Male Nose Jobs: Everything You Need To Know
Male Nose Jobs: Everything You Need To Know

The Zoom revolution has sparked a rush of rhinoplasty in men… So should you stop turning up your nose at nose jobs?

Batten down the hatches and clean your laptop camera: the Zoom Revolution is well and truly here and you’re going to want to look your best for it. That’s what the latest data on male nose jobs seems to suggest.

According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, cosmetic procedures are booming. And it’s not just butt lifts that are bulging (this procedure is up 112% compared to how many times it was done in the year 2000). Nose jobs are becoming more popular too, and not just because of the pandemic.

As Stacey Chirnside and Chloe Walker, Co-Founders of Pirk, (a personal concierge service for plastic surgery and cosmetic procedures), recently told DMARGE, rhinoplasty has been less on the nose for a while now – especially for men. So much so that Pirk was created to help consumers find trustworthy and qualified plastic surgeons to meet their cosmetic needs.

“We’ve been working really closely with qualified plastic surgeons over the last 6 months to create a model that’s there for guys who are looking to get surgery done and are unsure of where to go,” Ms Walker told DMARGE.

Pirk helps you find “who to talk to, what questions to ask when you go for a consultation and who is the right surgeon – because there is a fair bit of difference between cosmetic and plastic surgeons.”

“We’ve created a business that is a safe space for people to come to.”

Stacey and Chloe

Chloe added: “We only work with specific doctors we have vetted through understanding how long they’ve been in the industry, what their qualifications are and also through recommendations (through our contacts in the industry).”

“[Plastic surgeons] are recognised by the Australian plastic surgery association and a lot of the hype that has been happening in 60 minutes and on TV and on ABC at the moment… the focus that has come from the industry is on whether we should be enabling elective surgery with surgeons that don’t have the qualifications.”

“We stand pretty strong on the fact that plastic surgeons should be the ones doing any kind of reconstructive surgery – they are the ones who have the training and who have the skill set to be able to do that,” Chloe said.

Stacey added: “There are actually different types of rhinoplasties. There are different reasons people have them and different techniques.”

“Rhinoplasty can be medical or it can be cosmetic. I think there are a lot of people who get it done for breathing cavities – some get cosmetic enhancement done at the same time. Some also do the fully elective surgery.”

“More of the market is with women but there’s definitely a big market with men that are getting this procedure as well. It’s really interesting because looking at the stats, Australia tends to follow America.”

“I think we’re going to see a shift in the next couple of years as it becomes more readily available and ok with people to go get something done to make themselves feel better – it’s not as touchy a subject as it used to be.”

Stacey Chirnside

“Feeling great and being confident is not just a thing for women, it’s definitely a thing men are starting to think about a lot more now.”

“100% yes; the stigma is decreasing.”

Stacey Chirnside

“People are very open to understanding what’s out there, what’s available, asking ‘what can I have?’ – they’re talking to their friends more about it.”

“It’s a dinner table conversation now. People aren’t embarrassed about talking about potentially wanting to get something done but people don’t know what’s available to them and what risks are involved.”

According to Stacey: “You’ve got to be very careful because lots of things can go wrong.”

Stacey told DMARGE: “It’s always been something that men don’t really talk about as much as women but now that it’s becoming more out there men are starting to get injectables and starting to look after themselves a lot more – they’re going into surgery now it’s something they feel like they’re accepted as well to be able to do it.”

As for advice everyone should read before they get a nose job, Stacey said: “Make sure you know who you’re getting your recommendations from; a lot of people will jump on a random FB group of people that they don’t know and ask for a recommendation.”

Image: Getty

“Someone will jump on and tell them based on their experience and someone will make a decision to go to that surgeon – but they haven’t considered that surgeon’s qualifications: who I’m talking to, what questions I should be asking, what I’m looking for, what outcome I want.”

“Arm yourself with the right questions. When you go in it’s pretty overwhelming. When a doctor says ‘Yeah we’re going to do this, this and this to your face’ you can sit there in a bit of shock. They’ll say ‘Do you have any questions’ and unless you’ve done your research it’s really hard to know what to ask.”

