Apple launched its newest models to much fanfare in September this year including for the first time ever an iPhone with a Pro designation. The new phones promised all the things that users expect from Apple, with the biggest intrigue being made around the new camera configuration.
Now though Apple has released an official warning which will impact the millions of users that have already upgraded to the iPhone 11, 11 Pro and Pro Max. The new warning will be issued to any user who does not use a certified Apple technician to repair or replace a damaged display. So far nothing too new; users have known for years that using a third-party to fix an iPhone voids the warranty. However now Apple will pin the warning to your screen that reads “Important Display Message. Unable to verify this iPhone has a genuine Apple display. Learn more.” for the first four days following the repair.
It seems that Apple is genuinely trying to protect its customers as Apple stated that using a nongenuine display may cause compatibility or performance issues. Where it becomes a bit dicey is in the specific wording of the warning, which says “Only technicians who have completed Apple service training and who use Apple genuine parts and tools should replace iPhone displays.” So you could get a genuine Apple display from your repairer but if they didn’t buy their tools from Apple then you will receive the warning message.

Apple is not known for its cheap accessories and its tools are no different and are significantly more expensive than third-party ones. This pushes costs up for repairers which get passed on to consumers and this is part of a wider Apple trend to bring all repairs in house. Repairer iFixit recently called Apple ‘user-hostile’ after a series of changes Apple made that resulted in third-party repairers being unable to do their jobs. iFixit uses genuine Apple parts and said that the company can’t claim using third-party components compromise the iPhone functionality when the genuine parts also have the same problem.
So it seems that Apple wants to control the entire repair process, something that ultimately will end up costing the consumer upwards of $200 for a display repair. Apple fanboys will not be phased by the news but mainstream users who looked towards third parties for repairs may be concerned by the latest news. Regardless the warnings are now live, so buy a screen protector to not be caught out by the new warning.
Still not convinced? Here’s how to fix your own iPhone screen.

Whether your headboard won’t stop banging or whether your springs haven’t creaked in months we all reach a point in our relationship where cheating becomes an option. That’s not to say it’s an option you should take, but that it is a temptation you or your partner will likely be faced with.
For this reason, ‘cheating’ is one of the most exhausted topics (and rom-com storylines) around, with innumerable articles dedicated to the most common signs for it, how to recover from it, why you should or shouldn’t forgive your partner for it, etc.
And while it may be quite obvious your partner is cheating if you walk in on them and your best friend at a party, if you’re beyond your rave phase and both work full time you probably barely have time to notice each other, let alone each other’s paramours.
Enter: Reddit’s r/AskReddit community, a forum dedicated to solving life’s intractable problems, such as “What are some subtle signs of cheating/infidelity that most partners tend to overlook?”
Most interestingly amongst the answers, we thought, was the idea that – contrary to popular belief – getting cheated on doesn’t mean your sex life will necessarily suffer. Or, as one Reddit user puts it, describing a situation where his brother’s wife had an affair: “She felt guilty and thought making him happy with more sex would help cover up her infidelity.”
“He and his wife would have sex 1-2 times a month and it had been that way for several years. Suddenly, out of the blue, they start doing it all the time. My brother is happy, until he later found at that their sex life increased when she started cheating on him.”
This observation is supported by a recent article by women’s website Whimn, which discusses a new study by an Ashley Madison type UK site for married hookups, which found that “far from inhabiting a domestic carnal desert, those being cheated on are actually having regular sex with their partners.”
“When Illicit Encounters… surveyed 1000 of its clients… it found that 64% of participants who were having affairs were still getting nasty with their partners.”
“Of those,” Whimn continued, “40% said the away from home shenanigans increased their sex drive to such a degree that they could service two people simultaneously… Which could well lead their actual partner to believe that things are fine (or better than fine)… given the uptick in sex.”
The conclusion? While classic tip-offs like “getting ready” before running out on small errands, taking a heightened interest in their appearance and not leaving their phone out in the open like they used to are still useful, it’s the more subtle signs that can be the biggest giveaways.

