The Giordano TikTok filter is currently trending on the video-sharing social media platform, TikTok, with most uses of the filter being to prank unsuspecting people into thinking there is someone creeping up behind them.
But where did the Giordano filter come from and how is it used? Read on to find out.
What is the Giordano TikTok filter?
The Giordano TikTok filter is a visual effect of an old man with one eye closed and wearing a blue hoodie, that, when used, will appear behind whoever is in the camera frame and look as though he is creeping up on them. The Giordano filter is most commonly used to prank people into thinking there is someone behind them, and usually reacting in hilarious ways.
Origin of the Giordano TikTok filter.
The Giordano filter was created by TikTok user Luca Bellei (@lucabellei27) who is the son of Giordano seen in the filter. Luca posted a video showing the Giordano TikTok filter being used for the first time on the 15th of June 2022. Luca collaborated with fellow Italian TikTok content creator, @aida.creator, to bring the filter to life.
Luca’s video has received over 5,000 likes at the time of publishing, but the true viral nature of the filter can be realised when you find out it has been used in over 236,000 TikTok videos. British TikToker @georgehalsey8 is credited as being the first person to use the Giordano filter, in a video where he uses it on himself and asks “who is this donnie?” George’s video has received 52,000 likes at the time of publishing.
Giordano TikTok Filter goes viral
Since George posted his video, also on the 15th of June, the Giordano TikTok filter has gone viral, with the majority of TikTok users using it to prank their friends and family. Below are some of the best uses of the Giordano filter.

Harry Garside, the Australian boxer, is a massive advocate for getting out of your comfort zone, not just to improve your physical condition, but for mental performance too. Fresh from revealing why he takes cold showers in the morning, Harry has now revealed a super simple alternative to the much-encouraged ice bath.
Harry Garside recently shared on his Instagram story a simple technique you can try (especially if you’re in Australia right now) that will gift you all the benefits of taking an ice bath, without having to actually get in one.
WATCH: Harry Garside Takes A Cold Dip In The Ocean
After finishing a training session with his girlfriend Ash, Harry says the pair were inspired by the “ice bath thing” – DMARGE understands he’s referring to a breath work program conducted by Australian breath work trainer, @breathless_expeditions – and so is going to jump in the ocean.
A follow-up video posted on his girlfriend’s Instagram story does indeed show Harry jumping into the ocean at night, with the temperature being recorded at 7-degrees. That, of course, is the air temperature and not the temperature of the water, but it probably won’t be far off. And, considering a ‘normal’ ice bath temperature should be around 10-15 degrees Celsius, Harry shows that an ocean swim can be a simple alternative to the incredibly popular form of recovery.
We’ve previously discussed the benefits of both ice baths and cold water immersion. Dutch endurance athlete Wim Hof is perhaps to most well-known ambassador for the humble ice bath, and he has previously explained their benefits for your mental health, “Receptors creating noradrenaline, 540% more, Dopamine, 250-300% more, it’s all science, this will battle effectively your mental disorder called depression, bipolar or any other… coming to you. You are able to get back into sense. Deep sense. Into you. Yourself.”
However, if you’ve never taken an ice bath before, it’s not something you can simply go jumping into (literally). Training is required to help minimise and prevent the risk of contracting conditions such as hypothermia. An ocean swim could, therefore, be a safer alternative, owing to the fact the temperature of the water isn’t going to be as cold.
If you still need some convincing to strip down to your swimmers and dive head first into the ocean, just ask anyone that already does it as a daily ritual. We’ve often spoken to people who go for a dip in the ocean every morning, and not once have they said they felt worse.

