The BMW M3 has always been one of the purest enthusiast cars on the market… And while the temptation to opt for an automatic instead of a manual has never been stronger, there’s still plenty of joy to be found by shifting gears yourself.
The sixth-generation BMW M3, officially designated the G80, might not be the most powerful ‘M car’ in BMW’s lineup – that honour goes to the M8 Competition – but it’s probably the best, along with its coupe sibling the G82 M4 (which is effectively the same car).
Both the new M3 and M4 are powered by the S58 3.0L twin-turbo straight-six engine (first used in the G01 X3 M) which in ‘base’ guise makes a hefty 353kW/550Nm and rockets from 0-100km/h in 4.2 seconds. So far, so sexy. But here’s where it gets confusing, and here’s where the thesis of this article starts.
It used to be the case that performance car brands would gatekeep their fastest specs or models behind manual transmissions. These days, it’s quite the opposite, with modern automatic or dual-clutch transmissions far more efficient than even the best drivers.
And that’s what BMW has done with the M3/M4. If you want BMW’s xDrive all-wheel-drive system on your M3 and/or you want the faster Competition spec (which boosts power to 375kW/650 Nm + 0-100km/h in 4.0sec), you have to go with an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission. The manual is only available in the rear-wheel-drive ‘base’ spec… Although calling an M car ‘base spec’ seems a bit inappropriate.
That presents you with one hell of a moral dilemma.

If you’re getting a sports car, performance should be your number one priority. What’s the point of getting a sports car? To go fast. But if you want the fastest M3, you have to give up the manual.
This isn’t the first time BMW’s done something like this. The mental E46 M3 CSL was only available with a 6-speed SMG II automated transmission, for example. And we know that most customers don’t like to shift gears themselves (most Aussies can’t even drive a manual). But we can’t help but feel it’s a bit of a shame.
Why? Because the manual BMW M3 is an absolute gem of a car. The six-speed manual in the new M3 is easily the best manual transmission I’ve ever had the pleasure to try. Notchy yet smooth; a nice short throw that doesn’t feel too uncouth; nicely spaced gears and the perfect biting point…
It’s the kind of transmission I wish my car had when I was learning to drive manual. It’s bizarrely forgiving – which is quite frankly rather dangerous in a car this powerful. It fits that classic BMW touring car character perfectly; a car that’s gentlemanly enough to drive the family around in during the week, yet manic and capable enough when you want to rev up to 6,000 on the Autobahn.
RELATED: The New Audi S3 Is The Swiss Army Knife Of Sports Cars
Speaking of, the other advantage of the manual is it makes it easier for you to hear that engine purr. The S58 in the M3 is easily one of the best-sounding motors on the market right now, and that quad exhaust does it justice. That’s to say nothing about how it lays rubber.
Saying the M3 is fast is a bit of a ‘duh’ statement, but the thing that really impressed me is how well it handles. It’s not quite as taut as an M2 but it’s pretty close, and it’d even give a Porsche 911 a run for its money in the handling department; it’s that good.

Oh, and the car that transmission is attached to? Heaven. The new BMW M3 is without a doubt one of the nicest cars to be either in or out of. The interior is very well designed, ergonomic and luxurious, with a highly responsive infotainment system and just the right amount of buttons for important stuff like the A/C.
The M3 is also a pleasure to look at. Many journalists and revheads decried the new grille design when this car first came out but I have to say, it’s really grown on me – to the point where I think it’s easily the best-looking current BMW front end. The car is angular, muscular and purposeful. People stare at you when you’re in one of these things.
RELATED: BMW’s New Electric Luxury ‘Barge’ Should Have Mercedes-Benz Nervous
I’ve also had the chance to drive the new M4 Competition with the aforementioned auto box. That transmission is great, too – especially in Competition spec, which adds huge, carbon-fibre flappy paddles that really look the business. Aesthetics aside, it’s also highly responsive and very, very smooth. The extra power boost the Competition offers is great, obviously.
But I can’t help but think if I had the choice, I’d be happy having not as much power or all-wheel-drive and instead choosing the manual. I also think I’d pick the M3 over the M4 because as much as I love coupes (as well as the slightly stiffer suspension geometry of the M4) the BMW M3 is more practical; it just feels right.
Or, more to the point, the manual is just that good.
“What about the new M3 Touring” I hear you say. Well, that car is only available in Competition spec in Australia, so therefore only as an automatic. So any hand-wringing about whether you go full Euro and opt for a fast manual wagon is therefore eliminated.

