When it comes to getting ripped like your favourite celebrities or sports stars, there are several factors that come into play. Not only do you need to have a foundationally similar body to them (height, for example), but you need to follow a strict diet plan to work in tandem with your training. Oh, and great financial resources, as well as personal chefs and trainers helps, too. Or at least, that’s what we’ve been led to believe.
LeBron James‘ diet has recently been put under the microscope and may have delivered the good news we’ve all been longing for: junk food can be good for you.
We reported some time ago that the LA Lakers star was a champion of the Ketogenic diet, one where you have to be strict with the foods you eat to turn your body into a fat-burning machine. It’s a tough ask for many of us with hectic schedules to find the time to be diligent when it comes to dinner time. But his former teammates have now claimed that LeBron likes to have ‘cheat days’ just as much as the rest of us.
View this post on Instagram
Speaking to The Athletic (via News.com.au), former Cleveland Cavaliers teammate Tristan Thompson said LeBron “has the worst f***ing diet ever*.
“He has like five french toast [for breakfast] drowns it in syrup with strawberries and bananas. Then he has like a four-egg omelette and then he goes and f***ing dunks on somebody. It doesn’t make sense.”
It’s not just breakfast time that LeBron feels the need to pig out, either, as Tristan adds, “He eats desserts with every meal. He’ll come with his one-week diet, vegan crap, but he literally eats like it doesn’t make sense. He’s really a specimen.”
“He eats like shit.”
Keen to see if the junk food diet could work for him, Tristan quickly found out LeBron is in a class of his own. “I started gaining weight and said, ‘F*** this’. I mean it works for him. He loves sweets. He eats desserts and French toast. It’s crazy how his body just burns it.”
Clearly then, LeBron isn’t the healthy eating poster boy we’ve all come to assume, although we should remind you that carbs don’t make you fat. Overeating does. Carbs are highly beneficial, especially to athletes such as LeBron.
But it’s the amount he can put away, combined with the performance he can give that baffled another former Cavaliers teammate, Kyle Korver, who adds that the often-lauded ‘greatest player of all time’ really is a marvel to behold.
“One of the years in the playoffs, we’d always do the Versaclimber because there would always be seven to 10 days between series.”
“We do this challenge, and I have never thrown up from doing cardio. And I am just, I feel like I might throw up. There are those benches on the side of the court, and I’m liked keeled over asking for the stretcher.”
View this post on Instagram
“LeBron walked off the Versaclimber, onto the court, gets the ball, looks at the far basket, full spring goes at it, jumps from outside the charge circle and windmill dunks it. And I’m like keeled over, trying to breathe.”
“That is the most amazing thing I have ever seen anyone do. It was unbelievable.”
Of course, LeBron isn’t the only man to feed his gluttonous cravings, as The Rock is always more than happy to show his followers the large portion sizes of junk food he indulges in. Although he justifies it with the hardcore workouts he then puts his body through.
So forget trying to keep up with the latest diet crazes. As long as you put the hard work in at the gym, you can earn yourself a cheat meal or two during the week.

Soccer jerseys and soccer kits aren’t just something to wear to the pub or to a game whenever your team is playing, but they are a staple piece within the wardrobes of many men. You don’t even need to support a team to be able to wear one either, as some designs are so cool that they easily veer into streetwear territory.Although, despite it looking ridiculously good, the less said about Fiorentina’s controversial soccer jersey, the better.Manufacturers are very much playing up to this fact, providing limited edition tops that say more and more about the culture of the team they represent. They’ve even been known to work in collaborations, as highlighted by the sensational joint effort between Paris Saint Germain and Nike Air Jordan. There was once a time when fans of a particular team had to wait two years before their side released a new version of a home or away kit, but brands such as Nike, Adidas and Puma pay soccer teams such huge amounts of money to produce their shirts, they now create new designs every season. And most teams even have a third kit and a training kit. Some die-hard fans are up in arms about this, but for those of us who looking for something stylish and handy for the odd kick around, it just means more choice, and even better, reduced prices come the end of the season! But bear in mind that there should be some method behind buying your new soccer jersey. The last thing you want is someone asking why you bought one from a particular team without a good answer. A lot of people buy shirts from places they have visited, or because their family heritage goes back to a certain place, limited editions, collaborations, or of course because they actually support the team! The biggest football shirt manufacturers such as Nike, Adidas and Puma are creating tops with a modern fit and with sweat-wicking fabrics that work with casual wear like never before, blurring the lines between sports clothing and fashion trends. So if you want a cool statement piece or just something classy to wear for a kick about, there are a lot of great options out there from the past and present, and here we’ve noted a few that have particularly caught out attention across recent seasons.

