We’re only halfway through the 2022 Formula 1 World Championship and it already looks like Max Verstappen’s got it in the bag… And it seems he’s bagged a ‘piece unique’ TAG Heuer watch to celebrate.
Max Verstappen, the 24-year-old Dutchman (and reigning World Champion after winning his first title last year with Red Bull), has all but mathematically secured his second title, with his main title rival Charles Leclerc an almost insurmountable 80 points behind him after Verstappen’s win at the 2022 Hungarian Grand Prix last weekend.
Naturally, ‘Super Max’ is on a bit of a high – and if he wasn’t already smiling, his new TAG Heuer watch has probably got him grinning, too. TAG Heuer is, of course, one of Red Bull’s main sponsors, and this year they decided to bless Max with his very own one-off watch.
The TAG Heuer Monaco Special Edition ‘Max Verstappen’ (ref. CBL2180.FC6497.MV) is a unique variant of the Monaco Special Edition released earlier this year, which itself is a tribute to the coveted ref. 74033 ‘Dark Lord’ from the 1970s. It’s an evil-looking watch that’s perfect for the bad boy of Formula 1.

Constructed from titanium and featuring a tough black DLC coating; rose gold indexes and hands, and an asphalt-like outer dial, Verstappen’s watch is distinguished from other ‘Dark Lords’ thanks to the number 1 that takes the place of the normal 6 o’clock subdial.

Since the start of the 2014 season, drivers have had to choose an available starting number before entering their first Grand Prix, and carry this number throughout their F1 career. The exception to this is #1, which the reigning driver’s champion is allowed to use if they want – which is what Verstappen has done this year as the reigning champ, hence its appearance on the watch. What a flex.
It’s highly appropriate that Max picked the TAG Heuer Monaco as the basis for his piece unique. He not only lives in the principality, but he also won the 2021 Monaco Grand Prix during his successful 2021 title campaign.
He’s clearly a fan of the watch, as he previously used to wear the limited-edition Monaco Titan (ref. CAW218B.FC6496), which is the watch he wore when he lifted his championship-winning trophy in Abu Dhabi last year.

