We’re constantly told that exercising and eating a balanced diet are the best ways to avoid contracting any sort of metabolic diseases. But a new study has found that by simply changing the time you eat, you could reduce your chances of heart disease or diabetes.Researchers from the Salk Institute and the University of California San Diego School of Medicine have found that by simply restricting your eating to a 10-hour window aids with weight loss, reduces the amount of abdominal fat, and can lower your blood pressure and cholesterol. The study was also found to deliver more stable blood insulin levels for participants, indicating it can benefit those with diabetes.A small sample of 19 participants was used for the study, all of whom were diagnosed with metabolic syndrome and who all claimed to eat during a window of more than 14-hours each day. The group had to log what they ate and when they ate it using an app for the first two weeks, and then had to restrict themselves to a 10-hour eating period for three months. To help get over the initial hurdle of changing up their eating habits, most participants either delayed their first meal or ate their last meal of the day, earlier. On the whole, participants said they experienced a better quality of sleep, and reported a loss of weight, a reduction of their BMI and came out of the study with a slimmer waist. Blood pressure was found to be lower across all participants, too, indicating intermittent fasting can indeed have major health benefits. This practice of intermittent fasting isn’t necessarily new, but this study, which was published on Thursday the 5th of December, provides evidence it can have genuine, positive effects on your body. The science says that by eating all of your recommended calories within a set 10-hour period each day you can support your circadian rhythm – the 24-hour cycle of biological processes that affect virtually every cell in your body.Speaking to Science Daily, Emily Manoogian, the paper’s co-first author, says:
“Eating and drinking everything (except water) within a consistent 10-hour window allows your body to rest and restore for 14 hours at night. Your body can also anticipate when you will eat so it can prepare to optimise metabolism.”
On the contrary, an erratic eating pattern, such as random meals each day of the week, can disrupt your body’s natural processes and potentially increase your risk of contracting metabolic syndrome.Satchidananda Panda, co-corresponding author, and professor in Salk’s Regulatory Biology Laboratory added: “Adapting this 10-hour time-restricted eating is an easy and cost-effective method for reducing symptoms of metabolic syndrome and improving health.”
“By delaying the onset of diabetes by even one year in a million people with prediabetes, the intervention could save roughly 9.6 billion dollars in healthcare costs.”
With around 1.2 million people diagnosed with diabetes in Australia, and the Type 2 variant being able to affect anyone at any time in their life, the results of this study could be life-changing.

Christmas. A time for family and friends to gather together to celebrate another year gone, to look forward to the year ahead and to eat stupid amounts of food…or is that just us?Or, if you’re Drake, it’s a time to don a crazy coat to upstage all your guests at your annual Christmas event. The Canadian native regularly goes big with his fashion choices – and spends big on accessories – but his Louis Vuitton robe coat could be his most lavish yet.In a post uploaded to his personal Instagram, Hotline Bling can be seen rocking the bathrobe-cum-coat from the French fashion house, with iconic LV branding in full force. And being high-end designer fashion, don’t expect the post-shower comforter to come in at the affordable end of the scale. We’ve found Drake’s 100 percent shearling coat online for US$18,600, but even if you can afford that, you can’t buy one as it’s out of stock. We can’t comment too much on the rest of his outfit…because we can’t see it under the outlandish bathroom accessory, save from a black t-shirt and gold chain. He clearly decided to leave his Raptors NBA Championship ring in its box on this occasion.

It’s certainly a less formal ensemble compared to that of his other guests, which included Toronto Raptors point guard Kyle Lowry and power forward Serge Ibaka, as well as Cargojet owner Ajay Virmani. Virmani recently named Drake as an ambassador his air cargo service, gifting him a private Boeing 767 airplane in the process.Merry Christmas, from Drizzy Drake.

Knives Out may be over but Daniel Craig’s time delivering dry one-liners may be just beginning. Is this not obvious? After all, his swan song as the infamous (and witty) James Bond is just around the corner. Apparently not; even though Craig’s Bond, in our eyes, has given us plenty to grin at (remember the “certainly sir; sorry sir” scene in Casino Royale where Bond accepts a demanding tourist’s car keys, only to violently park it into the car behind, or when he implored Le Chiffre to scratch his balls), many have argued 007 is slowly losing its sense of British humour.
Pierce Brosnan is one among them who – along with John Cleese – has criticised the 007 franchise for losing its subtle sense of humour.
As The Irish Post reported in 2018, “according to Brosnan, the far-fetched nature of the films, complete with inventive gadgets and amusing innuendos, was part of their appeal in the first place.”
“Speaking in an interview with The Rake magazine, the 65-year-old argued that the franchise has lost its way after it was forced to reinvent bond as a more… brooding character,” The Irish Post reported.
“It is different now… they have… given it a much more muscular, dynamic twist.”

