Sydney’s ‘North Shore’ Folk Come Under Attack With New Crime Show
Sydney’s ‘North Shore’ Folk Come Under Attack With New Crime Show

A new crime drama mini-series set in Australia has been greenlit by streaming platform Paramount Plus (stylised as Parmount+) and it’s called North Shore

There’s a bit of a stereotype here in Sydney about those who live on the North Shore – which is considered one of the most affluent areas in Australia.

Filled with spoilt brats who attend fancy boarding schools, old people with tiny, fluffy white dogs and young men who exclusively wear polo shirts and RM Williams; to indulge the stereotype a little further, people from the North Shore typically look down their noses on other parts of Sydney because they’re rich and privileged.

But now North Shore folk appear to be getting knocked down a peg (fictionally, anyway). A television series called North Shore has been greenlit by the streaming platform, Paramount+; which, according to Deadline, will be a six-part crime thriller set on and around Sydney Harbour and the North Shore.

North Shore will follow a “clash of cultures” when Australian and British detectives are forced to work together to solve a complex murder mystery. The upcoming mini-series was created by Mike Bullen – the BAFTA winner best known for creating the critically acclaimed British dramedy Cold Feet.

Gregor Jordan, best known for directing the Heath Ledger movies Two Hands and Ned Kelly, will direct North Shore, while Marcia Gardner – who’s written for multiple Australian TV shows like Bali 2002, Sea Patrol, Blue Heelers and All Saints – is set to write.

North Shore will be partly financed by Screen Australia; the federal agency announced the show was one of nine projects that will be financed by $12 million of production funding. Minister for Arts, Tony Burke said of the funding,

“Shining a spotlight on Australian stories is so important, not just for those in the arts sector, but all of us as Australians. These stories contribute to our national identity, and I know these projects will showcase the incredible talent and creativity of our actors, writers, producers, directors and post-production workers – here in Australia and right around the world.”

Tony Burke, Minister for Arts

There’s no word yet on who will star in North Shore and a release date for North Shore hasn’t been announced yet either; watch this space, as we’re sure you’ll want to be warned of when the North Shorians will start complaining about the fact that a mini-series depicting a violent murder was named after their precious home.

Who Is Bradley Cooper?

Bradley Cooper is an American actor and filmmaker who was born on 5 January 1975 in Abington Township, near Philadelphia. His parents are Charles and Gloria Cooper, who worked as a stockbroker for Merrill Lynch and a worker for the local NBC affiliate, respectively.

Bradley has an older sister, Holly.

In his younger years, Bradley Cooper was a rather adept basketball player and even loved to cook, admitting that he used to have his kindergarten classmates come over to his house for him to cook them food. Bradley has also admitted he wanted to move to Japan and become a ninja.

However, his passion for acting also came at a young age after his father showed him the film The Elephant Man, much to his parents displeasure, as they wanted him to pursue a career in finance.

Bradley Cooper attended Germantown Academy, originally known as the Union School – which is the oldest nonsectarian school in the United States – and graduated in 1993. He eventually graduated from Georgetown University in 1997 with a degree in English.

He later pursued a degree in acting and received a Master of Fine Arts degree in 2000, from the Actors Studio Drama School in New York City.

Bradley Cooper Movies

Bradley Cooper made his television debut in a 1999 episode of Sex and the City, and his first film was 2001’s Wet Hot American Summer. He later reprised his role of counsellor Ben in the eventual sequel, Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp in 2015.

He returned to television from 2001 – 2006 for the series Alias but after being asked to be written out of the show, he landed himself a role in the 2005 comedy, Wedding Crashers, opposite Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson.

Other movies starring Bradley Cooper to be released in the early 2000s include Bending All The Rules and I Want to Marry Ryan Banks.

He later appeared in a few more comedic roles before taking on a much darker character for the 2008 movie The Midnight Meat Train.

