He’ll be back. And what a back it is for a 72-year-old retired bodybuilder. Earlier this week Arnold Schwarzenegger showed the world that he still has what it takes to match those half his age in the gym.
The actor took to Instagram with a video of himself doing lat pulldowns three days after he was infamously fly kicked in the back by a youngster during a tour in South Africa in May this year. There’s been rumours that the kid who kicked him broke both his legs and is still in a coma, but we digress.
Testament to Arnie’s decades of solid training in the gym, the 72-year-old managed to complete 12 lat pull downs with the maximum weight which you can witness in the video below.
More than just another Arnie hype video, it’s proof that men can still work out well into their senior years given the right training preparation and self-care. The common excuse that you’re too old and a family man? That doesn’t quite register considering Arnie has five kids of his own.

As further proof here’s Arnie working on his biceps in an Instagram post from earlier in the year. Still need more advice on how to pump iron from the big man? Here he is explaining how to do proper reps.

Project Sunrise has been smouldering for some time but today Qantas has announced a meatier chunk of the plan: they are going to run two experimental flights direct from New York to Sydney later this year, with 40 onboard passengers comprised of mostly Qantas crew.
As for the rest of the seats? Invitation only. But don’t worry: if Project Sunrise comes to fruition you’ll be able to book as many direct flights to the city that never sleeps as your circadian rhythm can handle.
Qantas has announced a third research flight too, from London to Sydney, also as part of Project Sunrise – the airline’s long term plan to operate regular, non-stop commercial flights from the east coast of Australia (Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne) to London and New York.
How do these three “research” flights fit into the master scheme? According to Qantas these ultra-long-haul flights (two from New York to Sydney, one from London to Sydney) are intended to “gather new data about inflight passenger and crew health and wellbeing.”
The three flights will take place over three months (October, November and December, 2019), and will use new Boeing 787-9s, re-routing their planned delivery flights (instead of flying empty from Seattle to Australia as they normally would, the aircraft will simulate two Project Sunrise routes – London and New York to Sydney).
This will be the world’s first flight by a commercial airline direct from New York to Sydney, and the second time a commercial airline has flown directly from London to Sydney (both take about 19 hours, depending on weather conditions).
Qantas says each flight “will have a maximum of 40 people, including crew, in order to minimise weight and give the necessary fuel range.” Carbon emissions from the flights will also be fully offset.
The main reason for the flights, however, is the onboard research, which is being designed in partnership with Sydney University’s Charles Perkins Centre and Monash University in conjunction with CRC for Alertness, Safety and Productivity.
According to Qantas, “People in the cabin… will be fitted with wearable technology devices and take part in specific experiences at varying stages of the approximately 19 hour flights.”
“Scientists and medical experts from the Charles Perkins Centre will monitor sleep patterns, food and beverage consumption, lighting, physical movement and inflight entertainment to assess impact on health, wellbeing and body clock.”
“Monash University researchers will [also] work with pilots to record crew melatonin levels before, during and after the flights,” Qantas says. In addition to that, “pilots will wear an EEG (electroencephalogram) device that tracks brain wave patterns and monitors alertness,” to establish data that will assist in “building the optimum work and rest pattern for pilots operating long haul services.”
Qantas Group CEO Alan Joyce said this will give medical experts the chance to do real-time research that will translate into health and wellbeing benefits: “Ultra-long haul flying presents a lot of common sense questions about the comfort and wellbeing of passengers and crew. These flights are going to provide invaluable data to help answer them.”
“For customers, the key will be minimising jet lag and creating an environment where they are looking forward to a restful, enjoyable flight. For crew, it’s about using scientific research to determine the best opportunities to promote alertness when they are on duty and maximise rest during their down time on these flights.”
“No airline has done this kind of dedicated research before and we’ll be using the results to help shape the cabin design, inflight service and crew roster patterns for Project Sunrise… [and potentially] to improve our existing long-haul flights,” added Mr Joyce.
Customer feedback on food choices, separate stretching and wellbeing zones and entertainment options will also be tested, and findings on crew wellbeing data will be shared with the Civil Aviation Safety Authority to help inform regulatory requirements associated with ultra-long-haul flights.
Why are Qantas dedicating so many resources to this project? Comments from Mr Joyce like, “Flying non-stop from the East Coast of Australia to London and New York is truly the final frontier in aviation,” hint at why.
Another point of interest is that – although Boeing 787-9s have been confirmed as the jets for these three experimental flights – both Airbus and Boeing have pitched aircraft (A350 and 777X) to Qantas that are capable of operating Project Sunrise flights with a viable commercial payload.
A final decision on this – which depends on aircraft economics, regulatory approvals and industrial agreements – is expected by the end of December 2019.
While things are currently looking red and bouncy for the Aussie flagship airline, Mr Joyce has also pointed out that it’s too early to assume anything.
“There’s plenty of enthusiasm for Sunrise, but it’s not a foregone conclusion. This is ultimately a business decision and the economics have to stack up.”
As for booking yourself onto one of these research flights? Sorry, but you’ll have to forget about this particular ambition; the airline has said that “other than crew, those in the cabin will mostly be Qantas employees taking part in testing,” and that “no seats will be sold as these flights are for research purposes only.”

