Sylvester Stallone Spotted Wearing The Perfect Vintage Rolex For A Film Star
Sylvester Stallone Spotted Wearing The Perfect Vintage Rolex For A Film Star

The Rocky star turned up to the 2022 Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix wearing a particularly appropriate vintage watch.

Sylvester Stallone is one of Hollywood’s biggest (pun entirely intended) watch collectors. He’s best known for his love of Panerais – indeed, his ‘Sly Tech’ Panerai collection was one of the very first celebrity luxury watch collaborations – but the 76-year-old Hollywood legend also has a soft spot for Rolexes.

The Rolex he wore last weekend might be the coolest he’s ever worn, though. Greeting fans ahead of the race to promote his upcoming Paramount+ series, Tulsa King, the Italian Stallion was spotted wearing a vintage Rolex Cosmograph Daytona ‘Paul Newman’ (ref. 6241) – one of the most iconic watches of all time.

It was an especially appropriate choice considering Paul Newman’s love of motorsports – it’s exactly the kind of watch the former film star would have worn to Monza. So for one film star to honour the other in such a way… We appreciate the synchronicity, Sly.

A blanket term for a number of Rolex references made throughout the 60s and 70s with ‘exotic’ dials, the Paul Newman Daytona is easily one of the most iconic watches of all time.

Indeed, the most expensive Rolex of all time (and the third-most expensive watch full stop) was a white dial Paul Newman Daytona actually owned by Paul Newman, which sold at auction for US$17,753,000 back in 2017.

Stallone by all accounts had a rather fun Italian Grand Prix. He was spotted hanging out in the Red Bull garage and even chatted with reigning World Champion Max Verstappen (who went on to win the race) and Sergio Pérez.

‘Do It In Style’: How A Beautiful Pen Makes Life’s Biggest Moments Even More Special
‘Do It In Style’: How A Beautiful Pen Makes Life’s Biggest Moments Even More Special

The following article was produced in partnership with Gregory Jewellers & Montblanc.

Even in our modern, complicated world, there are few things more special or powerful than the simple pen. Writing is at once both a necessity and an art: putting pen to paper isn’t just a way to communicate, but it’s a way of expressing your individuality.

The pen, too, is the channel through which many of life’s most special moments come to fruition. From signing a contract at an exciting new job to writing a birthday card or heartfelt letter, the pen is an essential part of life’s journey.

Yet we’re often guilty of not giving those moments (or indeed, ourselves) the respect; the justice they deserve, by using a substandard pen.

On the other hand, the value of a watch even in this digital age is widely understood. Sure, your phone might be able to tell you the time, but a fine timepiece not only helps you express your individuality but it allows you to have a different, more contemplative experience of time. We should think of pens as lending a similar sort of gravitas to the act of writing.

Montblanc’s latest pen collection, the StarWalker BlackCosmos collection, is particularly special. Inspired by space exploration, these sleek pens feature a unique surface treatment that evokes the compact and rocky surface of terrestrial planets such as Mars, Mercury and Venus. This treatment, which is alluring to look at and sensorial to hold, is complemented by black PVD treatment over each instrument’s metal elements, as well as supple precious black resin elements.

Quite simply, nothing else looks or feels like a Montblanc StarWalker BlackCosmos pen. We mentioned gravitas earlier – well, writing with one of these fine pens inspired by the mystery and elegance of space has plenty of it.

“Watches are very close to my heart but a fine pen represents something different to me.”

Helen Gregory, Co-CEO of Gregory Jewellers

“It represents something intimate. A pen is often the vehicle by which you create or initiate change in your life. You sign a contract, a mortgage, a marriage certificate, a birth certificate with a pen. The pen is so central to you making these pacts or promises. A beautiful pen is such an iconic symbol of milestones for me. I also love the idea that you carry a pen in your pocket and it becomes part of your person.”

DMARGE Founder and Publisher Luc Wiesman puts it this way: “signing a multi-million dollar mortgage or marrying the person of your dreams is a big deal… Signing those documents with a biro is not good enough.”

Just as the advent of quartz timekeeping didn’t kill the watch, the rise of the personal computer hasn’t killed pens. Digital devices are often quite disposable in nature, whereas a pen represents a more lasting, more meaningful method of communication.

“I think in this digital world, where people write less, we truly appreciate penmanship,” Gregory relates.

“I love receiving handwritten notes and invitations, they really do feel like art to me… I find that I am better at communicating with emotion when I hand write. I also love handwriting my desires and hopes for the future… I feel I have a clarity with pen and paper that cannot be replicated with a keyboard.”

And that’s what makes a fine pen – and the writing it can produce – truly special. In our fast-paced world, we often don’t have the chance to slow down and really take things in. Communication has never been easier, but it’s also never been more shallow.

