Your cart is currently empty.
Turns out the stereotype could be true: researchers in Britain claim to have established that there is indeed a link between how confident you are in your manhood and your desire to own an expensive sports car.
A study produced by the Department of Experimental Psychology at University College London aptly titled Small Penises and Fast Cars: Evidence for a Psychological Link seems to prove once and for all that the smaller your dick is (or the smaller you think your dick is, more accurately), the more likely you are to want to overcompensate with a sports car.
“The link between driving a fast sports car and having a small penis is a widespread cultural trope,
discussed by academics from Freudian analysts to evolutionary theorists. For the first time, we show
that it is grounded in a psychological truth,” the introduction to the study relates.
The study, which surveyed 200 men aged between 18 and 74, was exceptionally devious. They shared a stat around average penis size, and then asked respondents to rate how desirable they found a sports car, among other luxury and non-luxury products. They told some men that the average penis size was 18cm (significantly bigger than average) and some that it was 10cm (significantly smaller than average).

The result? The men who’d been told that the average penis size was bigger than it actually is – that is, the men who were made to feel inadequate – consistently rated sports cars as more desirable than the men who were given the stat that made them feel more confident about their penis size.
Interestingly, it was only sports cars where there was a significant boost in interest: feeling adequate or inadequate had no effect on how men considered the desirability of other goods that were presented as part of the survey.
“Perhaps there is just something specific linking cars and penises in the male psyche… [But] the luxury
automotive industry may be unwilling to acknowledge this link,” the study concludes. Very droll.
For the record, I’m very comfortable driving my Ford Fiesta, thank you very much.

After a woman was kicked off a Jetstar flight for being disorderly, some social media users are calling for Aussie airports to stop selling beer.
Passengers recently celebrated a Lennox Heads woman getting kicked off a Jetstar flight bound for Melbourne (from the Gold Coast) for allegedly being drunk and disorderly. Some even sang an impromptu rendition of Steam’s 1969 hit “Na Na Hey Hey (Kiss Him Goodbye)“ as police removed her from the plane.
The woman has been hit with a disorderly conduct charge and footage from the dregs of the Internet shows her getting escorted off the flight by five cops.
WATCH: passengers sing as five police escort woman off Jetstar flight
She has been subject to many online comedians calling her a drunk Karen and one passenger in the video says “come on, mum, get off.”
Jetstar said of the incident: “We requested the assistance of the Australian Federal Police after a passenger became increasingly disruptive prior to departure and refused to follow crew instructions.”
“The safety of our customers and crew is our number one priority and we have zero tolerance for disruptive behaviour.”
If convicted with the charge of acting “in an offensive or disorderly manner on an aircraft” the 42-year-old could get stung with a maximum fine of $13,750.
On one TikTok video of the incident, the clip sparked some social media users to call for beer to be banned from airports. One user, William Hayes, wrote: “simply don’t sell beer at airport.”

Others pointed out the difference in how Australians react to disorderly passengers compared to Americans.
One wrote: “In USA same thing they threaten to sue and get annoyed in Australia we laugh and sing … Aussie Aussie Aussie oi oi oi.”
Yet another said: “The song made me proud to b Aussie.”
Further TikTok users were not to be outdone, weighing in with remarks like: “This is so Aussie hahahahahahahahaha the song at the end” and “Just another day with Jetstar.”

