‘F1 Car’ Spotted Sending It On Major European Motorway
‘F1 Car’ Spotted Sending It On Major European Motorway

Every revhead dreams about driving a race car on normal roads, but one crazy bastard in the Czech Republic has been spotted doing just that.

A mystery driver surprised commuters on the D4 motorway southwest of Prague yesterday morning by driving what appeared to be Ferrari-liveried Formula 1 car on the road alongside normal traffic.

The car actually appears to be an ex-GP2 Dallara GP2/08 car – not a proper F1 car but still very impressive – and the livery has a weird mish-mash of sponsors and Ferrari badges.

Of course, this is incredibly illegal. But we love it.

WATCH this race car’s wild motorway drive below.

The GP2 Series, which ran from 2005 to 2016 (when it was rebranded as Formula 2), was a single-make ‘feeder series’ for F1. As Road & Track explains, GP2 ran just three years with the GP2/08, which means there’s a bunch of just-below-F1-caliber machines out there for collectors. It’s powered by a 4.0L V8 that makes around 460kW… So it sounds pretty amazing.

Czech police are reportedly trying to track down the driver, but are struggling to identify them – turns out a race helmet and overalls are a rather great disguise.

This isn’t the first time this GP2 car has prepared on Czech roads, either. The car and its driver were last spotted enjoying a drive on the very same motorway back in 2019, where the driver also escaped police justice.

‘Ignorant’ Tourists Spark Anger In Spain After Posing On Historic Monument
‘Ignorant’ Tourists Spark Anger In Spain After Posing On Historic Monument

A group of tourists have been shamed online after posing for photos on an important archaeological and historical site in Galicia. The incident has sparked a discussion around tourist etiquette – and also that of the example set by locals.

Galician Twitter user Fodechinchos en Galiza has slammed a group of tourists for posing for photos on a historic monument in the north of Spain. If the photo is to be believed, the group of tourists were hanging out on a historically significant set of towers (with an arch between them), with some of them appearing to be taking photos (or posing for them). This did not go down well with Fodechinchos en Galiza, who took a photo of the group of people, and posted it to Twitter with the following caption (translated): “Torres do Oeste in Catoira. Ignorance is international.”

Though they sympathised, not everyone completely agreed with him, however, with one other Twitter user urging Fodechinchos not to be so sweeping in his analysis, writing (also translated): “Why the hell is there no surveillance anywhere? There are no rules in Galicia? Even so, many of the people who clown are also Galician. A bit or rigor.”

“What a disaster,” another added – “and how many Galicians will there be there?” This came in and amongst supportive comments like: “There was no one with a stone and good aim at that time?????” and “I’ve gone to places around the world…[but] Who the f**k can come up with those things?”

“Tired of all this troop. God,” said another, with yet further Twitter users adding their two cents to the bonfire in the form of remarks like “ignorant,” “I can’t believe it” and “they don’t respect anything.” This isn’t the first time a complaint about tourists climbing this historic site has been posted to social media either, with Instagram user maltratodapaisaxe posting a photo of their own four days ago with the caption: “And these photos of Romaria Vinquinga de hoxe in #Catoira show us. Nor are there authorities that prevent the continuation of climbing the stones of our heritage.”

Torres de Oeste is (or was) a defensive structure, and is one of the most important archaeological and historical sites in Galicia. It is on a rocky promontory on the south bank of the Ulla River, connected to the mainland by a swamp.

According to Follow The Vikings: “It almost becomes an island with high tide, contributing to its insularity” and “was declared a Historic and Artistic Monument in 1931.”

“Its origin dates back to the culture of castros (pre-Roman settlements), and later was used by the Romans.”

Follow The Vikings

In other Galicia-related news, tourists could soon be fined more than $1,000 for urinating in or near the ocean in Vigo. It remains unclear how the rule would be enforced, but imagining how it might work sparked a lot of mirth and speculation online when it was announced.

(Not so) happy days.

