Rolls-Royce Are Forcing People To Take Down Leaked Images Of The Cullinan SUV
Rolls-Royce Are Forcing People To Take Down Leaked Images Of The Cullinan SUV

Well it didn’t take long for the highly anticipated Rolls-Royce Cullinan SUV to leak onto the web and now there are fingers being pointed and threats from HQ to take the images down.

According to claims made by Instagram poster eng_aalhammadi, Rolls-Royce PR had been sliding into his DMs (direct messages) ordering him to take down a leaked image of the luxury marque’s first ever SUV.

That instruction didn’t go down too well with the Instagrammer from the United Arab Emirates so he went on to post an entire gallery of the car which you can see below.

What’s happening with @rollsroycecars PR Team around the world? They start jumping in the direct messages asking the people to delete the leaked photos of their new SUV! … Guys you are not the first company to have a leaked photos or information … and what has been leaked? Nuclear weapons? A virus that will vanish us? A visitors from Planet Mars? … why all this drama about it? It’s just a car, and you are not the first one to make a car … this is a serious black point on your profile as a PR Team, i wish someone from top management to take a serious action on it … the photos has been leaked, distributed all over the world … so stop acting as a 007 agent … and you should check how the photos has been leaked instead of sending us a DM … so disappointed from RR and how their PR Team acted … #rollsroyce #rollsroyceworld #rollsroycecullinan #cullinan #bmw #bmwm #mercedesbenz #amg #audi #bugatti #porsche #ferrari #lamborghini #ford #chevy #dodge #toyota #nissan #honda #mazda #uae #uaeinstagram #abudhabi #dubai

Whilst the apparent PR bungle makes for a good little chuckle, it’s the car itself which will draw the most attention when it debuts. Rolls-Royce have been drip feeding teasers and a camouflage version for months now ahead of the car’s official launch later this week.

From the images which appear to be official renderings, the car will be rather huge as with most vehicles from their current portfolio. It will also come with a plush interior complete with luxurious lounge seats wrapped in pristine white leather.

An even cooler feature is the split tailgate boot which opens up to a luxurious mini patio. You can read about the full specs on the Rolls-Royce Cullinan here before you put your deposit on one.

Screw Pulling A Sickie, Doctors Recommend You Take A Gap-Year Once A Decade
Screw Pulling A Sickie, Doctors Recommend You Take A Gap-Year Once A Decade

It’s time to crash the trustafarians’ party: gap years are officially baby-boomer inclusive.

Whether or not your body can cope with bunk-bed sex and the incessant repetition of Wonderwall, Dr Stephen Massey, a GP at Bondi Doctors, says taking a gap year once a decade is “absolutely” a great way to look after your mental health.

“We indulge ourselves when we’re young and don’t need it, but in the middle of our career—when we most need a break—we don’t take one. Or if you do it’s called a mid-life crisis.”

He reckons the ‘travel-bug’ is a calling we would be remiss to ignore.

“Like the feeling of a new relationship most people are refreshed and excited by the new experiences travel can provide. Humans are inquisitive by nature and in my experience are at their most vibrant when discovering.”

When asked if (economical viability aside) a government stimulus for people to take a once-a-decade sabbatical would be a good idea, he said:

“Visiting other countries and cultures certainly gives a fresh perspective on life and can be a good reminder of what’s important and to be grateful for what life has given you.”

Work or this?

Although speculative, the idea is supported by research conducted by university professors such as Joseph O’Shea and Nina Hoe, who have shown gap years engender resilience, tenacity and grit.

Further: in a study measuring these very qualities, researchers Angela Duckworth at the University of Pennsylvania and Charles Yeager at the University of Texas at Austin concluded that, “there is a scientific consensus in the behavioral sciences that success in school and beyond depends critically on many attributes other than cognitive ability.”

Vanessa Stavrou, travel expert and professional good-time merchant at Contiki, told D’Marge travelling could even help you make better career decisions.

“We’ve found that travellers are 43% more likely to be satisfied with their employment opportunities so it could be just the career shifter you need!”

When asked if it’s a good idea for those who had never taken one before she stressed: it’s never too late. “You’re never too old to make a positive change through exploring and learning about the world,” she said.

