Superyacht Captain Shares His Wildest High Sea Tales
Superyacht Captain Shares His Wildest High Sea Tales

Superyacht captain Brendan O’Shannassy shares with DMARGE the wildest experiences of his career. From celebrities to wildlife, it’s been an incredible job.

Superyachts are synonymous with excess. They’re known for models, hot tubs, champagne, expensive Monaco moorings, treadmills, zodiacs, helicopters – the list goes on.

But – unless you are part of the 1% – you probably can’t think of too many specific superyacht stories. This is either because the lifestyle isn’t as wild as you think, or because it’s so wild it gets covered up.

Well, fear not: we’re here today to bring you the inside scoop. Here are the wildest superyacht stories we were able to sleuth up. To kick things off, we spoke to Brendan O’Shannassy, a superyacht captain who recently wrote the book Superyacht Captain: Life & Leadership In The World’s Most Incredible Industry.

Brendan told DMARGE exclusively: “It is not the ‘crazy’ antics people might seek. The wildest things relate more to incredible experiences – diving with hundreds of Hammerheads in the Galapagos, swimming with Whale Sharks in The Maldives, and of course… taking Clint Eastwood + Mick Jagger from a function in one of the tenders.”

Brendan added: “I think some of the greatest privileges has been having relaxed and normal conversations with some of the most famous/powerful people in the world. To see that tech founder [such and such] is really just a devoted family person who loves the water and has a really silly side. To listen to a singer, after being pressured by their friends, bang out a tune – no backing/no production – and it be just incredible.”

“To see a world leader listen intently as a 22yr old deck crew member explains their safety obligations to use a Jet Ski.”

Superyacht Captain Brendan O’Shannassy

Brendan refused to be drawn on the wild stories he had heard of occurring on other superyachts (“we tend to keep our own counsel – we don’t share the stories between yachts”) but did reveal that “there is a pride in being witness to some truly unbelievable events – and not sharing their details.”

“I know this is not want people want to read, but ‘keeping the veil in place’ is something we are all very proud of.”

Superyacht Captain Brendan O’Shannassy

Brendan also told DMARGE that superyacht owners do not see the boundaries that we ’normal-folk’ do. They think differently.

“They probe and challenge all information for its authenticity…regardless of who is saying it,” he told us. “They may not be a subject matter expert, but their questions are disarming as they go from the ground-up…in our normal days we might accept something as fact without fully understanding from a builder, mechanic, even a doctor – the billionaires do not. They will keep going until all facts are clear.”

If that didn’t quench your thirst for gossip, here are another few wild superyacht stories from around the web.

Some billionaires are (accidentally) destroying priceless art with champagne and cereal. That’s right: according to Vox, though it’s not known exactly how, some rich people store priceless art on superyachts as a form of legal tax avoidance. This comes with some problems, however.

As reported by The Cut, a $110.5 million Basquiat (which was on a yacht) once had to be restored after a billionaire’s child destroyed it with cornflakes.

“His kids had thrown their cornflakes at it over breakfast on his yacht because they thought it was scary,” Pandora Mather-Lees, an Oxford-educated art historian and conservator told The Guardian.

“In another incident, a popped Champagne cork struck the canvas of an (unnamed) multi-million-dollar painting,” The Cut reports.

Don’t you hate it when that happens!

Moving on – there are more wild tales to be told. Enter: Marie Claire’s 2020 article: Inside The Sordid World Of Superyachts.

In this article, the author talks about the “golden handcuffs” of working on a superyacht, describing how many crew members are reluctant to speak until they leave the industry, for fear of becoming known as “difficult” to recruitment companies.

The ones who do talk, the author claims, “describe glamorous destinations and large, tax-free pay packets, mixed with long hours, social isolation, sexual harassment and depression.”

One story from that article is as follows:

“Recently, a ‘Mrs’ (shorthand for a boat owner’s wife) woke up on a superyacht in the Caribbean, far from habitation. She wanted 1000 white roses to adorn the craft. The crew arranged for the flowers to be helicoptered from Miami, then brought to the yacht in time for dinner” (Marie Claire).

“The following morning, the Mrs wanted them gone. Unable to throw them into the sea and too far away to drop them at a port, the crew had to jam them into their tiny quarters.”

Chief Stewardess of a Superyacht, Gemma Hulbert, told CNN a similar story of excessive pampering.

