Standard Condom Sizes Are Going Smaller To Suit The Average Penis
Standard Condom Sizes Are Going Smaller To Suit The Average Penis

The days of ill-fitting condoms are about to come to an end and it’s not your undersized penis’ fault.

Condoms: Balloon or contraceptive

Men who engage in safe sex have long expressed their discomfort and sub-par levels of sensation when it comes to wearing a condom and now the experts know exactly why – the standard condom size has been set too big for the average penis.

A recent American study discovered that the average man’s erect penis stands at approximately 14cm long, a whole 3cm shorter than the standard condom benchmark that warrants a 17cm long shaft.

“The idea was it had to be long enough to fit most men, and excess length could just be rolled,” explained Debby Herbenick, a sexual health expert at Indiana University who spoke to the New York Times on the findings.

” A further study found that 15,000 penises from across the globe had an average erection length of 13.12cm”

The study which consisted of 1,661 men from the United States discovered that 83 percent of the subjects boasted shorter penile lengths than the standard condoms. A further study which looked beyond the States at 15,000 penises from across the globe found that the average erect length is 13.12cm – even smaller than that of the most recent findings.

The surprising findings have already caused some to stand up and call for changes with custom-fit condom company myOne rallying against the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) to change the mandate on how long the average condom should be.

“If they bought a small condom before and it was still too big, it’s horrible for men to have that experience,” said Global Protection Corp. president and owners of myOne, Davin Wedel. On the local front, an Australian study aptly named Errors and Predictors of Confidence in Condom Use Amongst Young Australians Attending a Music Festival, discovered that 48 percent of patrons between 18 and 29 had a condom slip off during intercourse in the past year whilst 51 percent had a condom slip off when retracting the penis.

If you’re a fan of numbers and love to see how you stack up, it’ll be handy to know that standard condoms usually come in sizes of 17cm to 21.1cm long and 9.9cm to 11.43cm in circumference.

Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba & Jared Leto Are This Week's Best Dressed Men

It’s time to gear up for another round of the week’s best dressed men.

A decent mix of street and formal wear makes it into today’s edition thanks to the red carpet circuit boasting celebrity men in suits whilst interviews and spottings had the rest in their finest casual wear.

First up we need to talk about Tom Hiddleston, the one time Tay Tay handbag who’s now doing a mighty fine job on his own and in bold check during the Thor premiere.

Joining him in the suiting game is also Idris Elba still killing it in an effortless black tie-white shirt combo. Then we have rising young actor Miles Teller who embraces the black suit whilst giving it a bit of a pop with his tie which conveniently matches the red carpet.

Moving along it’s all about today’s style maestro, Jared Leto who went the full Gucci, Jason Derulo sporting a more contemporary street look and Justin Theroux showing how black is pulled off in 2017.

Keith Richards Lists Rockin' NYC Penthouse For $12 Million
Keith Richards Lists Rockin' NYC Penthouse For $12 Million

Rock legend Keith Richards is ready to move on from his penthouse pad in New York City‘s Greenwich Village. Along with his wife, Patti Hansen, the legendary Rolling Stones guitarist has listed the property for just under US$12 million.

The three-unit combo is located in a full service, pre-war co-op building built in 1929 that was once a luxury hotel. Fully renovated in 2011, the property contains three bedrooms, four bathrooms, and a 47-foot-long living, dining and entertainment space. Three private terraces offer space for al fresco entertaining and expansive views of Greenwich Village, Washington Square Park, and the Manhattan skyline.

At one end of the living room is a dining area, a breakfast counter, and a sun-filled kitchen with a walk in pantry and modern fittings. At the other end is a home office or flexible 4th bedroom with an en-suite bathroom that can be fully separated from the rest of the floor by a large sliding wall that is completely concealed when not in use. Every square foot of the apartment is similarly designed to maximise storage and function.

The rockstar-worthy master suite boasts two spacious walk-in closets perfect for showcasing your extensive scarf collection, and a spa-like master bathroom complete with glass-enclosed steam shower, soaking tub, and double vanity sink.

Additional highlights of the Joe Serrins-designed property include a staircase with a leather-wrapped bronze handrail, a full-size laundry room, automatic blinds on every window, a fully integrated Sonos sound system, and a secondary entrance for your manservant and other house staff.

Richards purchased the penthouse in 2014 for $10.5 million, and first listed the property two years later for $12.23 million. But you can’t always get what you want, and even with his star power backing the listing, the property failed to sell. It was delisted later that year before returning with a price chop and a brokerage change.

