Fancy yourself a stock trader? An investor? A would-be Warren Buffet? A Wall Street Bets punter who self identifies as an idiot but who has all the luck of a four-leaf clover?
Though you may have seen headlines like Wall Street Pros Sheepishly Admit To Following Twitter’s Day Trade Army For Stock Tips and all sorts of excitement about ‘amateur hour’, with groupthink experiments like this one (which told everyone to invest in the flailing AMC) proving a tsunami of retail interest can (at least temporarily) prop a company up despite it being shorted to the hilt by Wall Street, the truth is, as a rookie investor, you are still as vulnerable as ever to come a cropper. More so if some early luck has gone to your head.
So: however you like to classify your Saturday/Sunday fluttering, there are a few things you should know. First of all, if you are anything like many of the masses who downloaded eToro or Robinhood out of boredom during lockdown, you don’t want to get ahead of yourself and call yourself an investor. You’re only an investor if you have researched the company and truly believe in it (and hold a long term view of it).
Secondly: though you – point-blank – shouldn’t be throwing your hard-earned cash at ‘Wall Street Bets’ Reddit recommendations (or random ‘ant farm in Sierra Leone’ recommendations from friends and family) or worse than small-cap crypto ‘moon shoots’ recommendations (as a DMARGE writer recently learned the hard way), if you are going to do it, don’t borrow money to do so.
As Kitara Investments CIO Tolga Kumova recently said on The BIP Show podcast, if you’re investing at the junior end of the market “you’re already levered.”
“I wouldn’t borrow money to go and invest in this [small cap] space,” he said, talking about his early days as a trader. “Risk return is massive already and you don’t want to get wiped out.”
It’s also worth noting he was doing this as a professional, not as a weekend hobbyist. And even he managed to get caught off guard.
RELATED: Twitter Trend Suggests ‘Weekend Warrior’ Stock Traders Are In For A Brutal Wake Up Call
With the preface that this is not financial advice and just a conversation of a general nature, he told The BIP Show: “I traded CFD’s – this is back when I was trying to make my bankroll – and I borrowed money on a credit card and I was trading FX, Aussie, US, non-stop and I won’t go into too much detail but I made a lot of money.”
“The return was ridiculous in terms of the money that I put in [compared] to what I pulled out… I reckon it was 500, 600 or 700% – more. But I pulled that money out and I left 30% of what I had made in there. I lost that in a day.”
“The second I thought I knew what I was doing it was gone the next day. I was in debt to the CFD provider and I thought this is not for me – I can’t do this because you basically just do not sleep.”
“You’ve got to be thinking about it, looking at it all day every day – you don’t have a life. I realised the quality of life vs. taking a position, doing your work and understanding a position and understanding the risks of that position is more rewarding.”
“That’s what pushed me from trading.”
He also said “the difference between trading and investing is time frame,” explaining that though you may see people on Twitter posting their daily updates, “I’m sure they’ve got a portfolio in the background where they’ve got a longer-term view on certain companies.”

