Louis Vuitton Just Took The Smartwatch To Luxurious New Heights
Louis Vuitton Just Took The Smartwatch To Luxurious New Heights

It’s taken numerous attempts from numerous watchmakers but it’s safe to say that Louis Vuitton have finally stepped up to take the crown for a fashionable smartwatch that is on par with some of the best out there when it comes to features.

What sets the Tambour Horizon apart of course is the LV moniker, a symbol of contemporary high fashion whether you’re a fan of the label’s tenacious approach or not (read: Supreme x LV). The Tambour name first set Louis Vuitton on its watchmaking voyage back in 2002 and it’s only fitting that the name returns more than a decade later to take on a new digital frontier in timekeeping.

The idea for the new Tambour Horizon was born in Paris with parts meticulously crafted in Switzerland before calling on Silicon Valley’s brightest to develop the technology which can be enjoyed by any wearer from around the world. The result of teaming up with Google and Qualcomm Technologies, Inc.? The arrival of a highly capable smartwatch which boasts the signature elegance and grace of a Tambour.

For the new smartwatch, Louis Vuitton focused on the Maison’s pursuit of personalisation for everyday wearables. Packed within the fine 42mm brushed stainless steel case is a 1.2’’ full round AMOLED touch screen boasting 390 x 390 resolution which shows off the 24 hour watch face which includes 24 time zones, a City Guide travel app (geolocation function that indicates nearby restaurants, hotels, historical landmarks and tourist attractions in real time), weather, temperature and step counter functions.

The Tambour Horizon also features customisable watch faces with stripes and initials to drastically change its overall aesthetic. This includes a “My Flight” Travel watch face made for those who are constantly in transit. Personalisation is further enhanced on the Tambour with up to 30 different straps to choose from.

The luxurious feel of the timepiece is finely complemented with sapphire glass on the front and back, the latter of which features the iconic ‘LV’ logo. For everyday wearability the watch affords 30 metres of water resistance, approximately a day’s worth of juice between charges and WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity.

The bridge between luxury, style and technology has arrived.

This Could Be The Best Trump-Fashion Twitter Account Ever
This Could Be The Best Trump-Fashion Twitter Account Ever

The Trump name has struck fear (and some joy) into a many around the world. On the flip side it’s also provided no shortage of parody opportunities and pot shots for those who love to revel in all the shortcomings of the 45th POTUS.

One of these rogue accounts championing themselves as the internet’s frontrunner is Trump’s Ties. Taking the actual notion that Trump’s choice in ties are for the most part shit, often ill-lengthed and does little to mask his feeble attempts at leadership on a world stage,  Trump’s Ties decided to go even further by giving the classic men’s accessory a life of its own.

The results speak for themselves.

A Modern Man's Guide To Acceptable #Selfie Photography
A Modern Man's Guide To Acceptable #Selfie Photography

The debate continues to rage whether men should or should not take #selfies, so we decided to offer our advice on the cultural smartphone phenomenon. Honestly, I think Steve McQueen would be turning in his grave if he knew today’s men were doing this, but he’s dead so it’s going to happen anyway. Here are eight simple tips for making the most of your selfie glory.

Become a selective selfie guy

Not every photo is ready for selfie immortality and the last thing you want is a reputation as a compulsive selfie taker. If you’re about to upload that photo of you in the car, as well as that photo of you eating a sandwich and that photo with your lawnmower then it’s time to get a Nokia 2110.

Be aware of what’s in the background

Nothing spoils the selfie of the year like dirty laundry, open wardrobes, floaters and photo bombers (above). We recommend avoiding taking photos in toilets, messy bathrooms and bedrooms. Find a space that’s clean, respectable and free of assholes so you can shoot away.

Invest in an auto timer camera application

If you need a selfie to show someone your fully sick outfit, then it’s best to free your arms to get the best shot. We recommend downloading an auto timer camera application. Most iPhone camera timer apps are free and will work a treat. Bonus tip: Find a well-lit window to place your phone and auto snap away with or without your cat.

Don’t pout or pull a sexy face (or ‘Drake hands’)

Drake hands should be a lesson to all men everywhere that being pouty, moody, sultry or sensitive (kittens) will only increase your douche-factor to the power of 100. Either smile or keep a straight face when you’re taking the shot, because you don’t want to look like a contestant in the Miss World pageant.

Keep your shirt on at all times

Blast your guns but when you’re done keep your shirt on and your phone in your pocket. The shirtless guy is a renown symbol of doucheness and should be avoided at all costs. This is especially true if you’re using it to catch skank on Tinder. This tip also includes selfie pose-downs and Biebergrams. Why Bieber always does ‘surprised eyebrows’ I’ll never know…

Don’t tag your photo with #selfie

Don’t be like the other 16-year-old muppets who take whack selfies then proceed to hashtag them as #selfie. We know it’s a selfie, your friends/followers know its a selfie. Take it, post it and move onto checking every 3 minutes for likes. Yes, we know you do that.

