The Three Ways The 2021 Formula One World Championship Will Play Out
The Three Ways The 2021 Formula One World Championship Will Play Out

The 2021 Formula One World Championship will no doubt go down as one of the most exciting and tense in F1 history.

After years of dominating the sport, Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton looks like he might finally be unseated as World Champion by Red Bull’s Max Verstappen. It would be the maiden title for the talented young Dutchman, and a record eight title for the brilliant Brit – which would officially secure him as the Greatest Of All Time and unseat Michael Schumacher’s record.

The title fight between the pair has been incredibly intense, with tensions between the two drivers and teams at breaking point. With one race left in the season – the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix this weekend – Verstappen and Hamilton are dead even on points. It couldn’t get more dramatic.

But how is it all likely to play out? We thought we’d take a look at the three most likely outcomes, and explore the nuances in each of those scenarios.

Right down to the wire

Hamilton congratulates Verstappen on qualifying P1 at the 2021 Styrian Grand Prix. Image: motorsport.com

The most likely way things will play out is that they’ll finish 1-2. Verstappen and Hamilton have collectively won all but 4 races this season (Verstappen with 9 wins and Hamilton with 8) and the pair have been 1-2 on a majority of podiums this year, too. Naturally, that would be the most dramatic finish to the season and is probably what fans want.

Lewis has won the last three races, so you’d say the form is with him. That said, Max has more overall wins this season, and won the two before that. It’s anyone’s guess who will come out on top; the pair are so evenly matched.

They both have very good wingmen in Sergio Pérez and Valterri Bottas, too, and they’ll need their teammates’ help to secure the win. Mercedes‘ Bottas is arguably the stronger driver (and indeed is third in the points) but Pérez has a knack for pulling things out of the bag when the going gets tough. Pérez will also be at Red Bull next year while Bottas is moving on to Alfa Romeo in 2022, so maybe Bottas won’t feel as willing to stick his neck out for Hamilton.

Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina Circuit is notorious for being very hard to overtake on, which will make qualifying especially important, (although, as The Times reports, the track has been subtly redesigned this year to address this). Verstappen notably bottled his fastest qualifying lap in Saudi Arabia – he can’t do that again here. If either team can lock out the first two grid places, they’ll virtually guarantee themselves the win.

Cruising for a bruising

Hamilton and Verstappen’s shocking incident during the 2021 Italian Grand Prix. Image: Sky Sports

The second way it could play out is that one or both of them get knocked out of the race – probably by each other. Verstappen was forced to retire at the British Grand Prix after colliding with Hamilton, and both drivers were forced to retire after making contact in dramatic fashion at the Italian Grand Prix (see above). Verstappen was also penalised by the FIA for contact with Hamilton at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, a racing incident that continues to generate controversy.

With tensions as high as they are and the likelihood of a fierce fight almost inevitable, there’s a very good chance the pair will make contact again in Abu Dhabi, and one or both of them might be the worse off for it. Of course, both teams would have a fit if that happened. They don’t want it to happen, either: Mercedes boss Toto Wolff has related that he doesn’t want a “messy situation” in Abu Dhabi.

What we really don’t want to happen is for either Pérez or Bottas to cause an incident, either intentionally or not. That would be a “crashgate” to rival the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix or the 1997 European Grand Prix…

What if they tie?

Hamilton sprays champagne over Verstappen after the latter won his home race at the Dutch Grand Prix. Image: Getty

The third way Abu Dhabi could pan out is if Verstappen and Hamilton somehow tied for points – which would be incredibly unlikely. The most likely way that could happen is if they finished 9th and 10th, and whoever finished 10th got the fastest lap… Or if they both finished out of the points, either due to retirement or some other incident.

In the event of a tie, FIA guidelines dictate that Verstappen be declared the winner, as he’s had more race wins than Hamilton this year (hopefully that doesn’t happen, as it would be an awful way to end such a good season). In that sense, Hamilton technically has more to race for.

RELATED: Jeremy Clarkson Takes Aim At Lewis Hamilton With ‘Anti-Woke’ Rant

That said, Hamilton probably has the psychological advantage going into Abu Dhabi. While cinching a record 8 titles would be legendary, Lewis is already a seven-time champion. If he loses to Max, it doesn’t detract from his legacy. But Max might be crushed by a loss. To come so close to the title just to miss out at the last minute… It could shatter him.

All we know is that it’s bound to be an amazing race.

The 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix will run from Friday 10th to Sunday 12th of December, with Practice 1 kicking off at 1:30pm local time on Friday.

Taking Viagra Has An Awesome Secondary Effect, Study Suggests
Taking Viagra Has An Awesome Secondary Effect, Study Suggests

Viagra is known for increasing your bedroom performance, but a new study has found it could have some other benefits, too.

Taking Viagra cuts your Alzheimer’s risk by almost 70%, a new study suggests.

The scientists claim the erection hoisting drug may also give your brain health a boost and reduce the levels of bad proteins that cause dementia.

Researchers went through data on 7.2 million US adults and found regular Viagra users had a 69% lower chance of Alzheimer’s over the next six years, publishing their findings in Nature Aging.