Skeletonised watches never fail to capture the imagination – but not all are made equal (or rather, some are more tastefully executed than others). Zenith’s latest skeletonised creation, however, ticks all the boxes.
Zenith only released the Defy Skyline last year, and it’s already proven to be one of the brand’s biggest hits. A bold new take on the integrated luxury sports watch, its most unique feature is its 1/10th of a second indicator at 9 o’clock – a superficially useless yet fun complication that cleverly hints at the El Primero movement that powers the watch.
The Defy Skyline is a good-looking watch, but that 1/10th of a second indicator always bugged me a bit. Yes, it’s clever that it’s where one of the subdials would be on an El Primero chronograph, but it always made the watch feel a bit too asymmetrical; a bit too unbalanced.
The new Defy Skyline Skeleton, launched at LVMH Watch Week 2023, solves that ‘problem’. It also happens to be one of the best executions of skeletonisation on the market.
WATCH a close-up of the new Defy Skyline Skeleton below, with a standard Defy Skyline for comparison.
First things first. Where before its El Primero movement – that high-beat movement that Zenith is so famous for – was merely hinted at, it’s now on full display. The Defy Skyline Skeleton’s El Primero 3620 SK movement is perfectly aesthetically balanced, giving just enough away so you don’t have that weird sensation of looking through the watch (and just seeing wrist hair, eurgh).
RELATED: The Best Chronograph Watches To Stop The Clock For
That contentious yet unique 1/10th of a second indicator has now been moved to 6 o’clock, and Zenith has done away with a date wheel. Additionally, keen-eyed observers will also notice that the Defy Skyline Skeleton’s baseplate has now been changed to a four-pointed design, as opposed to the five-pointed design of the Defy Classic.
These changes make the Defy Skyline Skeleton more symmetrical than its non-skeletonised siblings and far easier on the eye, in my opinion. The four-pointed design might not match the five-pointed Zenith star logo but I like how substantial it looks.
Like its non-skeletonised brethren, it comes mounted on an integrated stainless steel bracelet. However, a colour-matched rubber strap comes with the watch as standard – and it’s a cinch swapping out one for the other thanks to Zenith’s easy-to-use quick-change system.

A 60-hour power reserve, screw-down crown and 100m of water resistance help make it more practical than the vast majority of skeletonised watches. It’s available in either black or blue, although I reckon the blue (which is a signature colour for Zenith) is the pick of the two.
I’ve never been a huge fan of skeletonised watches – I think they’re often a bit too busy or blingy – but I’m a big fan of the Defy Skyline Skeleton. It’s undeniably eye-catching and sporty, but it’s also strangely understated. You could even wear it as a dress watch. Zenith has struck the perfect balance between visual drama and versatility. It’s damn tasteful, is what it is.
In short, I think it’s easily one of the best releases from LVMH Watch Week 2023 and a watch that really ought to be front of mind for any serious watch shopper this year. Find out more about the Zenith Defy Skyline Skeleton here.

Great White Sharks are apex predators. Which is why the world’s first aerial footage of killer whales hunting them has left the Internet shook. In light of this revelation, scientists are theorising killer whales may be passing the learned hunting behaviour on “culturally.”
A video filmed as part of a study in South Africa, in which biology boffins directly observed killer whales preying on white sharks and saw “evidence of a flight response” has netizens peeling out their eyeballs and setting fire to their retinas.
Either that or it has their heart strings swelling like an orchestra, sympathising for the plight of the mighty great whites featured in this unprecedented aerial footage.
WATCH: killer whales hunt great white sharks in world first aerial footage
On commenter on social media, having seen the footage, which started to go viral (again) this morning, wrote: “There’s always a bigger fish.” Another asked: “But why don’t the sharks just swim way down and stay there? Orcas can only hold their breath for like 10 minutes.”
Yet another chimed in with: “The hunt was probably well ‘orca’ strated.”
The scientific paper explains that the story began on on 16 May 2022 when, “between 14:00 and 15:00 PM, D. Archer of Mossel Bay Helicopters flew a series of short tourist flights over the same area of Hartenbos (34°07′ S, 22°07′ E).”
“While there the pilot witnessed two white sharks being killed by killer whales…neither was fully captured on film. However, using a Samsung S21 cell phone, the pilot captured a series of images and short video clips, which partially captured the interactions between four of the previously described killer whales and several white sharks.”
“Given the overlap in time and area, we assumed it was the same group captured by the drone footage,” the scientific paper explained, adding: “Two video sequences at 14:07 and 14:27 PM showed two different killer whales (Starboard in the first clip) closely following large white sharks at <1 killer whale body length. In both clips, the sharks displayed evasive behaviours, circling back tightly with the whale following, but both moving slowly.”
“In the later clip, a second killer whale is seen directly approaching the first killer whale and white shark to within five body lengths before visuals are lost.”
“A series of three images over 4 s showed what appears to be the consumption of a free-floating shark liver. The liver is roughly the size of the killer whale’s head and appears at the surface before being taken into the killer whale’s mouth.”
RELATED: Drone Captures Great White Shark At Popular New South Wales Holiday Spot
“This behaviour has never been witnessed in detail before, and certainly never from the air,” said lead author Alison Towner, a senior shark scientist at Marine Dynamics Academy in Gansbaai, South Africa.
Only two killer whales in South Africa have been thought to hunt great whites, and one of those two was seen in the footage, along with four others. This has led researchers to speculate the behaviour may be learned.
When asked on Instagram whether this behaviour was spreading, lead researcher Towner said: “Cultural transmission is a reality yes.” She was also asked whether it was the two “famous” orcas that have been reportedly attacked Great Whites before. She said: “Quite likely them but could be others.”