The Hangover

Bradley Cooper finally hit the big time when he was cast in 2009’s The Hangover as Phil Wenneck. We feel we don’t need to explain just how successful The Hangover was, nor its two sequel movies. For the first movie, Bradley Cooper received an award at the 13th Hollywood Film Festival and was nominated for an MTV Movie Award.

Bradley Cooper went on to appear in a few more comedy movies including Valentine’s Day, before being cast in the lead role in the 2011 techno-thriller Limitless, as a man who takes a nootropic drug that allows him to unlock the full potential of his brain power.

Silver Linings Playbook

2012 was a successful year for Bradley Cooper, particularly for his roles in The Place Beyond The Pines and Silver Linings Playbook, starring opposite Jennifer Lawrence. For this role, Bradley Cooper won the MTV Movie Award for Best Performance and was nominated for his first Academy Award.

Bradley Cooper was praised yet again for his role in the 2013 movie, American Hustle, earning another Academy Award nomination.

Guardians of the Galaxy

In 2014, Bradley Cooper was cast to voice Rocket Racoon in the Marvel Studios movie, Guardians of the Galaxy, which forms part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

More success was to come in 2014 when Bradley Cooper starred in and co-produced the biopic war film American Sniper as the United States Navy SEAL sniper, Chris Kyle. For his role, Bradley Cooper won another MTV Movie Award and was nominated once again for an Academy Award, both as an actor and a producer.

A Star Is Born

Image: ComingSoon.net

In 2018, having voiced Rocket Racoon in two more Marvel movies, Bradley Cooper starred in, directed, produced and wrote A Star Is Born, as a remake of the 1937 musical. Lady Gaga was cast to star opposite him. A Star Is Born was released to critical acclaim along with the accompanying soundtrack, which Bradley co-wrote and produced with Lady Gaga.

Bradley Cooper earned several nominations during awards season for the movie, including five at the BAFTAs, becoming the first person to gain five nominations in a single ceremony. He also earned three Academy Award nominations, but failed to win any.

Joker

You may not have known, but Bradley Cooper served as a co-producer on the 2019 movie Joker, starring Joaquin Phoenix. He earned yet another Academy Award nomination.

Recent Movies

Bradley Cooper’s most recent movies have been Liquorice Pizza and Nightmare Alley, both of which were released in 2021. Nightmare Alley marked Bradley Cooper’s first full-frontal nude scene in a movie. It was received well by critics (the movie, not his penis), but didn’t perform well commercially.

He is set to star in an upcoming Netflix biopic called Maestro, where he plays Leonard Bernstein. Some early shots of the movie show Bradley Cooper to look almost unrecognisable thanks to the use of prosthetics.

Bradley Cooper Wife & Family

Bradley Cooper has had a number of high-profile relationships during his career. One of his earliest was with actress Jennifer Esposito, with whom he became engaged in 2006, but the couple divorced less than a year later.

He has also reportedly has relationships with actresses Renee Zellweger, Zoe Saldana and Suki Waterhouse.

Bradley then got into a relationship with Russian model Irina Shayk from April 2015 to June 2019. They have a daughter, Lea de Silne, together, who was born in 2017. The couple have remained good friends after their break-up and continue to co-parent their daughter.

Bradley Cooper Net Worth

Bradley Cooper has an estimated net worth of $100 million as of 2022.

For his role in The Hangover, Bradley Cooper split a $1 million payout with his co-stars, owing to the fact the studio didn’t think it would perform particularly well. After its success, Bradley was paid $5 million for the second movie and $10 million for the third.

He allegedly didn’t take a salary for directing A Star Is Born, but instead made his earnings by taking a portion of the $150 million profits. He also earned a considerable salary, plus back-end points for his role as Rocket Racoon in the Marvel movies.

‘The 25 Club’: Leonardo DiCaprio Has Done It Again
‘The 25 Club’: Leonardo DiCaprio Has Done It Again

Leonardo DiCaprio and Camila Morrone have just spilt; so we’ve taken a deep dive into DiCaprio’s dating history and have discovered that the Oscar-winner rarely dates anyone older than 25 years old…

According to People, Leonardo DiCaprio and Camila Morrone – the model DiCaprio’s been dating for the last four years – have just broken up.

