Pharrell Williams Has Found A Way To Wear Gym Shorts With Style

Some may call it odd, but you can call this Pharrell Williams‘ next big fashion statement. The legendary artist and fashion advocate was spotted championing his latest menswear piece under the Human Made label and it couldn’t be any more unique. We’re talking Muay Thai shorts, people. For those unacquainted with the traditional sport, Muay Thai is Thailand’s official combat sport which dates back to the 18th century. Think of it as their own version of boxing but with brutal knees, elbows and kicks permitted.RELATED: Coolest Shorts You Can Rock All Year AroundThe shorts that Pharrell has been rocking takes direct inspiration from this sport’s heritage, bearing an oversized Thai motif on the front panel, a wide elastic waistband, curved hem and panel detailing on the sides of the satin garment. It’s not a look for the red carpet but we can assure you that it’s definitely one that men will be embracing in the upcoming warmer seasons. Could these be the new-aged gym shorts? We’re placing our bets and saying yes.

Based on the way Phrarrell has been wearing them on his social media posts, they’re also pretty easy to style. Simplicity reigns here with the Muay Thai shorts paired with a hoodie, acid washed tee and an array of footwear from fresh sneakers to military boots.

On closer inspection, Pharrell also appears to have remodelled the shorts in a more relaxed linen version complete with back pockets. The result is a functional gym short with heritage Muay Thai design for that true athleisure aesthetic.

Whilst your gym shorts might not be a welcome sight at the mother-in-law’s (yet), it’s certainly earning a place amongst the streetwear crowd. And we all know where that goes with brands like Louis Vuitton, Balenciaga and Gucci embracing the movement.

Instagram Boyfriends Reveal What It's Really Like To Date An Influencer
Instagram Boyfriends Reveal What It's Really Like To Date An Influencer

Instagram husbands are the man behind the woman, but could you do it?As you scroll through the photos of someone half the universe crushes on, do you ever wonder: what’s it actually like to date them? Do they always smell like coconut oil? And most importantly: who takes all those pictures? We spoke to the beaus of three Instagram models to see how they feel about their other-halves fan-bases, impromptu late-night photoshoots and what it really takes to date them.

A post shared by Monika Radulovic (@monika_rad) on

Talking to Alesandro Ljubicic (artist, and partner of Miss Universe Australia, Monika Radulovic), initially he’s coy, “For me she’s just Monika. She’s got a good following and I’m proud of her; but to be honest with you it doesn’t really phase me.” However, when we ask, “Are there any challenges to dating a model?” he doesn’t hold back.

“Hell yeah! Definitely. When you’ve had a long week at work—and of course during the day you’ve probably received like 10 packages for her – and she gets home, you tell her how your day was and she says, ‘Aww what did I receive. How am I going to take this photo? What do you think, can you take the photo for me?’ – you just don’t care… “

“And do your art skills help?”“I know a lot about art but when it comes to taking a fashion photo what I think looks good is rarely the same as what she thinks looks good. And so I’m like: up on the tripod stand, turning on the bloody light and I just keep pressing the button while she does her thing.” He laughs, “But at the end of the day I do it all because I love her.”

“She will criticise…You know, ‘oh you’ve taken that one wrong,’ and it’s like: I’m not a bloody photographer.”

My rock, my everything @josh.a.miller thanks for making me smile everyday

A post shared by Steph Smith (@stephclairesmith) on

We then spoke to Josh Miller (content creator, and boyfriend of Steph Smith, the face of Bondi Sands and model with 1.3 million followers). He considers himself a “shy type,” which he says, “Makes having to stand and take photos in a public place embarrassing.”As a filmmaker himself, he’s no stranger to the world of photography, but he still finds it awkward to take (or get involved in) certain shots.

“There is one time I recall being incredibly uncomfortable. We were doing a job with a fashion label to shoot a Valentines Day campaign. I was dressed in kit that was cringe-worthy to say the least.”

“Steph, myself, photographer and director of the shoot headed off into the city to shoot some location shots. As we arrived the director saw that there was a traditional brass band busking on the foot path. She asked Steph and I to go and dance for a few minutes in front of the band so they could get photos.”

“That would have to be up there with the most uncomfortable I’ve possibly ever felt. Genuinely hundreds of people eating their lunch on the lawn and walking by all looking at us thinking: what on earth are they doing!?”

A post shared by Sammy-Jo Risteski 🦋 (@_sammy_jo_) on

Nathan Antunes (race-car driver, engaged to Sammy-Jo Risteski, a model, dancer and PT),  is in a similar situation, yet faces a slightly different problem. Although it’s “a little ego boosting knowing that your fiancé is not only adored in your own eyes but others as well,” he says, “because social media is so easily accessible it’s hard to differentiate what is work time and what is personal time.”

“It’s super annoying when she’s on her phone and scrolling the ‘gram, commenting, liking and engaging the fans when it’s our own personal time.”