The humble tracksuit has come a long way from its velour heyday in the late-70s. Once the reserve of power walkers, Run-DMC and sometimes the sartorially inept, trackies today are enjoying a resurgence in a far chicer form.
Now loved by celebrities on the move, CEOs and those of the normcore persuasion, the tracksuit has become shorthand for the perfect mixture of comfort, style and even high luxury (hello, Balenciaga). Today, we explain how to pull off this ultimate leisurewear ensemble to the best effect.
In This Story…
How To Wear A Tracksuit As Active Wear

Tracksuits, by virtue of their very name, lend themselves to being worn as part of an active ensemble. However, this doesn’t make it excusable to slap on just any scruffy hoodie and sweatpants and be done with your weekend gym look. No way. If you’re wearing your tracksuit beyond the front door — and let’s face it, most of us do — then you need to think about fit.
First and foremost, look at track pants from the likes of Under Armour, Nike or Lululemon that taper around the calves. These make for a more streamlined silhouette and ensure your look is athletic, not dumpy. Pair these with a fitted workout tee and a smart zip up hoodie or gilet in a tech-fleece fabric. Investing in wicking fabrics (they take sweat away from the body) adds polish to a tracksuit and makes it feel more appropriate as active wear that can take you from the gym to brunch and beyond.
When considering colour ways, keep it simple. I like to stick with dark neutrals — think black, grey and khaki. These give your tracksuit an urban edge and are also versatile when it comes to mixing different tops and bottoms.
How To Wear A Casual Tracksuit

Even I have to acknowledge that track suits have moved beyond the realm of couch clothes and gym gear. Favoured by travellers, hipsters and urban gadabouts, tracksuits being worn as day wear is well and truly a thing. This being said, it’s not an easy look to pull off. To do so, one requires a heavy dose of swagger and the exact right elements.
Let’s start with the basics. If you’re rocking a tracksuit as day wear, don’t dive in with a full-blown matching ensemble. Instead, give your sweats some shape and contrast with a fitted marle grew neck sweater and black or navy fitted track pants. You could even look at layering this with a black gilet from the likes of a Moncler for a look that blends athleisure with the high-street.
For more die-hard fans, look to urban cult brands like Champion Athletic, Supreme or even Gucci for full top ‘n’ tail track suits that are sure to make a statement. Champion in particular boasts a range of colours from caramel to pale pink in boxy 90s fits. Pair these with chunky white sneakers like a classic pair of Nike Airforce Ones for a committed street look.
If sweats alone don’t cut it, think about layering with contrasting fabrics. Wind breakers and bomber jackets are a great way to elevate a track suit whilst still maintaining an urban, relaxed feel. Zayn Malik makes the case in point, layering a khaki fly jacket over a darker olive tracksuit.
How To Accessorise A Tracksuit

When it comes to accessorising a tracksuit, the key is keeping it casual. Don’t add any accessories you wouldn’t throw on over gym gear; a baseball cap, sunnies and a duffel bag is more than enough and will ensure you maintain a laid back aesthetic.
For bags in particular, think about premium, athletic fabrics and constructions that are a stylistic extension of your tracksuit. Lululemon has an enviable selection as does Melbourne based label Rains.
It’s also worth using accessories as a way to liven up your tracksuit. Add a New Era cap with your favourite baseball team logo or even a pair of Persol sunglasses to inject some understated elegance to this casual look.
What Shoes To Wear With A Tracksuit