Richard is now asking $11.995 million for the duplex.

How To Choose Furniture That's Insanely Easy To Clean
How To Choose Furniture That's Insanely Easy To Clean

Stains, stains go away, come again another day. Or better yet, come again never.

With cricket season just around the corner and the World Cup less than a year away we’re gearing up to spend a lot of time on the couch with our feet up, a drink in one hand and the remote in the other. To help maximise your viewing and relaxation time, check out our top tips for choosing furniture that’s easy to clean.

The amount of time you’ll need to dedicate to cleaning each piece of furniture in your home will come down to finishes, upholstery and building materials. Let’s get into it. But first thing’s first…

Upholstery: ‘Durable’ and ‘stain-resistant’ are the buzz words we’re looking for when picking the perfect upholstery.

Leather

The king of clean

Leather is king because it’s easy to wipe clean and will withstand most stains. However, this stain-resistance isn’t always the case with white, cream or ivory-hued leather. Ideal for fella’s with kids or messy mates, we love charcoal, black and chocolate coloured hides.

As well as being easy to clean, a leather upholstered piece of furniture will last a lifetime if cared for correctly. In fact, most leather – i.e a leather couch – becomes softer and more comfortable with age and use, so take care and you’ll never have to buy a couch again.

Vinyl

No longer a dirty word

Vinyl used to be a dirty word, but these days, faux leather, as it prefers to be known, is making a comeback, and it’s a whole lot different to the daggy, plastic-looking nightmares that loiter in our childhood memories.

As well as imitating leather, vinyl upholstery can now impersonate different fabrics and textures, and of course, vinyl is super-simple to clean. A quick wipe down is all it needs to get it looking its best.

Fabric

The practical choice

If you prefer the feel of fabric to leather, select contract-grade fabric that has received stain-repellent treatment. Velvet is also on the cards, which is lucky, because velvet seems to be the hottest interior design trend in recent years.

With the right treatment, liquid will run right off the fabric and stains will find it almost impossible to stick. We suggest bypassing fragile fabrics like wool and silk.

Microfiber

Age with perfection

Microfiber is a synthetic fabric that boasts longevity and low maintenance. Like leather, microfiber ages better than most upholstery options, but is a much cheaper alternative. Plus, it has the added advantage of being claw-resistant. Even the sharpest cat claws will struggle to puncture or get caught in microfiber because of the material’s lack of loops found in traditionally weaved fabrics. Stains are no match for microfiber’s magic, and cleaning is as painless as blotting with a damp towel and a touch of soapy water.

Casters

Roll on the clean side

It isn’t just furniture that needs cleaning; the floor space surrounding any given piece also needs to be tended to. Put dining tables, coffee tables, or any big heavy items on wheels and watch your cleaning time reduce significantly. This option allows for easy cleaning in those usually awkward spaces underneath the table and in between table legs. Buy lockable casters to avoid runaway tables.

Colour

Once you go black…

Leaders from the Bureau of Obvious Shit tell us that lighter coloured furniture is harder to clean. So, for the guy who wants his pad looking schmick at all times, turn up your nose to white furniture because the cleaning will never stop. Even the shadow of a spec of dust will show up, so do yourself a favour and enter the dark side.

Wood

Varnished items are the easiest to deal with

Any wooden piece of furniture with a lacquered finish will require special cleaning. Unsealed or light stained wood have masculine appeal but are not easy to clean. A damp dust with a microfiber towel (dusting in the direction of the grain) is all you can do in this case.

Varnished items can be cleaned with soapy water and a sponge, but care needs to be taken to stop the varnish absorbing too much liquid. Wax finishes require similar care, but demand soap flakes in water rather than detergent (which will dull the wax) for a lustrous finish.

Whatever finish you end up with, resist the urge to use spray polishes. They might be quick and easy and smell great, but your wood will suffer in the long run.

A Professional’s Tip…

Go without head in bed

In the bedroom, forgo a bed head. Always remember that the fewer flat surfaces you have, the less cleaning you’ll need to do.

Therefore, it’s in a wise guy’s best interests to skip those convoluted bedroom packages that come with a frame and a bed head and other bits and bobs. Go frameless and headless and all you’ll have to worry about is cleaning the sheets every now and then.

