Special Forces Selection is the toughest testing platform in the Military – a twelve-month process that 85 percent of candidates fail. It’s designed to break you. There are only three options on selection: You quit, you get injured, or you outlast. The human body is built for survival and will adapt to better handle cold, heat, stress, pain and just about anything you can throw at it.Special Forces training is designed to test you physically, mentally and emotionally to build your mental strength. Personally, when it comes to mental strength, I believe you need to increase your body’s ability to withstand pain and getting comfortable being uncomfortable.
The Right Mindset
People often ask me “How do I get mentally tougher, Scotty?”, and the answer is pretty simple. The secret lies not in the body but in the mind. To be successful in life, you need the ability to stick things out when the going gets tough – something today’s society is seriously lacking. What’s fascinating to me is that in a world brimming with softies, developing mental toughness gives you a staggering advantage. By building the capacity to stick it out whilst everyone around us gives way, we are setting ourselves up for success. Many people will offer you an excuse to end your suffering but you need to find the people who offer you a challenge instead. Here are my tips for improving your mental toughness.
Set Clear Goals
Be specific with where you are going. Instead of getting distracted thinking about how big the workout is and how painful it will be, just focus on one small victory at a time. Turn the part of your brain off that’s telling you to quit, and soldier on.
Visualise Your Success
During Special Forces selection those who use mental visualisation have a higher chance of passing than those who don’t. When you use mental visualisation repeatedly, it teaches you and rewires your brain at a primal level.Next time you step in the gym use this technique during your workout, visualise your success in completing the workout. I like to use the saying “fake it till you make it”. If you see it and believe it enough you will reach it.
Control Your Emotional State
Do you often have knee-jerk reactions to things? This is caused by huge powerful dumps of cortisol and adrenaline, which when mixed with stress or fear cause you to make irrational decisions. One way to fix these emotional breakdowns is to use breathing techniques and positive body language. During Special Forces selection we learn to manage our emotions under extremely stressful environments using these methods.Next time you feel like you’re losing control, take four long deep breaths and pay attention to switching your body language to a positive stance. If you want to perform at your peak during high-stress periods, then you need to have a way of controlling your emotional responses.Once you have your mind on point, it’s time to get down to training the body to match. This also requires rewiring your brain; we have so many built up ideas about training and nutrition that everything gets convoluted and we try to combine all the knowledge we’ve ever learnt into one. What you need to realise is that not every body is the same as the next, so not every plan will work the same for you as it will for someone else.To set yourself up for success and keep you motivated you need a customised plan that is specific to your training and nutrition goals.
Controlled Nutrition
Your diet and what you put in your body can literally make or break a fitness program and your mindset. What’s tougher when it comes to training or nutrition? Nutrition always wins for most people. For me nutrition is all about performance based results and the aesthetics is a great bi-product. When you switch your brain to eating for performance you will be pleasantly surprised with the way it shapes your physique. You must feed your body quality fuel for optimal energy and performance – the right fuel for the right engine.Putting large quantities of processed, junk food into your system will leave you feeling sluggish, lethargic and slow. This in turn will slowly derail your fitness and body goals.Correct supplementation also has a huge impact on your results; this will give you faster results and hugely improved performance. If you’re going to put money, time and effort into your training but your nutrition is poor, you’re wasting your time.RELATED: Special Forces Commandos Eat Like This To Build Muscle & Drop Fat
Physical Training
Successfully training for a Special Forces body and mind requires a certain level of commitment and discipline. Training principles often includes resistance training, work capacity (HIIT), gymnastics/calisthenics and endurance. It’s no surprise then that SF soldiers are very well rounded athletes since the goal is to build a body that performs under any environment. But we all want the aesthetically pleasing side as well right? The key to this is keeping the training functional and developing strength not only for mass and muscularity, but also for lifting, holding, pushing, pulling, throwing and heaving. This will ensure that your body has the actual fitness to match the aesthetics. When the whole body is strong and works synergistically, you develop a flow and strength that isn’t easily gained by traditional body part splits of one-muscle-group-per-day type training. It’s time to step outside the box with your training and start gaining some serious functional fitness.

Special Forces Training FAQ
Skin the cat is a gymnastic exercise that focuses on the upper body, helping achieve the full range of motion in the shoulder. It also improves strength and mobility development. For sports and fitness nutrition, it is recommended that you eat lean protein like turkey, fish and egg whites, as well as complex carbs and fibers. Minimize or avoid intake of processed foods. Wearing a weighted vest when running will help increase your stamina and endurance. You will be able to train for longer periods of time because you can support your body with the oxygen it needs. What is skin the cat in gymnastics?