“When I played him you have to let the audience in that this is a fantastic joke – this man, jumping off a motorcycle and catching up a plane, is completely preposterous. But for me, you had to let them in… Sean (Connery) did it, Roger (Moore) did it par excellence.”
Still not sure what he’s talking about? Picture Roger Moore, eyebrows on high alert, telling a blonde lady in a ski chalet, as they lie on a fur rug, “Something’s come up,” in reference to orders from ‘M’. Now picture Daniel Craig destroying a hapless tourist’s Land Rover. See what they mean?
However, all is not lost, as new evidence from Wednesday’s official ‘No Time To Die‘ trailer suggests Daniel Craig’s swan song (to the Bond franchise) may contain a healthy dose of British humour.
View this post on Instagram
Case in point number one: 40 seconds into the new trailer, Lashana Lynch, who plays a new ’00’ agent, tells Bond, “You get in my way, I will put a bullet in your knee… The one that works.”
Then, barely ten seconds later (in the trailer) Bond is met with a scene we can all sympathise with: an overly officious civil servant: “Name?” the man asks. “Bond.” The man looks up, fingers poised. “James Bond.”
Cut to the next scene, in which Bond greets Q with a wry smile: “So, you’re not dead,” Q says. “Hello Q, I’ve missed you,” Bond rhymes, entering Q’s flat without waiting for an answer.
Admittedly this is not much to go off, but still, you wouldn’t expect them to give away all the best lines in the teaser. Not to mention: the top comments in the Youtube comments section beneath the trailer, known for being critical at best and vicious at worst, are overwhelmingly positive.
Although one man laments the changes the series has made since Craig’s debut in Casino Royale (“I miss Casino Royale, feels like the most cohesive out of all the Bond movies”), the rest are cautiously optimistic: “after falling asleep in the last one, James finally woke up,” one user wrote.
View this post on Instagram
“Spoiler: Rami Malek is playing Dr. No, hence the title ‘No, Time To Die,’ quipped another. Further down the jokes kept rolling with one man writing, “Good thing he wasn’t driving the Tesla Cybertruck,” (referring to the scene at the end of the trailer where Bond is shot at inside the new Bond car, before doing a burnout and blasting his enemies to smithereens).
View this post on Instagram
Another commenter even said that the trailer was so good it outweighed the controversy over the supposedly ‘basic’ movie title: “Everybody talking about the name of this movie. I’m over here thinking if that motorbike trick is real or not,” he says, referring to another scene where Bond channels his inner Evil Knievel.
So, while no one can say for sure until ‘No Time To Die’ really hits the screen, we’ve got out fingers crossed (and our hopes) up for a few quality one-liners from this last rendition of The Most Muscular Bond.

King of the court Lebron James can frequently be found rocking swanky outfits. Just last week he sent hypebeasts into meltdown with his accessories, with the fashion world demanding to know where his hat was from. This week he’s once again a go-to style guru, showing us all how to rock high-end fashion brands with streetwear, when he attended the LA Lakers vs Denver Nuggets game on the 4th of December. He keeps the majority of the outfit street style, combining dark ripped jeans with a Greg Lauren black hooded sweatshirt. It might be streetwear style, but Lebron’s hoodie isn’t necessarily streetwear money. We haven’t been able to find the exact piece he’s wearing, but considering Greg Lauren’s other hoodies come in at around US$2,500, we’d expect Lebron’s to be of a similar ilk.He finishes the street part of his ensemble with a pair of Nike Air Max Tinker Schematic sneakers, which will set you back around US$235, if you can find a pair. But since this is Lebron, a man who gets paid more per minute than you (likely) do per month, he has to take things up a notch in the style stakes, and so he pairs his streetwear-inspired outfit with a high-end coat from French fashion house Lanvin.Again, the exact coat he’s wearing remains a mystery, it could well be from an upcoming collection. Other coats on the company’s website start at around US$1,500 but rise to $3,500. We’d imagine Lebron’s is on the more expensive side.Even some commenters have been quick to point out that Lebron has mixed two styles: “Lebron wearing a hoodie underneath,” which received the reply, “yeah cause it’s Lebron.”

