Anyone who’s tried to buy a car this year Down Under has probably discovered how there’s a shortage of new car stock across the country… As well as silly prices have become for used or second-hand cars. We’ve told this story dozens of times.Basically, cars are expensive right now. Especially cool ones. Australia also draws the short stick when it comes to exotic or vintage cars, too – the tyranny of distance, our small population as well as our minority status as a right-hand drive country mean we’ve often missed out on some of the world’s best releases. No wonder, then, that many Aussies have decided to build their own versions of rare cars rather than spend big dollars on the real McCoy.Spend enough time digging around online classifieds and you’ll find many replica cars for sale, from the very poorly done backyard job to highly elaborate fabrications that rival (or are even better than) the real thing. Unsurprisingly, many of these are Ferrari replicas. The world’s most famous sports car brand has never been particularly accessible, so you’ll see plenty of Toyota MR2s, Nissan 300ZX Z32s (like this bad boy we unearthed last year) and even Volkswagen Beetles turned into Prancing Horses. What’s interesting, though, is that in 2021 we’re seeing more and more of these kinds of cars for sale, and at increasingly high levels of fit and finish… As well as increasingly high prices. But is buying a replica – even a very, very good one – a worthy investment?
“Other than that, I’m not a huge fan, and most would be a waste of money.”
“I wouldn’t dare turn up to a Cars and Coffee in a fake Cobra or poorly executed GT40. A Pur Sang Alfa recreation on the other hand…”
“Replicas – the word says it all! Why would you, what’s the benefit, it’s a fake, it’s a wannabe, not the real deal… Stay away is the short answer in my opinion!”
RELATED: Australian Motoring Experts Reveal Best ‘Budget’ Alternatives To The Porsche 911That’s really the crux of the issue. No matter how good a replica might be, at the end of the day, it’s still a replica. You can have a lot of fun driving one (especially one that’s more than just a tacky bodykit), but don’t bet on them being a reliable investment… Or, at least, a less reliable investment than a ‘real’ car.The other option is just to find a different car rather than potentially embarrass yourself driving around in a fake. Putting a Ferrari badge on your car doesn’t add any horsepower…

Mark Wahlberg’s a big man with an even bigger watch collection. The 50-year-old actor, producer, former rapper and fitness fanatic has a well-established love for expensive timepieces, with the Bostonian having a real penchant for two brands in particular: Rolex and Patek Philippe. Especially Patek Philippe.Wahlberg owns literally dozens of pieces from what’s widely considered the most presitigous watchmaker on the planet, from iced-out Nautiluses to Grand Complications chronographs. Needless to say, he’s probably got a very good relationship with his AD – which is probably how he was able to get his hands on the Swiss brand’s most talked-about new release. In a video shared to his Instagram yesterday, Marky Mark can be seen wearing the new ref. 5905/1A-001: a landmark timepiece for Patek that is easily a future classic. At first glance, it seems like classic Patek fair – a complicated yet relatively sober chronograph that also features an annual calendar. But there’s more to the ref. 5905/1A-001 than meets the eye.

In a city of yoga studios, Crossfit cults and UFC gyms, when you think of Sydney, running may not be the first activity that comes to mind. However, whether it’s a supplement to your luxury gym membership or your number one hobby, Sydney has a lot to offer runners. Not only does it have a shedload of coastline just asking to be run along, but Sydney also has large areas of bushland and grassland that offer a whole host of pathways and tracks for you to explore.
With running wear becoming increasingly technologically advanced – such as running jackets for beating the wind and rain – you don’t even have to wait for a sunny day to get outside. Admittedly, we wouldn’t go running in a heavy downpour, but if there’s a light drizzle, then there’s no reason why you can’t lace up your running shoes and log some kms.
So, where exactly should you run? We’ve put together this list of some of our most favourite running routes – a few are very similar to the best walking routes – that provide a range of terrain, elevation and length, all of which will boost your cardio fitness, so you can go further with each run. And for more inspiration, check out the Map My Run website which has a number of runs not just in Sydney, but across Australia, logged by other runners for you to replicate.
In this story…
Spit To Manly