Lost summits. Crunching glaciers. Barren plains. Bolivia’s fault-forged landscape is known for attracting climbers, hikers and mountain bikers more than Pink Flamingo Enthusiasts looking to chill in a giant plunge pool.
That may be set to change.
While tourism numbers languished around 300,000 per year in the early 2000’s recent reports indicate Bolivia now sees around 1,134,000 visitors a year.
While cheap flights and the ‘wanderlust’ hashtag are the chief culprits for this, an iconic photo of a thermal pool on the Bolivian Altiplano – a high-altitude plateau between Bolivia, Chile, and Argentina littered with hot springs, salt lakes, geysers, and volcanoes – reveals there is another significant drawcard.
From, “Incredible: adding to the [bucket] list,” and “Looks like the god damned fountain of youth” the comments rolled in on Type 7’s Instagram page, from virtual-travellers from every corner of the globe.
This plays into a broader trend in the travel industry; non-adventurous people undertaking riskier journeys than they would have attempted in the past, to get the ‘gram.

While it might be a while before the Bolivian Altiplano turns into Bondi Icebergs, we are seeing a definite uptick in tourists lazing about in formerly inhospitable locations (see: ‘Influencers Have Accidentally Been Posing In A Toxic Lake‘ and ‘Chernobyl’s Sexy Selfies‘).

There is no shortage of guidelines that advise you on what to eat, drink, sleep and more. But what if the recommended intake for your meat consumption was wrong? What if the current guidelines on red meat consumption were, in fact, incorrect and you could continue to chow down on your favourite steak? Well according to a new study, you can.
A new study by a panel of experts from around the world has found that current guidelines recommending people reduce meat consumption are flawed as most people can continue to consume red meat at their current consumption levels with no negatives to their health. This is a finding that is contrary to most health guidelines and is because the experts found that the risk reductions were trivial for people who lowered their consumption and any health effects of doing so were uncertain.
Before the comments light up like a Christmas tree it should be noted that the study looked specifically at the health benefits of decreasing meat consumption. The authors of the study did not consider ethical or environmental reasons for abstaining from meat and even noted that these are valid and important concerns.
The research found that asking people to cut meat consumption was not an easy task due to a societal belief that meat was healthy. It also hinted that meat-eaters may not necessarily have the culinary skills to cook without meat and therefore would have a more unhealthy plate as a side effect. Something this author knows from personal experience of trying to cook without meat as the main ingredient.
https://www.instagram.com/p/BxSjX7_gRqB/
Deputy Dean at the University of Adelaide Professor Rachel Ankeny said many Australians would welcome the news given our association of meat with comfort and good diet.
“These recent and perhaps surprising findings are likely to be welcomed by many Australians who might find it difficult to change their consumption behaviours, particularly in relation to meat”
Just last month the Heart Foundation updated its guidelines of what to eat to reduce your risk of heart disease and stroke, and for the first time gave a specific limit on that amount. According to the Foundation, you should not eat any more than three lean meals, totalling 350 grams of unprocessed beef, pork, lamb or veal a week.
The panel of fourteen scientists that conducted the study, however, found that adults could continue to eat at their current levels, which is around four times a week on average or for a total of roughly 500 grams. That 150g could make all the difference between choosing an eye fillet and t-bone steak.
Of course like any study, there are critics of it that disagree with the findings. Some critics point out that processed meats are dangerous due to high levels of sodium, while others disagreed with the study not looking at the environmental and social impacts of meat consumption. However, the authors of the study were very clear that it was looking directly at the health benefits of cutting meat consumption and it found none of significance.
So fire up that BBQ and enjoy some food because it would seem that meat is back on the menu.

Like a 50-year-old man with a Ferrari, Qantas’ mid-aged A380 jets just got a new lease on life. Why should you care? Well, if you like your champagne cold and your business-class lavish you’ll be happy to know the A380 Skybeds are (finally) making way for the Qantas Business Suite.
A more luxurious product which offers enhanced privacy and significantly greater ergonomic comfort, the Qantas Business Suite already exists on the A330 and B787-9 aircraft. This is the first time, however, it has ever appeared on an A380.
Delivering a new level of comfort for customers travelling on the national carrier’s largest aircraft, “The first of Qantas’ upgraded A380s welcomed its first passengers today,” Qantas announced.
The multimillion-dollar upgrade, which includes new seating across expanded Business and Premium Economy cabins (and a refresh of the aircraft’s First and Economy seating and a redesigned onboard lounge) has only been completed on 12 of the A380 aircraft so far, but there are plans to refurbish the remaining 11 by the end of 2020, making your next Los Angeles, Singapore, Dallas Fort Worth, Hong Kong or even London trip that much more enticing.

