A’hoy there mateys and welcome to another edition of “What’s Kanye wearing this week?”. The outspoken rapper and self-proclaimed poster boy for God can regularly be seen wearing some head-turning outfits, take his wellington boots and Burberry suit combo from a few weeks ago.
Appearing in a photo posted to the Upscale Hype Instagram account, Yeezus has really outdone himself, looking more trawler than brawler, with an outfit that wouldn’t look too out of place on the High Seas.
Snapped alongside fellow rapper Sheck Wes, West can be seen teaming a blue long sleeve sweater and cream puffer gilet together with some loose fit khaki pants and another pair of wellington boots – the Stronger rapper clearly frequently finds himself in wet conditions.
While that may be enough to take in as it is, he tops off his Moby Dick outfit with a balaclava and some motocross bike gloves.
https://www.instagram.com/p/B5OlvDsAHpk/
The exact make of his outfit is unknown, but – Kanye being Kanye – you can be sure it ain’t cheap. Even that wasn’t enough to save Kanye though from the Upscale Hype comments section though.
While his fashion choices often divide opinion, the comments for his latest are far more negative than positive. One user said of Kanye’s outfit: “Kanye out here lookin [sic] like a Fortnite character.”, while another thought they were a bit late with their fancy dress: “I honestly thought they were dressed for Halloween, but what do I know.”
There appears to be far greater support for Sheck’s outfit, although one user thought he looks like he should be gutting the fish that Kanye catches.
In any case, the internet (us included) has fallen hook, line and sinker for Kanye’s latest attempt to draw attention to himself.
Well played, Captain Kanye. Well played indeed.

There are a lot of watches out there that are designed by great designers, but what about watches designed by a man of great style. Recently, Serica partnered with a Mr Matt Hranek to design a watch that is perfect for the modern, rakish gent. If you haven’t heard of Mr Hranek, he’s well worth looking into. He’s the publisher of ‘A Man and His Watch‘ one of the all-time greatest coffee table books, the men’s style editor at Condé Nast Traveler magazine and the creator of the WM Brown magazine. Ultimately he’s a man that knows the ins and outs of men’s style as we know it today and has a great appreciation for timeless design, quality and character.
The child of this great collaboration is the W.W.W. WMB Edition, a watch that is perfect for any man who can appreciate quality, functionality and detail. W.W.W. was an acronym originally given to watches designed for the British Armed Forces in 1945 and stands for Wrist. Watch. Waterproof. You might be forgiven for thinking that a watch is merely a tool designed to tell the time, but a closer inspection of the intricate details reveals an appreciation for heritage, functionality and timeless design. The details of note include a gorgeous blue and black dial, broad arrow hands, Superluminova for nighttime visibility, a leather NATO strap, 12 and 24-hour markers. Constructed from stainless steel and powered by a Swiss automatic movement, the W.W.W. will stand the test of time aesthetically and mechanically.
If your lover of quality products, timeless design and detail, you really can’t look past Serica’s W.W.W. WMB Edition. Priced at $540, its a bargain for a seemingly simple watch that is representative of much, much more.

Men across Australia consistently strive to be the picture of health – at least from this writer’s perspective – but there’s one embarrassing body type that can affect even the fittest of men. We’re talking mum bums.
Traditionally used to refer to a woman’s neglected post-birth posterior, the mum bum can now be seen sagging in wake of new parents on every end of the XY spectrum.
And it’s not just parents, hordes of single guys who don’t find time for the gym (or do the wrong exercises once they get there) are a walking cellulite explosion waiting to happen.
We spoke to Fitness First Bondi Platinum personal trainer Liam Chenery to find out the best ways men can combat mum bum and get themselves a peach of a rear-end.
View this post on Instagram
He starts by saying there aren’t any exercises specific to men or women when it comes to training the glute muscles. His go-to moves in the gym include deadlifts – so often regarded as the king of all weight training exercises – squats, hip thrusts, variations of the lunge movement and back extensions.
View this post on Instagram
Another word of warning: some guys may think if they’ve been given the unwanted gift of a large bum, then building up another area of the body to compensate is the way to go. Liam says it’s not wise to do this. He says “if a certain body area is ‘lagging’, then simply spend more time training this area.” Think 2-3 times a week as opposed to just once.
With gym training in full swing, you may be wondering how best to handle the nutritional side of getting your body into the shape you desire. Liam says with regards to this there are “no specific foods or drinks you should be consuming, just make sure you’re checking your calorie intake vs the calories you burn during training sessions.” He dispels the idea of a ‘healthy weight’ too, as depending on what measurement scale you use, you could be regarded as overweight.
View this post on Instagram
He says of himself, “I have abs, but for my height/weight I am overweight/obese according to some measurements.” So don’t be put off if the scales aren’t telling you what you want to hear.
A lot of guys who believe they have body defects may think there’s nothing that can be done about them. Liam says pish to this way of thinking. However, he says he’s “always open and honest with [his] clients.” If they have unrealistic goals, such as wanting to lose body fat in a certain area, he’ll tell them it’s unlikely to be achievable. “Of course, every client is different so many variables come into play.” Ultimately, if you want to change something about your body, go out and do it.
So guys, if you’ve been dealt an unsightly rear end, stop sitting on it, get up, and start training.