Once, she told CNN, a guest only wanted to bathe in half a tub of hot water that was topped off with half a bottle of Fiji water and half a cup of baby oil.

“That was so much fun to clean from the marble after.”

Hulbert

She also told CNN: “I’ve…had a charter guest in the past who purchased a vintage Hermes bag in the States so our purser (the officer on board who keeps the accounts) had to organize a private jet to go to the States from Monaco to pick up the bag and bring it back so she could take it to a gala the next day.”

Crew sometimes see some wild things too. Bloomberg wrote in 2021: “staff see and hear things of a… risqué nature, such as one yachtie whose repeat client insisted on spending her entire seven-day foray in the nude, often passing out drunk in unbecoming positions.”

“Semiclad sunbathing (most often by ‘paid friend’ types), spouse swaps and drunken fisticuffs are also common.”

Bloomberg

One yacht captain told Bloomberg: “We’ve seen guys do splits with one foot on the boat and the other on the tender as they drifted apart.”

“One time… we watched someone get slapped in the face by a flying fish.”

Bloomberg also reports that the days when yachts were drifting cocaine dens are over (in the Caribbean at least), writing that boats can be impounded and captains arrested if illegal substances are found on board.

That said, there are still some wild parties (and revenge shopping sprees for irritated partners). According to the outlet, “Often a yacht will be rented for two weeks: the first for the family, the second for bachelor partyesque antics.”

Superyacht staff also speak of cooking elaborate meals for pets, and babies, before blending them to a pulp so that they could be eaten.

South Florida is also, according to Bloomberg, an even wilder version of the Mediterranean.

Bloomberg reports on “time-crunched celebs willing to drop $15,000 on one epic joyride” in which, according to one source, “you head out in the morning, drop anchor at the sandbar off Key Biscayne, play with the toys before you’re too drunk, then dock at the trendiest club.”

“At one club, I was invited on board an owner’s docked boat, only to find a veritable buffet of weed. While looking for the bathroom, I stumbled into another secret lair: a dedicated cocaine room, complete with an ornate mirrored table.”

Bloomberg

Finally, how could we forget the hilarious time that news broke of a superyacht crew all dressing in designer clothes, as the owner of their superyacht refused to wear clothes more than once, and so would always throw away his lavish outfits…

There you have it: some of the wildest tales from the high seas.

Stan Australia: Price, Features & What To Watch In 2023
Stan Australia: Price, Features & What To Watch In 2023

In the age where streaming is king and free-to-air TV is slowly dying, it’s essential to know which are the best streaming services. One such platform, which has remained popular heading into 2023 is Stan, an Australian streaming platform. So, without further ado, here’s everything you need to know:

What Is Stan?

Stan Australia launched in 2015 – the same year Netflix Australia launched – and is an exclusive video streaming service in Australia and as of now boasts over 2.5 million subscribers. Stan was at one time the second-largest streaming service in Australia (behind Netflix), but has recently been surpassed by more global streaming sites such as Disney+ and Amazon Prime.

The service was originally founded as StreamCo Media, a joint venture between Nine Entertainment Co. (an Australian media company) and Fairfax Media (an Australian/New Zealand media company). The name was changed to Stan just before its launch in 2015 and, following Nine’s acquisition of Fairfax Media in 2018, Stan is now a wholly-owned subsidiary of Nine Entertainment Co.

Stan Australia Content

While Stan may be an Australian exclusive, it doesn’t offer just Australian content. In fact, the vast majority of Stan’s television shows, movies, documentaries, reality shows, etc. are from the US and UK, along with a limited amount of content from other countries.

This is due to various partnership deals with Sony Pictures, ABC, SBS, ViacomCBS, MGM, BBC Worldwide, Showtime, CBS, Village Roadshow and Waner Bros. International Television Distribution.

As a result, the platform features fan-favourite television shows such as The Office, Parks and Recreation and Gossip Girl as well as a huge range of box-office movies including the entire James Bond collection.

As well as these classics, Stan also features a huge catalogue of underrated content for TV enthusiasts and movie buffs.

Stan Australia Price

Stan has three subscription tier options: Basic, Standard and Premium. If you’re new to Stan, you can sign up for a 30-day free trial to see if it’s the best streaming service for you.