“Travel offers you a refresh in all aspects of your life and a ‘mental health’ gap year once a decade is the perfect way to reinforce self-belief, confidence and sense of connectedness to the world. It’s been shown to make you happier, more open minded and even exercise more – no brainer really!”

So: if the government can afford to spend $48.7 million on a Captain Cook statue, surely they can fork out for this?

Conor McGregor Shows You How To Be The World's Best Dressed Dad
Conor McGregor Shows You How To Be The World's Best Dressed Dad

As if you didn’t need reminding that Conor McGregor already scrubs up pretty well in a three-piece suit, it’s now safe to assume that the retired MMA fighter on sabbatical has taken the title as the world’s best dressed dad too.

A post shared by Conor McGregor Official (@thenotoriousmma) on

In his latest series of Instagram posts since his court hearing for the assault of fellow UFC opponents on a bus, McGregor has seemingly taken a step back from the noise and controversy of the sport in place of family. The most recent image has McGregor showing off Conor McGregor Jr. whilst rocking a signature David August x Conor McGregor three-piece suit. It’s a bloody good colour too with turquoise check and a matching tie making for a loud yet classy pop of colour. The pocket square, timepiece and polishes shoes pretty much cements McGregor as one of today’s best dressed dads alongside guys like Jeff Goldblum.

Need more evidence?

Here’s McGregor playing the more casual look with Junior in a pared down grey suit sans tie.

Even when McGregor is out of a suit he makes easy work of dressing the dad bod. Sure, he might have millions to spend and a perennially fit physique, but that’s no excuse to drop your wardrobe game when the seasons change and all you want to do is walk around in a Snuggie. Don’t be that guy.

So if you’re trying to figure out a way to look presentable as a dedicated father, do as McGregor does:

    • Dress for your age but don’t fear colours and patterns
    • Stay away from drop crotch pants or anything too baggy – fitted is better and you won’t look like you’re trying too hard
    • Suits are your best friend whether it’s worn formally or pared down
    • Remember to always wear underwear (see below) – there are children around

Muscle Mass Begins To Deteriorate In Your 30s, But There's A Way Around It
Muscle Mass Begins To Deteriorate In Your 30s, But There's A Way Around It

There are certain things in life that men can’t escape. Taxes is the standard one. Certain death from taking a selfie with a bear is probably another. But there’s also a more serious one: Imminent muscle mass loss which begins in your thirties.

Age-Related Muscle Mass Loss Is Real

Denial is futile. Age-related muscle mass loss is a natural ageing condition in humans called sarcopenia. From the tender age of 30, men can lose anywhere between 3 percent to 5 percent of their muscle mass every decade. According to a Harvard Medical School report, men will lose about 30% of their muscle mass during their entire lifetime. So why does this cruel twist of fate happen to our money makers? The natural decline of testosterone is one of the biggest culprits. Testosterone is the hormone which stimulates protein synthesis and muscle growth in our bodies. It’s essentially the fuel for muscle building.“Naturally we start losing white celled muscle fibres – quick release muscle fibres,” explains Jordan Ponder, personal trainer and founder of Sydney dietetics firm, Transform Health.“Humans have a certain amount of fast twitch muscle fibres and we start losing this as we get older.”You’ll be damned if you just blame it on age alone though. Most men tend to get more inactive as they pass the age of development (30 years) and it is from here that their muscle loss compounds with the combination of sarcopenia and a sloppy lifestyle.Thankfully there’s a solution to this.

How To Preserve Muscle Mass As You Age

Both the Havard Medical School findings and Ponder agree that there is a common solution to deteriorating muscle mass: progressive resistance training or plyometrics which are exercises that focus on speed and power.“Think box jumps, explosive push ups, sprint training, all that kind of stuff is hugely beneficial,” says Ponder.“Not just for our fast twitch fibres but for testosterone and growth hormone; things that help us maintain muscle.”When it comes to progressive resistance training, it’s also recommended that you gradually increase your workout volume over time irrespective of your age. This applies to weights, reps and sets as a means of improving strength and endurance as we age. Whilst muscle mass loss can’t be stopped entirely, this type of exercise can definitely slow it down.

