Just as rumours have surfaced that McLaren will be switching to Porsche engines for their Formula 1 team, the famous British motorsports outfit share a rare sneak peek at one of the most mental road cars ever made: a Porsche 911 with a Formula 1 engine.
Amidst all the noise of the holiday season and the end of the 2022 Formula 1 World Championship, McLaren’s social media team shared a video of one of the coolest cars in their extensive archive: a 1985 Porsche 911 Turbo powered by a TAG F1 engine, the likes of which was raced by the likes of Niki Lauda and Alain Prost.
From the outside, the car looks completely stock, other than what appears to be a set of RUF alloy wheels. But pop the boot and you’ll find two huge intercoolers smuggled under the sports car’s distinctive ‘whale tail’ spoiler and a 1.5L TAG TTE PO1 turbo V6.
WATCH this bonkers McLaren-powered Porsche below.
You’re probably wondering why this car exists – and why McLaren has it in their archive. Well, this outlandish machine was used as a test mule by McLaren when the team ran TAG-branded, Porsche-built engines in the 80s.
In the early 1980s, Formula 1 saw a paradigm shift where many teams including Brabham and Ferrari started using smaller 1.5L turbocharged engines instead of the large 3.0L naturally aspirated engines that had dominated the sport for the last three decades.
RELATED: Australian Builds Classic Porsche Powered By An Aeroplane Engine
McLaren CEO Ron Dennis, who had just joined the ailing team, wanted a turbocharged powertrain too – so he did a deal with French-Saudi businessman Mansour Ojjeh and his company Techniques d’Avant Garde (TAG) to fund Porsche-built, TAG-branded turbo engines designed by legendary designer John Barnard.
These engines proved to be highly successful, winning 26 Grands Prix for McLaren in the hands of Lauda, Prost and Keke Rosberg.
Now, this car in McLaren’s collection is a one-off… But recently, a third party firm has developed their own ‘930 TAG Turbos’, meaning you can buy one for yourself (if you have a seriously fat wallet, that is).

Lanzante Motorsport, a British firm that specializes in racing, servicing and restoring classic cars – who also built the P1 and Senna GTR road car conversions for McLaren – is producing 11 more of these mental machines, all of which will be completely road-legal to boot.
As Opumo Magazine explains, Lanzante originally wanted to buy the original test mule, but McLaren refused to sell. Instead, current boss Zak Brown did agree to part with 11 TAG engines, which Lanzante are marrying up to a bunch of 930s.
There’s one catch, though: these cars won’t be as fast as an F1 car, or even the original Porsche/McLaren test mule. The TAG engines made well over 1,000hp in McLaren’s F1 cars back in the day (it’s unclear how much power the test mule makes) but Lanzante have detuned the engines to around 500hp.
Still, when you consider that’s about twice as much power as a stock 930 powertrain puts out – as well as the fact that having a classic Porsche with a classic F1 engine in it is the epitome of cool – we feel that’s not a dealbreaker.

Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery was probably the most stylish film of 2022 – but one of the most stylish things some moviegoers might have missed is the exceptionally cool watch Dave Bautista’s character was wearing.
Rian Johnson is an exceptional director but we reckon it’s the costume designers on Glass Onion that deserve an extra round of applause. The attention to detail they took outfitting each of the murder mystery’s outlandish characters is second to none. Spoilers ahead.
Take Bautista’s character Duke Cody, an Andrew Tate-esque social media personality. He steals just about every scene he’s in thanks to his outlandish Versace-inspired wardrobe and Bautista’s insane bulk… Well, until he meets his untimely demise, ingloriously choking to death on a drink about halfway through the film.
We’re not sure we’d be caught dead in that many patterned silk shirts, but Bautista’s Panerai Submersible Goldtech OroCarbo (ref. PAM01070)? That’s another story. In fact, we’d be tempted to murder for one…