Interest piqued? Still intent on pursuing those risky as heck ‘daily updates’? In the interests of keeping you on the straight and narrow, here’s some good general advice for rookie traders, courtesy of eToro.
DMARGE spoke to Josh Gilbert, market analyst at eToro. Mr Gilberst says these are the questions you should ask yourself before investing in any company.
Do I understand basic stock market terminology and my chosen investment platform?
Before you start investing, make sure you understand the general lingo and how your preferred investment platform works, Mr Gilbert says.
“You don’t want to accidentally lose money because you misunderstood a term, or clicked the wrong buttons. Some platforms, like eToro, allow you to use a virtual portfolio before you start investing real money, so you can learn the ropes with zero risk.”
“Remember, practice makes perfect.”
What are my investment goals and strategy?
“Not having a financial plan can lead to lack of focus and being easily swayed or impulse investing which often doesn’t end well,” Mr Gilbert said.
“If you don’t have a plan for how to manage your money, you’ll be more vulnerable to impulse buying, overspending and making other unwise decisions. Even if you are earning a lot, failure to plan will likely ruin your set objectives.
“You should avoid setting goals that are vague, too broad or exaggerated with no timeline,” Mr Gilbert added.
“An example plan could include outlining how much capital you want to invest, the time you want to spend in the market, how many companies or assets you want to invest in, and ways you might hedge against risk- such as diversifying your portfolio or setting stop limits.”
Do I really understand what this company does?
Mr Gilbert told DMARGE: “Ensure you have a basic understanding of what the company does before taking the financial plunge and investing in the stock” and “invest in what you know.”
“By investing in your passions and interests, you are more likely to understand how they best operate.”
“For example, if you love tech, you may decide you want to buy stocks in Apple or Microsoft. Or, if fashion is more your thing, you might want to consider ASOS or H&M. But of course, do your homework on them first, instead of going in blind.”
Am I being led by FOMO?
“Are you just simply investing in a stock because everyone else is? Or because the headlines and ‘finfluencers’ have hyped it up as a ‘must have’ for your portfolio?” Mr Gilbert asks.
“Instead of investing in a stock because of FOMO (fear of missing out), ensure you’re investing for the right reasons and do your research. Do you actually see potential in this stock? If the answer is no, it’s best to back away.”
Am I investing more than I can afford?
This is a big one. As Mr Gilbert told us, “It’s important to understand your risk appetite and how much you can realistically afford to invest, and worst case, lose.”
“It’s a common misconception that you need a lot of money to make investing worthwhile. Thanks to the proliferation of everyday-people-friendly tech platforms, you can invest with as little as USD $50.”
“If you start low but invest regularly, you’ll be surprised how quickly your portfolio will build up.”
“Be mindful of your limits and think about whether you could realistically afford to lose the amount you initially invested in a worst-case-scenario,” he added.
“High-risk mindsets amongst inexperienced investors may result in losses, especially during the global pandemic when markets have been extremely volatile.”
What value will this stock add to my portfolio?
“The truth is, you don’t need to invest in stocks because they’ve just listed and are ‘hot,’ Mr Gilbert told DMARGE. “All stocks should meet a need in your portfolio and it should essentially add an exposure that you already don’t have.”
“Try to diversify your portfolio with a range of different stocks from different industries, as well as commodities and cryptoassets to ensure your portfolio is balanced.”
Do I really understand the risks associated with investing in stocks?
Finally, Mr Gilbert left us with one final warning.
“You should understand that regardless of market conditions, investing in the stock market can be risky.”
“This is why it’s crucial that you’re able to comprehend what you’re investing and don’t invest more than you can afford to lose.”

The Olympic Games are many things to many people. The world’s pre-eminent sporting competition… A political machine used for soft power diplomacy… In 2021, it’s a much-needed distraction from the COVID-19 pandemic. It’s also one giant marketing exercise.
Brands of all shapes and sizes compete just as fiercely as Olympic athletes for endorsements, sponsorships and coverage. This is particularly true when it comes to outfitting national sporting teams, especially successful ones. From Adidas and ASICS to Nike and New Balance, getting Olympic teams to wear your logo is big business for sportswear brands.
However, it’s increasingly becoming a field where luxury brands want to compete, too. Of course, luxury brands and designers have always had a presence at the Olympics: Ralph Lauren has long designed Team USA’s opening ceremony outfits, as has Giorgio Armani for Team Italy, for example.
But Tokyo 2020 (or should that be 2021?) has seen a paradigm shift, where athletes are actually competing wearing luxury brands, instead of just wearing them for opening/closing or medal ceremonies.