No Time To Die actress Ana de Armas has revealed she thinks that the James Bond franchise should stay faithful to the book and the Bond character should remain a dude…
Ana de Armas has quickly become one of Hollywood’s most beloved actresses. Plus, she’s got an impressive resume – de Armas has starred in Blade Runner 2049, Knives Out and the upcoming film, The Gray Man.
de Armas also had a small but memorable role in the James Bond film, No Time To Die. The actress played Paloma, a Cuban Intelligence operative who helped Bond, played by Daniel Craig, capture Valdo Obruchev.
RELATED: Why Casino Royale Is Still The Best Bond Film Ever
As No Time To Die was Craig’s final performance as the iconic 007 spy, there has been non-stop speculation over who will be the next Bond. And some have even suggested that the next Bond should be played by a woman.
But in a recent interview with The Sun, de Armas voiced her opinion on the matter; and it appears she is not on board with there being a female Bond.

“There’s no need for a female Bond. There shouldn’t be any need to steal someone else’s character, you know, to take over. This is a novel, and it leads into this James Bond world and this fantasy of that universe where he’s at.”
Ana de Armas
de Armas went on to clarify that her opinion doesn’t mean she’s not a feminist; she simply thinks Bond was originally written as a male character and so, he should stay that way. On the other hand, de Armas does want female roles in the Bond franchise to become more “substantial.”
RELATED: Sorry James Bond, Austin Powers Is Better
“What I would like is that the female roles in the Bond films, even though Bond will continue to be a man, are brought to life in a different way. That they’re given a more substantial part and recognition. That’s what I think is more interesting than flipping things.”
Ana de Armas
Of course, No Time To Die had stronger female roles than any other Bond film that came before it – Lashana Lynch’s Nomi and de Armas’ Paloma, for instance – so surely, de Armas will get her wish and future Bond instalments will continue to introduce significantly female characters as opposed to the infamous and sexist ‘Bond girl’ trope.

Barney Stinson, the popular character from How I Met Your Mother, had a huge impact on pop culture. But in recent years, it’s become clear that he was a tad problematic, meaning a character like him will probably never grace our screens again. But does this leave our TV shows better off, or boring?
The year was 2005. George W. Bush was the President of the United States, YouTube had just been launched, Prince Charles finally married his mistress Camilla and Lance Armstrong triumphantly won his seventh straight Tours de France (triumphantly because, you know, this was before it had proven he’d been using performance-enhancing drugs).
The sitcom How I Met Your Mother also aired on our televisions for the first time and introduced us to Ted Mosby, a man telling his children the story of how he met their mother. The series became an instant classic and went on to win 10 Primetime Emmys among many other countless awards.
Not only did How I Met Your Mother introduce us to Ted, a hopeless romantic desperate to find the love of his life, but we also met Marshall Eriksen, Robin Scherbatsky, Lily Aldrin and Barney Stinson… arguably one of the most iconic – and retrospectively problematic – characters of all time.
Played by Neil Patrick Harris, Barney Stinson had a huge impact on pop culture and despite being a fictional character, influenced the real world in multiple ways. Barney’s catchphrases, like “Suit up!”, “Legendary!” and “Wait for it”, became things people would regularly say in real life back in the mid to late 2000s.