When Italian entrepreneur Carlo Crocco founded Hublot in 1980, the brand was the epitome of a disruptor. Not only did Hublot introduce the first ever natural rubber strap in the history of watchmaking, but Hublot paired that rubber strap with a gold watch – an unthinkable combination back then. But it worked.
The rest, as they say, is history. That unexpected fusion of sporty rubber with luxurious gold and a minimal, industrial design proved to be a hit with watch fans – and 43 years later, Hublot remains one of the most popular and disruptive watchmakers on the market.
These days, Hublot’s best known for chronographs like the Big Bang and their unique experiments in material technologies – ceramics, sapphire crystal, and of course, gold… Their watches aren’t what you’d call subtle. Not that there’s a problem with that, but it’s easy to forget that the brand’s first effort; the one that established them, was an exercise in subtlety.
Forget no longer. At LVMH Watch Week 2023, Hublot has brought back that original, groundbreaking design in the form of the Classic Fusion Original collection: a watch collection that remains incredibly faithful to those original Hublots of the 1980s while continuing that tradition of innovation.

While these new Classic Fusion Originals are dead ringers for the, well, originals, they bring a few new changes to the table. Firstly, they’re available in three different case materials as well as three different case sizes: yellow gold, titanium and black magic (black ceramic); and 33, 38 and 42mm respectively.
It’s quite a unisex watch so having that choice of sizes makes a lot of sense. Despite the integrated nature of the rubber strap, they all wear slightly smaller than their cases sizes advertise, actually. Having tried them on, my favourite is easily the 38mm. I’ve got big wrists and can easily rock a 42mm but the 38 is super elegant; super classy.
RELATED: Wearing A Mechanical Watch Is An Underrated Mindfulness Hack
Indeed, that’s the allure of the Classic Fusion Original: it’s an elegant, understated Hublot, if such a thing is possible. There’s that fertile friction between the avant-garde nature of its design and its restrained execution. It’s both peak 80’s maximalism and minimalism all in once, with an undeniable air of sprezzatura.
Hublot had some pretty out-there high watchmaking releases this LVMH Watch Week but it’s the Classic Fusion Original that I reckon is the best of the bunch. It’s an accessible, stylish and quirky dress watch for those who’re looking for something a bit different – both in a watch and in a Hublot. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, we suppose.

Behold: Nick Kyrgios and Novak Djokovic have a bromance. From Nick supporting Djokovic when he was banned from playing last year to their upcoming exhibition match at the Australian Open, the pair’s friendship is going from strength to strength.
If you think Nick Kyrgios is controversial, you should see Novak Djokovic. The Russian superstar is a legend of the game and is currently ranked world No. 5 in singles by the Association of Tennis Professionals. Despite this, he is still considered the player to beat on tour by many, with some saying tournaments that don’t include Djokovic don’t really count.
Nick Kyrgios can be counted among that number, telling media in Dubai: “I think Novak needs to be playing at all costs. He’s one of the greatest of all time and as long as he’s going to be playing and hanging around, we need him at these tournaments.”

