Stepping out of your parent’s shadow is something that most people strive for but imagine if the shadow being cast is 113kg and stands at 6’1″. How do you step out from that? Well if you’re Patrick Schwarzenegger you give them something else to look at.
And give us something else to look at he did indeed, Patrick walked the red carpet at the 2019 Beyond Fest opening night premiere of his new film Daniel Isn’t Real at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood in a smart casual outfit that got everyone talking. To step out of the not insignificant shadow cast by his father, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Patrick has chosen to become known for his outfits rather than for any overbearing muscles. Arnold, of course, needs no introduction, the former strong-man turned actor turned Governor is known around the world for his large muscular presence and Patrick has smartly chosen to become known for his style choices.
Not just a model, Patrick is also an actor having appeared on TVs Scream Queens among other projects and at his latest premiere, the actor wore a baby blue Saint Laurent Teddy Jacket made from full-grain leather and wool. The varsity style bomber was paired with a simple white v-neck shirt, slim fit black trousers and white sneakers.
The look is effective on the star and is a far cry from his more outlandish, yet still alluring pink outfit that he was seen wearing earlier this month. Patrick attended the Savage x Fenty show at New York Fashion Week at Barclays Center at the beginning of the month in a Siesmarjin shirt and pants. The Sander Fluid Cord Shirt and Alex Pant in Fuchsia made out of corduroy and is the Creative Directo Sander Lak’s namesake shirt. It is a bold choice for anyone to wear but luckily Patrick has the charisma to pull it off.
Patrick wore the shirt mostly open to show off a bit of chest, something the star is prone to do according to his Instagram. It is also clear from the gram that Patrick has a sense of style, and none of his wardrobe is thrown together at the last minute and fortunately there are no cringy bodybuilding poses either.

There are vintage fairs that sell you knickknacks that just take up space and then there is the Southern Hemisphere’s largest vintage car fair. These aren’t your beat-up 50s wagons on display, this is the best of the best.
The ultimate revhead experience is returning to Melbourne for a three day celebration of the prestigious motoring lifestyle. Motorclassica is Australasia’s largest Concours d’Elegance and is recognised around the world as a unique competition of beauty, design and provenance.
Now in its 10th year, Motoclassica, hosted in the Royal Exhibition Building in Melbourne, will play host to over 500 vehicles and over 100 vendors across three days from the 11th to 13th of October. Not just about cars, the event will also host fine food and wine outside as part of the Club Sandwich display, a host of special guests on stage and educational displays, including the Restoration Theatre.
Significant automotive milestones to be celebrated at Motorclassica 2019 with extensive displays will include 100 years of the famous Bentley marque and less well known Alvis, and contrasting with those British brands, a century of the innovative French maker Citroen. Arguably the most recognisable car in the world, the Mini, will be honoured for its 60 years while, Abarth, an Italian tuner known for its performance modifications to Fiat and Lancia models will celebrate 70 years.
Increasingly collectible, Japan’s often unheralded role in the global development of the modern sports car will also be recognised at Motorclassica with a specially curated tribute.
The event kicks off with Tour Classica, a convoy of over 70 unique cars and motorcycles that travel through Melbourne’s city and surrounding area. The tour starts at the Alexandra Gardens before finishing at the Royal Exhibition building and forms an important part in the Concours judging.
The event begins on the 11th of October with tickets from $39.00 for General Admission. VIP passes are available from $120.00 and there is even a special ‘After Five’ ticket available for visitors who come after 5pm.
Motorclassica Dates: 11 – 13 October 2019
Tour Classica: Thursday 10 October from 9:30am
D’Marge readers can purchase adult general admission tickets at a discounted price by using the promo code ‘DMARGE’ at checkout – visit Motorclassica now to lock in your discounted tickets.

