The footballing world is full of personalities, and one of its most enigmatic is Sergio Ramos.
The Real Madrid and Spanish national football team captain’s unmatched aggression on the pitch is contrasted by his subtle nature off it. A family man who’d much rather spend time relaxing with his loved ones and his horses in the Andalusian countryside than courting paparazzi on the streets of some European celebrity hotspot, Ramos is an old-school kind of footballer.
Maybe it’s unsurprising, then, that Ramos would eschew the flashy timepiece trends chased by other top soccer players and walk into one of La Liga’s spiciest games with a classy, old-fashioned sort of watch.
Over the weekend, Real Madrid narrowly defeated Athletic Bilbao 1-0, the winning penalty nailed by Ramos himself. Real Madrid v Athletic Bilbao is one of the toughest rivalries in La Liga, the bitterly-fought matches a reflection of (one of many) regional rivalries in Spain.
View this post on Instagram
Walking into Bilbao’s San Mamés Stadium before Sunday’s game, Ramos was spotted wearing a 10,800 AUD / 7,500 USD Rolex Oyster Perpetual DateJust 41 – an impeccable choice in timepiece.
The DateJust is a storied model that’s been worn by a who’s who of sports heroes, political leaders and celebrities. Roger Federer, Paul Newman, Dr Martin Luther King Jr., Michael Jordan, Winston Churchill, Harrison Ford, even the Dalai Lama… The list goes on.

The 41 is the largest size the DateJust is available in, and Ramos’ model in corrosion-resistant Oystersteel features a smooth bezel and beautiful dark rhodium dial with a sunray finish. It’s a timeless and endlessly versatile look that’ll look just as great with a suit as it does with his pre-match activewear.
Classy move, Ramos.

There’s a lot you can do with $28 million. From mega-yachts to sleek mansions to luxe round the world trips, it’s hard to decide what you would do if that much cash magically appeared in your bank account.
For one Qatar Airways passenger (and Australian Frequent Flyer forum moderator), however, that bizarre hypothetical recently became a reality.
As Australian Frequent Flyer reports, “A… forum moderator got the shock of her life recently when she discovered that her available credit card balance was suddenly over $28 million. The reason? She’d just received a refund for a Qatar Airways flight!”
“JessicaTam had booked return Qatar Airways Business class flights from Jakarta to London. But like most flights at the moment, they were unfortunately cancelled due to COVID-19 and a refund was processed,” Australian Frequent Flyer reports.
So far so normal.
“JessicaTam posted on Australian Frequent Flyer: ‘Hmmm. I notice that today my QR refund has come through to my credit card.'”
“My account is now showing as $28,179,789 available balance. (The refund was less than $3000.)”
“Can anyone suggest a small country I should purchase?”
While countries may not be up for grabs, there are more than a few private islands she could have potentially – temporarily – put down a deposit for.
View this post on Instagram
The windfall, however, was not to last, with AFF reporting: “Somehow, somewhere along the way, it looks like the refund was quoted in Australian Dollars – but for the amount in Indonesian Rupiah (a costly mistake, given 1 Australian dollar is worth almost 10,000 rupiah!).”
“Fortunately (for Qatar Airways), either the airline or the bank corrected the error the following day!”
“This may seem like a bizarre amount of money to refund when the ticket only cost around $2,800. But the amount wasn’t quite a coincidence. As the first flight on this ticket departed from Indonesia, the fare was originally paid in Indonesian Rupiah. The total airfare, converted into Indonesian Rupiah, was IDR28,179,000.”
“Sad news everyone. My bank has decided to take close on 30 million dollars from my account.”
More than just a funny story though, this reflects a broader ‘mistake fare’ issue in the industry: currency conversion errors are actually a frequent cause of mistake fares, which can lead to everything from ridiculously cheap flights being sold by accident on Skyscanner to incidents like the one discussed above (though usually, the margins aren’t so huge).
View this post on Instagram
Other sources of error fares, AFF reports, include: typos, fuel surcharges being erroneously removed and airfares being filed for the wrong class of travel (which happened recently with Cathay Pacific, with $2,000 first-class flights accidentally being sold).
Sometimes airlines honour these, other times they don’t. But you can be sure if they stand to lose AU$28 million, the odds are not in your favour.
Update: Qatar Airways released a statement on the 7th of July, which clarifies the situation and reads as follows:
“Qatar Airways is aware of a story regarding the overpayment of a refund. The airline processed the refund correctly and was not involved in the transaction between the bank and the passenger. We are glad to learn that the matter was swiftly corrected.”