As Medical News Today reports, “Laboratory tests on nerve cells from people with Alzheimer’s supported the notion that sildenafil may treat the disease.”

The researchers were quick to point out, however, that only clinical trials will give definitive proof that sildenafil (the drug that increases blood flow to the penis) is an effective treatment for Alzheimer’s.

“The association between sildenafil use and decreased incidence of AD does not establish causality, which will require a randomized controlled trial,” the paper in Nature Aging reads.

According to The Sun, “Medics are planning a fresh study to test the benefits of sildenafil – the generic version of Viagra – in early Alzheimer’s patients.”

The Sun also reports that a team from Cleveland Clinic “looked at whether any of 1,600 approved drugs could be repurposed to tackle the underlying causes of the disease,” quoting lead researcher Dr. Feixiong Cheng, from Cleveland Clinic’s Genomic Medicine Institute, as saying: “Sildenafil, which has been shown to significantly improve cognition and memory in preclinical models, presented as the best drug candidate.”

Healthline reports that the study had significant limitations, and that – at present – only one drug (Aducanumab) has been approved to treat Alzheimer’s.

Healthline draws attention to a statement made by Professor Tara Spires-Jones, DPhil, deputy director of the Centre for Discovery Brain Sciences at the University of Edinburgh, who said: “This study looks at data from a very large number of people, but there are several important limitations to consider.”

“According to Spires-Jones, study data came from insurance claims, aren’t very detailed, and did not include information on other important risk factors for Alzheimer’s, like sex, risk genes, and socioeconomic status” (Healthline).

According to the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, it is estimated that in 2020 there [were] between 400,000 and 459,000 Australians with dementia, with Alzheimer’s disease accounting for up to 70% of diagnosed cases.

According to The Sun, Dr. Jack Auty, a lecturer in the medical sciences at the University of Tasmania, said of the news: “This is exciting stuff. But we need further research.”

Another university lecturer reportedly asked whether it is feasible to treat everyone with sildenafil for years before they are likely to develop Alzheimer’s disease, and wondered whether this would cause problems in and of itself.

The Most Expensive Watches Of All Time Revealed
The Most Expensive Watches Of All Time Revealed

In the 21st century, where most people just use their phone or a smartwatch to tell the time, the idea of spending thousands – if not tens of thousands – of dollars on a high-end mechanical watch seems completely absurd. But watches are more than just horological instruments: they’re pieces of art that you can wear on your wrist.

Just like art, you don’t need to spend a lot of money on a watch to get something cool or beautiful. Real watch collectors have just as much love for Casio and Seiko as they do for OMEGA and Rolex (or Patek Philippe and Vacheron Constantin) for example.

Also like art, many people buy expensive watches just to flaunt their wealth, not because of any sincere appreciation for what they’re buying – which is a shame, but such is life.

But we’re not here to philosophise about the nature of watches or art. We’re here to share what are, undeniably, the most expensive and valuable watches of all time. These are the absolute height of luxury and excess – they make Hublots and Richard Milles look like peasant’s watches in comparison.

Watch the top 5 most expensive watches ever sold at auction (as of January 2023) below.

Let’s dive a little deeper and explore why these watches are the most expensive watches in the world. What makes them so desirable and able to command such insane prices at auction? We take a closer look.

RELATED: On The Other End Of The Spectrum… Here Are The Best Men’s Watches Under $500

1948 Patek Philippe Perpetual Calendar Chronograph (ref. 1518) – US$9,570,900

Image: Sotheby’s

Spoiler alert – 4 of the top 5 on this list are Pateks. That’s perhaps not so surprising: Patek Philippe has long been one of the most desirable and exclusive watchmakers on the planet, and forms one-third of the exalted ‘Holy Trinity’ of watchmaking alongside Audemars Piguet and Vacheron Constantin.

RELATED: ‘Rocking The Boat’: New Holy Trinity Taking Watch World By Storm

Made in 1948 and formerly the property of Prince Tewfik Adil Toussoun of Egypt, this well-preserved example of the legendary ref. 1518 – the world’s first serially produced perpetual calendar chronograph – features an extremely rare and desirable pink dial and pink gold combination.

1943 Patek Philippe Stainless Steel (ref. 1518) – US$11,137,000

Image: Phillips

#4 on our list is yet another Patek Philippe ref. 1518: this time in stainless steel, and on a matching Milanese bracelet. But why is a stainless steel 1518 worth more than a pink gold one?

Generally speaking, stainless steel Pateks are highly desirable – in many cases, they’re more coveted than Pateks made from precious metals, such as gold or even platinum. It’s partly a supply issue: only around 20-30% of total Patek production is stainless steel watches, so naturally, demand far outstrips supply.

Remember this for later on in this list.

1968 Rolex Cosmograph Daytona ‘Paul Newman’ (ref. 6239) – US$17,753,000

Image: Road and Track

It’s perhaps fitting that the only non-Patek in the top 5 most expensive watches of all time is a Rolex. Rolex is easily the world’s biggest watch brand as well as perhaps the world’s most valuable brand full stop. It’s a byword for luxury, success and exclusivity… And this is the most exclusive (and famous) Rolex of all time.

