One Of The Fastest Modern BMW M Cars Is Now On Sale In Australia…For $200,000

With just 700 examples built worldwide and 25 of them officially calling Australia home, the BMW M4 GTS is arguably a modern unicorn of the German car company’s performance M stable. And would you look at that, we’ve found a 2016 low mileage example casually floating around on Carsales (there’s actually three examples on sale at the moment) for a cool $199,998. The asking price is rather surprising considering it retailed for $300,000 when it debuted in 2016, so this 4,400km example could be a worthy investment in a potential future classic. But first, a quick history lesson. The M4 GTS was BMW’s hat tip to the F82 coupe and by hat tip we mean a power trip which pushes the M4 to the limits of performance. If the bright orange half roll cage from factory doesn’t give it away, the racing harnesses should. This 2016 plated model features a heavily tuned version of the 3.0-litre twin-turbo inline six-cylinder engine which now pushes 51kW more than the standard M4. Power figures are now 368kW and 600Nm of torque, respectively. The blistering performance is complemented with a reworked exterior which looks like it rolled out of a ‘Fast & Furious’ franchise. An aggressive carbon fibre bonnet joins a carbon fibre roof, carbon fibre rear diffuser, carbon fibre race seats, carbon ceramic brakes, fully adjustable suspension and a titanium-tipped exhaust system. There’s even an onboard fire suppression system.Beyond that the stunning race-prepped coupe is finished in Frozen Grey with orange highlights, a sizeable carbon fibre wing out back and a full Alcantara interior.Whilst the car may seem like an animal built for the track, it does receive some BMW creature comforts in the form of an iDrive infotainment system, sat nav and rain-sensing wipers. You get no door handle; in its place are nylon straps featuring contrast stitching in the Bavarian company’s signature colours.

Researchers Discover What Men Need To Eat To Improve Their Sex Drive
Researchers Discover What Men Need To Eat To Improve Their Sex Drive

Nuts. That’s what men should be eating more of if they want to improve their sexual function, according to the latest research from Spain. The findings which were published in the journal ‘Nutrients‘ outlines that men who added just two handfuls of nuts a day to their diet would see an improvement in their sex drive. The data was compiled from a 14-week study involving a group of men on a Western-style diet with nuts added. The group was then compared against a separate group on the same diet without nuts in their diet. The daily control portion meanwhile was 60g of nuts per day which consisted of almonds, hazelnuts and walnuts. The researchers conclusion of this nutty study?“Including nuts in a regular diet significantly improved auto-reported orgasmic function and sexual desire.”The latest findings follow on from a study in 2018 which highlighted how daily nut consumption improved sperm quality. The most recent tests took this a bit deeper with researchers surveying the changes in erectile function amongst test subjects. This was accomplished via biomarkers and blood samples alongside participant responses to questionnaires. The tests meanwhile were conducted amongst 83 healthy males aged between 18 and 35-years-old. All of them were subjected to the Western style diet which is commonly low in fruits and vegetables and high in animal fats. 43 of the males were placed in the nut-enriched group whilst the remaining 40 on the same diet had nuts excluded.Whilst this is bad news for men who are allergic to nuts, there’s still the looming question of why eating nuts actually benefits sexual function and whether it’s viable in the long term. The researchers have called on more research in the area to answer these questions but until then, feel free to elevate your nut game. Scientists’ orders.

‘Paperclipping’ Is The Most Infuriating New Dating Trend That’s Also Irresistible
‘Paperclipping’ Is The Most Infuriating New Dating Trend That’s Also Irresistible

It’s not an embarrassing pretzel-like sex act: it’s worse. Oh, and it’s also irresistible. How so? Allow us to explain.Tinder trills. Soon enough you’re meeting for a drink, heading back to your place and enjoying some spontaneous displacement of linen. You fall asleep in a pile of rumpled glory, only for them to sneak out in the early hours.“Fair enough,” you think. It’s too soon to spoon anyhow. You sigh, make some coffee, and wait for their charming morning-after text.Nothing.A few days pass and you start seriously questioning your pillow talk. Then, just as you give up hope, they follow you on Instagram. You play it cool, like a few pics, and ask what they’re up to next weekend. No interest. Why did you bother following me then? You vent your frustration to a friend and move on with your life, while they proceed — for the next few months — both to ignore you and also to religiously watch every single one of your Instagram stories.Whatever: you find someone something else to do with your time, throwing yourself into your career, hobbies, side hustle and a bunch of other dates. Then, just as your life reaches Marie Kondo alignment, your old flame — who ghosted you after one date — suddenly hits you up with a friendly message.Whether this has anything to do with the gym selfie you just took or the career update you just posted is irrelevant. Fact is; they have popped up with no pretext, sending you a message you have no time for: much like Clippy the irritating Microsoft Office assistant who used to goad you with random questions on word, often when you least needed it.As reported by Metro and Yahoo, this has become such a common faux pas that it now has an official name: paperclipping, a piece of nomenclature that was made Instagram official earlier this week by New York artist Samantha Rothenberg, who posted a too-close-to-home illustration of the phenomenon to her 125k followers.