Your nutrition has a massive effect on your athletic performance and your aesthetics. Coming from a background of competitive gymnastics, soccer, bodybuilding and a Former Special Forces Soldier, I am well aware of how inadequate calories and nutrients can impair even the most conditioned athlete both physically and mentally.
To be a Special Forces Soldier you have to have the highest level of fitness and a tough mindset.
To be a Special Forces Soldier you have to have the highest level of fitness and a tough mindset. You are constantly exposed to sleep deprivation, food deprivation, and many physical challenges throughout the selection process, in which you learn a lot about your body and the way it survives under stress and the changes that will incur without enough sleep, food and recovery.
For me nutrition has always been about performance, with aesthetics as an added by-product. It’s good to use this to set your mind on food as fuel rather than just for fat loss or muscle gain.
Every body type is different so it’s not a one size fits all for nutrition, you need to work out what best suits your body type and training styles, and the best way to do this is to get a professional coach, customised training and nutrition plan.
I live off a diet of high fats and minimal carbs – yes I said it, minimal carbs – and I maintain a low body fat percentage and a stack of muscle. And here’s exactly how it’s done.

Any story about the DeLorean DMC-12 inevitably includes a reference to the cult 80s film series Back To The Future. We wouldn’t dare be so reductive, so instead let’s dedicate some more time to exploring the tragic hero that was John DeLorean, and his ill-fated sports car, the DMC-12.
A talented automotive executive who had worked for Packard, Chrysler and General Motors, John DeLorean was an Elon Musk of his day – a talented engineer and businessman known for his savvy business skills as well as his high-profile celebrity antics. Before leaving GM to found his own car company, DeLorean was most famous as the developer of the iconic Pontiac GTO muscle car.
The DMC-12, the DeLorean Motor Company’s only car, was one of the worst comedy of errors ever seen in the auto industry. It’s the stuff of legends – sh*tty build quality, awful performance, an outrageous price in the middle of a recession, and John DeLorean himself getting caught up in an FBI entrapment sting – the distinctive but flawed DeLorean is an automotive icon.
If you want to get your hands on one of these timeless pieces of automotive history, there’s one mint example listed on CarSales for $88,000 (a highly appropriate price tag).

The owner can describe this beauty better than I can:
“My 1981 DeLorean DMC-12 is unforgettable… serviced on a consistent basis… this vehicle was imported 3 years ago from the US and was previously owned by the WWE wrestler Sheamus.”
“Car has had a Stage 2 engine and exhaust upgrade from DMC in Texas. Car also has original sales receipt, books, workshop manuals, and electrical diagrams. Travelled 34000 km. It is in such fantastic condition, you would mistake it for a new car. All major services have been completed. Always kept in the garage, safe and sound. An accident free car.”
“DMC in Texas? But I thought the company went bankrupt in the 80s,” we can hear you saying.
For those of you who don’t know, there’s a successor company that’s still around today. A British car mechanic and DeLorean fan bought the DMC trademark and the remaining parts inventory of the original DeLorean Motor Company and founded a company in Texas which now rebuilds DMC-12s using a combination of ‘new old stock’ and reproduction parts.