Plus, Barney had four books published in real life – The Bro Code, Bro on the Go, The Playbook and Bro Code for Parents: What to Expect When You’re Awesome. Seriously, the fictional character Barney Stinson is listed as the co-author of these books, which are still available for purchase in most bookstores and websites (the other co-author is Matt Kuhn, who was a staff writer for How I Met Your Mother).
And while Barney was beloved, in hindsight, he did many things over the course of How I Met Your Mother’s nine seasons that were extremely problematic. He regularly lied to women to get them into bed – examples include The Lorenzo Von Matterhorn, The Snasa and The Time Traveller. This is actually a crime, called ‘rape by deception’.
Barney also regularly filmed women during sex, without their consent. Again, this is a crime. Of course, I realise that Barney is a fictional character and most of this behaviour was played for laughs and was not intended to be replicated in the real world. Plus, Harris himself has defended the character; in 2021 the actor told The Guardian:
“Well, my take on How I Met Your Mother is that it was not all real. The structure of the show is future Ted telling his children the story. In doing so, he’s fictionalising the narrative and he’s talking about his friend who was the wingman, the buddy, the guy that was always wanting to party and have fun and make any experience an event. So, I think of Barney as this weird anti-superhero, who when he failed would just make up a story to make him succeed.”
“Some people will be offended by it in retrospect and there’s not much one can do in retrospect. But the experience of making that show for nine seasons was very good energy… and there was never a sense of doing things with bad intent.”
Neil Patrick Harris
WATCH: some of Barney’s most problematic moments from ‘How I Met Your Mother’ involved plays from The Playbook…
As someone who was (and still is) a huge fan of the show, I can recognise some of Barney’s misdeeds were truly awful and if he were a real person, I’d be gunning for him to be put in prison. But I have the ability to separate fact from fiction and have a small soft spot for the character who also licked the Liberty Bell, made laser tag cool again and performed some seriously awesome magic tricks.
I’m sure many feel the same way; I mean, while Marshall was always my favourite character, I knew numerous people who idolised Barney back then and probably still think of the character fondly. However, times have changed and if How I Met Your Mother was released today, it would probably be swiftly cancelled and no one would revere Barney.
Not one recent television show has had a main character like Barney – womanising, depraved and sleazy but presented in a glorified almost heroic way. And that’s because people wouldn’t stand for it; we’ve become better educated; our sensibilities have changed. That’s not to say that television shows no longer show characters engaging in f*cked up behaviour at all, but it’s no longer romanticised the way Barney’s was.
But I’d argue that television hasn’t figured out yet how to create iconically funny characters that aren’t problematic. Look at How I Met Your Mother’s spinoff, How I Met Your Father. The show has the exact same premise, just set in the present with new characters. And yet, it’s nowhere near as funny as the original.

And I think part of why How I Met Your Father isn’t that funny is because there’s no Barney equivalent; for the most part, Barney was the main comic relief of How I Met Your Mother. Sure, some of his ‘hilarity’ came from doing problematic things but, in my opinion, most of his hilarity didn’t.
His obsession with suits, catchphrases, laser tag and convincing everyone blogging was still cool (when it wasn’t) weren’t problematic at all; they were simply funny. Plus, it was admirable that no matter how much Barney’s friends made fun of him, he always continued to confidently be himself (wearing suits, playing laser tag, performing magic tricks, blogging, etc.) But How I Met Your Father, and other current sitcoms, have avoided adding ‘heroic’ or ‘good’ characters that are similar to Barney in any way, shape or form entirely.
It’s like all of Barney’s ‘bad’ has overshadowed the things that made him a good character, to the point where writers endeavour to make sure another Barney is never created or shown onscreen again. And that’s actually a shame. Because when you think about it, it’s kind of cool that a character had such an effect on the world.
Hopefully, someone can and does create a character that has a similar impact on pop culture but isn’t problematic. But the cynic in me says that’s unlikely to happen for quite some time… I guess I’ll just have to ‘wait for it’.

There’s a common query amongst men when it comes to choosing a watch’s dial colour. Does one go black or white?
White dial watches have long been the go-to favourite amongst men looking for a luxury timepiece that’ll stand out from the ground. Not only do they let a watch’s most eye-catching details really shine, but white dial watches can also be paired quite easily with a wide variety of different outfits to satisfy both formal and casual events.
We’ve scoured the globe for the best white dial watches in the game, and these are the best white dial watches to add to your collection.
In this best white dial watches story…
Panerai Submersible QuarantaQuattro Bianco

Kicking off this list is the new Panerai Submersible QuarantaQuattro Bianco. There’s just something about a white dial Panerai that’s really striking, so this had to make this list. The Submersible is their most utilitarian and functional dive watch thanks to its uni-directional rotating bezel with metallic appliques filled with white Super-LumiNova – an indispensable feature for a diving instrument.
It also features Panerai’s locking crown mechanism – a signature of the brand – where a lever-actuated lock integrated into the large semi-circular crown guard keeps the crown from rotating (and therefore compromising the watch’s water-resistance or changing the time).
As the name implies, the Submersible QuarantaQuattro Bianco has a case diameter of 44mm: a real ‘Goldilocks’ size that’s characteristically Panerai (i.e. chunky) without being obnoxiously large.
Retail Price: AU$13,800
Rolex Explorer II ‘Polar’

