If you haven’t heard of the legendary men’s Chelsea boot then your wardrobe has been missing out on one of the most reliable and stylish footwear options for men today.
What makes the humble Chelsea boot so popular? Predominantly, its ability to seamlessly transition between both the casual and formal wardrobe. Men’s Chelsea boots can be worn with a suit just as well as a pair of jeans, with the only rule being that they should be well looked after to retain their polished appeal.
With an illustrious ancestry extending back to the British monarchy, the Chelsea boot design was conceived by J. Sparks-Hall, Queen Victoria’s personal shoemaker. Chelsea boots (which wasn’t named as such in the early days) proved popular with horse riders due to their durable nature and lack of laces to risk getting tangled.
A quick walk down memory lane shows that Chelsea boots for men were originally intended as riding boots, but the little band you may have heard of, The Beatles, would eventually wear them on stage – as well as The Rolling Stones – launching them into the menswear essentials lookbook until the end of time.
But what should you look out for when searching for the best men’s Chelsea boots?
In this Chelsea Boots story…
Men’s Chelsea Boot Materials
The majority of Chelsea boots for men are going to be made from either leather or suede, with each material being better suited to winter and summer, respectively. Leather not only provides better protection against the winter elements of rain and snow, but it also moulds to your foot over time, making them more and more comfortable with each wear.
Suede, due to it being slightly harder to clean, is better suited to being worn in the summer months where they’re going to be less at risk of stains and rain. You’re more likely to find suede Chelsea boots in a wider range of colours too, so plenty of space for showing off your true colours.
Chelsea Boot Styles
As with any boot, men’s Chelsea boots can be styled in various ways. You can find Chelsea boots that end at the ankle, or finish above it. The higher the fit the easier the Chelsea boots are to wear with a suit as the top can be covered by your pants. Lower-fitting styles will end up showing more skin when you sit down, and nobody really wants that.
The style of the toe can differ from pair to pair too. Rounded toes are the perfect all-rounder, meaning they can be worn up or down, depending on the situation you find yourself in. Pointed toes are a harder style to pull off, and you’ll likely see these on the feet of mod-rockers and the more ‘rebellious’ types. Of course, they also lend well to more formal occasions.
Chelsea Boot Last
When searching for a pair of men’s Chelsea boots, you’re likely going to come across the term ‘last’, particularly with pairs from the more high-end manufacturers. A last is a solid form around which the boot is moulded. You’ll see a number associated with a particular last, and this could be exclusive to a particular brand, your knowledge of a brand will come good here. Although, if you’re not entirely sure what each last means for each manufacturer, a visit to a store or a quick email will help you out.
With the resurgence of the Chelsea boot in the men’s fashion space, there’s no shortage of materials, colours and price points to choose from. Thankfully we’re about to make your job easier with a selection of the best Chelsea boots for men to buy right now. And once you’ve done that you can learn how to wear and style them.

It’s no news that Jaguar have been quietly tinkering away at their revitalised D-type race car from the 1950s in order to fulfil an unfinished order. It’s an important milestone for Jaguar and that’s why Bremont have paid tribute to the car with their latest limited edition timepiece.
Only 300 pieces of the watch will be made to coincide with the car’s 300hp rating. Design-wise the blue dialled bi-compax chronograph (inspired by pantones of the Ecurie Ecosse Jaguar race team) features brushed nickel sub-dials and a Tachymeter dial ring with a movement housed in a 43mm satin finished three-piece Trip-Tick case – that means it’s eight times harder than regular steel cases.
Flip the watch around and you’ll be greeted with open case back which displays the mechanical BE-50AE movement in all its glory – intricate Jaguar steering wheel inspired rotor included. Other worthy design features include a crown bearing the original Dunlop tyre tread and heritage Jaguar logo finished on its end.
Technical Specifications
Case: 43mm satined and hardened stainless steel Bremont Trip-Tick construction