One notable example is American skateboarding bronze medallist Cory Juneau, who competed in his events with Golden Goose sneakers on his feet. It’s the first time that Golden Goose, an Italian luxury footwear brand known for their signature ‘distressed’ aesthetic whose sneakers start at around AU$600, has endorsed an athlete.
RELATED: ‘Abused’ $900 Sneakers The Next Normal For Australian Luxury Consumers
This ties into a broader trend of luxury brands pursuing skateboarding endorsements: for example, Louis Vuitton made waves last year by signing Jamaican-British pro Lucien Clarke (known for his long association with cult streetwear brand Palace) as their very first sponsored athlete. Skate culture has an outsized influence on fashion as a whole, so it’s not surprising that brands like LV and Golden Goose want to get in on this space. But that’s another story…
Another fashion brand that’s dominated discussion during Tokyo 2020 has been Telfar, the namesake imprint of Liberian-American designer Telfar Clemens, most famous for his cult handbag that’s been dubbed ‘the Bushwick Birkin’.
In a world-first, Telfar became the team and apparel sponsor for Team Liberia, the talented designer crafting a unique and luxurious visual identity for the small country’s athletes. It’s been transformative for the team – as well as for Clemens himself, who told The New York Times “it’s meaningful to me on a lot of levels.”

Liberia, a country of only 5.2 million, has never won an Olympic medal and previously has had to scrounge for sponsorship dollars – yet thanks to the enterprising spirit and vision of Telfar, has easily been the best-dressed team at the Tokyo games, as well as one of the breakout stories of the games.
RELATED: Here’s How To Become An Olympian While Putting In As Little Effort As Possible
The next Olympic games is only three years away, and it’s in Paris – the world’s fashion capital. We wonder if more luxury brands, inspired by the examples of Golden Goose, Telfar and others, will crop up on the field of competition.
We just want to see a revival of the iconic Oakley OVERTHETOP sunglasses Trinidadian sprinter Ato Boldon rocked at the Sydney 2000 Olympics…

When you’re the inspiration behind one of the most viral memes of all time, and have a subsequent global reputation to uphold, not to mention running a chain of successful (and expensive) restaurants, you’d think there’d be virtually no time to look after yourself.
But for Nusret Gökçe – aka Salt Bae, aka the Internet’s sexiest butcher – he not only looks after his own body, but he manages to keep his body fat percentage so low it boggles the mind. And now, the man himself has finally revealed his daily meal plan so that you can (potentially) get yourself a similarly shredded rig.
So what is Salt Bae’s diet secret?
Taking to Instagram, Salt Bae admits that “exercise and nutrition are like fingerprints – personalised,” highlighting the fact that what works for one person may not work for the other. It’s with this in mind that you should take his meal plan with a meme-worthy sprinkle of salt.

“My daily program starts from two room temperature glasses of still water and 4 apricots. After half an hour I drink one cappuccino and then I start my workout” he claims.
Following his workout, he backs up previous videos by adding he literally does eat steak for breakfast: “After [my] workout, I eat breakfast which is 250gr steak, chickpea, lentils, beans and black rice.”
“For lunch I’m steaming any vegetables and 250gr steak. Afternoon I have a yogurt with grapes molasses, single espresso. For dinner at 9pm I eat beetroot salad and steak.”
“After dinner I drink only water. No more food.”
His diet, then, is pretty much what you’d expect: meat, with a few veggies thrown in for good measure. But it’s his insane workouts that keep his rig so insanely ripped. His workouts aren’t necessarily conventional, as he’s been seen using all manner of props such as rocks instead of traditional weights, to achieve his physique.
RELATED: Salt Bae’s Bizarre Workout Routine Puts Your Gym Sessions To Shame
As mentioned earlier, don’t simply put yourself onto the same diet and expect the same results overnight. You should always consult with a health professional before making any drastic changes to your diet. However, you could at least use it as inspiration to help you to start shedding some troublesome body fat.