RELATED: Heartwarming Moment Man Discovers Staggering Value Of Late Father’s Rolex Submariner

‘Paul Newman’ Daytonas, named after the American actor, race car driver and salad dressing mogul who popularised the watch, are unbelievably popular, but this one takes the cake: it’s one of only a few actually owned by Paul Newman, and the only only “exotic”-dialled one (i.e. the only ‘Paul Newman’ Paul Newman Rolex).

It’s even got an engraving on the back that reads “DRIVE SAFELY – ME”. Talk about a Holy Grail…

1932 Patek Philippe Henry Graves Supercomplication (piece unique) – US$23,983,000

Image: Sotheby’s

Back to your regularly scheduled Patek programming. This is the only pocket watch on the list, and it’s an absolute behemoth of a pocket watch, too.

Made especially for Henry Graves Jr., a prominent American banker, this was for a very long time the most complicated watch in the world. It boasts a whopping 24 different functions, including Westminster chimes, a perpetual calendar, sunrise and sunset times, plus a celestial map of New York as seen from Graves’ old apartment at 834 Fifth Avenue.

Graves spent CHF 60,000 (US$15,000) when he commissioned the Supercomplication back in 1925. Adjusting for inflation, that’s roughly equivalent to $229,533 in 2021. A bargain, all things considered.

2019 Patek Philippe Grandmaster Chime ‘Only One’ (ref. 6300A-010) – US$31,000,000

Image: Hodinkee

And now for #1: the most expensive watch in the world. The Grandmaster Chime ref. 6300 is the most complicated watch Patek currently makes, with 20 complications including 5 chiming modes. This is the only one in stainless steel (hence the name, the ‘Only One’, which even features on the dial) – but it’s not just the case material and dial that makes this timepiece special.

RELATED: Drake Shamelessly Flaunts ‘Priceless’ Virgil Abloh Designed Patek Philippe Watch

The ‘Only One’ was created specifically for Only Watch: a biennial charity watch auction that supports research into Duchenne muscular dystrophy. The world’s top watchmakers create exotic, special, typically one-off watches for the auction in order to raise the most money for charity, and this was Patek’s 2019 entry.

$31 million on a watch is excessive, but when you consider that the bulk of that went to charity, it makes it a little easier to justify. We guess.

What is the most expensive watch ever?

The Patek Philippe Grandmaster Chime ‘Only One’ (ref. 6300A-010), which sold for US$31,000,000 at auction in 2019.

What is the most expensive Rolex watch ever?

A 1968 Rolex Cosmograph Daytona ‘Paul Newman’ (ref. 6239) that was actually owned by Paul Newman, which sold for US$17,753,000 in 2017.

Why are watches so expensive?

High-end watches are expensive for a number of reasons: they're often made of precious metals, they are extremely limited in number, and are mechanically very complex. Even a relatively mass-produced watch like an OMEGA or Rolex takes hundreds of hours to produce. The level of finishing, quality and detail in a luxury watch is also very labour-intensive. On top of that, high-end watches are also considered investments and are traded as such.

How much should I spend on a watch?

It all depends on what you want a watch for. If you just want something that'll tell the time and last for a long time, a Casio digital quartz watch won't cost much more than $30. If you want a decent mechanical watch, a Seiko 5 will set you back around $170. For something a little fancier, an entry-level Swiss watch like a Hamilton or Tissot is more like $500. The cheapest Rolexes sell for around $5000.

Conor McGregor Is Ready To Eat The Entire UFC Roster For Breakfast
Conor McGregor Is Ready To Eat The Entire UFC Roster For Breakfast

Love him or hate him, nobody can truly deny the commitment Irish MMA fighter Conor McGregor has for his craft, and his latest body transformation proves he’s more committed than ever.

Always one to run his mouth and have an all-around ‘f**k it’ attitude, McGregor is someone who will do anything it takes to succeed. His recent run of form hasn’t perhaps been his best, however, losing twice via technical knockout against Dustin Poirier in 2021. During their most recent match on 10 July at UFC 264, Conor suffered a broken tibia, putting him out of action for some time.

But, as we said, Conor is a man who never throws in the towel and, in recent months, has given us all a glimpse into the amount of effort he’s putting into training so he can get back into the octagon. He’s not only confidently exclaimed he’ll “be back!” but has also proven there’s never an excuse to not work out.

And that training appears to be paying off, as some images he posted to his Instagram a few days ago shows him looking bigger than ever. Just a month ago in November, Conor posted an image of himself, still looking great, but definitely a lot leaner than his new December rig. But just what is his secret to his transformation?

DMARGE spoke to Scott Reynolds, Fitness Director and Co-Founder of Combine Air, to find out.

Scott admits “his transformation since July has been impressive, to say the least,” and adds, “his training has been limited while recovering from his injury.”

“His training since his injury would be a combination of strength training and healthy bulk eating. His only conditioning/fitness work would be on the bike at a lower intensity, therefore not generating too much calorie burn and holding more energy, which leads to the weight increase.”