You get home from an eye-popping day at work and your husband is reclined on the sofa slurping beer. You go out for dinner and your wife demands the establishment’s finest Chianti. You head down the local cafe and by the time you get back your de-facto partner has splurged this month’s budget on a trip to the Himalayas.
Money is a tricky topic in any relationship. But it might not have to be this way. Recent research by Joanna Syrda, a professor of Lecturer in Business Economics at the University of Bath suggests there may be a financial sweetspot that allows both individuals in a relationship to achieve ultimate fiscal satisfaction.
Writing about her findings for The Conversation, Joanna reveals how – in heterosexual couples – individual earning percentages can have interesting effects on marital bliss (or the lack thereof).
“My research shows that in, heterosexual couples, men are happier when both partners contribute financially – but much prefer to be the main breadwinners.”
“With stress levels high when they are sole breadwinners, men appear to be more relaxed when their wives or partners earn anything up to 40% of the household income,” Joanna continued.
However, this also doesn’t mean you should wrap yourself up in a doona and find yourself a sugar momma; “distress levels increase sharply as their spouse’s wages rise beyond that [40%] point. And they [men] find it most stressful when they are entirely economically dependent on their partners.”
Sorry.
These findings come from an analysis of over 6,000 married or cohabiting heterosexual couples over a period of 15 years, with “distress” calculated by feelings of sadness, nervousness, restlessness, hopelessness, worthlessness, or the notion that “day to day life is an effort.”
In other words: if your relationship feels like one giant Monday, you might have some earnings (or self-esteem) issues.
Another interesting finding was that men who are the sole breadwinners are relatively unhappy, but still not as stressed as men whose partners are the principal earners. There was one notable exception to this, this being men who knowingly partner with a high-earning woman.
“These men do not appear to suffer from higher psychological distress when their partners earn more. People do not pick their partners at random, so if the woman was the higher earner before marriage, then the potential income gap was already clear to the man – perhaps even a reason to partner with them,” Joanna wrote in The Conversation.
Why? Joanna says “when one person in a couple earns a much greater proportion of the joint income, it may create a relationship imbalance.”
“For example, if the relationship deteriorates significantly, the possibility of divorce or separation can make the lower earner feel more vulnerable, financially speaking.”
Not just that, but even if breaking up is not on the cards, money that comes into the household predominantly through one partner also affects the balance of power.
According to Joanna, “This is important if partners have a different view on what is best for their family, how much to save, what to spend their money on, and various plans and big decisions.”
Also noteworthy is that traditional gender identity norms can conspire to heighten this phenomenon of insecurity. As Joanna puts it: “For generations, in many cultures, there has been an expectation that men will be the primary income provider in the family, and masculinity is highly linked to fulfilling this expectation.”
So, when faced with a change in this outcome by being outearned by their partners, men are likely to experience “high levels of psychological distress.”
It looks like they’re going to have to adapt though, as women are fast catching up to men. To put this into perspective, Joanna says, “In places like the US… in 1980, only 13% of married women earned about as much or more than their husbands. In 2000, that figure almost doubled to 25%, and in 2017 it was 31%.”
“This trend is likely to continue into the future and similar patterns have been observed in other countries.”
Things aren’t too rosy for those in ‘traditional’ relationships though either, with sole breadwinners tending to exhibit significant anxiety and stress.
The solution? Stick to the magic 60/40 ratio, or get with the times (and get your head around) the 50/50 ratio which really – in 2019 – shouldn’t be so hard…

