DMARGE asked Australia’s leading relationship expert, Samantha Jayne how to deal with a jealous ex whose behaviour could rival the way Kanye West’s treated Pete Davidson and Kim Kardashian…
To state the obvious: breakups are tough. So, when you’ve taken some time to heal from the relationship and then find someone else to move on with, it’s a great feeling… until your ex suddenly comes back into the picture and starts causing problems because of insane jealousy.
Case in point: Kanye West. The Grammy-winning rapper has been non-stop harassing his ex-wife and Pete Davidson – the first man she dated after her divorce from West. When Kardashian and Davidson made their relationship public, West repeatedly took to social media to post derogatory photos and captions relating to Davidson.
He even released the song Eazy which features the lyrics, “Just so I can beat Pete Davidson’s ass (Who?)” and a music video depicting a claymation West essentially murdering a claymation Davidson. And when earlier this month, it was announced that Davidson and Kardashian had broken up, West posted a now-deleted image of a New York Times front page with the fake headline, “SKETE DAVIDSON DEAD AT AGE 28”.
While we hope that none of our readers have ever gone through anything that intense with an ex, we know that jealous exes are a common problem that can lead to serious issues; People reported days ago that Davidson’s allegedly had to go to “trauma therapy” due to “the attention and negativity coming from Kanye”.

DMARGE exclusively spoke to Australia’s leading relationship expert and dating coach, Samantha Jayne and asked for her professional advice when it comes to dealing with a green-eyed ex.
“Okay, if your partner has a jealous ex, as hard as it is, don’t throw fuel on the fire. [You should] ignore them; they are only trying to create drama and sabotage your relationship.”
Samantha Jayne
Samantha further emphasised how important it is to turn a blind eye to a jealous ex because, at the end of the day, it’s their issue to work through, not yours.
“They love drama and are not healthy adults with their thinking and managing emotions. Acting out jealously, dramatically and in public shows immaturity and is embarrassing. [Plus,] if you react and buy into it, then it could backfire on you and make you look unstable.”
Samantha Jayne

“Just know their jealousy is their stuff and likely one of the reasons the relationship ended… Empathise with your [current] partner, focus on your [current] relationship and calmly put clear boundaries into place.”
Samantha did say though that if your ex’s acts of jealousy become extremely intense, you may have to get law enforcement involved.
“If they continue to act out or [things] escalate, then sometimes a third party, such as the police, are good to get involved. Sometimes a simple phone call from the authorities is enough to put a stop to jealous acts of harassment and drama.”
Samantha Jayne
Well, there you have it. If your ex is causing you and your current partner problems Kanye West-style, just ignore them as best as you can. Or if you feel that your ex’s behaviour is over-the-top, call your local police station and ask for help.

The cruise ship industry (bar the curse of COVID) has reinvigorated its image in recent years. Thanks to innovations like Virgin Voyages and the frolicking social media antics of companies like Sail Croatia, cruising has shed a little of its old and crusty reputation and gained a little more sheen in the eyes of younger people. But there are still a few downsides to cruising that most cruise companies probably don’t want you to see.
Imagining the ideal cruise goes one of two ways. One: you imagine sunbathing on a spacious deck, swimming in a sparsely populated pool and drinking cocktails in a sedate setting with friends, or your partner. Two: you imagine a suave piss up with your mates (or with new mates) in some Mediterranean archipelago.
But according to various videos posted to social media by cruise ship passengers, cruising still has its grim elements. Besides open ocean swells making those on-deck pools you’ve been dreaming of have waves of their own (read: making them unsafe to swim in) and giant crowds of people milling around ruining that Instagram shot you’ve held for so long in your mind’s eye, there are also such factors as wind and rain.
WATCH: Passenger Shows Off ‘Instagram vs. Reality’ Of A Cruise Ship
Starting off basic, one TikTok user, jimmyhrs, shared the wild, windy conditions he ended up cruising in for his partner’s birthday, and how that differed from his sun-drenched expectations (“it will be fun, they said,” he captioned the video).
TikTok user pautips, for their part, shared footage of pouring rain, and expressed their shock at finding Miami is not always sunny. Ouch. TikTok user werdtravels, for their part, shared a video in which a big swell made the water jump out of the pool on their cruise ship, making it unsafe to swim in.
Insider writer Joey Hadden made a similar observation in July, after going on a trip on the largest cruise ship in the world. Joey wrote: “When I booked my first cruise aboard Royal Caribbean’s Wonder of the Seas, I expected breathtaking views of the world between relaxing swimming and sunbathing sessions.”
Instead, Joey found the experience wasn’t all that good, writing: “I sunbathed in a loud, crowded pool area when I was lucky enough to find a chair. I spent more time waiting in lines than I had anticipated. And I saw much of the world from behind other people’s heads.”
It’s not all doom and gloom though. Another cruise ship passenger, who goes by the TikTok username polkadotpassport, says there are a number of things that actually exceeded her expectations the first time she went on a cruise.
On a seven-day river cruise down the Danube she realised it wasn’t actually all “oldies.” Though she recognised this may have been because she was on the active and discovery package, she still said “there was actually lots of people our age.”
She also said that she thought being on a cruise would mean missing out on all the delicious local cuisine, but “it turned out the chefs on board made all the local specialities wherever we were stopped and… it was so fricking good.”
Finally, she thought she’d be forced onto walking tours wherever they docked but was pleasantly surprised to find they had the option to “go off and do your own thing and explore at your own pace.”
Maybe the stereotypes aren’t all they’re cracked up to be, after all?