Given how plain a track suit can look, footwear provides a golden opportunity to add some flare to your outfit. Think about statement sneakers from the likes of Balenciaga, Guiseppe Zanotti or even Nike to dress things up. This kind of shoe also ensures that your ensemble looks put together rather than sloppily thrown on.
If you’re wearing a day-wear style tracksuit, think about more classic sneakers like a pair of Oliver Cabell plimsolls or Adidas Stan Smith’s that imbue an urban aesthetic. These pair sensationally with a tapered pair of track pants and a plain tee-shirt. Throw on a vest and a classic pair of sunglasses for an understated weekend look.
Regardless of your footwear selection, it’s important to think about socks too. There’s nothing worse than a bulky pair of white sport socks peeking from the top of an otherwise perfectly acceptable pair of sneakers. Instead, look for fine knit socks that sit flush with your shoes — this ensure a more fluid line and will ensure you look athletic.
Tracksuits FAQ
Nylon and polyester are the most used fabrics of activewear as they are breathable, lightweight and sweat-wicking. Cotton tracksuits has also become popular. If you are looking for alternatives to wear with your tracksuit pants, you will not go wrong with a simple crew neck sweater, V-neck jumper or fitted button-down shirt. Tracksuit jackets are casual and versatile. They can be worn with jeans, joggers or shorts. They key is to match the colours. Bright-coloured jackets will look great with dark jeans or shorts. What is the best material for a tracksuit?

He was once reported to be worth up to $150 million but Curtis Jackson, better known professionally as 50 Cent, has since become a bit of an entertainment industry mogul thanks to his entrepreneurial pursuits.
And this week he had the suit and overzealous watch to prove it. Stepping out at the final season premiere of ‘Power’ in New York City, the 44-year-old rapper donned one of the most eye-catching suits you’ll see this year.
50 Cent took the monochrome concept to the next level by rocking a full tie-dye black and white suit which isn’t afraid to give you a migraine if you stare too long. With elements derived from the more common camo suit, 50 Cent’s suit featured explosive blotches allover, a pattern which most men will not be able to pull off.
The unconventional suit was further paired to crisp white sneakers, a white dress shirt, white tie, and enough jewellery on the right hand to buy a small island.
Besides the generously-encrusted diamond ring, 50 Cent also rocked one of his custom Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Off Shore timepieces, a watch which is currently on-trend with well-heeled athletes and entertainers. In Jackson’s case, he wasn’t afraid of pushing that custom concept to bold new heights with the amount of diamonds adorning the face and bracelet.
Whilst there’s no official price tag on his exact piece, a quick search pegs the price of a standard Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph at around the US$20,000 mark. Start playing with diamonds though and the model like the one above (not the exact specifications as Jackson’s) can quickly skyrocket past US$100,000, a ballpark we assume 50 Cent is playing in.
The real question? No one asked for it but is tie-dye really back? We’ll wait and see if the rapper chooses to step out in one again in future.

We’d all like arms like pythons but the reality is often more twig-like. Emulate Dylan Alcott’s bicep-busting workout, however, and you’ll be battle-rope ready in no time. The Australian wheelchair tennis star, basketball champion, beanie wearer and Triple J radio host recently posted a video to Instagram showing how he gets his match-winning guns.

Whether it’s hitting the pads or shaking the battle rope, there’s a lot of inspiration an arm-building gent can take from Mr Alcott (not to mention an inspirational outlook on life). And the people of Instagram clearly want to see more: from “in a singlet next time please” to “go hard big dog” the appreciative comments keep rolling in.As for his secret to explosive arm strength? Judging by these workouts we are calling it consistency and intensity. Not only that, but as one savvy commenter pointed out, Alcott’s bursts of training give us an even broader lesson in sport: “in moments of pressure, you don’t rise to the occasion – you sink to the level of your training.” In other words: he (or she) who trains best wins.Words Dylan Alcott lives by. And if you want bigger arms – or simply to perform at a higher level – ones you should live by too.