While this DeLorean’s still running an original PRV engine, the fettling it received in Texas is likely to have elevated it significantly. One of the biggest criticisms of the original DMC-12 was its powerplant, which only put out a paltry 130hp (97 kW). The fact this one’s had some performance tweaks will undoubtedly make this a far better machine to drive.
Otherwise, this vehicle’s in remarkably original condition. 34,000kms on the clock is ludicrous, too. The interior looks great and the exterior… Well, it’s still jaw-dropping. One of the most unique features of the DeLorean is its unpainted aluminium body panels, as well as its theatrical gull-wing doors.
John DeLorean himself was a tall man, standing at 6′ 4″ (1.93 m). He designed the DMC-12 with gull-wing doors primarily for dramatic effect, but also to make ingress and egress as easy as possible for tall motorists. Gull-wing doors also make it easy to get in or out in tight car spaces (although we’re sure more than a few drivers have accidentally hit low ceilings with them, too).

In all seriousness, these things are incredibly rare, particularly in Australia. We wager that a DMC-12 would make a fantastic investment… Or daily driver, if you’re bold enough.
On sale in Kurrajong, NSW (75km outside of Sydney), this time traveller can be found on Carsales.

When you come at the king, you’d better not miss. Unfortunately, when it comes to beards, we don’t have the luxury of training our trigger fingers. You either grow hair or you don’t.
The solution? Wait a few years, keep shaving; keep at it. A mantra I’ve repeated since I was 20 (to about as much success as a marriage between an influencer and an introvert). Then, two years ago, it happened: hair grew on my face.
Just like that Chris Hemsworth’s designer stubble was on the table (if not evenly over my cheeks).
However, out of habit, workplace culture, and an insecurity about it not growing in patches, I continued whipping out the razor once a week.
That was until The Bat Kiss swept the globe, leaving the bulk of Australian office workers tucked away at home, fearing the midas touch. Relationships grew (and failed), family ties were strengthened (and tested), and we adjusted to ‘the new normal.’
But that all pales to a far more important trend: quarantine beards. All at once, it was acceptable to let your face run ragged.
I duly obliged, with Australian icon Chris Hemsworth’s lockdown beard as my inspiration (and, if Instagram is anything to go by, half of Australia’s budding f**kbois). Having previously attempted to mimic his haircut (and failed miserably) this was my chance at redemption.
As you might guess, I turned out looking more ‘rejected ISIS fighter’ than ‘Byron millionaire’ (or international filmstar). Here’s how it went down – and everything I learned along the way.

Growing a beard is itchy
After three weeks I was tempted to call it quits. But in the name of journalism laziness I persevered.
RELATED: How To Grow A Beard
Not shaving saves you plug-loads of time
Self-explanatory.
Growing a beard is no excuse to give up the grooming fight
If you value your employment opportunities, keep shaving that sh*t under your neck.
Growing a beard makes it more important that you dress nice
Growing a beard makes it more important you dress well. Why? If you’re clean-shaven it adds a certain ‘put together’ look to your casual ‘jeans and tee’ look. However, when you’re rocking a beard (especially as a beginner) if you don’t shower and comb your hair you run the risk of looking like you just came back from a hellish camping trip.
Beards are not a substitute for a personality
Sad reacts only.
Naming it is a slippery slope
As Beard Season founder Jimmy Niggles recently told me, giving your beard a moniker “is a slippery slope.”
“I’ve heard of people giving names to their body parts, hands and so forth which can get rather complicated. It’s best to think of your beard as an extension of yourself. Like being able to see your own aura.”
“Look after it. Take pride in it. But don’t talk to it unless it’s long enough to fold sunglasses into it. Only then (and only for surprise facetime calls – to your actual best friend) can a beard be personified.”
Your partner may hate it
Shock, horror: there’s no point growing a ‘f**ckboi beard’ if you’re already in a relationship. In fact, despite my better half’s professed love for the TV show Vikings, her response to my beard was “scratchy” and “ew.”
It will become a subtle psychological tell
Stop stroking the f*cking thing.
Scissors are your friend
Trust me.
Don’t obsess over each hair
We get it: you want to look good. But when you start arriving late to events because you’re in the bathroom obsessively hacking away at stray ends, you might like to question your priorities (or start earlier).