Lewis Hamilton’s Formula 1 season may have gotten off to a rocky start, but the man himself proves he’s as committed as ever to keeping himself in fighting-fit shape with this perfectly executed upper body workout.
Lewis Hamilton‘s Formula 1 season has yet to prove as successful as the past 8 years, in which he won 7 Driver’s World Championships and narrowly missed out on a record eighth in controversial fashion, but proving he’s not giving up yet, Lewis recently posted an upper body workout to help keep him in fighting contention.
Posting a couple of videos to his Instagram stories in the past 24 hours at the time of publishing, Lewis shows off some tricep extension exercises using TRX straps and a barbell bent over row performed with technique as impeccable as his racing.
Captioning the video “always pushing,” Lewis implies he’s prepared to do anything and everything to help see his fortunes turn more towards his favour, similar to how he decided to go on a long-distance run around Monaco before the French Grand Prix a few weeks ago.
So, what’s so good about Lewis’ upper body workout? Well, not only do both exercises serve to help build incredible muscle and strength but they’re also performed with perfect form, something many gym-goers could often overlook in favour of being able to lift as much weight as possible. Yep: that’s today’s ego lesson right there (you can try crushing your self conceits in the ice bath tomorrow).
WATCH: Lewis Hamilton performs an upper body workout with perfect form.
TRX Tricep Extension
The first of the two exercises in Lewis’ workout is a TRX tricep extension. This is similar to a triceps exercise known as the skull crusher but is performed standing up and using TRX straps instead of a bench and dumbbells, plate weight or barbell. It also uses just your body weight for resistance and, depending on where you position your feet can determine the level of difficulty.
To perform a TRX triceps extension, anchor your TRX straps to a solid surface. We, unfortunately, can’t see how Lewis anchors his, but we imagine they’re attached to a solid hook or ring on the wall. With the TRX straps anchored, adjust them to so that they hang just below your chest.
Grab the handles using an overhand grip and lean your body forward until you’re at least at a 45-50 degree angle from the floor. Ensure you keep your body and arms straight as you lean forward. Once you’re at the desired angle from the floor, bend your arms at the elbow so that your body continues moving towards the floor, until your forearms are at a 90-degree angle.
From here, using your triceps muscle, push yourself back up to the starting position, where your arms at straight. Repeat this process for 10-15 repetitions.
The closer your feet are to the anchor point, the more difficult the TRX tricep extension will be since your triceps will need to work harder to get you back into a straightened position.
In Lewis’ execution, he keeps his body straight with his core engaged and shoulders locked down throughout the duration of the exercise. If you’re unsure exactly how to perform it for yourself, just copy what he does and your triceps will be busting out your t-shirts in no time.
Barbell Bent Over Row
The barbell bent over row is one of the best back exercises you can do, although some may also view it as a full body exercise since it requires you to engage your lower body muscles to keep you stabilised throughout. But, for the most part, the bent over row recruits your lats, traps, rhomboid muscles and rotator cuffs.
Not only does performing this exercise give you greater strength in your back, but it can help to balance out your upper body if you perform a lot of chest exercises as well as improve your posture.
To perform the bent over row, add some weight to a barbell – make sure you start off with a lightweight to minimise the risk of injury. Stand with your feet slightly wider than shoulder-width apart and hinge at the hips to bend over and pick the barbell up with an overhand grip. The hinging motion is vital to performing this exercise correctly.
Your upper body should bend over, but your back should remain straight. Rather than bending your legs to squat down, push your backside out behind you to help with the hinge. Your positioning for the exercise should see your torso parallel to the ground and a slight bend in the knees.
With your hands gripping the bar, lock down your shoulder blades and pull – or row – the barbell up towards your chest. Once it reaches your chest (ideally you should get the barbell to touch your sternum) slowly lower the bar back down. If you can’t get the bar to touch your sternum, remove some of the weight until you’re able to do so.
You should also make sure to keep your spine neutral throughout the movement, along with your neck, so it’s best to remain looking at the ground (this is the only thing wrong with Lewis’ technique, as he does look up to look in the mirror for a second or two).
When you lower the bar back down, be sure to not let it touch the floor. In doing so, your back muscles are recruited for the entire movement, as they will also be working against the resistance of the bar during the lowering process.
In Lewis’ example, he keeps his back incredibly straight throughout, with his backside pushed out behind him. He also manages to get the bar to reach his chest on every rep. We would suggest he slow down the reps a little more, but otherwise, his form his excellent.
Bent Over Row vs Pendlay Row
The bent over row is incredibly similar to the Pendlay row, which was named after its inventor, Glenn Pendlay. The two movements are practically the same, with the main difference being that with the Pendlay row, you do allow the bar to touch the ground after each rep. This means, that with each new rep, you’re effectively lifting dead weight, so your back muscles are recruited far more to help lift the bar off the ground each time.
Lewis Hamilton recently finished second at the Hungarian Grand Prix and currently sits sixth in the Driver Standings with 146 points. The drivers will now head into the summer break, before returning on the 26th of August for the Belgian Grand Prix at the notorious Spa-Francorchamps circuit.

