Influencer Jailed After Taking Provocative Pyramid Photo

If you have a travel fling (or cultural epiphany) and don’t post it to Instagram, did it even happen?Unfortunately, unlike the old “if a tree falls in the woods and no-one hears it” scenario, we’ll never know the answer to the above question as – it seems – no one is able to resist the temptation to live blog every waking moment of their overseas travels.Fortunately, however, it makes for some entertaining news. Enter: Vitaly Zdorovetskiy, the most recent influencer to run into hot water (or, rather, an Egyptian jail), for climbing one of the pyramids of Giza to get the perfect Instagram snapshot.

The American-Russian influencer/travel blogger recently revealed he’d spent several days in an Egyptian jail after climbing one of the pyramids of Giza.“I was locked up in Egypt because I climbed the Pyramids of Giza,” he wrote. “I’ve been in Jail many times but this one was by far the very worst. I saw horrible things and I don’t wish this upon anybody.”However, he then claimed it was not only worth it, but for charity: “Was it worth it? F— YEAH! I did it for a good cause and soon I’m going to share the whole video so the whole world can see.”Although the post has received over 197,315 likes, not everyone was convinced of his altruism, with several commenters complaining it was all a publicity stunt.“Why don’t you donate your money! Instead of climbing around on a [sic] ancient historical for no reason!” wrote one Instagram user, to the tune of 2,361 likes.

I did this for a good cause and it put me 5 nights in Egyptian jail. Even though I’ve been in jail around the world many times for my previous stunts, this one has been the most horrible experience of my life. Let’s unite and donate for Australia.I hope the world will hear me!

This would also appear to be the stance of the Egyptian parliament, who, as The Sun reported, “decided that it was illegal to climb the pyramids in November.” According to Fox News (who sourced their information from The Sun), “Anyone who violates this law can face thousands of dollars in fines and up to 30 days in jail.”Vitaly also uploaded a provocative picture before his arrest (and, presumably, before his climbing of the pyramid), in which he bragged that he was going to take over Egypt.

This Could Be The Most Frightening Menswear Trend Of 2020
This Could Be The Most Frightening Menswear Trend Of 2020

Runway fashion shows give us a good indication as to what we can expect to be wearing in the next year. But if Berluti’s recent winter 2020 collection is anything to go by, the future is bleak. That’s because the French fashion house wants us all to be rocking leather suits. Yes, you read that right. Suits. Made of leather.Leather jackets have been a menswear essential ever since they were popularised in the 1970s and 80s – think Indiana Jones, Grease’s Danny Zuko, and Top Gun’s Maverick. Equally, leather pants have always had a presence in menswear fashion, although not worn nearly as much. They’re seeing somewhat of a comeback, courtesy of people such as Ben Simmons and Chadwick Boseman. The jury is most definitely still out here at D’Marge as to whether leather suits is a look we can see taking off or not. But if it does, it could well be one of the most frightening trends for the year ahead.Berluti has been pushing leather suits for some time and has been the point of call for celebrities such as Zayn Malik when some leather tailoring is on the ‘to buy’ list. As separates, we can get on board with Berlutii’s vision. But blazer, pants and even a leather shirt thrown in for good measure, we have to start asking questions. We could be on our own in having those thoughts, though, as a quick look at the comments on Berluti’s official Instagram post shows much support for the gimp leather suit. “I need!”, “Iconic already” and “Dope swag 100%” all feature. If you too believe leather suits to be “dope”, then you can pick up the current season’s leather blazer for US$6,550, and a shirt for $4,100. If you want the pants, you’ll have to wait for next season’s wares to be released.

The Secrets To Successfully Dating A Taller Woman
The Secrets To Successfully Dating A Taller Woman

Despite every dating taboo we’ve smashed, one remains irritatingly persistent – the romantic equivalent of the mosquito that insists on buzzing by your ear in the middle of the night, its whining bloodlust obliterating any hope of beauty rest. We’re talking about dating while short. After a lifetime of being picked last for basketball and subjected to Napoleon jokes, you may have resigned yourself to singlehood. But why let the vertically blessed have all the fun?Good things do come in small packages – in fact, science says short men make better partners – so it’s time to get over your fear of height(s). Get a leg up on the competition with these tips for dating a taller woman.