Finally, clearly wanting to one-up Ben Simmons and the other NBA ballers who are jumping on the ‘lunchbox bling’ bandwagon, Lebron is seen wheeling a Supreme x Rimowa suitcase. The man evidently has numerous personal belongings or just a change of clothes. Anything that comes from Supreme is notoriously hard to get a hold of, but you can try and nab yourself the same suitcase as the Lakers’ power forward for around US$1,500.Lebron once again proving that fashion rules are made to be broken.

When it comes to looking for love online, it all now boils down to a quick left or right swipe on somebody’s face. No more going up to someone in a bar or a club. Instead, we’ll have our head down in our phone in the same bar and hope to find someone nearby who’s online that we can hook up with. And despite Jason Sudekis doing his best to keep chivalry alive, that stereotype looks ever more like reality. While there’s a good chance you’ll swipe based purely on looks, a person’s bio can give an insight into their personality. It can also help boost your chances of securing a match, according to some recent Tinder research. The company synonymous with app-based dating has just released its ‘Year in Swipe’ review for 2019, telling us which words and phrases were used most commonly in Tinder bios, which topics got us talking and which emojis we used the most. With regards to emojis, which were recently found to improve your chances of getting a first date, Tinder found that over 300 million of them were used in bios throughout 2019, with the most-used one being the facepalm character. Tinder says we used it because we can’t deal with the problems going on in the world right now. But we all secretly know girls use it because they’re fed up with f*ckbois. As for the words we used the most in our profiles? The top 10 list clearly shows that Generation Z (18-24 year olds) are far more active on the dating app than anyone else, with the number one spot going to the word “woke”. This was closely followed by “lit” and “mood”. The English language is dying a slow and painful death, it seems. However, Tinder adds that the same Gen Z’ers were more likely to reference social causes such as climate change and gun control in their bios, compared to Millenials who were more interested in talking travel. But for us Australians, talking about anything from the Bachelor to Mardis Gras could help secure you a date.Or, as The Daily Mail adds, you could reveal you want to help work toward a more sustainable planet, with words such as ‘almond milk’, ‘keto’ and ‘vegan’ all appearing frequently in bios of those under 25. You’ll be wise to add some of these to your own bio since other Aussie singletons are looking for someone with the same moral beliefs (or you could try going down the totally honest route, like this guy). The path of wellness, not only good for the planet but good for your love life. For anyone still confused, here are a few bonus tips on improving your bio, courtesy of Tinder advice website Zirby: “there are 2 secrets to writing a Tinder bio – showing, not telling [and] getting her curious.”In other words, don’t write “I’m adventurous and funny,” instead prove it by “sharing mini-stories” or quips. Got it? Now: get editing before you get swiping.

For decades now the humble M65 field jacket has been a staple for men worldwide. Its simple military styling makes it practical, versatile and easy to pair with any outfit. On the surface, it might seem like the humble M65 is the perfect jacket, but it has one significant flaw – warmth. The original M65 was made out of olive cotton drab with some featuring internal quilting, which wasn’t all that warm, making it only really useful in moderately cold weather. Native North, a Danish brand loved the style of the M65, but wanted something to suit the harsh winter conditions of the Danish winter and hence the Storm M65 was born. The style of the jacket is very similar to the original M65 and features flat pockets on the front, a hood that can be zipped away in the collar and an olive green colour. Unlike the M65 of old, the Storm M65 has a 3-layer wind and waterproof outer layer and thick cotton padding to keep the wearer warm, dry and comfortable in any conditions. The best part? You’ll have yourself a jacket that can perform in harsh conditions and that can be easily styled like the M65 you already have. For a limited time, you can score 20% off its retail price of $473 and score it for $379. Considering the versatility, stylishness and cold weather capability of the Storm M65 you’ll forever be pleased to have it in your wardrobe.Shop Native North Storm M65 $473 $379

Getting shredded is an eternal struggle. One weekend slip and your abs won’t be covered in glory so much as Doritos. But we digress: in this influencer saturated era, the problem isn’t that there isn’t enough information, it’s that there’s a tidal wave, and everyone cherry-picks studies to support their own viewpoint.
Keto dieters say carbs are the devil; vegans would have you subsist off them. UFC fighters love elk meat; Yogis love spelt. Bodybuilders skull protein smoothies; Instagram fitness gurus say a healthy combination of air and water is the way to go. Oh, and don’t even get us started on skipping breakfast intermittent fasting.

