Recap Of Billions Season 5

One of the show’s lead actors, Damian Lewis, is not returning for Billions Season 6. Lewis played Axe for the first five seasons of Billions and has appeared in every episode to date. The cat and mouse game between Axe, played by Lewis, and Chuck, played by Paul Giamatti, is arguably one of the most interesting aspects of the show but that, at long last, came to an end in the explosive Season 5 finale.

As a quick recap, Chuck finally had the chance to arrest Axe, who in order to avoid going to jail for 15-25 years was going to have to take a plea deal. But in a shocking twist, Mike Prince, played by Corey Stroll, pulled a double-cross. For the whole season, Prince was aligned with Chuck and helped him in his efforts to bust Axe. But, in the final moments of the Season 5 finale, it was revealed that Prince gave Axe two billion dollars to flee the country; but in return, he would own Axe Bank & Axe Capital. Begrudgingly admitting defeat, Axe accepted and took off to Switzerland to avoid Chuck’s arrest.

The season ended with Chuck realising that he’d be outplayed; however, not by Axe this time…. By Prince, who boasts of his win and smugly tells Chuck that now he got rid of Axe, he is the metaphorical king of the castle. To which Chuck responds, “not for long, pal. Not for f**king long.”

This 30-Rep Push-Up Challenge Could Give You Arms Like A Navy SEAL
This 30-Rep Push-Up Challenge Could Give You Arms Like A Navy SEAL

We all know someone who does push-ups every morning to keep themselves strong. But we’d wager you don’t know anyone who does the kind of push-up workout David Goggins just shared on Instagram

Goggins, a retired navy SEAL and ultra-endurance athlete is known for his extreme dedication, workout motivation, and tough love attitude to fitness. His favourite slogans are “get hard” and “who’s going to carry the boats?” (a reference to his time in SEAL training) and he notoriously despises an attitude of slacking off. He has previously called out an NBA player for not training hard enough at the gym, for example.

What Goggins admires, however, are people who put their money where their mouth is. People like Russian workout fiend @ingvarvoitenko. On that note: Goggins recently shared a push-up workout that will take you to your very limits, which he says was designed by @ingvarvoitenko.

Video: David Goggins Completes Intense 30 Push Up Challenge

Speaking to his 4.6 million followers, Goggins wrote: “It is a simple 30 push-up workout that’s not so simple. You follow the words in the song as to when to go up and down. If you can’t hear the song well, just follow me.”

He then left directions for the exercise, which we have included below.

Instructions:

1. You have to keep your elbows at a 45 degree angle, they can’t be pinned against your side (which helps you hold the plank position – you can’t do that here, all the weight needs to be supported by your arms).

2. You can not touch the deck with your chest but you must go down to a 90 degree angle.

3. When you come up, you come all the way up with elbows locked out.

4. Don’t raise your butt or sway your back.

5. And, go until the song ends which lasts for 30 push-ups.

6. For those who are just starting out and want a variation of this, have the same form as above but try it on your knees.

Goggins finished by writing: “After your 30th push-up, don’t think you are done because you will have to hold your position there for a few more seconds.”

“This is a good way to start your day! Stay hard!”

It’s not one we’ll be trying in any hurry. But if you’re after a sweat session to take you to your limits, it seems a good pick.

Who knows – it could even endow you with military-looking arms, with Instagram commenters like Tyrell Dingo, whose Instagram profile says: “US Army” commenting: “We did this in Basic Training for a workout.”

If you’d like to smash the rest of your body, too, you can apply this workout technique to all sorts of things, like planks, air squats, dumbbell shoulder presses and more.

WTF Is ‘Siuuu’? The 2022 Australian Open’s Crowd Chant Explained
WTF Is ‘Siuuu’? The 2022 Australian Open’s Crowd Chant Explained

The Australian Open has only been running for a little over two days and it’s already birthed a bizarre and confusing trend.

If you were watching Nick Kyrgios‘ first round singles match against Liam Broady last night, you might have been confused by the enormous amount of booing during the game… As well as why Kyrgios was lapping it up. But the crowd wasn’t saying ‘boooo’, they were saying ‘siuuu’ – they were actually supporting our local lad, Kyrgios.