The question you need to ask yourself as a prospective buyer is this: are you really willing to sacrifice horsepower for the ‘purity’ of driving a manual? And doesn’t that just fly in the face of everything you thought you knew about sports cars?
Maybe I’m just being a romantic (or being a bit old-school) and ascribing some sort of gentlemanly virtue or character to a fast four-door sedan with a manual box. Let’s be very clear: the M3 and the M4 are brilliant cars and are made even more brilliant by the addition of all-wheel-drive and/or extra power.
But BMWs are supposed to be “the ultimate driving machine”. And if you really want to drive, the M3 manual is where it’s at. I said what I said.

The French luxury watchmaker has teamed up with Australia Zoo’s international organisation dedicated to continuing the ecological work of the late Steve Irwin, Wildlife Warriors, on a very touching limited edition timepiece.
Australia, being a comparatively small and isolated watch market, tends to get overlooked by the world’s top brands for watch collaborations or special editions. That’s why it was so exciting to hear that Bell & Ross was coming out with a very Aussie new watch – and even better, it’s for a good cause.
The Bell & Ross BR 03-92 Wildlife Warriors Special Edition (ref. It also features the Wildlife Warriors logo at 6 o’clock so there’s no mistaking this piece.
All sales of the watch will support Wildlife Warriors, a non-profit charity founded by Steve and Terri Irwin in 2002 to protect injured, threatened or endangered wildlife, with a special focus on Australian wildlife. Today, with nine global conservation projects, three vast conservation properties, and a loyal following of global donors and supporters, Wildlife Warriors continues to save wildlife and carry on Steve’s dream to “save one, save the species”.

Top Gun: Maverick and War Dogs actor, Miles Teller has now revealed he’d happily play the iconic spy James Bond in the next film in the Bond franchise.
The most recent James Bond film, No Time To Die was the last time we’ll see Daniel Craig play the beloved 007 spy. And ever since No Time To Die hit cinemas late last year, there’s been non-stop speculation over who will be the next Bond.
Idris Elba, Tom Hardy, Henry Cavill, Tom Hiddleston and even Harry Styles are some of the many actors who fans have said they’d love to see play James Bond. But now Miles Teller, the actor best known for his roles in Top Gun: Maverick, War Dogs and Fantastic Four, has thrown his hat into the Bond ring.
In a recent interview with ET, Teller was asked whether he’d be interested in playing Bond in a future film and the actor said,
“Yeah. I mean, yeah perfect. I think we’re actors, you know, so maybe you can mix it up a little bit.”
Miles Teller

Of course, Teller was asked about playing Bond because just a few days ago his grandmother, Leona Flowers, took to Twitter to explain why Teller was perfect for the role.
Many replied to Flowers’ tweet saying Teller isn’t British and therefore, couldn’t be Bond. But Flowers responded that Teller can easily do a British accent. She also brought up that Teller has English ancestry, which he’s “proud of”.
“He studied acting which includes accents. He’d be great.”
Leona Flowers, Miles Teller’s grandmother
“Miles is very proud of his genetic connection to the British Isles… I think our English friends would welcome him as 007. The folks in London loved him when he was just there with the premiere of Top Gun: Maverick. He even charmed William & Kate.”
We agree with Flowers and think her grandson, Teller would be a fine choice for the next Bond film.
However, whoever gets the prestige to play Bond next won’t be decided for quite some time as long-time Bond producer Barbara Broccoli recently told Deadline that currently “nobody’s in the running” and a new Bond film is “at least two years away” from starting production.

