least ask.”
Fair to say Brad Pitt might not be getting the invite back to the Aston Martin garage next year.

Hold onto your eccentric hat and squeeze the frilly neck of your ruff: SNL court jester Pete Davidson and American model Em Rata are rumoured to be dating.
Emily Ratajkowski and Pete Davidson are allegedly dating. The news, which comes from the ever-prescient Instagram celebrity gossip account @deuxmoi, is that the two have allegedly been on a very affectionate date in New York City.
WATCH: Emily Ratajkowski dating Pete Davidson: rumour explained
The tip-off came from a source who claimed (in all caps): “EM RATA AND PETE DAVIDSON ON A DATE IN BROOKLYN TOGETHER. HOLDING HANDS AND ALLLLL.”
The source then added: “His hands were all over her and they’re clearly clearly hooking up.”

“Pete Davidson has bagged yet another 10 and another milf I don’t know what’s going on; he has a show to work on, she is busy…” read the announcer of the ‘news’ on @deuxmoi’s Instagram account.
Perhaps we shouldn’t be too surprised. Ratajkowski has talked about Davidson before. In 2021, while on Late Night with Seth Meyers, in answer to why so many women find him attractive, she said: “He’s got the height. Obviously, women find him very attractive… he seems super charming. He’s vulnerable. He’s lovely. His fingernail polish is awesome. He looks good! He’s great! Good relationship with his mother. We love it.”

Ratajkowski recently broke up with her ex-husband Sebastian Bear-McClard. Speaking of this time in her life, she told Harper’s Bazaar, “I can tell you that I have never been single before. I feel all the emotions. I feel anger, sadness. I feel excitement. I feel joy. I feel levity. Every day is different. The only good thing I know is that I’m feeling all those things, which is nice because it makes me believe that I’ll be okay.”
Ratajkowski shared more thoughts about the kind of dates she wanted in her life on her podcast, saying: “There are babies, there are monsters, and then there are baby monsters.” She added: “The babies are the men who need to be tended to and reassured at every turn. The monsters who are like, ‘Sorry that your mom died, but want to come over?’ And then the third are the worst… and those are the men that I can’t handle. They need reassurance, they need to be cradled and suckle at the teat. But then they’re also like, ‘Leave me alone though, woman.’”

I guess it’s safe to assume Pete Davidson is none of those men… However, for those prone to jumping the gun on rumours, paragon of wisdom and austerity Cosmopolitan urges us all to take a deep breath before assuming they are a ~thing~, pointing out that “neither Pete nor EmRata appear to have confirmed these rumors” and “‘sources’ have yet to speak to any outlets [other than @deuxmoi] to confirm these rumors.”
We’re sure that won’t stop the Internet from going into overdrive, however…

LIV Golf, the occasionally controversial Saudi-backed gold tournament that promises huge prize money payouts, has announced it will be hosting a tournament in Australia in 2023, with Adelaide being the venue of choice.
The organisers of LIV Golf, which includes CEO and former professional player Greg “The Shark” Norman, have chosen The Grange Golf Club in Adelaide, South Australia, to be the first golf club to host a LIV Golf event. The east course at The Grange was designed by Greg Norman himself, so we can assume that played a role in it being chosen.
However, other golf courses in Sydney and Brisbane were also inspected, although it’s claimed The Royal Sydney Golf Club wanted to play no part in being shortlisted. The state of Victoria also chose not to put itself in the running to be selected, preferring to take sides with the PGA.
The Australian stop on the LIV Golf series will take place from April 21-23, two weeks after the US Masters, and will continue to take place Down Under for the next four years. Australian golfer and British Open winner, Cameron Smith, will more than likely take part, having deferred to LIV Golf from the PGA Tour earlier in 2022. Fellow Australian golfer and LIV Golf player, Marc Leishman, is also expected to take to the course in Adelaide.
Other big names that will be heading to Australia in April 2023 will include Dustin Johnson, Phil Mickelson and Sergio Garcia. Prize money for the Australian LIV Golf tournament is estimated to be AU$38 million, with the winner pocketing about AU$6 million.
LIV Golf will be the first annual, high-profile golf tournament to make its way to Australia, since the PGA Tour doesn’t make a stop off on our shores. The last major golf tournament to take place in Australia was the Presidents Cup in Melbourne, 2019.
“This is an opportunity to grow the game with generations of Australians while connecting them with star players like Cameron Smith who are building a new platform for golf around the globe,” Greg Norman said of Australia hosting a LIV Golf event.
“There is massive potential for Australia to play a bigger role in this great sport, and I couldn’t be more excited to showcase Adelaide for our league’s debut year.”
LIV Golf was formed in 2019, but the first tournament didn’t begin until 2022. It was developed as an alternative to the well-established PGA Tour, but plays out in a different format. Golfers head out onto the golf course in teams of four, each with a captain, and play for much bigger paycheques. Many consider the greater financial rewards to be the biggest incentive for PGA golfers that have deferred to the LIV Golf series, although many of them dispute this.
Since its inception, more and more golfers have been defected to LIV Golf, many of which are huge names within the sport, including those mentioned above and others such as Bubba Watson, Brooks Koepka and Paul Casey.