Move aside dating apps; the new way to meet people is to slide into their DMs. Maybe it’s on Instagram and you’ve liked their pics for a while, maybe its a friend on Facebook or maybe its even just someone you follow on Twitter, but sliding into DMs is the new way of matching. However, there are rules for this. After all, you don’t just immediately send your dick pics on dating apps. And – if you do – you need to stop that, like, immediately. There is an etiquette to messaging a potential date and it’s an area that etiquette expert Katherine Lewis knows all too well.
“DMs are a great way to make the chat more personal, however I would always suggest you wait for an invitation or make a request before assuming the other person would be happy for you to do so.”
But what is an invitation? Is liking and commenting on each other’s photos enough to warrant an invitation? Or is it doing the less personal quick react to their Instagram story? Do I have to change my entire DM approach now because I have been doing it wrong according to Katherine. She is an expert from Debretts which for over 250 years has been coaching society on how to behave but we have moved on from the letter sending days of Pride & Prejudice. Comedian Ash Williams was similarily stumped by what an invitation is and suggested instead that men use their judgment.
“Nothing wrong with saying hello, testing the waters & if you don’t get a response then that’s your answer.”
Research from Messenger from Facebook suggests that Australians, in general, think we lack good messaging etiquette with three in four Australians feeling the need for better manners when messaging people. So we know we need it but what are some of the ways to do it, Katherine suggests just use some common courtesy.
“If a man is trying to come across as a gentleman, leaving someone hanging or long replies sent at inconvenient hours will not carry favour.”
That seems basic enough, reply on time and during the waking hours. So I guess booty calls are inappropriate when sliding into DMs which Ash completely agrees with.
“You should absolutely not be doing it at midnight and if you do you should get a ban from Instagram for six months.”
There are even polite ways of shutting people down if you don’t appreciate their advances. And no we’re not talking about ghosting or subwaying or any other non-communicative way says Katherine. She suggests that you take the time to provide a gentle and polite acknowledgement that you are going to cease communication, which sounds very confrontational.Ghosting is certainly easier but not necessarily the nicest way to let someone down. Katherine says that close to half of Australians have been hurt by a digital message, but similarly over half have been uplifted by one and the real trick is to think of digital messaging as an extension of a face-to-face conversation.
“Always show the time, respect and consideration you would if you were speaking to the other person face-to-face, and you suddenly have a wonderful way to communicate your intentions and connect with someone.”
If all else fails you can take some advice from the thirstiest men on the web.

Everyone wants to get jacked – but considering the misinformation out there, getting the right nutrition to actually achieve it can be harder than completing the last rep of an overload set. This in mind, there are a bunch of supplement companies out there looking to prey on your insecurities, promising a ‘one-stop’ powder that will give your muscles all the fuel they could need to perform, recover and – crucially – grow. The problem is, despite how tempting it is to rely on a protein shake and a takeaway Big Mac, as prominent fitness scientist Brad Schoenfeld recently pointed out on Instagram, learning the correct nutrition science is an essential part of muscle building.RELATED: Danger Signs You’re Eating Too Much Protein & How To Fix ItThat said, he also revealed that there is one supplement that is a much safer bet than the rest, which anyone – lazy or not – should consider before turning to the dark web for peptides.
View this post on Instagram
“Creatine is the only supplement that has well-established benefits for directly building muscle,” Brad wrote. “There are over 1,000 published studies supporting its effectiveness.”He then went on to say, “There are [also] a number of supplements that can indirectly help to increase muscle mass,” citing “caffeine and beta alanine” as examples. Not to mention “protein supplements are highly beneficial if you aren’t consuming adequate (~1.6+ g/kg/d) protein in your diet.”However, in terms of tried and tested research, according to Schoenfeld, nothing beats creatine.

Finally, he added that supplementation is basically the “cherry on the sundae” when it comes to building muscle, emphasising the importance of “proper training, nutrition and recovery” in the process and reminding us that no matter what it says on the label; “Supplements account for only a small percentage of your gains.”In other words, don’t get buying; get lifting.

Forget what you thought you knew about men’s slippers, they’re not just for your grandad but they are, in fact, a genuinely useful shoe for guys everywhere. Whether they’re keeping your feet warm during winter, protecting your floorboards from damage (and caressing your feet in comfort at the same time), or being something quick and easy to slip on before heading outdoors in winter, slippers are a versatile shoe.
Not all slippers for men are created equal, however. Not only do you have traditional slippers you’d associate with wearing in the home, but you also have moccasins and house shoes to contend with.
Different types of men’s slippers
Slippers
Slippers are a lightweight shoe that’s easy to put on and off and are intended to be worn indoors only. Usually crafted with suede or cotton, most slippers feature extremely soft and plushy insoles and can come in different styles such as booties, scuff, clog, sock, etc.
You will also find some slippers with extra tough rubber soles that make them perfect for wearing outside when you just need a quick pair of shoes to take out the trash or grab something from the car. People living in areas that receive heavy snowfall will benefit most from these.
Moccasins
You may find retailers advertising their slippers as moccasins when in actual fact they’re not. Moccasins can be defined as being a heelless shoe made of soft leather which sees the sole being wrapped upwards and being attached to a U-shaped piece of leather that sits on top of the foot. Some slippers may adopt a similar look, but if they’re not made of leather, they can’t be called moccasins.
House Shoes
House shoes are shoes designed to be worn indoors only, as they keep your floors clean and your feet warm. House shoes differ from slippers though because they can come in proper footwear styles; think sneakers and boots, and provide more support to your feet than traditional slippers do.

