Bright, bodacious and bloody… that’s Bullet Train. The latest film from Sony Pictures is such a fun ride that fans of action comedies should flock to the cinema immediately. Bullet Train follows Ladybug, an unlucky assassin played by Brad Pitt – who’s clearly in his element and is having the time of his life with this role.
Ladybug is tasked with a simple mission: aboard a bullet train headed for Kyoto, locate a silver briefcase and steal it. But Ladybug soon finds out that his mission is not as easy as it seems as there are other assassins also on the train, with missions of their own to complete.
Slick, colourful and stylised, the cinematography and direction are stunning; kudos to director David Leitch. And the blood-soaked fight scenes are incredibly innovative, which is a delightful surprise considering the large number of films that have had fight scenes in them; you’d think every way a fight could possibly be choreographed would have already been done but Bullet Train proves that thought wrong.
The film follows an array of fun but oddball characters who are all brought to life by the fantastic cast. Pitt plays Ladybug to perfection. Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Brian Tyree Henry have great chemistry as “twins” named Tangerine and Lemon; Taylor-Johnson’s really given his all to this performance and Henry’s constant references to Thomas the Tank Engine are hilarious.

Andrew Koji and Hiroyuki Sanada, whose characters, Kimura and The Elder, are stoic and serious compared to everyone else, both do a tremendous job at bringing the sole solemn note to the otherwise playful and exuberant film. Although, Sanada does get one humorous moment near the end of Bullet Train, which he nails and I’d argue is the funniest gag in the entire film.
Clad in pink, Joey King proves she isn’t just a rom-com actress with her dry cold-hearted but oddly cheery character, The Prince, who tricks many fellow killers into thinking that she’s nothing more than an innocent young girl. King’s performance is nuanced; she manages to be both sickly sweet and unsympathetic at the same time.
Michael Shannon, Benito A Martínez Ocasio (AKA Bad Bunny), Logan Lerman and Zazie Beetz all do a great job with their limted screentime. And speaking of limited screentime, Bullet Train features some hilarious cameos that just add to the film’s enjoyable zaniness.
Will Bullet Train win any Oscars? No. There’s too much style and humour over substance here. But if you enjoy fun films that don’t take themselves too seriously, Bullet Train is a must-watch action-packed comical delight. Overall, I’d give the movie a 7/10.

For some of us, the best thing about COVID was being able to work from home, and we’ve been dreading returning to the office. I personally love being in the office – although, if I had a ‘home office’ like this one in Santorini, I’d probably change my tune…
This next-level set-up comes courtesy of Jérôme Poirier, a half-French half-Japanese travel blogger famous for his awe-inspiring photos.
Where is it? It’s at Katikies Chromata Santorini, a 5-star hotel in Imerovigli, a tiny village set atop the highest cliff in Santorini, Greece. Midway between Fira and Oia and sometimes called “the balcony to the Aegean”, Imerovigli is one of the most exclusive holiday spots in Santorini, itself one of the most popular holiday destinations in the Mediterranean.
We honestly can’t think of a better place to sip a coffee and shoot off a few emails… Not sure how productive we’d be, though.
WATCH the world’s best ‘home office’ below.
This might seem ridiculously extravagant, but many countries and regions around the world have been actively courting young ‘digital nomads’ in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Take this village in Madeira, Portugal that’s setting up a dedicated remote worker community and facilities, or Bermuda, which is offering year-long stays for people who want to work or study remotely.
Some are going even further – this medieval village in Southern Italy is actually paying young people to move there and are even helping backroll new businesses in order to sweeten the deal.
Better make sure your passport is valid…

