New York City has long had a reputation for having a particularly unaffordable and challenging property market. Small properties, crazy prices, and terrible landlords (such as a little-known businessman called Donald J. Trump). However, this property listing adds another insalubrious feather to New York’s proverbial cap: it now may also be the ‘raunchiest’ property market in the world.
For some context, at the end of 2019 the median house price in the United States was just under 227,000 USD, and the average monthly rent for an apartment across the country was around 1447 USD. However, the median house price in NYC was over three times that at $760,000, and average monthly rent also much higher at $3,323.
But with the economic fallout precipitated by the 2020 COVID-19 crisis, things have changed. America remains the epicentre for the virus, and New York has been particularly badly affected. There are almost 234,000 active cases in NYC alone – for reference, that’s more than all of France and Australia’s active cases combined.

America’s economy is taking a nosedive, as is the New York property market. That’s forced the industry to hustle even harder than usual – and ‘hustle’ seems to be the operative word here, as one sleazy landlord has taken the oldest adage in business to heart. Namely, ‘sex sells’.
News.com.au reported on a hilarious property listing on New York’s Upper West Side that’s not only cut its monthly rent by 10% but has also chosen a novel sales tactic to try and hawk off the apartment.
“HIDE & SEEK (adult-style),” the description starts off.
“A sexy king-size one bedroom where you’ll find four, deep closets in which you can hide from your very, naughty playmate. And should you be lucky enough to be found, the two of you can retreat to the king-size bedroom where you both can romp and play, all night.”
“Tired of playing with only the two of you? Well then, invite many more dutty [sic] guests to partake in communal games, held in your stadium-sized living room. However, be mindful not to let your guests stay past dawn though, else they’ll sure to be beamed by glaring sunlight; not good for the ‘walk of shame’.”
It’s certainly an imaginative way to sell an otherwise unremarkable apartment, but we’re not sure that the sexual description has done the landlord any favours. As of the 21st of August, this apartment is still available to lease, with the description changed to something much more tame.
“Stadium-sized living room. 4 spacious closets. A kitchen you can actually cook and eat in. Southern and Eastern windows, all about. Cheap. That’s all, folks.”
We admire their sense of humour, at least. The listing was also posted to Reddit, where one commenter noted that they’d “be too nervous of what a black light would find to rent that place.”
Whether a similar sales tactic would find any success in Sydney’s insane property market remains to be seen.

This story was originally published on Car Rave.Honestly – where to start with this divisive but tough Hummer H1 Alpha Widebody, currently listed for sale on Facebook Marketplace. It’s hard to pick just one defining feature, as the list of modifications reads like a how-to guide on how to launder drug money. But I will say this, I don’t think I have ever seen an H1 with a body kit. Nor have I seen one with a marble bench fitted inside (I can’t possibly imagine what that is for *touches nose*). I also don’t think I have seen one that looks so well set up for offroading (although I can’t imagine you’ll find it parked out the front of Dargo pub any time soon). Also, it has a flux capacitor… so there’s THAT.
In the owner’s own words…
“The body and flares have been fully custom made [and] modified from top to bottom. This Hummer is fully engineered for everything in NSW and QLD. Has NSW rego and TUFF-H1 plates.”“This vehicle took 3 years in the making and thousands of hours. Cost over $400,000 and is the only one in the world. A real head-turner. Just been fully serviced. Drives very smooth and fast… [the] only one of its kind.”

When you finish a long day hiking you want filling food. For one unfortunate tourist, this was not to be, as he ordered a $10 salad only to be given a plate of undressed tomatoes and a pinch of limp onion.
The man, who had been on a hiking tour in Amrum, an island in Germany, took to Reddit on Wednesday to express his dismay (and a photo of said atrocity).
From “haha ‘salad'” and “I wouldn’t pay for this sh*t” to “classic tourist trap” the comments were brutal.
“What? Do you want us to chew it for you too? – Angry German Cook.”
“That salad is sadder than my life,” another wrote.
The discussion then went beyond the immediate issue (as The Sun reports, it’s hardly the first time tourists have been ripped off) and started hinting at what this ‘salad’ represents for the future of travel.
“Why make the effort? So you can keep some of the little dignity you have left? Tourists are paying their salaries and they rip them off, that’s disgraceful.”
While Germany has never been known for its vegetables, and while this salad is an absurd, isolated incident, as the pandemic sweeps the world, experts agree travel will get more expensive.