“I think, as a competitor, I want to see him there. And if I win a tournament, if you don’t go through Novak, then you kind of know the tournament isn’t really a tournament.”
According to Spanish news outlet puntodebreak.com, Djokovic has appreciated Kyrgios’ support over the last few years, saying: “I wasn’t his favourite person, let’s just say that, for a number of years, but he was one of the few people who supported me last year, and I respect that and appreciate that. In those moments you can really see who really supports you and who stands by your side and goes with the flow of society and the pressures that the media puts on them.”
“He gave me unconditional support in difficult moments. Since then, our relationship has changed for the better.”
Novak Djokovic
“I’m talking to him about doing something a week before the Australian Open starts. I talked to Nick, I’d like to play him, and he agreed, but he wants shorter sets. Let’s see if he goes well.”
Kyrgios’ and Djokovic’s exhibition match, which is due to take place at 6:30pm on Friday the 13th, and which sold out in 58 minutes, will see the pair face off at Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne Park.
Wow Nick Kyrgios is bad for the sport! Wow what a disgrace, a national embarrassment! How dare he sell out another stadium, the arrogance https://t.co/Sn37U2nAjv
— Nicholas Kyrgios (@NickKyrgios) January 10, 2023
While it remains unknown if Kyrgios will invite Djokovic to go clubbing this time round (as he jokingly did at Wimbledon in July last year), it will surely be an exciting match to watch (and a hell of a warm up).
For those wondering what the deal was there, Kyrgios reportedly suggested Djokovic come to a nightclub with him and go nuts, with Djokovic saying: “Let’s start with dinner and drinks and then we will see.”
Djokovic was also quite complimentary about Kyrgios after the match, which Djokovic won, saying “Nick, you will be back.”
He added: “I think you are a phenomenal tennis player and athlete. Amazing talent. You have been hearing all of that for many years. But now everything is starting to come together for you. So I’m sure we are going to see much of you in the later stages of a grand slam.”
“And I never thought I am going to say so many nice things about you considering, but it’s officially a bromance. Hopefully this is the start of a wonderful relationship between the two of us.”
Given the upcoming events in Australia, we’d say their bromance is continuing to blossom.

After Tesla’s stock tanked in 2022, many investors are now wondering if now might be a good time to scoop up a bargain. To assess the situation, Seneca Financial Solutions’ investment analyst Ben Richards is here with his take on the situation.
Disclaimer: This article is of a general nature only and does not consider your objectives, financial situation or needs.
You should consider the appropriateness of the information in light of your objectives, financial situation and needs before acting on it and obtain copies of any relevant disclosure documents. Seneca Financial Solutions does not warrant the accuracy or reliability of the information in this report.
Tesla stock fell by around 70% in 2022.
A common misconception for investors is that if a stock is down 50% it must now be cheap, despite the fact that it can certainly halve again if the valuation is inflated to begin with. Tesla, at a market capitalisation of ~$375b (down from $1 trillion at one point) still has a higher market value than established giants Mastercard and Meta Platforms (formerly Facebook).
Peter Lynch’s investment philosophy would tell us that observing the growing number of Teslas on the roads could be a hint that the stock is worthy of further investigation. But if everyone can observe this trend, maybe it is already factored into the stock price. As Warren Buffett once said: “price is what you pay, value is what you get.”
Technology, technology, technology

In order to justify buying Tesla shares today, one needs to be comfortable paying a premium multiple relative to their competitors. Bulls may argue that TSLA is not just an automobile manufacturer but a tech company. A similar argument was made in the height of market mania in early 2021 when ‘buy now pay later’ players like Afterpay (since acquired by Block) and Zip were being valued as tech companies rather than unsecured consumer lenders. They once traded at as high as 40x sales. The preceding share price performances speak for themselves.
Part of Tesla’s technological push is in the autonomous vehicles space. The data Tesla is generating for autonomous engineering is valuable but widespread autonomous vehicle adoption is further away than most appreciate. Amara’s Law states that “we tend to overestimate the effect of a technology in the short run and underestimate the effect in the long run.”
Autonomous vehicles have well known challenges – both technical and practical. Cathie Wood’s ARK Invest optimistically estimates robotaxis could account for more than 60% of Tesla’s enterprise value in 2026, just 4 short years away.
The man with the Midas touch?