For whatever reason, humans are like fish out of water; dying to hop into a pool, the ocean, a river, etc., especially in the warmer months. Not to mention the countless amount of water activities humans have invented over the years: sailing, water-skiing, diving, surfing, kayaking… you get the idea.
While most of us regularly participate in these activities, not many of us own a pair of water shoes; we tend to go barefoot or wear sneakers. But this is a grave mistake! You wouldn’t expect an ice skater to compete without skates, and you wouldn’t go for a run without cushioned and supportive sneakers. We should all own a pair of water shoes to protect us from injury.
Why Water Shoes Are An Essential
Water shoes provide protection not only to your entire foot but to YOU as well. Your soles will be protected from hot surfaces and sharp objects, your toes will be protected from stubbing, and with treads and rubber outsoles designed for grip on slippery surfaces, you’re less likely to slip and potentially badly injure yourself.
Plus, unlike regular footwear, water shoes are lightweight, drain water out, and are quick-drying, meaning you won’t feel weighed down while submerged, and you won’t feel uncomfortable or develop blisters while on land. Finally, water shoes are breathable and insulated, and will keep your feet cool in warmer weather, and will keep your feet warm (and will help regulate body temperature) if you’re going in cold water.
Different Styles of Water Shoes
If you’re a water-lover and you need a pair of water shoes, but you’re not sure what to look for in a water shoe; we’ve got you covered. There are a few different styles and types of water shoes so it does depend on what you’re planning to do. If you’re surfing or swimming in deep waters, go for a slip-on traditional water shoe, if you’re hiking near rivers and may swim during the hike, you’ll need a hybrid water shoe (which looks like a sneaker), if you’re just spending the day at the beach or poolside, a sandal style of water shoe will be best, or if you’re on a boat, most of the shoes below will work for you so go for whatever style appeals to you.

If you still need help choosing a water shoe, we’ve curated the best brands and styles of water shoes available. We’ve featured a wide variety of water shoes, that are all high-quality and durable, so no matter what water-based activity you need water shoes for, you’ll find the best water shoes for men below!

Australians love V8 engines, but there are increasingly few affordable V8 cars on the market these days. But as the new Toyota LandCruiser LC300 demonstrates, we shouldn’t look back in anger – an 8-cylinder donk isn’t the be-all and end-all if you want to have some true-blue vehicular fun.
When Toyota unveiled the LC300 (also called the 300 Series or J300), the first new comfort-oriented LandCruiser in a whopping 15 years, expectations were understandably high. That’s why it came as a shock to many Aussies that Toyota would not be offering a V8 engine option for the immensely popular 4×4.
Instead, the LC300 has but a single engine option Down Under: a 3.3L twin-turbo diesel V6. Indeed, Toyota isn’t offering a V8 of any description anywhere in the world for the LC300 – this isn’t a case of Australia getting gatekept or something.
Of course, the venerable, utilitarian 70 Series LandCruiser – which has been in production since 1984 – can still be had with a 4.5L single turbo diesel V8 (again, the only engine option for the car in Australia), but the 70 Series is a true anomaly and doesn’t have the same customer base as the comfort-oriented LC300 or the LC200 the former replaced.
Many Australian Toyota purists were dismayed by the news that the new LC300 wouldn’t be available without a V8 – myself included. It just seems un-Australian for a vehicle that’s so deeply embedded in our motoring culture; one that’s so loved, so ubiquitous, and crucially, so massive, for a LandCruiser to not come with a stonking big V8.

But then I drove the new LC300, and my prejudices were put to bed.
That new twin-turbo diesel V6 not only sounds pretty ferocious but has plenty of grunt, making 227kW/700Nm – a solid 27kW and 50Nm more than the 4.5L single turbo diesel V8 that powered the outgoing LC200 and continues to power the 70 Series. It does that while also sipping less fuel, too.
RELATED: Australia’s Latest V8 Supercar ‘Monster’ Finally Breaks Cover
I was particularly surprised by how dynamic it was, too. Put the new LandCruiser in sport mode and it actually becomes pretty damn sporty, despite its gigantic proportions. You can actually chop people at the lights. Again, this is a credit to the car’s engine and Toyota’s engineers.
Let’s be clear: there are many areas other than a lack of a V8 that might give you pause for concern with the LC300. I was surprised by how average the interior fit and finish was (I was driving the base model GX, but still). The button on the automatic shift lever was unpleasantly cheap-feeling, for instance. The infotainment system is properly archaic, and try as I might, I couldn’t get it to work properly with the Toyota app. It’s also a bloody expensive car, with prices starting at $96,370.
But one thing I can’t fault is the engine… Or the LC300’s immense off-road capability, which is in no small part also a result of the fine powertrain Toyota has blessed this 4×4 with.