Perhaps we’ll have to get used to getting less bang for our buck?
Food for thought.

If you overheard someone talking about ‘Mark Wahlberg’s latest flex’ you’d rightfully assume they were talking about his newest workout routine. The Hollywood actor is well-known for his incredible physique, and regularly shares fitness advice on his social media accounts.
But in this instance, they wouldn’t be talking about his biceps, they’d be talking about his latest and greatest watch pickup.
On holiday in the picturesque Ozark Mountains in the American Midwest, Wahlberg shared a photo of him behind the helm of an expensive-looking speedboat, flashing a ‘peace’ sign and showing off an 18k white gold Rolex Cosmograph Daytona.
Wahlberg’s clearly in full holiday mode, wearing some funky shark-print board shorts and showing off a gut that’s a little softer-looking than usual (although he’s still in spectacular shape – it’s hardly a ‘dad bod‘).
Most commenters weren’t focused on the watch, however – it was Marky Mark’s “trucker tan” that had people gossiping. Even Drake and Josh star Josh Peck weighed in.
“Mark having T-shirt tan lines in this photo proves that he’s one of us and I’m here for it,” the actor and comedian joked.
The T-shirt tan gives off big dad vibes, but not every dad has the panache (or bank account) to pull off the Rolex Wahlberg’s wearing.

This Daytona (ref.116509) is an incredibly classy timepiece and another worthy addition to Wahlberg’s already impressive collection. Retailing for 55,550 AUD, this stunning chronograph features a fixed tachymetric 18k white gold bezel and beautifully finished, deep ocean-blue dial – it’s the perfect watch to wear when you’re behind the wheel of a luxury motorboat.
Well-known for his love of Rolexes, Wahlberg already owns a black-and-white Oystersteel Daytona (ref.116500LN) as well as an iced-out ‘Playtona’ (ref.116576TBR). Other Rolex models such as Day-Dates, GMT-Masters and Submariners also feature in his collection, as do watches from other ‘holy trinity’ Swiss brand, Patek Philippe.
Clearly, his taste in watches is just as superb as his rig.

You can say many things about Dan Bilzerian, but you can’t say he’s in bad shape. The actor, Internet personality, entrepreneur and professional gambler loves to flex his awesome rig as well as his ludicrous lifestyle, sharing gratuitous photos of girls, luxury goods and crazy exploits with his over 32 million Instagram followers. The 2020 COVID-19 crisis has seemingly slowed down his usual antics somewhat – he’s no longer able to travel around with a fleet of models thanks to social distancing – but he’s still staying in shape during lockdown, as his most recent Instagram story reveals.Bilzerian shared footage of his latest workout on his Instagram story yesterday, effortlessly smashing pull-ups on the deck of a superyacht at sea, the pull-up handles dangling from the boat’s boom.
Pull-ups are one of the best calisthenic exercises you can incorporate into a workout routine, as they’re great for building your back, shoulders and arms. Most people just use a doorframe pull-up bar or use a gym frame, but clearly that’s not good enough for Bilzerian. He’s not the only celebrity who’s been combining physical fitness with schmoozing on superyachts. Zlatan Ibrahimovic was recently papped in Saint-Tropez working out whilst chilling on a million-dollar yacht, and Cristiano Ronaldo also took to Instagram to show off his nautical exploits (and amazing summer body.)It’s quite fitting really. Not only are Bilzerian, Ibrahimovic and Ronaldo rich enough to enjoy such exercising in such luxury, but they’ve also all got astronomical egos and aren’t afraid to show it.And we thought gym memberships were expensive.Watch how to get ripped like Dan Bilzerian below