It’s taken a global pandemic, a topsy-turvy economy and Russia invading Ukraine but Australian property prices are finally starting to fall – yet rent is going in the opposite direction, and this is just the tip of the iceberg…
To keep a lid on inflation, the Reserve Bank of Australia has increased interest rates for the fourth month in a row – after keeping rates flat at a record low 0.1% since November 2020. While this hasn’t had the instantaneous effect on property prices that many had hoped, we’re now starting to see prices fall across the country (from record highs, mind).
You’d think that this would mean rent would start to fall too. But it isn’t. Quite the opposite, in fact. House prices might be dropping at their fastest pace since the 2008 global financial crisis – with notoriously expensive Sydney seeing the sharpest value falls in over four decades among Australian capitals – rents are going up at a historically rapid clip, ABC News reports.
It’s terrible news for renters, especially considering how much the cost of living has risen in recent months. Supermarket trips have never been more expensive. Why is this happening? Essentially, higher interest rates mean larger mortgage payments, which landlords are passing on to their tenants – an unfortunate but predictable result of how overleveraged many property investors are.
But if that wasn’t already bad news, things are about to get even worse, especially as we head into summer and our borders continue to open post-COVID.

Firstly, as international students return to Australia in their thousands, they’ll be looking for rentals, further exacerbating the rental crisis. While their return will certainly benefit the Australian economy in other ways – over 600,000 international students studied in Australia in 2020, worth $37.6 billion to our educational sector alone – but it won’t help Aussies looking for affordable rental properties.
Secondly, as both the domestic and international tourism sectors get back up to speed, more and more properties are likely to move out of the rental sector to Airbnb and the tourism sector, further driving up rent.
RELATED: Want To Stay At These Australian Mansions? That’ll Be $100,000 A Week, Please
Let’s take the Gold Coast as an example. According to Real Estate Investar, the median rent for houses on the Gold Coast is $650 per week and the average rental yield is around 4-5% (not fantastic). In comparison, short-term rentals on the Gold Coast on Airbnb and Vrbo average $3290 in monthly revenue, according to Airdna.
Sure, you’re comparing a 99% occupancy rate for a traditional rental versus 61% for an Airbnb (a pretty killer occupancy rate, actually) – but as a landlord, you’ll make more money doing short-term rentals. Yes, that’s shit for people looking for a place to live, but that’s cold, hard economics.

What’s the solution? Well, things might be grim for the next 12 months but eventually, landlords will get too greedy, Aussie renters will hit a price ceiling and things will settle down. That’s the theory, at least. What really needs to happen is for house prices to keep falling for an extended period, while interest rates stay low.
The more brutal answer is that a lot of people who probably shouldn’t have been property investors won’t be able to service their mortgages and properties will foreclose… And a lot of average Aussies who are looking for a place to rent will need to make some serious sacrifices.
Save your avocado on toast jokes.

A new limited series arriving on Stan will be a dramatisation of the deadly Bali bombings of 2002, which recorded the greatest loss of Australian life due to a terror attack. Here’s when it will be released in Australia and how you can watch it.
When were the Bali bombings?
The Bali bombings occurred on the 12th of October 2002 in the district of Kuta in Bali, about a 10-minute drive from the Ngurah Rai International Airport. The bombings killed 202 people, which included 88 Australians – the highest number of casualties of any nationality – 38 Indonesians, 23 Britons, and people of more than 20 other nationalities. 209 others were injured as a result of the bombings.
How did the bombings occur?
Members of the Jamaah Islamiyah Islamist group were convicted as a result of the bombings, which saw three bombs in total being detonated. One carried inside a backpack by a suicide bomber, a large car bomb and a third that was detonated outside the United States consulate in Denpasar.
The first bomb, carried in a backpack by a suicide bomber, was detonated at 11.05 pm on 12 October 2002 inside the Paddy’s Club nightclub. Just 20-seconds later, the large car bomb, hidden inside a white Mitsubishi van was detonated outside the Sari Club.
The car bomb was so large – it weighed around 1,020kg – and so powerful that it left a one-metre crater in the road and destroyed many neighbouring buildings. Both bombs were detonated during one of Kuta’s busiest tourist periods.
The third bomb only caused minor injuries to one person and caused minimal property damage.
Aftermath of the Bali bombings