When you’re one of the best-dressed men in the world, committing a fashion faux pas should be impossible. However, for David Beckham, he’s made the impossible possible and slipped up with his sartorial style.
The crime in question happened on February the 16th, 2020, when he dressed for his wife Victoria’s runway show at London Fashion Week. As expected, Golden Balls got his outfit spot on, for the most part at least. He styled himself with a suave dark grey Dior suit, and as ever, David’s haircut was on point, but take a look towards his ankles and you won’t believe your eyes.
Undoing what was otherwise an impeccable outfit, Becks wore white socks with dark shoes. A cardinal sin if ever there was one.
View this post on Instagram
He then sat front row (with his kids Romeo, Cruz and Harper), rocking a Cheshire smile as if no one were any the wiser. And – thanks to the baggy trousers he’s been wearing lately (though this pair aren’t as wide as the ones he’s been rocking in recent months) – no one was any the wiser.

As for clothing specifics, all three Beckham boys were dressed in Dior, with dad David rocking a grey suit (and, as we may have mentioned, an outrageous choice of socks). Meanwhile, sons Romeo and Cruz went for more eye-bouncy items, Cruz’s pre-fall 2020 sweater being a #highlight.
Once again Beckham proves a style icon. From the ankle up.

Looking for the best luggage for your next holiday? You’ve come to the right place.
Travelling lightly should never be taken lightly, and with international travel companies becoming more and more anal about what we can and can’t take with us into cabins and carriages – having a selection of the best luggage for every type of trip is more essential than ever.
You’re probably thinking that luggage is just luggage, and if it gets your items from A to B with little fuss then all good. But, as you should know, there are many different types of luggage to choose from, whether it be a small carry-on for a short trip abroad, a weekender bag for a night in the city or, of course, a fully-fledged suitcase.
In fact, owning and using the best luggage is about so much more than holding a few items of clothing. It’s about security for the things inside it, it has to be durable, and to help you travel with as little stress as possible. And, don’t forget, your luggage can help you portray a certain image.
Today, the best luggage brands use a range of materials in the manufacturing process of their suitcases, from aluminium and polycarbonates to leathers and synthetics. And luggage can now be used for any type of travel, whether you’re going away for a romantic weekend in the country or a train trip across Europe… so, having a solid, reliable design that looks great, keeps everything inside in order, and won’t buckle under the pressure mid-trip, is bloody imperative.
Once you’ve found the best suitcase for you, you should also look into buying a set of packing cubes to make packing and organising your suitcase that much more efficient.
Ready to purchase new luggage that’ll most likely get you bumped up a class when travelling? We’ve rounded up the best luggage brands to shop from. These brands cater to different tastes and needs, so no matter what type of luggage you’re after, we guarantee you’ll find something you love below!

Picture the scene. You’ve fallen in love with the girl of your dreams, you’ve lived together, met the parents and finally decided you’re ‘meant to be’, so agree to get married. The date is locked in and fast approaching, the venue has been paid for and invites have been sent out. However, you make a pretty idiotic mistake that throws the whole day into turmoil.
But what mistake are we talking about exactly? Let us regale you with a true story that happened to Josh, who, going by the Reddit thread he posted, is an asshole.
Josh, our calamitous casanova, posted his conundrum in the ‘AITA’ (Am I The Asshole) section of Reddit, and told users both he and his fiancé had saved up $10k each to spend on the big day and the honeymoon. After paying for the necessities, Josh said there was $6k left, which he thought could be added to the honeymoon fund they already had. Although he adds they’re “not the extravagant type at all.”
His bride, Emma, wanted to spend around $1,000 on the dress of her dreams, but Josh was having none of it. He told Reddit it was too much money, and that he had found dresses online “just like the one Emma wants for like $50 to $100”.
He adds, “I’m not trying to get her to cheap out on her dress but she will literally wear it once, one dress for over $1000 is just insane that would fund our honeymoon.”
It’s at this point you can already hear women everywhere crying out, “ohhh hellllll naahhhhh”.
Josh then reveals how much of a ‘simple man’ he is when he finally poses the question, “Is there something I am seriously missing because after we argued about the dress Emma has been extremely cold towards me.”
Enter, an entire mob of women essentially telling our Josh that yes, there is something he is “seriously missing”.
Milee30 starts proceedings by saying “YTA (You’re The Asshole). You say you don’t want her to cheap out, but then you say you want her to buy a $50 -$100 wedding dress. That’s cheap. That’s cheap even for a regular dress. Those cheap dresses you’re finding online will look terrible in person and are the source of so many disappointed women and jokes. Wedding dresses and their tailoring are expensive. $1000 is actually a low priced dress.”
Other users, such as VaxYoKidsVaxYoWife claim Josh is being too stubborn with his decisions. “He’s just being controlling for the sake of being controlling. Like refusing to let your parents buy it? Wtf?” while, cupcakes_and_vodka reckons the wedding should be called off
“I hope this girl runs for the hills. Another age gap case where the power is unbalanced and dude wants to control and manipulate… And they aren’t even married yet. It gets worse from here.”
In fact, that’s exactly what happened. Josh added an edit to his original post, “I told her she’s like a toddler throwing a tantrum over a sparkly toy she can’t have, that was a mistake as she left to stay with her parents, who called to tell me I am much more than an asshole.”
But then things got even worse because Emma, who is a user of Reddit herself, found Josh’s thread and decided to call off the wedding entirely. Although the exact reasoning hasn’t been laid out, it’s clear she didn’t take kindly to him revealing a rather trivial part of their relationship for the world to see.
He should count himself lucky that she hasn’t hit back with a thread of her own like this woman, who revealed the underwhelming surprise she got when she came to consummate her marriage on her honeymoon.

