Warning: Your Snapchats Can Now Last Forever
Warning: Your Snapchats Can Now Last Forever

Think your drunken face plant from last weekend is history because your mate only recorded it on his 24-hour Snapchat story? Think again, buddy.

The FOMO-inducing app has just announced a new, game-changing feature called Memories, described as “a personal collection of your favourite moments that lives below the camera screen.”

Apparently, you can use Memories to create new Stories from Snaps you’ve taken, or combine different Stories into a longer ‘narrative’ – perhaps a timeline of 1, 2, 3 tequila, floor.

With the new Snapchat feature you can also upload old Snaps to your latest Story, although they will appear with a frame to signify that the picture is old. You can even put saved photos in a special “My Eyes Only” folder, which is highly recommended if you use Snapchat for its more sinister purposes.

Memories will be rolling out slowly over the next month and Snapchat will send you a notification when it’s available, but in the meantime, check out the Memories vid above starring YouTube’s hottest couple Jay Alvarrez and Alexis Ren.

London Industrial Apartment Shows Off Its Minimalist Stripes
London Industrial Apartment Shows Off Its Minimalist Stripes

The Scandinavians aren’t the only ones who can design a mean industrial apartment. APA studios located in the United Kingdom is an architectural firm who’ve brought together some of the best raw elements into one masculine space.

Inside the apartment resides burnt steel, white concrete walls and grey tonal furniture pieces which drastically wind up the minimalistic feel to cool new levels. The windows meanwhile are large enough to utilise the natural lighting throughout with Japanese sliding doors breaking up the main bedroom from the living area.

The elephant in the room is of course a giant steel cube which acts as a masculine feature to the home. Look inside the cube and you’ll find the bathroom, film, book archive, and laundry facilities. More specifically, each side of the cube is strategically characterised for reading, sleeping, working, cooking and socialising.

The owners say that the metal box represents the core of their creative work.

“That is why the metal box inside the apartment looks quite closed from the outside, but has the ability to constantly change and evolve, never be the same.”

Twitter Launches Live Sports Streaming Via Wimbledon 2016
Twitter Launches Live Sports Streaming Via Wimbledon 2016

There’s been word that Twitter will be joining the the live broadcasting game recently but other than that little news was known about the new streaming service.

With a deal already teed up with America’s NFL, Twitter has today given the world a snippet of what their live sports function will feel like through the live streaming of day 9 of Wimbledon 2016.

The feature works by taking users to a live feed page which has two columns – one for the Twitter feed corresponding to the video subject via hashtags and a left column which has a video window screening the live game.

It’s essentially a real-time experience which brings together a live viewing experience and user engagement in the same place. There’s no news yet on whether this will be the final design version but for now it’s simple enough to navigate and figure out if you have a Twitter account.

Given that below the video features a ‘Brought to you by’ section linking back to the Wimbledon and ESPN Twitter accounts, you can expect that other sports screenings will feature the same thing, likely roping in advertisers and their tweets as well.

Audiences can peruse the Wimbledon live stream and experience the wrath of Kyrgios in real time on the dedicated Twitter page now.

Primus Hotel Sydney: A Taste Of Old Fashioned Elegance
Primus Hotel Sydney: A Taste Of Old Fashioned Elegance

If you’ve been disillusioned by Sydney’s lockout laws and perhaps a lack of culture compared to other Australian cities like Melbourne, we’re here to tell you that not all hope is lost.

Transporting you back in time to an era of 1930’s glamour, and adding to Sydney’s growing list of hipster heritage revivals, the 5-star Primus Hotel Sydney is the city’s latest hidden gem.

Just moments away from Town Hall and Hyde Park, you’d walk straight past The Primus Hotel Sydney on Pitt St if it wasn’t for the hotel’s December 2015 refurb. “For two years, handpicked master craftsmen from around the world meticulously restored the former Sydney Water Head Office’s elaborate and intricate finishes to their original glory,” says General Manager Daniel Muhor.

Now a timeless haven of opulent design and seamless personal service, The Primus Hotel Sydney is a little taste of old fashion elegance for businessmen and romantics alike.

For The Travelling Businessman

On passing through the Primus Hotel Sydney’s rather dark and intimidating Pitt St facade, you’re immediately greeted by a commanding lobby like of luxe marble and velvet. Towering ceilings, white marble floors, 8-metre scagliola columns and perhaps some of the best customer service in Sydney takes you back to the chivalry and romance of the 30’s heyday.

