Henry Golding Knows Exactly How You Should Wear A Double Breasted Suit
Henry Golding Knows Exactly How You Should Wear A Double Breasted Suit

He’s the leading man of one of this year’s biggest box office hits but beyond Henry Golding‘s affluent on-screen persona lies something even cooler: bloody good dress sense.

At a recent screening of Crazy Rich Asians at The Ham Yard Hotel in London, Golding stepped out in a regal double breasted suit which David Beckham would be proud of. Golding’s dark grey suit was perfectly fitted around his frame and complemented with a light blue shirt and tie. It’s a classic cut and colour combination which makes for a textbook win in the menswear game.

And we can’t forget the Cartier Tank timepiece peeking through his sleeve. Again, textbook classicism in the menswear game done right. Further helping out the look are a polished pair of brown leather boots.

If there were any uncertainties on how a double breasted suit should be worn then ask no more – Henry Golding has answered that question.

Panerai Brings The Deep Blue Sea To Its New Radiomir 1940 3 Days Watches

A thousand shades of the blue sea sounds like 999 shades too many, but this is the latest from Panerai’s Radiomir 1940 3 Days collection.

The standout feature you need to know about for this release?

A striking new dial design across the models which features a tonal blue that is tinged darker on the outer section and gradually lighter towards the centre. This aesthetic appointment created by Panerai’s ‘satiné soleil’ workmanship not only makes for an elegant timepiece but also ensures that legibility isn’t compromised with the brighter numeral markings.

Five models will come under the new collection with a variation of sizes, case material and functions. The Radiomir 1940’s signature cushion case remains across all five models as well as a blue alligator strap with contrasting beige sewing. There’s also the option of a spare blue rubber strap across all models, or a blue fabric one for the 42 mm model.

These are the key features of each timepiece.

Hamish Blake Reveals How Growing A Beard Changed His Life
Hamish Blake Reveals How Growing A Beard Changed His Life

Men, let’s be honest. How many times have you thought of growing a beard? Not a bit of stubble: I mean a full on, caveman-style beard. If you are halfway there, or are considering taking baby steps, we got Hamish Blake on the line to offer you a few words of insight. Why Hamish? Well apart from the fact that he’s one of Australia’s most loved comedians, radio hosts, and actors, he’s also spent the last 8 months growing out his beard as part of a charity initiative “Beard Season“. The challenge ended last Friday but guess what—he ain’t getting rid of it. As you’ll see: there are disadvantages. But these unexpected side effects of growing a beard were enough to convince him to keep it—for now.

1. Growing A Beard Boosted His ‘Ruggedness’

Guess what: you don’t have to be a social scientist to see that a beard increases your rough-hewn good looks. As Hamish told us, “I’m going to say it’s doubled my ruggedness, but let’s not forget the power of statistics here. It’s taken me from a one out of ten to a two, so I’m seeing a huge return.”

2. It Taught Him Patience

Assuming you make it from “bum fluff” to “viking” growing a beard will endow you with some serious patience. The hardest part for most people, according to Hamish, “Is meant to be the itching.” For him though this isn’t a problem (“luckily my wife runs a skin care empire and her Go-To Face Hero oil is the most luscious beard secret in the biz”). The challenge that required most patience for Hamish was, “Maintaining the top lip shape to avoid the catfish look.”

3. It Gave Him Human Solidarity

When I began growing a beard on January 1 this year, it was mostly because I wanted to be able to achieve a New Years resolution with little to no actual effort. Just by having a face and being alive, I achieved my goal. However I then came across the incredible movement @beardseason, started by the man pictured, Jimmy, whose sole aim is to grow beards as conversation starters to spread the word about getting a skin cancer check at you GP no matter your age or how sure you are your skin is fine. Too many people find something too late, Beard Season wants to make skin checks for you and your loved ones top of mind so that doesn’t happen. As a former pale kid who is now a current pale adult with a religious skin check regime, I couldn’t have been happier to support the launch of Beard Season 2018 last night. Turns out I accidentally grew a charity beard, for a great cause. Now get your skin checked so I can tell my beard it’s doing its job. Thank you

A post shared by Hamish Blake (@hamishblakeshotz) on

One surprising benefit of letting your inner masculine warrior come to the fore is, “Solidarity with other beard wearers.” According to Hamish, “We’re a brethren and I didn’t know this existed before getting into it. I’m not religious but I imagine this is the same buzz you get from being part of one of those.”

