A knitted balaclava. Now that’s two words you don’t normally see in the same sentence let alone the current menswear scene.Nonetheless, Mr. Fashionkilla himself A$AP Rocky stepped out for New York fashion week overnight rocking one. The American rapper who is known for his fashion-forward style showed up to Calvin Klein’s SS19 fashion show in a coat, white turtle neck and trousers all by the American label. It was his arrival outside CK HQ that really captured attention though. Helping Rocky brave the cold was a knitted balaclava with baby, pink blue and yellow accents. Yes, those colours are correct. The question is, would you rock it?

Qatar Airways Have Found A Way To Guilt You Into Working At 40,000ft

For business travellers, the ability to get some quality shut eye is second only to getting work completed. And if you (or your team) are about to walk straight out of the airport and into an important meeting with a clear mind, you’re going to want both.

With Qsuite, Qatar Airways’ new revolutionary Business Class offering, business travellers can now make the most of their time in the sky thanks to the shiny new conference rooms available in each suite, at 40,000 feet. Although some might take this as an unwelcome hint to take their eye-masks off and put their productivity hats on, the suite comes with state of art relaxation facilities too.

The recently launched, award-winning Qsuite is the first ever Business Class suite available on Australian flight paths, featuring lie-flat double beds, moveable partitions, privacy doors and plenty of workspace.

The cutting-edge quad configuration with moveable walls and slidable panels allows travellers to turn their suite into an office-style space for meetings with up to four colleagues (five, if you don’t mind getting cosy).

Highlights include:

  • Quad configuration: adjustable monitors and panels allow business travellers to create their own office in the sky
  • Double bed: lie flat double beds with premium sleepwear ensures you are well rested before the important work meeting
  • Work space: abundant table space in the suits allow for plenty of room to work or share a meal with your colleagues
  • A-la-carte menu: restaurant-style quality meal from a specially designed menu will have you reimagining what airline food can be

And who knows, there may be more to come: “As we continue to grow in Australia, we are glad to also be contributing to the market by providing greater consumer choice,” Qatar Airways GCEO, Mr. Akbar Al Baker said in a press release.

“Since its launch, Qsuite has received tremendous attention globally, and we are delighted to introduce this revolutionary product on our Canberra and Sydney routes.”

For those itching to get their mitts on the coolest workspace since Hemingway’s Finca Vigia, The Qsuite is available on flights to and from Canberra via Sydney to Doha, then onwards to over 150 destinations.

Apple Watch 4 Can Save Your Life, But Here's How To Know If It's Worth Your $600

It’s time to bid farewell to your week’s pay check once again with the arrival of Apple day.

Overnight the Cupertino tech giant unveiled an awesome new watch and iPhone models with scary price tags to match. Let’s not bore you with the marketing spiel though.

We’re hitting you with the features you need to know about so that you can determine if the Apple Watch Series 4 is worth your coin. The iPhone we’ll chat about separately for your ease of perusal.

Price & Availability

Let’s get straight into what you want first. The Apple Watch Series 4 will retail in Australia from a starting price of $599 whilst the 4G version will cost $749. That’s an increase from the Series 3 model which starts from $399.

Both models will be available in Australis from Friday the 21st of September 2018.

What You Get For A Bigger Price Tag

Apple claims that they’ve re-jigged the watch from the ground up to help wearers:

  • Stay more connected

Design Upgrades

The Apple Watch Series 4 will come in two sizes to suit big and smaller wrist sizes – 40mm and 44mm.

Beyond those options, the watch will offer:

  • A case back made from black ceramic and sapphire crystal which won’t doesn’t block incoming/outgoing signals
  • A digital crown which feels more mechanical like a traditional watch

Fitness Features

The watch essentially offers fancy new ways to track calories burnt and your exercise minutes. Nothing too ground breaking but nonetheless:

  • Automatic workout detection provides an alert to start a workout while giving retroactive credit
  • Yoga and Hiking are new dedicated workout types that accurately track active calories burned and exercise minutes earned

Health Features

A highlight Apple are spruiking on the new watchOS 5 software is its health capabilities. These include:

  • An electrical heart rate sensor that can take an electrocardiogram (ECG) using an FDA approved ECG app
  • What the hell is an ECG? Basically a diagnostic tool used to check the electrical and muscular functions of your heart to determine if it’s healthy
  • The watch displays your heart rhythm classification as either normal or whether there are signs of Atrial Fibrillation (AFib), a heart condition that could lead to major health complications
  • Your heart rhythm classifications and any noted symptoms are stored in the Health app in a PDF should you need to share it with physicians
  • Apple Watch 4 can also alert the user if the heart rate exceeds or falls below a specified threshold
  • A new tech in the watch offers a fall detection function which is suitable for older wearers
  • Apple Watch sends the user an alert after a fall, which can be dismissed or used to initiate a call to emergency services

The Dark Web Is Suffering A Hilarious Credibility Crisis & Hipsters Are To Blame
The Dark Web Is Suffering A Hilarious Credibility Crisis & Hipsters Are To Blame

Emo fringes. Cargo pants. Baggy jeans. MSN. MySpace. Facebook. What do these things all have in common? They used to be cool.Rusty antiques. Beards. Classic literature. The dark web. Instagram. Cocaine. What do these things all have in common? They were ruined by hipsters.Once a place where you could buy plutonium and sell your spleen in peace (pieces?), the dark web is now suffering a street-credibility crisis, after certain forums have been gentrified faster than an inner-Sydney burb. The dark web is basically an encrypted, underground version of Google that allows people to interact anonymously, leaving no digital trace of their actions. Notorious for some seriously messed up criminal activity (for those interested in this, see Eileen Ormsby’s expose, “The Darkest Web”), a Vice investigation has found there is a portion of the dark web devoted to discussing “craft cocaine” with Reddit-style earnestness and enthusiasm. The difference is that, unlike Reddit, dark web communities know their words can’t be traced to their computer, leaving them free to discuss illegal activities as if they were talking about the weather. Although one might expect this to turn conversations sour or dangerous, it has actually led to previously “cool,” if creepy, morally bereft and illegal, conversations, to look like your mum’s Thursday night yoga group-chat.According to this year’s Global Drug Survey, 17% of Australian drug users, 18% of American drug users and 24% of English drug users buy their gear on the dark net, and the percentage is climbing. This has led to a supposedly “health conscious” (read: pretentious) community of drug-takers who agonise over the quality of their cocaine as if it were a fine wine or particularly expensive IPA beer.

“They’re the coke connoisseurs… an ever-expanding gaggle of (mostly) men who take great pride in knowing more about blow than you,” (Vice).

Although users claim forums like this help keep drug users safe, experts have pointed out that it no matter how highly rated an anonymous dealer is—they are still anonymous. So (obviously) the only way to guarantee safety is to avoid them altogether. And reading through the comments, the users seem more out to impress each other, and boast about their experiences than they are chatting about safety. Here’s a sample of comments, to give you an idea:

  • I feel it’s a top shelf. It feels cool and elegant to me and goes down a treat. Really enjoying it.
  • It has no obvious smell, which I often find a plus and tasting a little dab on my finger I found it quite earthy.
  • Oddly enough I think someone else mentioned a slight saltiness and I’d have to concur.
  • I’m sure you guys know girls love coke right? Well I managed to (score… thanks to) so and so’s gear… hahaha.

Two other phrases often used describe dark-webbers’ coke’s smell were “petrol” and “organic”. According to the undercover Vice investigator, “Petrol means that it hasn’t been cleaned of the chemicals used in the manufacturing process, indicating an inferior product from a sloppy producer, while ‘organic’ means grade-A rocket fuel.”But the question remains: is this just “cocaine-sommelier dickheadery” or does their knowledge sharing keep them safe? If neuropharmapsychologist and former government drugs adviser David Nutt’s words are anything to go by: no, sourcing higher quality drugs does not necessarily make you safer.Although their forum enables them to share tips on spotting low quality cocaine, which enables them to consume less contaminants and cutting agents (like baby laxative or levamisole, a worming agent used on farm animals), which have their own set of health concerns, the other negative effects of cocaine usage, like, “Feeling anxious or impulsive, or finding the urgent rush of energy and raised heart-beat alarming,” (Vice), are actually more intense the purer the cocaine is.