  • Stan Basic costs $10 per month and allows you to watch content in standard definition on up to 1 screen at a time. Content can also be downloaded to up to 1 phone or tablet too.
  • Stan Standard costs $16 per month and allows you to watch content in up to high definition on up to 3 screens at a time. Content can also be downloaded on up to 3 separate phones or tablets too.
  • Stan Premium costs $21 per month and allows you to watch content in up to ultra high definition on up to 4 screens at a time. Content can be downloaded on up to 5 separate phones or tablets.

The Stan Sport add-on can be added to any Stan subscription tier for an additional $10 per month.

Stan Australia Features

As with other streaming services, because of the sheer amount of content available to watch on Stan, it needs to be easy for users to navigate. Fortunately, it is. Content is separated by movies and TV shows, or if you just use the main home page on whichever device you choose, you’ll be shown a mixture of the two.

Content will be further separated by genre or you can view recommended movies and TV shows based on your viewing habits.

You’re also able to set up separate profiles for individual users so that you can watch your own TV shows and movies, and not have anyone else interrupt a season you’re currently getting stuck into.

What devices can I use to watch Stan?

Stan can be easily accessed from a range of devices, including:

  • Smart TVs
  • Games consoles
  • Streaming devices and set-top boxes such as Google Chromecast or Apple TV
  • Phones and tablets
  • PC
  • Mac

A full list of supported devices can be found on the Stan website.

Stan Sport

Stan also offers an add-on for an additional $10/month called ‘Stan Sports’.

This will give you access to a HUGE range of sports matches, such as:
  • Soccer – UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, UEFA Conference League & UEFA SuperCup
  • Motorsport – Formula E, INDYCAR, World Endurance Championship, World Rally Championship, TCR Australia, S5000, GT World Challenge Australia, Touring Car Masters & TransAm
  • Tennis – Australian Open, Wimbledon, Roland-Garros & US Open.
  • Rugby Union – Super Rugby, Six Nations, Rugby Championship, Bledisloe Cup & Premiership Rugby.

LeBron James Finds Most Unique Way To Flex His New Car
LeBron James Finds Most Unique Way To Flex His New Car

Ah, the perks of being a celebrity. The world’s top basketball player took to social media to show off his new whip, flexing a subtle feature of his car that car nuts will go nuts for.

When you’re rich and famous, you just get offered things we mere mortals don’t, like rare off-catalogue watches or matching suits for you and your boo for a red carpet ‘do.

In LeBron James‘ case, it’s a free GMC Hummer EV worth around AU$150,000. That’s right. Hummer makes electric cars now. But more on just how ridiculous this car is later.

What’s particularly impressive about LeBron’s Hummer is its vehicle identification number, or VIN, of which he shared a close-up photo on Instagram. Also sometimes called a chassis number or frame number, a VIN is a unique 17-character code, including a serial number, used by the automotive industry to identify individual cars.

The VIN for LeBron’s Hummer ends in 00006 – meaning it’s only the 6th example of this car to ever be produced. It’s a niche flex, but it’s something car guys really care about. We don’t know if we ought to give LeBron props or laugh at such a strange move.

Images: @kingjames

Billed as “the world’s first zero-emissions, zero limits all-electric supertruck,” the GMC Hummer EV represents a rather genius revival of the Hummer brand. With a claimed 0-60mph time of 3 seconds, four-wheel steering, up to 16 inches of ground clearance and even waterproof underbody cameras that can help you pick the best line when navigating a trail, the Hummer EV is designed to be a tough, no-compromise off-roader.

RELATED: BMW’s New Electric Luxury ‘Barge’ Should Have Mercedes-Benz Nervous

One of the biggest problem electric cars have faced – particularly in America – is that they’re seen by many men as somehow not manly. The biggest problem the original Hummers had was that they were considered phony; a poser’s vehicle with none of the off-road capability of the Humvees it was inspired by while still having just as poor fuel economy.

The new Hummer EV solves both those problems. Not only is it actually good off-road, but it’s not going to kill the planet whilst you drive it. Get the greatest basketball player of all time to sell it, too? GM knows what they’re doing.

Drake Flexes ‘Rare As Rocking Horse S***’ Rolex At Kentucky Derby
Drake Flexes ‘Rare As Rocking Horse S***’ Rolex At Kentucky Derby

The hip-hop superstar is well-known for his love of the finer things… So it’s perhaps not a surprise he was spotted at one of the world’s most famous horse races wearing an exceedingly rare new Rolex.