172 light-filled rooms and suites across a 6 levels are furnished with enough dark timber oak joinery, polished brass trimmings and hand-made wall tiles to have you believing you’re a regular Don Draper…or Ron Burgundy at the very least.

A royal navy and cream colour scheme teeters on the edge of old and new, but modern additions like complimentary WiFi, 24 hour in-room dining, a schmick coffee machine, flat screen telly and wait for it…a pillow menu, will keep most of your first world problems at bay.

If you’re in the business of sprucing up, be it after a long haul flight or late night out, The Primus Hotel Sydney’s bathrooms are pretty deluxe. A massive shower head, even bigger bath tub and plenty of organic Appelles toiletries means you can hit refresh in style.

With marble wall slabs, bronze mirror glass doors and custom-made geometric wallpaper, plus a butler and powder room, The Primus Hotel Sydney’s Presidential and Vice Presidential Suites provide even more old world charm if your pocket (or employer’s) can take it.

If relaxing and unwinding is on the agenda, wet your weary whistle with a carefully crafted cocktail down at the Primus Hotel Sydney lobby bar (smoking cloche, optional), take a dip upstairs at the New York-style rooftop pool and lounge, or indulge in European and Aussie delicacies down at the hotel’s fine-dining restaurant ‘The Wilmot’.

Whatever your mission, The Primus Hotel Sydney delivers on seamless service and style with a little help from a bygone era.

For The Business Meeting

The food and booze offering doesn’t stop there, Magnificent Bastards. Gone are the days of the pub lunch business meetings. Much like some of Europe’s most iconic hotels, The Primus Hotel Sydney is an ideal spot for business meetings and cocktail catchups, and the hotel’s new Gentleman’s High Tea is guaranteed to impress.

A fresh take on the age-old ritual of afternoon tea, the no-nonsense ‘G’N Tea’ menu offers a convincing lure for the inquisitive gentleman not so familiar with the art of taking ‘a spot of tea’ with delights including Oyster Kilpatrick, Wagyu Sliders, Beef and Burgundy Pies and a Ham and Cheese Toasty.

If you’re keen to take a punt at tea-drinking, a premium selection of traditional and exotic teas including Bombay Chai, African Solstice and Orchid Vanilla from Australian range Tea Forte are on offer. For those looking for a little more indulgence, however, there is Veuve champagne and cocktails a-plenty.

Located in the hotel’s stunning and soaring Art Deco lobby, The Primus Hotel Sydney’s Gentleman’s High Tea starts at $45 (or $65 with a glass of champers) and runs daily between 3-5pm. Is it time to up your business meeting etiquette?

Netflix & Crust: A Single Man's Guide To Entertaining At Home
Netflix & Crust: A Single Man's Guide To Entertaining At Home

The following article has been sponsored by Crust

It’s easy to be a partygoer: throw on whatever is least in need of laundering, grab a bottle of booze along the way, show up, eat, drink, mingle, dance, test your newest pickup lines, thank the host, head home. The hardest decision you have to make is “red or white?”

But being a host? That’s a whole different animal. If you want to be the Prince of Parties you need to step up your game – so we’ve teamed up with the experts at Crust Gourmet Pizza Bar to bring you a crash course in entertaining at your pad.

Let’s put on the mood music, pop the cork, and get down to business.

Set The Guest List

The first thing every ballin’ bash needs is a guest list. Inviting all 1500 of your Facebook friends won’t cut it.

For starters, pick a number you’re comfortable with. Don’t invite 20 people if you think you can only manage 10. Four to six is a good range to aim for if you’re new to entertaining. Shoot for a mix of introverts and extroverts and you have the recipe for an engaging guest list. Also aim to include a mix of old friends and new ones. Think 60-70 percent established, 30-40 percent new blood.

And remember: if someone is part of a couple, you have to invite the other half. Yes, even if you find them as interesting as a used dryer sheet.

Prep To Perfection

Here’s where you start to break into stress sweats. Your ever-expanding to-do list may tempt you to throw in the towel and fake a contagious disease to get out of your party plans. Don’t do it. Unless you’re Martha Stewart, no one is expecting perfection.

Cleaning is non-negotiable. Your bachelor pad should look nothing like a bachelor pad. Scrub, dust, and disinfect like a girlfriend’s mum is coming by for the first time.

Shop for supplies early – not only does it relieve some of the pressure, it also gives you time to go back if you forget something. Plan a menu that allows you to cook some dishes a day or two early. Don’t force yourself to cook at all if you don’t want to. Many a memorable party was founded on ordering pizza.