A guest on Joe Rogan‘s podcast has shared the interesting but terrible encounter he experienced while in prison as a first-time offender…
Prison is a place many of us hope to never end up in. The loss of freedom, being shoved into an overcrowded cell and the violence; it sounds unbearable. But going to prison may be worse than we think, as highlighted by an episode of The Joe Rogan Experience.
Host Joe Rogan asked his guest Bobby Green, a professional mixed martial artist and current UFC competitor, about prison, as Green served a ninety-day sentence years ago.
But Green invited his adopted father and UFC coach, Jacob Behney, to share his experience in prison as a first-time offender instead – and Behney’s story is truly eye-opening and horrific.
Essentially, Behney describes that in prison, it’s an unspoken rule that people of different races can’t interact with each other. However, he was unaware of this rule when he first went to prison, and it almost got him killed.
“I don’t know anything, you know, and this black guy is yelling… ‘Anybody want to learn how to play chess? Anybody want to learn how to play chess?’, you know, I was like, ‘hell yeah I want to learn how to play chess’, right?”
Jacob Behney
“So, I walk over, I sit down with this fool and he starts showing me how to play chess but it’s a black guy, at a black guy table and I’m a white guy; so now I just sat down at this black guy table and all the woods and all the skinheads [prison slang for white inmates] in there, they’re like now against me. But I didn’t know; I had no idea.”
“So now my cell pops, and I go to walk to the shower and I walk past the other cell that pops, which is another skinhead in that room, and I go walk past his cell and just, ‘smack!’”
Jacob Behney
At this point, Behney mimes a punch and then talks about the fight he had with this “skinhead” who he describes as having a Swastika tattooed on his forehead. As Behney has experience in combat – he’s not only Green’s UFC coach but is also a Jiu-Jitsu instructor and MMA coach too – he was able to fight off his attacker.
WATCH: Jacob Behney talks about almost getting stabbed in prison…
But this led to a bigger issue. After this fight, the Swastika tattooed man organised for two guys to kill Behney. Luckily, Behney had a good relationship with the man who was in the cell next to his – not the man who he shared a cell with – and was warned minutes before the attack.
“He’s like ‘they’re gonna come and get you when this door pops. You’re gonna pop this door, you’re gonna go to shower and they’re going to send some guys to come and get you.”
Jacob Behney
“My [cellmate] he knows already; he didn’t tell me. In order for that to go down, they have to tell your celly so your celly can stay out of the fucking way. So, he knows about it, he’s known about it…”
“So, door pops, my celly takes off running out of the cell. So, I just post it up at the back of the cell, just waiting, you know? And sure as shit, two guys come flying in. One guy flying in and trying to stab me and then we’re fucking scrapping, rapping all over the place.”
“Fall out of the cell, we’re up the stairs, [I] fucking push the guy down the stairs, we fall down the stairs; I’m tired as fuck. Like, fighting two guys, I’m tired, I’m lumped up a little bit, and I look over this way, and I’m barely breathing, look over this way and all the fucking cops [are] just watching. They’re just watching.”
Jacob Behney
“So, this other guy comes over, he’s kicking, kicking, I grab the other guy, drag him on top of men and I’m just choking him, you know, like trying to use him to deflect this guy from getting at me. And then [I] realise, this guy’s out, he’s not even awake. [So, I] push him off me and now it’s just me and this guy, and everybody in the cells watching and all the cops watching. So, I just tear this fucking guy’s ass up.”
“We leave, and this guy never got up, the guy I was choking; [he] never got up. Just eyes full of blood, right? So, they send me to another cell block, I go in there for a couple days. Guard comes in, ‘we’re going to move you to the gymnasium’. So they move me to the gymnasium, so now I’m out of the cell block, I’m in a gym with 300 guys, can walk around, I get yard access, all this stuff, right? And the cop says, ‘I really appreciate what you did for us out there’. He’s like, ‘That was pretty fucking amazing’ and I’m just thinking to myself like, I want to get the fuck out of here.”
It’s incredibly disturbing that something as simple as interacting with people of another race can get you killed in prison, as well as Behney’s claim that prison guards do absolutely nothing to stop prisoners from fighting one another. If anything, Behney’s interesting story just reaffirms that most of us should hope to never experience prison life; especially as most of us are not trained fighters, meaning most of us wouldn’t survive the attack Behney faced.