The Rolex Explorer II ‘Polar’ is one of the iconic brand’s most distinctive watches – in no small part thanks to its stark white dial, an anomaly in Rolex’s range.
Like its more famous sibling, the GMT-Master II ‘Pepsi’, it’s a GMT watch, meaning it can tell the time in multiple time zones thanks to its additional, orange-tipped hours hand. Unlike the GMT-Master, the Explorer II has a fixed steel bezel, which lends it a distinctive and tougher appearance.
The unique combination of a white dial, orange and black accents and a fixed bezel make the Explorer II ‘Polar’ instantly recognisable. It’s one of the most underrated Rolexes in our opinion, and one of the best white dial watches on the market.
Retail Price: AU$13,300
Breitling Avenger Automatic GMT 43

Another handsome GMT watch with a white dial, the Breitling Avenger Automatic GMT 43 is a sporty and aggressive-looking piece perfect for men of action and desk jockeys alike.
Unlike the Explorer II above, this baby has a unidirectional bezel for quick on-the-fly timing and a subtle sloped inner bezel with 24-hour markers, which a bold red-tipped GMT hand points to. The crown is especially knurled so it can be used with gloves – perfect for budding pilots.
It’s also got 300m of water resistance and a hardy textile strap backed with Breitling’s signature yellow leather. What more could you want?
Retail Price: AU$5,990
Shinola Runwell

Simplicity and reliability are hallmarks of Shinola’s Runwell collection – hence the name. The Detroit brand has quickly built up a reputation for good-looking watches for a fair price, and this white dial Runwell is no exception.
Featuring a highly legible train clock-style dial with a small seconds display, the Runwell oozes retro charm. We love the pumpkin crown and thick wire lugs. The stitched brown American leather strap is a nice touch, too.
Inside the case resides Shinola’s workhorse Argonite 1069 Quartz movement which is hand-assembled in Detroit from 46 Swiss and imported components. This is a great white dial watch that won’t hurt your wallet.
Retail Price: AU$960
NOMOS Glashütte Zürich Weltzeit

NOMOS Glashütte is a cool independent watchmaker from Germany that draws inspiration from the Bauhaus movement, one of Germany’s most profound contributions to the world of modern art. Their pieces might be hand-made in Glashütte but they’re designed in Berlin, and it’s easy to see that Berliner influence if you look at one of their watches: NOMOS pieces are clean, minimalist and refined with a consistent and modern aesthetic.
Destined for the global traveller, the Zürich Weltzeit is arguably NOMOS’ most impressive watch and is a truly unique world timer – as well as a stand-out white dial watch. The dial itself is absolutely stunning to look at and features all of the world’s major cities set on a recessed sub-dial. It’s a rather unique look.
A 40mm stainless steel case houses its innovative in-house DUW 5201 NOMOS calibre with automatic winding and a power reserve of 42 hours, which lets you check the time in multiple cities at the push of a button.
Retail Price: AU$8,270
Hamilton Khaki Field

Easily Hamilton’s most iconic timepiece, the Khaki Field is the go-to field watch for any watch aficionado. Rugged, utilitarian and versatile, the Khaki Field is available with in wide variety of sizes, dial finishes and either quartz or mechanical movements – we’ve opted for the latter as it’s more authentic.
White dial field watches like this Hamilton just look great, and this one is the cream of the crop as far as we’re concerned. Its sandblasted stainless steel case houses a manual-winding movement with a ‘weekend proof’ 80-hour power reserve, and comes mounted on a hardy textile NATO strap.
You can also get this one on a steel bracelet, but field watches and NATO straps just make sense together… As do field watches and white dials. It’s a no-brainer.
Retail Price: AU$950
Cartier Santos de Cartier

