3 New Reveals From The 2017 iPhone Rumour Mill
3 New Reveals From The 2017 iPhone Rumour Mill

The unstoppable conflagration of iPhone rumours continues to set the internet alight. Following our last round-up of juicy Apple gossip, new whispers suggest there are more big changes on the way for the iconic smartphone in 2017.

All-Glass Design

2017 iPhoneFirst floated by Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo in March, rumours of an all-glass design for the 2017 iPhone have been tossed around for months. They seem increasingly likely to be true. During its annual shareholder meeting, the chairman of longtime Apple supplier Catcher Technology Allen Horng indicated that glass casing is on the way for at least one iPhone model next year. The fact that a supplier is publicly commenting on the issue gives serious credence to the all-glass idea. Given the range’s pricing, many are speculating that the glass treatment will go to the iPhone 8 Plus or iPhone Pro.

Dual Curve Display

2017 iPhoneA newer tip-off suggests the iPhone 8 will feature a “Dual Curve” display. In terms you don’t have to be a Silicon Valley superstar to understand, that means the phone’s display will wrap slightly around its edges to create a larger surface area. Samsung’s stunning Galaxy Edge smartphone range sports a similar look.

32GB Base Storage

2017 iPhoneThe upcoming iPhone 7 is also getting in on the recent round of rumours. According to Kevin Wang, an IHS Technology analyst who has an impeccable track record when it comes to Apple reveals, the iPhone 7 will double its storage capacities. Wang announced that the new model will come with 32GB of entry level storage, up from the 16GB the iPhone has been stuck with for years. The new base model will reportedly be sold with a $199 USD price point.

Socceroos Talk Perseverance & Pressure For TAG Heuer
Socceroos Talk Perseverance & Pressure For TAG Heuer

Legendary Australian football team the Socceroos have a lot to live up to when it comes to delivering results.

As a whole nation’s hopes and dreams rest on the eleven man squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers, we dropped by TAG Heuer’s Don’t Crack Under Pressure Speed & Accuracy Challenge in Sydney to chat to Mark Birighitti and Trent Sainsbury about the importance timekeeping has to scoring that elusive goal.

According to the pair, timing is a concept which often swings both ways. The only constant within this is handling the pressure that comes with a win or loss.

“We were joking before,” says Socceroos goalkeeper Mark Birighitti. “Some of our best and worst results have been down to time; either lack of or too much.”

Birighitti recalls a past game that brought with it a life changing lesson. “Our first year together at Central Coast, we were leading the grand final in extra time with three minutes to go. We conceded one goal and then conceded the last goal in the last second and last header. We went on to lose the game.”

“But at the same time, split seconds can change,” adds Sainsbury.

“You have all the time in the world in the week leading up to the game, but you only have ninety minutes on the clock to win it. Timing is everything.”

Sainsbury considers himself a pretty laid back guy but even he has his high pressure moments that he has learnt to manage.

“The most pressure for me was the Asian Cup final where our challenger scored in the last minute and we went into extra time.”

“When they scored that goal and they lifted, we had to lift above them. That’s when the pressure really gets to you and it tells you if you’ve got what it takes.”

As the Socceroos goalkeeper, Birighitti also knows a thing or two about composure.

“For me as a goal keeper, it’s the penalty shootout. When you can pull up dividends for the team and become a hero for your country, it’s the nicest feeling.”

TAG Heuer’s Don’t Crack Under Pressure Speed & Accuracy Challenge was held in the heart of Sydney at Pitt street Mall. A purpose built stage allowed football fans of young and old to test their ability in front of the country’s finest.

The event also follows the recent announcement of the team’s 4th year partnership with TAG Heuer which should ensure that precision on the pitch continues to be met to the highest order.

Ryan Gosling Thinks 'Women Are Better Than Men'

Just when you thought Ryan Gosling had settled down, got married and had kids, therefore leaving his duties as your girlfriend’s hall pass, he’s back at it again with his feminist heartthrob ways declaring that he believes ‘women are better than men.’

Gosling told the Evening Standard Magazine he believes “women are better than men”, because “They are stronger. More evolved….They are better than us. They make me better.”

The Gos has never been one to shy away from the affection of women. In fact, the 35-year-old was raised primarily by his mother and older sister, and is today surrounded by women: dream wife Eva Mendes and two daughters. It’s clearly having an impact with the actor believing he is ‘49% woman’. “Sometimes 47%, it depends on what day you catch me.”

Whilst he’s been on a press tour for The Nice Guys with Russell Crowe, Gosling has also weighed in on the presidential race. “I think it needs a woman’s touch.” Well played, Gosling.

Australian Scientists Say We Are On Our Way To Becoming Cyborgs
Australian Scientists Say We Are On Our Way To Becoming Cyborgs

Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy? Well, it’s about to be with growing opportunities for artificial brain enhancement evolution experts from the University of Adelaide claiming that humans are well on their way to becoming cyborgs.

Members of the Biological Anthropology and Comparative Anatomy Research Unit at Adelaide University, Professor Maciej Henneberg and Dr Aurthur Saniotis looked at the past, present and future development of our species to chart the full scope of human evolution and found that whilst future humans are likely to combine their own organic material with technology, such enhancements must not ignore our highly complex biology.

“There is still a tendency by some to view the current form of human beings as static, and that we will stay as such into the future unless some catastrophe causes our extinction,” said Professor Henneberg.

“However, in The Dynamic Human (a book written by Henneberg and Saniotis), we present the alternative: that our world is a continuously changing complex system and humans are a part of this ever-changing system. Within this framework, human evolution is an ongoing process that shapes us now and will shape us in the future, body and mind. We must understand it in order to survive and be able to direct it to our advantage,” he says.

From cybernetic implants that could connect our brains directly to computers, to nanotechnology and a variety of medical prosthetics, The Dynamic Human outlines a wide range of mind and body enhancements that Henneberg and Saniotis believe will be potentially available to humans in the future.

“The advent of brain-machine interfaces may force humans to redefine where our humanity lies; it will blur the boundary between human and machine,” Dr Saniotis says. “This boundary in fact has been blurred for a long time. Millions of people are currently wearing technological devices aimed at enhancing our lives: from eye glasses, to hearing aids, pace makers, bionic ears, heart valves and artificial limbs.”

In fact, Saniotis points out that since 2002, about 59,000 people have received some form of neurological prosthetics, whether it be to hear or see, and this technology is set to develop rapidly in the coming years.

“…It can become easy to think of the body as a kind of machine with parts that need replacing. Of course, the body is not a machine but an evolutionary organism of enormous complexity. The human mind is not a logical machine, it is a product of organic interactions. That complexity should not be underestimated,” he says.