Despite the 432,298 hashtags devoted to it on Instagram, fibre is a nutrient oft relegated to the back of the cupboard, thought about as often as those mouldy oats you really need to throw away. But the truth is, according to the Victorian Government’s Better Health Channel, “Most Australians do not consume enough fibre.”
This is particularly worrying because, “In countries with traditionally high-fibre diets, diseases such as bowel cancer, diabetes and coronary heart disease are much less common than in Western countries,” (Better Health Channel).
“On average, most Australians consume 20–25 g of fibre daily. The Heart Foundation recommends that adults should aim to consume approximately 25–30 g daily,” the Better Health Channel’s latest guidelines read.
If this national average sounds like you, it might be an idea to up your intake to avoid the various disorders that can come with a low fibre diet, which include constipation, IBS, diverticulitis, heart disease and (in some cases) cancer.
This issue was recently brought to prominence by an article in Elle Magazine, in which Hollywood’s favourite health experts Danielle Duboise and Whitney Tingle (who are loved by celebs like Gwyneth Paltrow and Lily Aldridge) warned that our neighbours across the pond are just as bad as us when it comes to consuming roughage.
“Only two percent of Americans get the recommended daily amount of fiber,” (Elle Magazine).
In addition to the adverse effects previously mentioned, Danielle and Whitney added that your fibre intake can impact everything from your sleep to your sex drive. So—as it takes a rare individual not to care about either of those—a browse of the following high-fibre might be in order…
- Cruciferous vegetables and leafy greens (e.g. broccoli)
- Legumes (e.g. lentils)
- Sprouted nuts (e.g. raw almonds and walnuts
In terms of snacking throughout the day, The Fitness Chef has a handy little graphic, seen below, which will help you stay informed.

With the rise of low-carb diets, which if implemented the lazy way (which is sadly the case much of the time), generally steer people away from high-fibre meals like porridge and towards high protein meals like bacon and eggs, we could well see this phenomenon increase.
So if you are a big Keto or Atkins diet fan—make sure you don’t skimp on the fibre-containing aspects of your diet. Or, in other words, respect what you’ve been told since time immemorial—eat your fruit and veggies.

If you’re on your third cup of coffee for the day and feeling the jitters then don’t worry – you’ve still got room for three more. Six is the magic number that pushes coffee to a point where it’s detrimental to your health, according to the latest research from the University of South Australia.
The first-time findings claim that once you go six cups or more, you’ll immediately increase your chances of heart disease by 22 percent. This study on the long term effects of coffee consumption in relation to cardiovascular disease was headed by UniSA researchers Dr Ang Zhou and Professor Elina Hyppönen of the Australian Centre for Precision Health. More specifically the study confirms that this is the point in which excess caffeine causes high blood pressure – a precursor to heart disease.
“Coffee is the most commonly consumed stimulant in the world – it wakes us up, boosts our energy and helps us focus – but people are always asking ‘How much caffeine is too much?’,” Professor Hyppönen says.
“Most people would agree that if you drink a lot of coffee, you might feel jittery, irritable or perhaps even nauseas – that’s because caffeine helps your body work faster and harder, but it is also likely to suggest that you may have reached your limit for the time being.”
“We also know that risk of cardiovascular disease increases with high blood pressure, a known consequence of excess caffeine consumption. In order to maintain a healthy heart and a healthy blood pressure, people must limit their coffees to fewer than six cups a day – based on our data six was the tipping point where caffeine started to negatively affect cardiovascular risk.”
The research was conducted with a pool of 347,077 participants aged between 37 and 73 years-old. “An estimated three billion cups of coffee are enjoyed every day around the world,” Prof Hyppönen adds.
“Knowing the limits of what’s good for you and what’s not is imperative. As with many things, it’s all about moderation; overindulge and your health will pay for it.”

The year was 1998 and boy bands like The Backstreet Boys, NSycn, 5IVE (legitimately spelt with a digit) were reigning supreme on the pop charts, but what else did they all have common? Chris Pine’s centre split haircut which defined an era of young men who wanted to look cool with their head-to-toe track suits and baggy ‘poo pants’.
It was a marvellously interesting decade and whilst the sports branded tracksuits have long gone, Chris Pine has seemingly brought back the haircut without anyone even noticing. And somehow he made it look cool. But let’s face it, Pine could make a mullet look cool. Pine was spotted at a TNT event recently in North Hollywood rocking a very stylish suede combo that consisted of a mustard yellow suede jacket, washed denim, a relaxed scoop neck tee and beige suede boots.
It’s a simple yet effective look made for weekend duties so if you’re looking for a versatile and affordable look to pull off then this is it. All you need is a good suede jacket, nicely fitted denim and a slick pair of chelsea boots. The centre split hair? We’ll leave that optional for other men’s hairstyles that are trending at the moment.
Just don’t say we didn’t warn you…