And many were quick to jump to the conclusion that DiCaprio must have dumped Morrone because she turned 25 just a few months ago. For context, there’s a well-known joke that’s been floating around for the last decade or so – DiCaprio rarely dates anyone over the age of 25; despite now being 47 years old himself.

Even though the news of the Dicaprio-Morrone split only broke hours ago, Twitter users are having a field day; our personal favourite so far is this Tweet from user @zedonarrival:

“There’s no phenomenon on this planet more reliable than Leonardo DiCaprio breaking up with his girl by age 25, the stats are breathtaking.”

Twitter user @zedonarrival

And while Tweets like the example above are hilarious, we started to wonder whether there’s any substance to the popular joke; has DiCaprio ever dated anyone older than 25? Therefore, DMARGE has taken a deep dive into DiCaprio’s dating history to see if the Oscar-winner has actually ever dated anyone over the age of 25.

DiCaprio (aged 47) and Morrone (aged 25) have broken up after four years of dating. Image Credit: TheImageDirect.com

In 1994, DiCaprio had not yet become an international star; Romeo + Juliet wasn’t released until 1996 and Titanic wasn’t released until 1997. But the actor had been nominated for an Oscar for his role in What’s Eating Gilbert Grape, released in 1993. DiCaprio was only 20 in 1994 and it was rumoured that he was dating model Bridget Hall – who would’ve been 17 at the time; although Hall insists the two were only ever friends.

DiCaprio began dating model and actress Kristen Zang in 1996. DiCaprio took Zang as his date to the LA premiere of Romeo + Juliet and the pair dated for two years. Zang would’ve been 24 when they broke up.

In 1998, DiCaprio briefly dated Bijou Phillips; he would’ve been 24 and she would’ve been 18. After DiCaprio and Phillips broke up, from 1998 to 2000, DiCaprio didn’t ‘officially’ date anyone.

Although, multiple sources claim that during that time period, DiCaprio had brief flings with Amber Valletta, Helena Christensen, Naomi Campbell and Eva Herzigová. If DiCaprio did date any of these women, it would prove DiCaprio doesn’t live by (what we’re dubbing) ‘The 25 Principle’, as all of these women would’ve been in their late 20s and early 30s during the last two years of the 90s.

Supermodel Gisele Bündchen – who’s now married to Tom Brady – became DiCaprio’s girlfriend in 2000. The two dated for five years and broke up in 2005 when he was 31 and she was, you guessed it, 25.

After Bündchen, DiCaprio began an on-again-off-again relationship with model Bar Refaeli – which lasted from 2005 to 2011. DiCaprio and Refaeli reportedly ended their relationship for good in May 2011, a few weeks before her 26th birthday… Meaning she was 25 when they broke up.

In 2009, while DiCaprio and Refaeli were ‘off’, the actor had a fling with model Anne Vyalitsyna – who would’ve been 23 at the time.

DiCaprio and Lively were out and about together in LA back in August 2011 (when Lively was 24 years old). Image Credit: PopSugar

DiCaprio then dated actress Blake Lively for five months in 2011, when she was 24 years old. Shortly after Lively, DiCaprio dated model Erin Heatherton for 10 months in 2012. DiCaprio would’ve been 38 and Heatherton would’ve been 23 at the time.

Toni Garn became another one of the many models DiCaprio has dated in 2013. The two dated for a year before breaking up when Garn was 22. Following Garn, DiCaprio dated Kelly Rohrback (yes, another model) from 2015 to early 2016; Rohrback would’ve either been 25 or 26 when the two split.

DiCaprio started dating model Nina Agdal in 2016. The couple broke up in 2017; DiCaprio would’ve been 43 and Agdal would’ve been… 25 years old.