There are, of course, many other traditionally or previously V8-powered cars on the market right now in Australia where you can demonstrate that the absence of an 8-cylinder is no dealbreaker. The four-cylinder Ford Mustang High Performance immediately springs to mind, as do the new Jeep Grand Cherokee and Audi RS4, both of which have eschewed V8 power for V6s.
But it’s the LandCruiser where (for some at least) the loss of a V8 option is more controversial… As well as where it makes the most difference. Or should that be the least?
In short, the absence of a V8 engine option hasn’t ruined the new LandCruiser. Far from it. The venerable off-roader is better than it’s ever been, so there’s no need to get chauvinistic about cylinder configurations.

Some actors are as versatile as a Swiss Army Knife. Others, however, make a living playing the same kind of character over and over again…
There are some actors who must have been chameleons in a past life. Christian Bale, Stanley Tucci, Tilda Swinton, Daniel Day-Lewis… We could name multiple actors who have played a wide range of versatile and vastly different characters during their careers.
However, there are a few actors who get typecast and play the same role over and over again. And once an actor has been typecast it’s incredibly hard to break free of that mould – not everyone can pull a Jason Bateman (if you’re not sure what this means, Jason Bateman was typecast for years until he starred in Ozark).
Still not sure what a typecast actor is? Here are five actors who play the same or extremely similar characters in every project they’re in.
Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson

Ever since Dwayne Johnson’s acting career took off after he stepped away from professional wrestling, he’s essentially played the same character in everything he’s ever been in. A tough but likeable guy, bulging with muscles, who has a great sense of humour. That doesn’t mean we don’t enjoy seeing the Rock onscreen though…
Jennifer Coolidge

Coolidge, best known for playing Stifler’s mum in American Pie and Paulette in Legally Blonde, always seems to play a sexualised bimbo who’s bloody hilarious. Her roles in The White Lotus, A Cinderella Story and Click as well as the two previously mentioned roles certainly fit that description!
Michael Cera

What do Superbad, Juno, Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist, Year One and Scott Pilgrim vs the World have in common? Cera plays the same awkward but lovably geeky character in all of them. Sadly for Cera, the archetypal role that made him famous got old, and now his box office draw is nowhere near what it used to be.
Danny Trejo

Trejo always plays a badass. Seriously, every character that Trejo has played, all of them have the same traits and characteristics. If you sit down and watch Machete, Heat, Desperado or even the children’s movie Spy Kids, you’ll see that Trejo is essentially playing the same character in all of them; although, we must say he does an excellent job at it every time.
Michelle Rodriguez

Tough, tomboyish and takes no prisoners. This could easily describe every character Rodriguez has ever played whether it be her role in the Fast and Furious franchise, Lost or Avatar. Rodriguez is well aware she’s a typecast actor though; she told The Playlist, “I’m here to entertain people and make a statement about female empowerment and strength and that’s what I’ve done for the last 10 years, and people can call it typecast, but I pigeonholed myself and I put myself in that box for saying no to everything else that came on my plate.”

Jake Gyllenhaal will lead an impressive cast in a remake of the 1989 film Road House for Amazon’s Prime Video.
The cult classic film Road House, that starred Patrick Swayze as a professional bouncer who works at an extremely rough bar, is getting the remake treatment. And Jake Gyllenhaal is set to star in the new Road House.
According to Variety, Road House will be directed by Doug Liman – best known for directing The Bourne Identity, Mr. & Mrs. Smith and Edge of Tomorrow – and Joel Silver, who produced the original Road House film, will produce.
The remake, which will be an Amazon Original, is being described as a ‘reimagined take on the classic movie’ and will follow Gyllenhaal’s character; a former UFC fighter who “takes a job as a bouncer at a rough-and-tumble roadhouse in the Florida Keys, but soon discovers that not everything is what it seems in this tropical paradise”.
Liman said in a statement, “I’m thrilled to put my own spin on the beloved Road House legacy. And I can’t wait to show audiences what Jake and I are going to do with this iconic role,” while Silver said, “The original Road House has a special place in my heart and I am so excited to bring this newly imagined version to audiences around the world.”