A trio of guys appear to have had their lads’ yacht trip in Paxos cut short. Photos that have emerged online suggest the stranded sailors decided to make the most of their misfortune (or was it a f*ck up? Details remain scant) by posing for photos in the yacht’s spa and at the helm, while the vessel sank.
A lads’ yacht trip in Paxos, Greece seems to have gone wrong, with images now circulating around the world of a sinking 25-metre vessel, with three dudes in various states of repose. The vessel is reportedly a Ferretti motor yacht called Green Whisper. It was allegedly an 830 model. It hit a reef, reports say, and then began to sink with three passengers still onboard.
According to Boat International, the boat started leaking after hitting the Ýfalos Panagía reef “between the island of Paxos and mainland Greece.”
The local coastguard rescued the three stranded people on board. As Superyacht Times reports, “The Port Authorities of Corfu and Paxos were informed by the Unified Center for Coordination of Search and Rescue of the Coast Guard that the yacht Green Whisper had come into trouble.”
“Two patrol boats rushed to the scene of the yacht that had run aground, causing damage to the vessel and inflow of water.”
Superyacht Times
Superyacht Times also obtained footage of the sinking vessel, which they said was sent to them by a reader of theirs. Looking at the photos, we can only imagine the conversation that went down between the people on the boat and the coastguard (“hey, before you rescue us, do you mind snapping a few quick pics?” “Why the hell not…”).

On Instagram, one commenter, who claimed to live in the area, said on Superyacht Times’ Instagram photo: “The ship isn’t sunk. It hit some rocks and it’s just half in the water. They’re waiting on a surveyor to estimate of shell be seaworthy after repairs. There wasn’t anyone in danger and the three people on board were taken to safety by the coastguard. The rocks at that spot aren’t marked and it’s hard to know they’re there if you’re not local.”

Newsbeast reports the three people on board the yacht were fine and safely taken to the Gaios port. The local coastguard released the following statement in regards to the incident: “The beached vessel was observed to tilt due to the inflow of water and a floating barrier was installed to prevent pollution, while light buoys were also installed on the bow and stern for the safety of navigation.”

Hellas.posten.com reports that The Port of Paxos has prohibited the sailing of the ‘Green Whisper’ until “a certificate of seaworthiness was presented by the surveyor monitoring the ship, while no marine pollution was observed.”

Nick Kyrgios recently lost out to Novak Djokovic in the Gentlemen’s Singles at Wimbledon 2022. But, taking the loss in good spirits, the Australian tennis player asked the Wimbledon champion to go clubbing to celebrate.
Nick Kyrgios reached his first Grand Slam final at Wimbledon 2022 and, while his odds of winning were not in his favour, on the day he started incredibly well, winning the first set against six (now seven) time Wimbledon champion, Novak Djokovic. Ultimately, though, the more experienced Djokovic won, proving yet again why he is the best ‘returner’ of all time (or at least one of them).
During the customary speeches during the trophy-giving ceremony, Nick took the loss gracefully and said he’d now need a vacation to recover.
But, before he goes on that vacation, he reportedly (we presume at least half-jokingly) asked Novak to go clubbing to celebrate his win and the end of Wimbledon. That’s according to The Daily Mail at least, who report Djokovic “joked that he was hesitant about Kyrgios’ idea that the pair should go to a nightclub ‘and go nuts’.”
“Let’s start with dinner and drinks and then we will see,” he said.
Novak was complimentary of his Australian challenger, saying “Nick, you will be back.” Perhaps out of a tense start to their relationship (in previous matchups) a bromance could now blossom.
“I think you are a phenomenal tennis player and athlete. Amazing talent. You have been hearing all of that for many years. But now everything is starting to come together for you. So I’m sure we are going to see much of you in the later stages of a grand slam.”
“And I never thought I am going to say so many nice things about you considering, but it’s officially a bromance. Hopefully this is the start of a wonderful relationship between the two of us.”
Novak Djokovic
Of course, should the pair actually end up going clubbing together as newly formed ‘broboys’, we’re pretty sure the drinks would be flowing considering how much their Wimbledon prize money purses are. For Novak, as winner, he will receive £2 million (AU $3,515,368). Nick Kyrgios, meanwhile, as runner up still receive a huge payout to the sum of £1,050,000 (AU $1,845,532).
We’d imagine Nick would want to let his hair down regardless of whether Novak joins him or not, considering he’s had another tennis tournament filled with contentious moments (and a media environment constantly trying to make mountains out of molehills). He broke strict Wimbledon dress code rules on more than one occasion, choosing to wear a red hat and red sneakers on the court, and even when accepting his runners-up trophy from Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton.
As for Novak, we can’t see the health-conscious Serbian champ in a nightclub any time soon, but it’s entertaining to imagine. In a parallel universe, maybe…