It’s often been believed that cardio and strength training simply cannot co-exist. However, there are now some weighted arguments to suggest that isn’t necessarily the case, and so those who commit to strength training can actually benefit from some cardio work.

Naturally, some people will look up to Conor McGregor as a source of fitness inspiration, and will now be hoping they too can make similar progress if their goal is to put on muscle and ‘bulk-up’. But just how realistic is it they can achieve similar results in a similar timeframe?

Left: Conor McGregor in an image posted to his Instagram on November the 2nd. Right: Conor McGregor in an image posted to his Instagram on December the 3rd.

Scott says, “Conor has a lot more time on his hands than most of us. His motivation to get back in the octagon is at an all-time high, his personal team and chef would ensure meals are being consumed at the right time and quantities.”

“The Average Joe would need to ensure they have a well thought out and programmed game plan. To put on a similar amount of size in that time frame you would need strength training daily and a well-designed nutrition program.”

Essentially, hire yourself a personal trainer and a personal chef. Easy.

To help you on your way, Scott provides a few example workouts and exercises you can include in your workout routines to help put on some upper body muscle.

“Looking at Conor’s Instagram he has used EMS in his training,” Scott relates. EMS refers to Electrical Muscle Stimulation, which uses a wireless device to stimulate muscle fibres whilst you’re working out, causing the muscle tissue to work harder and more effectively. “This will assist, stimulate and re-engage the muscles post-surgery in his legs,” Scott says.

“His lower body has been impacted the most and is very noticeable with his muscle loss. Conor will only now just start to introduce light leg press, extension and curls, sled pushes, squats and deadlifts.”

“He has clearly focused on upper body strength. Movements like seated cable rows, bench press, military press and lat pulldowns. His weights would be heavy with rep ranges around 8-12 and sets of 4-5.”

Injury can occur for any of us at any time, and if you’re someone who’s either an athlete or just enjoys going to the gym several times a week, an injury is obviously going to set you back. So, what do you do? Do you accept defeat until you recover, or can you continue training to some degree?

Scott says you should “find things that you can do that don’t impact your rehabilitation program. You’ll always be able to adapt to your training.”

“It’s better physically and mentally to continue training rather than waiting for the specific injury to heal. Simulated Altitude Training is an incredibly effective training method for anybody to use while carrying an injury. The atmosphere will help burn more calories than anywhere at sea level, they will also burn more for longer after every session.”

“The altitude also helps our bodies release more growth hormones, this means it’s easier to build lean muscle and develop strength.”

We can’t imagine it’ll be too long before we see Conor fighting in the octagon ring once again.

Chris Hemsworth Workout: Get Chris Hemsworth’s Thor-Like Body
Chris Hemsworth Workout: Get Chris Hemsworth’s Thor-Like Body

Looking to get huge like Chris Hemsworth? Then you need to be performing the approved Chris Hemsworth workouts and follow a similar diet to the Australian actor himself.

Chris regularly posts his workout and dietary advice to his Instagram page, with the help of his trusted personal training sidekick, Luke Zocchi.

Together, the duo makes working out a fun and enjoyable experience. But with so many workouts and training techniques to take on board, finding the best advice can be a minefield. We’ve therefore compiled a truckload of Chris Hemsworth workout content into one landing page, making it the definitive guide to getting ripped like Thor – and in case just the idea of working out like Chris puts you off fitness for life, take some solace from reading Erik’s story of trying his routines for 30 days, with genuinely positive results.

Chris Hemsworth Leg Workout

Contrary to what your gym may indicate, nobody really wants chopsticks for legs. Yes, it’s great to have a bulky chest and bulging biceps, but as the adage goes, “never skip leg day”. Fortunately, our man Chris Hemsworth is a firm believer in that saying, and he has the perfect leg workout to ensure you can get yourself some serious tree trunks.

We like to call it the lawnmower workout, but what it actually refers to, is sled pushes. Step into any gym and you’ll likely see a laid out track specifically for such an exercise and it makes a great alternative to squats and leg presses.

All you need to do is grab a sled, load on some weight (if the sled without weight is too light) and push it down the other end of the track. Repeat this until failure (when you physically can’t push it any further) and once you have it nailed down, you can start experimenting with adding heavier weights.

This gem of a leg workout will torch your glutes and calves (along with your core) and because there’s an end goal in sight (the end of the track) psychologically it becomes easier to perform.

With sled pushes out of the way, you can move on to side gorilla lunges. This exercise comes from Chris’s trainer Luke Zocchi (who even admits this is a tough one) but perform it a few times and you’ll start seeing results of gorilla-like proportions.

Chris Hemsworth Ab Workout

If you ‘forget’ to go to the gym a few weeks in a row, you may soon notice what’s now known as a ‘dad bod’ forming when you look down. Not quite ripped, but not completely overweight, a dad bod isn’t necessarily something to be ashamed of, but we imagine you’ll want to get it to retreat quicker than it formed and replace it with a serious set of abs.

