Well it’s back. Sort of. With the impending arrival of the modern Toyota-BMW Supra, the Japanese motoring company has left nothing to the imagination in its attempts to drum up hype.
Their latest strategy? Turn the Supra into a NASCAR to be raced in the Xfinity Series from 2019. Now before we all get excited about a production Supra entering NASCAR with a six-cylinder turbo engine inherited from BMW, it’s important to note that NASCAR rules stipulate a fixed formula for power and drivetrain. That means the racing version will likely be driven by a big V8 and mated to a 4-speed manual which sends power to the rear wheels. That Supra “body” will indeed just be a shell with faux Supra decals to evoke the production car’s distinctive lines.
Boo. Not to worry though, Toyota Europe recently announced that the real production Supra will officially debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed next week. That’s right, no more concepts.
#ToyotaSupra is back.

You can always trust a bonafide Hollywood action man to teach men how to rock designer sandals without looking like a delicate sunflower (or a modern-day hipster Jesus). That’s exactly what Jason Statham did recently when he stepped out at the 21st Shanghai International Film Festival – a formal red carpet event no less – in a simple black suit paired with a white linen granddad collar shirt and cross strap sandals.RELATED: Cool Designer Sandals That Jesus Would WorshipThe look was completely unconventional even by foreign standards but it was the way in which Statham wore it that got the Fast & Furious actor over the line. It’s not a look for everyone and you’d need to check how flexible the dress code was before pulling this one off yourself. If you do opt for it, make sure to keep the rest of your outfit clean and simple as a lot of attention will already be drawn to the sandals and you wouldn’t need anymore up top.Later on in the night Statham relaxed the look even further by ditching the blazer and linen shirt for an untucked pinstripe shirt and a navy sports jacket to really nail that cruisey nautical look. Again, take caution with this look as you could easily be thumbing your nose at the dress code and being disrespectful – intentional or not.Just don’t tell Statham his choice in formal footwear sucks…

Unless you plan on discovering the fountain of youth anytime soon, chances are you’re going to begin to show the signs of ageing.
Sooner or later our bodies all succumb to the ravages of ‘Father Time’ and the ‘Dad Bod’. But just because you’re getting older it doesn’t mean you have to show it.
There are a number of simple measures you can take now to appear younger and simultaneously slow down the ageing process of your skin. Many of these measures will fit into your normal skincare routine while others won’t cost you a cent.
So we’re saying to hell with ageing gracefully. Employ these simple tips to ensure a bright, youthful appearance well into your distinguished years.
Hit Pause On The Beard
We’re advocates of a good beard here but it needs to be said that if you’re after a more youthful look, it’s probably a good idea to crack out the razor regularly. Researchers from Britain’s leading hair transplant centre, Crown Clinic, believe that a growing a beard can make men look up to ten years older. More specifically, the study revealed that even a light stubble can add three years to your perceived age whilst a moustache can up to five years.
So the question you need to ask yourself is do you want to look like a rugged gentleman or an immortal Keanu Reeves? Answer: Why not both. Alternate the looks to keep people guessing. And if that’s still not enough reason for you to keep the beard in check, you should probably take note of the facial hair styles that women absolutely hate.
Moisturise, You Magnificent Bastard
It’s proven that those who suffer from dry skin are more prone to wrinkles and signs of ageing, whereas those with oily skin have less wrinkles and are less prone. Now we aren’t telling you to go out and bath yourself in Vaseline (unless you’re into that stuff); the key point to take away here is to keep your skin moisturised evenly on a regular basis.
A good moisturiser with anti-ageing properties will keep your skin continuously hydrated, which minimises the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, while also bringing vitality to dull and lifeless skin. Kiehl’s Facial Fuel Heavy Lifting Moisturiser will do the hard work of fighting the signs of ageing.
Skin will be moisturised while at the same time increasing the skin’s elasticity and firmness with ingredients such as caffeine, linseed extract and Vitamin C. The inclusion of salicylic acid helps smooth imperfections and tightens skin.
Scrub Away Those Years
A build up of dead skin cells over time gives the skin a dull, lifeless look. As you get older, dead skin cells multiply and do not shed naturally or as quickly as they once did. It’s important to scrub away these dead skin cells manually to allow new, younger cells to reach the surface and provide a brighter and youthful appearance.
When purchasing a face scrub or even a face wash for anti ageing purposes, look for the ingredient hydroxy acid – this ingredient smooths fine lines and assists in the shedding of dead skin. Give Lab Series Invigorating Face Scrub a go at removing the build up of dead skin cells whilst also unclogging pores.
This scrub includes menthol which when applied to the skin stimulates blood flow, improving its appearance and speeding up the skin’s natural shedding process.
Focus Around The Eyes
For the purposes of anti-ageing, the eyes aren’t a window to the soul – they are a glaring indication of getting and looking older. Given the delicate nature of the skin around the eyes, they are always the first to show the signs of ageing.
Crow’s feet, wrinkles, dark spots and bags under the eyes are all factors that will make you look older. Shiseido Men Deep Wrinkle Corrector will help out those aged peepers.
Containing the miracle anti-ageing ingredient of Retinol, this product is designed for the whole face but is particularly effective on the eye area. It ensures a firmer more youthful result while smoothing out wrinkles and fine lines perfect for crow’s feet.
Hit The Snooze Button
Sticking with tired looking eyes, we can’t stress the importance of getting enough sleep to help fight the signs of ageing. For the purposes of anti ageing, the term “beauty sleep” is all too real and ideally you should be getting 7-9 hours of rest a night to reap the benefits.
The body and more importantly your skin repairs itself while you rest so be sure to hit the pillow hard to maintain a youthful look.
Slip, Slop, Slap
Excessive sun exposure is a significant contributor to early sings of ageing, causing wrinkles and age spots. Applying sun screen should be a regular part of your daily routine to avoid sunburn and potential skin cancer, an SPF 30 or higher will help to avoid such nasties while also keeping skin from drying out and ageing prematurely.
Apply sun screen at least half an hour before heading outdoors and re-apply when needed for continuous protection. Be sure to wear a pair of well-fitted sunglasses when you’re out as excessive squinting will cause wrinkles to form around the eye area.