Writing with a fine pen is contemplative and meaningful in a world where too many things are disposable or lack meaning. Not only do they enhance your creativity; give your writing form and purpose, but they signify not only to others but to yourself that you’re appreciating life’s special moments properly. It’s about being authentic and living life well.

In essence, you owe it to yourself, and others, to use a fine pen for life’s biggest moments – and everything in between.

Daniel Craig Will Happily Do Many More ‘Knives Out’ Films
Daniel Craig Will Happily Do Many More ‘Knives Out’ Films

Beloved actor Daniel Craig has seemingly committed to a new franchise after departing the James Bond franchise in 2020 – after 15 years of playing the 007 spy. Now Craig is happy to keep playing Benoit Blanc in the Knives Out films.

Daniel Craig devastated fans when he stepped away from the James Bond franchise in 2020 after No Time To Die’s release. And while it’s been fun speculating who will be the next Bond, it’s been nerve-wracking wondering what Craig will do next.

Of course, die-hard fans will know after No Time To Die, Craig starred on Broadway in Macbeth. He also filmed Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery – the hotly anticipated sequel to Knives Out, that’ll be released later this year in December.

Craig is the only actor from the first Knives Out film to return for the sequel and he will reprise his role as Detective Benoit Blanc. And speaking to Variety, Craig recently admitted he’d love to keep playing Blanc in future Knives Out sequels – as long as Rian Johnson (who wrote and directed both Knives Out and Glass Onion) is involved.

“If he keeps writing them, I’ll keep doing them. That’s what makes it easy then, he’s such a wonderful writer that it’s there on the page for me to do.”

Daniel Craig

WATCH: The trailer for ‘Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery’

A third Knives Out film has already been confirmed to be ‘in the works’ and will likely be released in 2024 but Johnson, during the same interview, revealed he hasn’t written it – yet. Although when he does write it, Johnson wants to make sure he doesn’t try to “top” Knives Out and Glass Onion.

“Part of the fun of these things is the idea that they’re not sequels, they’re completely new books and they’re completely new stories.”

“To me, the idea for the next one – and I’m going to try to stay in this state of mind as I write it – it’s not about trying to top the previous one, it’s about just trying to create something that surprises us and thus, hopefully, will surprise the audience and thus delight the audience.”

Rian Johnson

Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery is set to be released globally on the streaming platform, Netflix on the 22nd of December – and we can’t wait to see Craig perform Blanc’s Southern drawl accent once more…

Australian Plumber Parties Like Scarface After $22 Million Powerball Win
Australian Plumber Parties Like Scarface After $22 Million Powerball Win

A South Australian tradie’s life changed dramatically in 2017, when he won $22 million on MyLotto. The Powerball winner quit his plumbing job, and appears to have got caught up in the wrong crowd. He has now received a suspended sentence of three years and nine months behind bars after drugs and a gun were found at his ‘party house.’

Many people couldn’t think of anything better than winning a metric f**k tonne of cash. But a young tradesman’s hedonistic lifestyle has caught up with him after winning the MyLotto, with police photos of his party house suggesting he was throwing some wild festivities.

The man, who is 27, was sentenced last week to three years and nine months, with a non-parole period of 18-months.

The time behind bars, however, was suspended on a two-year good behaviour bond, with supervision. The man pleaded guilty to supplying MDMA and possessing a firearm without a licence. This came after a police raid on his Adelaide home found 2.26g of cocaine, 27.3g of MDMA and a handgun.

Police photos submitted to court also show nangs, Dare iced coffee, beer bottles and bongs strewn around, and a bowl of white powder in a mostly empty fridge.

Per the Adelaide Advertiser, Adelaide District Court judge Heath Barklay said the man had been “hopelessly drug addicted” and had started hanging out with the wrong crowd.

“You stopped working and over time, you slipped into regular drug use…Because of the money that you had won, there was no motivation on your part to work or do anything other than enjoy yourself.”

Judge Heath Barklay

The judge said the former plumber’s mountains of money had been used to feed the drug habits of those at his house parties. The judge also said one of the man’s “so-called friends” brought an illegal firearm and ammunition to store in the house.

The court was told that many considered the man a “free ride,” and took advantage of his generosity.

According to sentancing submissions, the man’s millions were being managed by his parents in a trust, but the man had used some of his winnings to buy property in South Australia and New Zealand.

The man’s lawyer said that the young tradie had experienced a “wake up call” after realising he could go to jail for his actions.

Yet further evidence, we suppose, that winning the lottery isn’t always the golden goose you might think it is…

Rookie Driver Shows How Physically Hard It Is To Drive In Formula 1
Rookie Driver Shows How Physically Hard It Is To Drive In Formula 1

Dutch driver Nyck de Vries performed astonishingly well upon his Formula 1 debut… But the difficulties he had getting out of his car after the race show how physically fit F1 drivers have to be.