The Submersible Goldtech OroCarbo, as the name implies, features a Goldtech case – a unique alloy of gold, copper, and platinum that boasts a lustrous bronze-like red hue while being resistant to any oxidisation and corrosion when exposed to sweat or seawater. Very handy for a dive watch.
Furthermore, the watch’s bezel is crafted from a combination of Goldtech and Carbotech, yet another proprietary Panerai material made from compressed carbon fibre combined with a high-tech, lightweight polymer. Essentially, it’s the perfect watch for a Grecian summer holiday, especially if you want to show off a little.
Watch our guide to the best watches action movies stars have ever worn on the big screen below.
Funnily enough, Dave Bautista isn’t the only former professional wrestler-turned-actor who owns one of these luxurious watches (and yes, we’re pretty sure he actually owns the watch – he’s been seen wearing it on the red carpet, too). Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, a noted watch collector, also owns one.
Bautista’s Panerai isn’t the only cool watch in the film either: Daniel Craig’s character, private investigator and protagonist (and most stylish gent in the film) Benoit Blanc is also seen wearing a nifty vintage OMEGA Seamaster.

It seems Sir Lewis Hamilton is spending the F1 off-season nursing his passion for filmmaking, with the seven-time Formula 1 World Champion sharing a candid moment on social media yesterday.
The F1 off-season is a torturously long time for both drivers and fans alike, but Hamilton’s keeping busy, posting on Instagram about reading scripts (with the help of a gassy family pet).
“There I was, sat innocently reading a script when Oscar farts directly in my face. I moved, he followed. Sat like this the rest of the night,” the star captioned his photo of him covering up his nose, laptop on his chest. It’s a bit TMI but it’s also a cute human moment the likes of which we don’t often see from Hamilton… As well as a rather revealing one.
Late last year, Hamilton shared that he’s set up his own film and TV production company, Dawn Apollo Films, and that he already has two projects in the pipeline. Since then, speculation that Hamilton’s planning a career change to filmmaking has reached a fever pitch – and this small social media moment only fans those flames.
Looking to trade the F1 podium for the Oscars podium, Lewis?

Hamilton’s Dawn Apollo Films will produce the much-anticipated Formula 1 movie, an Apple production that is slated to star Brad Pitt and be directed by Top Gun: Maverick director Joe Kosinski. Hamilton has also confirmed his company is developing a feature documentary focusing on his own glittering career, both on and off the track.
You might be surprised but Hamilton’s actually no stranger to filmmaking. He’s actually produced two films in support of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF); one in 2012 about street children in the Philippines and one in 2014 about child malnutrition in Haiti. Both films helped raise over £10 million for UNICEF.
Hamilton has also made guest appearances in the Disney/Pixar Cars films and was credited as an executive producer on the controversial vegan documentary The Game Changers alongside tennis champ Novak Djokovic and NBA star Chris Paul.
Check out the watches F1 drivers wear during their down time below.
We also missed out on seeing Hamilton on the big screen last year. Lewis revealed that his mate Tom Cruise offered him a role as a fighter pilot in Top Gun: Maverick, but was forced to decline the offer due to it clashing with the 2021 F1 season. Talk about a need for speed…

Sam Wood, founder of 28 by Sam Wood, merged with genetics group myDNA in a $71 million deal. But it’s not his exercise science degree that he credits with his success, it’s the 58,000 one-on-one personal training appointments he’s done over a 16-year career, that showed him what people want and need to get themselves fit. Here, Sam Wood himself explains how he used what he learnt as a trainer to build his business 28 by Sam Wood.
I often get asked if my personal training background has helped my online 28 by Sam Wood program. I understand where the question comes from as people are curious as to whether or not the face-to-face element of training someone translates into the digital world, and the answer is yes. 28 by Sam Wood would not have succeeded without all of the years of experience training people.
After a quick calculation, I’ve done over 58,000 1:1 personal training appointments over a sixteen-year career. And while I went to university and got an exercise science degree, it was the hands-on experience of dealing with such a variety of clients that showed me what people want, and need, to help get themselves in shape and keep themselves in shape.