Forget the wildlife; Australia is home to some terrifying slabs of water. Whether it’s Western Australia’s open ocean swells, South Australia’s angular reef breaks or Northern NSW’s sharky points, there’s a bit of everything. Then there’s Cape Solander – a Sydney slab dubbed Cape Fear by Red Bull, Ours by the Bra Boys and Pikers Hole by the first individuals to ride it back in the ’60s.Located around the corner from Sydney’s Botany Bay, Solander is arguably Australia’s scariest wave, and became Australia’s most controversial surf spot in the 2000s when the Bra Boys violently staked it as their own, resulting in a number of high profile confrontations (and jiu-jitsu holds). While there are bigger waves in Australia (see: The Right, Shipsterns Bluff), none are as shallow, localised or as close to dry rock.
View this post on Instagram
Though these days the localism has calmed a little, it’s still tense when there’s a swell, and the oysters remain sharp. What happens when you kiss them?Professional big wave surfer Mark Mathews once told Red Bull, “I’ve had so many times where I’ve taken the first wave of the set and nosedived on the takeoff – enough times to know that when that happens, you’re going to be driven straight into the ‘surgeon’s table’.”
“We call it that because it’s a flat bed of reef that’s straight in front of the take-off. Oh, and it also covered in barnacles.”
“Chances are you’ll break a bone on impact, but if you’re one of the lucky ones, then you’ll just have some serious slices to deal with. Then, when you’re bruised and bleeding body finally gets to the surface, you’ll look up and see what’s coming – about four more monsters with 4-foot thick lips coming straight at you.”
“They literally impale you onto the cliff face. It’s not fun, to say the least. If you’re out at Ours when it’s heavy, you better make that drop…”
These words in mind, I rocked up to Solander early yesterday morning, to enjoy the remnants of what has been one of the best runs of swell Sydney has had in years.Taking yet more Red Bull advice (see: ‘So, You Really Want To Surf Cape Fear?‘), it wasn’t an ‘obvious’ swell, with the forecast showing dubious winds and dropping 3-5ft waves (not exactly the 8ft monsters the place is known for). After missing the entry, entering the car park via the exit, and half expecting a national park ranger (or an angry Maroubra mob) to be coming out the other way, I pulled up to an almost empty dirt lot and a three wave set. There were three people in the water, but no takers. My friend and I suited up and walked over, trying to look as though we’d been there a million times. This proved difficult as we had no idea where to jump off, and were both sporting Channel Islands surfboards. As far as the locals were concerned, we were either pros or kooks. An image we were hoping would be enough to get us one decent wave before it all became clear. We jumped down three barnacle-covered steps and into the mottled green water.Paddling through clumps of foam I tried not to think about Bulls or Whites or seals. As it tends to go, my first wave was my best. The current kept pulling people deeper, and as I sat wide, I snagged an unridden, mid-sized one… right at the steepest point.I soon found myself backwards, upside down, doing the cockroach wiggle across the rocks (it was more of a gentle back massage but hey, who’s counting).I eventually got back on my board, with a river of water pulling me towards the cliff and another wave approaching. I duck dived, got pushed even closer to the rocks, then paddled to the channel as the current loosened. The rest of the session was a lesson in frustration. I saw twenty or so perfect waves, maybe five horrendous wipeouts, and realised unless you’re willing to throw yourself over the edge of what looks a hopeless cause, you’re not going to get barrelled.
View this post on Instagram
I also discovered to get a good wave you have to sit deep, which is impossible to do without committing yourself to a trip to the cliff if you mess it up.It’s also hard to do without getting in the way.Considering my first wave, which I caught from a wide position, gave me a scare with the rocks, and considering I was on my best lineup behaviour, sitting properly deep proved tricky. Then came my chance.A set, bigger than any all morning, came. The main guys whistled, but no one turned.“Onboard special!” one yelled.Onboard being a surf store that sells Channel Island surfboards, I thought he was f*cking with us.Fortunately, I didn’t have the courage to go anyway, the thing closed out all along the cliff, and a bodyboarder popped out from the end of it.“Bodyboard special.”The subconscious is cruel.I did the paddle of shame with my mate, and then we hung around in the shark zone trying to figure out where to get back onto the rocks. We spent about 10 minutes like this, waiting for the right size swell to lift us on, before a 16-year-old arrived, looked at us with scorn and ‘rocked on’ in two seconds. If that’s not surfing in Sydney I don’t know what is.