The 27-year-old Dutchman, who found himself filling in for a sick Alex Albon at Williams for the Italian Grand Prix at Monza last weekend, put in an awe-inspiring first F1 drive – outqualifying his teammate Nicholas Latifi and finishing the race in 9th, scoring points on his F1 debut.

That’s no mean feat, especially as he’d only ever driven a Williams car for a single hour earlier in the year, and had barely any F1 car experience on top of that… Which might be a bit embarrassing for Latifi (and even Albon).

Yet it wasn’t all plain sailing for de Vries. After pulling up in parc ferme, the young gun was so exhausted he needed help getting out of his car.

“Can someone help me… I can literally not even lift my arms anymore,” de Vries was caught saying over the radio to his garage. Thankfully, someone did come and help him out. AlphaTauri driver Pierre Gasly even came over to check on him.

WATCH Nyck de Vries after the 2022 Italian Grand Prix below.

Driving an F1 car is physically draining. The insane speed and braking power of F1 cars subject drivers to enormous g-forces – around 5 g while braking, 2 g while accelerating, and between 4 to 6 g while cornering. Drivers can lose as much as 3kg per race, and you need to be incredibly fit to be able to muscle an F1 car around corners and stamp on the brakes.

RELATED: Personal Trainer Explains WTF Is Going On With Max Verstappen’s Latest Workout

It’s no surprise, then, that an F1 rookie like de Vries was so shattered after the race – which makes his performance on debut even more impressive.

De Vries isn’t alone in this regard either. Haas driver Kevin Magnussen, who missed a year of F1 in 2021 only to return to Haas this year, also complained about how sore his neck was after the first race of the year, the Bahrain Grand Prix. It also didn’t hamper his performance, the Dane scoring points upon his F1 return too.

Nyck de Vries rips around Monza at the 2022 Italian Grand Prix.

De Vries has had a particularly wild weekend. He actually took part in first practice with Aston Martin, taking Sebastian Vettel’s seat, before he was whisked out of the Aston garage to fill in for Albon at Williams after the latter developed appendicitis.

That makes him only the second F1 driver to race for two different teams on the same weekend – the other being Austrian driver Harald Ertl in 1978, who failed to either pre-qualify or qualify.

It’s just a shame that de Vries, who won the F2 title in 2019 and the Formula E title in 2020-21, doesn’t already have an F1 seat. Fans were mad that Oscar Piastri had been sitting on the sidelines for 2022 – de Vries has been on the sidelines even longer.

That said, there’s a good chance that de Vries will end up taking Latifi’s seat at Williams next year, especially considering his super performance over the weekend. Fingers crossed this talented young driver gets a chance in F1 soon… Although he might have to hit the gym to build up a bit more upper body strength…

Korean actor Lee Jung-jae became a global sensation after starring as Seong Gi-hun (a.k.a. Player 465) in the critically acclaimed and immensely successful series, Squid Game. Jung-jae even earned a Primetime Emmy nomination for his performance.

While there are only a few days left before this year’s Emmy Awards ceremony takes place, Jung-jae certainly isn’t sitting back and waiting to see whether or not he wins the prestigious award; Deadline’s just reported that Jung-jae has been cast as the male lead in the upcoming Star Wars series, The Acolyte.

Disney and Lucasfilm – the production companies behind the series – describe The Acolyte as “a mystery-thriller that takes viewers into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark-side powers in the final days of the High Republic era”.

Scotty James’ Core Workout Is The Ultimate Test Of Your Abs
Scotty James’ Core Workout Is The Ultimate Test Of Your Abs

Australian snowboarder Scotty James has shown off his incredible core strength with a workout that sees him balancing on an exercise ball whilst holding a weight on one side.

The two-time Olympic medal winner has taken to Instagram to share a workout of seriously brutal proportions. The snowboard halfpipe rider is no stranger to blasting his core muscles, but his latest really does kick things up a notch.

Scotty’s workout (which you can watch below) sees him balancing on an exercise ball whilst passing a kettlebell from side to side. There are few things here that make Scotty’s “balancing drill,” as he puts it, incredibly impressive.

WATCH: Australian snowboarder Scotty James completes a seriously impressive balancing workout

Firstly, by balancing on an exercise ball he immediately reduces his stability. Some gym-goers may use an exercise ball to lay down on to perform a dumbbell chest press or some dumbbell rotations. But with these exercises, you would still have some stability by way of your feet touching the floor. To stand on an exercise ball and maintain your balance, however, is a whole new level of difficulty.

In order to remain standing, Scotty will be having to recruit virtually every muscle in his core, along with his leg muscles and glutes, to make sure his body remains as rigid as possible. Being a world champion snowboarder, he will of course have a better understanding of where his centre of gravity lies compared to the average Joe, but that still wouldn’t make this exercise a walk in the park.