It’s interesting because I look at the personal training industry and it’s easy to see those who are successful and those who aren’t. The ones that aren’t successful typically don’t have a good work ethic and only care about their clients for the 30-45 minutes they are training them and tend to forget about them outside of that window. There is no level of care or accountability outside of that 1.5-2 hours a week. The great trainers care about what their clients are doing throughout the week – from a nutrition, recovery, and extra workout perspective, through to incidental exercise and mindset and motivation. If you can connect with people on a personal level you will have success.
If you put your mind in the right place your body will follow. This is the first thing I learnt as a personal trainer and have never forgotten. And if you can translate that across into a fitness app by being a personal trainer in someone’s pocket with constant reminders, support, motivation and education, that’s where you differentiate yourself, and it’s where the success and growth of 28 came from.

People very quickly worked out that there were great workouts, great eating plans and mindfulness content but it was the way that it was customized and tailored for their busy lives that helped. By being always available when they need it most through the 28 by Sam Wood app, it makes it so easy and effective to stay on track.
I absolutely think the reason for 28 by Sam Wood’s success was that people understood this was what I’d been doing for 16 years (now 23 years since the inception of 28) and it’s what I know and am passionate about – providing a place they can come to and trust.
To answer this question, it has shaped it in every single way – every part of the program is a consequence of all of these learnings across my career.
Words by Sam Wood.

Securing yourself a pair of stylish, comfortable and top-performing golf pants is essential when out of the course.
In fact, other than making sure you’ve got a killer set of golf clubs, a pair of golf pants is perhaps the greatest essential for any golfer worth their salt. Many golf courses instil a strict dress code you need to adhere to before you even think about teeing off, so you need to make sure you’re buying your golf pants from reputable places.
You wouldn’t want to wear your regular chinos to the golf course – and you’ll more than likely be prevented from playing at all in jeans – so only a pair of dedicated golf pants will suffice.
Men’s golf pants are designed to not only offer protection, but performance too You’ll want to look out for pairs that offer four-way stretch, as these will provide the very best in free movement, allowing you to swing through as comfortably as possible to make that 200-yard drive.

John Daly, the American golfer who is known as much for his off-the-course antics as he is for his remarkable talent on the fairway, has popped the Internet’s cork with a hilarious video where he shares “hangover advice 101.”
John Daly is a legend. The 56-year-old is called Long John for a reason. The PGA Tour player is not only famous for his massive drives but also his f*ck-your-country-club ~vibe~. He also has a hectic backswing, and some exceptional event wins under his belt.
But if you think his two greatest feats are his victory in the 1991 PGA Championship or his playoff victory over Costantino Rocca in the 1995 Open Championship, think again: Daly is also, it turns out, a paragon of health and wellness wisdom.
WATCH: John Daly gives ‘hangover 101’ advice
How so? Well, a video that has warped encephala all over Instagram shows Daly giving some hilarious hangover advice. While trundling along in a buggy, speaking to the camera, after being asked “What’s the best way to nurse a hangover?”, Daly says: “Drink the same shit you drank the night before.”
He then explained that he didn’t have access to a certain brand of vodka which he calls the best, but that he has settled in this instance for an inferior alternative. These remarks inspired comments like: “JD’s Lungs and Liver must be the most hard-working organs in human history” and “JD is my lord and savior.”
Another wrote: “Playing golf barefoot, ripping cowboy killers, and cranking Larry Fleet. A man of the people.” Yet another quipped: “We’ve been lied to. McDonald’s, cig’s and beer: 3 basic food groups.”
Not everyone was impressed though. Some Instagram users slammed Daly for glorifying alcohol. One wrote: “He is not funny or cool. Guy is a one-of-a-kind and a legend but also glamorizes alcoholism.”
There you have it. Food (or rather, drink) for thought. Put that on your green and swing it.