4. It Taught Him To Overcome Adversity

Why run a marathon or climb Everest when you can grow a beard? Hamish said that his new look made it harder to get through airport security—but not for the reason you might think. “When it’s freshly oiled… security agents want to pat it lovingly and talk about my oilling routine.” Oh and in terms of parenting, “It’s surprisingly exciting for a one year old to grab and pull as hard as she can it seems!”

5. It Spiced Up His Marriage

Why should one spouse have all the fun (and hairdressers’ bills)? Hamish says growing a beard has, “Been a surprise hit, and no one was more surprised than me… I think because my wife changes her hair every few months she feels like she keeps giving me exciting new looks and I’d been running the same game for 8 years… (now) finally she feels like she’s got something new to play with!”

A Dating Expert Reveals How Confidence Improves Your Attractiveness
A Dating Expert Reveals How Confidence Improves Your Attractiveness

There’s a fine line between genius and insanity or between pleasure and pain. In the dating world there’s another fine line every man needs to know about.

Confidence on one side. Arrogance on the other side. And in between are a lot of confused men slipping in the wrong direction which leads them to fail with women (or men).

Confidence is hugely overrated when it comes to meeting women. No, that isn’t a typo. Placing too much weight on confidence can be a dangerous, counterproductive thing for a man’s growth and his potential to score a partner.

If you’re finding that you repel women like a bad smell in an elevator the second you open your mouth, here’s why along with the solution.

Secrets Of An Attractive Man

We tend to assume that people are – or are not – confident. That it’s intrinsic, not learned. A man either has it or he doesn’t, like naturally straight teeth or a genetic predisposition for baldness. We treat confidence as a matter of fate. The lucky ones get a golden ticket to ride the ‘success with ladies’ train. Everyone else gets an excuse to not even try.

What is arguably more attractive than a confident man is a man who is able to muster up the balls to take action even though he is shitting himself. Not only is that a more realistic approach, it’s also more endearing to a lot of ladies and potential partners.

The bottom line? Attractiveness is fostered from confidence as looks can only take an asshole so far. Ever hear a woman say: “There’s just something about him…”

That’s confidence in play that manifests into a little thing called charm – James Bond has it, and now you will too.

You’re Not Born With Confidence

Confidence is developed. Take everything you’ve heard that says otherwise and chuck it in the bin where it belongs.

Sure, it seems that some gents have it from the day they slip from the womb, but in fact their confidence is a combination of upbringing and (likely forgotten) events that were early catalysts for its development.

You weren’t confident your first day at work. You don’t pick up the flute and pipe away like a Grammy winner. Why do we think this area is different?

Personally, I was never confident with women. It took years of approaching to develop it. And that’s the key word here: development. My intention is not to teach guys to get girls and run straight back to their rooms. My goal is to help them develop into better men.

That’s why cultivating confidence is so important. It’s not about scoring the only 10 in the bar (although that’s a perk). Build enough confidence in one area of your life and it will spill over to all areas. Two birds, one stone. Only way less cute wildlife has to die.

Beware Confidence’s Evil Cousin

We all have that one relative who makes us wish we could saw a branch off the family tree. For confidence, that familial disappointment is arrogance.

Arrogance comes in two forms.

The first and most common is the classic case of overcompensation. The overcompensator feels painfully average. He believes he isn’t enough as he is, so he feigns what he believes to be strong “confidence”. The more insecure he feels, the more “confidence” he displays. Unfortunately, his strategy backfires for a couple of reasons.

First, due to the general lack of social intelligence that’s characteristic of these gents, he doesn’t realise that he’s penetrated deep into enemy arrogance territory.