The World’s Longest Car: ‘The American Dream’
The World’s Longest Car: ‘The American Dream’

Americans love cars – the bigger, the better. But this extreme ride, officially the longest car in the world, takes American automotive excess to the next level…

Appropriately named ‘The American Dream’, this extremely modified 1976 Cadillac Eldorado is 30.54 metres long, weighs 11,340kgs, has 24 wheels and a boatload of features (boatload being an entirely appropriate term for such a boat of a car) that’d put any Maybach to shame.

Not only can it fit over 75 people, but it contains a large waterbed; a swimming pool complete with a diving board; a jacuzzi, a bathtub and a full-size fridge; a mini-golf course and even a helipad, which is structurally mounted to the vehicle with steel brackets underneath and can support over 2,000kgs of weight.

What’s even more impressive is that this Trumpian limo, which held the record of the world’s longest car in 1986, spent over three decades completely abandoned before some enterprising engineers revived it this year and lengthened it further still, making it beat its own record. Madness.

WATCH the story behind ‘The American Dream’ below.

“While the car was very popular during its heyday, it gradually lost the attention once dedicated to its maintenance,” Guinness World Records explains. “Obstacles such as where to park such a long vehicle and a decreased demand for the unique car in films caused its fame to eventually burn out.”

Thankfully, Autoseum (a technical teaching museum in New York) and Dezerland Park (a tourist attraction in Florida) teamed up to restore the colossal car. The project, which cost over US$250,0000 in shipping, materials, and labour, took three years to complete.

Now we know what you’re thinking: does it run? It does. It’s powered by two V8s: one at the front, one at the rear, and it can be driven from both ends. It’s also got a hinge in the middle for those tricky tight corners.

It’s probably not the world’s best daily driver, though.

Who Is Lee Pace?

Image: @leeepfrog

Lee Pace is an American actor who was born in Chickasha, Oklahoma to parents Charlotte and James. Lee also has a sister. Growing up, Lee Pace spent a lot of time in Saudi Arabia, as his father worked in the oil business, before moving to Houston, Texas.

Lee went to school in Texas with fellow American actor, Matt Bomer. Pace showed an interest in acting and performing from a young age, and after a brief stint attending Houston’s Alley Theatre, he eventually attended the Drama Division of New York’s Juilliard School.

Lee appeared in several plays during his time at the Juilliard School, including taking on the lead roles in Romeo and Juliet, Richard II and Julius Caesar. He graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts.

Lee Pace Movies & TV Shows

Lee Pace began his acting career on the stage after graduation, although didn’t make his Broadway debut until 2011. One of his earliest feature film appearances, however, came in 2003 with the film Soldier’s Girl. In the film, he played a transsexual, which he admitted was a challenging role, but this was also the reason he wanted to become an actor.

Some of Lee’s other films in the early 2000’s include Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day, Possession and The Good Shepherd.

Some Lee Pace fans may know him best for his appearance in the final instalment of the Twilight franchise, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2. Pace played Garrett, a nomadic vampire, in the movie. Lee’s performance was met with positive reviews.

Lee also appeared in Steve Spielberg’s 2011 film, Lincoln. His latest movie project is the recently released Bodies Bodies Bodies, a black comedy horror film that was released in the US on August 5, 2022. The film also stars Pete Davidson.

The Hobbit

One of Lee Pace’s standout roles was that of Thranduil, the king of the Mirkwood Elves in The Hobbit trilogy. Pace only had a small role in the prologue of the first movie, An Unexpected Journey, but was given far more screentime in The Desolation of Smaug and The Battle of the Five Armies.

Guardians of the Galaxy

Another of Lee Pace’s movie roles that you might have been unaware of was his portrayal of Ronan the Accuser in Guardians of the Galaxy in 2014. He reprised the role the 2019 Marvel movie, Captain Marvel.