From freshly baked croissants in Paris to getting pick-pocketed in Madrid, some travel experiences are as iconic as they are stereotypical. In recent years, this has led some travellers to eschew the world’s great cities in favour of their little brothers and sisters (think: Rome for Milan, Biarritz for Paris, etc.).
This phenomenon recently became a trending topic on Reddit, with the thread “Your favourite ‘second cities’ (and beyond!)” yesterday amassing 419 comments in 24 hours in the r/solotravel community.
While some choices were cliché, others were intriguing. And even the obvious options often came with insightful advice.
To give you some context, the poster of the thread threw the question out there in the following spirit: “We see a lot of first-timers planning big capital-hopping trips, especially in Europe. But ‘second cities’ and other regional hubs often have a charm of their own: still urban in spirit, but a bit more modest and closer to their national/regional culture than the cosmopolitan capitals.”
“What are your favourite ‘second cities’ and regional hubs? Has a ‘second city’ ever changed the opinion you formed of a country after visiting its capital?”
Perhaps the most surprising choice for a great ‘second city’ came in the top comment: Ghent. Ghent is a municipality in the Flemish region of Belgium, and the capital and largest city of the East Flanders province. It’s also not very well known to travellers.
View this post on Instagram
One Reddit commenter, however, loved it: “Ghent 100%. Brussels wasn’t someplace I wanted to revisit. Antwerp felt as if I was intruding and Bruges while worth a visit felt overhyped and over-touristed. Ghent on the other hand felt fresh and full of charm.”
Two other Reddit user agreed: “Ghent is great! Bruges is charming but small and not too much too see. Brussels, I agree, I’m not dying to go back to!”
“With Ghent I got the feeling that I was in a real university town, and in a stunningly beautiful place that hadn’t yet been overrun by crowds of international tourists. A local Belgian I befriended in Bruges also told me that ;the best nightlife in Bruges is in Ghent’. It was definitely something special.”
It wasn’t just Belgium travellers had recommendations for.
One recommended Salzburg as Austria’s second city. Why? “Salzburg is beautiful, full of history, and also a great hub for exploring the Alps,” the user wrote. “I also found it to be a lot of fun going out at night.”
View this post on Instagram
The same user recommended Galway as an alternative to Dublin: “[It] is just the perfect size city in my opinion. Extremely walk-able with tons of places to shop, eat, and stop for a pint and some live music.”
In a third flourish, the user gave Nice the green light as one of France’s many second cities: “aesthetically pleasing and has the added benefit of great weather. It is also very walk-able, and is a really great spot to relax for a few days in the midst of a busy sightseeing trip. It’s also very centrally located to other locations in the South of France – my favorite being The Verdon Gorge.”
The Verdon Gorge, one of the must-see natural wonders of central Provence, is perfect for a few days drive (or more) and offers “spectacular views and cuisine all along the way.”
View this post on Instagram
Floating over to more frigid waters, users also recommended Bergen over Oslo if you’re going to Norway: “Oslo is a great city, but Bergen is right by the water and has a much more Nordic feel. Plus it’s much closer to the fjords, and let’s face it, that’s why you’re in Norway to begin with.”
Another user said they enjoyed Glasgow more than Edinburgh because it felt like a real, gritty city, not one giant tourist attraction.
“The people of Glasgow are some of the most friendly and outrageously funny folks I’ve met. Also a gorgeous city in its own gritty way. Lovely architecture, brilliant music scene, top notch pubs and public parks/attractions, it’s truly got it all.”
In a similar way, other users said they enjoyed Spain’s lower-key cities, in one’s words, “not [because] Madrid is bad, just… Sevilla and Granada felt more rustic and laid-back compared to the more modern capital.”
View this post on Instagram
Likewise, users expressed a great love for the Galápagos Islands’ quaint Isla Isabela over the more populous islands of San Cristóbal and Santa Cruz.
“Isabela is less populated, less touristy, more natural, and has much more interesting terrains and tours than the more populous islands.”
In another geographical quickstep, travellers also raved about some of the lesser-visited parts of the USA’s Texas: “Although Dallas and Houston have most of Texas’s population, I strongly prefer Austin/San Antonio/Hill Country for traveling,” one wrote.
“Dallas and Houston are flat corporate megacities while Austin and San Antonio are better representations of Texas history, food, and culture. Did I mention they have hills?”
Apparently the concept holds true in Japan too: “Osaka is honestly still pretty big and a massive tourism hub. Most people’s first trip to Japan hits Osaka/Kyoto/Tokyo in one go,” one user wrote.
“I would recommend Sapporo for something that’s actually a bit less popular but still has a lot to offer.”
“I’d take Sapporo or Kyoto. I can just stay in Kyoto without going to Osaka or Tokyo. I love how certain areas make you feel like you’re in feudal Japan. Sapporo is a dream and is very pretty in the winter. So easy to navigate with their grid plan. And it’s near Niseko.”

