Honda Mean Mower Mk.2
Firstly, this is not another aftermarket creation from some backyard monkey wrencher. This is an official product from Honda and its goal is to recapture the crown as the world’s fastest ride-on lawnmower. Why? Because…why not.The original Mean Mower from Honda held the record as the world’s fastest lawnmower with a 186km/h top speed from 2014-2015. A Norwegian tuning company then tinkered with it and stole the title with a 214km/h mower. The Mk.2 sees this record coming back to Honda with a brand new lawnmower which can hit 216km/h. The gardening aid achieves this feat thanks to an engine lifted from a CBR1000RR Fireblade motorcycle. That means the mower packs 192hp and can also cut grass at up to 160km/h.Why? See the above.BUY $TBC
Gordon & MacPhail 1956 Private Collection
The 60-year-old Gordon and MacPhail bottle is a special batch of single malt scotch whisky. Bottled on January 3rd in 1956, it’s believed to be one of the last casks laid down by John Urquhart, a first-generation family member behind the Gordon & MacPhail whisky label. After Urquhart’s retirement his son took over the business and kept the cask under wraps until the fourth generation of the Urquhart family made the move to bottle it. The resulting whisky is one that features notes of blueberry, fruitcake and dark chocolate.Want a bottle? You’ll need to put out large. Only 53 decanters of the liquid gold will be made available from Gordon & MacPhail’s South Street retail store in Elgin, Scotland.

A fine selection of vintage American muscle can soon be yours with twenty four cars from Carroll Shelby’s own personal garage heading to the Bonhams auction block.
The vehicles on offer will include unicorns like the first Shelby Series 1 and the late racer’s own CSX 8000-series Cobra. Other notable models making up the 24 lots include a 1969 Shelby Mustang GT 500 that was previously owned by actor Jackie Cooper Jr.
Shelby’s cars have been auctioned off in the past but this latest one sees the biggest collection of his cars to ever be put on the market.
Interested parties needn’t be deterred either as the cars will all be put up without reserve. In other words, the cars will be sold at whatever the top bid gets to without needing to reach a minimum.
The vehicles will be auctioned off on June 3 via Bonhams.

It’s time to welcome another iconic Italian name to the performance car fold.
Ex-Ferrari design house Pininfarina is set to become a standalone carmaker and it will mark the occasion with the debut of their electric hypercar, codenamed PF-Zero. According to Autocar, the fully electric hypercar will have the financial and technical backing from Croatian manufacturer Rimac and Formula E’s Mahindra Racing team.
The goal? To see the PF-Zero take on big name players like Bugatti’s Chiron with electric power alone – that means surpassing the Chrion’s insane 1,479 horsepower (1,100kW) rating.
This bold approach by Pininfarina has been tried and tested by specialty carmakers before, whereby a hypercar is used to bring in the publicity and hype before an SUV is released thereafter to bolster longterm sales. The only difference here is that all of Pininfarina’s cars will be electric powered.
On the topic of SUVs, the Italian brand is also aiming for a performance-oriented model to take on the recently unveiled Lamborghini Urus. Named the PF-One, the planned SUV could see 940hp (700kW) in the power race whilst two smaller crossovers with less grunt will cover the competition between the Porsche Cayenne and Macan.
The article also predicts that the PF-Zero will arrive in 2020 with India’s Mahindra group investing over US$500 million into the Pininfarina four vehicle lineup.
Pipe dreams? Maybe not.
At Geneva this year Pininfarina had its track-only H2 Speed hydrogen fuel cell supercar (pictured) on display with thirteen actually being built to be sold. There’s also the video below to prove that the underpinning engineering exists.
Exciting times.

Even if you don’t feel like death warmed up, as Monday rolls around you probably wish you could’ve slept a bit longer last night. And if we told you eating 15% fewer calories per day could have a similar effect, you’d probably be tempted to offload last nights soggy leftovers to a workmate just for that. Add in the dramatic drop in night-time metabolic rates (the lower the rate, the deeper the sleep) this sort of diet involves, and it almost becomes a no-brainer.
“This study is the first to show that humans respond to calorie restriction by a reduction in resting metabolic rate”
Over the past two years the Pennington Biomedical Research Centre in Louisiana has been running an experiment which has shown that eating fewer calories than the daily recommended limit could be good for you. Of 53 adults who took part in the experiment, 34 were given a calorie restricted diet (15% less than the daily recommended limit), whilst the rest ate as much as they wanted.
Blood samples revealed that the 34 candidates who underwent the calorie-restricted regime experienced a 20% drop in cellular oxidative stress—damage to cells caused by byproducts of metabolism (one of the classic signs of ageing). The Associate Professor and head of the investigation, Leanne Redman, proposes this is a result of the 10% metabolic-drop in the subjects sleep patterns, which the experiment also found, likening the change to hibernation.
“This study is the first to show that humans respond to calorie restriction by a reduction in resting metabolic rate,” Luigi Fontana, a research professor at Washington University in St Louis, told New Scientist. He warns, however, that this drop in metabolism isn’t necessarily what has caused increased longevity in animals on calorie restricted diets, arguing that how cells sense the availability of food are likely to be more important.
Although the 20% drop in cellular oxidative stress found in the human subjects is a positive sign, so far no experiment has been run long enough to show how this will impact their life-expectancies.
So although this is a positive scientific discovery that may lead to our ancestors carving out 15% of each meal and putting it in a cryogenic futuristic #realfood instagram, until we get more proof: don’t start skipping meals and expecting to live longer. However, if you are looking to achieve a better nights sleep, you might want to give it a (well aimed) shot.
As with all quick fixes, there is a disclaimer: not only does calorie restriction require careful meal planning, but it also has side effects including loss of libido, and feeling cold.

