GOAT Quarterback Tom Brady To Produce & Star In New Film
GOAT Quarterback Tom Brady To Produce & Star In New Film

The legendary Tom Brady, who recently announced that he was retiring after playing in the National Football League for an impressive 22 seasons, seems to have his eyes now firmly set on Hollywood.

According to Variety, Brady, the seven-time Super Bowl champion, has signed on to produce and play himself in the upcoming film, Eighty For Brady. Inspired by a true story, the film will follow four best friends – who are also all avid New England Patriots fans – as they embark on a trip to see their idol, Brady, play at the Super Bowl LI game.

The four friends will be played by the iconic actresses Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda, Rita Moreno & Sally Field. Eighty For Brady is, of course, set in 2017, the year Super Bowl LI took place; a great choice as that football game featured one of the best moments in Brady’s entire career – the Atlanta Falcons were up by 25 points but Brady brought the Patriots back up, which allowed them to win the championship game.

According to IMDb, Eighty For Brady will be a drama; but will surely have some comedic moments considering Tomlin and Fonda’s knack for comedy. And Kyle Marvin, co-writer and star of the critically acclaimed film, The Climb, is set to direct the film.

Eighty For Brady, surprisingly, isn’t Brady’s first foray into the film industry; in 2020, he launched 199 Productions – a multi-platform content company – that allowed Brady to partner with Joe & Anthony Russo (the guys who directed Avengers: Endgame) and produce a documentary called Unseen Football; although that hasn’t been released yet.

As for Eighty For Brady, it’s currently in development, so there’s been no announcement on when the movie will begin filming or when it will be released but hopefully, it’ll be in theatres sooner rather than later!

American Couple’s Remarkable Fitness Transformation Shows The Power Of Incremental Changes
American Couple’s Remarkable Fitness Transformation Shows The Power Of Incremental Changes

An American couple has taken to TikTok to share a fitness transformation that has left their followers astounded.

Natasha started off at 233.4 pounds, according to one video on her channel, further back in her “postpartum journey.”

She then lost 86 pounds, she revealed in further videos. Then, in one of her latest clips, she says that between herself and her partner combined, they have now lost 155 pounds.

“Congratulations on your hard work…you both look amazing,” one TikTok user wrote. “You guys both look like 20 years younger… congratulations,” said another.

“They went from looking in their 40s to looking in their 20s,” another TikTok user said.

Another asked: “How did you think to film all of these before videos??” Natasha responded: “I knew it would happen.”

“Congrats I hope it makes u both happy and u didn’t just do it cause people told u to,” another follower wrote.

Natasha, in previous clips, attributes her change to incremental details.

“Stop focussing on all the things you can’t do, and start focussing on all the things you can add in order to lose weight,” she said.

“Instead of: ‘I can’t eat this, I can’t eat that, I’m on a diet,’ change your thinking. What are some things you can start doing? Start drinking a glass of water first thing in the morning right when you wake up. Start going for a 10-minute walk every day. Make your first item of every meal a vegetable.”

“When you get good at all those things you can expand on it. You can start drinking a glass of water before all your meals and first thing in the morning. You can increase your walks to 20 mins a day, you can eat an entire serving of vegetables at all your meals.”

“The best way to get started is just to start small.”

Don’t Buy A Suit Until You Know These Crucial Tips About Cloth & Thread Count
Don’t Buy A Suit Until You Know These Crucial Tips About Cloth & Thread Count

Deciding what fabrics is best when it comes to buying a suit is important – and complicated. The fact of the matter is, suits symbolise sophistication and offer a chance to showcase personal style.

A suit should be chosen – not simply for its superior fit or luxurious touch – but also for the fabric from which it was crafted. Of course cost also plays a big part in the suit buying process so it’s imperative to know what you’re getting. It could save you hundreds or thousands in the long run.

What To Consider When Buying A Suit

There are only a handful of fabrics designed for suiting, which makes the decision easier, but certain factors must be considered when buying the perfect one.

Breathability Of The Fabric

In summer, the fight is on against the sweaty-back. Then old man winter blows on in and the casual stroll to work turns into a run, brought on by sheer determination to keep warm for the chilling cold.

Fabric Softness

Fabric softness is another factor. Who wants to be enraged by itchy suit pants? Or feel trapped, tight and unable to move because of an over-starched jacket that is likely to snap if pushed too hard?

Your Suit Fabric & Pattern Choices

The solution for most men is an education in suit fabrics. May cloth and thread count awareness be your guiding light in the sartorial race.