Get yourself ready in the most efficient order. You can shower, shave, and select your party threads early, but save a few things for later in the day. Also, wear something that can take a beating while you work and change into the main event outfit at the eleventh hour.

Learn Your Liquor Lessons

Nothing starts a party faster than a bit of the hard stuff. Get a beverage in your guests’ hands within minutes of them walking through the door. If they’re a low key beer crowd, don’t serve them Champagne. If you want to get fancy, make a big-batch drink like a punch. If your home bar isn’t already well stocked, stick to a theme to keep things simple.

There are two people the booze rules don’t apply to. Number one: people who don’t drink. Make sure they also feel welcome in your home by providing non-alcoholic options. Number two: you. It’s ok to sip, but don’t get sloshed. A wasted host is a host who won’t be hosting again.

Once the social lubricants are taking their effect, you’ll need the final key ingredient: food.

Equip The Edibles

Are you Anthony Bourdain? Wylie Dufresne? Eric Ripert? Are there Michelin stars to your name? Then cool it with the cooking. Feeding people is a must to absorb the alcohol, but torturing yourself with a 10-course tasting menu is overkill.

Pick one dish to be the focal point and plan the rest around it to ensure the flavours are complementary. Give yourself more time in the kitchen than you think you need (you’ll need it) and clean as you cook so you’re left with as little mess as possible.

For the ultimate easy meal option, forgo cooking altogether. Pick up something pre-prepared or call the crack team at Crust. Gourmet pies like Truffle Beef Rossini, Biltong Spiced Lamb, and Harissa Hummus Chicken cut your hassle in half and please even picky palates.

Be The Host With The Most

You’ve almost claimed your spot as your social circle’s premiere party host. What’s left? The only factor unaccounted for is you.

You set the tone for the occasion. If you’re not having fun, your guests aren’t either. It’s your job to get the night rolling, and most importantly, rolling in the right direction. Make introductions. Start conversations. Be present. Crack jokes.

Above all, enjoy yourself. A successful party is one you feel proud of when the dishes are dirty, the glasses are drained, and the guests have all gone home.

8 Items Interior Design Experts Avoid In Their Own Homes
8 Items Interior Design Experts Avoid In Their Own Homes

If you’re on the DIY route to revamping your living quarters, there are plenty of things you should splash your hard earned cash on, but there are definitely some you should avoid.

From floorboards in the kitchen, to leaky servery windows and basements, Domain asked architects, builders and stylists what their biggest interior design no-no’s are and what they would absolutely avoid in their own homes and here’s what they had to say.

#1 Polished Concrete

concrete

“It certainly can look amazing but it is very difficult to achieve. If you pull it off and it turns out the way you want, there is a chance of it cracking, and there is ongoing maintenance and cleaning…once stained there is no going back” says Craig Spratling of Create Construction in Sydney.

#2 Marble Benchtops

marble

“They are aesthetically pleasing, however they absorb so many stains and are not practical, particularly for the price,” says Con Mihas of Home Impact Architecture and Construction in Sydney.

#3 Glass Balustrades

Glass-Balustrading

“This comes down to simple high maintenance. They only look good if they are immaculately clean, and as we know with kids that is impossible,” Mihas says.

#4 Inflexible Spaces

inflexible

“Space is a premium and places need to be flexible and functional,” says Richard Middleton of Richard Middleton Architects in Melbourne. “Our clients want one central space in their home that is a flexible ‘heart’ that can be used for casual living but is also presentable and adaptable for entertaining.”

#5 Servery Kitchen Windows

servery

“While in theory they sound like a great idea and look great, the reality is flush servery windows are not as functional as one would think. They are rarely watertight and are often subject to leaks and drafts, no matter how well executed,” says Mihas.

#6 Floor Boards In The Kitchen

bloodboards

“As a builder this baffles me,” says Mihas. “It looks amazing but it is the most impractical choice. Oil spits, spills and high traffic all wear down even the most durable hardwoods.”

#7 Stack Stone

stackstone

“If you would like to use stone in your interior or exterior design, it is preferable to go for solid stone, rather than stack stone,” says Katrina Malyn architectural designer at Design Projector in Sydney. “It is the imitation that robs stack stone of the power of natural stone. Once the stone is reduced to just a thin cladding it loses its structural strength and the stone, in my view, loses its appeal.”

#8 Basements

basement

“People love the idea of extra storage or having a man cave,” says Mihas. “But these are expensive to build and can be subject to flooding issues.”
