Conor McGregor Shares Treadmill Workout That Could Get You Thrown Out Of The Gym

What Conor McGregor achieved when he put his fist on rampaging champion Jose Aldo’s chin in 2015 is still so incredible, no matter how many defeats he has seen since, we’ll always tune in to watch him fight.Fortunately, we may not have to wait too long: the 32-year-old is reportedly set to take on Dustin Poirier, who defeated McGregor in their last encounter, in a trilogy fight, on July 10.McGregor is now busily in muscle mode. Not only has he shown us how to wear short shorts in the gym without offending the public and shown us how training is different for the mega rich; he also appears to be working hard on his cardio.RELATED: Conor McGregor’s Latest Workout Reveals A Cardio Training Technique Everyone Should Be Using Yesterday McGregor posted a series of videos showing him undergoing an intense interval workout at the gym. The first video shows The Notorious whacking up the treadmill to full pelt, putting some serious incline on, then dipping his toe in the water…

… the next shows him jumping on and sprinting.Get this wrong and you could find yourself slingshotted out of the door of the gym (either by the force of the treadmill or by staff). Not satisfied, 10 hours later, McGregor, who appears to be in Dubai, posted another series of clips of yet more cardio. McGregor can be seen completing a homemade version of a triathlon (without the swimming). The triathlon, McGregor says, involves running 10km, cycling 20km, then running another 10km.Cardio has historically been one of McGregor’s weaknesses so it’s good to see him working on it. Maybe he’s found the hunger Georges St-Pierre said he needed to find after all?

Watchmaker Brings World’s Dirtiest Rolex Back From The Grave
Watchmaker Brings World’s Dirtiest Rolex Back From The Grave

Watchmakers are almost magicians. The amount of care, delicacy and expertise needed to build, repair, restore or service a mechanical watch is truly mind-blowing: to watch one of these talented craftsmen at work is like watching dark magic happen.Even more magical is how drastically a good service can change the appearance and function of a watch. Watches, especially high-end timepieces from the world’s most prestigious brands, are investments rather than simple consumer goods – to see them given a bit of love; a fresh lease on life by a watchmaker, is chicken soup for the watch fan’s soul. But there’s giving a watch a bit of love and there’s performing bloody miracles. Take this video we found on TikTok of a watchmaker restoring a Rolex Submariner they claim had been buried for years… A claim we’d be inclined to believe. Not only has the coveted diver’s watch lost its crystal after its years in the dirt, but grime had even got into the automatic rotor and movement itself. However, if the video’s to be believed, this skilled watchmaker was able to bring the ‘Sub’ back from the dead.

@blakebinsdbkoq77Repair a Rolex watch that has been buried in the soil for many years##tiktok ##luxury ##luxuywatch ##fyp ##watch ##rolex♬ We own the night – Pup Enenra

Some fans on social media have suggested that this might have been staged – it is a rather extraordinary amount of dirt, and for the watch to lose its crystal entirely like that seems rather unlikely. Whether that’s true or not, what’s undeniable is the repair’s results.RELATED: Rolex Yachtmaster-II Video Reveals True Cost Of Polishing Your WatchIronically, Rolex itself used to run an ad campaign back in the 50s boasting of how their watches could survive being buried for four years and still work after “a little work by the Rolex Repair service”.We guess that claim still holds water in 2021, although we rather suspect that bringing your Rollie into your local service centre these days would raise more than a few eyebrows.

Image: eBay
This video also speaks to a culture of repairing and reusing that we’ve largely lost in today’s modern consumerist culture, especially where watches are concerned. Most people these days, if they even wear a watch, opt for a smartwatch or cheap quartz number; products that aren’t inherently designed to be kept for a long time or easily repaired.A fine Swiss watch might be expensive, but if you look after it, it can be something that’ll last you a lifetime… Or at the very least, they’re something worth repairing if they do break. Remember the famous slogan – “You never actually own a Patek Philippe. You merely look after it for the next generation.” Is that something you can do with an Apple Watch?Food for thought.