In the years leading up to 2020, more dating buzzwords entered our mouths than we could throw a jibing, beard baiting, gatsby-ing ghost at. Since the pandemic swung into our lives, however, we’ve seen the Shakespeares of the dating scene ease up a little on their nouveau mots.
But now, as we slowly return to normality, we figured it’s time to throw some new syllables in the fire. Inspired by an Instagram post by artist and illustrator Samantha Rothenberg, allow us to introduce you to a phenomenon we like to call ‘pedestalling.’
Rothenberg recently took to Instagram with the following graphic.
View this post on Instagram
“When you put someone you’re into on a pedestal, doesn’t it feel like ‘having’ them will make all of your problems go away? Spoiler alert: it won’t,” she captioned the post.
The drift?
Pedestalling is when you date someone “unattainable” so that you can distract yourself from your own problems.
Many followers commented, feeling brutally ~seen~.
Samantha Jayne, relationship expert and dating coach, told DMARGE pedestalling is widespread.
“I commonly hear people refer to themselves as a ‘fixer’, or ‘rescuer’ where they look at the other person’s problems, they feel good trying to help other people out, when really this just avoids them looking at their own lives.”
Relationship and sex therapist Heidi Gee told DMARGE: “a lot of people don’t want to focus on their own stuff because it’s too painful.”
“I see all sorts of things in my practice – lots of clients getting on the defensive with me because it’s too painful. They don’t want to work on that stuff but in order for us to heal [we need to].”
Samantha added an example of her own: “Today I was speaking to a woman – she was gorgeous, intelligent, fit with a huge heart. She was recently seeing a guy and he was so slow to respond because he was going through his own ‘stuff.'”
“So she was checking in with him to see if he was ok when really he wasn’t giving her the validation or attention that she deserved. She said, ‘It’s ok, I’m a rescuer’ followed by, ‘I know it’s not healthy for me but I can’t help it.'”
This is a classic example of focusing on the other person: “putting them on a pedestal and putting your needs last.”
“The thing is he gave her attention previously and now that he was distancing himself she kept thinking about the connection they had, the spark when really she should have just looked at his behaviour. His pattern was withdrawing when stressed. Look at the pattern and face the reality, ask yourself is this what you want.”
“Pedestalling is living in a fantasy,” Samantha explains. “Often people do this to stay safe. If you keep someone at a distance they can never truly hurt you….well..that’s what you think. In the long run pedestalling keeps you stuck, lowers your self-confidence and makes you think that you’ll never actually achieve a real relationship.”
“You think they are superior to you and out of reach when in reality they are probably just like you.”
“If you feel extremely nervous around a person, you’re pedestalling. If you are feeling very nervous or you worry about rejection, you’re quite possibly pedestalling. If you don’t know what to say and get lost for words, you’re pedestalling. If you think they are out of your league you’re pedestalling….the more you pedestal someone the bigger the fear will get.”
“If you work on your confidence and self-worth by changing your belief systems you will stop pedestalling and see that person more as an equal and have healthier more fulfilling relationships.”
So now we know what pedestalling looks like. How do we fix it? It all comes down to being honest with yourself.
View this post on Instagram
Samantha says to ask yourself why you do it. “Is it because you like the fantasy of it? Are you fulfilling your needs in your mind but not in reality? The funny thing is the subconscious mind doesn’t know the difference between imagination and reality. So to some extent the pedestal thing might feel real for a while but it isn’t much fun in the long term.”
Heidi told us: “I say to my clients – therapy is hard, not easy. It’s not about coming to therapy to fix your problems – it’s about understanding your problems and accepting whatever’s not working for you so you can work on it and move forward.”
“We need to face our problems. When we do we attract the right people and better deal with certain situations.”
“No one wants to experience pain. But when we feel we heal.”
Heidi also says if you are unsure if you are pedestalling, “Ask what you’re getting and giving.”
“It comes down to happiness and satisfaction. Is there something missing? Have I dealt with x y and z from the past?”
Heidi also told us that you may not (necessarily) have to give up the person you are putting on a pedestal. If they are supportive you may be able to work on your stuff at the same time as dating them.
Samantha recommends you “have a reality check” and look at the facts.
“Is this person actually improving your life? Do you feel happier, have more fun in real-time, are they showing you genuine interest and meeting your needs? If it’s one-sided then go and find someone who truly is as interested in you as you are in them.”
“Putting someone on a pedestal is very unhealthy and if you are doing this it’s time to learn to love yourself. Realise what you have to offer. Start with affirmations, looking at all your strengths, your positive points and re-writing your negative beliefs and self talk when it comes up. Get help if you need extra support.”
Got it? Good. All you need to do now is figure out how to navigate the maze of subwaying, zumping and inner circling and you’re good to go…