Don’t Dismiss Her

taller woman
Jason Statham & Rosie Huntington-Whiteley
Hockey Hall of Famer Wayne Gretzky said it best: “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.” Don’t take it for granted that tall women are only interested in men who are taller than they are. Not only is it a tired stereotype, it’s an excuse for your own cowardice and insecurities. Your height difference is irrelevant if you have chemistry in other ways. She might even get off on being taller than you.In the event a woman does reject you on the basis of your stature, consider yourself lucky. You filtered out a shallow person who wouldn’t be a compatible partner anyway. Tall bullet dodged.

Own It

taller woman
Seth Green & Clare Grant
Mental game is everything. Confidence is hot no matter how you stack up against a measuring tape, but it’s especially important for shorter men. How you see yourself is how others see you. If you act like your height is a hindrance, she’ll pick up on your insecurity and see you as less attractive as a result. If you own every inch like you’re Yao Ming, you ooze the kind of cool self-assurance no one can resist.Your poise in the face of a taller date also sends important signals about your character. From a woman’s point of view, a guy who isn’t hung up on looking “manly” or feeling “emasculated” doesn’t give a s—t about arbitrary rules. He’s more likely to be comfortable with any other ways she bucks gender stereotypes – like earning more money – and with her ambition, intellect, talent, and confidence. He will never make her feel small in order to make himself feel bigger.

Don’t Bring It Up

taller woman
Sean Penn & Charlize Theron
For the love of Danny DeVito, don’t open with a comment, question, or joke about her height. Every guy has tried it, and to say she’s over it would be an understatement. That gorgeous Amazonian goddess wants nothing more than to be approached like she’s normal (because, spoiler alert, she is). No intro is less impressive than talking about the most obvious attribute about her. Instead, catch her off-guard by not bringing it up at all. Your refreshing take signals confidence and will make you stand out for the right reasons.

Don’t Pull A Cruise

taller woman
Tom Cruise & Katie Holmes
Rumour has it Tom Cruise uses an arsenal of Hollywood tricks to appear taller, including standing on boxes, wearing lifts in his shoes, and cleverly framing shots to change the perspective. While it may work for a larger-than-life movie star, relying on height-enhancing gimmicks reeks of desperation in real life. Equally unattractive is overcompensation, so cool it with the humblebrags about your high-powered career and your monster member. A tall woman will notice your discomfort with the height difference and start to feel uncomfortable in return. If there’s one thing that’s unattractive in everyone, it’s bitterness.

Do Pull A Hart… Without The Cheating Bit

taller woman
Kevin Hart & Eniko Parrish
Take a cue from one of Hollywood’s most successful pocket-sized celebrities. Kevin Hart has the presence of a guy twice his size (and the multi-million dollar net worth to prove it). It’s all in his attitude. “Anything that a person thinks they can say, I disarm them by saying it myself,” he says. “Self deprecation. I do it before they do.” Hart owns his stature with just the right amount of fearlessness, self-awareness, and humour – a combo magnetic enough to hold his own opposite David Beckham and woo his beautiful wife Eniko Parrish.

Highlight Your Other Qualities

taller woman
Keith Urban & Nicole Kidman
Height is hardly the only thing you have going for you – and if it is, you have way bigger things to worry about than whether you’ll have a date for Saturday night. Put the spotlight on other things that make you awesome and let your A+ personality shine through. Talk about your travels, your hobbies, and your interesting career. Show off your sense of humour. Be attentive and chivalrous. Be the guy any man or woman would look up to, regardless of the length of his inseam.

Enhance What You Have

taller woman
George Clooney & Stacy Keibler
Unless you’re David Bowie, we don’t suggest trying to pull off platforms, but there are subtle ways to make the most of what you’ve got. Stand up straight with your shoulders back and your head held high (good posture is important anyway). Style your hair with extra volume on top and wear shoes with a slightly thicker sole. Avoid baggy clothes, cuffed hems, and horizontal stripes that will make you look stumpy. Instead choose more tailored items, perhaps with vertical stripes, and wear a solid colour from head to toe. A streamlined look can help elongate your body, while anything that creates a visual break truncates your frame.

Treat Her Like A Lady

taller woman
Ethan Hawk & Uma Thurman
She may be able to take you in a wrestling match, but she’s still a lady and wants to be treated as such. Tall women regularly complain that their dates don’t make them feel feminine, and while there’s an argument to be made that the idea that “taller = mannish” is societal nonsense, we’d never fault a woman for wanting to experience some fairytale Prince Charming shit. Make the first move. Be the big spoon. Don’t discourage her from wearing heels. Put your arm around her waist. Offer a hand as she steps out of a car. Sweep her off her feet in whatever way you can, since you might slip a disc if you tried to do it literally.