High on the list of best walks, this route is also a favourite of running aficionados. Not only does it offer some spectacular views across the harbour, but at around 18km return (depending who you believe, as some say it’s around 10km one-way), it’s a running route that will really test your stamina. With inclines and declines through forested areas, you’ll want to make sure you keep your eyes focused – as well as wanting to savour the flat sections – and with a mixture of purpose-built tracks, sand and concrete, it’ll do wonders for your balance and strength.
Of course, you don’t have to complete the return one if you don’t want to, as you can catch a bus or ferry from Manly back to the City or beyond. However, we’d recommend taking a decent pit stop in Manly itself, where you can visit one of its breweries or simply take a break on the beach to watch the surfers.
Length: 18km (return)
Elevation: 209m
Palm Beach Lighthouse

Not only is the trail leading up to Barrenjoey Lighthouse at Palm Beach one of the absolute must-do activities in Sydney, it also makes for a testing run. You’ll need to go early, however, because as soon as the sun is really shining in the sky, expect to be held up by huge crowds of tourists. Miss them, and you’ll be presented with a delightful run or jog across the sand, before tackling the steep ascents up to the Lighthouse.
Once there, you can continue to run through the narrow sections of path, and of course, you’ll want to take a break to marvel at the spectacular views back over Palm Beach. Run back down and stop at The Boathouse for a coffee or juice and some delicious breakfast and you’ll be set for the day.
Length: 2.2km
Elevation: 113m
Iron Cove Bay Run

Iron Cove is the favoured early morning running of Sydney’s Inner West residents. There are no steep inclines or declines on this route, but rather a lovely flat loop that serves waterside views the entire way. You’ll eventually cross the Victoria Road Bridge over the Parramatta River and gaze over towards the CBD skyline. At 7km, it’s a good length for both beginner runners to start pushing themselves, and for seasoned veterans, it offers a simple route to smash out a few laps if training for a marathon.
Parking is available at King George’s Park for those coming from further afield.
Length: 7km
Elevation: 82m
Harbour Bridge To Opera House

You should, of course, visit the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House if you’re a tourist, but once you’ve taken your photos, you should head back to the area to run it. This run is exceptionally versatile, as you can adjust the length of it to suit your running style and ability. The best and easiest way to complete this run is to start at Milson’s Point, near the Kirribilli Markets, make your way across the Harbour Bridge and down through The Rocks and Circular Quay before finishing at the Opera House and/or Royal Botanical Gardens. If you want to go that little bit further, you can continue to Mrs Maqaurie’s Chair. You’re then left with the option of finishing here or using it as a turning point to head back to where you started on the north side of the Bridge.
If you can make it for sunrise you’ll be rewarded with jaw-dropping views across to the CBD as you head over the Harbour Bridge, plus, it should be pretty empty, leaving you to run in total peace.
Length: Approximately 9km return
Elevation: 50m
Bondi To Coogee

The quintessential Sydney walk, the Bondi to Coogee route can also be run. It may be quite hilly in some areas, but they will only serve to strengthen your quads and hamstrings. Since this walk and running route is so popular with locals and tourists, you’ll want to time it right to avoid serious crowds.
Do, and you’ll be basking in coastal views the entire 6km route (12km return) and empty beaches along the way if you choose to stop off in Bronte, Tamarama or Clovelly. And, with a finish at either Bondi Beach or Coogee Beach (and the Pavilion) waiting for you, you’ll have the perfect location for a post-run feed.
Length: 12km (return)
Elevation: 33m
Lane Cove National Park

The running route at Lane Cove National Park could be considered a well-kept secret of Sydney’s running community, but we’re here to reveal it to you. The running track is an 11km loop that follows the shores of the Lane Cove River. You can park within the National Park itself, with access from Riverside Drive, from here you can run along the Riverside Walk all the way until you reach Lane Cove Road.
A short trip over De Burghs Bridge will bring you to Lane Cove Valley Walk on your right, which you follow all the way back to your car. It’s an incredibly scenic route with forests of red gum trees, and one that shouldn’t be too busy. Keen ornithologists will be able to spot a fair few species of bird along the way, too.
Length: 11km loop
Elevation: 148m
Cremorne Point