Stacey Chirnside

“Make sure you know who you’re going to and get a recommendation from people who are in the industry and make sure you’re really comfortable with what questions you are asking and that you know what outcome you want to achieve. Make sure you speak to your surgeon about that. Unless you speak up they’ll do it the way they want to without knowing.”

Superbike World Champion’s 3-Year-Old Rides Massive Motorbike On Track
Superbike World Champion’s 3-Year-Old Rides Massive Motorbike On Track

Most little boys don’t need much more than a tub of Lego and a plate of fish fingers to make ’em happy… But this Turkish 3-year-old is out and about being chauffeured in Ferraris and hooning motorbikes around private circuits for his playtime.

You only have to take a quick look at the Instagram of Zayn Sofuoğlu, son of five-time Supersport World Championship-winning motorcyclist Kenan Sofuoğlu, to know that he’s not your average toddler.

Why? Because every few days, it seems he’s partaking in some form of extreme sports: riding quad bikes, jetskis, go-karts and of course, motorbikes.

Just check out this video of him riding an electric BMW motorbike that’s roughly four times his size around a circuit. His feet can’t even touch the footrests and yet he’s hooning around at high speed. Or what about him catching some air in an ATV?

WATCH Zayn Sofuoğlu hooning on track below.

It’s equal parts fascinating, impressive and horrifying. Most of us could barely tie our shoelaces at 3, and yet Zayn’s out here burning rubber.

At the same time, the thought of what might happen if he came off a bike at speed doesn’t bare contemplating… It’s also kind of tactless how his parents are spoiling him like this for the sake of a bit of social media clout.

One Turkish Twitter user also put it like this: “if I do this to my son, the state will take him away from me.” Well, Kenan’s a politician too, so we doubt that’s something he’s worrying about…

Watch: 294 Metre Cruise Ship Does 3 Point Turn In Sydney Harbour
Watch: 294 Metre Cruise Ship Does 3 Point Turn In Sydney Harbour

A huge cruise ship has been spotted doing a 3 point turn in Sydney harbour, inspiring social media users to comment on how much the world has changed in the last 70 years.

If the thought of holding up traffic do do a 3 point turn on a busy Saturday morning fills you with foreboding, look away now. Why? A cruise ship, Queen Elizabeth, was recently sprung doing a sneaky (or as it turns out, incredibly obvious) 3 point turn in Sydney harbour.

Footage of the maneuver, posted to Twitter by James Whelan, shows the cruise ship clumsily turning around at the end of a beautiful summer’s day.

Whelan said: “Last night I watched the Queen Elizabeth do a three point turn in Sydney Harbour. Best harbour in the world.”

Another Twitter user wrote: “I went past her on the ferry last night – bit bigger than the ships my Dad used to Captain that’s for sure.” He then added: “It’s amazing 90,000 tonnes – Titanic was about 45,000 tonnes and a similar size to a ship my Dad Captain’d in WW2 as a young 20 something in the Merchant Navy running supply from New York to Southampton – oh my how the [world] has changed over 70 years.”

Queen Elizabeth was built in 2010, has 154 inside cabins, 892 outside cabins, fits 2,081 passengers, has 12 decks, 1,005 crew, 3 pools, a spa and a casino.

What it doesn’t have, is a tight turning circle.

Mark Wahlberg Has More Injuries Than An Entire Football Team
Mark Wahlberg Has More Injuries Than An Entire Football Team

Mark Wahlberg has more injuries than a battered and bruised football team. At least, that’s how it appears, according to a recent video Marky Mark posted to Instagram.

Mark Wahlberg has an astonishing list of injuries. But that hasn’t stopped him from conquering his inner laziness and working out like a champion. The Unchartered, Mile 22 and The Figher star recently posted a video of himself running through his list of injuries, while in the gym, to his Instagram account, showing his 20.3 million followers what it’s really like keeping in shape as a 51-year-old actor.