Don’t Just Tolerate, Appreciate

taller woman
Daniel Radcliffe & Erin Darke
A tall woman has internalised all the same stereotypes you have. She’s been told that women are supposed to be smaller than men, that it’s a turn off if they’re not, that guys are intimidated by her size, that a genetic quirk she has absolutely no control over is emasculating and embarrassing. After years of hearing this baloney, her confidence may need a boost just as much as yours does. Do more than accept your height difference. Tell her it’s sexy – that it’s not just something you’re ok with, it’s something you love about her, just like you love her wicked sense of humour and her ability to quote Arnold Schwarzenegger movies.

Think Of The Perks

taller woman
Ryan Gosling & Ana de Armas, Blade Runner 2049
She’s easy to spot in crowds, you can share t-shirts, she can reach stuff on the high shelves, and she makes you look like a badass. Everybody wins.

Study Finds The Simple Secret To Looking Younger
Study Finds The Simple Secret To Looking Younger

We all know the term ‘beauty sleep’. Bandied about on a daily basis, with many of us cancelling invitations to social gatherings because of it, ‘beauty sleep’ is the idea that if we don’t get a good night’s rest, our appearance the next day will take a hit.But did you know there’s evidence to suggest that so-called beauty sleep is a genuine thing and not just some made-up idiom? ScienceDaily reports that scientists at the University of Manchester have discovered and explained what happens to our skin every night after we shut our eyes, and how getting more hours in can keep us looking young. The secret lies with the collagen in our skin. The researchers explain that over half our body weight is “extracellular matrix, which provides structural and biomechanical support to cells in the form of connective tissue such as bone, skin, tendon and cartilage.”They go on to say that half of the extracellular matrix, is collagen. It’s long been thought that the collagen levels in our body are fully formed by the time we reach the young age of 17. But the Manchester Uni scientists have now discovered there are in fact two types of fibrils (rope-like structures of collagen): thicker fibrils that are permanent and become fully formed by the time we reach 17; and thinner fibrils “that break as we subject the body to rigours of day but replenish at night.”It’s these thinner fibrils that hold the power in keeping us looking youthful. Lead author of the study, Professor Karl Kadler, says “It’s intuitive to think our matrix should be worn down by wear and tear, but it isn’t and now we know why: our body clock makes an element which is sacrificial and can be replenished, protecting the permanent parts of the matrix.”

“And just like you need to oil a car and keep its radiator topped up with water, these thin fibrils help maintain the body’s matrix.”

So forget all the fancy creams with their marketing talk. You can get youthful-looking skin from some good quality sleep instead.

Important Rules Tourists Need To Know Before Dating In Scotland
Important Rules Tourists Need To Know Before Dating In Scotland

Heading to the land of Braveheart in the hope of finding your one true love?To many, Scotland will likely conjure up images of rain, misery and deep-fried Mars bars. But it’s time to rethink the stereotype, as Scotland was voted the most beautiful country in the world by readers of Rough Guide. No easy task when you consider the landscapes countries the world over have to offer. With beauty, culture, and Haggis at every turn, the possibilities for dating in Scotland are almost endless. But to help give you a one-up on anyone else touching down by plane or arriving by train, we spoke to professional dating coach and Edinburgh-native Val Sampson, to get the inside scoop on what it takes to win over a hen and where the best places to visit are.

Online Dating Has Its Downsides

Val tells us that “dating issues in Scotland and Edinburgh are pretty much the same as everywhere else in the western world.”With a generation heavily engaged in app-based and online dating, its the most common route for people to find dates. But Val goes on to explain, “most daters meet online, and there are the usual hopes and fears about how authentic a potential partner’s online persona may be.”

“And when you do finally meet in real life, will they turn out to match your expectations or be a massive disappointment. Or look like their photos. Or be 20 years older than their profile alleges.”

Or, they could be like Edinburgh-based musician Ross Arthur, who used Tinder to plug his own single, only to be banned by the dating site for violating terms of service.

Prepare To Travel

If you want to date a Scottish lass, prepare yourself for some hefty train or plane bills, as Val explains: “Edinburgh is a very cosmopolitan city and there are a lot of people who split their time working between here and in London, so you can’t guarantee that you’ll always be in the same place when you are arranging further dates.”

Train Your Ears

“And don’t assume that people are English just because they don’t have a Scottish accent. The posher a Scottish person is, the more English they sound. But they’ll be very offended if you query their Scottish heritage, so tread carefully on that one.”