To increase the difficulty, Scotty passes a kettlebell from hand to hand, before moving it around his body. It’s not clear exactly what weight his kettlebell is from the video, but we’d say it’s at least 12kg, if not more.

In moving the kettlebell from hand to hand, Scotty will naturally be placing more weight on one side of his body. So, in order to remain standing on the exercise ball and to keep his torso upright, he’ll have to use his oblique muscles on the opposite side of the body to the one holding the kettlebell.

The around-the-world movement will also want to encourage his body to lean in the direction of the kettlebell. So, again, to remain upright and balanced on the exercise ball, his entire core will need to be engaged to keep it rigid and stable.

Oh, and just to show off, Scotty performs a few squats, without the kettlebell, to finish the workout. We can’t even begin to describe just how difficult this will be. When we say “don’t try this at home”, or at the very least, don’t try this without the guidance of a health and fitness professional, we mean it.

The Coolest Properties You Can Buy In Australia For Under $500k
The Coolest Properties You Can Buy In Australia For Under $500k

Is there a bargain left to be found in the red-hot Australian property market? Can you even buy anything for less than a million dollars? DMARGE hunted down the coolest properties available for under $500k in Australia right now.

Over the past few years, property prices in Australia have gotten pretty outrageous.

First, it was just Sydney where things seemed overheated, but as the pandemic spread across the country into gear, absurd housing prices seemed to spread with it. Even regional Australia wasn’t safe from the speculation bug, with a dilapidated shack in the Blue Mountains fetching over AU$150,000 at auction. Most notably, a shack in Broulee, a remote town on the south coast of NSW, sold for an eye-watering AU$3.25 million, branding it one of the most expensive properties of its kind in the entire world.

To find out whether or not there’s still a bargain to be found, DMARGE went on a hunt to find the coolest properties in Australia that you — if you don’t mind a very long drive — could pick up for under AU$500k.

1 Satelberg St, Morwell Victoria

First on DMARGE’s list of Australia’s coolest properties under AU$500k is this ripper little shack in Morwell, Victoria.

Listed for sale at a very reasonable $300,000, it’s currently one of the cheapest shacks with a full yard in all of Australia, according to realestate.com.au.

At a quick glance, it’s pretty clear that this three-bedroom, one-bathroom shack definitely needs a lick of paint and a host of other renovations. But, with a $300k starting price and a solid-looking structure, it’d be hard to take too much of an issue with that. The home itself sits on a nearly 600m² block and there’s even a covered carport thrown in as well.

The fixer-upper is located in the heart of the rural Gippsland region, in a town called Morwell, which sounds remote but is actually less than 2 hours drive from Melbourne.

5/23 Royal Palm Drive, Warnbro

Second on the list is a smaller property located in the coastal town of Warnbro, which is about an hour south of Perth. According to the online listing, Unit 5 23 Royal Palm Drive comes with three bedrooms, one bathroom and provides real estate investors with a “unique opportunity” to access the growing Perth property market.

To this point, it’s currently being rented out for $320 a week with long-term tenants.

38/11-17 Stanley Street, Townsville City

Number three on this list goes to a very cool apartment in Townsville, Queensland. Decked out with two bedrooms, two bathrooms and access to the complex’s luxury pool facilities, this little unit has a lot to offer.

According to the property listing, offers start from $325,000 and the apartment comes equipped with full air-conditioning (kind of essential in Townsville) and secure underground parking. It’s being marketed as a unique investment opportunity, with the current tenants looking to stay on for as long as possible.

32 Messines St

With offers starting at $300k, 32 Messines St offers up an interesting investment opportunity for those scouring the Queensland real estate market. While the little two-bedroom house may not look like much, it sits on a 835m² block just outside of Toowoomba, just a 2-hour drive from Brisbane.

While it’s currently being rented out for $300 a week on a fixed-term lease until November next year, its managing agent says the land itself, which is zoned as “Low-Medium Density Residential” has plenty of development potential.

15 Pardoe Street, Bucasia, Qld 4750

With an asking price of $375,000, 15 Pardoe St offers a not-so-expensive opportunity for investors looking to nestle in on the coast of Far North Queensland. According to realestate.com.au the three-bedroom property is just minutes away from the beach and a short drive to the local shops.

It comes with a whopping 4 car spaces, full ducted air conditioning, and a 6.5kW solar system to capitalize on that northern QLD sunshine.

Keep in mind that Bucasia, the suburb this modern brick beauty is located in is a twelve-hour drive from Brisbane and a nine-hour drive from Cairns, making it fairly remote. With that said, if an inexpensive slice of peace and quiet is what you’re after you might not have to look much further than 15 Pardoe Street.