A reasonably short North Shore classic, the Cremorne Point route enables you to enjoy picturesque views as you run over gently rolling hills, which provide good shade for most of the way. A lookout point at Roberts Point is well worth a stop at, not only to catch your breath but to take in the views across the Harbour.
In the summer months, you’ll do well to either pack a separate pair of swimmers or be prepared to give your running shorts a dunk, as you’ll want to take a dip in Maccallum Pool.
Park your car anywhere around Hodgson Ave and head down to the footpath to reach the start point.
Length: 3km loop
Elevation: 115m
Queenscliff To Shelly

This is one of the shorter runs on the list, but definitely one of the most enjoyable. Start at the Queenscliff Surf Club (the northernmost corner of the beach) and run along the beachfront until you get to Manly Surf Club.
On your way, there are a number of poles which are great markers for interval training – sprint, then jog (or walk), and repeat – and also a fair few bubblers, so no need to lug a water bottle around with you. Once you get to the Manly Surf Club turn left and follow the path round to Shelly beach, passing a number of cafes (and a sea pool) on your way.
Once there you can either enjoy the marine reserve or head back to Queenscliff and sprint up the stairs to get that heart rate up one more time.
Length: 5km
Elevation: 10m (24m if you include the stairs)
Centennial Park

The default Grand Drive loop at Centennial Park is a great introductory run for beginners as it offers varied terrain such as asphalt and grass, or a walk (or rather run) in the park for those more experienced who either want to complete a few laps or just give their bodies a quick warm up in the morning.
Once you’ve got the 3.7km loop nailed down, you can begin to experiment with adding in other loops and tracks to extend it – adding in a loop around Busby’s Pond takes it to 5km – but until such a time, don’t stray from the white fence. If you feel comfortable enough, you can even compete in a free weekly timed 5km run in Centennial Park, giving you PB times that you can aim to beat.
Length: 3.7km
Elevation: 23m
Sydney Running Routes FAQ
Where can I run in Sydney CBD?
You can technically run wherever you want, but traffic, both human and vehicular, provide obstacles. Great areas to run in the CBD include Centennial Park and around Pyrmont and Darling Harbour.
Can you run over the Sydney Harbour Bridge?
Yes, absolutely. The run across the Sydney Harbour Bridge is approximately 2km and is free to pedestrian traffic. If you're running from North Sydney, you should continue your run through The Rocks and head toward the Botanical Gardens.
How do I get to the Spit to Manly walk or run?
If you're starting from the Spit end, the starting point is at the north end of the bridge. You can catch a bus from Wynard station, which will drop you off at the south end. Alternatively, there is some parking at the south end of the bridge, but remember, you'll need to walk back to get your car!

Melbourne is the Australian city lauded for its nightlife, but rather than mingle with hoards of vodka guzzlers at ground level, set your sights a little higher and look to some of the city’s finest rooftop bars.
Here are the best rooftop bars Melbourne has to offer, so you can enjoy a cocktail, beer or vodka lime and soda all at high altitude.
In this Melbourne rooftop bars story…
Easey’s
3/48 Easey Street, Collingwood 3066

Easey’s had a grand idea one day to get an old train and put it on top of an office block in the middle of Collingwood, which seems anything but Easey in our humble opinion. However, despite this initial experimental concept, Easey’s has become one of Melbourne’s best rooftop bars. With a comprehensive list of cocktails, beers, wines and all the basic spirits covered, Easey’s is the place to go if you’re looking for casual drinks with mates.
Good Heavens
Level 2/79 Bourke Street, Melbourne 3000

A creation from the folks behind North Melbourne staple Fancy Frank’s, Good Heavens brings a classic combination of cocktails and good old-fashioned southern American cuisine to an upstairs setting more geared towards the classic Melbourne city-slicker.
It’s not exactly ground-breaking with its take on inner-city tropical décor, but the food is good and the cocktails are boozy enough for you to lose yourself in the heavens pretty easily.
Marquis Of Lorne
411 George Street, Fitzroy 3065