You can’t just show up at a high-demand New York restaurant. If you’re serious about getting a table, you need a booking.
That’s always been the case. Now there is another requirement you will soon need to satisfy: being vaccinated.
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio announced this on Tuesday, saying that The Big Apple will require proof of vaccination for entry to various indoor activities.
This includes dining inside restaurants, working out in gyms, and going to the movies. The system will work via a form of vaccine passport – the “Key to NYC Pass” which will work in conjunction with a forthcoming app as well as the CDC card given to people when they get jabbed.
Workers at places like gyms and restaurants will also be required to be vaccinated, de Blasio said, with the policy set to come into effect on August the 16th. He added that it will start being enforced on September the 13th.
The sentiment, guided by the city’s efforts to curb the recent rise in Covid-19 ‘Delta’ cases, can be summed up well by a snippet from his press conference: “If you want to participate in our society fully, you’ve got to get vaccinated.”

Many New York residents appeared to be happy with the new rule. On NY Magazine’s announcement of it on Instagram, many chimed in with positive comments.
“Excellent! I’ll show vaccination proof with pleasure,” one wrote.
“Good. People need to be vaccinated,” wrote another.
“I bet that’s a huge relief for staff and patrons alike!!!!”
Another commenter wrote: “I think we should stop catering to the ones screaming the loudest. Meaning the unvaccinated.”
Not everyone was so stoked though.
On Twitter, one man wrote: “No sane person would champion the idea of medical segregation,” and asked “What’s next?”
No sane person would champion the idea of medical segregation. What’s next? Separate bathrooms, water fountains, back of the bus? Or, better yet, maybe a yellow star arm band to identify? We should’ve learned from history.
— Matthew Loop (@matthewloop) August 3, 2021
Another social media user wrote: “I guess a lot of restaurants will soon have to close since they will be losing half of their patrons,” arguably demonstrating the unfortunate politicisation of Covid-19, with many people seeming to reject things like mask-wearing (and in rarer cases vaccination) by inertia.
Another Twitter user wrote: “From the party that’s all about ‘my body my choice’ this is gold.”
“Where is the freedom in all of this.”
In response to comments like this, others pointed out we already do a lot of common-sense things, which are mandated, without thinking about it, and reap the benefits from them.
“If they didn’t mandate childhood vaccinations against measles, mumps, rubella, chicken pox in schools this world and our kids would be in a lot worse shape,” one wrote.
About 60 percent of all New Yorkers are partially vaccinated. The city also recently debuted the world’s most expensive fries, to celebrate (slowly) getting back to something resembling normality.

Conor McGregor’s not the sort of man to let a leg injury – or extremely fragile high-end watch – get in the way of his exercise regime. The 33-year-old MMA champ and ‘face of the fight game’ caused wincing around the world when he got his left tibia (that’s your lower leg bone) shattered by American rival Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 earlier in July. The loss and the injury haven’t left him too stumped, however, with ‘The Notorious’ quick to return to the gym.Except now he’s causing wincing for a whole other reason: his choice of workout watch. Yesterday, McGregor posted some photos and videos of him working out, his leg still in a ‘moon boot’, wearing his Jacob & Co. Astronomia Tourbillon Casino, worth around AU$1 million.