The sports nutrition market is one of the largest in the health and fitness industry. It was valued at US$50.84 billion in 2018 and is expected to rise to US$81.5 billion by 2023. Protein shakes are one of the biggest contributors to that value and it’s easy to see why. Designed to aid your fitness goals, protein shakes provide a convenient way to get the supplements your body needs to build muscle.
But are they the last word in fitness or can you still reach your goals without buying into a crowded market?
Fitness expert Max Lugavere has whey-ed in on the argument to dispel any myths surrounding protein shakes and tell us once and for all if they’re worth investing in. In a recent Instagram post, the nutritionist is quick to say that “not everyone needs protein shakes”. He admits their main benefit is convenience but adds that they genuinely are “a low-calorie way of upping your protein intake”.
While we’re all told protein = muscle, Max goes a bit deeper, explaining that protein is “satiating, and it helps build and maintain muscle mass.”
“It provides pre-cursor molecules for detox compounds your body makes like glutathione.” Time for a quick biology lesson. Glutathione is an antioxidant found in every cell in the body that helps support your immune system, makes DNA and helps the liver and gallbladder deal with fats. It’s pretty important.
View this post on Instagram
Max says that if you strength train, then as a general rule you should be consuming 0.7 grams of protein per pound of lean bodyweight. This isn’t just a figure he’s plucked out of thin air, but rather the optimal dose studies have found maximizes your efforts in the gym. As a simple way of calculating how much protein is right for you, Max says “if you’re relatively lean, use your weight. If you aren’t, use your goal weight.”
But does that protein have to come from shakes? According to Max, not necessarily: “If you can achieve this daily intake with food, then, by all means, do it! There’s really no evidence that protein shakes are superior to real food protein.”
However, he goes on to say that there are differences between whey and veggie protein powders and this is where the argument of food vs. powder can become a little blurred.
If you can’t have dairy products, then you should use whey protein isolate as it “has virtually no lactose or casein”. Whey protein meanwhile is Max’s go-to choice as it is a “much cleaner option, FAR less processed and is very effective thanks to having an abundance of BCAAs, which are important for muscle building/maintenance.”
Veggie proteins can contain heavy metals, and powders made with rice protein can even contain trace quantities of arsenic.
If you decide that protein powders are for you, then you don’t need to buy into the expensive, grass-fed options (if all you care about is your health, anyway). Max says the only real difference between the two is the grass-fed option is “more likely supportive of a humane and sustainable farming system.”
The main thing to steer clear of when buying a powder, according to Max, is to make sure it’s “free of junk sweeteners like Sucralose or sweetened with stevia.”
So, by all means, grab yourself a shaker and join the rest of the gym junkie clique, just make sure the powder you buy is of good quality.

Looking for the best men’s puffer jackets to keep you warm in winter? You’ve come to the right place.
When it’s sub-zero outside – on those cold winter days that make you feel like you’re limbs are literally going to freeze solid and snap off – it’s at this very moment that we say – thank you, Mr Eddie Bauer, for creating the men’s puffer jacket! You’re a bloody legend.
Yes, it was the famous American outerwear brand that first designed the men’s puffer jacket, using duck down and quilted fabrics after he nearly froze to death on a fishing excursion. And the fact that this was all the way back in the 1930s proves what a highly practical and timeless piece it has remained since.
There have obviously been a few modern variations over the years but the concept pretty much remains the same. The key is understanding where you want to wear it, and what for.
In this story…
What Is The Best Puffer Jacket Insulation?
Down Puffer Jacket Insulation
First, there are a few things you’ll want to consider, such as how your puffer’s insulation performs in the conditions you’re going to use it in. If you’re buying goose or duck down, then be aware that moisture such as rain and snow can quickly turn you into a shivering wreck without the right exterior shell – so water resistance is really important.
Synthetic Puffer Jacket Insulation
If you’re using your jacket to explore the great outdoors, synthetic insulation offers great movement, warmth and breathability on climbs, slopes or altitude treks. It’s also a great insulating material for transitions in varying conditions and generally easier to store. Synthetic is less green in an ever more eco-conscious world, however, strides have been made to change this recently, and you can even buy synthetic-down hybrids.
Hooded Puffer Jacket
There are also other things to think of, such as do you need a hood to protect yourself from winds? Do you need a hip cut to free up leg movement or something longer if you plan to be less mobile?
Whether you’re out for a statement winter piece or something for your next mountain adventure – here we’ll help you find the perfect puffer to keep you snug and stylish throughout the cold season.