Men, are you looking for the best fleshlight? Look no further. The fleshlight is likely to be a man’s first foray into the ever expanding world of sex toys, as it is primarily designed for solo use. Also known as a male stroker or a male masturbator toy, the fleshlight is great sex toy for men to own, even if they have a partner.
Fleshlight is actually the brand name of one of the original male sex toys, and the company was founded in 1998. The name has since become synonymous with male masturbator toys and male strokers, and this is the wording you will likely see on sex toy websites, unless your fleshlight of choice is made by Fleshlight itself.
What is a fleshlight?
A fleshlight is a sex toy for men that is most commonly made from silicone and is a toy that mimics the feeling of a vagina. The fleshlight got its name because it most usually resembles the shape of a flashlight, but instead of a light coming out of the end by way of a bulb, there is an orifice in which you put your member.
As close a substitute as you can get to a real woman, the best fleshlights come in various sizes and styles with each offering its own specialised sensations to help you achieve a feeling, unlike the one you experience when you become acquainted with Mrs Palm and her five daughters.
How to use a fleshlight?
Using a fleshlight isn’t as simple as just jamming your penis, or someone else’s, into the opening. While a fleshlight might be your substitute for a real woman, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t treat it like one.
Remember, while you think it may be fun to live out your wildest fantasies and be as rough as you possibly can be with your fleshlight, going too hard, too fast can actually damage the fleshlight. This is because it’s made from silicone, and if it’s exposed to too much friction, it can eventually suffer from micro tears. The same can be said of your penis, too. If you go in all guns blazing, you could potentially cause harm to your best friend.
So, to use a fleshlight the right way, invest in a good water-based lube. Only ever use water-based lube with a fleshlight. Oil-based lubes will make cleaning your fleshlight a royal pain in the ass.
Water-based lube is easier to clean, both with your fleshlight and your dick, and will be much safer on the materials of your chosen masturbator toy.
With lube applied to both the fleshlight – get it as far down the fleshlight canal as you can – and your penis, you’re now ready to go past the point of no return. Once you’ve found yourself inside, go slowly and twist and turn the fleshlight so you introduce the various textures to your penis for maximum pleasure.
As you’ll find out below, different fleshlights have different textures, bumps, nooks and crannies inside, all designed with the sole aim of giving you intense orgasms. Also, you’ve spent money on the thing, so you should take the time to explore your investment to full effect.
How to clean a fleshlight?
As with anything sex-related, hygiene is of the utmost importance. With this in mind, you’re going to want to keep your fleshlight toy clean so that it not only extends its life, but keeps it feeling and looking fresh for your next session.
Both your water-based lube and any fluids expelled from your own body can have a negative effect on the materials of your fleshlight if not cleaned thoroughly. And, if they are left to fester, can cause harmful bacteria to grow. We shouldn’t have to explain why harmful bacteria and your penis aren’t exactly a harmonious match-up.
To clean a fleshlight, first remove the inner sleeve from its case. Pretty much all fleshlights and male strokers should be built to facilitate this, but if yours can’t be dismantled, then it’s not something we’d recommend putting near your Crown Jewels anyway.
You can use warm soapy water on the fleshlight case, but be sure you don’t use soap on the fleshlight sleeve. For the sleeve, start by running warm water through it to begin dislodging any build-ups of lube or other fluids. You can get your fingers in there to help out.
You’ll then want to invest in a dedicated fleshlight cleaning product, as they will be made from chemicals that won’t harm the silicone material of your toy.
Once you’re done cleaning, let it air dry. Don’t be tempted to use heat or any other method to try and speed it up. Be patient.
Which fleshlight is best?
As with most products on the market, not just those of sexual persuasions, the amount you spend on your fleshlight will likely influence the quality you receive. The less you spend on a fleshlight, then the cheaper quality materials you can expect to ‘surround yourself with, whereas if you can afford a greater sum, you really will be in ownership of one of the best fleshlights, and the less likely you’ll feel you need a woman in your life ever again.
We’ve scoured the adult websites to find the very best fleshlights for men, and the ones that will bring you the sweetest satisfaction. Turbo thrusts, pink ladies, ice and pornstar Fleshlight editions, we have got them all. So, whether you’re looking for a fleshlight sleeve, an anal fleshlight, the best feeling fleshlight or just an entry-level, affordable fleshlight, we’ve got you covered.