Second, anyone with a shred of social awareness sees through his act to the scared little lad beneath. These chaps usually end up dating women with low self-esteem, who either don’t see through the subterfuge or simply decide to tolerate it.

RELATED: 10 Bad Habits Every Man Should Avoid

The second form of arrogance is narcissistic. This clown actually believes he is better than everyone else. Studies show that 1% of the population are psychopaths – so there are, without a doubt, a certain number of guys out there who legitimately think they are God’s gift to mankind.

Also worth a mention are the people who are unfairly labelled as arrogant by stone-throwers. Stone-throwers call others arrogant when what they’re really reacting to is their own insecurities being stirred up by the actions of these people. It’s easier to blame externally than to look internally.

If you have even a hint of success or a “go get ’em” attitude, it’s likely that some will think you’re arrogant. Stone-throwers will not climb the mountain themselves, but they sure as hell don’t want anyone else getting up there either.

Why It Could Make Or Break Your Dating Life

Point blank: arrogance attracts crazy women.

It doesn’t matter if it’s real narcissistic arrogance or feigned overcompensating arrogance.

Either way, like attracts like. Your bad attitude will draw in women with daddy issues, women who respond to being put down, women who are too dim to see through the crap, women who will burn your cat because you smiled at your neighbour.

That’s not to say confidence is bad. It’s a powerful asset, one of the strongest in your personal arsenal, but it needs to be seen for what it is. Confidence is not a magical elixir dished out to a select few. It’s something that ANYONE (yes, even you) can, and should, develop.

Treat confidence like any other skill. Take action. Don’t wait for it. It will come once you start.

United Airlines Paid A Female Passenger Not To Report Her Creepy Seatmate
United Airlines Paid A Female Passenger Not To Report Her Creepy Seatmate

The seatbelt light is off, your phone is is on airplane mode, and you’re cruising hundreds of feet in the air. No-one can contact you, let alone bother you: except your fellow passengers.

When you travel you expect to be in a safe environment, exposed to (at worst) sub-par plane-food, lacklustre coffee and severely cramped legs. However, as one unfortunate United Airlines passenger just found out, some people are just as gross in the air as they are on ground zero.

It has just come out that on August the 11th, a 21 year old woman, Mikaela Dixon was seated on a United Airlines flight from California to Illinois, in between her boyfriend (on the window side) and a 50 year old man (on the aisle side). Then, while her boyfriend was asleep, the stranger next to her began “rubbing himself” and “breathing heavily” (she told Buzzfeed).

Confusingly, when she pointed out the man’s behaviour to her boyfriend, he replied, “It’s absolutely what you think it is,” (Buzzfeed), and went back to sleep. She then endured another hour and a half, sitting in shock, unable to react until the man went to the toilet towards the end of the flight. At this point she reported the incident to the crew, but the man, realising that he’d been caught, “bolted” after landing. On his way out the airport he was briefly detained by United’s security crew, then released.

Dixon then alleged (via Twitter) that, “United airlines gave me $75 and told me I’m not allowed to know what happens to him unless I press charges against him… Sooo I got my hush money and now I have to wonder forever whether this guy got away with it? F*** that.”

She then added, “Basically, United lied about everything, let the man go after a few questions, and refused to involve law enforcement until I called the cops myself and forced them to file a report w the FBI.”

Basically, the airline told Dixon they would call the police to meet the man at the gate, but then changed their mind, as reported by Yahoo Lifestyle, “At the discretion of the flight crew and gate agent.”

“The safety and well-being of our customers is our top priority. Our customer was immediately moved to a different seat when the flight attendants were made aware of the issue and the aircraft was met by our security personnel. We are investigating the matter to learn more about what happened. Although United Airlines, as a company, cannot press charges on our customers’ behalf, we will provide as much assistance as possible to law enforcement authorities should they investigate this matter further,” United Airlines have since said, in a statement.

Justin Bieber Shows You How To Revive The Lost & Forgotten Styles Of Summer

You’ve seen it on Tom Selleck during his peak of the Magnum P.I. days, you’ve seen it rocked by men during the iconic sunset days of Miami’s summer in the 70s. Today, you get to see it on…Justin Bieber.