But where does it come from? Well, ‘siuuu’ is actually the signature victory cry of football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo. The legendary Manchester United player regularly makes the ‘siuuu’ cry when he scores a goal (which happens pretty often), along with his signature pirouette and chest out celebration.

Ronaldo has explained that “I started to say ‘si’, which is like ‘yes’ when I was at Real Madrid. When we win, everyone says ‘SIUUU’ and I started to say it, I don’t know why. It was natural… I always say, the best things come in a natural way,” the Portuguese phenom told DAZN Italia back in 2019.

It’s not clear why fans at the John Cain Arena decided to celebrate Kyrgios’ success with Ronaldo’s cry, but it certainly didn’t hurt Kyrgios: the 26-year-old Canberran securing a convincing 6-4 6-4 6-3 victory over Britain’s Broady.

Kyrgios also reproduced Ronaldo’s chest out celebration when he cinched his win against Broady. Image: Eurosport

Kyrgios was appreciative but bemused about the ‘siuuu’ chant during his post-game interview with Jim Courier, saying “I can’t believe they did it so much… I thought they were going to do it for like 10 minutes. They did it for two-and-a-half hours, like every point. I don’t know why…”

“It was a zoo out there.”

At one point during the game, Kyrgios even paused during his service to banter with to the crowd: “it’s too much… once every set, yeah?”

RELATED: Cristiano Ronaldo’s ‘Petty Act’ Proves Why He Is The True GOAT

Not everyone’s such a fan, however. As The Age has pointed out, “you had to feel for [Kyrgios’] opponent Liam Broady, though. He’s from Manchester in England, where Ronaldo plays for Manchester United. Broady barracks for City. If you didn’t know the ‘siuuu’ and don’t know English football, then suffice to say City and United fans don’t much like one another.”

Broadly also thought the mostly local crowd was actually booing him to start with. “It’s the first time I’ve ever walked onto a tennis court and been booed which for me was a crazy experience,” he told reporters initially.

Fellow Pom Andy Murray was also confused by the ‘siuuu’ chant, joking with reporters that it’s “painful stuff”.

“Initially, I thought it was [jeering], because there were some people booing during my practice yesterday. I have no idea what for… But then after a few times it was like: no, they’re doing that, I think it’s like ‘siuu’ or something that Ronaldo does when he scores. And, yeah, it was incredibly irritating,” he said with a smile. So he can’t be too ticked off.

While it’s great to see tennis fans so fired up to support Kyrgios and other players, we have to admit that it’s a bit annoying – and it does sound a little too close to booing. What’s wrong with a good old ‘Aussie Aussie Aussie, Oi Oi Oi’?

Elon Musk Drops Big ‘Cryptic’ Crypto Prediction
Elon Musk Drops Big ‘Cryptic’ Crypto Prediction

Elon Musk has just made a claim that has some crypto holders ecstatic and others groaning and rolling their eyes. Responding to a Tweet by Billy Markus, co-founder of Dogecoin (who is no longer on the project), who asked why Dogecoin can’t be both a joke but also useful, Musk earlier today wrote: “The most entertaining outcome is the most likely.”This comes days after Tesla announced it would begin accepting Doge as payment for some of its merchandise in its online shop. Also, according to u.today, “Recently, several major and small businesses have begun to accept payments in the largest meme cryptocurrency, Dogecoin” including “the large U.S. chain of cinemas AMC, gaming behemoth Nexon, Gamestop, [and] the Mark Cuban-owned Dallas Mavericks.”

Video: Elon Musk & Mark Cuban Discuss The Potential Applications Of Dogecoin

Since Elon Musk made this comment (15 hours ago from the time of writing this article), Dogecoin’s price has fallen. So maybe he’s lost his touch? Or maybe its only his individual Tweets that drive speculative investors crazy.