Thai Actress’ Lavish Holiday Photos Spark Controversial ‘Travel Shaming’ Debate
Thai Actress’ Lavish Holiday Photos Spark Controversial ‘Travel Shaming’ Debate

The travel shaming debate has exploded in all corners of the world in the last 12 months. From Guardian columnists claiming influencers who flaunt their rippling abs and perfectly buffed teeth to the camera “in some Dubai eyesore built by exploited workers” while claiming “actually it IS work” should be praised for uniting the country (in head shaking) to screaming tabloid attacks on those who dare to sip cocktails abroad, there are a variety of perspectives on the matter. After the UK saw a spate of influencers jet off to Dubai, the aforementioned Guardian columnist wrote: “Why so many haters? With precious little new comedy on TV, these globetrotting workaholics are performing a public service.”Though this remark was made with tongue glued to cheek, the point remains: there is a ~conversation~ to be had around travel right now, and fits of morality by those who would kill to be having a cocktail on a beach (“but – failing that – would settle for threatening to kill the person who is having the cocktail on the beach“) are not too helpful. The other side of the coin has a point too: we also need to encourage human solidarity, sacrifice, and for people to do the right thing.

Enter: the latest travel shaming debate to grace our newsfeeds. Thai actress Araya Alberta Hargate (aka Chompoo) is facing criticism on Twitter for appearing to have sauntered over to Thai island Koh Kood after the date the government banned tourists following two hotel employees testing positive for coronavirus.

One Twitter user @iamKohChang took to Twitter with the following: “No tourists are allowed to visit Koh Kood at the moment. Obviously, that doesn’t apply if you’re wealthy and famous…. Chompoo & family at Soneva Kiri.”Another user asked him: “When did curfew begin? She’s already been there a few days.”As DMARGE reported last year (when we interviewed someone who was visited by police after posting ‘throwback’ photos), it’s possible, in this instance, too, that people are working themselves into a lather over nothing.RELATED: The Ethics Of ‘Travel Snitching’; The Tourism Industry’s Latest Trend

Be that as it may, @iamKohChang responded: “The ban on tourists was from 22 April onwards. On her Instagram she was in Bangkok then, and first pic from Koh Kood, standing by the plane, was posted on 23 April.”Another user pointed out/claimed: “Soneva Kiri has their aeroplane to bring people in from Bangkok.”

Today Line reports, “Very happy for the heroine of the soup star, the young woman… who recently wielded her husband… take a twin son… go on vacation at a popular resort in Koh Kood…How great it is to be spicy,” (translated from Thai).KHMERLOAD reports (also translated), “However, as you know, in Thailand, there is also a strong outbreak of Kovid-19 disease. It is observed that the family of the actress above continues to travel as a family with lovely children and a husband as usual, despite the Kovid explosion, is not a problem for the picture. She did not.”

“In fact, recently, the actress posted a lot of family photos, very happy and refreshed while riding on a boat on the sea, that is, due to a trip to the sea. A Chompoo ‘s family resort in Thailand is private, with no crowds.”

In a recent article published on Vice entitled, ‘So, You Went On A Pandemic Vacay Anyway. Now Should You Instagram It?’ it was reported that Indian author Shobhaa De has said of pandemic vacay photo-sharing, “It is the height of vulgarity.”

“Enjoy Maldives by all means. You are blessed if you can get such a break in these bleak times. But do everyone a favour… keep it private.”

De reportedly said this while sharing Bollwood celebrity manager Rohini Iyer’s Insta Story, which contained a similar message.“You’re not only coming across as brainless but also completely blind and tone-deaf,” Iyer remarked, Vice reports. “This is not the time to boost your Instagram numbers. This is the time to step up and help or if you can’t do anything, then shut up and stay home. Or stay quiet in your holiday home… masked up. No photos. This is not fashion week or Kingfisher calendar time!”On top of that, ethics expert Bruce Weinstein, told Vice, “Making ethical decisions involves, in part, considering the consequences of our actions… I don’t see any compelling reason [for people like me] to post the photos on social media, but there are several compelling reasons for not doing so. It would be wonderful if we all cared deeply about the good fortune our friends have that we don’t enjoy. But that’s not the world we live in.”It should be pointed out the ‘pro vs. con’ dynamic is different for Chompoo, who is a celebrity and who makes a living off exactly this kind of exposure (where as Weinstein was talking about people like himself). In the meantime, Koh Kood continues to look as attractive as ever…