Succumb To The Arts

So you’ve secured yourself a date. Where do you take them? Val says: “Edinburgh is a fantastic place for the arts – after all, it’s home to the biggest arts festival in the world for the whole of August (the Fringe Festival) – and you can scarcely turn a corner in the city centre without bumping into an art gallery, a theatre of a funky cinema.”

Enjoy A Drink Or Several

Prefer to drink than stare at a canvas? No problem. “There are some excellent cocktail bars in and around George St. in the centre of town. Panda and Sons is a fun place for a first encounter; it’s a Prohibition-style speakeasy with a nod to vintage barbershops. And Bramble, one of the most highly recommended, is tucked away in a basement beneath a dry cleaner. It’s well hidden but well worth seeking out.”

Be Open To Family Life

Not every first date is going to result in finding the love of your life, the world doesn’t work so easy. But in Scotland, there’s more chance of you being on the receiving end of the ‘family’ chat, although casual encounters definitely exist.

“While there’s usually a hook up culture among university students (and Edinburgh has three unis, so it’s definitely a youthful vice), Scots are family minded, often marrying in their mid to late twenties, unlike their London counterparts where marriage is often delayed until 30 plus.”

“It might be due to cultural differences – enjoying time with your family is a cool thing to do here [in Edinburgh] – or down to the very practical reason of it being much easier to buy your own place together, as prices are significantly cheaper than London.”

Embrace Scottish Culture

While some places are best to visit when the mercury begins to rise (Sydney, for example, is best enjoyed in glorious sunshine), Scotland has plenty to offer come rain or shine.

“There are major summer and winter attractions which bring in visitors from all over the world. Quite a few like it so much they end up falling in love with the place and moving here.”

“The aforementioned Fringe Festival means the city hosts around 3,000 events from magic to stand up comedy every day in August.”

A post shared by Brittany Bennett (@brrittanybennett) on

“Not only does that mean there is something catering for every taste date-wise, but it’s also a great opportunity to meet new people. Talking to your neighbours in the queue for a show is a well-trodden path for making friends or lovers.”

“Suggest a drink in one of the many late night bars after the show and it’s unlikely you’ll be turned down.”

End The Year With A Bang

“Equally, Christmas and Hogmanay mean that the city is lit up like the backdrop to a rom-com movie”, Val explains

“And if you tire of drinking mulled wine in the Christmas market that runs in Princes St Gardens in the middle of town, you can walk for an hour or so up Arthur’s Seat, the ancient volcano on the southern edge of the city which offers a great view summer and winter alike.”

“If all that feels a bit conventional, and you’d prefer a wild night with a group of pagans, look no further than the winter and summer solstice celebrations organised by the Beltane Fire Society. There’s painted faces, naked bodies and a whole lot of drumming. It definitely makes for a date with a difference.”

Bowral’s Latest Attraction Reveals Why ‘Power Couples’ Are Bailing On Sydney
Bowral’s Latest Attraction Reveals Why ‘Power Couples’ Are Bailing On Sydney

“Hell no.”Less than 10 years ago this was the response you’d get from a high-flying Sydneysider, if you asked whether they’d consider going “regional.”However, as wooden chopping boards and flannel shirts infiltrate Sydney, all it takes is a weekend down the coast to see it hasn’t been a one-way exchange. Why? Big shot CEO’s and ‘power couples’ can now be seen up to their knees in organic fertiliser, with a copy of “An Idiot’s Guide To Permaculture” tucked into their back pocket.Exaggeration aside, Yuppies (and Boomers whose kids have flown the nest) are buying up rural property and making the urban to country switch. While there are a variety of reasons for this sea country-change, Biota and its little brother The Barn are top-class restaurants in Bowral, NSW, which account for (or at least represent) two of them: sustainability and community.

The Barn, Biota’s little brother, is a gastronomic experience that can be booked twice a month, and which takes place at East Kangaloon, on a 100-acre property two hours south of Sydney.
Wracked with guilt, Sydneysiders decide to offset a lifetime of capitalism by purchasing a farm (or by contributing to the regional economy for a weekend). While that’s a cruel caricature… a lot of good work is being done, with Biota and The Barn being two such examples: classy, small scale operations that embodies the country philosophy, bringing diners farm-to-table produce that rarely fails to impress.Capitalising on this growing sustainable foodie trend is James Viles, one of Australia’s most respected young chefs and restaurateurs, recognized particularly for his commitment to sustainability and his imaginative modern food. James is also an Electrolux ambassador, as well as the owner (and chef) of the two-hatted Bowral restaurant Biota and The Barn.
Like Biota, Barn offers a high-end dining experience with a hyper-local focus on the region’s produce.
When asked about the growing city to country trend, and how it is affecting regional centres, James told D’Marge, “Yes I have noticed this, especially in Bowral, it’s definitely growing and is becoming much more sophisticated in the town centre in terms of what is being offered from restaurants to shops.”