Bitcoin one day price graph in AUD.
This isn’t the first time Musk has made this “entertaining” remark or thrown his support behind Dogecoin. In August last year Musk said Dogecoin is the best cryptocurrency as a medium of exchange – a remarkable claim given the massive price swings it is known for.So why does he say such things? It could just be that he finds playing with the market fun. But still: as Business Insider reports, skeptics struggle to see what figures like Musk and Cuban “see in Dogecoin,” because it’s super volatile and “more complicated to use for purchases than mainstram payment methods.”Neither of the men have provided a solid reason as to why Dogeoin is the best coin to be used as a medium of exchange on the market. Musk has previously talked about the potential to develop it into something more ready to be used as a currency, last year hinting he is in talks with Dogecoin developers to see if Tesla could potentially start accepting Dogecoin as payment (and recently confirming that news, at least in terms of online store merchandise). However, more than anything, it seems Musk’s faith in Dogecoin being able to be used to buy and sell good and services is based on his perception that Dogecoin is the coin with the most love for it, and arguably with the largest community ‘feel’. Or more accurately, just, in his view “the most entertaining outcome” because it would be the most absurd, or the biggest f*ck you. That said, that popularity could (and perhaps to a degree already) gives Dogecoin’s developers the power and resources they need to develop it. So maybe we shouldn’t be too quick to sneer. There could be a skerrick of truth in there somewhere. Who knows: when everyone is driving around in ‘lambos’ and spelling when ‘wen’, maybe we’ll be eating our words…Musk has also previously said Dogecoin is significantly quicker at processing transactions and uses less energy than Bitcoin. That’s not hard though, given how slow Bitcoin is. It’s also not a huge claim to fame as there a bunch of other coins which were made specifically to fill this niche (rather than being made as a parody of Bitcoin). So: does being a joke (originally) mean Dogecoin can’t be engineered into something useful? Only time will tell. What’s for sure though is that it does appear to have a barking mad fan base who would be keen to see it happen (but then, so do most of the new breeds of Ethereum killers like Cardano, Solana, Nano and Terra).

Not to mention: some people believe Bitcoin has been engineered to be far better than Dogecoin could ever catch up to (despite its slow transaction times). As one Twitter user recently wrote: “The problem with that way of thinking is that it omits the tens of thousands of hours of human ingenuity that has flown into optimizing and improving bitcoin since the ‘joke’ started. That makes a difference that cannot be replaced with just being the ‘most entertaining outcome.'”Who will end up top dog is anyone’s guess. It certainly isn’t me though, as my $1,000 crypto experiment still has me licking my wounds…Read Next

Luxury Car Brands Are Recording Record Sales… Despite Australia’s Car Shortage
Luxury Car Brands Are Recording Record Sales… Despite Australia’s Car Shortage

The only thing harder to find than a COVID rapid antigen test in Australia right now is a new car.In short, demand is up and supply is down. The last twelve months have seen Aussies ditch public transport in favour of private vehicle ownership in order to avoid The Spicy Cough, and the global computer chip shortage – itself a result of the pandemic – has meant fewer new cars have been arrivng on our shores.Waitlists at dealers and ongoing supply chain issues mean that there’s big delays when it comes to the delivery of new cars, too. That’s before we even start factoring in the economic devastation that COVID has wrought on Australia and the globe…Yet despite these odds, luxury car brands are reporting record sales figures – both at home and abroad. Brands including Lamborghini, Porsche, Rolls-Royce and Tesla have all recorded record sales years for 2021, with Tesla in particular reporting they sold twice the amount of cars globally in 2021 than they did in 2020. What gives?

Tesla’s customer collection facility in Hendra, Brisbane. Image: EV Central
There’s a few factors at play here. The first thing to consider is that luxury car brands are better positioned to deal with the computer chip shortage. The profit margins on economy cars are razor-thin, but the margins on luxury cars are far more generous – meaning that luxury brands can afford to absorb the higher cost of computer chips at the moment without signifcantly changing their MSRPs.Tesla in particular has largely been shielded from the computer chip shortage thanks to its vertically integrated supply chain. It’s a business model that more and more car brands are starting to emulate, as well as a model that’s employed by tech companies like Apple and Sony, who have aspirations about joining the car game.RELATED: What The Apple Car Design Will Look Like, According To A Patent SpyThe second major factor is that Australian consumers, like consumers around the globe, have been spending the money they would have otherwise spent on travel on other luxuries – like new cars – during COVID. If you can’t go to Aspen, you may as well drive an Aston, you see?Check out the new LC300 Toyota Land Cruiser (one of the hardest to acquire new cars in Australia right now) and its impressive off-road abilities below.

