People are taking to Twitter to share the most interesting conversations they’ve had with seatmates on flights. The conversation was sparked by a Tweet by Southwest Airlines, the world’s largest low-cost carrier.
Flights are weird. People who are your ‘type’ suddenly seem more mysterious and attractive. Coffee is suddenly (according to some flight attendants) disgusting and unhygienic to drink. And don’t even think about using the toilet paper.
Crazy. And that’s just the beginning. There are also the armrest wars, dudes editing their own d**k pics and – the worst of the worst – people who recline on short-haul flights. Before we get too doom and gloom, however, there are also positives. Some people fall in love on flights. Some people even end up falling asleep with a stranger’s head on their shoulder. Classy.
And some people have interesting conversations with their seatmates. Speaking of which: Southwest Airlines has taken to Twitter to ask its followers for their most interesting chin wags. And the people of The Internet have delivered.
What is the most interesting conversation you have had with a seatmate on a flight?
— Southwest Airlines (@SouthwestAir) May 20, 2022
One emotional story was offered by a Twitter user called Michael (username: @LoneStarYinzer). Michael wrote: “It’s three days before Christmas. I’m headed home from a client. One of the first ones on the plane. Lady sits down next to me holding a plastic bag. She’s clearly had something happen to her, you can tell she’s done a lot of crying. Something’s off…”
Michael continued, explaining how he thought the woman was going to be a pain in the ass, but actually kindled a connection with her and helped make her day a little bit better, as she was going through a rough time.
“Flight attendant comes over and tells her that she can’t hold onto the bag, needs to go into the overhead bin. ‘No, this bag is NEVER going into that bin.’.”
“It’s 6 AM and I’m thinking ‘great, this lady is going to cause a fuss and make us late’…”
Twitter user @LoneStarYinzer
“FA tries again: ‘Ma’am, you’ll need to put it under the seat in front of you then’ She becomes even more distraught. Begins almost crying/screaming all at once… ‘I’m holding onto this and I’m not letting it go and it’s staying with me’ At this point I start taking notice.”
“At this point I’m able to get a peek inside the bag. My [heart] drops. I feel a nausea hit. Inside the bag is a [flag]. Folded absolutely perfectly. I immediately stand up and ask if she’d like me to find another seat so that she can put the bag on my seat for the flight…”
“I tear up. She starts crying. Her travel companion comes over and tries to console her. ‘This is my son and he’s not leaving my side’. No one disagrees. FA realizes what happened and tries to figure out a solution. Ends up being able to hold onto it for the flight…”
“We talk briefly. Son was ex Iraq War vet, survived the war only to come home and be killed in line of duty. Leaves behind wife and two young kids. Tells me how much she could say goodbye one last time…”
“We land in Phoenix, everyone stands up. As we’re waiting to deplane, I give her a hug. Told her ‘since your son can’t give you a hug this Christmas, hopefully he can give you one through me’. She cries. I cry. Six of us cry. We deboard.”
“As we walk up the jetway, I look a ways back and see her start to smile. I overhear her travel companion say ‘he just gave you a hug through that guy Mom. He’s with us.’ And that’s the seat mate I’ll never forget. Spread the [love].”
Another story about an interesting conversation came from a passenger who once sat next to a deaf person and had a conversation by typing into a phone.
“I once sat next to a deaf gentleman on a 5 hour flight from LA to Chicago. We spoke the entire time using our iPhones for the conversation. He had a service dog with him that kept passing gas and the FA was not too happy with the dog. We had great conversation.”
Flying to Egypt in 05, to meet friends and tour. Sat next to an older gent, on Transatlantic flight. Turns out he’s an archaeologist. And was THE official photographer for the Egyptian govt. Talked on the flight, and layover in AMS. Saw him at Valley of Kings a week later.
— Jeremy Siebert (@Remy1120) May 20, 2022
Others sat next to people with some wild tales of their own, such as this guy who sat next to someone who claimed to be part of the Philadelphia experiments…
“Once on a flight to DAL we had to stop in Lubbock for several hours due to weather. After the pit stop.. I sat next to a very senior gentleman who claimed to be a part of the real Philadelphia experiments.. teleportation and all. Compelling storyteller.”
Twitter user Jon Franklin
Other Twitter users took the opportunity to sprinkle a little salt, remarking that they often discuss with their seatmates why Southwest is always late.
Why is Southwest always late. That’s been my seatmate conversation the last 5 times
— Chizzie Lovell (@chizman69) May 21, 2022
Others had fewer words. One said: “I prefer it when they don’t talk” and another remarked on sparse exchange she had with a seatmate over two different flights.
A 12 h flight. I did’t speak to the lady beside me. She didn’t speak to me.
— Tarja Ikola (@hf_finnfan) May 20, 2022
Surprisingly on connecting flight: she’s there again!
I say ”Hi”, she says ”Here again”. In Finnish. Nothing else on this 6 h flight.
Yeah, we both are from Finland (heading home).
Further interesting conversations included photography tips (“the best way to get a peak of the action picture was to take a short video of the action and pick out the best frame”) and shirtless mirror selfies that nobody asked for (“A man was sitting next to me that I had never met. He was showing me pictures of his boat, even though I had headed phones in and was clearly uninterested. He kept swiping through his photos and accidentally showed me a shirtless mirror selfie. Thanks for the memories.”).
Sounds like some of these Southwest passengers could do with reading a gentleman’s guide to aeroplane conversation etiquette…