Finding a date in today’s world is as easy as the swipe of a thumb. Or at least, that’s the theory.
We’ve come a long way from going up to a lady in a bar, charming her with some buffoonery and walking away with her number and a future meet-up. This has been replaced by app-based dating. Spearheaded by the likes of Tinder, we can now swipe through countless people, basing our initial attraction mostly on looks and occasionally on the bios they fill out…but mostly on look. It’s shallow, but it’s the way the world now works.
I – a single man – have tried the biggest dating apps: Tinder, Bumble and Hinge, with (let’s not beat around the bush here) no success. I’m the first to admit, I’m pretty fussy. A man needs to hold some sort of standard, right? But on the occasion that a lady, should, in my esteemed opinion be deemed lucky to warrant my approval based on a few pictures and some words, it soon becomes apparent the feeling is far from mutual.
To try and solve my serial dating problem, I decided to be ‘that guy’ and sign up to Tinder Gold (and ignored this expert advice in the process). Gold is Tinder’s premium tier, that unlocks numerous features, including being able to see who has liked my profile so I can review theirs before making my decision.
For the record, Tinder isn’t the only app that offers pay-to-access features, other apps such as The League let you pay to move your profile to the front of the pile. But that app is for business wankers, and I like to think I’m not part of that crowd.
With Tinder Gold, the theory goes that by being able to see who’s already liked me, my chances of a match increase exponentially (or, at least, it saves me time and thumb-ache). Again, so the theory goes.
Here’s what I really found.
Getting Tinder Gold Doesn’t Mean You’ll Always Get Likes
Just because I’ve paid to see likes, doesn’t mean I’m guaranteed to get any. Paying Tinder’s monthly fee doesn’t put you into an exclusive club (other than the lonely hearts club, of course). You do get the benefit of being able to activate a super boost more regularly than those who don’t pay, which is meant to increase your chances of appearing in someone else’s feed, but it still doesn’t guarantee you’ll get that right swipe.
I’m Still Fussy
I’m not the type to go sleeping around. If I’m going to date someone, I want to go into it believing there will at least be a chance of a second or third and not just a night under the sheets. So that doesn’t mean I’m going to swipe right on every profile that likes mine. And more often than not, the ones who do like mine are most certainly not my type. I’m not entirely sure what ‘my type’ is, but I know that most of the girls that pop up ain’t it.
But hey, at least I can revel in the fact I’d likely have no more success if I turned to the classic method of picking up.
View this post on Instagram
There Are Glitches
Once you purchase Tinder Gold, you have to prepare yourself for a barrage of notifications. Every time someone likes you, you get a prompt pop up on your phone. I’ve lost count of the number of times this has happened, only for me to open the app and to find no profiles at all. Tinder clearly likes to prey on the mindset of the desperately single.
It’s Still Just Tinder
Believe it or not, there have been times when I’ve matched with someone. But this is when Tinder becomes the same old Tinder. I’ll open with a line or two, or perhaps a gif (I’m acutely aware that the girl always expects the guy to start proceedings: something I take issue with, but that’s another story) to then get zero response. This brings up several feelings, the first of which is bemusement. They liked me first, I reciprocated, started a conversation but then they decide they were no longer interested. There is, of course, a chance it’s to do with my opening lines, but I’m a witty Englishman, so that can’t be it…
Not All Profiles Are Real
This probably won’t be news to most people, but Tinder is subject to its fair share of fake accounts. How do I know they’re fake? Because I’ll get three or four likes in instant succession, all of which have the exact same bio, usually containing a phone number and the implication that they’re ‘easy’. It may work on some people, but not this guy.
I’m A Self-Sabotager
There have been times when I’ve had 20 or 30 likes, staring at me in the face, many of whom could have been ‘the one’ (if such a thing exists). But I’ve swiped left on more occasions than I’ve swiped right, or I’ve left a few profiles hanging for a few days while I make up my mind. I’ve paid for help and I don’t even use it. I’m a terrible human being.
You Realise How Desperate You Are
It’s time to come clean. I didn’t buy Tinder Gold just to test out to write this article. I bought it because I was curious to see exactly what kind of people are liking my profile. I’ve not even admitted that to my friends. I wanted to make the process of securing a date that much easier, that I was willing to part with hard-earned cash. Writing this fact down has already made me question whether I renew for another month or not.
View this post on Instagram
The Takeaway
Ultimately, I have no doubts that Tinder Gold will increase your chances of a date tenfold, but only if you’re not like me and you actually say yes to most of the profiles that swipe right on yours. I don’t regret paying for it one bit, as it’s confirmed that I’m not willing to go for ‘just anyone’, but that same attitude is also the reason why I’m still single.