Who remembers clippy? well he’s here to make sure you don’t forget him 🤠

A post shared by Samantha Rothenberg (@violetclair) on

As Metro put it, these unexpected messages are never malicious or rude, “they’re just designed to bait and baffle… aim[ing] to get a response by reeling you in with their absolutely baffling timing.”

“Upon receiving one, you’ll be struck with many questions. What do they want? Why now? Is something horribly wrong? Are they madly in love with me? Should I respond?”

Or course it can be supremely tempting to message them back, even if only to try to get to the bottom of their unexpected text. But — if you’re looking for payback — this is the wrong road to go down as your reply “could condone their initial bad behaviour” and “it’s unlikely to end well,” (Yahoo). But as gluttons for punishment ourselves, we’re not going to judge. Either ignore them or type yourself silly: but whatever you do, don’t assume you are now a priority for them; they most likely just got bored.

Simon Pegg Casually Out-Dressed Leonardo DiCaprio At The ‘Once Upon A Time…In Hollywood’ Premiere

He’s not even in the film but at the London premiere of Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Once Upon A Time…In Hollywood’, British actor Simon Pegg managed to casually out dress the leading men – Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt, no less.Dressed in a navy marle-specked three-piece suit, Pegg championed a more relaxed fit which made perfect sense with the white granddad collared shirt – a classy yet casual take on modern suiting that requires no tie. A simple solid white pocket square gave the look a bit more edge whilst white leather Alexander McQueen sneakers polished off the whole look. And let’s not overlook the sharp transparent glasses of this winning casual look.Over at the star’s corner, there wasn’t anything wrong with Brad and Leo’s red carpet looks. They were just vanilla. Predictable, even.Pitt took to the summer suiting vibes much better by pairing a tucked in polo shirt with a navy blazer and trousers. There were black lace-up dress shoes but the look which lacked detail is nothing to write home about. He did have some nice jewellery though. Finally we get to the star player, Leonardo DiCaprio. The suit fitment was on point but the suit itself was rather stockbroker in execution. Again, lots of black in a three-piece suit which is nothing to write home about. The blue striped tie and the Garrett Leight sunglasses which we recently wrote about provided the only detail to the look otherwise flat look.Functional, yet bland. That’s one point to Mr. Simon Pegg.

The Paleo Diet Could Be Your Early Ticket To The Grave, According To New Australian Study
The Paleo Diet Could Be Your Early Ticket To The Grave, According To New Australian Study

No one wants to die but at some point we’re all toast. This sounds morbid but throughout history has led to some of the most hedonistic nutritional breakthroughs mankind has seen (from Ben & Jerry’s to Anthony Bourdain).

However, in recent years there has been a push back against this devil-may-care attitude, as low carb zealots attempt to take your diet back to simpler (paleolithic) times.

Trade your eggs on toast for eggs on eggs, your pasta for zucchini and your cereal for steak, they say. And never mention that cavemen didn’t eat Matcha.

While going strictly Paleo is likely better than badly following a mainstream science diet, past studies have raised numerous concerns about the quantity of saturated fat low carb dieters tend to consume.

Adding to this list of concerns is a new Australian study, published in the European Journal of Nutrition, which found people who follow the Paleolithic diet have high levels of a blood biomarker tied to heart disease, and also suggested they have poorer gut health.

As reported by Medical News Today, this finding “raises some red flags about this type of diet, which, the researchers suggest, is not balanced enough to ensure good health.”

While Paleo dieters’ culling of refined carbohydrates and processed sugars (and their high intake of meats, fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds) is to be commended, their culling of dairy, legumes, and whole-grains is on scientifically shaky ground.