Nissan Built A Real Life Remote Control Car With A Driverless GT-R
Nissan Built A Real Life Remote Control Car With A Driverless GT-R

Nissan is synonymous with embracing technology to make their cars faster but their latest effort is definitely one to impress – especially if you’re a big kid at heart.

Picture your favourite remote controlled car from back in the day. Now picture it in a full one-to-one scale as a real supercar and you have the Nissan GT-R/C, a working 542hp GT-R hooked up to a PlayStation DualShock 4 controller. The driver? You, only you’re not in the car.

GT-R/C is produced in association with GT Academy, the driving school by Gran Turismo, and Nissan in order to bring video game players into the real world of racing.

For this particular chapter GT Academy graduate Jann Mardenborough took hold of the PlayStation controller from a helicopter to drive the car on a track. Thankfully, he didn’t put it into a wall like one would usually with a toy car.

All up Mardenborough was able to muster a lap time of 1:17.47 whilst reaching an average speed of 122km/h and a top speed of 210km/h. If you’ve ever played Mario Kart, you’d know that’s pretty impressive.

Speaking of driving a supercar with a game controller, Mardenborough said that it was surprisingly easy.

“The response from the car when using the controller was far more engaging than I thought it would be. JLB Design has done an incredible job at making everything respond really well,” he said.

“Steering, acceleration, and braking were all intelligently configured, allowing for controlled application so I could really get a feel through the corners and hold it steady down the fast straights.”

In total there were six computers mounted into the GT-R/C which linked communications between the car and computer at 100 times/second.

Check out the video below which shows off the cool concept designed to celebrate twenty years of Nissan’s involvement with the Gran Turismo franchise.

Gucci Has Officially Banned Fur From Its Collections
Gucci Has Officially Banned Fur From Its Collections

Gucci has officially ruled out fur from all of its future collections. The move comes as part of the Italian luxury brand’s allegiance with the Fur Free Alliance which will see the controversial material disappear from its garments starting from its Spring/Summer 2018 portfolio.

Fur no more

Chief executive and president of Gucci Marco Bizzarri told BoF that it made the decision to reinforce the company’s stance on exploiting and killing animals for fur as well as establishing a wider sustainability plan.

“Do you think using furs today is still modern? I don’t think it’s still modern and that’s the reason why we decided not to do that. It’s a little bit out-dated,” Bizzarri told BoF.

“Creativity can jump in many different directions instead of using furs.”

The surprising announcement means that Gucci will now join brands like Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger and Armani who have all put a stop to using fur in their garments. Gucci itself is synonymous with using fur in its signature loafers but Bizzarri thinks that this ban won’t impact the business too much. Fur products are worth roughly €10 million to the brand annually and Bizzarri says that materials like faux-fur, wool and new fabric innovations should be able to compensate for this.

Additionally, the ban could even grow Gucci’s younger consumer base with millennials who are now more ethically-sound than ever, according to research from Deloitte. Gucci has seen a resurgence in recent times with millennials making up more than half of its consumers today – a 40 percent jump in the past two years. Holistically, this will also feed into attracting the right talent to building the brand’s future.

“I need to do it because [otherwise] the best talent will not come to work for Gucci,” Bizzarri added.

The decision was finalised with the help of Gucci’s creative director Alessandro Michele who Bizzarri additionally praised.

“Fashion has always been about trends and emotions and anticipating the wishes and desires of consumers. [The best creative directors] are able to anticipate, to smell something outside before anybody else. Fashion and modernity go together.”

Would You Drop $1 Million On The World's Most Expensive Weeklong Holiday?

Luxury beachfront accommodation? Check. Private jets and helicopters? Check. Gourmet dining? Check. Custom cigars, a Hollywood videographer, and a literal treasure hunt? Check, check, and check.

The experience? Far from priceless.

One-percenters dream website VeryFirstTo.com is behind this ultra-exclusive holiday on Calala Island, a seven-day vacay that will set you back a mind-boggling US$1 million. Though the one-week break may well be the world’s most expensive holiday package, that hefty price tag comes with some truly extraordinary perks that guarantee a once-in-a-lifetime getaway.

Calala Island is a remote, private island resort nestled in a largely-unexplored part of the Caribbean off the coast of Nicaragua. The experience begins with a flight on an Embraer Legacy private jet from any US city to Nicaragua. Upon landing, guests are whisked off to the paradise island in two Bell helicopters. Once the guests have been safely delivered and are settled into Calala’s four luxurious villas, a no-fly zone is established around the island to ensure maximum, celeb-level privacy.