As a result of the Bali bombings, a permanent memorial was built on the site of Paddy’s Pub, which bears the names of all those who lost their life on the night, along with their nationality. Every year since the bombings, the Balinese people hold a 9-day-long event to pay their respects to all those who lost their lives.
Other memorials have been constructed around Australia. In Melbourne, a water fountain memorial can be found in Lincoln Square that features 88 jets of water to represent the 88 Australians who died. On the anniversary of the bombings each year, the fountain shuts off and becomes a reflecting pool.
In Perth, a memorial dedicated to the Western Australians who died is found on the ridge of Mount Eliza in Kings Park. The memorial frames the sun’s rays at dawn on the 12th of October each year and even faces the exact direction of Bali.
In Sydney, memorials for the Bali bombings can be found on the northern side of Coogee Beach and in Peryman Square in Cronulla dedicated to seven women from the Sutherland Shire who died.
A granite cube memorial has been built in the Eastern Formal Gardens of Parliament House in Canberra, and a stone memorial can be found in Allambe Memorial Park in Nerang on the Gold Coast, which includes a plaque with the names of the 88 Australians who died.

Should your split your rent and bills evenly with your partner? According to a viral TikTok, no – especially if you earn much more (or much less) than your partner.
Moving in with a partner is a big step in any relationship. But it usually makes or breaks the couple – especially when it comes to the financing.
Everyone has different money habits and goals but it’s important in a relationship to be on the same (or at least a similar) page. Therefore, most couples tend to split their rent and bills evenly because it’s simple and it’s equal.
However, a recent TikTok is going viral because it highlights that couples who live together don’t necessarily have to split their costs right down the middle. The video, posted by TikTok user findingmimivlogs, explains that she and her partner practice equity, not equality.
What is equity? You may be familiar with the famous infographic (see below) that highlights equality is giving the same resources to everyone no matter what, whereas equity is giving different resources that better suit an individual’s needs so that overall an equal outcome is reached.

Findingmimivlogs explains this in her TikTok but then shares why she and her partner have decided not to split rent and bills 50/50 and how they do it instead. “We recognise that we have an income difference. Because of this, the same percentage of our individual income goes toward our shared bills.”
“So, let’s just say hypothetically 20 per cent of my income goes toward our shared bills. That means that 20 per cent of my partner’s income goes towards shared bills as well.”
TikTok user findingmimivlogs
She went on to further explain and wrote, “We have a shared account – multiple actually! We just put the same % of income into our bills account.”
Many TikTok users praised this way of thinking when it comes to sharing costs with a partner. One user wrote, “This makes the most logical sense to me. Unless I was doing [the] majority of the housework and daily tasks, but I do not,” while another simply wrote, “Love this!”
“I really wish my ex did this. We had to get a really small apartment because he insisted on going 50/50 even though he made 2.5x more than I did.”
TikTok user morgzey_
WATCH: A TikTok user explains why she and her partner don’t split bills evenly…
But findingmimivlogs is not alone. Many users shared that they also don’t split rent/bills evenly. “Me and my wife started doing this when we moved in together. It keeps things fair,” wrote TikTok user justindebel.
“This is what me and my partner do! I just became the primary breadwinner so we re-arranged and I contribute more to our bills!”
TikTok user paoo_paao
Of course, not everyone agreed and some TikTok users shared that they don’t and won’t use this method. One user commented, “My girl and I pay everything 50/50,” while user johnnybeer8 is clearly living the trophy husband dream and wrote, “My wife pays for everything.”
While TikTok is incredibly entertaining, and we think findingmimivlogs makes a good point, whenever you see information being spread on the social media platform, it should be taken with a grain of salt. And so, DMARGE exclusively spoke to Samantha Jayne, dating expert and advisor to The Bachelor Australia, for her professional input.