Think Pointy End travel is all about champagne? Think again. It’s about flying flat – and we have lumbar-tingling news: Singapore Airlines yesterday announced that (from the 1st of November 2019) customers will be able to enjoy Premium Economy and lie-flat Business Class seats on all of the airlines’ 36 weekly flights to and from Melbourne, with the introduction of the A350-900.
The introduction of the A350-900 on the SQ247/8 flight also means Singapore Airlines will offer lie-flat Business Class seats on all services to and from Australia from the 1st of November 2019.
Singapore Airlines’ Regional Vice President Southwest Pacific, Philip Goh said the introduction of the A350-900 to Melbourne will help perfect the company’s product consistency both domestically and abroad.
“We are very excited to be able to offer our customers a level of product consistency and service across all Singapore Airlines operated services to and from Australia.”
“From 1 November every one of our 141 weekly flights from our six destinations across Australia will provide customers the opportunity to enjoy a lie-flat Business Class seat, while those travelling from Melbourne, Sydney and Canberra will also have the choice of Premium Economy on every flight,” he added.
“Over the past 18 months we have continued to invest in the Australian market, deploying new aircraft to all of our stations across the country.”
Finally: “We’re pleased that the deployment of the A350-900 on flight SQ247/8 from 1 November, along with the other changes we have made over the past 18 months, will deliver customers across Australia improved product consistency, greater comfort, and the enjoyment of the latest cabin products complemented by our famous Singapore Airlines service.”
Does this really matter? If you look at the market trends (or the nearest business class lounge), you’ll see – as we reported last year – it really does. Business-class passengers are a discerning bunch, and (if you don’t count loyalty programs) premium consistency is arguably the most important variable to nail if you want to attract a well off, frequent flying demographic.

On that note: Singapore Airlines’ lie-flat-prioritizing rollout comes amid plays by Qantas to boost their Pointy End offering in and around Australia (like phasing out the Boeing 737 in favour of the newer Airbus A330 on routes like Sydney-Denpasar, which we reported on in May this year).
It also follows Singapore Airlines confirmation last month that SQ247/8 will increase to five times weekly from 1 January, providing more travel options and connectivity to Wellington, Singapore and beyond.
Ready for action? Here’s what Singapore Airlines say about their new offering:
“The A350-900 features 42 Business Class seats in a 1-2-1 layout providing each customer with direct aisle access. Each seat converts into a 78-inch fully-flat bed with cushioned headboard for greater sleeping comfort [and] stowage has been designed to include a side console located above the armrest which allows laptop storage in both seat and bed mode.”
Also.
“Each Business Class seat boasts a personal 18-inch HD LCD screen along with noise cancelling headphones and a video touchscreen handset to help customers enjoy over 1,000 movies, TV, music and game choices on the KrisWorld in-flight entertainment system.”
Not bad.
As for the A350-900’s premium economy? This class, Singapore Airlines says, “features 24 seats in a 2-4-2 layout providing extra comfort, choices, and privileges for passengers.” The experience also starts with priority handling and boarding, and is followed by a seat that includes a calf-rest and footrest for extra comfort.
Further benefits include a seat which reclines up to eight inches (with a 38-inch pitch), a video touchscreen handset and a 13.3 inch HD touch screen monitor, as well as noise-cancelling headphones, and – of course – champagne.
And for those flying a little more economically, cattle class on Singapore Airlines’ A350-900 features 187 seats in a 3-3-3 layout, more legroom and personal space (compared to their older jets) and a 4-way adjustable sculpture headrest.
Another stand out Economy feature, the airline says, “is the 11.1-inch wide touch-screen personal monitor and video touch-screen handset” which lets you view “more than 1,000 entertainment options on [Singapore Airlines’] KrisWorld in-flight entertainment system throughout the journey.”
No matter what cabin you’re in, the A350-900 has been designed with ambience in mind, with higher ceilings, larger windows, and a extra-wide body (as well as a lighting system designed to reduce jetlag).
View this post on Instagram
As it stands, Singapore Airlines has a total of 67 A350-900 aircraft on firm order, having so far taken delivery of 38 of them, the first of which entered the fleet in March 2016.