Is there anything worse than walking past Business’ lie-flat beds only to schlup yourself into Economy?
There doesn’t even need to be a deodorant-denier to your left, or a coughing couple to your right; Economy seats alone (and having the person in front of you ram theirs into your face) are enough to make the strongest among us lose faith.
The smarty-pants at Layer Design last year unveiled an Economy seat concept that aimed to solve this.
“MOVE is a lightweight airline seat concept by LAYER for @airbus designed to improve the experience of economy class flying.”
As Layer Designs announced on Instagram in December 2019, this seat design “recently won Gold at the prestigious @drivenxdesign London Design Awards.”
View this post on Instagram
While we commend any effort to improve cattle class, questions have been raised over how much this new idea will improve Economy.
The doubts? Read and weep. Here’s what Instagram users had to say about Layer’s new design. From minor gripes to major quibbles, Economy passengers are far from sold.
First up: mobility. As one Instagram user points out: “The ability to raise the aisle side armrest is critical for some passengers with mobility issues.” This is something Layer Designs’ new concept appears to lack.
On top of that, as various users picked up on, the seats don’t look cosy. From, “doesn’t look comfortable at all” to “just let the designer sit in such hard seat for 12 hours and we’ll see” this was a common observation.
“Where is my tray and pocket?” asked another, while yet a further user wrote, “how about some lumbar support?”. That said, there were a number of positive comments as well, like, “this is an amazing concept and I’d love to have those airline seats in real life.”
View this post on Instagram
Here at DMARGE, we see where people are coming from with the negative comments, but also think it’s worth pointing out that the seats are designed with space and weight saving in mind (as we assume, per the brief).
They also contain a few contraptions that should help comfort, which the dismissive commenters neglected to mention (or notice). Foremost among them: a fixed seatback, which means the person in front of you can’t recline their seat into your personal space.
This, Layer Designs says, aims to solve the issue of “legroom rage” caused by passengers unnecessarily reclining on shorter flights. The seats are also connected to a series of sensors that detect both the passenger’s body and the conditions of their chair, in order to improve the experience.
As Dezeen reports, “This includes temperature, seat tension, pressure and movement – conditions that can be monitored and controlled by passengers via their phone, using Layer’s Move app.”
“The Move app analyses the data collected by the sensors, and sends targeted messages to the passenger telling them how they can improve their comfort.”
“These include prompting,” Dezeen continues, “to get up and move around the cabin to improve circulation, to do in-seat stretches or to stay hydrated.”
Oh and “users can further customise their seat conditions via the app by selecting different modes such as ‘massage’, ‘meal time’ or ‘sleep.'”
Plus: “The smart cover also has zones of differing density knit to offer different levels of support to the body.”
“During the flight, the seat automatically adjusts itself based on the passenger’s weight, size and movement by passing a current through the conductive yarn to change the seat tension.”
Sounds promising. But we’ll wait until it’s been tested on a long haul flight before casting final judgement.

The Beckhams are without doubt one of the most famous families on the planet. Both David and his wife Victoria have highly successful careers and both are seen as fashion icons. ‘Golden Balls’ rarely puts a foot wrong when it comes to style, and he makes regular appearances here at DMARGE as a result, and this time, he’s even managed to upstage his wife at her own fashion show.
Sitting front row at wife Victoria’s London Fashion Week runway show on February 16th 2020, David could be seen with a Cheshire cat smile as he supported his better half, along with kids Romeo, Cruz and Harper. All four were impeccably dressed as expected, but it was David’s watch that caught our eye in particular.
It’s a Tudor Black Bay P01 – David is an ambassador for the Swiss watchmaker – a watch released at Baselworld 2019 and one that can have its design traced back to the 1960s. Back then, Tudor made a prototype with an intricate locking bezel mechanism that was designed to prevent the bezel from being knocked out of place, and since Tudor made watches for the U.S. Navy, it was a very real possibility. Tudor’s design was patented by Rolex – its sister company – in 1968 and this modern-day interpretation features a ‘claw’ at 12 o’clock to secure the bezel in place.

With the Black Bay P01, Becks proves he’s a man of the people, as you can get one yourself for AU$5,450, making it more affordable than an ‘entry-level’ Rolex Oyster Perpetual. As for clothing, all three Beckham boys were dressed in Dior, with dad David rocking a grey suit, while sons Romeo and Cruz went for more visually stimulating items, Cruz’s pre-fall 2020 sweater being a particular highlight.
Once again the Beckhams prove to be our style icons.