When fashion labels hold their annual runway shows, it’s obvious all eyes will be on the clothes, whether it be the models or the guests in attendance. It’s certainly true for Coach’s Fall/Winter 2020 show, although one man caught our attention, not for his outfit, but for his watch.
Michael B. Jordan so often features in our celebrity style pieces here at DMARGE, as he consistently shows us how we should be all be dressing. But it’s his partnership with Piaget – a watch brand we don’t tend to see celebrities wearing – that piques our interest the most, and his watch of choice for the Coach FW2020 show during New York Fashion Week is no different. That’s because he was spotted wearing a sublime Gouverneur watch, the likes of which will set you back around A$80,000.

The Gouverneur on Michael’s wrist features an 18K Rose Gold case, the company’s Perpetual Calendar 855P movement, day/date display, day/night indicator, and is capable of displaying two time zones.
Michael’s Piaget was the perfect accessory to his Coach trench coat, which not only bucks the trend for the traditional, weather-resistant cotton gabardine material, but the deep red colour is a far cry from the more popular beige, taupe or camel. Otherwise, Coach’s leather trench is business as usual: wide lapels, double-breasted fastening, and a belt. It certainly adds an extra layer of premium luxury to Michael’s otherwise casual outfit of a white t-shirt, khaki pants, and Coach sneakers.

It also has Instagram hypebeasts going into meltdown, with users sending comments such as, “that trench fire”, “that leather trench tho [sic]” and “smoove [sic]”. Michael’s long leather coat won’t be available until next season, but if you want to jump aboard the trench coat bandwagon now, you can nab this more traditional version from Coach for A$1,695.
Yet more evidence that Michael B. Jordan is one of the best-dressed men in Hollywood.

We all think of ourselves as smart. But most of us neglect to use that brainpower to improve our workouts.
Instead, you rock up to the gym with the enthusiasm of a bored French intellectual and slouch home.
Though this is a slight exaggeration, the point remains: many of us just go through the motions.
There is, however, a fix, that could take you from ‘skinny boy’ to Arnie. And while it sounds simple, it’s crucial. Motivating your mind.
View this post on Instagram
Enter: change expert and founder of the Ultimate You Change Centres, Andy Anderson, who we recently shot a bunch of questions to understand how we can be better mental citizens in the gym.
He then broke down his neurolinguistic programming, motivational coaching and positive psychology for us. And there’s good news: we’re not lazy – just inefficient and unmotivated!
“There’s a difference between a quick win and sustained long-term results. Anyone can be good in the good times and lose 5kg quickly if they really want to, but if you want to achieve long-lasting fitness gains, you have to change more than just your habits and rituals,” Andy told us.
View this post on Instagram
“You need to break down your values, your limiting beliefs and belief systems, your unconscious fears, your personal identity and how you see yourself,” he said. He then added – if you want to hit long term goals – you need to “manage your self-talk and understand what triggers you motivationally in both a positive and an unresourceful way.”
“If shifted correctly and at the right time, all these things are going to help you transform faster and sustain long-term results.”
According to Andy, “If your inner world is negative, in turmoil and unmotivated, then your outer world and your body are going to [reflect] that.” Thus: “We work with our clients to help them gain self-awareness of those elements. Because once they do, they can change them. We do this through… workshops where we can deep dive with them and group scenarios to help them gain understanding so they can apply it to their training.”
“Your outer world is a reflection of your inner world.”
That all sounds great. But also flowery. So what does Andy say to those that are as cynical about motivational coaching as they are about self-help pyramid schemes?
View this post on Instagram
“It’s not a quick job – it’s ongoing. People often say that motivation doesn’t last, but neither does showering – that’s why we recommend it daily!”, Andy says.
“If you shower every day, why aren’t you focusing on having a good internal dialogue and a positive narrative every day? Those things are as important as showering, but we don’t generally pay attention to them.”
Fair enough.
Andy also told us that what differentiates his training watching a motivational Youtube video is that it is tailored: “Those things [Youtube videos, Spotify playlists] are great motivational sparks, but if you want those sparks to turn into a flame, you need to know how you can make those tools applicable to your life specifically.”
“Everyone is facing different fears and challenges, so there’s no one size fits all. It’s a very personal process for each person and I guess that’s what makes it one of the best investments you can make for your mental, physical and emotional health.”
He then said: “If you have something that’s working for you, that’s great. Stick with it! But people generally struggle and need help. This is why we have a nation that is suffering the highest levels of obesity ever and a real mental health crisis as well.”
Why?
Andy reckons it’s because “Mindset training really isn’t something we are taught in schools.” The silver lining to this though is that, generally, it is “life-changing” once they get the hang of it.
Food for thought people. Food for thought.