Drake is living his best life in 2022, with the 35-year-old Canadian making more money and selling more records than ever.

Indeed, Billboard has just come out and shared data that shows Drake generated more music streams in 2021 than every song released prior to 1980 combined. Even with the pittance streaming services pay, that’s a lot of moolah.

Perhaps that’s why he’s splurged on yet another ridiculously expensive watch. Chilling at the Kentucky Derby last week with fellow rapper Jack Harlow, Drizzy was spotted rocking a rare Rolex Sky-Dweller ‘2021 Secret Release’ (ref. 326259TBR) worth well over AU$1 million.

Images: @champagnepapi / Chrono24

As the name suggests, this Rolex isn’t available to regular punters. It’s an off-the-catalogue special that’s only offered to Rolex’s biggest-spending customers. The watch is so rare, few pictures of it exist online – so Drake’s really blessed us by offering us a glimpse.

RELATED: Rolex’s ‘Eye Of The Tiger’ Is Their Most Luxurious Watch Ever

Featuring an 18ct white gold case, meteorite dial and almost completely paved with diamonds, this hefty Sky-Dweller is a real rapper’s watch. Normally mounted on a similarly paved white gold bracelet, Drake has instead opted for the Oysterflex version of this piece, which is slightly more sporty and much more comfortable.

Drake wasn’t just at the Kentucky Derby to take in the atmosphere (although he certainly did plenty of that – as BlogTO reports, Drake got hilariously drunk at the race). He was actually there to film a music video for Jack Harlow’s track Churchill Downs, on which he appears as a featured artist.

Coffee Enemas Are The S***test Health Hack Of 2022
Coffee Enemas Are The S***test Health Hack Of 2022

You may not have heard of a coffee enema before, but there are claims online that they can help with fat loss. But are actually any good?

No, it isn’t some strange sexual fetish, some people actually do insert coffee into their rear end instead of the usual method of drinking. But, what is a coffee enema and do they actually work?

We’d wager a good proportion of the world’s population follow a similar morning routine of waking up, making their bed and either making themselves a coffee at home or heading out to their local cafe for their first fix of caffeine.

Not only does the dosage of caffeine stimulate our bodies to help give us some energy to tackle the day ahead, but the various tastes of coffee, depending on the origin of the bean, are pleasant on our taste buds.

RELATED: ‘Sensory Secret’ That Makes Coffee Even More Delicious

So, with such amazing benefits to be had from drinking a coffee, why on earth would you want to shove one up your tuchus?

What is a coffee enema?

According to Healthline, a coffee enema is a “type of colon cleanse used in alternative medicine. During the procedure, a mixture of brewed, caffeinated coffee and water is inserted into the colon through the rectum.”

It’s claimed that German-American doctor Max Gerson was the first to really highlight the purported benefits of coffee enemas, believing “you could detox the body and give it nutrients to heal itself using an organic plant-based diet, raw juices and coffee enemas. His program became known as Gerson therapy.”

And of course, TikTok and Instagram have brought this alternative trend kicking and screaming into 2022.

What are the health benefits of a coffee enema?

DMARGE came across a video posted by Adam Sullivan of Evidence Based Training on Instagram, which shows Adam poking fun at another user’s claims that coffee enemas can help to detoxify the liver and improve digestion. The user goes on to say the liver is the main organ in the body that helps to burn fat, so by stimulating it by way of using a coffee enema, you can supposedly speed up fat loss.

However, according to Healthline, no scientific evidence exists to “prove or disprove that coffee enemas are helpful to treat any medical conditions. Evidence for or against the use of coffee enemas is mostly anecdotal.”

The online health publication adds there are a number of claimed benefits, but again, these haven’t been proven. None of the alleged health benefits relate to fat loss.

“Coffee enema supporters claim the procedure provides benefits including boosting immunity, increasing energy, stopping yeast overgrowth, treating autoimmune diseases, removing parasites from the digestive tract, removing heavy metals from the body, treating depression and treating cancer.”

These are just anecdotal claims, however.

Going back to Adam’s video, he adds – quite rightly – that “if you’re willing to [use a coffee enema] to lose fat, I’m pretty sure you have the capacity to follow a structured diet.”

Indeed, Adam has said on many previous occasions, that the best and only real proven method of losing fat is to follow a calorie deficit diet. There may be products on the market that claim to be an easy route to fat loss, such as the Man Shake, but these essentially just replace regular meals, and ultimately cause you to be in a calorie deficit too.