Sacha Baron Cohen Was The Best Dressed Man At The Oscars
Sacha Baron Cohen Was The Best Dressed Man At The Oscars

From a style perspective, awards shows like the Oscars can be both truly exciting and inspirational as well as depressing.Depressing how? Well, most men turn up to these shows in classic black or white tie, with very few variations on that theme. Women, on the other hand, are both far more able and willing to experiment with their red carpet attire, showing off dramatic designer couture. The 93rd Academy Awards, which played out over the weekend, was particularly dire as far as men’s fashion is concerned, as the lasting impact of The Spicy Cough means we saw a significantly reduced ceremony in Los Angeles, with many attendees tuning in from screenings abroad. Fewer people meant less variety in outfits, and it was all a bit ho-hum.Except for Sacha Baron Cohen. Tuning in from Sydney alongside wife Isla Fisher, the 49-year-old British comedian – known for his satirical characters such as Ali G, Erran Morad and most famously, Borat Sagdiyev – was easily the best-dressed man of the Oscars, who debuted a fun twist on the tux whilst still staying rather dapper.Cohen contrasted a dark brown jacket and bowtie with some light beige trousers, opting to skip the socks and brogues and go for some sleek heeled loafers. It’s a summery yet still appropriately formal look that stood him out from all the boring numbers other male nominees opted for. You don’t have to reinvent the wheel, people.

Image: Getty
The colour palette is also a fun little callback to some of the intentionally terrible suits he’s worn in character as Borat: the fictional Kazakh journalist has a passion for grey and brown suits – as well as bright green mankinis, of course. The outfit is a masterclass in how to wear brown properly – we’re looking at you, Joe Jonas…RELATED: Joe Jonas Goes Down Down To Brown Town With 90s Era OutfitCohen was nominated for two awards: Best Supporting Actor for his role as Abbie Hoffman in The Trial of the Chicago 7, and Best Adapted Screenplay for Borat Subsequent Moviefilm. The much-anticipated Borat sequel was the subject of a third nomination, too – Maria Bakalova, who played Borat’s daughter Tutar, was nominated for Best Supporting Actress. The big piece of Oscars news was Nomadland securing Best Picture along with Best Director for Chloé Zhao. Zhao, who is Chinese, became the first woman of colour to be awarded Best Director, and only the second woman to win the award since Kathryn Bigelow’s win in 2010 for The Hurt Locker.

‘Essential Area’ Luxury Car Brands Are Falling Behind In
‘Essential Area’ Luxury Car Brands Are Falling Behind In

When you’re spending six figures plus on a high-end automobile, you’d be well within your rights to have high expectations.Normally, they shape up – there are very few truly bad cars on the market today, especially at the pointer end of the market. Luxury cars have never been more luxurious, from the quality of the materials that they’re made from to the utility and performance they can deliver. The void between a Mitsubishi Mirage and a Mercedes-Benz S-Class is vast. But one area many high-end brands drop the ball in is infotainment. Comfort and performance aside, the one thing most people want out of a car these days – the bottom line – is for their phone to Bluetooth connect to it quickly and easily, and not to have to need a degree in computer science to play their music or turn the air conditioning down.Yet many high-end marques, despite the care and attention to detail lavished on other areas of their cars, are guilty of offering sub-standard or outdated infotainment systems that are easily – and very frequently – shown up by even economy brands. It’s a real frustration to drivers when they’ve invested so much in a car that’s otherwise entirely impressive… It’s a ‘missed it by that much’ feeling. For example, Ferrari’s popular 488 range, plus the F8 Tributo and 812 Superfast, all lack a centre touchscreen (or even screen), instead opting for a small colour display within the gauge cluster, operated by buttons on the dashboard. It’s a rather clunky system for cars that start at half a million Aussie dollars, particularly when even MG’s system is so much better.RELATED: Surprising Car Brand Becomes Unexpected Australian Sales SuccessMaybe you can chalk that up to Italian idiosyncrasy, but even Lexus – typically one of the most meticulous car brands – leaves a lot to be desired. While Lexus’ infotainment options offer Apple CarPlay and Android Auto (which is a damn sight more than many other luxury brands’ systems and really the bare minimum for an infotainment system in 2021) the trackpad-like Lexus Remote Touch Interface remains one of the most frustrating on the market.