Less of a rooftop bar than it is simply a really good pub that happens to have an open-air rooftop, the Marquis has a more seasoned history than most Melbourne drinking establishments and has been a Fitzroy favourite for years, both before and after it closed and subsequently re-opened.
The rooftop has everything you could ever want on a summer’s day boozing with the lads: a bathtub famously full of international tinnies and century-old architecture fitted out with breezy 70s décor.
Loop Roof
3/23 Meyers Place, Melbourne 3000

The idea of “Project Spaces” combining with bars is a New York staple that’s slowly working its way into Australia’s bigger cities, but Loop Roof’s rooftop bar adds a little more extravagance to the idea.
Loop Roof combines dense foliage, botanical-inspired cocktails, and garden furniture with the modern fit-out of Loop Project below, making for a surprisingly relaxing space in the middle of the city to smash back a few bevvies on a sunny day.
Fonda Mexican
31 Flinders Lane, Melbourne 3000

A classic example of capitalising on an already fantastic idea, the folks at Fonda Mexican decided to take the success of their Richmond eatery and further it with a brand-new rooftop location in Windsor.
Its menu features all the things that made Fonda so successful, with fusion burritos, iced Horchata and $10 Paloma cocktails, only this time you can enjoy it all as they would in Mexico. Just make sure you arm yourself with a sombrero to escape the merciless summer sun.
Johnny’s Green Room
Level 2/293-297 Lygon Street, Carlton 3053

Johnny’s Green Room is on the site of the old Johnny’s, a bar which locals will know as being one of the best spots in Carlton. This reincarnation of Johnny’s now offers guests a rooftop bar that serves up 360-degree views of Carlton and out to the CBD. If it’s Italian-style charm you love and you want to feel like you’re in Rome, while sipping on a negroni, this is the best place to be.
Nineteenforty
200 Camberwell Road, Hawthorn East 3123

Set on the roof of the heritage-listed The Rivoli cinema building, Nineteenforty (named after the year Rivoli Cinemas opened) is a celebration of everything old-world, art-deco and timeless.
They’ve decided to go for a garden-inspired fit-out for their rooftop bar, which plays host to a menu of old-world cocktails and bar snacks.
Nineteenforty also makes for the perfect setting for either a few pre-dinner drinks or even somewhere to continue the evening once you’ve finished up watching a movie in the cinema downstairs.
Rooftop Bar
Level 7, Curtin House, 252 Swanston Street, Melbourne 3000
We’re not sure how much was paid to secure the naming rights to this venue, but there couldn’t be a more appropriate title for a bar anywhere else in the world. Situated on top of Curtin House (don’t worry, there is an elevator), which also houses the Toff in Town, one of Melbourne’s best live music venues, Rooftop Bar does – and is – just what its name suggests.
This innercity drinking hole offers sublime views over the CBD and a well-stocked bar serving cocktail classics such as margaritas, mojitos and espresso martinis. Food is supplied by Burger Shack and in the summer, it turns into a rooftop cinema. All in all, Rooftop Bar is the perfect venue for a night of shenanigans.
Imperial Hotel
2-8 Bourke St, Melbourne 3000

This lively bar atop the Imperial Hotel is often thought of as one of the best places to watch sport in the CBD, as it overlooks the city skyline and has incredible views of Parliament house.
Imperial Hotel is one of the oldest and most popular bars in Melbourne, thanks to its excellent pub food and glorious sport viewing parties happening right in the heart of the city. It’s also close by to the Princess Theatre, making it the perfect stop-off, either before or after a performance. So kick back with a lager and enjoy all that this chic rooftop beer garden has to offer.
Naked For Satan
285 Brunswick St, Fitzroy 3065

If you’ve been to Melbourne a fair few times, or you live there, when you think of a rooftop bar then you have to think of Naked for Satan. This Fitzroy-based drinking institution may have a downstairs bar, but is well-known throughout the city for the views and brews being slung upstairs.
With tapa-inspired small plates, house-infused vodka you simply have to try and one of the absolute best views in the city, Naked for Satan has it all.
Union Electric Bar & Rooftop Gin Garden
13 Heffernan Ln, Melbourne 3000

If you’re looking for a super trendy rooftop gin garden with a rustic vibe and some of the finest cocktails Melbourne has to offer, then make sure you check out Union Electric Bar & Rooftop Gin Garden. This little hidden gem tucked away under the lightning bolt on Heffernan Lane in Chinatown serves delicious cocktails, craft beers, gin, rum and old school hip hop tunes.