Cartier is the king of the white dial so we’d be remiss if we didn’t include one of their many fine watches. The natural choice? The Cartier Santos de Cartier, the first wristwatch ever made and an enduring favourite among well-heeled watch fans.
Created in 1904 at the request of enterprising Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont, the modern iteration is available in a wide variety of case materials, sizes and complications. The square, traditionally-styled dial really makes its similarly traditional blue hands pop.
The modern Santos de Cartier also features Cartier’s QuickSwitch system: an invisible mechanism that blends into the structure of the case and makes it a cinch to swap straps – say from a classic leather strap to the Santos’ integrated bracelet.
Retail Price: AU$16,000
Grand Seiko ‘White Birch’

And now for the coolest white dial watch on the market. The winner of the coveted Men’s Watch Prize at the 2021 Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (the watch’s industry’s most important award ceremony) and a true fan favourite, the Grand Seiko ‘White Birch’ is one hell of a timepiece.
Grand Seiko do dials better than anyone in the business, and the White Birch’s is particularly special. It was inspired by the slender white birch tree forests that thrive in the north of Japan, such us those near the Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuishi where it and all Grand Seiko mechanical watches are made.
Also impressive is its movement: a automatic hi-beat calibre with a whopping 80-hour power reserve. As per usual for Grand Seiko, the case and indice finishing on this watch are immaculate, the latter really showing off the zaratsu polishing Grand Seiko is famous for.
Retail Price: AU$13,600

A video has emerged of a former Olympian allegedly ranting and raging at a single mother, accusing her of cutting him off while he was cycling. The ugly scenes have renewed calls for cyclists to pay rego. On the other side of the coin, others are saying this would be unfair, as it’s the 1% who ruin it for the other 99%.
It’s a tale as old as lycra: a cyclist has abused a motorist for a perceived wrong. Now. Before we get into the details we should start with a disclaimer: there are countless examples of motorists being dickheads to cyclists. The whole debacle is a chicken and egg scenario, with dickhead motorists embittering formerly good-natured cyclists (and making them quicker to anger the next time) and vice versa, creating a vicious cycle.
But anyway: back to the story. A former Olympic road racing cyclist has allegedly got up in the grill of a motorist who he (in footage published by 7News) claims to have cut him off. The incident occurred in Brookvale, a suburb on Sydney’s Northern Beaches.

The cyclist allegedly competed at the 1980 Moscow Olympics for Ireland. The mother who copped the verbal spray also appears to have been swatted at a few times by the cyclist, while filming his outburst. The video (see below) shows the road biker open the door of the woman’s car and ask: “Are you f***ing blind?”
“You fat c***. You cut me off, you pulled right in front of me. You nearly knocked me off.”
The woman responds later in the clip: “I was indicating, and I turned … it was perfectly safe.” She also told the man a few times she had dashcams.
The woman told 7News she was “shaking” and couldn’t drive after the incident. She also is said to have given the footage to police, but that at first there was little they could do, seeing as there was nothing to identify the cyclist.
After tip offs to police, the cyclist has now been identified. Lawyer Sam Macedone told 7News though that because road cyclists don’t have registration, it can be hard for police to act in cases like these.
“There’s really nothing you can do because there’s no identification, there’s nothing.”
Lawyer Sam Macedone, speaking to 7News
The Australian Cycle Alliance told 7News that – while they condemn the man’s aggressive behaviour – registering bikes would be expensive and complicated. They also said “this person doesn’t represent cycling any more than he represents people that live in Sydney.”
“It would cost just as much to register a bike as it does to register a car in order to make it financially viable,” the spokesperson said. “Do we start at four-year-olds on their balance bikes … how do you manage when you have multiple bikes?
“The cost of the system would far outweigh the benefit of the system.”
The debate continues. Hopefully, the poor behaviour of the few won’t ruin it for the many.