This brings us to Morrone, who was first spotted with DiCaprio in December 2017. Of course, it’s unclear whether DiCaprio really does live by ‘The 25 Principle’ but looking at all the women (mostly models) he’s dated over the years and their relative ages, it could be a possibility.

And it goes without saying, but we do not condone breaking up with someone simply because they’re older than 25 years old – knowing what a legend DiCaprio is, it’s probably (read: hopefully) just a coincidence…

‘Most Seen Wave In History’: Sebastian Steudner Breaks Yet Another Record
‘Most Seen Wave In History’: Sebastian Steudner Breaks Yet Another Record

Big wave surfer Sebastian Steudtner surfed the biggest recorded wave in history on October the 29th, 2020, at Praie do Norte, Nazaré, Portugal. The wave was recorded as being 86 feet tall, topping Brazilian big-wave rider Rodrigo Koxa’s previous effort of 80 foot, which was set at the same location in 2017. It took 18 months for Steudtner’s effort to be recognised officially, however, and even longer (two years from the day he surfed it) for it to become “the most seen wave in the history of surfing.”

Sebastian Steudtner, a German surfer who didn’t start surfing until he was an adult, inspired the world in 2020, when he surfed the biggest wave ever recorded in history.

The October session, which came about thanks to Hurricane Epsilon – a rare event that eventually blasted much of Europe’s coastline to pieces, and which sent waves at Nazaré from a rare, favourable swell direction – had Nazaré frothers frothing.

What was even more remarkable about that day was the lack of wind; as the North Atlantic roiled with monster swell, surface conditions (for a time) at Nazaré were relatively calm, making the massive waves more surfable than usual.

During this historic big wave session, Steudner snaffled a bomb, and rode it to completion, with filmmaker Javi Goya capturing the spectacular moment. 18 months later the Guiness Book Of Records called it the biggest wave ever surfed and recognised it as 86 feet tall (a measurement derived by comparing the length of Steudner’s lower leg to the wave behind him).

Two years later, Steudner, who is a Porsche athlete, took to Instagram to claim the video had close to half a billion views on it, making his wave the most seen wave in the history of surfing.

“Getting close to half a billion views on the most seen wave in history of surfing – two years to the day after I surfed it. Cheers to the internet.”

Sebastian Steudner

Speaking about the wave, Steudner has said: “I felt the most power of any wave I’ve surfed at Nazare.” He also said, according to Surfline, “I remember the waves were actually super close together… Really fast, really steep and kind of crazy.”

Nicolas Cage Will Be Hilarious But Terrifying In Upcoming New Film
Nicolas Cage Will Be Hilarious But Terrifying In Upcoming New Film

Iconic actor Nicolas Cage is set to star in the upcoming comedy-horror film, Dream Scenario.

Nicolas Cage, the Oscar-winning actor who recently proved he has the chops to be a fashion icon, is showing no signs of slowing down when it comes to his career. The 58-year-old’s latest (and hilarious) film, The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent was released earlier this year to favourable reviews.

And hot on the trail of the film’s release, Cage has signed on to do another comedy. Deadline has reported that Cage will star in Dream Scenario, an upcoming comedy film from A24 and directed by Kristoffer Borgli.

The film will follow “a schlubby professor who never made it [but suddenly] becomes an overnight celebrity after appearing in every person on Earth’s dream,” according to The Movie Database.

Dream Scenario isn’t the first comedy-horror film Cage has done; he’s also done Vampire’s Kiss and Mum And Dad (pictured above), just to name a few. Image Credit: Momentum Pictures

Dream Scenario will not be a flat-out comedy though; the film will reportedly have some horror elements – perfect for Cage who has previously starred in the comedy-horror films Vampire’s Kiss and Mum And Dad.

Ari Aster – known for directing horror films Hereditary and Midsommar – and Lars Knudsen – known for producing Hereditary and Midsommar – are set to produce Dream Scenario alongside BAFTA nominee Jacob Jaffke and Tyler Campellone – who also produced Hereditary and Midsommar.