This has become a topic of intense debate, with some studies suggesting the Paleo diet can protect against heart attacks and diabetes and others suggesting the exact opposite.

To shed some light on the topic the aforementioned team of Australian investigators conducted an investigation into the long term effects of the Paleo diet, analysing 44 volunteers who followed Paleo diets, as well as 47 volunteers who followed typical diets that met national dietary recommendations.

Led by scientist Angela Genoni, the experiment took place over a year, during which the researchers “collected biological samples from all the participants, assessed their diets, and compared results between the Paleo cohort and the control group,” (Medical News Today).

Moreover, in order to be more precise, participants who followed a Paleo diet were split into two further groups, one of which included 22 individuals who ate less than one serving per day of grains and dairy, and another which included 22 individuals who ate more than one serving of grains and dairy per day.

As reported by Medical News Today, “The researchers found that, across Paleo groups, individuals presented heightened blood levels of a compound that specialists associate with heart disease: trimethylamine N-oxide.”

“Trimethylamine N-oxide first forms in the gut, and its levels depend on a person’s diet and the bacteria that populate their gut, among other factors.”

Lead scientist Angela Genoni also said: “We… found that populations of beneficial bacterial species were lower in the Paleolithic groups, associated with the reduced carbohydrate intake, which may have consequences for other chronic diseases over the long term.”

Genoni and her team believe Paleo dieters have such heightened levels of trimethylamine N-oxide because they do not consume whole grains — a great source of dietary fibre, which helps reduce one’s risk of cardiovascular problems.

“We found the lack of whole grains associated with [trimethylamine N-oxide] levels… may provide a link [with] the reduced risks of cardiovascular disease we see in populations with high intakes of whole grains,” says Geroni.

“The Paleo diet excludes all grains and we know that whole grains are a fantastic source of resistant starch and many other fermentable fibers that are vital to the health of your gut microbiome.”

Additionally, the researchers point out that participants in the Paleo diet groups also had higher concentrations of the gut bacteria “hungatella” that generate the compound.

“Because [trimethylamine N-oxide] is produced in the gut, a lack of whole grains might change the populations of bacteria enough to enable higher production of this compound,” Genoni explains in the European Journal of Nutrition.

“Additionally, the Paleo diet includes greater servings per day of red meat, which provides the precursor compounds to produce [trimethylamine N-oxide]… and Paleo followers consumed twice the recommended level of saturated fats, which is cause for concern.”

The conclusion? Excluding whole grains from your diet can seriously impact your gut health, with implications for your heart, too. The scientists also call for more studies to be conducted into the role of vegetables and saturated fats in regulating key biological mechanisms in the gut.

Australia’s First Ninja Warrior Proves Having An Influencer’s Physique Is Massively Overrated

Jackie Chan. Bruce Lee. Hattori Hanzo. Nunchucks. Japan. When you think of a Ninja Warrior, Australia is not the first thing that comes to mind. However, the land of rugby league and surfing has finally crowned its first-ever Ninja Warrior from the most unlikely of sources — a golf geek called Charlie Robbins. The underdog redhead, barely out of his teens and weighing just 68kg, last night won Channel Nine’s Australian Ninja Warrior competition, taking home $100,000 and proving to be the surprise package of Ninja Warrior season three. As News.com.au reports, “While other competitors were introduced with awe-inspiring footage showing their tireless hours spent training, Robbins’ intro instead showed him golfing with a group of elderly friends, including his 71-year-old grandfather Taffy.”But don’t be fooled: the 20-year-old has been doing gymnastics since he was four, and started training on “ninja-specific obstacles” about two-and-a-half years ago.Despite playing it down for the show (and thus flying under the radar, avoiding the pressure that was felt by the more shredded competitors), Robbins is a keen athlete with a sporting regimen that any aspiring Ninja (or gym junkie looking to vary their dumbell-heavy workout) would do well to emulate.

As he told News.com.au, his success proves having “an Instagram influencer’s rippling physique” doesn’t automatically translate to athletic success.

“I think being fairly lightweight is an advantage — and having a gymnastics background helps heaps. I don’t think putting on as much muscle as you can is necessarily going to help you.”

While we don’t all have access to a Ninja Warrior course to train on, many of Robbins’ workouts can actually be completed in the gym or at the park. So — if you only work out to look good (no judgement: we’ve been there) — stop reading now. But, if you would like to incorporate a little functional fitness into your routine (and continue doing adventurous activities well into old age), these exercises will get you on your way.