Lewis Hamilton‘s career has been one of the most spectacular in racing history.
He’s a six-time Formula One World Champion (just one less than the GOAT, Schumacher); the record holder for all-time most career points, the all-time most pole positions, the most grand slams in a season and the most points in a season; the youngest F1 champ in history… He’s even got an MBE and holds a honorary Fellowship of the Royal Academy of Engineering.
Credited as repopularising F1 for an entire new global generation, Hamilton has also been a trailblazer in breaking down racial barriers in what’s sometimes considered a stuffy sport, and epitomises the term ‘black brilliance’.
The first and only black driver in F1 history, Hamilton’s been in the news lately for calling out how silent the F1 world’s been in light of the death of George Floyd and the reinvigorated Black Lives Matter movement.
The 35-year-old Mercedes-AMG Petronas racer’s latest piece of wrist candy is another testament to his amazing success, as well as his activism.

On his Instagram story, Hamilton shared a close up of his 1 of 1 ‘blacked out’ IWC Big Pilot Perpetual Calendar – a potent reference to the Black Lives Matter movement.
The Big Pilot is a genuine icon, but the black ceramic case, black dial and bracelet – utilising IWC’s patented Ceratanium compound – gives this beauty a particularly special character. It’s a hard-wearing watch for a thrill-seeking young driver.
Other unique features of this exquisite timepiece include a seven-day power reserve displays for the date, day, month, year in four digits and perpetual moon phase for the Northern and Southern Hemisphere: that way, no matter where Hamilton’s racing, he’ll always have his bearings.

The eponymous perpetual calendar recognizes the different lengths of the months and leap years automatically and requires no correction until 2100, set simply via the crown. The moon phase is even more impressively accurate, only needing to be adjusted by one day only every 577 and a half years.
Hamilton can also be spotted flexing a new pair of Puma 020 Riders sneakers in his Instagram Story (you know, because the priceless watch wasn’t enough).
Hamilton’s success in overcoming prejudice, as well as his dedication to challenging the sacred cows of Formula 1, are truly admirable. There’s no-one more deserving of a brilliant timepiece like this IWC number than him.

There’s privacy then there’s privacy. And it doesn’t come much better than this. A stunning peninsula property with a car showroom, helicopter access and a lavish six-bedroom home just went up for sale in Lake Macquarie, NSW.
The property at 7 Foreshore St in Eraring is expected to see bidding “around the current lakeside record of $4.25 million,” Realestate.com.au reports.
Sitting on 2.73 hectares of private Lake Macquarie waterfront, Mandalay (it has even got a name) is built with every last detail – and more – in mind.
Speaking of ‘more’ – the place features a Mayweather-esque car showroom. In fact, we’d argue it almost puts the 50-0 boxer to shame.
Realestate.com.au calls it “clearly a standout,” with space for 13 vehicles “in a set up that resembles a museum more than a garage.”

There’s also a game’s room with a bar and space for a snooker table, as well as a wine cellar, sauna and a two-bedroom self-contained suite (lucky granny).
The property is owned by a Newcastle businessman and has already seen interest from parties including an international sporting star.
Realestate.com.au reports the property’s agent, Chris Smith of McGrath Toukley has said, “It is completely irreplaceable, there is no other property around the Lake Macquarie waterfront like this.”
“It has nearly 500m of waterfront access and the home is almost half an acre of the highest quality renovation I have seen.”
“The owner commutes to and from the property with his helicopter,” he added.
Other features include a grand main chambre with dual walk-in wardrobe, an ensuite and private balcony, as well as a double stone waterfall bench in the kitchen.

Naturally, there is direct access to lakeside walking trails, fishing spots and water sports, and it’s just 30-minutes via helicopter to Sydney.
The hammer drops on Saturday the 8th of August.
Godspeed, you magnificent bastards.