A clifftop Airbnb in Nusa Penida, a small island southeast of Bali (and belonging to the Bali province) is blowing travellers’ minds. The tropical glamping experience looks insanely attractive, but some fear it could also be deadly.
From ducking under power lines to discovering some Americans love to pee in the pool, many Australian travellers get a rude shock in Bali. Many revel in the freedom. Others fret about what might go wrong in the absence of The Nanny State. Others simply want to find the most jaw-dropping Airbnb.
Speaking of which: photos of a clifftop Airbnb in Nusa Penida are blowing travellers’ minds. The Airbnb is an “entire bungalow” hosted by a “superhost” called Miyasa and is built to cater to two guests. It has one bedroom, one bath and, according to its Airbnb page, 1.5 baths.
RELATED: I Went To Bali’s Most Instagram-Famous Oasis & It Was A Complete Disaster
The place’s blurb reads: “Cliffs Edge is perched hundreds of meters above the crystal blue waters. Experience Glamping amidst peaceful surroundings of nature. A trusted favourite experience for content creators, photographers, nature lovers and couples.”
Photos like the following have social media users losing their minds, just a little…
The bungalow has wild ocean views, an eco-friendly bamboo design, inclusive breakfast, offers frequent sightings of turtles and manta rays, and has both indoor and outdoor showers. But what has caught travellers’ eyes is the “shooting ‘star net'” in which guests can be seen lounging above what appears to be a rather large drop.
RELATED: Important Rules Australians Need To Know Before Visiting Bali
A video of the Tropical Glamping experience on TikTok roused many commenters’ interest (“how do I book,” “I’m so down,” etc.). One even tagged their friend, saying “let’s book our trip to Bali based on the availability of this Airbnb.”
Some, however, commenting on photos of this Airbnb on Instagram, expressed fears of vertigo (“My dumbass would fall off that ledge, I do not trust myself lol”).
Other videos suggest the lookout is actually perched a few metres above some bushes and rocks (rather than immediately above the massive drop to the bottom of the cliff). Still: we wouldn’t like to find out what would happen if you were to fall. That ‘small’ drop could still be dangerous. Plus: you could potentially keep rolling off the bigger drop…
RELATED: I Tried Bali’s Instagram Famous Floating Breakfast Experience. It Was A Complete Disaster
Even with this relatively small drop, we can’t imagine a fenceless balcony like this in an Airbnb in Australia (whether that’s to our detriment or benefit, we’ll leave up to you to decide). That being said: there are some Airbnbs in Australia which appear ripe for a bit of regulation (see: World’s Worst Airbnb Leaves Australians Stunned) too.
In any case, this Nusa Penida Airbnb is super popular. It’s booked out every single night from now until the 25th of October (where it is available for a few days, before being booked out again until November). Booking the place for two nights in November will cost about AU $924 (AU $462 per night). If this Airbnb has sparked your interest, here’s some information about Nusa Penida.
According to The World Travel Guy, from Bali, the only way to reach Nusa Penida is by speedboat or ferry. He says the speedboat journey takes about 45 minutes, adding “There’s no airport in Nusa Penida. There are a bunch of speedboat companies making the trip to Penida daily, and they all depart from Sanur Beach in Bali at various times.”
RELATED: Bondi Beach Photo Depicts Scene That Could Never Happen In America
Nusa Penida is also home to what some people have called the most beautiful beach in the world (Diamond Beach). Beyond that, in Nusa Penida, you can trot up and down those iconic stairs you have probably seen bouncing around on Instagram, watch the sunset at Teletubbies Hill (lots of grass, a little bit Ubud esque, etc.) and check out Kelingking viewpoint and Kelingking beach (the two things which apparently made Nusa Penida popular).
There are also natural pools, snorkelling spots, treehouses, an underground temple, waterfalls, cocktails, manta rays and the iconic broken beach (that iconic arch which, again, you’ve probably seen floating around the internet somewhere).