“Cocaine is a vasoconstrictor, and the majority of coke-related hospital admissions are cardiac issues,” Nutt told Vice. “As purity increases, so does your risk of heart damage and overdose. The increased risk would likely be related to acute heart damage or overdose, rather than dependency, which is a chronic consideration, versus high purity on any given night.”

What To Drink When You Don't Like Drinking But Still Want To Fit In
What To Drink When You Don't Like Drinking But Still Want To Fit In

Well it had to be done. For the seasoned purveyors of a casual beer, wine or whisky, it would be unfathomable to comprehend that there are some people out there who actually don’t like drinking as much as the social aspect of it.

Come child. We’re your shoulder to cry on. Just kidding. Get your own damn shoulder. This is what you should be drinking if you don’t like drinking – whether that be because of its taste, your social insecurities or just because Jesus told you not to.

Helping us out with this hit list of cool and masculine drinks for those who don’t like drinking is Cameron Northway of Sweet&Chilli, a specialist drinks agency based in Sydney. These guys and girls know their booze palate better than you know your way around a bottleshop, so pay attention.

Ryan Gosling Shows You The Coolest Way To Rock A Sweater With A Suit
Ryan Gosling Shows You The Coolest Way To Rock A Sweater With A Suit

The photoshopped guy has done it again. Those who thought Ryan Gosling had retired from the red carpet style awards were proven wrong. The 37-year-old actor turned up to the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival overnight in a plaid suit paired with a knitted v-neck sweater.

The colours also matched perfectly with the red, white and blue check pattern on the suit providing a great contrast to the tri-colour motif and piping on the knitted sweater. It’s a bit of French, a touch of British and a whole lot of cool for a pared down look. Gosling also paired the suit with polished black lace-ups.

Eagle-eyed watch fans would have noticed a slight oversight though. Given that Gosling was at the press conference for his latest film First Man where he plays Neil Armstrong, he wasn’t wearing an OMEGA – the first watch on the moon.

Instead Gosling opted for his own Rolex Air King on a yellowed 3-6-9 dial – a classic piece for a semi-classic look.

How To Tell If Your Gym Workouts Are Actually Getting You Gains
How To Tell If Your Gym Workouts Are Actually Getting You Gains

Every committed gym junkie and fitness fanatic faces a conundrum. Beginners know they worked hard because they feel it in their aching muscles, but the fitter you get, the harder it is to tell what’s hard. Your muscles adapt, and the soreness you used to feel just isn’t the same anymore.

It’s a good thing overall, but it can also be disheartening when you arrive at this question:

If you’re not in pain post-gym, did you actually achieve anything?

The signs your workouts are effective aren’t what you think. It’s not about how much you hurt or how much you sweat or how eager you are to raid the fridge for a protein-packed snack. Instead, experts recommend looking for other clues that you’re getting harder, better, faster, stronger. Check out a quick list of them below.

Your Numbers Are Improving

It’s obvious, but it’s also the easiest starting point: if your numbers are improving, your fitness is improving. When you can lift heavier, run longer, and exercise within your target heart rate zone, you have tangible evidence that the sweat you’ve shed in the gym is paying off. It doesn’t mean the workouts will get easier – at least not if you’re doing them right – but seeing concrete proof of your progress is a powerful motivator.

Your Recovery Times Are Quicker

You experience two kinds of recovery when you exercise. One happens over an extended period, in between workouts. The other happens mid-workout, in the brief moments of relief between sets. When your training is effective, both kinds of recovery should be shorter and leave you feeling energised. Feeling tired all the time is an indication that you may be working too hard for your current fitness level. Ease off and build back up slowly.

You’re Engaged

How bored are you at the gym? Are you the guy trying to read a novel on the stationary bikes or watching Real Housewives reruns on the treadmill? Do you dread workouts so much that you avoid them altogether? If your training regime is working, you won’t be tempted to blow it off or find ways to distract yourself. Your workouts will have your full attention.