Tesla’s CEO and face of the company, Elon Musk has had a busy twelve months. He bought social media platform Twitter outright, costing a cool $44b. Elsewhere, Musk’s re-usable rocket and satellite internet company SpaceX raised $750m at a $137b valuation in early 2023.
Tesla is admired as a visionary company but Musk’s ego is bad for brand equity. In a fiercely competitive sector, a large portion of Tesla’s equity value is likely attributable to the Tesla brand.
Competition

Tesla managed to post an impressive 4% increase in vehicle deliveries in 2022 to 1.31 million. The key consideration for investors is the sustainability of this growth rate. Much of the EV stock valuations still depend on their potential rather than current business performance.
In Germany, Europe’s largest auto market, electric vehicles recently took the majority of new auto sales from ICE for the first time in December 2022 according to German research house KBA. The data also shows the Volkswagen electric ID3 outsold its ICE equivalent car, the Golf, for the first time ever.
Old-school car manufacturers are pivoting their businesses towards EVs successfully. Regardless of the fast pace of EV adoption – everyone can see that the trend is upwards – the key to generating shareholder returns is figuring out how much value any given player will capture in the longer term. And Tesla faces stiff competition from numerous well capitalised, established players.
If not TSLA, then what?
We think the EV thematic is here to stay. However, there are many ways to skin a cat when playing this thematic through companies at different stages of the EV value chain. At Seneca, we think there are opportunities presenting themselves in battery material producers both upstream (mining) and downstream (processing) as well as the ‘picks and shovels’ style businesses allowing these deposits to be defined and mined.

Hugh Jackman is an Australian icon. And not for his flexibility. His incredible physique for the role of Wolverine made him famous around the world (as well as his dry wit) and now he has publically responded to the rumours he might have been juicing in order to attain said shape.
Speaking to American talk show host Chris Wallace, 54-year-old Hugh Jackman has denied taking steroids to get shredded for his role of Wolverine. Instead, he revealed, his secret weapon for bulking up was eating chicken – and a lot of it.
“No. I love my job. And I love Wolverine,” Jackman said. “I got to be careful what I say here, but I had been told anecdotally what the side effects are of that. And I was like, ‘I don’t love it that much.’ So, no, I just did it the old-school way.”
He continued: “And I tell you, I’ve eaten more chickens – I’m so sorry to all the vegans and vegetarians and to the chickens of the world. Literally, the karma is not good for me. If the deity has anything related to chickens, I’m in trouble.”

With Jackman set to appear as Wolverine again in the upcoming third Deadpool film, co-starring alongside Ryan Reynolds, it makes sense that his muscles would once again be coming under scrutiny. In order to prepare this time around, Jackman told Wallace he will spend six months training to once again look like Wolverine, saying “I’ve learned it takes time.”
Jackman has played Wolverine 9 times, so he is well accustomed to the pressures of getting into shape for the role. Fortunately he has plenty of time this time, telling Wallace, “So, we have six months from when I finish (The Music Man) to when I start filming [for Wolverine].”

He added: “I’m really fit right now. There’s one thing about eight shows a week being on Broadway, singing and dancing, is I’m fit. So, I’m healthy. I have a good place to start.”

Australia has been divided in its response to Cardinal George Pell’s death. This is evident in the contrasting Twitter trends that appeared this morning, which ranged from “Rest in Peace” to “Burn in Hell.”
Cardinal George Pell has died. The 81-year-old was undergoing hip surgery when he experienced heart complications that led to his death. He was in Rome at the time. The Australian federal government is set to bring Cardinal Pell’s remains back to Australia. He is to be buried in St Mary’s Cathedral in Sydney.
Cardinal Pell was sent to prison for child sexual abuse in 2019, but had his convictions quashed more than a year later by the High Court. He was at the head of the Vatican’s finances from 2014 to 2019.
As journalist Tim Callanan pointed out this morning, the Cardinal’s passing has generated a number of trending topics on Twitter. These ranged from “burn in hell” and “good riddance” to “rest in peace.”

On social media, further divergent viewpoints were posted in response to the polarising figure’s death. While Tony Abbot took to Twitter to mourn his friend’s passing, many others could be seen celebrating.

Vale to George Cardinal Pell – a lion of the Faith who remained true when others fell away or kept quiet. The Cardinal was a cerebral & very serious man who suffered many grave calumnies & became a ‘green martyr’ as a wrongfully accused prisoner. May he now rest in peace.
— Gray Connolly (@GrayConnolly) January 10, 2023
Underneath The Daily Aus’ heralding of the news, many comments rolled in like “slayyy,” “love that for him” and “Bai bish.”

Australia’s Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said Cardinal Pell’s death would have “come as a shock to many”, and said that he has reached out to Sydney Archbishop Anthony Fisher to express the government’s condolences.