There’s a lot you can get up to on the back of a jetski. Likewise, infinity plunge pools, hot tubs, mega yachts and private planes have seen their share of ~antics~ over the years.
But that’s old news. What’s new is the Hugh Hefner of the modern era just revealed the answer to Instagram’s most burning question: how often does Dan Bilzerian have sex?
Permanently surrounded by scantily clad ladies, Bilzerian is the archetype we’re told not to aspire to (and yet, perversely, draws more attention than every #wholesome self-help blogger or author out there).
Big surprise.
Whatever your view on him, Dan just took to Instagram to answer a question both haters and fans have been debating for years: how often he actually ‘shuffles linen’ (we don’t mean ironing).
When asked, “how many times you have sex in a week” Dan responded in an Instagram story: “I would say on average, at least two times a day.”
WATCH: Dan Bilzerian Responds To A Fan Question, Asking How Often He Has Sex
“Yep, so at least – minimum – fourteen [times a week].”
If it’s not bullshit, that means Bilzerian gets ‘to it’ 728 times a year.
No wonder he’s had to take a moment to look after his mental health (rich person style); that would take it out of anyone.
However, according to research published by US Today, couples who have sex at least once a week are happier than their less-bedded counterparts. So you would agree Dan must be an incredibly happy human.
RELATED: Dan Bilzerian, Modern Gandhi, Reveals His Secret To A Happy Life
In response to another question (“why are women so crazy about you”) he then admitted you can be as dull as dirt – but have a rad “life set up,” and girls love it.
Interesting.
Perhaps the only thing that will slow him down is a new ‘COVID Contraceptive‘, which, as we reported, is a sure-fire way to kill 99.9% of germs and 100% of lady boners.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Dan and the mammoth task ahead.

Australians are a conservative bunch when it comes to car colours. Perhaps unsurprisingly, white is the most popular, with a whopping 30% of Aussies choosing it as their preferred hue, according to Youi. This can be chalked down to simple economics: normally, the standard or cheapest colour offered by most car marques is white. Plus, it looks good.
Other popular colours include silver, black or grey… Yawn. Blue and red are also popular, but brighter colours like yellow or orange are quite uncommon (unless you’re buying a Lamborghini, at which point it should become mandatory).
According to Drive.com.au, “Green cars are involved in the least amount of accidents nationally and the shade is more popular in Tasmania than any other state with 3.66% compared to the national green average of 2.68%.”
Maybe it’s because blander coloured cars are cheaper to insure. Or maybe Australians are just boring, boring people.
It wasn’t always that way. During the 70s, Australians were much bolder with their colour choices – for example, the wildly popular Holden Sandman came standard in bright oranges or purples. Even economy cars like Holden Geminis, Toyota Corollas, Honda Civics and Ford Escorts were available in all sorts of funky hues.
Whilst many are advocates of a return to more automotive chromatic experimentation, there’s one car colour in particular that deserves more of a comeback: green.
View this post on Instagram
Green looks great on cars, and we just don’t understand why more people choose to be more verdant with their colour selections. Whether it’s neon-bright, a muted pastel or super understated like this Audi RS4’s rare ‘Monterey Green’ paint-job, it just makes sense.
Green has a particularly special relationship with motorsports. Uniquely, dark green has been the international motor racing colour of the United Kingdom for over a hundred years. There’s a story behind this: during the 1903 Gordon Bennett Cup, British drivers painted their cars green as a nod to their Irish hosts, as motorsports were illegal in England.
While the convention of international teams having unique colours has largely vanished, many British automakers offer the colour for their cars – nothing suits a British car better.
View this post on Instagram
That is not to say that only British cars should be green or only a dark shade like BRG. Check out this stunning green LaFerrari, this Golf R Final Edition in effervescent ‘Viper Green’, or this Porsche 911.
View this post on Instagram
It’s also not totally impractical. Green hides grass, dirt and mud stains better than any white paint job can. Unlike black, it’s not going to heat up your car to a million degrees during the Aussie summer. And unlike silver or grey, you’re never going to lose it in a car park (or have someone crash into you because they were lulled to sleep by your dreary f*cking motor).
So go on, go buy a green car. That green Audi RS4 is still for sale, you know…