WATCH: Mark Wahlberg shows off all his injuries

“Alright I got an MRI yesterday I got a tear,” said Wahlberg, pointing at his elbow. “Doc what’s the diagnosis on the tear?”

“Alright, that’s good,” Wahlberg moves on without waiting for an answer. He then points to his left shoulder and then his right shoulder saying “I got a tear here, I got a tear here, I got a tear in the meniscus [pointing at his knee].”

The rant was far from over, however. Wahlberg then shared: “I got some herniated discs and shit but what do we do? Work through it! Work through it man. Mind over matter. Doc give them a diagnosis on the shoulder.”

His “doc” then said: “Small tear in the extensive tendon.”

Wahlberg appears to know how to train regardless, a few days later posting the following video showing him looking muscly as ever. In fact, it looks like even his muscles have muscles.

Trying Wahlberg’s routine is not for the faint-hearted, but if you want to give it a go, check out the following article.

Graphic Footage From Hawaiian Airlines Flight After Severe Turbulence Leaves Internet Shook
Graphic Footage From Hawaiian Airlines Flight After Severe Turbulence Leaves Internet Shook

Warning: the following article contains graphic footage some viewers may find distressing.

Graphic footage from the turbulent Hawaiian Airlines flight that made headlines earlier this week is now doing the rounds on Twitter.

WATCH: footage from Hawaiian Airlines flight with hectic turbulence

The footage shows the grim aftermath of the incident. The footage was posted by Twitter account @balleralert. The video first shows a bunch of playing cards on the floor. Then it shifts to a flight attendant sitting down, strapped into her seat, facing passengers, with gloves and a mask on, with blood trickling down her forehead.

The scene then cuts to the galley, where plastic glasses are strewn all over the floor. It then pivots to the passenger area were some oxygen masks are hanging from the ceiling and people are helping each other, visibly shocked.

At least 36 passengers were injured in the turbulence and 20 were hospitalised. The incident happened about 30 minutes before the Honolulu-bound flight was due to land.

US Safety Officials will be launching an investigation into the HA35 flight, which took off at Phoenix and landed in Honolulu.

There were thunderstorms in the area at the time of the turbulence, and Hawaiian Airlines will be conducting a thorough inspection of the aircraft before returning it to service.

Panerai’s Submersible QuarantaQuattro Is Taking Australians To Great New Depths
Panerai’s Submersible QuarantaQuattro Is Taking Australians To Great New Depths

The following article was produced in partnership with Panerai.

When it comes to diving, there are few better places in the world to do it than Australia. The Land Down Under has one of the longest coastlines in the world, and our fantastic weather, spectacular natural beauty and unique sealife are a treasure for divers.

We also have one of the best lifestyles in the world. Active, adventurous and cosmopolitan, life in Australia – especially coming into summer – is pretty close to heaven on Earth.

That’s why we horologically-inclined Aussies love tough, sporty watches: we need timepieces as versatile and robust as our lifestyle and culture. Maybe that’s why Australians love Panerai so much – it’s the perfect watch for the Australian lifestyle. And the new Submersible QuarantaQuattro is arguably the perfect Panerai.

Panerai Submersible QuarantaQuattro Carbotech™ Blu Abisso
(ref. PAM01232)
Panerai Submersible QuarantaQuattro Carbotech™ Blu Abisso
(ref. PAM01232)

Why is it so perfect for Australians? Well, let’s break it down. QuarantaQuattro is Italian for 44, and appropriately, the Submersible QuarantaQuattro features a case size of 44mm. That’s kind of the perfect case size for us Aussies: we tend to like bigger watches, but until now, the Submersible was only available in either 42mm (a bit small for many) or 47mm (way too big for most).

The QuarantaQuattro’s 44mm is a unique and versatile size that maintains the design code of the famous Italian brand while also making Submersibles a little less ostentatious and a bit more accessible to a wider audience.

Of course, the Submersible collection is home to Panerai’s most dedicated diving instruments. The Submersible’s unidirectional diving bezel, ultra-legible dial and locking crown mechanism mark it out as a distinctly ocean-focused timepiece. For a country that’s so inextricably tied to the ocean, we can’t think of a better Panerai.