Just over a fortnight ago, we at D’Marge were raving about a Dior suit being worn by David Beckham saying he was a year ahead of his time. Well, clearly we have a famous reader who saw the article and decided to try out the suit for himself but put a fresh new take on it. And honestly, we are here for it.
Charlie Heaton, one of the stars of TV’s Stranger Things, wore the blue Dior at Paris’ Fashion Week – Womenswear Spring Summer 2020 but put his own Gen Y take on it that separates the look from his fellow Brit. The actor was at Fashion Week with girlfriend Natalia Dyer who is also his co-star and on-screen girlfriend in the Netflix series.
Heaton wore the soft baby blue, double-breasted Dior suit with a Dior and Raymond Pettibon print shirt made out of 100% silk complete with kimono sleeves and mother-of-pearl buttons. To round out the outfit Heaton wore matching trousers with the wide-pant leg, derby black leather shoes, and Dior sunglasses.
His fellow Brit, David Beckham, wore the Dior suit to his wife’s celebratory cocktail party and kept the look simple. He paired the suit with a plain white t-shirt and white canvas high-tops for a simple yet effective look. It’s a relaxed fit on the ex-footballer making it perfect for both day and night.
https://www.instagram.com/p/B2tSz31l6HU/
Both of the celebrities seem comfortable with the wide-legged trouser that seems to be making a comeback in the fashion world. Beckham wore the suit with the buttons closed while Heaton seemed keen to let the world see his shirt, which we can’t fault given how great the shirt looks. Where Heaton is let down is in the size of the suit, which is slightly too big for the young celebrity.
Heaton is still relatively new to the celebrity game but already is proving himself to be one to watch in the fashion sweepstakes. Who knows, maybe next time he’ll be premiering the suit to watch out for.

How do you order wine at a restaurant? Do you pick blindly, swirl the glass, sniff it and then declare it good? Do you go straight for the by the glass options so you don’t have to commit to one? Or do you go straight to the dollar symbols and pick the second cheapest? If you fall into the last category then guess what? You and every other guy ordering at the bar does the same thing. The second cheapest bottle theory is actually a well-explored phenomenon and restaurants know it and sometimes even choose cheaper wines for the ‘second cheapest’ spot. Sommelier Kirsten Vicenza told Atlas Obscura that restaurants would often even place a bottle they are looking to get rid of into that slot knowing it would sell. You could actually be better off buying the cheapest bottle sometimes but you don’t want to take that risk. So how do you choose? Sommelier Sean McManus told D’Marge that most wine lists are actually designed to help you choose that perfect drop.
“A good wine list will be broken down from lightest juice to heaviest at the back.”
Basically, if you want a red that’s easy to drink look at the front of the red section if you want something more bold head to the back. https://www.instagram.com/p/B2D-dhXgYQU/Leaving food pairing aside, you need to know how to order a wine that both of you will enjoy and McManus suggests that when looking for a starting tipple you learn towards white wine. Specifically a Riesling due to its fresh taste that leaves the mouth craving for more while also satisfying it. If the list is still daunting then McManus says you can always lean back on some sparkling wine. McManus suggests a sparkling Vouvray from the Loire Valley in France for its elegant and refreshing taste. Go figure sparkling was made in regions other than Champagne-Ardenne in France. https://www.instagram.com/p/Bufi-6yASdo/If you want to support your local wine growers though go no further than something local from Tasmania which has become world-renowned for its Chardonnay and Pinot Noir bubbles according to McManus. Depending on your venue you may or may not be fortunate enough to have a sommelier on hand. If you do, use them, they are discreet and there to help you find the perfect wine, for whatever the occasion.
“When all else fails lean on the sommelier. Just say what dishes you’re thinking about, what colour wine you want and point discreetly to a numerical value on the list you want to work with”

Forget dollars or euros; Instagram followers are the new currency of the 21st century. And as everyone from Italian playboy Gianluca Vacchi to Vanity Fair’s favourite Byron Bay influencer knows, if you want to build your profile (or make your friends as jealous as possible) while gallivanting around Europe, your social media game better be on point. The problem is, this attitude has led to an onslaught of selfie-stick wielding tourists to areas of the globe that were already unimpressed by foreign attempts to DSLR their locales.Case in point: Venice, which has passed (civil) law after law in recent years (see: “Morning Coffee Mistake Costs Tourists $1,500”) and started charging tourists entry to the city in order to cope with the influx.RELATED: ‘We Don’t Want Tourists’: Meet The Ancient Town Italians Don’t Want You To VisitHowever, despite these respect-encouraging regulations, incidents like this week’s gondola mishap suggest they are not working. How? Well, as Nine.com.au recently reported, “the city’s iconic boatmen are being set upon by selfie-taking, headbutt-happy visitors.”Or at least one Venetian gondolier is, in an incident that was caught on film and has now, as the cool kids say, ‘blown up.’As Nine.com.au reported, “The video, posted to Facebook by bystander Dixe el Duse, made news in local rag La Nuova Venezia, who reported that a group of four South American tourists climbed aboard the man’s gondola to take a selfie without his knowledge or permission.”So far so rude.“When the boatman asked the two adults and two children to disembark, a row ensued that saw the male trespasser push and headbutt the gondolier multiple times, before knocking off his traditional hat and punching him in the jaw.”