Breaking Bad is nothing short of iconic. For five seasons, watching Walter White transform from a chemistry high school teacher battling cancer to a certified bad-ass methamphetamine manufacturer was truly gripping.
If you’ve watched the series and wish you could find something just as captivating, you’re in luck as we’ve done the research and put in the ‘hard’ yards watching hours of content (while snacking on popcorn) for you.
So without further ado, if you love Breaking Bad, here are five shows you need to check out.
Better Call Saul

8.8 IMDb score, stars Bob Odenkirk, Crime & Drama, released in 2015, 6 seasons
This one’s kind of a no-brainer. Better Call Saul is a Breaking Bad prequel/spinoff that focuses on fan-favourite character Saul Goodman. The show was co-created by Vince Gilligan, who created Breaking Bad, and it explores how Saul, who used to be known as Jimmy McGill, became the criminal lawyer we know and love from Breaking Bad.
Critically acclaimed with exceptional performances, especially from Bob Odenkirk, if you’re a Breaking Bad fan who hasn’t yet watched Better Call Saul, get to it!
Where To Watch: Stan
Fargo

8.9 IMDb score, stars Billy Bob Thornton, Martin Freeman, Kirsten Dunst, Patrick Wilson, Jesse Plemons, Ted Danson, Ewan McGregor, David Thewlis & Chris Rock, Crime, Drama & Black Comedy, released in 2014, 5 seasons
Fargo is an anthology series meaning each season is set in different eras and locations with different characters and plotlines. However, each season is of the crime drama genre with elements of black comedy – just like Breaking Bad.
Each season also has a compelling story with twists and turns galore. Oh, and the cast list is mighty impressive.
Where To Watch: Stan and/or Netflix
Ozark

8.4 IMDb score, stars Jason Bateman & Laura Linney, Crime, Drama & Thriller, released in 2017, 4 seasons
Ozark is similar to Breaking Bad for a few reasons. First of all, it’s a well-written drama with elements of dark comedy. Plus, its main character, Marty Byrde, is like Walt – a family man engaging in criminal behaviour.
It’s enjoyable to watch Marty walk the fine line between criminal and good father, as it’s a comparable journey to Walt’s and because Jason Bateman does a heck of a job playing the character.
Where To Watch: Netflix
Sons of Anarchy

8.6 IMDb score, stars Charlie Hunnam, Katey Sagal & Mark Boone Junior, Crime, Drama & Thriller, released in 2008, 7 seasons
Sons of Anarchy has a complicated family dynamic, which is obviously similar to Breaking Bad. The series follows Jax, the vice-president of a motorcycle gang, who clashes with his fellow gang members when he discovers his late father wanted the gang to become less criminally involved and violent and therefore, tries to change the gang.
Every cast member turns in powerful performances and the storyline is extremely well-written. You’ll definitely like Sons of Anarchy if you’re a Breaking Bad fan.
Where To Watch: Disney+, Binge and/or Foxtel Now
The Wire

9.3 IMDb score, stars Dominic West, Lance Reddick & Sonja Sohn, Crime, Drama & Thriller, released in 2002, 5 seasons
The Wire explores the Baltimore drug scene which is obviously similar to Breaking Bad which highlights the meth drug scene in Albuquerque. The show is told from the point of view of both policemen and drug gang members, which ultimately challenges the traditional definitions of ‘good’ and ‘bad’.
With masterful storytelling and exceptional performances from the entire cast, The Wire is a must-watch for Breaking Bad lovers.
Where To Watch: Binge and/or Foxtel Now