Think luxury watchmakers and there’s a good chance TAG Heuer will feature in your top 10. That’s not a coincidence: they’re one of the world’s most prominent and successful watch brands.
The Swiss company has been making luxurious timepieces since 1860, although it wasn’t until 1985 and a takeover by the TAG Group that TAG Heuer found its current name. For its first 125 years, it was simply known as Heuer.
Founded in St-Imier, Switzerland by Edouard Heuer, Heuer (or technically Uhrenmanufaktur Heuer AG), TAG Heuer is famous for its chronographs. The watchmaker patented its first chronograph timepiece in 1882, followed by another patent, this time for an “oscillating pinion” in 1887. The first chronograph watch to roll out of Heuer’s factory arrived in 1914 although because it was adapted from a pocket-watch chronograph, the crown was found at 12 o’clock.
Edouard’s son was responsible for developing the first stopwatch accurate to 1/100 of a second, called the Mikrograph. The Autavia name arrived in 1933 as a dashboard timer for automobiles and aviation (AUTomobile and AVIAtion).
Heuer watches found a particular affinity with racing drivers, who valued their stopwatch functions. As a result, Heuer began producing special versions of its timepieces specifically for individual race teams. After a secret collaboration with Breitling and Hamilton in the 1960s to develop automatic chronographs, Heuer released the Autavia, Carrera and Monaco models with automatic chronograph movements.
TAG isn’t just a chronograph brand, though. Not only do they have a long history of making capable dive and dress watches, but they are perhaps most notable today as being one of the first luxury watchmakers to get into the world of smartwatches – releasing their now best-selling Connected back in 2016.
Some of TAG Heuer’s watches have gained legendary status among the watch community so choosing a shortlist of the best has been no easy task. Regardless, we’ve risen to the occasion to bring you the must-own TAG Heuer timepieces.
In this best TAG Heuer watches article…
Carrera Chronograph

Reference Number: CBN2A1A.FC6537
Case Material: Stainless Steel
Price: AU$8,250
The Carrera was introduced in 1964 to commemorate the Carrera Panamericana road race in Mexico. At the time, it was the first chronograph designed specifically to measure times in car racing. These days, the Carrera collection is TAG’s most popular and diverse watch family.
This 44mm example is a particular highlight. Its handsome blue dial and ceramic bezel are contrasted by the brown rally-style perforated leather strap, a nice nod to the watch’s motorsports heritage.
Aquaracer Professional 300

Reference Number: WBP208B.BF0631
Case Material: Titanium
Price: AU$6,100
The Aquaracer’s legacy began with the Heuer ref. 844, a dive watch released in 1978 that inarguably set the standard for reliable dive watches and was adopted by professional and recreational divers all over the world. In 2022, the Aquaracer collection is similarly split between more casual watches and tougher dive watches, of which this Aquaracer Professional 300 is certainly the latter.
Crafted from sandblasted grade 2 titanium and boasting 300m of water resistance – as well as an eye-catching sunray green dial and bezel – this is one on-trend dive watch that’s a cut above the competition.
Connected Calibre E4

Reference Number: SBR8010.BT6255
Case Material: Stainless Steel
Price: AU$2,600
TAG Heuer got into the high-end smartwatch game early back in 2016 with their innovative Connected watch: an elegantly-executed design that has quickly become one of the brand’s best-selling products. TAG has actively improved and iterated on the Connected over the years, introducing new in-house apps as well as making it a doddle to customise, from different digital watch faces to a wide range of straps.
The current Calibre E4 family features two different case sizes, a 45mm and a 42mm model, the latter of which we’ve featured here. The 42mm model features a wafer-thin bezel (with the bezel scale hidden underneath the crystal) and a slightly rounder, thinner case – yet boasts all the capability of its bigger siblings.
Autavia Bronze

Reference Number: WBE5191.FC8276
Case Material: Bronze
Price: AU$5,550
The current generation of Autavia watches launched at Baselworld 2019 and was met with a mixed reception among enthusiasts because, for the first time, the Autavia dropped its chronograph sub-dials and was introduced as a three-hand timepiece. However, TAG Heuer was lauded for also announcing the Autavia would become a permanent collection as opposed to a model that was released sporadically over the years.
This iteration of one of TAG’s most overlooked models is inspired by vintage pilot’s watches and features a bronze case and a chocolate brown smoked dial. It’s a very retro look for TAG’s most retro-looking watch.
Monaco