So there you have it: to date a model, pro-level photography skills and patience are non-negotiable, while having an international art-business or a successful career as a filmmaker or racing-driver are highly recommended. You’re welcome.RELATED: Secrets To Making A Great First Impression On Your Partner’s Parents

'Analysts' Say Bitcoin Will Likely Quadruple In Value Next Year
'Analysts' Say Bitcoin Will Likely Quadruple In Value Next Year

Currently at $9,081, Bitcoin is predicted to reach $36,000 in 2019, according to a Wall St strategy firm’s analysis of crypto-currency mining efficiency gains.

And that’s one of their conservative estimates—although $36,000 is the Fundstrat report’s “most likely” target, Sam Doctor (one of the authors) wrote that Bitcoin could end up anywhere between $20,000 and $64,000, depending on how the financial, electricity and technology landscapes develop over the next year and a half.

Even the lower end of that range represents a 113 percent increase from the current bitcoin price, while the more optimistic estimate represents a 583 percent increase.

The reason for the report’s optimistic prediction is the steadily more cost-effective ratio between the bitcoin price and miners’ breakeven cost (P/BE). As reported by CCN, this has proven to be a “reliable long-term support level” for the flagship cryptocurrency, and future mining infrastructure development will “underpin bitcoin price appreciation into year-end 2019.”

“We expect the mining economy to grow over the next several years, and project a BTC price of ~$36,000 by year end 2019 based on the historical average 1.8x P/BE multiple” (Fundstrat analyst, Sam Doctor).

Although it is important to note that Fundstrat has always been quick to talk up Bitcoin, it is true that crypto-mining firms have been scaling up their operations following last year’s bull market (even after the crash).

As reported by CCN, Bitmain, the world’s dominant mining hardware manufacturer, “Is said to have made as much as $4 billion in operating profit in 2017, and Canaan — its largest competitor — is preparing to hold an initial public offering (IPO) that it believes will provide it with a $1 billion valuation.”

This, combined with the news that Wall Street’s biggest financial institutions (Goldman Sachs and The New York Stock Exchange) are, as reported by The New York Times, “Working on an online trading platform that would allow large investors to buy and hold Bitcoin,” should be enough for the digital currency’s advocates to continue seeing their bank accounts through gold-tinted glasses.

And in the meantime? Just tell your landlord: “it’s half full not half empty, I swear!”

Justin Bieber Resurrected A Menswear Look From The Early 2000s & You Should Be Afraid
Justin Bieber Resurrected A Menswear Look From The Early 2000s & You Should Be Afraid

There is no God. And if there was, he just gave Justin Bieber permission to wear camouflage cargo pants. Read that again. Slowly. Then punch yourself in the face. Now punch the person next to you in the face.

A post shared by UpscaleHype (@upscalehype) on

Cargo pants were once the go-to staple pant for men in the early 2000s. The look was further exemplified during the prolific boy band era which saw ‘cool dudes’ like N’Sync and The Backstreet Boys donning the baggy bottoms with a pocket fetish.Whilst camo never really did go out of fashion (like the colour black), it does reinforce a 80s and 90s vibe which when carried over onto the classic cargo pant, can cause all hell to break loose. To Bieber’s credit, the updated camo-cargo pants from Californian label AMIRI does taper in below the knee a bit more than the old school free-flowing ones. This essentially makes it a bit easier on the eyes whilst the distressed knees add some much needed detail.

A post shared by Justin Bieber (@justinbieber) on

Bieber brought the controversial look back into 2018 by pairing it with a Thrasher hoodie and the mandatory dad sneaker, a pair of Adidas Yeezy 700 Waver Runners. If that’s not enough hype, he was also snapped in the outfit leaving his custom-painted Lamborghini which now bears the ‘Cash Only’ graffiti font on the side of the door.

It’s not a metaphor for Bieber’s tax evasion
What the hell does it mean? Only the Instagram kids will know. What we do know is that the words were sprayed on by Bieber’s long-time artist friend Joe Termini who often uses the phrase in his work.Given his association with Hillsong, we’re hoping he’ll spray a mural of Jesus on it next.RELATED: How To Get Justin Bieber’s Style

Dieticians Reveal Which Country’s Takeaway Food Is Least Catastrophic For Your Weight-Loss Goals
Dieticians Reveal Which Country’s Takeaway Food Is Least Catastrophic For Your Weight-Loss Goals

What if we told you: it’s possible to eat out without packing calories faster than a grizzly bear prepping to hibernate?

Would you be more tempted to indulge?

Well, tonight you have free rein to celebrate with your favourite takeaway, because Australian nutritionists Lee Holmes and Sophie Guidolin reckon—as long as you follow their advice—you have nothing to be afraid of.

Speaking to FEMAIL, Lee Holmes said if you are eating out regularly, and indulging in foods that are highly-processed or high in fat, “You may find those extra calories quickly translate to weight creep.”