RELATED: Toyota Land Cruiser ‘Blood Pact’ Shows How Crazy Australia’s Car Market Has BecomeWhile not every car manufacturer has released their 2021 sales figures, we’d be very surprised if we didn’t see other luxury car brands come out and say they’ve had similarly great 2021s. Hell, we wouldn’t be surprised if some of the more mass-market brands also had great 2021s.All we hope is that this new car shortage ends soon…Read Next

Who Is Moon Knight? Everything You Need To Know About Marvel’s Next Hero
Who Is Moon Knight? Everything You Need To Know About Marvel’s Next Hero

The ever-expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) now has another series you’re bound to fall in love with called Moon Knight – and good news: the show is now available to stream in Australia.

While the MCU expanded beyond films and into television series last year with the hugely successful, WandaVision — as well as The Falcon & The Winter Soldier, Loki, What If, and HawkeyeMoon Knight is the first MCU TV series that follows a titular character who has not already debuted in a previous film or series. This naturally begs the question: who is Moon Knight?

Who is Moon Knight?

Moon Knight, or Marc Spector, first appeared in the Marvel comics in 1975. Moon Knight is commonly described as Marvel’s version of Batman, one of DC’s most famous comic book heroes, as both characters are essentially vigilantes who fight crime.

In Moon Knight’s origin story, Spector is a former Marine and CIA agent who then becomes a mercenary. During a job in Sudan, Spector is attacked and badly wounded, so he’s taken to a recently unearthed tomb for shelter and is placed in front of an Egyptian statue that depicts the moon god, Khonshu.

In front of this statue, Spector seemingly dies but then miraculously wakes up, fully healed, and remembers a spiritual encounter with Khonshu who offers to save Spector’s life if he agrees to protect and avenge the innocent by becoming the ‘moon’s knight’. From here, Spector returns to the US and begins to fight crime under the alias, ‘Moon Knight’.

Spector, or Moon Knight, has only one special or supernatural ability, which is ‘mystical insight’, so he also uses his intelligence, combat skills, and technology (gained from his previous job’s training) to be a superhero. Spector also uses four other identities or ‘personas’ to gain information from different social circles, and in later comics, it’s revealed that Spector suffers from dissociative identity disorder (and has since childhood), which is why these four other personas are so multi-faceted.

Not to mention, in the comics, some stories present Khonshu as an undeniably real god who did save Spector from death, while in other stories, it’s implied that Khonshu and the whole reasoning behind becoming the Moon Knight, is all in Spector’s head and is a part of his mental illness.

In terms of the MCU, the official synopsis for Moon Knight is:

“A former U.S. marine, struggling with dissociative identity disorder, is granted the powers of an Egyptian moon god. But he soon finds out that these newfound powers can be both a blessing and a curse to his troubled life.”

Daniel Craig’s Drunk Business Deal Led To Unexpected Outcome For Skyfall Director
Daniel Craig’s Drunk Business Deal Led To Unexpected Outcome For Skyfall Director

Imagine you’re at Hugh Jackman’s Christmas party – which is already a certified ‘pinch me’ moment – and then James Bond himself, Daniel Craig, drunkenly asks you to direct the next Bond film. Sounds too good to be true, doesn’t it?

Well, for Sam Mendes, it was reality. That’s according to the latest episode of The Hollywood Reporter’s podcast, Awards Chatter, anyway, where Craig revealed that a few years ago he offered Mendes a directing job, that of the next James Bond film, after having one too many drinks.

“I was definitely a little drunk… and I just basically went, ‘I’m probably not supposed to say this, but do you want to direct the next Bond movie?’”

Daniel Craig

Of course, Mendes, who won a ‘Best Director’ Academy Award in 2000 for American Beauty, jumped at the chance to direct a 007 flick. But it was then that Craig realised he – like many of us have – may have made a drunken mistake. After Mendes accepted the offer, Craig recalled saying:

“I’m in the shit now!”

Daniel Craig

Craig and Mendes previously worked together on the film, Road To Perdition, as an actor and director respectively, before this encounter at Jackman’s party which would have roughly taken place in 2008. While sitting and having a drink together at the party, it dawned on Craig that Mendes’ directing style, which he had first-hand experience of, would be perfect for James Bond’s next movie: Skyfall.

“It just became glaringly obvious to me, sitting opposite him.”

Daniel Craig

Luckily, the studio, MGM, and producers, Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, agreed with Craig’s inebriated decision and officially offered Mendes the directing gig.