Television

Lee Pace has also appeared in a number of television shows, including Pushing Daisies as the lead character Ned but is perhaps best known for his role in Halt and Catch Fire.

Who is Lee Pace dating?

Lee Pace’s co-star in The Hobbit, Ian McKellen outed Pace as gay. At the time, Lee didn’t address the comments, although he did come out in a 2018 interview with W Magazine. He has also previously told The New York Times about being a queer actor.

Lee likes to keep his private life, private, but through various photos posted to social media, it was confirmed that Lee Pace was dating Matthew Foley. Matthew says on his Instagram page, is the VP for Thom Browne (which could explain why Lee wore Thome Browne to the 2021 Met Gala). And, in an interview with GQ in August 2022, Lee Pace revealed he was married to Matthew.

The pair have occasionally posted photos to their Instagram accounts that feature the other, and in a 2021 post, Lee thanked Matthew, along with others he has a “deep feeling of gratitude for,” on his birthday.

Multiple pictures of Lee Pace have gone viral over the years, particularly in the gay community due to his physical appearance. But one image of Lee, taken in 2018 (above) is doing the rounds again on social apps such as TikTok. It shouldn’t take too *long* to see why it’s become so popular.

More Men Should Pull A Shawn Mendes & Take Time Off Work
More Men Should Pull A Shawn Mendes & Take Time Off Work

DMARGE exclusively spoke to Men’s Performance Coach, Mike Campbell, who says men struggling with their mental health should feel more comfortable taking time off work, just like singer/songwriter Shawn Mendes recently did.

Just over two weeks ago, Shawn Mendes – the Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter best known for his songs Stitches and Treat You Better – took to social media to announce that he had cancelled all upcoming tour dates in North America, the UK and Europe. The 24-year-old wrote, “At this time, I have to put my health as my first priority.”

Many applauded Mendes for prioritising his mental and physical health and for being so transparent about it. Like, seriously transparent about it; the In My Blood singer even told TMZ three days ago that he’s “taking a lot of time just, like, doing therapy.”

And it got us thinking. Should more men take a page out of Mendes’ book and quit their jobs to look after their mental health? DMARGE exclusively spoke to Men’s Performance Coach, Mike Campbell to get a professional’s perspective on Mendes cancelling his tour.

“Shawn [Mendes] taking a break from this tour is a big deal. On the one hand, he has thousands of people depending on him, [which] must be a tough thing to carry and weigh up. But for his own personal wellbeing, it was clearly the right choice. However, it also supports other men in seeing that honouring struggle and poor health of any sort can be done without shame.”

Mike Campbell

And as for whether other men should follow Mendes’ lead, Mike recommends that men should just be open with their boss if they’re struggling with mental health issues. Mike also believes that men don’t necessarily have to quit but should definitely consider taking some time off if they need it.

“Should men quit their job? Maybe. However, we do need to consider our responsibilities, and so if quitting added further pressure and stress, that might not be a wise idea. I can suggest having an open and honest conversation with a boss or employer about your situation and possibly simply asking for some time. And while that might feel terrifying, I suggest the way to approach it is to ask for their support in something that is very important to you and impactful to your work.”

“I’ll say this too, Shawn [Mendes] hasn’t quit his job but stopped a part of his role temporarily. I think that becomes an easier step for some men to take. Quitting might seem easier than a hard conversation, but those conversations are often not as bad as we build them up to be beforehand. And the result might be the perfect situation.”

Mike Campbell

However, there are many men who never take sick leave – you know the type; he could be bleeding profusely or practically on his death bed and he’ll still pull up to the office eager to please. For those men who rarely take sick days off work, Mike has some incredible advice and strongly encourages them to prioritise their health (whether it be mental or physical) over their job.

More men should take time off work if they’re struggling, and doing so does not make you a “lazy prick”. Image Credit: Great Place To Work

“There is no end-of-life award for the man who suffered in silence the most and turned up to work the most when he was ill and best served to take a day or two off. There is nothing noble in it, yet we still think we have to push on through.”