Wool

Wool is the most popular fabric choice for men due to its versatility and refined aesthetic. Wool is a natural material, which means it breathes well, and can be worn both in the heat of the day or the cool of the night. It is soft and wrinkle free but is sometimes criticised by those wanting lighter, more slimming fabrics. Common wool types include tweed, flannel, cashmere, merino and worsted.

Worsted

Worsted wool is a compact textile that is smooth and boasts a high durability. Most wool requires that the natural fibre be spun. But not worsted. Instead, the wool is first combed in a carding process to remove any short and brittle fibres. This leaves only the longer strands of the fibre to undergo the spinning process, producing a smooth toughness. Worsted can be woven in a number of ways, producing flannel, tweed, gabardine and fresco cloths.

Cashmere

Cashmere, on its own or as a blend, is rather luxurious but can give an unwanted shine to a suit. Depending on whether you want something fancily European or not, cashmere may not be suitable for work. But for pleasure? Always.

Tip: Choose wool as an all-year option for suits. Best for slimmer men and those wanting a more luxurious look (especially cashmere) for work wear, as well as formal occasions.

Cotton

Cotton is the second most popular fabric for suits and is derived from plant fibres. Cotton suits move and breathe well but tend to crease easily, which can make the suit look sloppy. They are satisfactory when it comes to softness but lag behind in the luxury department when compared to wool fabrics.

Tip: Choose cotton in the spring, summer and autumn. Suits all body types and those wanting a semi-formal look to outdoor events.  For work, choose reasonably heavy cotton or wool/cotton blend as this helps the fabric retain its silhouette.

Linen

Linen suits are super lightweight and maintain their coolness in soaring temperatures. However, linen wrinkles easily and stains even easier, meaning it requires regular dry cleaning to maintain a fresh, crisp look.

Tips: Choose linen in the summer. Best worn as a more casual alternative to cotton or wool. Suits larger body types to be worn at semi-formal events but never to the office.

Polyester

Polyester is made from synthetic materials (not natural like wool) and is deemed lower quality. It usually comes blended with another fibre, such as wool, in order to cut costs. Suit fabrics that are made from polyester tend to wrinkle (more than wool but less than linen) and have a reputation for not breathing very well.  Polyester produces more fabric shine compared to wool and cotton, making the suit look cheap.

Tip: Polyester should only be worn in spring and autumn to avoid extreme temperatures. Opt for a blend with wool to increase quality and wearability to formal events. Suits most body types for dressy casual events and office wear.

Silk

Derived from insects, silk is an animal protein typically used by moths to build cocoons. Silk offers superior comfort and is much more expensive than polyester to produce. It is a breathable fabric and a natural temperature regulator, helping the body retain heat in cold weather while excess heat is expelled in warm weather.

Tips: Silk can be worn in spring, summer, autumn and winter. Suits most body types and is perfect for luxurious events.

Velvet

Velvet is a closely woven fabric of silk, cotton and nylon. For suiting, velvet mostly applies to the smoking jacket. The texture of velvet is luxurious to touch and it is breathable. But due to its blending with nylon, is less aerated than silk.

Tips: Velvet is great for a dinner party jacket to be worn all year.  Keep it away far, far away from the office.

Cloth Weight

Even if you’ve mastered the Gospel of Suit Fabrics, thread count and cloth weight remains another matter. According to Thomas Pink, Britain’s leading suit connoisseur, here are you’re your typical fabric weights, as well as what type of suit and season they are most suitable for:

  • 7oz – 9oz: Lightweight. Ideal for the peak of summer here. Think African plains hot.
  • 9.5oz – 11oz: Light to mid weight. Perfect for moving from spring to summer and late summer to autumn. Cause we all love awkward transitions.
  • 11oz – 12oz: Mid weight. Perfect as the go-to fabric weight for most days. Choose this for your first suit purchase.
  • 12oz – 13oz: Heavier mid weight. A satisfactory choice for daily wear, though maybe a little too hot to handle in the peak of summer.
  • 14oz – 19oz: Heavy. Great on a cold autumn or winter’s day. Warmth made easy.

Final Words

Suits can be an expensive investment, so it is important to get it right. Identify what season you plan to wear it, your body type, and level of comfort you are looking for. From there, you can’t go wrong.