Perhaps, Craig should trust his drunken instincts more often, as Skyfall received glowing reviews upon its release and is still considered one of the best Bond films of all time. The film has a 7.8 IMDb rating and a Rotten Tomatoes score of 92%, with The Times UK calling it “007’s best” and highly praising Mendes for his excellent direction.

“Sam Mendes, the director, deftly balances 007 tradition with sophisticated film-making.”

Kate Muir for The Times UK

Who knows what brilliant film idea an intoxicated Craig may come up with next? We can only hope it happens soon.

Why You Should Always Try To Board Your Flight First
Why You Should Always Try To Board Your Flight First

No one likes lining up for a long time at the boarding gate. But equally no one (unless they love traipsing empty airports) likes getting bumped from a flight. But did you know that waltzing up at the last minute and catching the tail end of the boarding queue, though satisfying, is actually risky, and not just because when airlines pick someone to boot from a flight, they typically go for the last people to turn up?

That’s right: according to an interesting Quora thread posted by a frequent traveller in 2018, you actually want to be the first to board for another reason. Among other pieces of advice, the traveller, Ashwin S Krishnan wrote: “If you are flying economy/coach and have cabin luggage – gauge how crowded the flight is going to be.”

“If you expect a full flight, try to board earlier – this will improve your chances to get cabin space for your luggage over your designated seat. Having to place your cabin luggage behind your seat or checking it in leads to a significant time loss.”

This resonated with various Quora commenters (and news outlets) with The Sun and Travel + Leisure both picking up the thread and running with it. As Travel + Leisure points out, reducing your chances of being booted from a flight is another reason to want to board first. Though in some cases now this may be a moot point, given many airlines now call you up by the section of the airline you’re in, for those that don’t, it’s worth considering the following point from this other Quora thread they dug up.

“While overhead storage is the obvious reason, everyone is stating, here’s a reason I don’t think many people realize as to why you should want to board as early as possible,” Quora user Timothy Chiu wrote.

“Some airlines when they need to remove people from a plane, start with the last person who boarded the plane. They may need to remove people due to weight restrictions (due to wind, heat, etc.).”

He then shared a tale about this impacting him. He wrote: “Here’s my story about how I got pulled off a plane because I waited to board, even though I had status and was traveling to a connecting international destination.”

“About 7 or 8 years ago I was taking US Airways from SFO to AMS (Amsterdam) for work with a layover in PHL (Philadelphia). Normally I’m the type of traveler that likes to get to the airport early and check-in early and relax until the flight is ready to leave. For some reason that day I was running late, not late for the flight, but late by my standards. Since I was traveling for work, I had to check in a rather heavy bag with a lot of training materials and work related items.”

He added: “And actually for a check-in process everything went rather smoothly. But I missed the frequent flyer early boarding on the SFO to PHL flight, so I boarded late (by my standards) with the rest of the economy crowd.”

“Surprisingly the flight was really, really empty. It turned out there couldn’t have been more than 40 people on the entire flight, a large wide-body jet. I settled in for a long flight with a longer flight after. The flight fully boarded, but it was taking a while for the plane to leave the jetway. Finally the gate agent came on the intercom and asked for volunteers to deplane.”

To cut a long story short, because he was one of the last to board, he was one of the passengers eventually chosen to be removed from the flight, concluding: “Since that event, I double check and make sure I board the flight at the earliest possible moment, using my frequent flyer status.”

Not everyone agrees, however. TikTok is full of users talking about why it’s always better to board last, and ESCAPE writer Simone Mitchell has another reason of her own to try and sneak onto the very end of the boarding queue in the final moments.

Video: TikTok users explain why they think it’s better to board last

In a 2021 article she wrote: “After a period living between two cities, I racked up a mind-boggling number of domestic flights on budget carriers (who are, let’s face it, the only ones who actually seem to police the weight of your bag at the gate). And I discovered a trick that seems to work.”

“I loiter around at a nearby gate. Then when I see the last passenger in the queue boarding, and it’s close to the gate closing, I leg it to the gate. By that stage the staff just want to get you on the plane for an on-time departure, and the chances of them weighing your bag are much, much slimmer. In fact, this method has worked for me every time and I haven’t been weighed in years.”

Of course, the big disadvantage to this is that there may not be room in the overhead lockers by the time you board. But you can’t have everything, we suppose.