Australian basketball player Liz Cambage has been in the news after a pre-Olympic warm up match last year reportedly got pretty heated.
The 6’8”, 30 year old has been accused of using racial and derogatory slurs against players of the Nigerian team as well as purposefully elbowing a player in the head while playing for the Australian national women’s team, the Opals. The altercation reportedly left the Nigerian player with a gash on her neck.
The match was played last July in Las Vegas, but reportedly had to be called off before the end of the second quarter due to the embarrassment of Australian team officials.
She released a statement on her Instagram claiming her innocence and saying in fact she was the one physically assaulted by the player she’s accused of insulting.
“I did not use the racial slur towards the Nigerian team that has been circulating. After I unintentionally fouled a Nigerian player on court I was then physically assaulted by this player on the sideline of my bench.”
However, multiple sources have come out and said she did indeed use slurs and derogatory language towards the Nigerian team.
Jenna O’Hea, who captained the Opals in Tokyo before retiring this year, confirmed it when she appeared on ABC Outsiders in May.
Players of the Nigerian team confirmed the details with New.com.au, as well as footage of the match which was obtained by NewsCorp showing the incident unfolding as originally reported.
Cambage was named as part of the national team for the Tokyo Olympics but pulled out stating mental and physical health issues. It came only two days after the scrimmage and 11 days before the beginning of the Olympics.
She said she’d been experiencing panic attacks, and hadn’t been eating or sleeping fro the last month and that she was using medication to help with anxiety.
The Opals Olympic run saw them only winning one of three pool matches before losing to the USA in the quarter finals.
Cambage, who’s father is Nigerian, reportedly told a player of the Nigerian team she wished she was playing for them because the Australian team was racist before the heated game. She also took to Instagram last year to say she no longer had any interest in playing for the Opals.
She uploaded a photo to her Instagram story of an email from Basketball Australia asking her to confirm whether or not she wanted to be considered for selection, captioning the who “do you ever get sick of lying on my name? MY interest was and still is ZERO.”
The four-time All-Starm, who’s worth a cool $3 million according to Media Referee, is currently in her first season with the Los Angeles Sparks, which is her fourth WNBA team in just six years.
Who is Liz Cambage?
Liz Cambage – full name Elizabeth Folake Cambage – was born in London on the 18th of August 1991. She moved to Australia with her mother when she was 3 months old after her parents separated. She initially moved to New South Wales, but eventually settled in Mornington Peninsula, Victoria.
Cambage was almost always destined to play basketball, purely because of her height. At 10-years-old she was already an impressive 6ft, but she continued to grow a 6ft 8in. Her mother encouraged her to start playing basketball when she was 10 to make friends and, showing genuine talent, Liz Cambage has since played In the WNBL, WNBA and the WCBA. She holds the record for the highest single-game scoring in the WNBA, scoring 53-points in 2018 while playing for the Dallas Wings.