Chris Hemsworth is a man loved by many all around the world. He’s a marvellous actor, a doting dad, and a constant source of fitness and nutrition inspiration, and his latest Instagram post provides some nutrition information that will surely resonate with many fitness fans (if not fanatics).Celebrating his 37th birthday on the 11th of August, the Australian actor did what we all love to do when we turn a year older, eat cake. Although, rather than just take a slice for himself, Chris’ birthday wish was to demolish the entire thing by himself, adding, perhaps literally tongue in cheek, “My kids weren’t happy but their punches felt like a soft massage”, such is his ridiculous rig.
The post also serves up a subtle message (or at least, example): occasional cheat days are absolutely fine. It’s a hotly debated topic within the fitness space, with some experts claiming that just one trip to ‘Junkfoodville’ can have incredibly damaging ramifications. At least, if you’re trying to lose weight.Others like Hemsworth would appear to be of the school of thought that, as long as they don’t happen very often, it’s healthy to allow yourself some flexibility.Others take it even further, suggesting that cheat day calories can provide the fuel you need to build muscle, just as long as you do indeed put the time in at the gym.One such advocate of the cheat day is Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, a man with muscles so large we genuinely wonder how he finds clothes to fit, and who commented on Chris’ image, saying “Happy birthday brother” finished with a whiskey emoji. The Rock has previously said that a cheat meal could give your “more vascularity.” And with a rig such as his, we’re inclined to believe him.
“In a crazy science, these cheat meals tonight should actually help my physique come in with a more fuller pump and vascularity for tomorrow’s shoot.”
View this post on Instagram
It’s not just him wanting to gorge on junk every now and then, but rather his strength and conditioning coach telling him to load up.
“Got the glorious text from my strength & conditioning coach that read ‘DJ, need a mid-week carb up for your big scenes tomorrow. Eat a pizza and send me your pics in the morning.’”
So, while it can be resolutely agreed that a life of constant junk food will do no good for you or your gains (especially as it’s a vanishingly small portion of the world that work out like The Rock), with both The Rock and now Chris Hemsworth being advocates of one-off, cheeky cheat meals, we think it’s completely fine for you to snack every now and then – provided your day to day is on point.