The introduction of the Panerai Submersible QuarantaQuattro earlier this year also came hand in hand with some exciting new looks for the Submersible range. The new Submersible QuarantaQuattro collection is home to some of the best-looking dive watches in Panerai’s already handsome and extensive range.

Panerai Submersible QuarantaQuattro Bianco (ref. PAM01226)

The ‘standard’ (if it can be called such a thing) Panerai Submersible QuarantaQuattro combines a black dial with stainless steel hardware and interesting light blue highlights on key features such as the small seconds hand and dial lettering. It’s a subtle touch that lets other watch fans know it’s a QuarantaQuattro while providing a bit of visual flair.

The Submersible QuarantaQuattro is a real tool watch and as such, incorporates features designed to support even the most challenging of dives. For example, its unidirectional dive bezel has metallic appliques filled with white Super-LumiNova – an indispensable feature for a diving instrument.

The Submersible QuarantaQuattro’s locking crown mechanism – a signature of Panerai – boasts a lever-actuated lock integrated into the large semi-circular crown guard, which keeps the crown from rotating (and therefore compromising the watch’s water-resistance or superfluously changing the time).

Panerai Submersible QuarantaQuattro Bianco (ref. PAM01226)

If we’re speaking visual flair though, it’s hard to go past the Submersible QuarantaQuattro Bianco. As the name implies, this baby has a stark white dial with black highlights, including on the hands. There’s just something about a white dial Panerai that really pops…

The Bianco is also the perfect canvas for a bit of style experimentation: by default, it comes on a military green rubber strap, but Panerai’s got a veritable rainbow of strap options. It’s also arguably the dressiest Submersible QuarantaQuattro, meaning you can take it straight from the surf to a night out without any worries.

The Submersible QuarantaQuattro Carbotech™ Blu Abisso is another highlight of the collection. Rather than stainless steel, it’s constructed from Carbotech, a signature Panerai carbon fibre composite material that’s perfect for a tough tool watch and offers a real point of difference among dive watches.

Carbotech is Panerai’s lightest case material: 14% lighter than titanium and 36% lighter than steel, in fact. It’s highly resistant to corrosion and to scratching, too – it feels weightless on the wrist while possessing remarkable strength.

Panerai Submersible QuarantaQuattro Carbotech™ Blu Abisso (ref. PAM01232)

On top of that, it features Panerai’s stunning dark blue Blu Abisso tone for its dial and strap – a luxurious, limited colour reserved for special timepieces. It’s a stealthy yet techy timepiece for real aficionados.

All Panerai Submersible QuarantaQuattro watches are water-resistant to 300m (more than enough to dive with) and are powered by the P.900 calibre, which boasts an Incabloc anti-shock device and a 3-day power reserve. They all also feature a mix of green and blue Super-LumiNova for maximum legibility in low-light conditions.

In addition, all the new Submersible QuarantaQuattro timepieces centre Panerai’s commitment to encouraging environmentally-conscious practices. For example, the rubber straps available for the QuarantaQuattros are Panerai’s first rubber straps made from 30% recycled materials while their fabric straps are composed of 68% recycled fabric material. Aussies do love to recycle after all…

Meeting the local water dragons of Sydney.

Australia and Italy have long shared a lot in common. We’re both countries that value decent coffee and we’re both ridiculously passionate about sports, but more importantly, we’re both countries shaped by the ocean.

Perhaps that’s why an Italian watch like the Panerai Submersible QuarantaQuattro makes so much sense in Australia. Functional yet beautiful, luxurious yet unpretentious, and inextricably designed with the ocean in mind, it’s the perfect watch for Australian watch lovers.

Discover the Panerai Submersible QuarantaQuattro collection at 84 King Street in Sydney, and on panerai.com.

Passenger Throws Internet Into Tail Spin, Lights Cigarette Mid Flight
Passenger Throws Internet Into Tail Spin, Lights Cigarette Mid Flight

A passenger has sent the Internet loopy, with a video of them appearing to light up a cigarette on a flight making people very vicariously angry.