Chris’s personal trainer Luke has the perfect solution with a bodyweight workout circuit. As he says with regards to just using your body’s weight to train, “learning how to move correctly and get stronger with bodyweight is a much smarter way to start than by adding load (weights) and increasing injury. Master your body first then add load.”

Blast that bod and reveal those abs by performing these moves in quick succession:

  • Forward jumps
  • Reverse crawl
  • Alternating lunges whilst moving forward
  • Reverse crawl
  • Squat with alternating twists
  • Reverse crawl
  • Forward crawl with alternating twists
  • Reverse crawl
  • Forward frog jumps
  • Reverse crawl

For a truly core killing ab buster, Luke has also put together a 50 rep challenge, comprising five different exercises to be completed 10 times each. We’re sweating just watching it, but after giving it a go a few times, you’ll start seeing some ab definition.

Chris Hemsworth Arm & Bicep Workout

Who doesn’t want to fill out their shirt sleeves with a set of serious guns? We certainly do. Chris’s arms are the envy of guys everywhere, and we’re sorry to say that getting an equally sleeve-ripping set won’t happen overnight.

What you can do is follow Chris and Luke’s six-step guide, taken from their Centr program. The boys say all you need is a set of dumbbells or your own body weight, with which you complete six exercises, for six reps each, for a total of six rounds, across a six-week block.

Here are some exercises that will ultimately work your entire body, but pay particular attention to your arms.

Push Up Sit Throughs

Starting in a push-up position, complete one full push up. Then put one foot out wide to the side, and bring your trailing leg through, underneath your body, before extending it out across your body, so it’s in line with the first foot you placed down.

Dumbbell Curl With Lunges

Holding a set of dumbbells, curl them up, working your biceps and at the same time, lunge forward. You can alternate this move by doing hammer curls instead of bicep curls, which will eventually give you a fuller-looking set of arms.

Plank With Leg Lift

The plank is one of the best exercises you can do to work your core, but to turn things up a notch, you can do as Chris does, and lift a leg off the floor. Not only does this pile extra effort on your core, but you can bend down on your arms a tad – a pushup of sorts – to bring your triceps into the mix. Alternate with each leg.

Sit Throughs

Sit throughs are a perfect move to work not only your triceps but your core as well. Start in a bear crawl positions, whereby you’re on your hands and resting on your toes, with your knees slightly elevated from the ground. Leave one hand on the floor along with the opposite foot (right hand and left foot for example) and move the other foot under your body and across to the opposite side, while rotating your body at the same time in the same direction.

Tyre Pushes

Ok, so this one might be a little harder to do on the account you’ll need a very large tyre, such as one from a tractor. But if you can lay your hands on one, it can be your ideal workout companion. You can carry out this move on your own or with a partner. If by yourself, lift the tyre up from flat and push it over. Flip it five more times, or until failure. If you’re with a friend, have the tyre upright, and push it to each other.

Other ways to get yourself some bulging biceps include combining weighted pull-ups with landmine rows and dumbbell hammer curls. We’d recommend starting low with the weights if you’re new to some of the exercises Luke mentions. After all, quality is better than quantity.

Luke is also the go-to man if you really want to challenge yourself to see where your fitness is at. Take this simple-to-follow but we imagine not-so-easy-to-carry-out dumbbell workout, for example. Three exercises, six reps each arm, 20 minutes. Simple.

Those arm workouts still not giving you the biceps you crave, or you’re finding them too easy (or too hard), how about you try another of Luke’s workouts that will destroy your arms to the point you can’t even lift them* *disclaimer: not necessarily true.

Using a weighted medicine ball, Luke adds some extra complexity to bodyweight workouts, however he says it’s only worth pursuing strength and power once you feel at a comfortable level. You want to make sure you can nail technique and form during bodyweight workouts first.

As ever, Luke throws a few exercises into the mix to keep your muscles guessing, which will eventually result in greater strength. He slams the ball on the ground for a random number of times before placing the ball further away and jumping over to meet it. Complete for 3-5 sets and give yourself 1-2 minutes rest in between each.

Chris Hemsworth Chest Workout

No workout routine would be complete without the ubiquitous chest day. Chris’s pecs are like glistening, firm pillows we’d happily lay our heads on, and naturally, we’d like a rival set of our own. Some of the Aussie actor’s best chest-related exercises can be found in the routines he had to put his body through in preparation for the Netflix-produced movie Extraction.

We thought nothing could ever phase our Chris, but judging by the videos from this routine, that may not be the case. Just listen to the sound he makes when he side-kicks the boxing bag at the end…

A post shared by Chris Hemsworth (@chrishemsworth) on

And judging by the variety of attacks he has in his repertoire (and Instagram feed), the Australian icon was likely eyeing up a “strong man” character for some time.

In video one, he starts with a variation of the classic plank, incorporating prone sidekicks to work out the lateral core (because a basic plank is like a walk in the park for Chris), then moves on to yanking a heavy boxing bag across the entire room towards him.

But it’s his “pec busting” push-ups, carried out on alternate sides of the bag (with one hand on top of the bag each time), that will really torch your chest.