International Qantas flights (from Sydney only) will start ahead of schedule to Fiji, Phuket, Bangkok, Singapore and Johannesburg.Qantas is also planning to launch a new route from Sydney to Delhi before Christmas (the first commercial flights for Qantas between Australia and India in almost a decade), and is taking two A380s out of storage and putting them back into service earlier than anticipated.Qantas announced all this on Friday morning. It comes after NSW premier Dominic Perrottet’s recent announcement that from November the 1st fully vaccinated travallers will not need to quarantine when entering NSW – a change Qantas says “significantly increases travel demand.”

Other key changes, according to Qantas, are that all Australian-based Qantas and Jetstar employees will be able to return to work in early December, and there will be more Points Planes for frequent flyers.Qantas announced, too, that Boeing is set to accelerate the delivery of three brand new 787 Dreamliners, which have been in storage for most of the pandemic.Qantas CEO Alan Joyce said: “This 20 months is probably the darkest period is probably the darkest period in Qantas 100 year history. But there is light at the end of the tunnel.”

He also said: “Australians rolling up their sleeves means our planes and our people are getting back to work much earlier than we expected.”“This is the best news we’ve had in almost two years and it will make a massive difference to thousands of our people who finally get to fly again.”“We know that Australians are keen to get overseas and see friends and family or have a long awaited holiday, so bringing forward the restart of flights to these popular international destinations will give customers even more options to travel this summer.”To read more about the changes, as well as Qantas’ upcoming flights to London and the USA, head on over to Qantas.

There are few men on this planet more likeable than Australia’s very own Daniel Ricciardo.Formula One drivers can be quite dour, but the sunny 31-year-old Perth native is an exception to that rule. Full of personality, constantly with a smile on his face and singularly responsible for introducing the ‘shoey’ to F1, the McLaren driver is just as loved for his egregious disposition as he is for his his driving chops. There’s a saying: even if you’re not a Ricciardo fan, you’re a Ricciardo fan.If you needed any further evidence for the type of guy ‘The Honey Badger’ is, check out his latest pre-race stunt. With the F1 circus in Austin for the United States Grand Prix, Ricciardo has decided to really get into the Texas spirit, visiting the track ahead of practice a few hours ago wearing a cowboy hat, Western shirt, big belt buckle and cowboy boots. He’s even shaved his characteristic beard into a handlebar moustache and mutton chops look for extra cowboy flavour… For an Aussie twist, the hat is actually an Akubra. All in all, it’s a rootin’-tootin’ outfit and shows once again why everyone bloody loves Daniel Ricciardo.
The 2021 United States Grand Prix kicks off today at the Circuit of the Americas with qualifying, with the race itself at 2pm Sunday, Austin time. We’re nearing the pointy end of the 2021 Formula One World Championship, with the title fight between Hamilton and Verstappen exceedingly close.Fingers crossed Ricciardo can pick up a few more points, too. Yeehaw!

Alitalia has gone bankrupt and staff are protesting for better pay and unemployment benefits.
The protest, which took place on Wednesday morning, saw dozens of former AliItalia flight attendants strip off their uniforms in central Rome.
The airline has had financial problems for a long time now, and it’s final flight took place on October the 14th. A new airline company, ITA, is now flying some of Alitalia’s old jets.
According to ABC, ITS bought the Alitalia brand, “but it is taking on fewer than 3,000 of Alitalia’s 10,000 employees.”
ABC reports: “Union officials say those who will work for ITA are being hired at significantly lower pay scales. Some 50 former flight attendants stood in rows in a square atop Rome’s Capitoline Hill, lowered their company shoulder bags to the cobblestone pavement, then slowly and in synch, removed their overcoats, then uniform jackets, then skirts, then stepped out of their high-heeled shoes.”
View this post on Instagram
“They remained barefoot, wearing only a slip, in silence for a few minutes. Then they carefully gathered up their garments and shoes and together shouted, ‘We are Alitalia!’ Union leaders have been pressing for the government to extend unemployment benefits for as long as five years.”
Traveller reports that during a conference launching the airline, ITA President Alfredo Altavilla said the slimmed down nature of ITA (less destinations, fleet and workforce) will enable it to compete with low-cost airlines while offering better service, connections and value.
View this post on Instagram
“ITA Airways is being born right-sized, in the optimal dimensions both in terms of the size of its fleet and its destinations,” he said. “We don’t carry with us the negative inheritance of being too big that conflict with the economic reality.”