Reference Number: CBL2111.BA0644
Case Material: Stainless Steel
Price: AU$10,250
First introduced in 1969 in honour of the Monaco Grand Prix, the Monaco was the world’s first square-cased automatic chronograph and was an immediate hit among watch fans. Its popularity only intensified after Steve McQueen wore one in the 1971 film Le Mans.
The modern TAG Heuer Monaco features octagonal chrono pushers; a thick, faceted sapphire crystal and is powered by TAG’s workhorse in-house Heuer 02 movement, which promises an 80h power reserve.
Carrera 3 Hands

Reference Number: WBN2111.BA0639
Case Material: Stainless Steel
Price: AU$4,150
A dresser, non-chronograph take on the Carrera, this Carrera 3 Hands with its silver sunray dial and clean, symmetrical looks is an exceptionally versatile daily wearer that won’t break the bank.
It also happens to be the watch of choice for Ryan Gosling’s Court Gentry (aka Sierra Six aka the eponymous character) in The Gray Man, Netflix’s blockbuster spy thriller. Now you know.
Connected Golf Edition

Reference Number: SBR8A81.EB0251
Case Material: Titanium
Price: AU$3,850
The Connected Calibre E4 is already the ultimate fitness watch but the Golf Edition adds amazing golf features into the mix. For example, it can automatically detect golf swings to allow users to track their performance in the app without having to activate the function by hand, so you don’t have to remember to track your drive, and can track hazards and distances on 40,000 golf courses around the world.
It’s immediately recognisable thanks to its white and green colour scheme as well as its cool dimpled strap, which has an integrated magnetic golf ball marker. Filled with features, it’s the ultimate watch for a golf enthusiast.
Formula 1 Quartz

Reference Number: WAZ101A.FC8305
Case Material: Stainless Steel
Price: AU$2,200
The Formula 1 was the first model to be released following TAG’s acquisition of Heuer in 1986 and became the first quartz-only model the company made. Since then, the company has relaxed its rule and also offers Formula 1 watches with a range of automatic movements. This model’s a quartz one, though.
Featuring a bold orange textured dial and white accents plus a black nylon strap with orange and grey touches, this piece is a fun tribute to the playful TAG Heuer Formula 1 models from the 80s and 90s as well as the flamboyant character of the motorsport that lends it its name. It’s also a highly affordable entry point into the world of TAG.
Aquaracer Professional 1000 Superdiver

Reference Number: WBP5A8A.BF0619
Case Material: Stainless Steel
Price: AU$9,650
To round off our list, we thought we’d share a proper deep-sea watch. Super by name and super by nature, the Aquaracer Professional 1000 Superdiver is easily differentiated from other Aquaracers thanks to its 1,000m water resistance, its clever dynamic crown guard, contrasting chapter ring and its chunkier, arrow-tipped hour hand, just to name a few features.
Despite all this – and its 45mm case size – it’s actually a deceptively wearable watch. Many hardcore dive watches are unwieldy things, but you could actually get away with wearing the Superdiver casually. It also represents exceptional value for a deep-sea diver, coming in at under $10k.
TAG Heuer Watches FAQ
Yes. TAG Heuer is a popular luxury brand known for making quality, high-end watches. Their products are especially well-liked by the younger, hipper crowd. TAG Heuer watches are also more affordably priced than other luxury watch brands like Rolex or Breitling. Your TAG Heuer timepiece should carry a unique serial number that matches the one engraved on the watch's case back. Also look for the embossed holographic seal on its accompanying document to check the authenticity of the certification. To maintain your TAG Heuer’s water resistance, it is recommended that you take it to the service centre every one to two years. A complete service should be carried out every four to six years. Are TAG Heuer watches worth the price?