We wouldn’t pretend to be experts on coffee enemas. But we must stress, if you are thinking about it, please please consult a health professional first. And don’t forget the lube.

‘Not Respecting My Dad Enough’: Australian Men Share Their Biggest Regrets
‘Not Respecting My Dad Enough’: Australian Men Share Their Biggest Regrets

Australian men have taken to social media to share their biggest life regrets, in the hope that other guys can avoid making the same mistakes.

They say you should live your life without regrets. But sometimes looking back can help you plot a better path forward.

Speaking of which: a Facebook group of Australian men with more than 250k members recently discussed some of their biggest regrets.

This was so, as the originator of the discission put it, “maybe some people on here will read what you have to say and not make the same mistake.”

“Not respecting my dad enough when I was young,” was one of the most ‘liked’ regrets. “He is still alive now that I take care of him back, but I gave it to him way to[o] rough in my school days always running around and barely home.”

“Wish I could’ve realised him being my only parent I should’ve respected him way more.”

Another said: “I wish I’d had more self-belief when I was going through high school and into my 20’s.”

The same guy added: “Kept feeling like I needed to ‘prove’ myself and that I lacked something. That was 12 years of my life I should’ve enjoyed more but I can’t get that time back. Who knows how much further along I might be today and how many more valuable lessons I’d have learned if I’d backed myself more then and hadn’t been so worried about making mistakes?”

Not making the most of school was a common regret, with various comments like: “Fucking around in highschool instead of getting a descent education” rolling in. As one man put it: “I would be working a lot less harder for more money right now.”

“Moving out of home at 14 to move in with friends getting on drugs an being a criminal for 10 plus years … which I’m still paying for now.”

Another big theme was opening up (or the lack thereof). One of the group’s users said that his biggest regret was never talking about the trauma he experienced as a nipper.

“I regret telling myself that everything really is okay when actually… it’s fucken not,” he shared. “In this I found myself self-sabotaging myself into a person I never saw myself as a kid.”

“Heavy disgusting drug use and the behaviour & lifestyle that comes with that. And many more mistakes and dark experiences that nobody would enjoy to tell. Anyway.. It’s too easy fall into negative patterns or cycles. Especially when one finds their way to ‘cope’. I’m guilty myself … everyday for missing a step or making a decision that doesn’t align with who I am and want to be.”

He added: “Even after getting clean and putting my life back on the rails, I still never opened up or actually realised I had trauma that caused me to spiral and literally sabotage myself in the first place… until I was 24/25.”

“I’m 27 now and honestly, still going through it all. I’m also guilty for being aware of these issues in my life and not working on them.”

“So to sum it up. Talk about your shit boys. Don’t bottle your shit up and push yourself to a spiral. And if I have one piece of advice for anybody who feels lost or angry or off path or whatever. Sit with that feeling/emotion and fucken feel it. Don’t react. Focus on why you feel that way. And make better decisions for YOURSELF.”

An enjoyable (though, for some, regrettable, activity). Image Credit: Getty Images

Others talked about how they wished they had managed their relationships differently. One big piece of advice was not to stay in a relationship you aren’t happy in.

One guy shared: “Staying with my ex ‘for the kids’. Don’t ever do it. Mine and the kids lives are 100x better off. Kids need happy parents, they don’t need together parents.”

Further insights included safety regrets (“took my safety glasses off becoz it was dark and couldn’t see half hour later fucking 3inch nail from a framer straight into the eyeball goodbye sight!”), addiction (“lighting that first durrie fucking 7 years ago and now I’m really struggling to stay off them”) and looking out for your mates.

Speaking of which, one sad tale shared on the page is as follows:

“[I regret] not picking up on subtle hints of a young lad. (I was young too). Hints were dropped in a normal conversation that I thought he was talking about moving back home. (Which he was doing). The lad committed suicide 2 days later. I do openly talk about this incident, even today.”

“The hope that someone else picks up on hints better than I did could save a life.”

There were also plenty of regrets about money and (not) investing. As one guy put it: “[I] spent a lot of my 20’s earning and burning good money. Wish I set myself up a bit better.”

Another said he regretted ignoring Bitcoin in 2008 and joked that now he invests in every single risky startup he sees to compensate.