The audacity to light a cigarette on a flight is quite something. But it appears one nicotine-hungry passenger in the United States recently possessed that ‘something.’

Taking to their social media shaming page (where they feature “only the classiest” in air incidents of the day), Instagram account Humans of Spirit Airlines has provided us today with a real doozy. The video features a passenger doing the unthinkable: lighting up a durry on a flight. If you can’t believe someone would do that, check out the video below.

WATCH: passenger lights up a dart on a flight

Comments so far from outraged online entities include: ‘So we can bring any unhealthy habit if we pay for the extra seat?” and “The fuck.”

Humans of Spirit Airlines wrote: “He paid for the extra space too.”

Not everyone thought it was the end of the world, with one writing: “Ayo let me get a hit” and another exclaiming: “nothing to see here.”

There you have it. Just another wild old day in aviation. No wonder flight attendants are training to kick our butts.

Bromance Blossoms Between Olivier Giroud & Socceroo Jackson Irvine
Bromance Blossoms Between Olivier Giroud & Socceroo Jackson Irvine

Forget Morocco, Mbappe and Messi: Giroud and Jackson Irvine swapping grooming routines is what the World Cup is all about. According to a cheeky Twitter post by Socceroo Jackson Irvine, he and the French number 9 exchanged hair care routines “in perfect English” after Les Bleus defeated The Socceroos in their Group game match-up. And now fans are going wild as their ‘bromance’ blossoms, with some even calling for Irvine to join Giroud in Milan.

You might think World Cups are about incredible moments of sportsmanship, magnificent goals, or cross-cultural connection between fans.

RELATED: Heartwarming Moment ‘Qatar Royal’ Helps English Fan With His Headwear

You’d be wrong though. World Cup 2022 is all about French pretty boy (or should we say handsome man) Olivier Giroud proving the haters wrong (he’s certainly not past it, as I claimed a few weeks ago). And I’m not talking about his banging in goals like a man possessed. I’m talking about him having the generosity of spirit to have allegedly exchanged his hair care routine with one lucky Socceroo.

That Socceroo? Jackson Irvine. Irvine is another man known for his luscious locks (his are quite long though). Giroud on the other hand is known for his high fade – shaved on the sides and a little bit bleached on the top. Je ne sais pas, etc.

After another Socceroo, Jason Cummings, recently revealed that after the Socceroos’ game against France he got rejected by Giroud when trying to swap shirts, a Twitter exchange between the three of them has somehow worked itself around to Giroud and Irvine admitting to a little bit of bromance.

Let’s start from the beginning though. Cummings was turned down by Giroud when he asked him for his shirt, with the Central Coast Mariners player joking that Giroud pretended he couldn’t speak English to avoid him.

“After the France game, I actually tried to get Mbappe – forget about Giroud, I went for the top boy Mbappe – and he told me to meet him in the change rooms,” Cummings told The Project rather excitably.

“So I went to the changing room and the kit man was there and I gave him my top and 10 minutes later he came out with my jersey and says ‘Nah, absolutely not, he [Mbappe] doesn’t want to swap.’”

“So when I was walking back to my changing room and I’ve seen Giroud, as handsome as ever, and I asked him, ‘Giroud, please man, can I get your shirt mate? I’m a big fan, can I get your shirt?'”

“And he just walked past me, pretended he never spoke English and he’s been in the Premier League for 10 years!”

“He just walked right past me.”

Giroud took to Twitter to clarify the situation after the joke when viral, explaining that he can speak English, and that he had already promised his jersey to another Socceroo – Jackson Irvine.

Giroud said: “How’s my English?” tagging Irvine and posting a photo to confirm the two had exchanged shirts.

Irvine wrote: “What a man. I can confirm we exchanged our hair care routines in perfect English.”

Fans have called this exchange “peak football” and “the duo we never knew we needed.” Some even called for Irvine to join Giroud in Milan.

Another said: “What a partnership. The two top shaggers becoming best pals. You love to see it!”

A story for the ages. Peak World Cup vibes right there.