Clockwise from top left: Ferrari 488 GTB, Audi A8, Genesis GV80, Lexus LS 500 F Sport.
Not all auto maker’s systems are created equal, however. Audi’s infotainment options stand out as particularly intuitive: despite going heavy on the screen space, they don’t commit the Tesla sin of doing away with buttons entirely. Many other marques under the Volkswagen umbrella also take advantage of Audi’s infotainment architecture, such as Lamborghini and Porsche.Upstart luxury player Genesis also embarrasses much more established brand’s systems with their incredibly easy-to-use Integrated Controller, which can even recognise your handwriting so you don’t need to type things out laboriously. It’s neither too complicated (a common infotainment sin that brands like BMW used to be particularly guilty of) nor too basic: it’s effortless, which is what you really want from a high-end car.Of course, there’s the argument to be made that you’re not buying these sorts of vehicles for the in-car tech anyway; an argument that’s particularly strong when you consider performance-focused marques. As this Quora commenter passionately puts it, “why on earth would you play any music when you have a V8, or even better a V12, symphony at your right foot’s disposal? Covering the engine melody with any other sound would be like going to the finest restaurant and then put a ton of supermarket ketchup on top of each serve.”

“If it wasn’t clear yet, mate, you’re in a bloody Ferrari. If you wanted [a] fancy graphics computer screen to look at with 3D Google Maps, a ton of multimedia options and a million functions, you would buy an Audi.”

They might have a point, actually.

‘One In A Million’ Sydney Housing Market Coincidence Sees Two Lucky Couples Score Big
‘One In A Million’ Sydney Housing Market Coincidence Sees Two Lucky Couples Score Big

While the rest of us skulk around house auctions and curse our luck (or have nothing saved thanks to our weekly avocado-on-toast blowouts), some Australians are frolicking outside the box to score the house of their dreams.Enter: Rafael and Danielle Sperber. In the market for a bigger place but owning a North Bondi Semi, they were taken around a large freestanding family home in Vaucluse by Ray White Double Bay’s Warren Ginsberg. As realestate.com.au reports, “Property records show the [Vaucluse] home was in the name of Ilana and Jeffrey Akres, who bought it $1.8m in 2007.”“It offered four bedrooms, three bathrooms and off-street parking for two cars, along with stylish finishes, a large garden, ocean views from terrace and even a swimming pool.”“They [the Sperbers] loved it,” Ginsberg told realestate.com.au.

The Vaucluse home. Image: realestate.com.
“So the Sperbers purchased the Vaucluse property [for, independent sources told realestate.com.au, somewhere in the mid-$5m range] then listed [on the market] their designer four-bedroom, two-bathroom semi… in North Bondi,” (realestate.com.au).In a twist of fate, the Sperbers then sold their North Bondi Semi (which they reportedly bought in 2004 for $1,475,000, in the mid $4 million range, according to realestate.com.au’s independent sources) to the former owners of the Vaucluse house they had just bought.Ginsberg told realestate.com.au of the occurrence: “The owners of 309 were downsizing and wanted to move to North Bondi and they’d been looking at semis in North Bondi.”

“So since I’d just put the [Sperber’s] North Bondi semi on the market, I took the owners of 309 Military Road through 33 Stewart Street and they loved it and they bought it before auction.”