Australia are set to host the inaugural ‘United Cup’, a new mixed tennis tournaments featuring 16 countries going toe-to-toe against one another.
The event will be held Sydney and features some of the top talent in tennis from Spanish tennis legend Rafael Nadal to women’s world number one Iga Swiatek.
Taking place between 29 December to 8 January, the event will replace the ATP cup, following three editions of the tournament being poorly attended and plagued with logistical issues.
Each tie will feature two men’s singles matches, two women’s singles matches and a mixed doubles match.
Matches will be held across Brisbane, Perth and Sydney with the semi-finals and finals being held in latter. Australia will also play their group games solely in Sydney.
The tournament follows straight on from the World Tennis League in Dubai, and is one of the first events before the Australian Open in 2023.
Australia’s Team

Australia has a team filled to the brim with quality players.
Fan-favourite and 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios will lead the Australian team.
Fans are very interested to see him pair up with former girlfriend and No. 33 ranked Alja Tomljanovic.
Alex de Minaur, who just defeated world number 3 Daniil Medvedev, will also feature in the squad.
Round off Australia’s eight-man line-up is Jason Kubler, Zoe Hives and Maddison Ingles and doubles players John Peers and Samantha Stosur.
‘Group of Death’

It will not be an easy ride for the Australians though, as they have been matched up with the United Kingdom and tennis powerhouses Spain.
Captaining Spain’s team is 22-time Grand Slam winner and current world No. 2 Rafael Nadal. The current world number Carlos Alcaraz has not been listed in Spain’s squad – this at least gives Australia more of a chance!
This means Nick Kyrgios will likely play Rafael Nadal in what will surely be a barnburner of a game. Nadal is currently 6-3 against the Australian, with the Spaniard winning their last encounter at the Indian Wells Masters earlier this year.
The UK team features World No. 14 Cameron Norrie as well as an array of talent across both the men and women.
Fingers crossed the Aussies can pull this one out the bag at home.

Rapper Drake has lost his biggest sports bet to date, squandering an enormous 2 million Canadian dollars (AU $2.3 million) on Israel Adesanya this weekend, after the fighter was knocked out at the main event of UFC 281.
The Grammy Award winner would have been feeling content up until the fifth round, with Adesanya largely taking the upper hand in the fight and winning on all three judges’ score cards. That was until Adesanya’s opponent Alex Pereira landed some huge blows, stopping the fight and shockingly dethroning the long-time UFC Middleweight Champion.
This was the third time Pereira defeated Adesanya in combat sports, the previous two coming when the two met in kickboxing matches in 2016 and 2017.
Drake announced his huge bet on his Instagram, captioning his story “been focused on the album gotta get back to stacking up.”
If Adesanya was victorious on Saturday – Sunday afternoon for many Australian watchers – Drake would have pocketed a sweet CA $2.9 million (AU $3.2 million).
‘Drake Curse’

The most recent UFC card is not the first time ‘Drizzy’ has bet big but ended up with his pockets feeling a little lighter.
At UFC 278, the rapper lost a reported $430,000 (AU $642,000) after betting on fighters Kamaru Usman and José Aldo, both of whom lost their respective bouts.
Similarly at UFC 274, the rapper put $427,000 (AU $638,000) on American Justin Gaethje, in his fight against then-Lightweight Champion Charles Oliveira. As is Drake’s luck, Gaethje would be submitted in the first round.
The amusing thing about the Drake curse is that is not simply limited to the UFC and the bets he puts on. Some sports stars who have done as little as pose with Canadian in the past have fallen foul to his ghostly jinxing.
Manchester City’s players took photos with ‘6 God’ in 2019, only to found they shockingly bowed out to Tottenham Hotspur shortly after in the UEFA Champions League.
Similarly, Drake spent a lot of time backstage with UFC fighter Conor McGregor in the lead up to his hyped grudge match with Khabib Nurmagomedov back in 2018; the Irishman was ultimately submitted by his rival.
However, the rapper has used his mystical ability from time-to-time to ‘help’ teams to succeed.
During game 7 in the 2019 Eastern Conference semi-finals, Drake was spotted wearing Philadelphia 76ers shorts, despite them playing against his hometown Toronto Raptors. As is the natural order of things, the Raptors won with a buzzer beater to progress to the next round of the playoffs.
If Drake is thinking of betting on this year’s FIFA World Cup, we have to pray he bets against the Socceroos!