The Road House remake will begin production this month in the Dominican Republic but there’s no word yet of a potential release date. Jennifer Salke, Head of Amazon Studios, did say though, that the film will be a “homerun” when it is released.
“Road House is a homerun for us. Not only is it a nod to fans of the original, but it is also a big, fun, broad audience movie. We are thrilled to collaborate with Joel, Doug, and this great cast led by Jake Gyllenhaal, and for them to come together to reimagine the classic MGM film as an action-packed adventure for our global audience.”
Jennifer Salke, Head of Amazon Studios
Alongside Gyllenhaal, No Time To Die’s Billy Magnussen, The Suicide Squad’s Daniela Melchior and The White Lotus’ Lukas Gage will star in Road House. As will Gbemisola Ikumelo, Hannah Love Lanier, Travis Van Winkle, B.K. Cannon, Arturo Castro, Dominique Columbus, Beau Knapp and Bob Menery.
Hopefully, this new Road House is just as good as the original. But even if it isn’t, at least Seth MacFarlane will be happy as the Road House running gag in Family Guy will now become relevant to younger viewers who probably haven’t seen the original film…

A traveller has asked Reddit why hostels don’t have a snorer segregation policy, saying dorm accommodation providers should have dorms for snorers (at no extra cost) “and if you don’t admit you’re a snorer and book a non-snorer dorm, you should be fined.”
A sleep-deprived traveller has hit the Internet up with a bold suggestion – segregate snorers from the rest of the (hostel) population. The traveller, whose Reddit username is u/Thailandteach, posted the suggestion to Reddit’s r/travel community some six days ago.
They wrote: “Unpopular opinion: hostels should have dorms for snorers (at no extra cost) and if you don’t admit you’re a snorer and book a non-snorer dorm, you should be fined.” This was followed up with: “You can probably tell I’ve forgotten to pack my ear plugs!”
Popular responses to the idea included suggesting aggrieved non-snorers re-consider what hostel life is all about (“if you’re a light sleeper and can’t be bothered with airplugs, hostels might not be for you”) and personal stories (“I once stayed in a 30 person dorm in Barcelona. There was one guy snoring very faintly, hardly noticeable, but everytime he started, some asshole loudly yelled for him to stop. The asshole yelling was far more disruptive than the snorer”).
Another Reddit user (apparently a snorer themselves, clearly angered by the idea) wrote: “If you don’t have earplugs, don’t make it everyone else’s problem. Snoring is a very common sleep noise. Lots of people don’t even know they do it.”
“If you’re single and don’t regularly share a room with any of your friends, why would you know?”

They added: “It would also be an additional cost to the hostel to add them, and that cost might get added onto you, the consumer. And idk, maybe this is a bit elitist and non-understanding if me, but as someone who has a big family and who also has trouble falling asleep sometimes – if you’re so pampered that the regular sounds of other people sleeping are too much for you, don’t stay in a hostel.”
“Snoring dorms might seem a good idea in principle, but if you don’t know you snore and go into the ‘regular’ dorm, why should you be fined for something you weren’t aware you did?”
They continued: “Like I know that’s a bit of a bitchy thing to say and some people just have trouble sleeping and it sucks, but that’s not other people’s fault or responsibility. I have sympathy for people with insomnia, but I don’t have sympathy for those who blame their difficulty sleeping on other people just existing in the world when they’ve chosen to put themselves in a communal dorm situation.”

“Snorer dorms sound nice in principle, but in practice they’re not practical. Hopefully this experience has taught OP to always have backup earplugs and/or some melatonin to aid their sleeping.”
As someone who hates snorers (and worries if I wear ear plugs I’ll miss my own alarm, and then my flight) I have sympathy with the idea, even if it’s unpractical. That said, the notion brought up time and time again in the comments (“has it occurred to you that snorers may not know they snore?”) rings pretty true too.
Ah, the joys of hostel life.