Right time and right place

Not every occasion is selfie appropriate. We recommend taking 5 seconds to think about to consider the consequences of taking that photo at hospitals, toilets, brit milahs and funerals. Nan would NOT be cool with your throwing gang signs whilst she’s at the pearly gates in her pink nightie.

Use the selfie to capture magic moment

Occasionally you’ll need to take a selfie to capture an moment too good to be missed. The instance of the illusive ‘man who drops pants’ at urinal is one of those must capture occasions. We DO NOT however recommend using mirrors to up-skirt or do anything illegal or creepy.

China Is Building The World's First Vertical Forest City
China Is Building The World's First Vertical Forest City

Italian architect Stefano Boeri has devised an innovative way to ease China’s pollution problem: a Vertical Forest City, in which every office, apartment, hotel, school, and skyscraper is blanketed in smog-sucking greenery.

If the concept sounds familiar, that’s because this isn’t Boeri’s first time at the eco-friendly rodeo. His architecture firm is also behind two vertical forest buildings planned for Nanjing in eastern China. In this iteration, Boeri’s ultra-ambitious idea will expand to span two-thirds of a mile along the Liujiang River in the southern city of Liuzhou.

When complete, the development will be home to around 30,000 people and be connected to the main Liuzhou city via a fast-rail line designed for electric cars. It will boast nearly a million plants from over 100 species and about 40,000 trees, all working together to replace urban air pollution with clean oxygen and boost local biodiversity. They’ll absorb an estimated 10,000 tonnes of Co2 and 57 tonnes of pollutants per year, as well as produce up to 900 tonnes of oxygen.

Additionally, the greenery will provide shade during warm months and insulation during winter, helping residents use less heating and electricity, and act as a noise barrier from local highways. Each building incorporates geothermal systems for air conditioning and rooftop solar panels for renewable energy to maximise sustainability and self-sufficiency.

Vertical Forest City has started construction and is slated to be completed in 2020.

Eat Your Way Around The World At The Top 25 Foodie Destinations
Eat Your Way Around The World At The Top 25 Foodie Destinations

Deep down, there’s a part of all of us that wants to be Anthony Bourdain (minus the maggot fried rice). We’re hungry for experiences that combine travel and food, with a new-found focus on authenticity. Travellers today aren’t interested in sticking to Michelin guides or familiar chains from home – instead we want to immerse ourselves in a local culture via the tastes and smells of its food.

Culinary travel is a trend on the rise. Whether touring vineyards and orchards, taking cooking courses, sampling urban street food, or exploring regional delicacies at farmers’ markets, foodie tourists are an increasingly large market.

“Anthony Bourdain has singlehandedly changed the landscape of travel,” Charles Wolfe, senior travel advisor at Direct Travel Vacations in Florida, told Travel Weekly. “Before him, travelers were looking at Michelin guides to find the best of the best. But now people are asking to go deeper, to experience the local culture through the cuisine.”

“People today are looking for an authentic experience,” agrees Leigh Elizabeth Bryant, president of Avondale Travel, also based in Florida. “They don’t want to go to another chain restaurant. They want to experience the local foods and the local culture they find within the flavours of the food.”

“Have fork, will travel,” is the motto of modern jet-setters. Accommodation booking site Booking.com recently found that over three quarters of its users say they’d likely travel somewhere renowned for great food and drink when choosing their next travel destination. Millennials are particularly interested in combining their passions for travel and food, gobbling unidentifiable street treats and five-star delicacies with equal delight.

Using more than 118 million user reviews, Booking.com identified the top foodie destinations most recommended by globetrotting gourmands. Add these 25 cities to your bucket list and don’t forget to pack your appetite (and a bigger pair of pants).

Best Dressed Men Of The Week Feat. Dwyane Wade, Ryan Reynolds & Dave Franco
Best Dressed Men Of The Week Feat. Dwyane Wade, Ryan Reynolds & Dave Franco

The week has come to an end but the rotation of cool threads from celebrity men certainly haven’t. It’s all about the summer vibes in this edition with sports stars and movie stars all mixing it up to show off their most relaxed styles without dropping their game.

Ryan Reynolds is again doing wonders for ‘dad-bod’ with a simple white tee, denim, flat cap and one of the coolest backpacks we’ve ever seen. Understated cool comes to mind.

Elsewhere NBA star Dwyane Wade has been working the European fashion circuit in some quirky monochromatic looks which works well for his stature. Two men really taking the summer look to new heights is Zachary Quinto and Oliver Cheshire with pared down vibes and button shirts done two ways depending on your preferences.