Have you ever stopped for petrol and thought: is this ethanol based stuff really saving me enough money to justify this Magnum Ego? We now have the answer.
Basically, it depends on how much you are paying, and what type of car you have. And according to a recent report, 428,0000 Aussie drivers, assuming they are paying standard national prices, would be best advised to avoid E10 petrol—even if it appears cheaper.
“Unless the price difference between ‘regular’ unleaded fuel (also known as 91 RON) and E10 is 4 cents per litre or greater, refuelling with E10 is probably costing you more (ABC).”
Yes: the relationship between fuel and vehicle efficiency depends on many factors (energy content of the fuel, type of car, temperature, humidity, how you drive, etc.). However, as ethanol has a lower energy content than petrol, you won’t get as far on a tank of E10 as you would on a tank of “premium” unleaded.
Which is fine if the price of E10 is low enough. But as fuel price analysis shows, this is often not the case. According to the ABC, “The RACV is currently quoting a 3 cent per litre price differential across Victoria, which means that refuelling with E10 is a false economy for the average motorist.”
Why E10 petrol may not be driving your car, or your dollar, further. FUNNY HOW “REGULAR” UNLEADED FUEL OVERSEAS IS 95 RON, BUT IN OZ THAT’S PREMIUM ULP & YOU GET TO PAY A LOT EXTRA FOR IT! via @ABCNews
— Rik Shepherd (@riktheozfrog) July 4, 2018
But wait: there’s more. The crucial factor that decides whether E10 is a smart choice is how well your car can cope with higher octane fuels. This is because ethanol increases the octane rating of fuels. Whilst most modern vehicles can take advantage of higher octane fuels, older cars (built pre 1986) can’t.

However, 10.7 million modern Australian vehicles can’t take advantage of E10 either, because they require 91 RON fuel as a minimum. And according to the ABC, “At least 40 per cent of these (428,0000) will not derive any benefit from the higher octane provided by E10 at current prices.”
So to stop your salary going up in smoke; make sure you’re putting the right fuel in your tank.

How does one know they’ve made it?
Well here’s a fine example. There was a fancy Chanel fashion show in Paris overnight but eagle-eyed watch goers wouldn’t have batted an eyelid. What they would have noticed was a particular luxury timepiece wrapped around the wrist of Pharrell Williams – a Richard Mille RM 70-01 Tourbillon Alain Prost Watch which retails for an insane US$815,500 and is limited to just 30 pieces worldwide.
Yikes.
Williams paired the extravagant timepiece with a Chanel sweater featuring an integrated collar and contrasting double ‘C’ logo and matching Chanel sunglasses. The look was polished off with cropped denim and polished black lace-ups.
Not a bad look to contrast the perennially monochrome (and now bearded) Karl Lagerfeld.
Pharrell’s million dollar question begs one question though: How should one wear a million dollar watch? Like any other standard watch – duh.
At the recent Parklife music festival Williams was seen rocking the same Richard Mille RM 70-01 Tourbillon Alain Prost on stage with little caution to the wind. We guess when you’ve got that much in the bank, air time and a decent shimmy far outweighs a minor scuff on an exclusive timepiece.
Mr. Williams, we salute you, you crazy talented S.O.B. Scroll down to see how he wore it.