What To Eat To Preserve Muscle Mass

There’s a solution to preserving muscle mass and that involves careful food intake. Just as body builders work with regular servings of protein to build muscle, an ageing body also needs it to maintain muscle mass.Protein from food is turned into amino acids which is then used to build muscles. As men age, they encounter anabolic resistance which decreases the body’s ability to synthesise protein. The solution? Eat more high-protein foods.“Go for good quality proteins, high Omega-3 fat contents,” says Jordan. The Harvard study additionally states that men should aim for a daily intake of 1 to 1.3 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight for older adults who do resistance training.Extra protein foods can include:

  • meat (avoid red and processed meat)
  • eggs
  • milk

Supplemental protein in the form of powders, human growth hormone (HGH) supplementation can also be added to your standard meals if you struggle to get enough calories and protein through your regular diet.

How Often You Should Be Exercising

Consistency is the biggest thing in your thirties.“All it takes is an hour a day of exercising whether it’s walking, cycling or swimming. That’s the first thing,” says Jordan. The second part of your exercising should involve “2 or 3 hours of good quality training a week”.That includes lifting weights, sprinting and progressive resistance training.

Habits To Avoid If You Want Muscle Longevity

It might not be so obvious at first, but bad habits also play a small part in muscle deterioration as we age.“There’s a delayed effect. Especially of those who like alcohol,” explains Jordan.“People are less likely to go to the gym when they’ve been drinking Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. By the end of the week your proactivity decreases and you’re less likely to show up on Thursday, Friday or Saturday.”The answer is to set up your lifestyle in your thirties. Being knee deep in work will often expose how you react in that decade and that in turn determines what happens in your forties and fifties.“If you set up the right habits when you’re young and busy, you’re more likely to maintain a physical lifestyle through to your senior years, which is obviously when it’s more important because it’s harder to start then.”So when it comes to reducing muscle mass loss, the most important thing is putting in place the habits and the training before pairing it with a balanced lifestyle and diet.RELATED: Lacking Muscles? Justin Hemmes' Latest Creation Opens North Of Sydney This Month
Justin Hemmes' Latest Creation Opens North Of Sydney This Month

Merivale will launch its new Northern Beaches pub this month, when local favourite, The Collaroy, reopens its doors under new management.

With panoramic views of the ocean and sand literally at its doorstep, The Collaroy will be the place to watch winter-swells wrap around Long Reef headland, coming to a halt (hopefully) before reaching Collaroy beach.

According to their media release;

“The Collaroy celebrates everything the area is renowned for – sun-loving days, laid-back living and close-knit community spirit. Relaxed and fuss-free, it is offers a variety of casual dining experiences for locals to meet, eat and grab a drink at the ocean’s edge, a place where they can pop in after a swim and stay the whole day.”

The Chef, Jordan Toft, has taken inspiration from the venue’s picturesque location, describing the food as “simple, yet elegant… for a community that loves the sun, surf and sand”. The end result is a “diverse beachside menu, with options suited to any occasion.”

Downstairs features an evolving menu. For breakfast, the kiosk will serve coffee, juice and home-made pastries, alongside pizza bases with fresh breakfast toppings. Health-driven bowls and plates with rustic combinations – like muesli with dried fruit, nuts, oats, coconut yoghurt and cold milk and toasted faro with avocado, boiled egg, rocket, grilled haloumi, olive oil and lemon – are served for lunch.

Then, the press release describes;

“As day turns into evening, the ground floor will offer snacks to accompany a glass of wine in hand, like freshly sliced prosciutto and grissini, ham croquettes with spicy aioli and anchovy toasts with pickled shallot. At night, it is time for generous home-style dinners that will change daily. Think lamb and eggplant moussaka on Monday, pork and fennel sausages with roasted pumpkin and green garlic on Tuesday, or a coastal take on the Sunday roast.”

Upstairs, guests will find an “open kitchen and two bars to choose from”. Here, they can taste freshly shucked oysters, local seafood, meats from the charcoal grill and vibrant salads in the restaurant, or chill with a burger from the bar menu and enjoy it with the spectacular view of Collaroy Beach.

The authentic wood-fired creations by pizza maestro Vincenzo Biondini can also be enjoyed both day and night.

The wine list focusses on fresh, crisp whites and rosés, while the drinks menu has been created by the best and brightest bartenders from The Newport, Papi Chulo and Coogee Pavilion (other bars and restaurants under the Merivale banner).

The new and improved venue is the brainchild of Merivale CEO, Justin Hemmes, and brought to life by a design team including Kelvin Ho of Akin Creative, Amanda Talbot, Justin and Bettina Hemmes.