“People visiting have more of an expectation now that rural areas will cater to their likes, which in many ways is a good thing as it creates jobs and opportunities for people in more rural areas that didn’t exist before.”

James added, “Property prices in the city are also crazy, and young people need to move further out if they want to afford something. But instead of moving 15km from the city and being on the edge, they want something completely different, if they can’t have the ultimate city lifestyle.”“For both old and young, it’s lifestyle and mental health, people are wanting to slow down, have a better work-life balance and spend time doing things and spending time with people that mean something,” James continued. “It’s much easier to live more mindfully when you’re surrounded by likeminded people in places like Byron and Bowral.”As for food, James explains, “We emphasise the importance of the ingredients and knowing their origins at The Barn and Biota. Knowing where your food comes from though isn’t just about the location it came from. It starts from knowing what it has eaten, where its food has been, how it has been treated, the environment it has been in.”

“This is farming with integrity and it’s important that people know this because we need to respect it from start to finish as it starts its consumer journey.”

James also told us, “Society seems to have lost its touch with nature a little bit but they are hungry to get it back but they’re just not sure which way to go and how to it get back so I think we’re going to see a lot of off-grid things happening that will force us to disconnect in order to connect.”

Beyond the barn door, there’s a roaring campfire for pre-dinner drinks, as well as farm animals and such foraging adventures as beehives, fruit and nut orchards, paddocks or even yabbying on the property’s dam. In other words: worth an overnight stay.
This in mind, James encourages anyone thinking of moving down to Bowral (or anyone looking to boost the eco-friendliness of their house, wherever it is), “Think about why it is you are moving and what you want to get out of the experience. Do you want to sell product, or use it for your own home?”“This will help inform the type of property you find and what you prioritise spending your time on. [Also] get involved in local events and groups, this will help build your community and friendships in a new area. I think people underestimate how difficult it can be.”

“It’s an easier life in some ways but starting from scratch can be a burden financially and mentally, if you’re used to a certain way of life in the city.”

“I think people need to start off small when making these changes,” James added, “because otherwise it might come as a little bit of a shock to the system. They can start off with planter boxes and herbs so they’re not relying on store-bought herbs. This way they can pick them as they’re needed and in turn reducing waste. This is easy to do even if you live in an apartment so there’s no excuses not to give it a go.”

“You can work your way up from there and start planting different fruit and veggies that are in season.”

“Ultimately, the level of eco-friendly you can go depends on your home so if you’re living in an apartment in the city, you’d have to look at different avenues of sustainability rather than installing a pond or solar panels,” James then told us. “Having good quality appliances, like a fridge from Electrolux with features that allow for the perfect cooling environment, will mean your fruit and vegetables will last for longer and less need for wastage.”Your next country adventure awaits.

Why Flying Business Class Is Actually A Smart Financial Decision
Why Flying Business Class Is Actually A Smart Financial Decision

If flying cattle class is like spending the night at a budget swingers club (sweaty straddles and all), flying business-class is like partying in an overpriced cocktail lounge (pretentious purple lighting and all). But that’s not to say it isn’t financially astute.Much like it would be fiscally suicidal for a first-year uni student to mingle with Ibiza’s elite, if you’re staying in a three-star hotel or less you shouldn’t even think about flying business.Likewise: it’s a no brainer for those with cash to burn to eschew the dingy discotheques in favour of the VIP table (or trade economy for business). But this article is not aimed at either of these demographics. This piece is for: those who can afford to fly business-class but aren’t sure if it’s a smart investment; those who fly business with work but who hesitate before ballin’ with their own money; those who are in line for a Rolex Daytona, but don’t know how they are going to pay for it. Those who are pretty much there but haven’t quite made it.You get the picture.Anyway, these are all the reasons, if you can afford to fly business without completely blowing out your budget, you may be well-advised to do so.