One in a million? According to the Reserve Bank Of Australia, “While housing turnover varies over time, on average, around 6 per cent of the housing stock, or around 500,000 dwellings, change ownership each year.”Close enough, we’d say. Probably rarer (we highly doubt this kind of occurrence happens more than once every two years).Commenters on realestate.com.au’s Facebook page (where the article was published with the caption: “Ever eyed off another person’s property? Why not swap?”) took to their keyboards with a variety of remarks (see: “the chutzpah”).From “Wasn’t a swap.. the Vaucluse home was worth an extra $Mil” to “convenient” many threw their thoughts at the post.Though not a direct house swap the likes of which your grandparents might be weighing up with their English penpals, it’s still a savvy way of circumventing the chaos of an auction, we’d suggest.

Wild Footage Shows 300ft Superyacht Squeezing Through Pancake-Thin Dutch Canals
Wild Footage Shows 300ft Superyacht Squeezing Through Pancake-Thin Dutch Canals

In scenes that wouldn’t look out of place in a Banksy mural, a 300ft (94 metre) superyacht has been spotted sneaking through the narrow canals of the Netherlands.

It’s not a dream though: photographer Tom van Oossanen snapped the astonishing scenes as Project 817, built by Dutch shipyard Feadship, was guided from its Kaag Island facility to the North Sea at Rotterdam last week.

“In a series of stunning images, the vessel, one of the largest to be launched in 2021, is guided through the water with tugboats, passing by houses and churches, as crowds look on in amazement,” CNN Travel reported on Thursday.

Oossanen told CNN Travel four to six superyachts are transferred along this route each year before going for sea trials. Few, however, are as big as Project 817, “likely to be known as Viva when it officially launches,” CNN Travel reports.

Oossanen also spoke to The Daily Mail, explaining that tugging the 88ft high vessell through houses, church spires and windmills, and squeezing its 44ft wide body though canals, some of which were only 46ft (14m) wide, was a “very delicate operation.”

He explained to The Daily Mail that pontoons were attached to the front and back of the yacht to lift her out of the water slightly, otherwise she would have been too deep for the canals.

The crew also “covered the sides of the ship with very thin wooden boards wrapped in fabric to protect her pearl-white finish at the tightest spots,” The Daily Mail reports.

Oossanen shared with DMARGE that the vessel was specifically designed to fit the waterway and to be able to make its way out.

“An extra centimetre wouldn’t fit most likely. 94 metres on the waterline is the actual limit to be able to make some turns.”

He also told us, “As far as I know the locals love it! They’re always watching and taking loads of pictures.”

Oossanen also said he believes this may be the last time a boat this big takes this route, due to a new facility opening in Amsterdam with the capacity to build superyachts up to 160 metres long.

“The Dutch government,” CNN Travel reports, “has also confirmed plans to widen the locks at nearby Kornwerderzand, which ultimately means larger vessels will be able to sail directly from Makkum to the North Sea in the future.”

“They can easily build up to 160 meters in a new facility, so why would they still transfer such a big boat through all these canals and go through all the hassle?” Oossanen asked CNN Travel.

“Knowing the inside information, I think seeing a 94-meter doing this route is either going to take a while, or might not happen [again] at all.”

Speaking to DMARGE, Oossanen added, “It will happen again, but a 94-metre vessel in the near future is quite unlikely.”

All the more reason to kick back and enjoy this rare view.

American Man’s Incredible Transformation Proves Anything Is Possible When It Comes To Fitness
American Man’s Incredible Transformation Proves Anything Is Possible When It Comes To Fitness

Everyone loves a feel good story, but this one comes with blood, sweat and tears.

An American man, and Los Angeles Lakers fan, inspired by Kobe Bryant, decided to start working out after Kobe’s final game on April the 13th, 2016.

A Reddit user in the r/nextfuckinglevel community this morning took to the forum to share the transformed man’s results, claiming he lost 170lbs (77kg).

“After Kobe’s final game, he was inspired to start working out and ended up losing 170 lbs,” the post read, alongside a photo showing the transformation.

Image: Reddit (via @huertaweightgoals)

Though many Reddit users expressed their doubts this was the same person (in both images), the man himself – one Christopher Huerta – appears to have chimed into the comments to identify himself, linking to his Instagram account, which seems to document his journey.

Though there were various cynical comments along the lines of “And his eyesight got better” and “Never skip eye day” other Reddit users chimed in to claim when you lose weight your eyesight can indeed improve.