Sophie Guidolin backed this up, telling D’Marge that it’s important to maintain as much control as possible, “In order to avoid consuming half a day’s worth of energy in 10 minutes”.

However not all Uber Eats were made equal. From creamy carbonaras to papadum accompanied curries, here’s a review of the world’s most popular takeaway dishes.

Modern Australian

The beauty of ‘new-age’ aussie food, according to Ms Holmes, is that there’s a focus on simple fresh ingredients cooked without the need for salty or sugary sauces (Bunnings’ sausage sizzle excluded).

“A piece of grilled fish served with vegetables is a great nutritional choice,” Ms Holmes told Femail.

“Or you can choose a leaner cut of meat such as sirloin or chicken if you prefer but make sure these are grilled and paired with a fresh salad.”

And if you’re on a low carb (or Keto) diet, avoid the bread because that’s where many people end up eating extra carbohydrates.

A modern twist on “chuckin’ a few shrimp on the barbie”

Italian

Italian, a favourite of carb-lovers everywhere, was a surprise addition to MS Holmes’ #allclear list. The nutritionist claims it’s a “misconception” that pizza and pasta are inherently unhealthy, and that this can be fixed by ordering smaller portion-sizes and only selecting certain sauces.

“Having a really nice comfort meal once a week is fine but if you’re choosing pasta order a tomato-based sauce rather than one that’s creamy.”

And of course, you can’t go wrong with an Italian salad. Tasty and nutritious: they’re a dietician’s fibre-filled dream.

Pizza is fine: if you don’t eat too much…

Thai

As long as you choose simple stir-fries and clear soups over coconut cream-based curries, and avoid deep-fried entrees like spring rolls, Thai is quite a healthy option. Also, as Ms Holmes points out:

“Thai really lends itself to being shared with others so it’s one place where you will probably order less you normally would.”

Geraldine Georgeou, another dietitian, echoed these sentiments in an interview with The Huffington Australia; “Rather than going for a curry puff or spring rolls, go for a nice, fresh Thai beef salad.”

And if you just can’t help yourself, and end up ordering a curry, she recommends asking for extra veggies and, “Avoid slurping down all the coconut milk base.”

Not a spring roll in sight…

Indian

Just like Thai, Indian takeaway is as healthy or fat laden as you order it.

Dahl—a lentil-based curry—is great because it’s high in fibre and protein, and low in fat. However most meat dishes come with calorie rich sauces. So if you want to eat as healthily as possible, Ms Holmes advises picking the drier dishes cooked Tandoori-style (a dish of marinated meat cooked in a clay oven).

And lastly, she told The Daily Mailalways steer clear of naan – especially those that come with cheese. But then, if you did that, life wouldn’t really be worth living—would it?

For the love of Vishnu, don’t skip the naan…

Japanese

There can only be one winner, and if you want to eat the healthiest takeaway possible, Lee Holmes recommends Japanese—particularly sashimi (raw fish served without rice).

“Pair this with edamame beans and a seaweed salad. Add a little bit of wasabi for flavour, and eat the pickled ginger because this is good for your gut.”

If you do choose sushi, Ms Holmes told The Daily Mail, switch out white rice for brown – an option that’s now available in many Japanese restaurants.

Sophie Guidolin told D’Marge that another benefit of Japanese restaurants is they allow you to keep ordering small portions of food until you are full, enabling you to better manage the amount of food you eat.

“Japanese cuisine, in contrast to most other fast-foods, is often made to order with minimal ingredients and an emphasis on balance. Fermented foods are great for gut health, fish such as salmon delivers omega-3 fatty acids, green tea is full of antioxidants while seaweed is recognised for its many vitamins and minerals, from iodine to vitamins A, B, C, D and E,” she added.

Japanese tops the list of healthiest takeaway meals.

Michael B. Jordan Shows Off This Simple Wardrobe Piece That Can Elevate Your Suit
Michael B. Jordan Shows Off This Simple Wardrobe Piece That Can Elevate Your Suit

You thought it was gone for good. You thought it was reserved for the wardrobes of visionaries and billionaire entrepreneurs. You were wrong.

Michael B. Jordan is using his latest red carpet look as a style statement for men in suits: Turtle necks are cool again. The Creed actor attended the New York premiere of Fahrenheit 451 overnight in a slick midnight navy three-piece suit with the dress shirt portion replaced by a simple black turtle neck.

The result is super clean and minimalist and it works sensationally on Jordan’s bulkier physique. What’s notable is the ease at which men can throw together this look without going broke. There’s no need for fancy ties, pocket squares or tie pins here. Just a conservative timepiece will do along with a pair of polished dress shoes and nicely fitted suit.

If you’re keen to see what a turtle neck looks like on a skinnier frame, Andrew Garfield braved the cold last year in a turtle neck-suit combo to great results.

So is the turtle neck back for good? You bet it is and you needn’t fear it any longer. They start from anywhere between $25 via ASOS and can go all the way up to $2,000 for baller cashmere ones on MR. PORTER.