If you’re an overthinker or sometimes wish you could slow your mind down, one TikTok user has a simple ‘Jedi mind trick’ that’ll help you.
Where are my fellow overthinkers? It’s a common problem many of us face – your mind being bombarded constantly with thoughts and noise. It’s chaotic, to say the least.
However, a meditation coach, known as The Mental Level may just have the solution.
Taking to TikTok, The Mental Level explains in his video an extremely simple trick that he claims will “slow down and stop your mind on command.” He says you should just, “Ask yourself, right now, ‘what is my next thought gonna be?’”
After this, The Mental Level then says, “And if something came up, acknowledge it and just gently let it go. And ask yourself again, ‘what is my next thought gonna be?’”
“And just acknowledge that if something came up. IF something came up. And let it go, gently. Take a deep breath. Relax your muscles and ask yourself again, from this more relaxed place, ‘what is my next thought gonna be?’ Really stick with this.”
The Mental Level

The Mental Level advises that you should continue asking yourself this question – as well as acknowledging and letting go of any thoughts that do pop up – until you “experience the full effect”.
“… Notice how the mind is slowing down, maybe even starting to stop thinking entirely.
Notice how your brain is in a rhythm of letting go of the thoughts that arise that it’s now aware of; notice the clarity and relaxation that you can release into now and just go about your day being present.”
The Mental Level
Many TikTok users praised the advice – which The Mental Level calls a ‘Jedi mind trick’ – with one user commenting, “You just set my brain in airplane mode,” and another writing, “I have ADHD. I. Cannot. BELIEVE. How quickly this worked. I’m stunned.”
Others thanked The Mental Level, “Damn, I haven’t had complete silence in my brain since I was born. Thank you,” while TikTok user @stylingwithkenzie simply wrote,
“Omg life changing.”

If you’re someone who carries a few extra pounds than they would like, and you feel you’ve exhausted all avenues to lose it (although, have you tried getting off your phone?), you may get to a point where you lose all hope – although, Adam Sullivan of Evidence Based Training says we should be setting realistic fat loss goals of less than a kilo a week (if that’s what you’re trying to do).
But British personal trainer James Smith has recently come out with an inspiring message that will give you plenty of optimism. Taking to TikTok, James admits that those with “20 to 30 kilograms of body fat to lose,” will likely be worried about stepping foot in the gym because “they’re programming what exercises they should be doing,” i.e. they want to make sure they’re performing the best workouts to achieve optimum fat loss. They could also be hesitant to step into the gym due to fear of ridicule (or the intimidation factor).
And so, worrying and fretting about these things will no doubt cause you to become demotivated. But, James says overweight people “overlook the most simplistic ways of helping them lose fat.” He admits that there needs to be a calorie deficit involved, but in terms of exercise, James says that people carrying extra weight can use that to their advantage.
He uses a 15kg weighted vest as an example for himself, adding “I’m not taking the piss out of people that are overweight or they’ve got weight, but even the simplest of tasks is going to be a lot more difficult. Walking or even performing a lunge, or going up the stairs. It’s going to be a lot more difficult if I wore this for a few hours.”
“For many of you out there that have got tremendous amounts of excess weight, in essence, you have got enough resistance on your body to burn more calories than other people.”
“Don’t underestimate going for walks, going outside, opting to take the stairs. Understand it’s a tool, it’s something you can utilise.”
“Something as simple as taking the stairs and monitoring your food intake, over the course of three to six months, means that after a while, you could be saying goodbye to the amount of weight that a weighted vest even weighs. And when you drop that weight, suddenly the idea of coming to a gym and exercising may not seem so daunting.”
It’s an inspiring message for sure, and one many should take onboard. Especially because, as Adam Sullivan explains in a video on his Instagram account, “no exercise directly results in fat loss,” as it all comes down to putting yourself into a calorie deficit. This doesn’t contradict James’ message that simply getting outside isn’t going to work, because it will. But it does make sense within the context of going to a gym.
There’s no point spending money on a gym membership to go and walk on a treadmill and lift a few weights – although it has been claimed that muscle gain can also play its part in fat loss – if you’re not looking at what you eat. Combine these two messages: getting active and reducing the number of calories you’re consuming on a daily basis, persevere, and you’ll soon seen the pounds fall off.