“Spending what would have been a decent house deposit on vs commodore ute while living with my parents.”

Medical issues were another hot button topic. One man wrote: “Not checking on my health with doctors [is a regret]. Spent 30 years of my life not knowing I had ADHD and had a constant feeling of disappointment and regret in myself thinking I was just a lazy, unfocused piece of shit.”

Another wrote: “Waiting until I was 33 (37 now) to seek mental health advice. Absolutely ruined everything and everyone up until then. Family are nuts for sticking by me and now got a new career and doing better than ever.”

Yet another guy expressed his contrition that he never got himself into peak physical fitness, whether by military or sports.

“[I regret] that I never joined the military and never did any physical sports like footy boxing or martial arts or something. My mum was dead against it. Learn to tell people to get fkd youngins. Do what YOU want.”

Two more relationship based regrets also hit home quite hard. One man talked about how he lost a friend by not going to see him in hospital (“my biggest regret is not going to see a good mate when he was in hospital when he lost his leg in a bike accident…Lost a good mate because of it”) and another said he regretted choosing the army over his family.

“Missed the first 12 months of my daughter’s life. We are all good now super close bond but it’s taken me a while to even talk about losing that time without getting emotional.”

Finally, to cap things off, the honourable award (in our view) for the most hilarious regret goes to the guy who held an “after grog bog” shit in for three days while camping.

We’ll let him take it from here.

“Came home and had to enema 2kg of molasses coloured poo out of my rectal cavity which was pretty much just Great Northern and Woolies sausages and ended up scratching my ringer whilst conducting this operation. 10/10 worst pain I’ve felt is having a cut on me dot. Regret.”

Melbourne’s ‘Petrolhead Paradise’ House Set To Sell For Big Bucks
Melbourne’s ‘Petrolhead Paradise’ House Set To Sell For Big Bucks

Cars and motorbikes are like kinetic art. Beautiful when in motion, but beautiful when they’re standing still. That’s why petrolheads love building lavish houses and garages to house their pride and joys – and this particular Melbourne house is particularly lavish.

140 The Boulevard in Aberfeldie – which has long been known to locals as ‘the motorbike house’ thanks to the never-ridden 2017 Royal Enfield 350 Classic that’s been parked in its front window for years – is now going up for sale.

While the bike’s not included in the sale, a huge 9-car garage in the basement is, along with cool Ferrari and Lamborghini petrol station-style signs for added flair. So whether you like two wheels or four, you’re more than covered.

The house also happens to be a bit of an entertainer’s dream. Not only does it feature a cool bar space that can display 114 wine bottles, but it also has a huge entertaining area with a built-in surround sound system, a 75-inch TV plus ceiling mounted electric heaters.

Like the bike, the cars aren’t included. Which is a shame. Would love a John Player Special E30. Image: McDonald Upton

140 The Boulevard also boasts a nice big pool that overlooks the Maribyrnong River as well as a rear alfresco area with a barbecue kitchen and an open log fireplace, which we’re sure your guests will love – if they’re not nerding out in the garage downstairs or trying to sit on the bike upstairs.

The home is listed with a $7.4m-$7.9m asking price, but knowing how stupid Melbourne property prices are getting at the moment – and how unique this place is – you can comfortably assume it’ll go for a lot more.

Check out this petrolhead’s paradise online here.

Who Is Gianluca Vacchi?

Business Career

Gianluca Vacchi is an Italian businessman, entrepreneur and social media celebrity. At the age of 25, he and his cousin Alberto Vacchi took the multinational Italian business, Industria Macchine Automatiche S.p.A. (IMA), public. IMA has gone on to become incredibly successful, and through various holding companies, Gianluca owns around 50% of the company and so receives dividend payouts each year valued at around $50 million, which contribute to his wealth.

Gianluca Vacchi was always destined to have a keen eye for business, having graduated from Studiorum University in Bologna, Italy, with a degree in Business and Economics. He set out on his own path in business and began buying and selling stocks to start generating some money. He then became a non-executive director of IMA.

He also founded a watch company called ToyWatch, which saw significant growth in its first year. Once this growth had been achieved, he sold the company. He also founded and later sold the Last Minute Tour company, again, after it had achieved significant growth.

DJ Career

Owing to his now playboy-esque lifestyle, Gianluca Vacchi also has a taste for party life and even has a side hustle as an accomplished DJ. He began DJ-ing and highlighting his love for partying through his social media accounts when he turned 46 in 2013.