You heard right. The 24-year-old pop star has been out and about in New York City and California in recent weeks with fiancee Hailey Baldwin and his look couldn’t be any cooler with cues taken straight out of the lost and forgotten pages of 70s menswear with a hint of modern dad fashion thrown in (more on that in a bit).

Let us break it down for you.

A post shared by UpscaleHype (@upscalehype) on

Bieber rocks the classic oversized Hawaiian shirt here by Amiri featuring big collars and rolled-up sleeves, wide leg trousers by Dickies x Cherryl Los Angeles and a cap to complete this very period-correct look. From then on it’s a free-for-all with Bieber taking the essence of the style and modifying it as he sees fit.

We will say this – it’s sure better than his usual run-of-the-mill T-Shirt rotation.

Hit the gallery to see how Bieber is single-handedly bringing back this iconic 70s look to modern menswear.

On-Board Gyms Could Improve Qantas' Long-Haul Flights, But There's A Catch
On-Board Gyms Could Improve Qantas' Long-Haul Flights, But There's A Catch

When Qantas announced they would be launching an ultra long-haul flight from Sydney to London, they generated a lot of speculation. How long will it take? How will passengers be kept entertained? Will the risk of DVT increase? Most importantly, seeing as such long haul flights may not be able to carry freight, “What are they going to do with the extra space in the cargo hold?”

“Qantas executives said they expect their aircraft… may not be able to carry freight, which is why the airline is open to using the cargo hold for passenger berths,” (Skift).

Bunk beds for rent, kids play areas, and gyms were all floated as ideas. And although Qantas CEO Alan Joyce didn’t rule anything out, the most likely to become a reality are gyms and sleep pods (available at a price). Anyone who has ever flown cattle-class on a long haul flight will know, having space to stretch your legs, or even do a light workout would be a godsend. However, implemented incorrectly this luxury could also compromise passengers health, comfort and safety.

Currently, there are a multitude of studies on the impact of long haul flights on exercise, but zero data around the impact of exercise on one’s experience of a long haul flight. Mainly because on-board gyms do not yet exist on commercial airlines. But they could well soon. So before people start getting stuck in squat racks as planes shake with turbulence, we thought we’d talk to industry experts—to get the lowdown on whether mile-high exercise is a good idea.

We hit up Chief Brabon, a fitness director and celebrity transformation coach, to see what he thought of the proposal. According to him, with the right kind of planning and with the inclusion of someone to supervise the area, (as well as guidance for those a little unsure what to do), “It is a fantastic idea.”

“I take quite a few long haul flights with Qantas each year, and I know that with some of the spinal issues that I have, or even when I am travelling to race, it would be fantastic to have an area to stretch out and get a little movement back mid flight.”

In terms of the risks, Chief pointed out that turbulence would be difficult to overcome, and any on-board gym would need to be designed with this in mind.

“The obvious inherent risk of training on a flight would be injury during turbulence. For that reason the area might be better to focus on body weight training, yoga or pilates based exercises that don’t require equipment beyond possibly some safer items such as resistance bands.”

“As with any training, there is always some risk of injury,” he added. “If there is any kind of turbulence, or even if the passenger simply feels a little unstable while doing any standing exercises such as jumping-jacks or running on the spot, it would be easy for them to lose balance and roll an ankle or worse.” For this reason, he recommended a pilates studio style layout.

“I think its would be great to have an area specifically designed for mat based pilates inspired exercises that would allow individuals to relieve muscular aches from being in a seated position for so long, as well as general joint mobility exercises to keep the body from tightening up, and to also alleviate the risk of DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis).”

Tony Webber, CEO of Airline Intelligence and Research, agreed, telling The New Daily that, “From a medical perspective, an in-flight gym would be a good way to prevent deep vein thrombosis (DVT).”

Only twenty years ago the sort of luxury we now see in the sky from Emirates and Etihad would have been inconceivable. So whether it happens in the next few years or not—don’t write off the board gym.