The exact open date will be announced soon, and restaurant reservations will be taken from the 19th May via their website.

Gather round generous spenders, it’s time to take a look at the toys making the rounds this week which were made to send you broke and happy. This is Shut up & Take My Money.

Suntory Roku Gin

The Japanese have conquered whisky and now they’re taking on the world of gin with Suntory’s latest premium gin offering named Roku. The name means ‘six’ in English and refers to the six distinctly Japanese botanicals which make up the spirit alongside eight traditional gin botanicals. True to the Japanese way of doing things, the process of making Roku is equally meticulous. The spirit is made in Osaka using sakura flower, sakura leaf, yuzu peel, sencha tea, gyokuro tea and sansho pepper to produce a spicy note. These botanicals are harvested only during their peak flavour season. The drink is finished off beautifully in a hexagonal bottle and label made of traditional Japanese washi paper. Roku isn’t available in Australia yet but you can find it online.

NASA X Plane

Supersonic air travel could be making a return to commercial flight in the near future with NASA commencing production of their once defunct X-Plane. The aircraft’s capabilities will enable flight faster than the speed of sound whilst being almost inaudible from the ground. The motivation behind the project stems from the fact that the space agency wants to bring back high speed travel to the commercial space without the dangers of the Concorde. The first stage in measuring success is eradicating the sonic boom that was notorious with the Concorde. NASA has already solved this problem and if progress continues the human-piloted aircraft will arrive at NASA’s Armstrong Flight Research Centre by the end of 2021 with commercial use slated for 2025.

How To Adapt Your Tinder-Game For Facebook's New Dating Feature
How To Adapt Your Tinder-Game For Facebook's New Dating Feature

Facebook recently announced a dating feature for meeting ‘non-friends’. If that ain’t Zuckerburg for friends with benefits, nothing is.

This invasion of Tinder’s personal space will enable you to curate a ‘secret’ dating profile, visible only to non-friends who are also using the feature. Facebook will then use its pool of questionably legal data to find you a soul-mate that likes (or hates) vapid celebrity TV as much as you do.

“Potential matches will be recommended based on dating preferences, things in common, and mutual friends. (You’ll) have the option to discover others with similar interests through their Groups or Events,” Facebook said in a statement.

You’ll then be able to browse through people’s profiles that show off a few photos, plus their basic info. If you’re both interested after this point you’ll be able to start a conversation in an inbox separate from Messenger and WhatsApp.

This is where Chris Manak, Melbourne’s leading dating coach for men (and owner of Manic Workshops), comes in. First we asked him—will Facebook really become a useful tool for dating? He began by pointing out—it already is.

“Facebook is best for situations where asking for a phone number is not optimal, like her being at work. I’ve dated many women from local bars doing this, and I have clients who have done the same from cafes and clothing stores.”

And he reckons its new dating feature will make these kinds of moments even easier to follow up on. As for advice, he says that when starting a conversation, if you’re stuck for witty one-liners, the best thing to do is:

“Find something about her profile that caught your attention.”

And once you’ve started chatting, how long should you wait until suggesting a meet up? Coach Chris says the best way to take things to the next level is simpler than you think.

“I had a phone consultation with a woman on the weekend who was two weeks into a fun, flirty chat with a guy, but he still hadn’t asked her out. Although he was probably just trying to play it right, she had interpreted it as him not being interested. So if you’re having a good chat, just ask. Don’t be weird about it.”

And as for the date: keep it simple.

“Personally I recommend a coffee or drinks for the immediate catch up. You don’t know each other in real life, so why set up some elaborate date (which for one looks try-hard) when you might not even like each other in the first five minutes?”

However when it comes to Facebook’s ability to match you with someone similar, Chris had some reservations; saying that although similar values are important, so are different interests.

“You need to see and approach life similarly—that’s how you move ahead together—but you need to inspire each other to try different things in order to keep things interesting.”

Gad Krebs, a relationship expert agreed, saying:

“Finding love necessitates a healthy flexibility towards options rather than stubborn rigidity towards specifications.”

In a climate of foam-padded newsfeeds—where you only subscribe to publications you agree with and talk to people you like—will Facebook’s dating app add to the noise of the ‘echo chamber’ as people increasingly find partners with similar world-views?

Only time will tell.