This comes in a climate where, even among airlines that are surviving economically, COVID-19 pressures have led to incidents of disgruntled staff (and passengers) leading to a viscious cycle of mutual loathing (at worst) and frustration in many situations, particularly in the USA.
In fact, over in the USA, flight attendants have said they are sick of babysitting passengers and are being trained in self defence to be able to cope with the growing spate of ‘unruly behaviour.’
If you want to learn how to make flight attendants’ lives easier (and get special treatment every time you travel), watch the video below.

No sooner have we spoken about Joe Rogan indulging us with his latest and somewhat gross choice in superfood – if you haven’t yet read our other article, Joe eats liver for its high nutritional value – Ancestral Lifestyle founder Liver King has outdone him by a fair margin. In fact, you could go so far as to say, his win is in the bag.
How do you ‘out-gross’ liver, you may ask? The answer: testicles.
In a video that the squeamish may find hard to watch, Brian has recently taken to Instagram to show himself chowing down on a set of gonads, straight from a mammal. He doesn’t say which animal exactly lost his masculinity so Brian could have a “snack,” but judging by the size of them, we’d wager they’re from something like a bull.
He takes away the membrane (because that would just be too disgusting if he ate that as well), and takes a couple of generous bites out of the testicle itself. While it may not be uncommon for animal testicles to be consumed as delicacies around the world – in America and Canada you can get a dish known as “Rocky Mountain Oysters,” which are actually deep-fried, boiled or sautéed testicles – Brian decides to eat his (or rather, the animal’s) completely raw.
He captions his latest post: “Traditional peoples and early ancestral healers believed that eating the organs from a healthy animal would strengthen and support the health of the corresponding organ of the individual — also known as “like supports like.”
“For instance, the traditional way of treating a person with a weak heart was to feed the person the heart of a healthy animal. Likewise, the traditional way of treating a person with low virility (low testosterone, low libido, low fertility, etc) was to feed the person the most virile parts of the animal (chiefly the testicles).”
“Social norms are… well… just that. If you want more, you have to become more, so stretch yourself, leave the comfort of the cave, do something drastically different (for the betterment of you, and the betterment of humanity), and break new ground like a good evolutionary hunter does.”
Liver King recently came to our attention as someone who lives, what he dubs, an Ancestral Lifestyle, i.e. literally living like our ancestors. This means finding food in nature, or at least, eating it in the same ways they would have done, without their fancy ovens and skillets. He combines this with rigorous workout routines, and the visual results speak for themselves. The man is huge.
Meet the man who gets huge, living like our ancestors, in the video below.
So, while it may be a disgusting thought to tuck into some testes, they could make all the difference in helping you get absolutely shredded.
He adds in another video that “pre-game for Olympians, was to eat testicles, our gladiators, ate testicles, need I say more?”
There isn’t a huge amount of research into the nutritional value of testicles compared to other animal organs (although there is plenty that weighs up the benefit and risks of eating raw meat), although Thrillist does attest to their benefits: “these organs are so rich in vitamins, minerals, and protein, it’s a wonder why gym rats don’t blend them into workout shakes.”
Beamzen adds that there is around 26g of protein per 100 gram serving of bull’s testicles, along with a good serving of zinc, and as Healthline states, low levels of zinc can be a contributor to erectile dysfunction. You’re unlikely to find animal testicles in the aisles of your local supermarket, but next time you take a trip to the butcher, ask if you get your hands on some ghoulies, to at least give them a try.