The World Whisky Awards in London brought some accolades to an Australian name overnight with Sullivans Cove Distillery receiving the title for the World’s Best Single Cask Single Malt Whisky.
The winning bottle of Sullivans Cove American Oak was officially distilled in the year 2000 and bottled in 2017 to make for a 16 year-old bottle of liquid gold consisting of nothing but 100 percent Tasmanian malted barley and Tasmanian mountain water.
Only 136 bottles of the whisky have been produced with Head Distiller Patrick Maguire expressing his joy over the hard work’s pay off.
“To be crowned World’s Best at The World Whiskies Awards again is a wonderful honour. The distillery was in competition with over one thousand brands from around the globe, so it’s a fantastic achievement for us and Tasmania,” he said.
“These awards are incredible recognition of our dedicated and passionate team, and reinforce that Tasmania is one of the world’s best whisky making regions,” added Adam Sable, the Managing Director of Sullivans Cove.
The latest haul follows on from the Australian distillery’s win from the 2014 World Whisky Awards where it took out the World’s Best Single Malt Whisky – a first for Australia amongst competition which usually hails from Scotland or Japan.
Other notable winners on the list includes Japan’s Hakushu 25 Year-Old which took out top honours for the World’s Best Single Malt – it also retails for AU$4,000 locally if you’re curious. The World’s Best Grain Whisky meanwhile was taken out by a AU$45 bottle of South African Whisky for the first time.

Three words, one man. Black satin robe, Jeff Goldblum.
If anyone can pull off sleepwear on the red carpet, it’s this 65-year-old actor-turned-fashion icon.
At the New York premiere of his latest film Isle Dogs, Goldblum stepped out in a lavish black ensemble which consisted of a turtleneck, overcoat and a satin black robe. Yes, like one 007 would don after a passionate night of hot sex.
Bringing your jam-jams to the red carpet is risky in anyone’s book but Goldblum has seemingly made it work with an understated outfit which relies on textures rather than colours.

Paired with polished black shoes and black framed specs and the result is pretty damn slick.
Would we recommend you tried it? Absolutely. Just make sure there’s no questionable stains on the rob and be sure to layer like the boss has.
You’ll be oozing sexual charisma like this guy in no time.

A limited edition timepiece for a conceptual racing plane is right up Bell & Ross‘ alley.
For the 2018 Baselworld convention the French watch company debuted the BR V2-94 Racing Bird Chronograph, a bold pilot’s chronograph which evokes the sleek aesthetics of their conceptual BR-Bird racing plane complete with a unique rearward cockpit.
The vintage inspiration is absent in this piece with a clear emphasis on a modern look. A 41mm stainless steel case holds the BR-CAL.301, an automatic movement which drives the hours, minutes, seconds, date and twin 30-minute chronograph counters.
These details are finely contrasted against a white dial thanks to an orange seconds hand and chronograph sub-dials set in blue and white.
The Arabic numerals also make for a nice touch in the legibility front and the whole piece is polished off with a blue bezel.
The BR V2-94 Racing Bird Chronograph boasts a 42 hour power reserve and 10 metres of water resistance. It will come in a limited run of just 999 units and be paired with either a blue leather strap or steel bracelet.
Limited to 999 units, the BR V2-94 Racing Bird is powered the ETA 2894-2 (which B&R calls the BR-CAL.301) and is available on a blue leather strap or a steel bracelet.
No official Australian pricing has been released yet but U.S pricing currently starts from US$4,400 for the leather strap version. We’ll update this once local pricing has been announced.

This week we’ve hit up London, New York and Los Angeles for award shows, premiers and pretty much any other event we could find the week’s best dressed men.
Old favourites such as Stanley Tucci and Jeff Goldblum continue to do the round in classic menswear, whilst up and coming actors Jabari Johnson and Lonnie Chavis keep it casual but cool. Lonnie’s sweat is the bomb.
Then we have Jeremy Piven in his trademark paper boy hat and the and hilarious Jack Guinness still braving the London cold.

Ask and you shall receive. Whilst Rolex unveiled what was arguably the most talked about watch at this year’s Baselworld, its five-digit price tag is still a deterrent for some fans of the coveted ‘Pepsi’ design.
Enter sister company, Tudor. The Swiss watchmaker unveiled their own GMT Black Bay at the show alongside Rolex’s GMT-Master II and the result is quite stunning.
Three striking bracelets to choose from, a practical 41mm stainless steel case and a price tag that undercuts the Rolex by less than half the price is a winner in anyone’s book. Most importantly though, it still looks the part thanks to a well thought out blue print.
A precise Tudor Calibre MT5652 automatic looks after the movement with hours, minutes, seconds, date and a GMT function. For those unaware, a GMT function basically establishes the local time without losing sight of the time in two other time zones.
The black dial meanwhile features the signature Black Bay touches such as the snowflake hands and dotted indexes.
This is all tied together in a piece that boasts a 70-hour power reserve and 200 metre water resistance.
Three straps will be available to choose from including the steel bracelet, ‘terra di siena’ brown leather strap and a red striped fabric strap.
Local pricing is yet to be confirmed but there is Swiss pricing which sees the Tudor Black Bay GMT starting from 3400 CHF.