Peter Bol is an Australian athlete and middle-distance runner who had the eyes of the nation watching him during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics when he made the final of the 800m track event. It was this achievement that caused many Australians to find out Peter’s backstory, and they found out he didn’t have the easiest upbringing.
Peter Bol Quick Facts
Name: Nagmeldin “Peter” Bol
Age: 28
DoB: 22 February 1994
Nationality: Sudanese
Height: 5 ft 10 in / 1.78m
Instagram: @pbol800 – 48.5k followers
Peter Bol Background
Peter Bol was born in Khartoum, Sudan – an area which is now known as South Sudan – in Northeast Africa. Peter and his family fled to Egypt when Peter was 4 years old. During the 1990s, Sudan was under the leadership of Omar al-Bashir, who in 1989, staged a military coup to overthrow the presiding democratic government.
Once his coup was successful, al Bashir introduced a totalitarian regime in Sudan (then known as the Republic of Sudan) and he continued to rule until 2019 when he was eventually overthrown. During al Bashir’s reign, he invited Osama bin Laden to the country, which saw the United States of America deem the country to be a state sponsor of terrorism.
Six years after fleeing to Egypt, Peter and his family migrated to Australia, initially arriving in Toowoomba, Queensland. Shortly after, the family moved to Perth, Western Australia. It has been previously claimed that Peter Bol and his family once lived in a refugee camp, but Bol insists this isn’t true.
Peter Bol Athletics Career

Peter Bol attended St. Norbert college in Perth on a basketball scholarship and he graduated with a degree in construction management from Curtin University. However, one of his school teachers noticed his innate running ability and convinced him to pursue an athletics career.
He agreed, and at the age of 16, he joined an athletics club and settled on the 800m as the event he was going to make his own. In 2013, Peter Bol won the junior championships in the 800m, setting a new national record at the same time, with a time of 1:48.90. His times improved over the next couple of years, posting a sub-1:48 in 2014 and a sub-1:47 in 2015.
Showing clear talent and promise, Peter moved to Melbourne later in 2015 to train with his new coach, Justin Rinaldi and training partner Alex Rowe, himself one of the fastest male Australian athletes over 800m
Rio 2016 Olympics
Peter Bol eyed up the 2016 Rio Olympics but had to qualify first. He did so, after posting a 1:45.78 time in Germany (he needed a 1:45.80 to qualify) and made sure he secured his spot when he posted a 1:45.41 a month later in Belgium.
While making it to the Rio 2016 Olympics was a huge achievement for Peter Bol, he, unfortunately, didn’t make it past the heats, having finished sixth with a 1:49.36.
Tokyo 2020 Olympics
Upon his return to Australia after the 2016 Olympics in Rio, Peter Bol began posting some seriously quick times, and he became the fourth-fastest Australian ever over 800m with a time of 1:44.56.
Peter secured his place at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics (delayed due to Covid) with a time of 1:44.88, which he set in the Gold Coast in June 2021. Peter fared much better in the heats at the 2020 Olympics, finishing second and posting a national record at the same time, with a 1:44.13.

Peter followed this up with a win in his semi-final in yet another Australian record time of 1:44.11, cementing his place in the 800m final and winning the support of the nation at the same time.
In the 800m final, Peter Bol was leading the pack until the very last bend, when his competitors found some extra energy and overtook, leaving Peter to finish in fourth place. However, it was the highest place finish for an Australian male in an individual track event since 1988.
Some 2.46 million Australians were tuned in on Channel 7 for Peter Bol’s 800m final but Peter didn’t let the pressure get to him, with Athletics Australia quoting him as saying “In simple terms, I was calm, focused, and having fun with it at the same time.”
Commonwealth Games 2022
Peter Bol will once again be running for Australia when he makes his Commonwealth Games debut in Birmingham, England. He’s definitely going to be eyeing up a medal and hopes to become the first Australian to win the men’s 800m since Peter Bourke did so in 1982.
And that elusive Commonwealth Games medal is now a very real possibility after the Australian runner cruised his way into the 800m final, after winning in a time of 1:47.01 seconds.