To promote muscle growth even further, you can (attempt to) keep following Chris’s routine by doing a classic battle rope workout (ideally without taking a break between exercises), and finish off with a quick kick-boxing session (and a particularly lethal kick to round it off).

Luke also has some serious upper body workouts of his own, such as this routine which combines seven exercises together. You ideally want to complete it in full five times…with just a minute of rest in between each of those sets.

Chris Hemsworth Back Workout

Continuing with the Extraction workout routine, Chris moves on from busting his pecs to working on his back muscles instead. This second video shows off his boxing prowess (and his ability to handle a rogue roo). But honestly, in terms of developing your back muscles, we would highly recommend the following workout, which has kept Hemsworth’s shoulders broad and his stomach toned, pretty much his whole life.

Chris Hemsworth Full Body Workout

If you want a workout that will work all muscle groups (but will likely have you deflated after) then you need to be performing some full body workouts. As a starter, try this cycle, push-up, ab rollout circuit. We dare you.

Chris’ trainer Luke has also provided us with this gym-floor destroying workout, which as we’ve implied, could literally destroy your gym floor, it’s that fierce. Naturally, expect it to destroy your body too in the process. Medicine ball slams are a great exercise to perform, as they work multiple areas of the body, including your abs, hips, thighs, calves, shoulders, back, and arm muscles. On top of that, they help to develop your core strength, as well as the amount of power you can deliver from throwing the ball to the ground.

The Forgotten Techniques

Of course, you can easily learn the correct technique and form to conquer your Hemsworth-inspired workouts, but Chris himself has revealed the one technique you really do need to get right if you’re going to have successful workouts: have fun.

Before you berate us for turning something into nothing: hear us out. Multiple studies (and Hugh Jackman) have shown that mucking around, keeping your workout interesting and going to the gym with friends can increase both your progress and your likelihood of maintaining those hard-sweated gains.

As we should all know, building muscle is predominantly a result of what you do in the kitchen, not the gym. As such, you need to make sure you’re eating the right foods and enough of them. Chris Hemsworth follows a strict high-calorie meal plan.

Chris consumes around 4,500 calories per day, far higher than the recommended daily intake for men to maintain their current body weight. His meal plans can change regularly, but they all promise to provide him with as many calories as possible. An example of a three-day meal plan can be found on Centr and it goes a little something like this:

Day 1

8am – Green power shake with protein
10am – Bowl of yogurt with mixed fresh berries, chia seeds, almonds and honey
12pm – Workout
1pm – Post-workout shake consisting of vegetable protein, ice water, BCAAs and 1g of vitamin C
2:30pm – 8 oz grilled chicken with crispy sweet potatoes and a rocket salad with seeds, nuts and salted apple. Lemon and olive oil dressing on the side
5:30pm – 2 rice cakes with Vegemite, tuna and cherry tomatoes
7pm – 8 oz white fish with grilled mushrooms and a raw broccoli salad
9pm – Half of a small paw paw/papaya with yogurt and berries. Magnesium/zinc supplement

Day 2

8am – Green power shake with protein
10am – 3 fried eggs on a slice of wholegrain toast with Vegemite and avocado
12pm – Workout
1pm – Post-workout shake consisting of vegetable protein, ice water, BCAAs and 1g of vitamin C
2:30pm – 8 oz eye fillet (fillet mignon), grilled pumpkin salad with spinach, herbs, cucumber and ½ cup of steamed rice
5:30pm – Chicken and vegetable soup with barley
7pm – 8 oz white fish, leafy green salad with radicchio and balsamic dressing. A side of roasted mixed cruciferous vegetables
9pm – BCAAs with Magnesium/zinc supplement

Day 3

8am – Raw cacao and frozen berry shake with coconut oil, chia seeds, dates and vegetable protein
10am – Savory porridge with olive oil, parmesan and two poached eggs
12pm – Workout
1pm – Post-workout shake
2pm – Sesame chicken salad with leafy greens, sprouts, pickles and ½ cup steamed rice
5pm – A homemade frozen green bar
7pm – 8 oz grilled mahi mahi, grilled asparagus, roasted tomato and a non-dairy Caesar salad
9pm – BCAAs with magnesium/zinc supplement

While a calorie surplus diet is your best bet to put on weight and muscle – especially if you’re an ectomorph – you should always consult with a nutrition professional to determine the best meal plan for you.

Former Hotel Worker Reveals Why You Should Avoid Buffet Breakfasts
Former Hotel Worker Reveals Why You Should Avoid Buffet Breakfasts

A video confession from a former hotel worker has left us reconsidering our need to stuff ourselves silly every time we happen upon a hotel breakfast buffet.

The confession comes from Knoxville resident and TikTok user Brandi Augustus, who advised followers: “If your hotel serves like a hot continental breakfast or whatever, eggs, waffles, stuff like that, yeah don’t eat that sh*t.”

Brandi said she had worked at numerous brands of hotels doing front desk and night audit for almost 15 years, sharing: “What I have come to realise is they [corporate] don’t give a shit about that breakfast.”