When watch makers talk about watches from a vintage era, it’s usually a watch inspired by the vintage era. Not today. The IWC Big Pilots watch you see before you is an original and ultra rare timepiece hailing from the 1940s WWII era.
Military watch collector Konrad Knirim was the previous owner of this highly coveted piece and today it could be yours for a relatively low price (for a piece of this calibre and age) which is expected to fetch between US$15,000 to $25,000. The model itself is named ‘Grosse Fliegeruhr’ and it was one of the watches delivered to the Luftwaffe, the German Air Force, who armed their pilots with a wristwatch that was accurate, robust, and easy to read during missions. And use it they did. The watch’s earliest active duty came during the Battle of Britain or operation SeaLion (August 1940-May 1941).
What made this piece even more special was the fact that only movement numbers between 1.013.801 and 1.015.000, and case numbers between 1.033.201 and 1.034.200, were considered correct for the 1940 Grosse Fliegeruhr.
Novelty details on the watch includes unique code engravings from the days of active duty including the inside case back which is engraved with ‘B-Uhr: Beobachtungs-Uhr’ (German for Navigation Watch). Look closer and there’s even flight department numbers the watch was assigned to. In total there were only 1,200 pieces made with 1,000 of them going to the German Air Force. The remaining 200 were used for English deck watches.
We don’t suggest you wear this one to your next dinner party though as it’s considered the largest calibre ever made by IWC – the case is 55mm in diameter. Other notable specs include manual winding and centre-seconds all within a watch that presents AAA grading.
Those interested can drop their enquiry at Antiquorum now.

Most encounters with LEGO are a fleeting moment that lasts between the ages of 3 to 12 (15 if you’re cool like us). For Jens Kronvold Frederiksen, that love affair lasted a lifetime and has seen him rise to the top as the Creative Director of LEGO’s iconic Star Wars line. Whilst this year marks the 20th anniversary of that toy line, it also marks the 21st work anniversary of Frederiksen at LEGO – arguably the happiest place to work in the world.
We wanted to find out for sure so we asked him what the $100,000-plus job entails and whether it really is all just plastic and games.
Scoring A Job At LEGO
Frederiksen admits that his job offer came as an accident rather than him actively seeking it. With his professional background in graphics, Frederiksen was just a guy who built WWII plastic model kits and played with LEGO in his spare time.
“I was at an exhibition where I had my models and there were some LEGO people there and they were looking into hiring designers and they asked me. It was a coincidence,” he says. Today the job recruitment process is very different.
“A lot of LEGO designer applicants go through a lot of interviews and some selected people get different workshops for different tasks, like things they have to build for instance.”
According to Frederiksen, the skills you need to be a successful LEGO designer are simple and not unlike regular jobs that require specific skills:
- A knowledge and passion for LEGO
- A natural talent to build
- An engineering, creative or design background is very beneficial
- People applying for jobs are required to have studied industrial design
Frederiksen notes that passion is the most valuable trait to get LEGO hopefuls over the line. He recommends joining communities and events in order to meet the right people.
LEGO Work Culture & Career Growth
According to estimates from Glassdoor, Frederiksen’s role can attract an annual salary of anywhere between AU$90,000 to $162,000. That’s serious coin for 9 to 5 job designing toys but Frederiksen assures us that there’s much more to it.
“I’ve worked on the same product line for a very long time in my career – for 21 years now. I started with Star Wars right from the beginning and I’m still super passionate about it.”
“People move around a lot in the company. It’s very unusual for one person to work on the same product line for so long but for me it’s been great because I love it. It’s gotten bigger over the years with new movies and new ideas that make it more interesting.”
“Work hours we work a lot,” adds Frederiksen. The bulk of these hours are spent in big teams in open office environments. Designers, engineers, product leaders, the marketing team and even the people developing the building instructions all stand together, so there’s rarely ever solitary work.
“For the whole process it’s super beneficial but also a lot of fun being able to sit together. We work a lot and it’s a demanding job but it’s fun and we have a lot of travelling so that’s a good part of it.”
Stressful Aspects Of The ‘Dream Job’
With great fun comes great stress but Frederiksen says most of the time you forget because it’s so darn enjoyable.
“I would say for our Star Wars product line which is an intellectual property part line, one of our challenges is to get references when new movies come out.”
“We are developing our moulds at the same time the movie is being made and Lucasfilm really do their best to supply us with immediate reference, but sometimes there’s really late changes in the movie and this impacts what we’re doing so I would say that’s the most challenging part of the job.”
The proudest moment of being a LEGO designer, according to Frederiksen, is seeing your final product for the first time on toy shelves.
Does One Get Bored Of Building LEGO Everyday?
“No,” answers a defiant Frederiksen. Most people struggle to stay in a company for two years let alone two decades but for this man, it’s all about the journey. Frederiksen now commands a team of model designers and he only needs to build LEGO when the product is complete as part of quality control.
“It’s a lot of models but I still love that part of the process…to see them built,” he says.