Dave Franco and Douglas Booth look after the slightly more formal affairs with the suit and shirt combo impeccably pulled off.

The Hot New Way To Get A Hit Is… Snortable Chocolate?
The Hot New Way To Get A Hit Is… Snortable Chocolate?

Research says that chocolate makes you smarter, but this sounds downright daffy. No longer satisfied by the energy rush of caffeine, a Florida-based company has invented a snortable chocolate powder they say provides a legal, drug-free energy hit that lasts 30-60 minutes.

Coco Loko comes from the twisted mind of Nick Anderson, the 29-year-old founder of Legal Lean, a drug-free version of the codeine cough syrup mixture often referred to as “lean.” Anderson claims he tried snortable chocolate after hearing that it was a fad in Europe, then invested US$10,000 in creating his own version of a “raw cacao snuff.”

“At first, I was like, ‘Is this a hoax?,’” he told The Washington Post. “And then I tried it and it was like, okay, this is the future right here.”

Anderson’s concoction took two months to perfect. “Some versions, they just burned too much,” he said. “Other times they looked gray and dull, or didn’t have enough stimulants.”

Eventually he settled on a blend of cacao powder, gingko biloba, taurine and guarana that produces “almost like an energy-drink feeling, like you’re euphoric but also motivated to get things done.”

The Legal Lean website promises an “endorphin rush”, a “serotonin rush”, “euphoric energy”, and “calm focus” – all without the side effects of a sugar crash.

Coco Loko hit US shelves last month, but snort at your own risk. The powder is not approved by the Food and Drug Administration, and plenty of doctors have questioned the risks of inhaling chocolate through your nose.

“There are a few obvious concerns,” said Dr. Andrew Lane, director of the Johns Hopkins Sinus Center, to The Washington Post. “First, it’s not clear how much of each ingredient would be absorbed into the nasal mucus membranes. And, well, putting solid material into your nose — you could imagine it getting stuck in there, or the chocolate mixing with your mucus to create a paste that could block your sinuses.”

Watching Dr. Lane pull chocolate paste out of sinuses is the new watching Dr. Pimple Popper squeeze out a cyst. What a time to be alive.

Mercedes-Benz Teases The Arrival Of The X-Class Ute
Mercedes-Benz Teases The Arrival Of The X-Class Ute

A different breed of Mercedes is about to be unleashed on the world and this time it’s not just a concept.

After doing the promotional rounds earlier this year, Mercedes-Benz have continued to tease the impending debut of their first ever luxury ute (pick-up truck for you Americans).

The teaser video entitled ‘Mercedes-Benz X-Class: First of a New Kind’ showcases the car in a rugged urban environment as it weathers a storm and shows off its newly sculpted masculine lines.

Gorden Wagener who is the Chief Design Officer of Daimler said that the pickup embodies the “sensual purity” design language of the Mercedes brand. This means its a mix of emotion, aesthetic appeal and intelligent solutions all rolled into one package. Oh and it will also be built on the Nissan Navara platform whilst the front fascia begins to mimic more of the current generation GLE SUV.

The good news is that the car which has polarised a many in the motoring world will go into production but beyond that there hasn’t been many details. Until now.

It’s expected that the Silver Arrows will mate a V6 engine to the X-Class whilst power will be sent to all four wheels via the company’s 4MATIC drivetrain.

OMEGA Unveils A New Limited Edition 007 Timepiece
OMEGA Unveils A New Limited Edition 007 Timepiece

They might not have found a new Bond just yet but OMEGA are forging ahead with the highly sought after James Bond pieces regardless, this time looking back in time for inspiration.

The Seamaster Diver 300M “Commander’s Watch” was officially unveiled in London last night and it will evoke the rank and regalia of James Bond in military dress across three different films and actors – Sean Connery in “You Only Live Twice”, Roger Moore in “The Spy Who Loved Me” and Pierce Brosnan in “Tomorrow Never Dies”.

The watch itself is an attractive nautical-themed piece which features the striking colours of red, white and blue as used by the Royal Navy alongside the Commander’s insignia itself.

Cased in stainless steel and paired with a polished white ceramic dial, the watch wears facetted blue skeleton hour-minute hands and a varnished red seconds hand with a “007” gun logo counterweight. Flipping the watch around will reveal a transparent caseback which shows off a rotor with the Royal Navy’s Commander rank insignia. All of this is driven by OMEGA’s Calibre 2507 movement.

Another standout design cue is the 5-stripe blue, red & grey polyamide NATO Strap which carries the watch’s commander theme in attractive fashion. There’s also a metal bracelet version for those who prefer the classic look.

Those keen for the latter will need to move quick as the stainless steel version is limited to 7,007 pieces whilst another version in 18K yellow gold is limited to just seven pieces.