“Oh, the ugly 50/50 ‘let’s split the bill’ scenario can be a real chemistry killer and is appropriate in some scenarios and tasteless in others.”
Samantha Jayne
Samantha then clarified that splitting rent and bills equally can work for some couples – especially young couples who are new to living together – but splitting rent and bills equitably should definitely be considered for partners who are “serious about a life together”. Samantha also said housework and chores should be taken into account when deciding whether splitting bills equally is fair.
“If one partner works longer hours, that partner may not be able to contribute to the cooking or chores as much, so they may choose to pay a large portion of expenses because they appreciate their partner taking care of them with their acts of service.”
Samantha Jayne
At the end of the day, Samantha says communication is key to a healthy relationship; “Money is a difficult topic, it’s always better to be transparent.”
So, if you and your partner are able to sit down and openly talk about your finances, it doesn’t really matter whether you split your rent and bills in an equal or equitable way – as long as your method suits you both and makes you both happy, you’re golden.

Paddy ‘The Baddy’ Pimblett has quickly become one of the UFC’s brightest stars thanks to his skills in the ring and his hilarious, outspoken personality. His latest, most intriguing take? It’s the diet that’s the hardest part about his job.
The 27-year-old Liverpudlian, who’s been touted as “the next Conor McGregor“, shared a video of a post-fight interview on his social media where he candidly explains how he finds the insane weight loss ‘cutting’ regimes he has to go through between fights the really challenging part about fighting in the UFC.
“We get paid to weigh in. I don’t get paid to fight, even though I do… I like punching people in the face and getting punched in the face, it doesn’t bother me. It’s the 7-10 week diet that bothers you.”
“Mentally, it’s a battle. People don’t understand all that bit… The battle’s on like 6 weeks out when you start a diet.”
Paddy Pimblett
WATCH Paddy explain his philosphy behind dieting and fighting below.
It’s an interesting way of looking at the business of combat sports – and perhaps one that many men struggling with their own diets can relate to.
RELATED: Nutrition Coach Exposes The Real Problem With Your ‘Modern Diet’
It must be said that part of Paddy’s diet struggles comes from his own lifestyle choices. Paddy’s long been open about how he’d rather live a normal life between fights and not be constantly watching his weight.
“I just enjoy life lad, you know what I mean,” he said during an ESPN interview in June.
“I don’t want to be ripped all the time. I’m not one of these people lad… Look at my body, look at my shape. I don’t care what my body looks like. No matter what, I can fight.”
Paddy Pimblett

Paddy competes in the the UFC’s lightweight division, which contains competitors within the 146 to 155lbs (66 to 70kgs) weight range… But his weight flucutuates greately between weigh-ins, with the Englishman hitting a high of 202lbs (92kgs) earlier this year.
Paddy’s also said that he gets fat-shamed regularly and claims some images of him looking overweight have, in fact, been Photoshopped.
We just think he’s a bloody legend. His candour about his dieting struggles is refreshing – and it also demonstrates that sometimes it’s truly mind over matter when it comes to fitness.

The first look at Johnny Depp’s first feature film role in three years has been released, along with many other details about the film itself.
It’s been just over two months since Johnny Depp won the infamous defamation lawsuit he filed against his ex-wife Amber Heard. And now, fresh from his victory, the actor/musician is once again focusing on his career.
According to Deadline, Depp has begun filming for Jeanne du Barry, an upcoming drama film based on the life of Jeanne Bécu – best known for being King Louis XV’s last official mistress. Depp will star as Louis XV; which marks his first feature film role in three years.

The production company behind Jeanne du Barry, Why Not Productions, even shared the first look at Depp playing Louis XV, and in true Depp fashion, he looks almost unrecognisable (of course, that’s probably because of the blindfold that’s covering half of his face).
Maïwenn, whose film Polisse won the Jury Prize at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival, is directing Jeanne du Barry. She will also star opposite Depp as the titular character.
At this stage, there’s no telling when Jeanne du Barry will be released but we’re guessing it’ll most likely hit cinemas in late 2023 or early 2024, as filming will wrap in October of this year. After he’s finished filming for Jeanne du Barry, it’s unlikely that Depp will book another feature film role for at least some time though.

This is because the actor’s band The Hollywood Vampires announced earlier this year on Instagram that Depp, alongside other band members Joe Perry, Alice Cooper and Tommy Henriksen, plan to tour Germany and Luxembourg in June 2023.
So it’s likely that once Depp has finished with Jeanne du Barry, he will be too busy rehearsing for The Hollywood Vampires tour to star in another film. Sorry, Pirates of the Caribbean fans but it may be a long time before Depp returns to the franchise…