A ‘before and after’ video uploaded to TikTok shows just how much the landscape of Dubai has changed in just 40 years.
Ask someone today to describe Dubai in a few words and they’ll likely respond with “money,” “the Burj Khalifa” and “more money.” But the city – the most populous in the United Arab Emirates – was all but a desert less than half a century ago.
If you struggle to picture just what that would look like, then fortunately for you, we’ve found a video posted to TikTok by user @michael.pezzaioli, that perfectly juxtaposes how Dubai looked in 1980 compared with 2022.
WATCH: Dubai’s Epic 40-Year Transformation
It’s hard to imagine the images in the video are of the same place, the change is that vast. And, for all your thoughts or opinions on the land of oil and money, you can’t deny the sheer scale and craftsmanship of the infrastructure is nothing short of impressive.
As just mentioned, Dubai’s 40-year glow-up is thanks to the discovery of oil in 1966. Before this, Dubai was a bustling trade location and sourced the bulk of its money from the trading of pearls. This ended in 1930 following the Great Depression 1929 and Dubai actually fell into poverty. A far cry from the ultra-expensive metropolis it has become today.
But Dubai always planned to build big. The city’s former ruler, Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum commissioned British architect John Harris to devise a master plan for the rejuvenation of Dubai in 1959. Following the discovery of oil in territorial waters in 1966, the plan was put into action.
A lot of the building efforts were put into trade, with a huge shipping port being one of the first items of business. Income from the trading port, plus continued income from oil, allowed Dubai to continue growing.
And grow it most certainly has. Dubai is now home to the world’s tallest building; the Burj Khalifa, which stands at 828m tall. However, once construction resumes, Saudi Arabia could eventually take the crown with the Jeddah Tower, which plans to be the first building to be 1km in height.
Being a city of excess and grandeur, Dubai is also home to the world’s second-largest mall, the Dubai Mall, albeit only by total land area (we bet they’re cussing the guys in Iran, which is home to the Iran Mall, the world’s biggest) and what is often regarded as the world’s most luxurious hotel.

The Burj Al Arab, which has hosted several iconic events on the helipad, such as David Coulthard performing doughnuts in an F1 car and Roger Federer playing tennis with Andre Agassi, is the epitome of opulence and wealth and has been described by some critics as the world’s first seven-star hotel.
Dubai is also home to Deep Dive Dubai, home to the world’s deepest pool at 60.02 metres/197ft. Put simply, if there’s an engineering record to be broken, you can be sure Dubai is going to try and break it.
However, Dubai’s oil reserves are expected to eventually run out, with estimates predicting that to happen within the next 20 years. As one commenter on the TikTok video says, “The moment the petrol is gone, Dubai is gone.”
That said, oil isn’t the highest earner for Dubai, believe it or not. Trade, tourism and real estate contribute significantly to Dubai’s overall wealth. It will be interesting to see how the income from these sources will affect how Dubai looks in the next 40 years.

Lewis Hamilton has taken to Instagram to share a workout, which may be “the best way to beat the heatwave” currently plaguing Europe, claiming “-110°C never felt so good.”
Lewis Hamilton may be F1 royalty (and supremely fit), but when there’s a heatwave in the UK, he suffers too. Unlike the rest of us though, the good sir (no, really, he’s a knight of the kingdom), has access to realms of fitness equipment the rest of us can only dream of (or perhaps have nightmares about).
Introducing: his latest health ploy. Taking to Instagram with a video featuring Nelly’s ‘Hot In Herre’ as its soundtrack, Hamilton this morning could be seen shadow boxing in what looks to be a cryo chamber, with a bandana over his forehead (perhaps to protect his hair?) and a mask over his mouth.
WATCH: Lewis Hamilton Shadow Boxes In Cold Chamber
Hamilton captioned the video: “Best way to beat the heatwave. -110°C never felt so good .” In response to the clip, some fans expressed concern about the temperature setting (“110? Please don’t freeze, we need you next race”) and others said Hamilton’s antics had put their heatwave activities to shame (“well I guess I’m not getting anything done today”).
Another remarked: “-110ºC but still looking hot try again.” This came amid other confused observations like: “I would say I wish i could trade places with you right now but honestly the frost on ur eyelashes and brows doesn’t look too pleasing…imma stay in the heat like nah thank you” and “for a sec i thought is ronaldinho.”