Donnie from The Wolf of Wall Street has some pretty iconic moments throughout the film but there’s one scene in particular that made Jonah Hill feel incredibly guilty after shooting it.
Jonah Hill is iconic. He’s constantly pushing the boundaries when it comes to style, admitted he didn’t like The Mandalorian and has starred in instant classic films like Superbad and The Wolf of Wall Street.
Speaking of The Wolf of Wall Street, Hill’s character Donnie had some incredible moments – including, of course, the infamous goldfish scene. For those unfamiliar with it, Donnie berates an employee for cleaning his fishbowl during work and then proceeds to eat the employee’s live goldfish in front of everyone in the office.
The scene is arguably one of the funniest and best moments in The Wolf of Wall Street but as it turns out, Hill felt terrible about it. During an interview with Grantland, Hill admitted that after doing the scene he felt guilty and apologised profusely to his fellow actor over lunch.
“There’s a scene where I fire this kid and eat his goldfish. I throw a cigarette at him and I smack him in the face and berate him in front of 200 people and fire him. Even though it’s acting, I saw this actor’s eyes and he looked really upset. He looked horrible.”
Jonah Hill

“I took him to lunch that day and I said, ‘I’m sorry. You know this has nothing to do with how I am.’ And we connected and had a nice lunch…”
Jonah Hill
Hill also said that playing Donnie was incredibly taxing as the character does multiple despicable things throughout The Wolf of Wall Street.
“I would drive home and feel a wave of guilt over all the things I had to do in that day. It wasn’t the drugs, but the things Donnie had to do to people… Even though you’re acting, the way this person treats people is the hardest thing you have to do.”
Jonah Hill
It’s admirable that Hill actually felt real guilt over things a fictional character he played did… And while we agree that Donnie is a horrible person, he’s still an awesome character in an awesome film – which you can watch on Netflix Australia, Binge, Amazon Prime Video & Foxtel Now.

Who is Manny Khoshbin?

Manny Khoshbin is an Iranian real estate investor, entrepreneur, and businessman. He is the president and CEO of commercial real estate company The Khoshbin Company.
He’s also well-known on social media for showing off his exorbitant car collection and lavish lifestyle.
How did Manny Khoshbin get rich?
Manny Khoshbin is the very definition of a rags to riches story, going from minimum wage jobs to living the “American dream”.
Khoshbins’ parents relocated him and his four siblings to the US when he was 14 to escape from the war happening in his home country at the time. Upon arriving in America, they had to live in a car until their father could get a job and find a place for them to stay.
At the age of 16, Manny began working at K-Mart collecting carts and mopping floors for $3.15/hour. He moved into a door-to-door sales job, selling candy and nuts but soon realised he could do it himself and earn more.
So, during his last year of high school Khoshbin started his first business where he bought food in bulk and sold it door-to-door. However, he had to close it when he was visited by a health inspector and told he needed a permit he wasn’t able to afford.
At age 20, his father’s friends suggested he invest all his assets in a gas station at only a 10% down payment. Keen to make money, Manny sunk all his savings into the endeavour however soon he realised it was a scam and he went bankrupt.
With no money or job, Khoshbin took a job working at a mortgage company as a loan officer. After only 6 months there Manny decided he needed a change and obtained a real estate licence, and started a mortgage and realty company a few months later. From there he started to invest in distressed and bank-owned property.
Almost 3 decades later, Manny has privately bought and sold over $1bn in real estate with no outside capital.
His company, The Khoshbin Company today owns commercial real estate covering 7 states and over 2.5 million square feet.
Manny Khoshbin Family
Manny Khoshbin married Iranian Canadian actress Leyla Milani in June 2011 and has two children with her, a son Enzo (born 2012) and a daughter Priscilla (born 2016). Milani has appeared in WWE, Deal or No Deal, and Curb Your Enthusiasm.
Manny Khoshbin Real Estate
Being so successful in real estate you can imagine Khoshbin lives pretty comfortably.
His previous house in Newport Coast, California is a work of art worth over $30 million. The house was 13,532 square feet with 7 bedrooms, 9 bathrooms, a sauna, gourmet kitchen, home theatre, 1500 bottle wine cellar, 16-car subterranean garage, and a poker parlour.
His new home, which was formerly a church, sits on 70,000 square feet of property and features a “hypercar garage” and a private go-kart track.
Manny Khoshbin Cars
Manny’s taste for fancy cars is obvious as soon as you look him up. With a car collection valued at over $30 million, he has some of the world’s rarest and most exclusive cars (including some made personally for him)
Some of these cars include:

Top Gun: Maverick, the long-awaited sequel to what’s probably the best action movie of the 80s, has just hit cinemas, and it’s an absolute delight for the senses. But watch nerds were delighted to see one watch in particular…
Many of the characters in the film wear IWC Schaffhausen watches – of course, IWC has had a long partnership with the US Navy’s Fighter Weapons School, which is better known as TOPGUN. It’s this elite flight school that the movie revolves around and takes its name from.
IWC has produced a wide variety of TOP GUN watches – for example, the ‘Lake Tahoe’ and ‘Woodland’ that were unveiled at Watches & Wonders earlier this year – but eagle-eyed moviegoers spotted a rather unusual, hitherto unseen IWC in Top Gun: Maverick that’s got people worked up into a lather.
It’s actually not a watch at all but a stopwatch. Hong Kong-based watch collector Erwin Chu has shared the first look at the coveted stopwatch online, and we have to say, it looks cool as hell.
A small monopusher number, DMARGE can confirm the ‘IWC Schaffhausen Instructor’s Stopwatch’ features a DLC black coating and features the same iconic dial design as IWC’s pilot’s watches.

As you can see above, the stopwatch comes as part of a set alongside a matching IWC Schaffhausen Pilot’s Watch Mark XVIII TOP GUN Edition “SFTI” wristwatch plus a ballistic nylon lanyard and comes packaged in a Pelican-style dry box. Super cool stuff.
DMARGE has been told that the stopwatch only comes as part of this set. It’s not clear whether or not members of the general public can still purchase this box set – seems they’ve all sold out already. Your best bet? Walk in to your local IWC boutique while humming Danger Zone…

Bernard Tomic, who is currently ranked number 416 in the world, just called out Nick Kyrgios, UFC style, challenging him to a singles tennis match. Kyrgios, who is currently ranked number 76 in the world, hit back and told Tomic “I’m still on the tour” and “I’ve got bigger fish to fry.”
Nick Kyrgios, Australia’s most high profile tennis player (despite both Alex de Minaur and James Duckworth both currently ranking above him), woke up this morning to the news that he was under siege from Bernard Tomic. Tomic, who has fallen a long way down the rankings in recent years, and who has made headlines lately more for a spat with Lleyton Hewwit (and for an OnlyFans appearance) than he has for his tennis performances, challenged Kygrios to a singles tennis match. He also said he could take him in basketball and boxing.
“Let’s set the record straight here, our record is 1-0,” Tomic said. The 29-year-old continued: “I beat you once before, I’ll beat you again. Whenever you want. I dominate you every time we play, we train, and you know that. You say you’re good at basketball, I’ll beat you in that too. Tennis, I’ll dominate you one on one and to not make excuses I’ll even play you on grass, whenever you want. You know what, we’ll sort this out in the boxing ring. Put your gloves on, I’ll dominate you there also, let’s see who’s better once and for all.”
He also mocked Kyrgios’ recent claim that he was the number one player in the world on grass (“you’re dreaming”)
“Talk is cheap. I’m ready to make it 2-0 whenever you want. Put your money where your mouth is. Let the public decide who’s better. I’ll beat you anywhere, anyplace, if not; shut your mouth and go back to playing doubles.”
Bernard Tomic
Kyrgios, who is 27, responded with an Instagram Story of his own. Speaking from in his car, he said: “Hey guys I’m just going to make a quick video just to kill all this Bernard Tomic vs. Nick Kyrgios type of talk. I’m still playing on the tour my brother, I got bigger fish to fry. I’m in a… training block right now preparing for tournaments on the grass; Wimbledon, and the US Open.”
“I understand you’re at that Future and Challenger level right now, but if you want to play me just get back to the top of the sport.”
Nick Kyrgios
“I’m right here, I’m not going anywhere, I still feel that I’m elite. I’m still beating some of the best in the world quite easily, so I’ll be waiting for you and if you’re capable of getting and playing a decent level of tennis you’ll show that – there’s no need to go through the media; [or to] use my name to get relevant again… I hope everything’s well… As for now, I think you’ve got some bigger life challenges ahead brother, so best of luck.”
“Let’s just see your results, stop living in the past and let’s play each other on the main tour.”
Nick Kyrgios
As for the boxing match, Kyrgios didn’t rule it out, but also said it wouldn’t be happening any time soon: “maybe one day brother… maybe when my career winds down. But I’m too occupied at the moment bro.”
Fighting talk.