And that’s just the beginning of this utterly absurd escape.

During their weeklong stay, guests will experience a dizzying array of adventures and indulgences. A minimum of 25 staff are on hand at all times to address every imaginable request. Scuba dives around untouched reefs, motorised watersports, and a private fireworks display provide entertainment. For the sophisticated smoker, a world-class cigar maker will be flown in to create a custom blend and 20 limited edition boxes of bespoke smokes.

Naturally, food is a focus of this opulent holiday. Culinary experiences include a 12-course gala dinner, a caviar tasting, a cooking master class, and a sushi meal that sees guests catch their own fish and watch it prepared immediately onboard the boat by the island’s sushi chef. Unlimited fine wines and Dom Perignon champagne is available throughout the trip.

In honour of Calala’s history as a pirate island, guests will embark on a specially curated treasure hunt. The stakes are high and very real: if you successfully follow the antique maps and clues, you’ll discover a hidden treasure chest containing real gold bars and coins worth $150,000.

Last but not least, the package includes a videographer to capture the memorable moments and present a fully edited video and bound photo book at the end of the stay, and $100,000 of the $1M fee will be donated towards building a school for underprivileged children on the mainland. The lead guest will be invited to meet with the Nicaraguan president and mayor of the region to unveil the new school, which will bear his or her name for generations to come.

VeryFirstTo’s Calala Island extravaganza is available for up to 10 guests at a time, so gather your mates with royal tastes and start pooling your assets. You can book here when you’ve taken out second mortgages and pawned all your worldly possessions.

Sam Wood Proves You Shouldn't Believe Everything You See On Instagram
Sam Wood Proves You Shouldn't Believe Everything You See On Instagram

Like it or not, we live in a world now where people can earn a living by being healthy and taking photos of themselves living in a said healthy way.

Here is a regram from my @28bysamwood insta page from last week. On my program we are about progress NOT perfection and to help real people you have to keep it real: This is 2 photos of me taken 5 seconds apart! Don’t get caught up in what other people look like. Photos you see on instagram and other social platforms are not a real representation of what people look like. Lighting, posture, a different angle and every other trick in the book are used. If it inspires then it can be a good thing. If it creates an unrealistic comparison or body of desire that effects your feeling of self then it is unhealthy. Be aware of others but not fixated. Spend that time and energy progressing every day and work on being the healthy, happy, best version of YOU! #28bysamwood #forhumanpeople

A post shared by Sam Wood (@samjameswood) on

Whether or not those people actually lead healthy lifestyles outside of what they post on social media seems to be irrelevant – some of them could be constantly fuelled by a mixture of human growth hormones, antidepressants and cocaine for all we know – but as long as they have the right look and a peppy-enough persona in front of a camera, for better or for worse they’re going to make a living.

Of course, we’d never bash anyone encouraging people to become the best version of themselves. That’s what we aim to do here.

But all the same, there’s often a thick layer of bollocks behind the heavily filtered facades, and it’s worth keeping an eye out.

The Word #Balance Is Thrown Around Way Too Much

Let us preface this by saying balance is a fundamentally good thing to have in any lifestyle and you should treat yourself and learn when to let go. It’s simply key to your mental health.

The problem is that all that sentiment loses a great deal of its value when it’s being said by a fitness blogger who’s clearly sacrificed more time, energy and sweat to get to their level of fitness then their followers are ever likely to.

“Balance should be to move in some way every day”

“If your clients are living in the real world then you need to too,” says Sam Wood, Australian fitness guru and founder of the incredibly successful 28 by Sam Wood program.

“Balance should be to move in some way every day; it’s about real food and making good choices (most of the time) and not depriving yourself of things you love as that will not be sustainable.”

Balance is great, but if you want to get to their level, balance often needs redefining.

People Literally Instagram For A Living

Most people can poke holes in how the typical social media lifestyle is played out these days.

It’s not hard to tell when social media celebrities are blurring the lines between where their social media life ends and where real life begins.

“If the only person you have ever trained is you, you simply don’t get it”

Nonetheless, when you find a personality that resonates with you, it’s easy to forget that many of these people are being paid to do what they portray themselves as doing every day, either through selling products, getting ad value or playing a simple prank.

This frees up a whole bunch of time for them to achieve levels of fitness and nutrition that aren’t practical or realistic for any career-driven person who has hopes of also maintaining a healthy social life.