“There was one hotel I was trained at, the night auditor who was training me he used – this is what spawned this whole thing – I was cleaning up and I had a paper towel and I remember when that man told me to use one paper towel to clean everything all night… disgusting.”

“He said it was environmentally friendly instead of using a rag or a sponge or even multiple paper towels to clean things like bowls, spatulas, the tables. I was like: ‘how is that even possible? I can barely keep one paper towel together just to wipe some stuff off or whatever,’ and he was like: ‘well you’re just being too aggressive.'”

Brandi’s advice to those staying in less expensive hotels is to choose food that is made to order: “I would say if you were to do a hotel breakfast; do a double tray. Do something that has a chef that makes your breakfast. There are some higher-end hotels but we ain’t talking about them.”

“I’m just trying to save y’all a headache.”

Brandi also said to check the waffle station: “See if the waffle maker is even clean – often times it’s not.”

Worse, Brandi added: “That waffle batter doesn’t get made every day – that waffle batter gets re-used until it starts to smell like beer.”

Other TikTok users shared their own horror stories (and suspicions) in the comments.

TikTok user @lilblumamba wrote: “As a night auditor for a very popular hotel, she telling the truth!! Stick to the pre packaged foods, also check the room before you bring the luggage in” (to which Brandi responded: “This!! Check the beds, baseboards and headboards for critters or evidence of them.”

Another commenter said they only ever ate the bacon, and asked why it tasted like plastic (to which other users said “bc they buy the cheapest brand”).

Another user claimed that in some hotels the scrambled eggs come in a plastic bag.

Some questions remained unanswered, with one concerned TikTok user writing in all caps: “WHAT ABOUT THE BAGELS???”

Some users, however, appeared unbothered. One wrote: “Girl it’s free bye.” Another quipped: “It builds up the immune system.”

Another complained: “TikTok keeps ruining things for me.”

So, are we being neurotic, or is this useful advice?

Judging by the video’s view count, the internet thinks it’s useful. The clip has more than 1.5 million views on TikTok, according to the New York Post. It also has 221k likes, 5979 comments and 13.5k shares, at the time of writing.

‘Porsche Have Created The Most Selfish Car You’ll Ever Drive’
‘Porsche Have Created The Most Selfish Car You’ll Ever Drive’

Porsche has made some pretty intense cars over the years, from the mind-melting 918 Spyder hypercar to the Taycan Turbo S electric car that’s currently taking the world by storm. These days, they also make some more comfortable, refined rides, like the Cayenne or Panamera.

There’s nothing wrong with a bit of luxury, but sometimes you just want a car that’s 100% for you and you only. Thankfully, Porsche has got you covered there, too, with the 911 GT3. The high-performance, track-oriented variant of Porsche’s famous sports car has always been a true driver’s car – a mental piece of German automotive perfection – but the new, 992-generation 911 GT3 takes things to the next level.

We got the chance to take the new 911 GT3 around Sydney Motorsport Park last week, and we were very impressed. Quite simply, it’s the most selfish car you’ll ever drive. And that’s a huge compliment.

Watch our 60-second review of the new Porsche 911 GT3 below.

Here are some quick stats. The 992-gen GT3 has the same awesome 4.0L naturally aspirated flat-six engine as the previous-gen 991 GT3, but bumps the power and torque up to 375kW and 470Nm respectively. It’s also much faster from 0-100km/h: 2.8 seconds. That’ll rattle your fillings out.

Other big improvements over the previous generation include a double-wishbone front suspension system more or less completely lifted out of the 911 RSR endurance car (the first time such a suspension has been used on a Porsche road car) as well as a manually adjustable goose- or swan-neck spoiler that provides much more downforce than previous models.

But you don’t need to know all that to figure out that the 992 GT3 means business. Just look at the thing: that awesome intake design at the front of the car, the aforementioned tech-y spoiler at the rear, carbon fibre everywhere…

Step inside and you’ll find there’s no rear seat, an integrated roll cage, body-hugging bucket seats and racing harnesses. A Bathurst-style sequential shifter (if you want the PDK and not a manual box) and steering wheel wrapped in Alcantara are other tell-tale touches you’re not in any old 911.

We reckon this might be the best-looking GT3 yet. The Shark Blue looks particularly good, too. Photo: Camber

Put your foot down, and you’ll find it to be a totally terrifying ride, in the best way possible. It’ll scream to 9,000 rpm without breaking a sweat. Naturally, it’s fast, but it’s also unbelievably nimble. Out of corners, it’s forgiving and really gets the power down quickly. Sticky and purposeful, it’s like an apex predator (with the ‘Shark Blue’ of the car I drove really reinforcing that characterisation). I found myself gripping on for dear life at speed. I definitely felt like prey, despite being behind the wheel.

That said, you’re very much in control of the beast. It’s no mere brute: there are so many tools at the driver’s disposal. From its active chassis management to rear-axle steering below 50km/h, its unique Track Screen feature or its handy auto-blip function for super-precise downshifting… The new 911 GT3 just keeps on giving.

Yes, this car might be great to look at, but that’s really not the point of the new 911 GT3. It’s meant to be a track car that you can drive day-to-day; a pure, wild 911 that’s all for you and your passenger. Although truth be told, you probably don’t want a passenger in the car. This is a treat for you to enjoy. That’s what we mean by selfish.