Nervous fliers know the feeling: shaky elbows, white knuckles, sweaty palms—not much makes you feel worse than being flung across the world in a tin can. Except for turbulence. Even the most seasoned business travellers has to fight at least a slight sense of unease as they feel the ground drop from beneath their feet.
However, Richard Tobiano, a Chief Qantas pilot has spoken out against our allegedly irrational fears, saying that turbulence is the “most misunderstood” element of flying. “For pilots,” he said, “It’s an everyday part of our job and nothing to fear. Aircraft are engineered to deal with levels of turbulence well beyond anything you’d realistically encounter.” But for passengers, especially if it’s a sudden jolt, turbulence can be wrongly perceived as a “plunge” or “massive drop,” he said.
Why does it happen? There are a number of factors including; Sudden changes in wind direction and speed (particularly as aircraft climb to their cruising altitude where the air is usually smoother), turbulence associated with dense clouds, and wake turbulence (which QF94 recently experienced over the Pacific Ocean), whereby large jet aircraft disturb the air behind them, similar to the wash from a boat.
In the QF94 he refers to, the affected plane was about 37 kilometres behind (and 1000 feet below) the other Qantas A380 when it, “Encountered some disturbed air.” The two aircraft were well aware of each other, but wake turbulence can be hard to predict and, as such, arrived as a sudden jolt.
“The turbulence lasted for about ten seconds and caused the nose of the aircraft to pitch up slightly,” he said.
However the “plunge” passengers described was actually the A380 immediately returning itself to a steady state. According to Mr Tobiano, QF94 performed, “Exactly as it was supposed to,” in this scenario—and so did its highly-trained crew.
So, when do you have to worry about turbulence? Well, as long as you have your seat belt on, practically never. Of the 60 people injured on average each year by turbulence (US figures), two thirds of them are flight attendants, while the remaining 20 tend to be passengers who, “Fell or were thrown about because they weren’t belted in.” That’s 20 out if the 800 million or so who fly each year.
And with respect to the aircraft, Patrick Smith, US pilot, told The Telegraph, “Everything about turbulence seems dangerous. However, in all but the rarest circumstances, it’s not. For all intents and purposes, a plane cannot be flipped upside-down, thrown into a tailspin, or otherwise flung from the sky by even the mightiest gust or air pocket. Planes are engineered to take a remarkable amount of punishment, and they have to meet stress limits for both positive and negative G-loads.”
“The level of turbulence required to dislodge an engine or bend a wing spar is something even the most frequent flier won’t experience in a lifetime of travelling.”
For pilots, he likened light turbulence (in which the aircraft deviates just a few feet in altitude) to “a bumpy road for a taxi driver or a slightly uneven section of track for a train driver.” As for moderate turbulence, in which the aircraft may be deviating in altitude by 10 or 20 feet, he said this strikes no fear into pilots, “As they will experience this level of turbulence for a few hours in every thousand hours they fly.” It usually lasts for no more than 10 or 15 minutes, he said, but, “Occasionally may last for several hours, on and off.”
“(Moderate) turbulence will unsettle even some regular travellers and will cause drinks to spill… (But) no action is required by the pilot to control the aircraft, (and) the flight crew may decide to try a different altitude if the turbulence persists.”
On the other hand, severe turbulence—in which the aircraft deviates in altitude by up to 100 feet (up as well as down)—is extremely rare. In fact, in a flying career of over 10,000 hours, Patrick Smith has only experienced severe turbulence, “For about five minutes in total.” Whilst he admits it is “extremely uncomfortable,” according to him it is not dangerous.
“I should stress that this level of turbulence is so rare that leisure travellers will almost certainly never experience it and nor will most business people,” he said.
And although it doesn’t make a huge amount of difference, most pilots agree the smoothest place to sit is over the wings, nearest to the plane’s centre of lift and gravity. And for those who like roller coasters, the roughest spots are the rearmost rows closest to the tail.