“You know, while you may be joking, sometimes weight does affect eyesight.”

Another more eagle-eyed user said: “He’s holding his glasses in his left hand.”

Then there was one user who questioned what Kobe being good at basketball had to do with Christopher wanting to lose weight.

“I just have a hard time imagining this guy put all this work in because he saw Kobe play basketball,” the user wrote.

“Like if Kobe wasn’t good at basketball this guy wouldn’t have been inspired to lose weight?”

“It’s a weird thing. It would be one thing if LeBron was known for weight loss. But he’s not at all. It would be like a post saying, ‘Stephen Hawking inspired this guy to run a marathon.'”

Yet others pointed out this photo has been thrown around before, with a Bleacher Report article from 2017 showing Christopher, who is now 29 (according to his Instagram account), appears to have been in shape for quite some time now (with some ups and downs along the way).

RELATED: Jaden Smith’s Remarkable Body Transformation Gives Hope To Ectomorphs Everywhere

It’s still worthy of celebration though, with Christopher’s Instagram account showing his continued progress with posts from as recently as three days ago (and explaining his situation further).

His new challenge? Lockdown.

Other Reddit users congratulated Christopher for his efforts: “Well done to this guy, what a transformation.”

“A radiant smile that exudes self confidence can transform someone into a whole new person…and that what I think happened here. Good on ya, mate!”

“Great job! That’s a lot of hard work and dedication. Grats buddy!”

“Not easy, especially when you think you will notice a difference after a week. But respect whoever continues to fight.”

RELATED: Risks Behind Christian Bale’s ‘Insane’ Body Transformations, According To Experts

They also said his journey had inspired them, as well as sharing some insights of their own.

“Just wanted to say thank you, have problems doing my training myself but you encourage me,” one Reddit user wrote.

“You have to first convince yourself you are a different person,” another opined in response. “Then all the behaviours that are dragging you down are now not the kind a person like you does.”

“Basically you have to make the behaviors you no longer want to engage in a threat to your self-image, because that’s the strongest motivator you’ve got.”

“The first few weeks are always tough,” said another. “Once you establish a routine, it’s a little easier to motivate yourself, because at that point it’s not about convincing yourself to make a change, it’s convincing yourself to keep doing what you’re already doing.”

There’s your Monday dose of motivation, served hot.

Joe Jonas Goes Down Down To Brown Town With 90s Era Outfit
Joe Jonas Goes Down Down To Brown Town With 90s Era Outfit

The Jonas Brothers are a Hollywood rarity: child stars who’ve managed to stay sane and normal as they’ve entered adulthood.Since leaving the Disney bubble Nick, Kevin and Joe have all flourished and become more distinct individuals, which is normal (and healthy) – but something they still all have in common is a real flair for fashion, with Joe a particular standout. But Joe’s latest look might give some fans pause for thought. Out and about in Los Angeles with his wife, Game of Thrones actress Sophie Turner, the 31-year-old musician rocked a rather 90s-inspired work shirt and pants combination, worn over the top of a low-slung white tank top and a beaded necklace. The workwear-inspired fit is actually rather good, but jeez, it’s really quite brown, isn’t it? It’s less ‘California skater’ and more ‘municipal sanitation worker’… We applaud him for experimenting with an out-there colour but the matching top and bottoms make this look somewhat risky.

Image: Getty
Jonas also added some luxurious touches to the outfit with some Converse x Kim Jones Chuck Taylor All Star 70 sneakers and a rose gold Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Tourbillon Extra-Thin watch (ref. 26522OR.OO.1220OR.01) worth around 250,000 USD (~323,000 AUD). It’s not all brown town.Actually, the Jonas Brothers are known for their rather exceptional taste in high-end timepieces, the boys having a distinct love for gold – in all its forms. They’re normally quite dedicated Rolex fans so it’s nice to see Joe dig this AP out of the wardrobe.RELATED: Joe Jonas Spotted Wearing The Watch You’ll Be Rocking A Year From NowJoe is currently part of the cast for an upcoming Korean War movie titled Devotion, which is being filmed in Georgia and South Carolina.