The fire extinguisher might need to be used on yourself. We were tempted after taking it around Eastern Creek… Photo: Camber

Other than it scaring me stiff, there’s not much to fault here with the GT3. Porsche has stripped much of the sound insulation out of the car, so it’s actually quite noisy – not the worst thing, as that flat-six sounds great. The six-point harness would be pretty annoying to use day-to-day, and the lack of a rear seat (or any real boot space) means it’s not the best thing to do the grocery run in. But why would you anyway? That’s not what this car is for. Not really.

The biggest issue you’ll find with one is that there’s now quite a long wait time to get one in Australia as they’ve been selling like hotcakes.

‘Most British Sex Complaint Ever’ Ignites Debate
‘Most British Sex Complaint Ever’ Ignites Debate

James Bond. The Queen. Tea. Scones. Pride and Prejudice. Harry Potter. Crisps.

Some things are just quintessentially British.

Sex though? Not so much. Sex belongs to Paris and Hollywood, right?

Anyway, sometimes, it appears, the British do get down and ‘to it,’ as a bafflingly British complaint, submitted to The Times’ “sex counsel” column, shows.

Though The Times published it in 2019, the question (and The Times’ expert’s answer) is currently popping off on Twitter, after being shared yesterday by No Context Brits, which is an account that calls itself a “mordant celebration of British mediocrity.”

The complaint reads thusly:

“Every day I take my wife a cup of tea in bed. She loves this ritual and I like performing it. However, we sometimes make love in the mornings (after I’ve brought the tea) and she pauses to finish her cup before it goes cold. For me, it kills the moment. I’m sure our love life would be more passionate if she didn’t take this short tea break.”

Suzi Godson, The Times’ columnist, wrote in response: “Your letter is more likely to provoke envy than sympathy, but small gestures have an impact in romantic relationships. Bringing your wife a cup of tea reminds her that she is loved and cared for, and her appreciation makes you feel valued too. Because you attend to your wife, she attends to you. That’s how good relationships work.”

So far so good.

Then things get interesting. Godson added: “Reciprocity becomes a virtuous circle and from time to time your cup runneth over and your morning tea ceremony clearly stirs a sexual awakening too. When those occasions arise you feel that your wife should forgo her cuppa and seize the moment. However, I don’t think you understand how integral it is to the romantic dynamic. There is something rather erotic about the idea of sipping hot tea while your lover waits, eagerly. Far from being a passion killer, the time it takes for her to drink her tea should add to the erotic charge.”

The response goes on to kindly advise the man to slow down and enjoy the process.

On Twitter, there were a variety of responses to the story. Some thought the man was being completely unreasonable (“tea is tea”) while others thought he had a fair point.

One man wrote: “Sometimes I even fake my orgasms with my wife just so I can make myself a cuppa.”

Another Twitter user wrote: “Blimey, it couldn’t have been very hot if it’s cold before he finishes.”

Another said: “This man is a hater and she doesn’t need him in her life.”

Further suggestions included using a flask, or putting a bit of cold water in the tea so that “she can finish it in one go.”

The best comment, however, arguably, was as follows: “Nothing quite says good ol’ British romance than a lady drinking lukewarm tea with her loyal fella trying to keep his PG tip hard beside her.”

We can’t argue with that.

Jonah Hill Says F**k Tuxes, Rocks Up To World Premiere In Fabulous Gucci Fit
Jonah Hill Says F**k Tuxes, Rocks Up To World Premiere In Fabulous Gucci Fit

Movie premieres are supposed to be stylish, but many male celebrities really phone it in when it comes to fashion. Sure, there’s nothing wrong with a tuxedo, but it’s a bit safe. Thankfully, Jonah Hill has a bit more sartorial nous than the average Hollywood celebrity.

The 37-year-old funnyman and actor rocked up to the world premiere of Don’t Look Up, the raucous political satire he’s starring in alongside Leonardo DiCaprio, Kid Cudi and Timothée Chalamet (as well as some other big names) in an awesome aqua Gucci suit that he wore sans shirt and with some sparkly mules. A breezy yet classy look, Hill actually enlisted the help of high-end celebrity stylist and perfumer Ezra Woods to help pull it together.

Even cooler was the fact that his partner, surfer and activist Sarah Brady, twinned with him for the night – talk about couple goals! Brady and Hill definitely stood out amongst the pack (here’s looking at you, DiCaprio, and your boring suit).

Hill has quickly become one of the most fashion-forward male celebrities on the planet right now, working with big-name brands like PalaceMarni and Adidas on campaigns, collaborations and exclusive collections respectively.

In recent years, he’s discovered a love of surfing, and that’s definitely informed his style evolution: lots of pastels, bright colours and relaxed looks.

Hill is currently in the process of filming asn as-of-yet unnamed Kenya Barris-directed comedy, which he also co-wrote alongside the black-ish creator. Big-name stars reportedly set to appear in the film include Eddie Murphy, David Duchovny and Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