“Taking a day here and there is not all of a sudden becoming a lazy prick.”

Mike Campbell

“Being able to reconcile that and allowing yourself to have a day, knowing the work will still be there, the company will (likely) still go on and it will be ok, is often needed to give ourselves permission. The world won’t end nor will you be seen as weak for having a sick day.”

We here at DMARGE completely agree and think more men should prioritise their mental health. And if that means taking some time off work à la Shawn Mendes, so be it. Go forth and chuck a few sickies gentlemen.

What Is BeReal? The Photo Sharing App Taking The World By Storm
What Is BeReal? The Photo Sharing App Taking The World By Storm

Generation Z has a new photo-sharing app in their lives called BeReal. Founded in 2020, BeReal has only just started seeing a surge in popularity in 2022, especially with a younger audience. Could it be that Instagram has started to become old news?

If you’ve never heard of it before, you may be wondering “what is BeReal?” Well, we’re here to answer that question, along with how it works and why it has started to become so popular.

What Is BeReal?

BeReal is a social media application founded by French app developer Alexis Barreyat in 2020. BeReal is available for both iOS and Android devices. While BeReal didn’t find much of audience upon its launch, it started seeing a spike in popularity in 2022, particularly with college campuses, thanks to an ambassador program launched by BeReal.

As of April 2022, BeReal had been downloaded over 7.67 million times, according to TechCrunch, with 65% of those download numbers occurring in 2022 and by July 2022, the number of downloads had increased to over 20 million.

How Does BeReal Work?

BeReal is a photo-sharing social media app at its very core. But, the way it works and the way you share photos – or rate, share a BeReal – is entirely different to how you would use other platforms such as Instagram.

In the app description on the Apple App Store, BeReal says it is “your chance to show your friends who you really are, for once,” as states it “won’t make you famous. If you want to become an influencer you can stay on TikTok and Instagram.”

BeReal takes advantage of both the front and rear cameras on your smartphone, which are used to take the BeReal you share with your friends within the app. However, the app chooses when you should take a BeReal photo.

How To Take A BeReal

I didn’t get a chance to fix my hair. I was “real.”

At a random time throughout the day, BeReal will notify you to take a BeReal and only give you a 2-minute window within which to take and share it. If the 2-minutes expire and you don’t share, then you can still post, but the app will tell you how late you were in taking your photo.

The idea is that you share with your friends what you are up to at that exact moment, as opposed to you choosing what you want to share with friends, whenever you want to share it. You do get multiple attempts to take and share your BeReal within your allotted time window, and how long you take is also shared with other users.

Users and friends you have on the BeReal app can comment on the BeReal photo you share, and can also react to it using “RealMojis.” These require you to recreate some popular emojis, such as thumbs up, a shocked face or a smiling face.

You can also choose to take an image of yourself providing any reaction you want.

Once you have shared a BeReal, you can add a caption to your image to give it greater context.

Memories

In your profile section, BeReal shows you your previous BeReal images, which are called “memories.”

Can You Delete A BeReal?

Yes, you can delete a BeReal, but you only get one chance to do so. You also can’t share more than one BeReal within your timed window.

By only offering one chance to delete, BeReal lives up to its name by forcing users to “be real,” and to not use any editing software, or give them chance to make themselves appear how they want to be viewed on social media. There are no filter options of any kind on BeReal.

Why Is BeReal Popular?

BeReal has become popular with a younger audience because it offers something fresh. One review on the Apple App Store says, “What I love about this app is that you don’t have to replace the other social media apps you already have. It’s just a simple little extension in your day, and it’s fun!”

And, because of the fact you only need to interact with the app for two minutes every day, it offers the chance to cut down on screen time. Or at least, it doesn’t buy into the fact many of us have a social media addiction, spending hours each day scrolling through our feeds.

BeReal App

Follow these links to download the BeReal app for iOS and Android. The BeReal app is free to download and there are no in-app purchases.