2021 AP NFL Comeback Player of the Year, Joe Burrows, recently sat down for an interview in which he shared some insights into his attitude to working out.
25-year-old Joe Burrow, the American football quarterback for the Cincinnati Bengals, is a bit of a beast. As well as winning official accolades (and playing a Superbowl with a sprained MCL) he has been the subject of contract rumours of late, with Bengals president Mike Brown insisting they want to offer him an attractive package when the time comes so that he stays.
“We couldn’t be happier with Joe Burrow,” Brown said. “He’s everything you would wish for, especially for a quarterback in Cincinnati. And our whole focus is going on keeping him here.” This comes after Burrow led the Bengals to their first Superbowl appearance in 33 years. Burrow hasn’t had an easy ride though. He tore his ACL and MCL in his rookie season in 2020, returned in style in 2021, sprained his MCL during the Superbowl and returned this week to the Bengal’s facility after getting his appendix removed last week.
“Burrow is not yet getting back to practice, but rolled onto the field in a golf cart to watch the session,” NBC Sports reports.
Burrow has an elite mindset when it comes to working out. This is something he recently discussed with The Athletic (and something which other NFL figures have commented on). Burrow told The Athletic: “I don’t go into my workouts every day thinking I’ve got to outwork this guy. I’ve got to outwork myself from yesterday.”
Also reported by The Athletic, Dan Pitcher, The Bengals’ quarterback coach has said of Burrow: “He’s the toughest guy mentally I have been around” and “he’s the most confident person I’ve ever been around.”
The key to developing an elite mindset, it seems, is not to compare yourself to others in the gym (whether they are intimidating you, or whether, in the case of someone like Joe Burrow, they are probably not as fit as you). Oh, and follow Lewis Hamilton’s example of not ego lifting too; ensure you have good form for everything, and you should be on the right track…

One of Norway’s most popular attractions will send a chill down your spine. It’s called Kjeragbolten, and it involves standing on a boulder trapped between two cliff faces, suspended hundreds – if not thousands – of feet in the air.
A terrifying lookout point in Norway is continuing to shock tourists from all around the world. The natural attraction is called Kjeragbolten. It’s a big old rock trapped between two sheer cliff faces, over a drop that will make your palms ooze with sweat.
Other than (presumably) providing thousands of peoples’ “look how adventurous I am” dating profile pictures, Kjeragbolten also recently made some ~waves~ on Instagram, where a video posted by Joseph “Joe” Ancog Cabahug racked up some 92,000 views. The video showed Joe walking onto the rock and dabbing (except with his head pointed at the sky), Usain Bolt style.
The video sent some Instagram users into paralysis by proxy (or something like that), with one writing: “I had tingling go through my legs watching this.” Another commented: “I got anxious watching this.” A further comment was: “I did it last year. In slippery conditions snow/rain its terrifying – 900 meter free drop.”
“Anyone else just instantly get 127 hours and final destination in their head?”
Instagram user @tasha_lala1
Others suggested, though dangerous, it isn’t quite as scary as it looks. One Instagram user, for instance, wrote: “I was 9 the first time I stood on this rock…no one tells you it’s flat on top and a ledge to walk over…still a favourite walk, can’t wait for my son to be old enough to complete the top.”
According to Unusual Traveller, “Despite it seeming very dangerous, there hasn’t been a Krejagbolten death recorded due to someone falling from the rock. There are, however, 11 Kjerag deaths of people who have died from Base Jumping, but none of those deaths have been from falling off this world-famous boulder.”
Notably, there are no fences stopping tourists from accessing Krejagbolten, nor any requirement for you to have a guide. There is a chain lying on the ground to help you step out onto Kjerag, but as Earthtrekkers put it: “it almost seemed more dangerous bending over to grab it than just stepping out onto the boulder unassisted.” Many people do the hike with kids, too (if not this last part on the rock).
It’s hard to imagine something like this existing in America, without there being all sorts of health and safety regulations (or without all sorts of things going horribly wrong). But anyway… Apparently, this lookout point is not even the most perilous piece of rock (in terms of the likelihood for it to crumble) in the area. There is another, much larger, flat rock platform along the walk where people often picnic which – though not deemed likely to fall any time soon (geologists are constantly updating their assessments) – some believe is more likely to fall sooner than the iconic wedged boulder everyone takes photos on.
RELATED: Influencers Are Provoking Environmentalists By Posing In Dangerous Locations
Kjeragbolten is in southern Norway. The closest town is Lysebotn, which is a 7.5 drive from Oslo (and 15 minutes away by car from Kjeragbolten). Most people stay in Stavanger though, to do the Kjeragbolten hike. Stavanger is a two-and-a-half-hour drive to the Kjeragbolten hike car park. Importantly, you can fly from Oslo to Stavanger, avoiding the 7.5-hour drive.
As for the hike itself, it’s a distance of 12 kilometres, has an elevation gain of 570 metres and takes 6-8 hours. It should only be done in summer, and any person with reasonable fitness should be able to do it in the right conditions.