Audi’s New Electric Sports Car Leaves Australian Luxury Buyers With Quite The Predicament
Audi’s New Electric Sports Car Leaves Australian Luxury Buyers With Quite The Predicament

Despite the government dragging their feet on policy and most car brands still playing hard-to-get when it comes to some of their coolest models, there’s never been a more exciting time for Australians who are into electric cars… And now, Audi’s just added further fuel to the fire (or would a pun about an ‘electrifying announcement’ be more appropriate?)

Yesterday, the high-end German marque shared their first local preview of their new e-tron GT, their new flagship electric vehicle and performance car. This is a car that Aussies have been hotly anticipating for months, so to see one in the flesh and to hear that they’re finally hitting showroom floors come September was music to our ears.

The lithe Gran Turismo is the German brand’s first all-electric sports car and easily the electric vehicle we’re most looking forward to driving this year. The muscular, low-slung four-door looks even better in person than it does in photos, and while we weren’t able to get it out on the road (the car used for the reveal, the only one they have in the country, is a left-hand drive engineering evaluation vehicle) we’re more than a little excited.

But news of the e-tron GT’s arrival – especially the confirmation of local specs and pricing – has presented one hell of a predicament for well-heeled Australian motoring enthusiasts. Those in the know will probably see where we’re going with this…

The first Audi RS e-tron GT in Australia at the vehicle’s local preview yesterday. The colour, ‘Tactical Green’, is an RS exclusive, and the vehicle also features an optional black exterior package. Image: Audi Australia

In case you didn’t know, the Audi e-tron GT is based on the J1 Performance platform, which is shared with the Porsche Taycan. According to Autobild, 40% of its parts are identical to those used in the Taycan – not surprising, considering how much parts sharing there is in the Volkswagen Group, and how modular modern EV designs are.

While it would be foolish to call the Taycan and e-tron GT the same car (because they’re really not), the comparison between the two considering how similar they are is inevitable. And that’s where the predicament lies, especially when you consider the RS e-tron GT. Do you buy the Porsche or the Audi? Let’s break it down.

The e-tron GT range is pretty easy to wrap your head around, as it’s just the e-tron GT and then the sportier RS model. The Taycan is a little less straightforward, with 8 different spec levels and two different body styles (the sedan and then the station wagon-esque CrossTurismo). Let’s focus on the two top-spec models: the Audi RS e-tron GT and the Porsche Taycan Turbo S.

The Audi makes 440kW (475 in boost mode), 830Nm of torque and does 0-100km/h in 3.3 seconds. This officially gives it the highest power output of any Audi ever made. The Porsche, however, makes 460kW (560 in boost mode), 1,050Nm and rockets from 0-100 in 2.8 seconds – although, as we found out for ourselves, that’s a bit of a conservative figure.

A Porsche Taycan Turbo S in White on the prowl in The Rocks, Sydney. Image: DMARGE

Of course, up the pointy end of the performance car market, 0.5 seconds is an eternity. But 3.3 seconds is still unbelievably fast. For perspective, that’s faster than a standard Lamborghini Huracán or Audi R8, while also being able to carry four or more passengers in comfort. It’s also faster than the Taycan GTS (but slower than the next model up, the Turbo).

RELATED: Audi Slams The Door On Electric Vehicle Haters With ‘Continent-Spanning’ Experiment

Where the RS e-tron GT shines is its value proposition. Pricing for the Audi starts at $249,700 compared to $345,800 for the Taycan Turbo S. And you really have to ask yourself, is the Porsche worth the almost six-figure price increase?

There are many other reasons why you might consider the Audi over the Porsche. Subjectively, the Audi’s interior appeals more to me, with its angular, driver-focused design and more physical switchgear compared to the Porsche’s double-touchscreen approach. Objectively, the Audi has a superior warranty and servicing schedule. The list goes on.

This is by no means to rag on the Porsche. I still think the Taycan Turbo S is the best car I’ve ever driven, and for the most part, a Porsche customer and an Audi customer are two fundamentally different people. But it’s definitely something to think about.

Watch the Audi RS e-tron GT out for a winter drive on the streets of Hamburg below.

Indeed, that’s really the core of the issue. Audi has always been a brand that appeals to the ‘logical’ buyer. That’s what the R8 did so well back in the day: why buy a Lambo when you can get the same V10 plus German build quality in a better-looking car for a far more competitive price? Now, in 2022, the e-tron GT offers the same proposition when compared to its Porsche siblings.