The Reason So Many NFL Quarterbacks Don’t Have Six Packs
The Reason So Many NFL Quarterbacks Don’t Have Six Packs

Professional athletes need to maintain a heightened level of fitness, so much so that we expect athletes competing in any sport to be certifiably ripped. But what about NFL quarterbacks? Many don’t have the chiselled six-packs you might expect. But there’s a perfectly justified reason.

We’ve already discussed how getting ripped is overrated anyway, using Tom Brady as an example. When we published that article, we used an image of Tom looking not unfit by any means, but not exactly what you would imagine a world-class athlete to look like. Today, it’s hard to find an image of Tom without a shirt on, but this family portrait from 2021 shows he certainly has greater muscle definition than he did in 2018.

But for Tom Brady and his NFL quarterback peers, having a six-pack and being lean could almost be a detriment to their performance. Tom’s physique and that of other current quarterbacks in the NFL, such as Joe Burrow, aren’t perhaps as physically impressive as wide-receiver DK Metcalf, for example, who is an absolute unit. Chicago Bears’ QB Justin Fields may also be an exception to the rule.

The role of the quarterback, in case you were blissfully unaware, is to lead the offence. This means they call the order of play, will receive the ball from the centre and then throw the football long down the field to a receiver.

In short, they don’t move around the pitch as much as some of their team members, but they do need to be able to withstand tackles from the opposing team. It’s for these reasons that their physical appearance is as it is. Plus, using Tom Brady as an example again, with his legendary status and crazy-high paycheck, we don’t think he would actually care if he has a six-pack or not. He still performs on the pitch, when it matters (not to mention it’s a bit sad that some people are still body shaming him, in this supposedly enlightened era we live in).

RELATED: American Man’s ‘Beast Mode’ Bench Press Highlights Difference Between Strength & Size

As Ben Lucas, former NRL hotshot and founder of Flow Athletic tells DMARGE, “Quarterbacks are the MVP of any team. They need to inspire the team, call the huddles, make the calls and ensure that their passes are accurate and get to where they need to be.”

“QBs on average are around 6’3″ which allows them to see about the shorter players and make passes that shorter players may not otherwise be able to make. They are also often big guys, with some articles saying that they are 25 pounds heavier than a defensive back, but 90 pounds lighter than a defensive linesman.”

In the case of Tom Brady, he stands at an impressive 6 ft 4 in and weighs around 102kg. The average weight of a defensive lineman in the NFL is 142kg, and for a defensive back, around 90kgs.

Speaking of the training routine of an NFL quarterback, Ben tells DMARGE, “The training routine would be well rounded with strength, cardio and training that will improve their throwing ability into the mix. They would do a lot of single arm work, rotational work such as lunges with a weighted rotational twist, and exercises to reduce the chance of arm and shoulder injuries, such as T raises.”

Touching on the training exercises more specific to a quarterback, Ben continues, “Throwing would be one of their most important things to focus on, as would cardio and endurance. Lots of their work would be single arm exercises to ensure both arms are being trained equally and lateral movement.”

In short, NFL quarterbacks need to be strong, not just to have serious throwing power, but to give them the stamina to last around 3 hours on the pitch. To help illustrate why a ripped physique doesn’t necessarily mean someone is going to be strong, Ben elaborates,

“Having a ripped physique often comes down to genetics and diet. The thing with gridiron players is that they get hit and pushed a lot, so they need to be big and strong.”

“Therefore, their diets would probably not be as lean (depending on their position) as a runner, swimmer or attacking player in rugby league. It is safer for an NFL player to be a little bulkier, given how hard they are allowed to run into each other in a game.”

Paul Green’s Death Yet Another Sad Statistic Of Australia’s Mental Health Struggles
Paul Green’s Death Yet Another Sad Statistic Of Australia’s Mental Health Struggles

NRL legend Paul Green sadly passed away yesterday. And it’s now been confirmed that the premiership-winning North Queensland Cowboys coach took his own life. He was only 49.