Full Circle Cinema reported early last year that Adam Sandler was in talks to play the lead role in Dream Scenario but obviously a deal was never reached, which is why Cage has been able to step in.

While we think Sandler’s a great actor (he certainly has proved himself recently with his roles in Uncut Gems and Hustle), Cage is the better option for a comedy-horror – the dude did once drop US$276,000 on a dinosaur skull…

Nude Airdropping Spree Creates Chaos On Southwest Airlines Flight
Nude Airdropping Spree Creates Chaos On Southwest Airlines Flight

A Southwest pilot has lost his patience with passengers sending nudes, taking to the loud-hailer to tell passengers to quit it or else he will turn the plane around, taxi back to the terminal, and get security involved, a viral social media video claims.

Teighlor Marsalis, a passenger on a recent SouthWest Airlines flight, recently took to TikTok, one of the world’s largest video sharing platforms, to warn her followers that SouthWest Airlines “takes airdropping nudes very seriously.”

She posted a video, which has now been seen 2.4 million times, in which a pilot could be heard speaking to the passengers on the plane over the loudspeaker system. The pilot, according to the video, says: “So here’s the deal, if this continues while we’re on the ground I’m going to have to pull back to the gate, everybody is going to have to get off, we’re going to have to get security involved, and this vacation is going to be ruined.”

“So you folks, whatever that airdrop thing is, [quit] sending naked pictures and let’s get yourselves to Cabo.”

Tiktok user Nikki Marie chimed in at the top of the comments, saying it sounded like something her parents used to say when she was a kid: “This feels like my mom turning around in the car to me and my twin sister “IF YOU 2 DONT STOP I SWEAR TO GOD.” Another TikTok user, Kristin Lee Rastall, said: “That man said it like a parent.” Others shared stories of their own random Airdrop experiences (one TikTok user, QueenVelaris, wrote: “I accepted a random airdrop once and it was a video of a dancing hotdog”).

“Happened to me last week on the way to NOLA.”

TikTok user Terri Brown

“File this under ‘Stuff a pilot shouldn’t have to say to the cabin'” yet another Tiktok user, Austen Lambert, remarked. Others complained that Airdrop only seems to work when you don’t want it to, with one claiming: “I can’t airdrop a picture to a member of my family 2 ft away. But on a plane I sometimes get like 5 airdrop photos.”

AirDropping nudes to strangers has been dubbed “cyber flashing” by the New York Times, and the practice “was almost outlawed in New York state in 2018,” according to The Daily Dot. This isn’t the first time passengers have been sprung doing dodgy stuff on their phone on a plane either, with The Daily Dot claiming “a man was arrested in June for AirDropping photos of his genitals to random passengers on his flight.”

Passengers have been shocked by many mid-flight acts in recent years, with people being caught editing dick pics on their phones, watching porn and trying to join the mile high club. So it appears the classy days of flying are well and truly over…

Crypto.com Accidentally Transfers Australian Woman $10.5 Million Instead Of $100

In the mistake of a lifetime, Crypto.com has accidentally sent an Australian woman millions of dollars, instead of a mere $100. Unfortunately for her, she now has to give it back.

One of the world’s biggest cryptocurrency trading platforms and exchanges (they have partnered with the likes of Matt Damon), Crypto.com, f*cked up quite spectacularly, it has been revealed, sending a Melbourne woman $10.5 million instead of the $100 refund she was owed in May 2021.

According to The Herald Sun, it took Crypto.com many months to realise the mistake, which was discovered in a company audit just before Christmas.

The mistake allegedly occurred when the company accidentally entered an account number in the payment field instead of the $100 refund the woman was owed.

Crypto.com went to the Supreme Court against the woman and her sister, who had allegedly been enjoying the money, to get their funds back.

When the crypto trading platform tried to recoup the money, however, they allegedly found it had already been spent on a a multi-million dollar mansion in Cragieburn.

A judge has now reportedly ruled the property must be sold, and ordered the remaining money to be sent back to Crypto.com.