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”223166″ img_size=”medium” add_caption=”yes”][vc_column_text]Yes, it doesn’t GMT but hear us out.
Ever since Rolex started releasing stainless steel versions of their sports watches, we have fallen in love. Our favourite you ask? None other than the GMT – Master II.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The fusion of the 24 hour rotating GMT bezel, Jubilee bracelet and Oystersteel construction is the perfect combination of practicality, beauty and durability, which is appropriate for all occasions. Whether you are heading to the gym or out for a sophisticated dinner, the GMT will have you covered. Having a watch that is so capable warrants the idea, why have any more? and with the GMT – Master II this is a serious possibility.
Another key feature of the GMT is its ability to display the time, in two timezones. This is a perfect detail for those who travel often and need to reference the time back home, alternatively it works well for those who need to communicate with other overseas. Realistically, anyone can find a use for the GMT function of their watch.
Aesthetically, the Jubilee bracelet is a timeless look that embodies luxury and elegance. In the guise of the GMT – Master II, the bracelet and case are both constructed from Oystersteel which provides and exceptional finish when polished and is able to resist corrosion, even in the harshest conditions due to it’s aerospace origins. The GMT is available in two colour-ways, red and blue known as the ‘Pepsi’ and black and blue known as the ‘Batman’, no matter which you go for, it will look fantastic.
So whats the catch? It is priced at $12,250. Unattainable for some, just plain unavailable for others.
The solution? Simple. The Seiko SKX009K2 and SKX007K2.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”223147″ img_size=”medium” add_caption=”yes” onclick=”custom_link” img_link_target=”_blank” link=”https://www.amazon.com.au/Seiko-SKX007K2-Divers-Automatic-Watch/dp/B000B5OD4I/”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”223146″ img_size=”medium” add_caption=”yes”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Priced at around $350, the SKX offers terrific value, especially in comparison to the GMT with many comparable features including a rotating red and blue bezel, automatic movement, Jubilee bracelet and stainless steel construction. The Seiko actually outperforms the GMT on two fronts, water resistance and the ‘day’ function. The SKX is rated at 200m water resistance in comparison to the GMT’s 100m rating, impressive for something a fraction of the price.
This means you can comfortably swim, snorkel and even dive with the SKX without concern, something that the GMT isn’t capable of. Another difference is that the Rolex only offers a ‘date’ function which shows what day of the month it is (1-31). In contrast, the SKX offers a ‘day’ and ‘date’ function which displays the day of the week (Monday – Sunday) as well as the date. The only real difference between the two watches are that the Seiko doesn’t offer a two time zone function as it is a dive watch.
Whatever way you look at the SKX it is a win. Those who aren’t watch snobs might mistake it’s Rolex counterpart and those who are watch snobs will deeply respect it. So whats holding you back? Go get one.

Much like perfume and cologne, scented candles create a signature. They personalize your living space (or man cave) by making it your own. The kind of scented candle you choose not only tells a lot about your person, but it also sets the mood of a room. Choose well and you’ll be king of your lair. Choose wrong and you suffer the consequence of a bad impression.
A scent evokes emotion so begin your selection with the end in mind. Consider the occasion, the venue, and time of day. And if you can, go with a smell that complements your own bottled potion. This can be a handy strategy, more so if the objective is to set your signature scent in stone.
Selecting can be a tedious task, so we rounded up the best-scented candle brands for men so you can save time and focus on things that matter.