Paul Green had an incredible career as a professional rugby league player; he even won the Rothmans Medal (now called the Dally M Medal) in 1995 while playing for the Sharks. Over his active years, Green played for the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks, North Queensland Cowboys, Sydney Roosters, Parramatta Eels and Brisbane Broncos.

Green then began his coaching career after retiring from playing in 2005. Most recently, Green was appointed as head coach of Queensland for the 2021 State of Origin series – which Queensland ultimately won.

According to the Courier Mail, Green’s family and close friends were not aware that Green was struggling and his suicide came as an unpleasant surprise. QRL chairman Bruce Hatcher said, “I am totally shocked and very emotional. I just can’t believe it.”

7 News has reported that Green spent Wednesday, the day before his death, celebrating his son, Jed’s birthday.

If anything can be learned from Green’s passing, it’s that Australians should strive to check in with each other more; even if things seem to be going well for someone.

Lifeline, Australia’s largest suicide prevention service provider’s website states that “8.6 Australians die every day by suicide” and “75% of those who take their own life are male”. These extremely grim statistics prove that better mental health education is needed across the country to prevent future suicides.

However, Lifeline does provide a comprehensive list of things to look out for in a loved one and recommends regularly checking in with friends and family – even if they’re not showing any outward signs of struggle – because even though it “might seem like a difficult conversation to have, it could be a life-saving one”.

DMARGE couldn’t agree more. So please take some time today to check in with your loved ones; even if it’s just a simple text asking ‘how are you?’ And if you’re struggling yourself, please contact LifelineBeyond Blue, Suicide Call Back ServiceMensLine Australia or see your GP for help.

Who Is ‘Crying CEO Guy’? HyperSocial CEO Being Roasted On LinkedIn
Who Is ‘Crying CEO Guy’? HyperSocial CEO Being Roasted On LinkedIn

Braden Wallake, the CEO of HyperSocial, a marketing services agency based in Columbus, Ohio, has been on the receiving end of criticism after posting an image of himself crying on LinkedIn. Wallake posted the image in response to his own actions of laying off some of his staff.

However, despite him posting the image in the hope of coming across as genuine, it has instead been on the receiving end of thousands of comments calling him out for being ‘out of touch.’

Why did Braden Wallake post a crying selfie?

Braden posted a selfie of himself crying on his LinkedIn profile on Wednesday 10th of August. He said in the caption, “This will be the most vulnerable thing I’ll ever share.”

“I’ve gone back and forth whether to post this or not. We just had to layoff a few of our employees. I’ve seen a lot of layoffs over the last few weeks on LinkedIn.”

“Most of those are due to the economy, or whatever other reason. Ours? My fault.”

“I made a decision in February and stuck with that decision for far too long…And because of those failings, I had to do today, the toughest thing I’ve ever had to do.”

With the aim of showing how good-natured of a person he is, Braden continued,

“Days like today, I wish I was a business owner that was only money driven and didn’t care about who he hurt along the way. But I’m not. So, I just want people to see, that not every CEO out there is cold-hearted and doesn’t care when he/she have to lay people off.”

Backlash

One of the thousands of comments criticising Braden’s post.

Despite his good intentions, however, thousands of people have flocked to Braden’s LinkedIn account to post negative comments.

These comments include,

“I signed onto this platform to see if this was real or not. I sincerely hope it’s a joke because this is the most cringeworthy thing I’ve seen on here. And that’s saying a lot. Shame on you either way. Do better.”

And,

“So you admit you made a bad decision and now instead of taking responsibility and eating the hit yourself, you’re letting go of workers who put their trust into you then throwing yourself a pity party on LinkedIn expecting sympathy for YOU when YOU have prioritized your own needs over your workers, literally proving your business is NOT a ‘people first’ business.”