The allure of a Porsche badge will no doubt be too tempting for some Aussies – and we haven’t even begun to consider high-performance EVs from outside the Volkswagen Group, such as the BMW i4 M50 or Tesla Model S – but this much is true: the Audi e-tron GT is a very exciting car, especially in RS spec, and it will no doubt shake up the EV and performance market when deliveries start in September.

Well, that’s as long as we don’t have any more cargo ship fires…

Secret Sydney Waterfall Goes Nuclear As Rain Deluge Continues
Secret Sydney Waterfall Goes Nuclear As Rain Deluge Continues

Maddens Falls – an easily accessible, but, due to its low-key nature, relatively little-known (or as some TikTok users have put it, “secret”) waterfall in Sydney’s south – has gone nuclear after this week’s rampaging rain.

Instagram account @naturalattractionnsw today posted footage of the waterfall flowing real hard to their Instagram story.

In the video above, in which we have compiled @naturalattractionnsw’s video of the waterfall going wild after today and yesterday’s rain, and TikTok user xistfilm’s video of the waterfall on more of a normal day, you can see the difference a month’s worth of rain falling in mere hours can make.

@naturalattractionnsw confirmed to DMARGE the video was taken today.

Senior meteorologist Jonathan How told Today: “We are likely to see showers continue into the weekend with another 10 to 20mm over the next few days but for those across Sydney we’re expecting showers to continue all the way into late next week.”

He also said we’re in for another week and a half of wet, cool weather: “Thankfully, over the next few days the rain won’t be quite as heavy but the ground is so saturated so take care in low-lying areas.”

Maddens Falls is in Darkes Forest (which is a 15-minute drive from Stanwell Park), and, according to NSW National Parks and Wildlife Services, is “a great reward after a long bushwalk and the perfect place for birdwatching and photography.”

Left: @explorensw_au. Right: @_joshfalls

Stanwell Park is about an hour’s drive south of Sydney’s CBD.

You’re probably better off giving Maddens Falls a miss in these absolutely torrential conditions though. As a DMARGE correspondent recently discovered – chasing waterfalls can be treacherous…

Home Chef’s Genius Bacon Cooking Hack Will Change How You Fry Forever
Home Chef’s Genius Bacon Cooking Hack Will Change How You Fry Forever

There are two schools of thought when it comes to bacon. Some people prefer the juicy, porky goodness that is back (or ‘middle’) bacon. Others prefer the crispy delight of a good piece of side (or ‘streaky’) bacon. We can all agree that bacon is fantastic, but it’s also surprisingly easy to stuff up.

Often when you order side bacon, you end up with either annoyingly flabby rashers or burnt-to-a-crisp pieces of carbon. Nailing perfectly crispy bacon is a bit of a dark art… Or you have to resign yourself to baking rashers in the oven for what feels like an eternity.

Thankfully, all our crispy bacon prayers have been answered. One enterprising American home chef has come up with a rather counter-intuitive yet seemingly sure-fire way to get perfectly crispy bacon while pan-frying, every time. The secret? Just a little bit of H2O.

Chris ‘Flavor God’ Wallace, a skilled cook who’s gained a sizeable social media following and produces a range of ‘Flavor God’ seasoning mixes, shared his bacon hack on TikTok. After lining up his rashers in a nonstick pan, using a kettle he pours a small amount of water over the bacon. The results have to be seen to be believed. [Watch below.]

“OK before you yell at your phone, hear me out,” he says in the video.

“Adding water to your bacon while cooking does two things: it makes crispy bacon and also keeps your bacon from splattering.”

His method is pretty simple: just add enough water to cover the bottom of the pan and cook over medium-high until the water evaporates. While conventional wisdom would say you need to be careful mixing fats with water like that, Wallace has pointed out that the water cooks off before any fat renders to liquid.

RELATED: ‘Beef & Fire’: The Savage Steak Cooking Technique Every Man Should Know

Commenters have suggested that another way to achieve similar results is simply to run your bacon rashers under water before adding them to your pan. Either way, we’re pretty keen to try this out for ourselves.

The other advantage of this method is that it makes it easier to clean your pan afterwards. Quick, crispy bacon that you don’t have to spend so much time cleaning up after? Surely this is a gift from the gods…

You Should Never Change Seats Before Takeoff. Otherwise, This Could Happen
You Should Never Change Seats Before Takeoff. Otherwise, This Could Happen

Discovering an empty row of seats in economy is like discovering $100 in an old pair of jeans. It’s a bit of a score. But despite every instinct telling you to lay claim to it as soon as possible, you shouldn’t.