“I always say that if the only person you have ever trained is you, you simply don’t get it,” says Wood.

“As a trainer for 17 years I have trained hundreds of clients, all shapes, sizes, goals, genetics, personalities and attitudes through tens of thousands of sessions. Through this experience I have learnt to adapt and modify to find what really works for most people.”

People Will Plug Anything If It’s Free

We’re not saying that fitness bloggers fundamentally lack integrity, but in today’s marketing climate where likes, shares and comments are treated like gold dust, an awful lot of pseudoscience gets thrown around.

Especially by people who are simply too caught up in their own influencer status to think about whether their plugging is actually helpful for their followers in any way.

Anyone can spin their own bullshit about how well a certain all-natural powder helps their immunity, stomach, skin and hair literally all at once, but a quick glance at a medical journal can often save you a lot of time and a lot of money.

Wood chooses to take these endorsements with a grain of salt “unless they truly align with their bigger picture philosophies and beliefs – and they come with a credible source”.

Everything Is Sucked, Tucked & Angled To Distort Reality

We all live in a constant fight against our own bodies. Perhaps you keep a sneaky bottle of concealer in your medicine cabinet, or it’s become muscle memory to always keep that gut sucked in as you go about your daily life.

“I have shared some rather unflattering pics of myself to show my clients and followers the tricks used”

You’d never think that about fitness bloggers, but short of a few good, honest folks who value progress above perfection, many are leading people to believe that fitness goals aren’t worth having unless you’re striving to qualify for the next Olympia.

Keep in mind that anyone who’s getting paid to run a fitness Instagram has had hours of practicing and perfecting the art of getting their body looking the best on your phone screen.

Woods’ motto is “Progress not Perfection”.

“I have shared some rather unflattering pics of myself to show my clients and followers the tricks used and the response has been incredible – people want the truth.”

You Only Ever See The End Product

The biggest issue with how social media presents the ideal lifestyle to impressionable people lies in how it dictates a way of life.

It doesn’t matter whether it’s a personal trainer with his eight pack bulging around Bondi’s outdoor gym, or you see someone who seems like your average joe doing core work that should be way out of their league.

“A place that is relatable is something people want to read and see”

People might stress how much work it’s taken to get to that point, but you never see the failed reps, you never see the pain and you never see the suffering.

This might not always be the case though, says Wood.

“I feel there is a shift here. Will it always be the majority case? Probably, but I and some others see that Instagram is to tell story and a true story that traces right back to perhaps when things weren’t so great ( a place that is relatable) is something people want to read and see.”

Expert Warns Early Hair Loss In Men Could Be Caused By Vegan Diet
Expert Warns Early Hair Loss In Men Could Be Caused By Vegan Diet

Bad news, vegetable lovers. There’s new suggestions from an expert who believes that accelerated hair loss in men could be the result of a vegan or vegetarian diet.

It’s a massive call to make but Dr Hilary Jones, a British GP and popular media figure on medical issues, believes that it comes down to meat containing iron which is crucial in aiding hair growth.

The meats that provide high levels of nutrients required for healthy hair growth includes red meat, pork and poultry – all of which are rich in iron. Without this mineral in the body the onset of hair loss can become more prevalent.

“There are lots of factors causing hair loss in men,” Dr Hilary Jones told Express.

“It could be genetic, due to skin conditions like psoriasis and eczema, a thyroid issue but also because of nutritional deficiencies. Iron deficiency is a factor in hair loss since it’s necessary for hair growth.”

“With a lot of people shunning meat – possibly due to vegan and vegetarian diets – it is possible people are missing out on the nutrient. It is possible to consume enough iron on such diets, but it’s more difficult and easy to not get enough.”

RELATED: Most Effective Ways Men Can Fight Hair Loss

Iron rich foods which don’t come from animals include spinach, beans and dried fruit. Dr. Jones added that finasteride oral supplements can also help with men experiencing hair loss since it regulates the production of dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a hormone which can damage hair follicles.

With vegan and vegetarian diets embraced the world over for their health benefits alongside major endorsements by celebrities like Jared Leto, it’s going to be a hard ask to see which one men prioritise more – their food or their hair.

Think it’s an easy debate? Think again.

Research from Asda Pharmacy found that 38 percent of men under 35 felt that their hair loss made them feel depressed whilst 26 percent admitted that their hair loss made them more open to drinking and taking drugs.