After one group of Australian athletes allegedly acted like “out of control frat boys” on their way out of Tokyo (leaving holes in walls, rooms covered in vomit and broken beds) another group of Australian athletes have now been accused of continuing our country’s proud tradition of behaving badly on planes.
An investigation has now been launched into the alcohol-fuelled behaviour, which was reportedly committed by Australia’s Rugby 7s and football teams on their journey home from the Tokyo Olympics.
According to reports, Japan Airlines has complained to the Australian Olympic Committee following the behaviour on the flight, which landed in Sydney on July the 30th.
“At least one drunk footballer vomited in the plane’s toilet, which couldn’t be used again during the 10-hour flight,” 7 News reports.
Australia’s Olympic team chef de mission Ian Chesterman told reporters in Tokyo it was not yet clear who did it, but that “they did have excessive alcohol consumption” and “they were loud and disruptive to other members of the flight.”
As for the consequences for the behaviour? He said it would be up to Rugby Australia and Football Australia.
Australian Olympic Committee chief executive Matt Carroll told Channel 7 the AOC expected better from the athletes: “It’s not the standard the Australian Olympic Committee expects and not the standard the sports expect too.”
“That’s why I asked the sports themselves, the CEOs, who are very upset about it as you would expect and very displeased with their athletes.”
The integrity units of both sporting bodies are investigating the incident.
This is not the first time Australian athletes have acted up at 40,000ft.
Grant Hackett allegedly groped a male passenger in 2016, while affected by alcohol, telling media at the time he has “stuffed up more than once” and was embarrassed by his actions.
Hacket allegedly grabbed the business-class passenger after he reclined his seat.
As The Sydney Morning Herald reported in 2016, “The swimming champion has since apologised to the passenger… and will donate money to the charity of [his] choice.”
Oh and to cap things off, who could forget the much loved Tasmanian batsman David Boon, who is rumoured to have set the majestic (dangerous) record of 52 beers consumed on Australia’s plane trip to London ahead of the 1989 Ashes series.
According to Fox Sports, Rod Marsh had originally broken Walters’ record, setting the bar at 51 cans, in an effort that saw the wicketkeeper carried off the plane.

Electric vehicles (EVs) are still a rather nascent technology – at least in Australia. Unlike many developed and even developing nations, we’ve been quite slow to adopt EVs, and we’re still trying to wrap our heads around how an electrified future might look like.
The Victorian state government is – not without a great deal of criticism – introducing an EV road-user charge, to make up for the fact they avoid the fuel excise. Most EVs are more expensive to insure than the national average in Australia because insurance companies still say they’re unfamiliar and uncertain of the technology, Mozo relates.
In short, the pace of change is slow. But one benefit of that is that Australians haven’t encountered a growing etiquette issue; one that’s the subject of fierce debate in other countries with a greater market penetration of EVs, as one Reddit thread relates.
The thread on /r/electricvehicles – which has since been ‘nuked’ after VICE wrote an article about it – was started by a disgruntled American motorist who found that around 20 minutes after plugging in his PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle, i.e. it has an electric powertrain with a supplementary petrol/diesel motor), they found that a Tesla owner had parked in front of their car, unplugged their car and started using the charging point themselves.

This kickstarted a wide variety of ethical debates about when it’s appropriate to unplug someone else’s car to charge your own – like the classic trolley problem, but with Porsche Taycans, we suppose.
Is it ‘first come, first serve’ as it would be at the servo (you wouldn’t dream of whipping a petrol pump out of someone’s hands) or does it work on some sort of unspoken priority system? If you have 20% charge and they have 60%, is it ok to swap plugs then?
Part of the debate also raised the PHEV vs. pure EV dichotomy, too. If a PHEV runs out of charge, it has an internal combustion engine (ICE) as backup, so it’s probably going to be ok. If an EV runs out of charge, it’s a much more difficult scenario, therefore should PHEVs defer to EVs when it comes to charging priority?
RELATED: Australia’s Most Beloved Car Engine Is Now An Endangered Species
The VICE article also raised a very salient point: “what we’re really talking about here are Level 2 chargers which take hours to fully charge a vehicle. These will most commonly be found at offices, public parks, municipal buildings, apartments, parking garages, and similar locations.” That is, we’re not talking about fast chargers.