The reason why was recently explained by a flight attendant who goes by the (TikTok) username of @serenityhaley1.

Haley says: “So here’s a quick little fun fact about planes. And here’s why you shouldn’t change your seat without asking a flight attendant.”

“Before takeoff we always do what’s called a weight and balance just to make sure the weight is good on the plane and the balance is ok for takeoff so when you change your seats your [sic] actually changing the balance of the plane so make sure you always ask just in case.”

She captioned the video: “I was surprised to learn this during training.”

One TikTok commenter wrote: “The average weight assigned to each passenger by the FAA is 200 pounds for men, 179 pounds for women and 76 pounds for children under 13.Mar 15, 2018.”

Another thanked Haley for clarifying, writing: “I did ask a flight attendant once if I could change seats, she said not until after take off. Now I know why. Thanks.”

Another said: “I worked regional & ppl did this it always throw off the W&B then they’d think I was lying about it. It happens on big planes too w/ light loads.”

“A single person may not be so much trouble, but if multiple people do it adds up, particularly problematic on small aircraft.”

TikTok user @Lucas19

Others jumped in with questions like: “So why is it when people move around to use the lav the plane doesn’t tilt over? but yet a seat change makes all the difference?”. One TikTok user responded to this by saying: “Because the aircraft is always auto trim when in flight – ie: wings and tail are keeping the aircraft stable.”

There you have it: that’s why you shouldn’t change seats until after takeoff.

Being Your ‘Authentic Self’ Is Not An Excuse To Be A D*ck
Being Your ‘Authentic Self’ Is Not An Excuse To Be A D*ck

In a recent Married At First Sight episode, one of the contestants, Andrew Davis, made an interesting comment to his bride, Holly Greenstein.

Andrew told Holly that he’s “a very sexual person”, he’s had “roughly 350 sexual partners” and she would greatly “benefit from” his experience in the bedroom. Holly reacted to this rather impertinent information with nothing but grace.

Holly then shared that she wanted to have a baby sooner rather than later as her egg count is low due to her age. Andrew initially reacted rather warmly but then quickly started acting like an absolute dick. He distanced himself from Holly, accused her of putting “too much pressure” on him, stopped sleeping in the same bed as her and was, frankly, straight-up cold-blooded towards her.

Holly got very upset when Andrew acted like a dick; behaviour that he called just being his “authentic self”. Image Credit: Nine

When Holly expressed how this behaviour upset her – in a calm and reasonable way – he said he’s “not responsible” for how she feels. Andrew then continued to defend his behaviour by saying “I’m just being me; my authentic self.”

It reminded me of that popular adage ‘if you can’t handle me at my worst, you don’t deserve me at my best’, and it got me thinking whether this proverb that seems to pop up on social media all the time, is actually correct.

Australia’s leading Relationship Expert and Dating Coach, Samantha Jayne thinks the saying’s original meaning has definitely been twisted by people to vindicate their “bad behaviour.”

“It can be an excuse for bad behaviour – especially if someone shows anger and other denigrating behaviours and is very demanding and conditional.

It is awful to be around someone like that… often, it’s a sign of a dysfunctional person with a possible personality disorder.”

However, Samantha does explain the saying’s original meaning – that if someone is not the best version of themself but they’re sincerely trying to improve – is totally valid, and if your partner’s going through a difficult time but doing their best, you should support them.

“If someone is going through a rough patch and they are doing what they can to overcome the hurdle, they may not be their best version [but] it’s okay not to expect perfection… the whole ‘love me, warts and all’ [philosophy], when someone is genuinely trying to better themselves, is okay.”

So, take note: if you’re going through a rough time and take it out on your partner or friends, make sure you apologise and try your darndest not to do it again. But if you just act like a jerk and make hurtful comments, then excuse it by saying you’re just being your ‘authentic self’, don’t be surprised if your partner and/or friends walk away; which is what Samantha advises.

“If someone continually says things that undermine or upset you and you communicate your feelings and you tell them this upsets you and they don’t change, then forget it! Life’s too short to be around someone that makes you feel less than or purposely upsets you.

If someone is their true authentic self at the expense of others then… Raise your standards and find someone that makes you feel good.”

Here’s hoping Holly finds a better partner that makes her feel good, as Andrew has now left her and Married At First Sight, and told Nova’s Fitzy and Wippa he’s already moved on and has a new girlfriend.