And even,

“Fake emotions for likes and exposure. Now I not only think most CEOs are merely cold-hearted but actually full-blown narcissistic psychopaths. Thanks for the eye-opener.”

Braden’s Response To Critics

Not only has Braden Wallake responded to the majority of comments received on his post, but he posted a separate one to further explain why he chose to upload an image of himself crying. In this follow-up post, he said,

“My intent was not to make it about me or victimise myself. I am sorry it came across that way. It was not my place to out the employees’ names publicly.”

“What I want to do now, is try to make better of this situation and start a thread for people looking for work. Here it is – comment way. This is for YOU to start a new future. To highlight YOU.”

Have the laid-off employees said anything?

Yes. Noah Smith, one of the employees Braden had to lay off from HyperSocial – and who still has HyperSocial branding on his LinkedIn profile – has also taken to the online business social platform to offer his thoughts on the whole ordeal.

He came to Braden’s defence, saying,

“Right now I’m ‘The guy who was let go by the crying CEO on LinkedIn’. After reading [Braden’s] post, my first thought was just: yep, there goes Braden, being way too honest on LinkedIn again and putting his heart on the line.”

“Now I feel a mixture of sadness and excitement. I’m sad that making yourself vulnerable online makes you the target of people who feel like attacking someone.”

And, in response to him receiving numerous messages and job offers from other companies, Noah added,

“To those who would like to hire me, I’m only interested in working for people like Braden Wallake, who has a positive outlook on life. I’m not interested in working for you if you think working more hours ONLY to make more money is the most valuable way to spend your time.”

Noah, too, received comments still criticising Braden’s actions, calling him out for delegating the laying off of Noah to other staff members. Noah responded by saying, “Just to put this out there, if you understood the relationship between myself, Emily, Braden and the rest of the team, You’d understand that the way it was handled was fine by me.”

Reactions elsewhere on the internet

It’s not just those who use LinkedIn who have been talking about Braden’s post, but it has spread to other social platforms such as Twitter where ‘crying CEO’ is now a trending topic.

Once again, the vast majority of tweets take a dig at Braden for what he did.

Crying CEO Guy Memes

And it’s not just comments that have been made in response to Braden’s post, either. Countless users of social media have already begun posting images of themselves crying, most likely mocking Braden’s post.

One LinkedIn user going by the name Drew M. posted an image of himself crying, not because he laid off staff, but because “Taco Tuesday was a bad idea.”

Are Men Not Allowed To Cry?

Of course, there is a bigger picture to be taken into account here. Braden has received thousands of messages of negativity, yet he has done something that many would also consider to be incredibly vulnerable, and that is, as a man, showing himself crying.

It’s no secret that men – despite greater mental health awareness and being encouraged to speak up – are still subject to the stigma that they should be ‘tough’ and not show emotion.

RELATED: Viking Mentality We Shouldn’t Be So Quick To Dismiss

There were comments of support on Braden’s original post, which include,

“Sounds like whatever we do, our actions are subjected to the internet’s judgment one way or the other. Can’t please everyone it seems. The vitriol was unnecessary.”

“Can’t we practice a little more kindness and empathy in a place like LinkedIn? Just asking for kindness is all. Things don’t need to be right or wrong for us to show kindness.”

And,

“A few weeks ago, I saw a selfie of a woman who was crying and sharing her sadness because she was a victim of layoffs. I haven’t seen any single comment blaming her for taking a crying selfie instead of mourning in grief.”

“I haven’t met Braden in person but after checking his previous posts, I saw how he supported and empowered his team and shared posts on his failures as well, so gives me a positive impression about him.”

And even,

“I hate to jump into this mess, but all the negativity towards someone who clearly had a difficult decision to make is unbelievable. I’ve been a small business owner my entire career. I’ve had to make these difficult decisions. It’s not easy.”

“Compassion for everyone involved is always a better way than negativity! Braden Wallake I commend your authenticity. We need more of that. Surround yourself with positive people and delete all the haters.”