Is there anything worse than settling in for a two-hour flight, only for the passenger in front to immediately shove their seat in your face?
Perhaps: you could be on a two-hour flight, gently recline for a little doze, and have the person behind kick the living shit out of you.
Who’s in the right?
This is a question that has split opinion for decades. Generally speaking though, frequent flyers will tell you it is an unwritten rule that you don’t recline your seat on flights four hours or less.
Between four and six is a grey area, and from six onwards (mealtimes aside), it is perfectly reasonable to recline your seat.
Disaster struck, however, on a recent American Eagle (an American Airlines subsidiary) flight from New Orleans to Charlotte, North Carolina.
A little concerned that @AmericanAir didn’t feel this was a problem.
Not sure about the rest of you, but I would surely consider someone continually tapping on the back of my seat to be a nuisance. https://t.co/DmRKUpA36O pic.twitter.com/Xts7hfQAcw
— Amica Ali
(@AmicaAli) February 8, 2020
Despite the flight only being two hours, and despite there being an unwritten rule you don’t recline your seat on short journeys, a woman allegedly travelling back from a teacher’s convention broke the sacred law of frequent flyer etiquette and reclined her seat.
On top of that, it appears the man behind her couldn’t recline his. Chaos ensued, with a video (taken by the woman, Wendi Williams) showing the man continually tapping (the woman would argue pummelling) the back of her seat.
After much consideration, and exhausting every opportunity for #AmericanAirlines to do the right thing, I’ve decided to share my assault, from the passenger behind me, and the further threats, from an American Airline flight attendant. She offered him a complimentary cocktail!
— wendi (@steelersfanOG) February 8, 2020
Wendi with an i took to Twitter to expose her the man’s actions in a clip that’s now gone viral, being picked by Fox News and News.com.au, to name a few.
“After much consideration, and exhausting every opportunity for American Airlines to do the right thing, I’ve decided to share my assault, from the passenger behind me, and the further threats, from an American Airlines flight attendant,” Ms Williams said.
“She offered him a complimentary cocktail!”
As News.com.au reports, “The woman said she was travelling back from a teacher’s convention, and that the man had asked her to put up her seat while he ate. Ms Williams said she obliged but reclined her chair again once he was finished.”
“At that point, he started hammering away at me.”
“After complaining to the flight attendant, Ms Williams said the attendant told the man, who appears to have been seated in the back row of the aircraft, that it was ‘tight back there’ and gave him a free rum drink.”
Look at his knuckles. He was PUNCHING me prior to the video! It was scary and very painful! https://t.co/LQxF7c2e30
— wendi (@steelersfanOG) February 8, 2020
Wendi with an i (which sounds suspiciously like the sort of name a troll would come up with, but who nonetheless appears to be real), also said the flight attendant told her off for filming and gave her a passenger disturbance notice.
Though some Twitter users sympathised with Wendi…
You’re in the right.. this was utterly ridiculous and unacceptable… unbelievable ..
— think4yourself
(@Caroltreasure) February 9, 2020
… others didn’t believe her story…
HE DID NOT PUNCH YOU! He poked the seat. At least be honest since you have it on video.
— Susan Moran (@BPMorbert) February 13, 2020
… others said she was in the wrong…
Move your seat up then.
— Libby Sparks (@libbysparks101) February 8, 2020
Here’s the deal…why? Do you need to recline on a flight that short? Especially on an RJ? All plane seats stuck. There is no space in any row so reclining is really just a way for people to let everyone know THEY ARE ENTITLED. I’d have had my knee in your back
— Steve (@Steve77717027) February 12, 2020
… others blamed the airline…
No offense but this gentleman, although he’s an idiot, his seat does not recline. So it is unfair for the person in front to recline their seat. He should have politely asked you to not recline your seat. This is an industry airline problem that needs fixing.
— Leslie Dryden
(@DECOR1) February 8, 2020
… and others offered a little perspective…
So glad that the FBI doesn’t have more pressing issues to deal with…
— Di (@skerochka) February 9, 2020
The best comment we could see though was the following, which summed up the situation – again, as far as we can tell, perfectly.
Dear FBI, this man was pushing the back of my seat. Neither one of us apparently know how to use our words. Please intervene with your police powers. Love, Half of the Problem