Jamal Murray Reveals His Workout Routine For Putting On Muscle
Jamal Murray Reveals His Workout Routine For Putting On Muscle

Jamal Murray, star guard of the Denver Nuggets, spoke to DMARGE about his diet and workout routine during a trip to Australia for Sydney’s NBA Gallery exhibition.

Denver Nuggets’ star point guard, Jamal Murray, is one of the most exciting players in the NBA. In the middle of the pandemic, his incredible playoff form in the NBA bubble gave a lot of us a much-needed distraction from the brain-numbing boredom of lockdowns.

Since 2021, however, Murray has been recovering from an ACL tear, rehabbing himself back into peak fitness. He isn’t discouraged though. In fact, as Murray recently told foxsports.com.au, that memorable spell during the playoffs “wasn’t even my best though” claiming “there’s another level you guys haven’t seen yet.”

“I’m excited, I’ve just got to be out there.”

Jamal Murray

Speaking of getting back out there, Murray recently spoke to DMARGE about how he has been working out in order to hit the 2022-23 NBA season in prime condition (Denver Nuggets open their campaign in Salt Lake City on October the 19th, at which point it will have been just over 18 months since Murray tore his left ACL on a dribble to the basket against the Golden State Warriors).

Jamal Murray has been enjoying his time in Sydney, after opening the NBA Gallery. Image Credit: NBA Gallery

Murray told DMARGE a typical training session for him involves a lot of stretching, recovery and shooting (something he does “every day, twice a day”). He also works on his ball handling to continue honing his skills. When it comes to the gym he does a lot of lower body work, focussing on the quads, hamstrings and glutes.

Exercises Murray does to build muscle in these areas range include trap bar deadlifts, Bulgarian split squats, knee extensions and “a lot of single leg stuff” because that is “the point of attack for your jump.”

“For me honestly, since I’ve been rehabbing a lot, I’m not afraid to put on a lot of weight and increase my sets,” Murray told DMARGE. He then added, half-jokingly: “I like to leave the gym feeling like I’ve worked; I like to add weight. They always try to tell me, ‘no,’ but I’m like ‘this is good, I want to see my max.'”

“I’m always trying to test myself at the gym.”

Jamal Murray

In terms of his best tips for guys that want to put on muscle, Murray told DMARGE: “The better I eat the better I feel during training, the more weight I can cut and the better my body looks – it’s a big full circle.”

“When I’m in season, I eat pretty healthily. I don’t drink a lot of pop or eat candy. I’ve got a pretty high metabolism so my weight fluctuates pretty quickly. If I eat badly it shows once I start playing. But I can afford to put a couple of pounds on right now [in the off-season]; I know I can lose it in a few days.”

Jamal Murray at the NBA Gallery. Image Credit: NBA Gallery

On how to build good habits, Murray told DMARGE it all comes down to practice, saying: “I have a big sweet tooth but I pick and choose when’s a good time. I think it’s just about habits. [To eat well] you’ve got to have bigger goals in mind.”

As for getting in the zone before a game or a training session, Murray told DMARGE he likes to meditate or try to close his eyes “and envision the game or practice I want to have – to think it into existence.”

“I get upset if I don’t shoot well, so I try to limit that with my preparation.”

Jamal Murray

Murray said it meant a lot to him to be part of the NBA gallery – as he not only got the chance to open it up, but it also gave him the opportunity to see Australia (“I’ve been able to meet all my favourite UFC fighters,” he told as, as well as enjoy checking out the food and Sydney harbour”).

“It’s been an amazing trip, I’ve had a lot of fun and I can’t wait to come back.”

Jamal Murray

The NBA Gallery in Sydney has been created in collaboration with local Australian and First Nations artists like Scott Marsh, Serwah Attafuah, Roman Jody, Noah Johnson, Sonny Day, Mini Swoosh, and Kris Andrew Small. It’s near Sydney’s Central Station and the pop up exhibition closes this Thursday, so get in quick if you want to see it before it’s too late.