Through his DJ interest, Gianluca Vacchi has worked with the likes of Steve Aoki, Nicola Zucchi, Christian Lena and Albertino. He has a record contract with the dance music label, Spinnin’ Records, and has published a couple of songs, which you can listen to on YouTube.

Fitness

One of the biggest draws, for us here at DMARGE at least, is just how well Gianluca Vacchi looks after his body via various workout routines and investing in some of the latest gadgets, all designed to improve his health. He is living proof that you are never too old to work out, and if anything, some of his workouts could prove to be too tough for his younger peers.

Style

It can always be assumed that Italian men are born with fashion and style in their veins, but Gianluca Vacchi really does know how to dress well. Whether he’s perfectly combining traditional sartorial pieces with modern shirts or showing off envy-inducing watches, he’s a man you need to be following for style inspiration.

Gianluca Vacchi Family

Gianluca Vacchi has been linked with a number of women in his past, most notably, Giorgia Gabriele, with whom he posted videos dancing to his Instagram account. These videos quickly went viral and essentially catapulted him to social media stardom.

He split with Gabriele and, following a relationship or two later, settled down with model Sharon Fonseca, 27 years his junior. Gianluca announced 11th May 2020 that he and Fonseca were expecting their first child. Their daughter, Blu Jerusalema Vacchi, was born on October 28th 2020.

Gianluca Vacchi Net Worth

Gianluca Vacchi’s net worth is said to be an estimated $200 million. The majority of this comes from his holding stake in IMA, but he no doubt can now demand large sums for social media posts and guest appearances at various events around the world.

Gianluca Vacchi Prime Video Series

On Thursday 5th May 2022, Gianluca Vacchi announced via his Instagram page that a series revolving around him will soon be coming to the Prime Video streaming service in Italy on May 25th 2022. If You Like Austin Powers, You’ll Love This New Mike Myers Series

Mike Myers is back! The actor, best known for his roles in Austin Powers, is the creator and star of a new Netflix miniseries – in which he plays eight different characters. The humour of the show – called The Pentaverate – is very similar to Austin Powers’ so fans of Myers’ most famous character will love it!

It’s been fourteen years since a film with Mike Myers in the lead role has been released; the last was The Love Guru in 2008 which was critically panned and essentially wrecked Myers’ career.

Since then, the Emmy-award winning actor, best known for his roles in Austin Powers, Shrek and Wayne’s World has only done a few small roles – General Ed Fenech in Inglorious Basterds and Ray Foster in Bohemian Rhapsody.

But Myers is back. A brand new Netflix miniseries called The Pentaverate was released just last week and it’s sure to please fans who have missed Myers and his unique (read: juvenile) style of humour.

The Pentaverate revolves around a secret society that’s been doing what’s ‘best’ for the world since the Black Plague of 1347 and there are two narratives that slowly intertwine.

On the one hand, we have a Canadian journalist – played by Myers – who sets out to expose The Pentaverate in the hopes that the exposé saves his career. Then we also see the story of Dr Hobart Clark, – played by comedian Keegan-Michael Key – who is asked to join the secret society.

Myers plays a total of eight different characters – similar to how in Austin Powers he played the titular character as well as Dr Evil, Fat Bastard and Goldmember.

Say what you want about Myers but he’s an incredible actor; for example, his Australian accent (one of the characters in The Pentaverate is a clear parody of Aussie tycoon, Rupert Murdoch) is seriously impressive, especially considering that so many American actors get Australian accents SO wrong.

So far, The Pentaverate is receiving average reviews but so did the Austin Powers’ sequels, and I’d argue they’re just as funny as the first Austin Powers film; which was praised. And sure, The Pentaverate is not going to entertain everyone…

But Myers, as well as the entire cast, turn in great performances and the miniseries is filled with the style of humour Myers is renowned for – clever visual gags, ridiculous over-the-top characters, goofiness to the utmost and, of course, sexual innuendos and toilet humour.

So, if you’re a fan of the Austin Powers trilogy or the Wanye’s World films – or even The Simpsons; the opening scenes of The Pentaverate reminded me of the Stonecutters episode – you’ll seriously enjoy The Pentaverate; especially if you’ve been looking for something that’s super easy to watch and will provide you with a few giggles.