As Joe Rogan’s ‘Game Changer’ (semi) backflip this morning showed us, it can be damn hard to know what’s right when everyone has their own reading of the facts (see the debate here).
Vegans, you’re gonna LOVE this one! @lightningwilks, one of the producers of “the game changers” came on to challenge some of the criticism that Chris Kresser presenter about the movie, and to say he did well would… https://t.co/zCGsJ73NbJ

Anyway: as people realise it’s easier to stick to a habit if it comes with a cultural identity, it’s important to keep the facts in mind. While going low carb, for instance, might give you a reference point that keeps you honest, there are a number of common mistakes you should watch out for that could inhibit your shred.
Enter: ‘starvation mode’ one of the most misunderstood phenomenons of the low carb movement, which nutrition coach Graeme Tomlinson says is “one of the most frequently asked questions regarding stagnation/reversal of weight loss.”
Taking to Instagram last week, Graeme debunked the myths around ‘starvation mode,’ in doing so helping us understand why our belly fat remains as gelatinous as ever. But first: a little context. What exactly is ‘starvation mode’?
According to Graeme, “The term (and those who coined it) claim that if one’s caloric intake is very low, that our metabolism defies the simple equation of energy balance to halt fat reduction and to protect our anatomy from literal starvation.” In other words: the theory that eating less triggers your body to retain more fat.
“The theory goes as far to claim this state may also create a state of protective increased fat storage. But the explanation is a little different and requires greater clarity.”
“Instead,” Graeme adds, “there are many reasons why weight loss unexpectedly slows down or reverses – and they all rather poetically result in one simply not being in a state of caloric deficit. Under appreciation of calories consumed can lead one to believe they are in a caloric deficit, when simply, they are not.”
View this post on Instagram
“Perceived movement and exercise,” the nutrition coach continues, “can lead one to believe they are burning more calories than they actually are. Whilst there is adherence to regular exercise, less energy as a result of caloric deficiency may result in less calories being burned.”
“Additionally, miscalculation of one’s calorie amount or failing to adjust calorie intake/energy expenditure as weight decreases may result in one no longer being in a state of caloric deficit.”
Why is this? As Graeme explains, “If the caloric deficit has been particularly aggressive, metabolic adaptation may occur to affect resting energy expenditure. Therefore, energy expenditure predicted by online calculators may be different from what is required [and] as a result, weight may increase or weight loss may be slower than expected.”
So, how do you get the perfect six-pack? Start by understanding this: “there is no metabolic ‘starvation mode’ magic. Only actual starvation and non-starvation,” something Max says is supported by studies like the Minnesota starvation experiment.
“Body fat does not reduce if one is simply not in a state of caloric deficit, the reason for this is likely to be one of the above.”
In other words: if you’re looking to uncover that Michelangelo six pack you know to be sculped somewhere within you, get back to basics, do some smart workouts on the regular and eat a wide and varied diet (or if you’re looking to take it to the next level, get offline and consult a qualified nutritionists to discuss your personal aims).

Whenever we talk about Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson here at DMARGE, it’s usually got something to do with an insane workout or a gluttonous cheat day, but the Hollywood star who is consistently ranked among the highest-paid celebrities knows a thing or two when it comes to style, too.
Or does he? We’re not sure about the outfit he wore for the UK premiere of his latest film, ‘Jumanji: Next Level’ on December the 5th. Deciding to go more formal than his looks for the other European premieres earlier in the week, the ex-wrestler wouldn’t look too out of place at a school formal.
He made the (very) bold move to swap out a traditional black, midnight blue or white dinner jacket for a garish pink version instead. If he isn’t heading to a school formal then he should be presenting the Generation Game instead.
Fortunately, he rescues the outfit somewhat with his choice of watch, an IWC Portugieser Chronograph.
Specifically, it’s the IW371482, one of the more expensive variants within the Portugieser range, although it doesn’t come close to the asking price of the Portugieser Grande Complication. While that model will set you back US$235,000, you can get your own Portugieser Chronograph and be just like The Rock, for a rather more affordable US$16,100.
The giant Hollywood megastar has gone through his fair share of outfits on the press trip for the new Jumanji movie, including an array of timepieces. He could be seen wearing a gorgeous Panerai Radiomir PAM00515 watch at the French premiere a couple of days ago. It’s the most expensive variant within the Radiomir range at US$21,500, thanks in no small part to its proprietary Goldtech material, which combines a small amount of copper, with gold to create an alloy that gives off a distinctive red hue.
https://www.instagram.com/p/B5qEgEpF424/
He teamed that timepiece with a black Dolce & Gabbana turtleneck (a menswear piece we don’t see enough of, to be honest), grey pants and Christian Louboutin black leather boots – he owes a great deal of thanks to his personal stylist, Ilaria Urbinati.
The Rock delivering style smackdowns day in, day out.