You’re only as successful as you are rested

Your aspiring unicorn startup may be a thirsty beast, but so is your cerebral cortex. And deprive it of sleep and that million-dollar pitch may come out of your mouth as loose change. So – even if you’re not travelling on corporate dime – it may well be worth flying business-class with your own money should you be on the hustle.

You can work while you fly

Likewise, and at the risk of repeating the LinkedIn mantra “time is money”… well… time is money. And if you can’t afford to waste tiempo watching re-runs of The Fast & The Furious and contesting your neighbour’s claim to your armrest then you might be better off tippety-tapping your laptop in business.

You can make priceless connections

Though this point is overstated by LinkedIn bloggers and their nouveau genre of say-nothing literature (6 Ways Entrepreneurs Can Stay Productive On A Plane! Vital Tips For Packing Your Entrepreneur Suitcase!), Neil Patel makes a good point in his Entrepreneur article ‘Is It Worth It Flying Business Class‘ explaining how one conversation turned into an important connection.“Once, I introduced myself to a guy while flying from San Francisco to Las Vegas. He asked me the typical question, ‘What do you do?’ I wanted to take a nap, so I tried to end the conversation quickly by saying, ‘Oh, I work at Microsoft. What about you?'”

“‘I work in the construction industry,’ he said. ‘I have a handful of kids, so I stay pretty busy.'”

“The conversation could have ended there,” Neil writes… “but I tried to be polite by saying something nice: ‘Wow, that must be pretty intense – working construction while providing for a big family.'”

“‘Well, yeah,’ he said. ‘So, what do you do at Microsoft?'”, to which Neil replies… “You know – some stuff around analytics and data.'”

“‘Have you heard of KISSmetrics?” he quickly responded. “It was co-founded by a guy named Hiten Shah.”“I was the other ‘co-founder’ with Shah,” Neil reveals, “but my seatmate probably didn’t recognize me. (I look a bit different now.)”

“Yeah. I’ve heard of it, I replied. I’m the co-founder. Hiten Shah is my brother-in-law. And, I don’t really work at Microsoft. I just say that, as it’s easier than explaining what I really do.”

“He stared at me for a solid five seconds. Then he laughed and said: ‘Well, I’m not really in the construction industry. I mean, I do work around it, but I’m actually a tech entrepreneur. I buy and sell web businesses.'”

“We went on to talk the entire flight.”

“His name was Jonathan,” Neil continues. “And Jonathan turned out to be an amazing business connection. He introduced me to his friends at The Carlyle Group and gave me shares in one of his companies that was later sold. We ended up working together on several deals.

“He even sent me a $3,000 bottle of Louis XIII Cognac.”

Layovers are a breeze

From purgatory to palace: it’s hard to overstate the difference taking a bath in a fancy lounge vs. sitting slumped at Maccas makes to your cortisol levels. Priceless.

You learn things

People watching is great in every class of the airline. But while cattle-class is “gallows humour” business class is “Ted Talk.”

Hedonism has tangible benefits

While this excuse has been used by everyone from Charlie Sheen to Christopher Hitchens to justify their self-destructive habits, science has shown hedonism can be good for your health. And when you weigh up the psychologist bills you may incur after experiencing the Chinese water torture of having the person in front of you (in Economy) reclining their seat (and then putting it back up) at unceasing half-hour intervals throughout an entire 15 hour red-eye, that $5,000 business class ticket starts looking cheap.

Nutrition

They don’t pay those celebrity chefs for nothing. And if time is money, macro-nutrients are (brain) power. Not to mention, as Monique Tran, Menu Analyst at United Airlines recently told D’Marge, “There is a great production of chefs, caterers, menu developers and specialists that are responsible for producing an exquisite dining menu for United Airlines… [with] a particular focus on curating a menu that doesn’t compromise on flavour and texture when our sense of smell and taste alter when flying.”While this is consistent across all classes, particularly when it comes to their business-class offering [Polaris], “meals include a wider variety of selections, with a focus on ensuring we deliver restaurant-quality meals.”“The development behind a United Polaris menu starts with a menu workshop with numerous stakeholders – from growers and farmers through to airline caterers and manufacturers,” Monique continued.

“Starting with over 100 creations in the initial menu workshop, United then conduct an intimate tasting panel consisting of experts across specific cuisines to taste and rate every dish… a very thorough process in order to provide the very best in gourmet fine dining in the skies.”

And that’s just one airline: others, like Qantas, Emirates, Qatar, Cathay Pacific and Etihad (to name a few) all engage in similar processes to distinguish their pointy-end offering from economy (and the respective business-classes of their competitors).