Ask most men and they’d probably say they’d wish they had a bigger penis. But not everyone wants a bigger bell-end – and now there’s a documentary exposing the plight of men with oversized pricks.
Tentatively titled Too Large For Love, the British documentary TV production hopes to discuss the hidden problems of living with a very large penis, how it affects all aspects of life including your sex life, and what help is out there for those in need.
“We’d like to speak to people about their positive and negative experiences of having a large penis, or being with someone who has one,” the casting call says.
The casting call doesn’t specify what they consider ‘very large’, so we’ll leave that up to you to speculate…

What is the average penis size? The biggest (pun intended) study to date, which was conducted in 2014 and measured the schmeat of 15,521 men across the globe, revealed that the average length of an erect penis is 13.12cm (5.16in) and 11.66cm (4.59in) in girth.

The largest pecker on the planet reportedly belongs to 59-year-old Roberto Esquivel Cabrera from Saltillo, Mexico, who has a monster dong measuring a record-breaking 18.9in (48cm).
You can apply for Too Large For Love here. Good luck, girthy gentlemen…

It took thirty-six years for the iconic and beloved 1986 film Top Gun to get a sequel. But it may not take as long for a third Top Gun film to hit theatres.
The Top Gun sequel, Top Gun: Maverick, was released just over seven weeks ago and has already exceeded expectations; it’s critically acclaimed and has made a killing at the box office.
One of the sequel’s stars, Miles Teller, who plays Lt. Bradley ‘Rooster’ Bradshaw has revealed he’d love for the Top Gun franchise to keep on flying high; and by that we mean, Teller has said he’s definitely on board for a potential Top Gun 3.
Speaking to ET, Teller said a third Top Gun film would be “great” but it’s “all up to TC.” TC being Tom Cruise, of course.
Teller also revealed he’s even spoken to Cruise about potentially doing a Top Gun 3 but was tight-lipped on whether Cruise is as keen as he is.
“It’s all up to Tom [Cruise]. I’ve been having some conversations with him about it. We’ll see.”
Miles Teller

Considering that Cruise is currently filming the eighth Mission Impossible film, Mission: Impossible 8, and has committed to an untitled ‘SpaceX Project’ film, it’s unlikely for a third Top Gun to start filming until at least 2024.
But that doesn’t mean a Top Gun 3 won’t ever happen. Cruise, despite turning sixty last week, doesn’t plan to stop performing his own stunts anytime soon and a third Top Gun film would give him a chance to once again fly through extreme G-forces.
Hopefully, Teller is able to convince Cruise to do a Top Gun 3 sooner rather than later (or never). While we definitely want a third Top Gun film, we don’t want to wait another thirty-six years for it; that’d be the year 2058 and Cruise would be 96 years old…