It also highlights that this etiquette problem “exhibits yet another difference between [the] US and Europe electric vehicle infrastructure, because plugs which lock into place are much more common in Europe where drivers supply their own cords for Level 2 chargers. In these chargers, the plug locks into place to prevent plug theft.”
Australia is somewhat in the middle between the US and Europe. While a majority of EVs sold on the Australian market have locking plugs, some older EVs such as the Mitsubishi i-MIEV lack a locking capability entirely.
More to the point, Australia doesn’t really have enough EVs or public charging stations to make this a commonly-encountered etiquette issue… Yet. As more and more EVs inevitably take over our roads, it’s something that we as Australians probably have to take a stand on as a society. Hopefully common sense prevails and the ‘first come, first serve’ rule remains king.
RELATED: Man’s Nightmare Tesla Story Could Be A Worrying Sign Of Things To Come In The Auto Industry
Another issue that neither VICE nor the Reddit thread discussed is how that there’s no unified EV charging plug standard, which further complicates things. Some charging points carry a number of plugs (or you just BYO plug with your car), whereas others might only have a single or a few different types.
Watch A Tesla Model S Plaid Launch From 0-60mph In 1.85sec
In Australia, there’s four main types of plug: J1772 (a.k.a ‘Type 1’), Mennekes (a.k.a ‘Type 2’), CHAdeMO and Tesla.
As Carsales relates, “unlike a petrol bowser, where it is still possible to fill a diesel-powered vehicle with unleaded gasoline (which causes catastrophic engine damage), it’s literally impossible to connect the wrong charger to an electric car in the same way you cannot plug an American or European two-pin electrical device to an Australian three-pin powerpoint. They don’t fit.”
The Type 1 plug is an older, Japanese standard used for vehicles like the aforementioned i-MIEV, Type 2 is the standard fitment for all EVs and PHEVs sold in Australia and CHAdeMO is a less-common format designed for faster charging. Complicated, we know.

There’s also another system called CCS which is available in both Type 1 and 2 formats which allows for DC fast charging. Tesla’s plugs resemble Type 2 plugs but are capable of DC fast charging using Tesla’s Supercharger stations.
Here’s an interesting fact for you: non-Tesla vehicles can’t use Tesla’s Supercharger stations, but Teslas can use any charging station. Now that potentially opens up a whole other etiquette debate…

A woman has allegedly been threatened with being ejected from her Alaska Airlines flight as the aviation industry’s war on crop tops continues.
Though you might expect passengers to be warned about being booted off their flight for crimes like violence, drunk and disorderly behaviour or refusing to wear a mask, this incident is actually the latest in a series of passengers coming under fire for their clothing.
Airlines are of course free to enforce their own dress codes – something TikToker @sierrasteadman acknowledges. But she also says the way Alaska Airlines went about dealing with it was a problem.
Sierra claims she was told to zip up her jacket by a flight attendant (she was wearing a crop top underneath), nodded, and started zipping it up, and continued walking to her seat.
“That should have been the end of that. But instead, she decided to grab my arm and pull me back to her and to start yelling at me in front of everybody. That is where the problem is.”
Watch Sierra explain what happened in the video below
Sierra also shared a statement she says her mum received from the airline after complaining about the incident.
The statement said, among other things, the airline would be conducting an internal investigation.
“From what you have shared, it is apparent that we have failed. You and your daughter should expect nothing less than to be treated with the utmost respect, compassion and care. It is truly disappointing to hear that you did not feel that way during boarding and during interactions with our Flight Attendant.”
This comes just weeks after Deniz Saypinar – a Turkish fitness model and Instagram influencer with 1 million followers – was banned from boarding an American Airlines flight because airport authorities found her outfit offensive.
Both these incidents highlight an issue all carriers face – being out of touch with (some of) their contingent. Or, put another way: evolving attitudes among some (but not all) of their customers, staff and rule-makers about what constitutes acceptable clothing for flights.
This is an issue likely to plague airlines in the coming years, as different demographics will continue to hold different views.