Tom Brady, winner of virtually every award in NFL history, doesn’t just make touchdowns on the field but he regularly brings his A-game when it comes to style, too.
Taking some time off before his next game against the Dallas Cowboys, the New England Patriots’ Quarterback shows us all how to rock cold-weather casual style thanks to his Canada Goose Macculloch parka. The Canadian outerwear company makes some of the finest and warmest jackets on the market and has quickly cemented itself as a winter wardrobe essential.
https://www.instagram.com/p/B5DW5BzATck/
While they don’t come cheap (Brady’s jacket will set you back US$1,195), the camo design does provide the perfect stand-out pattern against a simple casual outfit of dark jeans and a sweater.
Oh and it’s not just his duvet-like jacket that has us green with envy. If you direct your gaze to his wrist you’ll see he’s wearing an IWC Big Pilot’s Watch Spitfire.
The man with more passing yards than any other player in NFL history is sponsored by the German watchmaker, but we hope his deal doesn’t include a clause requiring him to wear one during the game – unlike Odell Beckham Jr. who happily wears Richard Mille watches wherever he damn well pleases.
If two product placements weren’t enough, Brady tops off his ‘sponsored post’ outfit with a pair of Beats by Dre Studio 3 Wireless headphones.
We wonder if the “Focus” caption refers to him focusing on his bank account after this image went live.

If you’ve ever been to a festival, you’ll be familiar with how rapidly the ground on which you stand changes from ‘grass’ to something closer to a swamp. The worst part about this? Your shoes are toast. A smart festival-goer will know this and will make a decision between sacrificing a nice pair of sneaks in the pursuit of momentary style or wearing an old, decrepit pair that they’re happy to ruin. Either way, it’s a lose-lose scenario. The solution? Gumboots.
You might be surprised to hear it, but gumboots can be pretty cool and the CAT Storners might be some of the coolest around. All festival analogies aside, gumboots are a great practical addition to your wardrobe for when the weather turns south and can be used as a snow boot for between the car and the slopes, for walking in the rain or as previously mentioned – festivals. They’re ideal for any scenario where you’d rather not ruin your crisp white sneakers.
Available in a bright yellow, olive or black with the option of three different heights, CAT’s Stormer boots are surprisingly stylish. With the option of a steel-capped toe, they’re also ideal for damp days on any building site. In addition to footwear, CAT or Caterpillar builds excavators so they know a thing or two about durability and their vulcanised rubber outer layer will keep you dry whilst the padded inner layer will keep you comfortable. You’ll also get great traction in all conditions thanks to a stabilising outer sole. Priced at $125 for the 11″ model with a soft toe, you really can’t go wrong, especially when they’ll last you a lifetime.

Naomi Campbell set the bar high for kinky pre-flight rituals back in July, but Chris Hemsworth has today topped it. How so? Well, while fashion icon Naomi attacked her first-class suite with sanitising wipes, fitness icon Hemsworth just shared a video to Instagram of a bizarre solution to an even weirder business-class concern: dehydrated ears.
View this post on Instagram
That solution is face moisturiser, which Chris’ mate (and assistant) Aaron Grist smears around Chris’ Qantas headphones without Chris realising it, all under the watchful instruction of another of Chris’ mates (and now his PT) Luke Zocchi, presumably on their way back to Byron Bay after surfing the new wave pool in Melbourne.
“Moisturising the old ear. Ohhh rub it in. And then put ’em together so he can’t see it. Done.”
Cut ahead five minutes, and Chris is filmed looking gormlessly looking at his screen, moisturiser spiked headphones on, oblivious to the dots of white cream rolling down his cheeks.
“What? Did you spray me? Aw f*ckin hell.”
The realisation is complete.
“Dickhead.”
It’s all in good humour though, with Chris’ Instagram caption proving you can never stay mad at mates for long.
“One of the most common side effects of frequent air travel is dehydrated ears. Thanks @azzagrist @zocobodypro for always having my back…. and my ears.”
It also helps if you’ve known each other since primary school, which these three have, with Zocchi formerly working as an electrician and Aaron once working as a glazier before they reunited with the mission of keeping Thor down to earth (a mission they seem to have accomplished with panache).
Who needs waves when you’ve got ear moisturiser?