“Smarter use of space has created an all premium class upper deck (now occupied by Business and Premium Economy) and an expanded on-board lounge,” Qantas said.
“There are now 30 fewer Economy seats and an increase in premium seating by 27 per cent.”
The most important element of the facelift, for Pointy End (or in this case, upper deck) passengers is the introduction of the Qantas Business Suite (replacing the previous Skybeds), which comes in a much-awaited 1:2:1 configuration that gives aisle access to every passenger (and is fast becoming the industry standard).
A larger on-board lounge space with seating for up to 10 Business and First passengers is also worthy of note, as is the update to the 14 First Class Suites which includes new contoured cushioning, seat finishes and a larger, higher resolution entertainment screen.
Also important is the installation of the new Premium Economy seat (first debuted on the Qantas Dreamliner) and increasing the number of these seats from 35 to 60.
Also also: A new colour palette for the Economy cabin and improved inflight entertainment has been introduced.
The first reconfigured aircraft, VH-OQK, will operate as QF2 from London to Sydney via Singapore, arriving in Australia on Wednesday the 2nd of October (tomorrow).
Qantas CEO Alan Joyce said the mid-life upgrade of the A380, despite our aforementioned (mid-life) crisis quip, was all about ensuring the A380’s status as one of the most popular aircraft with customers.
“The A380 is a crucial part of our long-haul fleet and this upgrade program will see customers enjoy everything the aircraft has to offer for years to come,” said Mr Joyce.
“It also provides an increase in Business and Premium Economy seating to help match the demand we’re seeing on our long-haul routes.”
“Working with Airbus, we’ve been able to use the cabin space more efficiently and improve the economics of the aircraft while also providing a better experience in every part of the aircraft,” Mr Joyce continued.
“By the end of this upgrade, we’ll have next-generation seating across our entire long-haul fleet of A380s, A330s and 787s.”
A further two A380 aircraft are expected to undergo refurbishment before the end of 2019 (each aircraft takes approximately eight weeks to upgrade).
A final interesting point? The capacity of Qantas A380s after the upgrade will be: 14 First Suites (unchanged), 70 Business Suites (up by six), 60 Premium Economy (up by 25) and 341 Economy (down by 30) for a total of 485 passengers (up by one).
While Qantas expects to complete the refurbishment of the remaining 11 aircraft by the end of 2020, more details are to be released tomorrow.

You wouldn’t normally think that your skating outfit can fit in at a high-class London affair, would you? But that’s the perks of being one of the most famous celebrity children in the world: you can pull off anything.
Brooklyn Beckham, eldest son of famous British footballer David Beckham, showed us all how to do just that when he appeared at his mother’s store for the Sotheby’s 275th Anniversary afterparty in London last night. While his famous parents both opted for all-black slim outfits, Brooklyn chose to dress down for the evening in a casual Dickies jacket, brown chinos, and black hi-top Converse sneakers.
It was almost identical to the outfit he wore hours earlier at the skate park, which he posted on Instagram. The only difference between the after-party outfit and his skate park attire was his shoes: swapping out Vans for Converse Chuck Taylors, plus sporting black pants at the skatepark but brown ones at Sotheby’s. Maybe he got some ‘battle scars’ on his black pants?

For followers of Brooklyn, the jacket appears to be a favourite of the model, who was snapped wearing the very same piece at an awards show at the beginning of the month. Despite showing off his own unique swagger, the 20-year-old has certainly turned to his stylish father for inspiration. Brooklyn is also a fan of a bit of man jewellery and can be seen wearing a silver bracelet, a couple of rings and even a small black earing. He can often be seen wearing his assortment of bling along with an increasingly tattooed body… He may in fact beat his father’s ink count these days.

Not everyone can pull off the look but it certainly works for the model who has not been the face of Burberry but has recently turned his hand to photography, working with UK publication Man About Town amongst other campaigns. He may not have the famous football feet of his father but Brooklyn is working hard to make sure he is famous for his own sartorial skills.