You Feel (Literally) Pumped

Muscle soreness can mean you just had a great training sesh, but it isn’t a consistently reliable measurement of effort. Look for muscle swelling instead.

Excess blood is pushed to your muscles after a strenuous workout to bring in oxygen and essential nutrients, causing the muscles to temporarily expand. This is the “fullness” or “pumped up” sensation you may have noticed immediately after exercising.

You’re Sleeping Well

Physical exertion and sleep go hand-in-hand. Scientific research, like this study from 2005, has proved that people snooze better and feel more alert during the day if they get a sufficient amount of exercise.

The hormones released during training help modulate sleep, giving you get a sounder, undisrupted slumber. A good night’s sleep can, in turn, enhance your other health goals by curbing weight gain and boosting your immune system.

You Can Now Buy Jensen Button's Custom McLaren P1 For $3,000,000
You Can Now Buy Jensen Button's Custom McLaren P1 For $3,000,000

It’s not often an ex-Formula One world champion puts their car on the market, but when they do you can guarantee it’s something pretty spectacular.

Enter Jensen Button’s custom McLaren P1. The car is currently listed for a cool £1,600,000 (almost AU$3,000,000) on Steve Hurn Cars which outlines some of the unique features of this racer-owned British hypercar.

For a serious amount of coin the potential buyer will be getting a 2015 registered P1 which has been put through McLaren Special Operations (MSO) for a performance upgrade. The car is equipped with the MSO ‘Track Mode 2’ option which is a bespoke software upgrade that unlocks ‘Race Mode’ in the road legal car – £20,000 option alone.

On the aesthetic front the car wears MSO’s Grauschwartz Grey paint with Stealth Pack and an MSO grey/black alcantara interior.

The rest of the car is pretty standard hypercar spec with carbon fibre everything, forged wheels, carbon ceramic brakes and a vehicle tracking system for peace of mind.

And if you’re not aware of the car’s performance then shame on you. The 3.8-litre twin-turbo hybrid V8 musters out 735kW and 719Nm of torque to deliver the 0-100km/h sprint in just 2.8 seconds before topping out at 350km/h.

And now for the really good news. The car only has clocked 886km on the dial since Button’s ownership – a major reason why the retired F1 driver has decided to part ways with it.

“So I’ve decided to put my Mclaren P1 up for sale so that someone else can enjoy her,” he said on his Instagram.

“It’s a tough decision but living in America I don’t really get the chance to drive this beauty, I did give her a final blast up to Silverstone for WEC last month though!”

So, who wants to mortgage their house?

Bremont Joins The Dark Side With A Watch Made For Tom Hardy's Supervillain
Bremont Joins The Dark Side With A Watch Made For Tom Hardy's Supervillain

Let’s get this straight. I’ve been a Spider Man fan since the mid-90s so there’s a lot riding on this new standalone film which sees Tom Hardy playing the symbiote supervillain known as Venom. For the uninitiated, Venom is the arch-nemesis of Spider Man – and this movie will oddly feature no Spider Man (his film rights currently belong to Marvel-Disney). Venom’s alien suit itself is a manifestation of Spider Man’s suit and special powers, so not having Spider Man in this origin story already raises a few concerns with this geek…but I digress. What is cool is Bremont‘s unlikely partnership with the gritty new film which sees Venom and his alter-ego Eddie Brock (played by Hardy) rocking a new U2/51-JET timepiece shod in sinister matte black. If the movie’s dark tone is anything to go by, they’ve certainly got the hue right. The watch itself will feature design elements lifted from the British watchmaker’s military work commissioned by the RAF’s 100 squadron members to complement their Hawk T1 jet aircraft. The deadly 100 Squadron was the first squadron formed to carry out night bombing duties back in 1917. The stealthy appearance of this squadron lends itself perfectly to the U2/51-JET which sees a smoked-glass case back revealing the intricate automatic movement.A 43mm black anodised case pairs nicely with the twin knurled bezels as well as the contrasting blued hands and jet black strap for a sleek industrial aesthetic. Now we just hope the movie will be as good as the watch.
