Looks like your Kris Kringle has big shoes to fill…like, million dollar shoes. Sylvester Stallone just got gifted one of Richard Mille’s latest creations in the form of a US$983,000 watch.
Labelled the RM 25-01 Tourbillon Adventure, the insanely expensive timepiece is a limited edition release with just 20 examples being made available worldwide. The Swiss luxury watchmaker created the RM 25-01 as a tribute to Stallone’s enduring career as Hollywood’s go-to tough guy.
For obvious reasons the watch is totally unapologetic about its brutish design which successfully merges Stallone’s on-screen personas with a touch of Rambo camo alongside his personal pursuits beyond Hollywood.
On the technical front the watch features a lightweight tourbillon movement with titanium components for precise timekeeping without sacrificing wearability. There’s also an interchangeable Carbon TPT bezel which allows Stallone to change the appearance of the watch as he desires depending on his location.
One bezel variant is a bidirectional daytime bezel with 24-hour scale whilst the second features cardinal compass points, the latter of which comes equipped with a Grade 5 titanium lid with a mirrored internal face for easier compass legibility.
But the real kicker? The watch features five water purification capsules concealed in a Carbon TPT compartment for emergencies. Each capsule will create a litre of safe drinking water within a time frame of 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on the fluid’s pollutants.
A natural rubber strap in obligatory camouflage is included with the piece.
Not a bad explorer’s watch that took four years to create. Now to find that one million dollar stash we misplaced…

He’s no stranger to our silver screens but in recent times Jeff Goldblum has been answering to a higher order – the coolest dad on Earth with an immaculate wardrobe to boot.
The ageless 65-year-old (for reference, Arnold Schwarzenegger is 71 and looks the part) veteran actor of Jurassic Park and Independence Day was recently spotted at LAX in one of his signature monochrome outfits. Leather jacket, felt hat, polo shirt with contrast white piping, black denim and loafers that would make the the 1950s proud. And let’s not forget the iconic black framed specs le Goldblum is renowned for.
What we’re trying to say is this is how the world’s coolest dad dresses. Need more proof? How about that Cartier Tank wrapped around his wrist. Or the masculine jewellery which adds a serious dose of attitude without dropping masculinity points. All this is achieved with nothing but black with a hint of white. And contrasting textures of course.
Heck, Goldblum even seems to be getting into the streetwear game now with this latest post announcing his support for Los Angeles label Virgil Normal. Hype dad, is that you?
And just when you thought this actor at the peak of his game at sixty-five could do no more…they erect a giant statue of him in London to immortalise his most famous topless scene.
And you thought Pierce Brosnan was the way you wished your dad would dress.

Keep your friends close and enemies closer: this saying is more relevant than ever in the latest saga of Australia’s “bin chicken” epidemic. For years an organisation that most Sydneysiders considered a friend of the city, looking after injured animals, providing a boost to the economy—even becoming a symbol of Australian pride, has actually been undermining the health and sanity of urban lunch-eaters all this time. The ABC yesterday alleged that Taronga Zoo could actually be responsible for the (formerly) wetland-dwelling White Ibis’ migration to city centres everywhere. How so? In the early 1970s, “Taronga Zoo launched an experimental breeding program encouraging the Australian white ibis to roost in the grounds on Sydney Harbour” (ABC).
“In 1973, just 19 ibis from Healesville in Victoria were held at the zoo and were encouraged to breed as free-ranging birds.”
But now what used to be known as one of “the most graceful and decorative of Australian birds,” is now a “tip turkey” or “dumpster diver” or ‘bin chicken’ that we all love to hate. Suffice to say: the Ibis has gone through a major perception change.Dr Richard Major, principal research scientist at the Australian Museum, told the ABC that although it, “Would be unfair to point the finger directly at Taronga Zoo,” it is, “Reasonable to suspect its program helped the wetland dweller adapt to life in a city.”
“The birds had visited Sydney in the past, and there are records of birds in the 1970s visiting Sydney, [but] there are no breeding records in Sydney until the 1980s,” he said.
According to him, this also makes it, “Reasonable to suspect that was a nucleation point in Sydney that encouraged birds to stay and work out how to capitalise on an urban landscape.”However, he also said that the bin chicken population change was also down to drought and environmental degradation of its original habitat.
“In the 1980s it was quite common for 15,000 ibis to be nesting in colonies in a flooded wetland in the Murray-Darling basin, and we’re not seeing those numbers in the Murray-Darling anymore,” he told the ABC.
This means the coast became a drought refuge for them when they weren’t getting the freshwater wetland support … and then discovered that chicken sandwitches and meatball subs taste better than worms.Also.
“Cities have quite predictable freshwater water and have got good feeding sites.”
He also said that bin chickens are less abundant than their aggressive antics and city flocks would make them seem; “We’ve probably seen a decline in the overall ibis population but we think they’re much more abundant” (ABC).RELATED: The Most Hilarious Reviews Of Paris’ Worst Hotels

The hard truth you’ve known all along has finally been proven…by science. In a recent U.S study researchers from the Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health found that men who wore boxer shorts had a 25 percent higher sperm count than those in tighter fitting underwear. In other words, go commando and you’ll never shoot blanks again. The scientific explanation published in the journal Human Reproduction is of course a bit more complicated than that. It relates back to keeping the hormones that affect the sperm count happy. The study which accounted for 656 men found that cooler temperatures around the testicles boosted sperm production. This is due to the fact that sperm production is most sensitive to temperatures above 34 degrees Celsius (92F). This phenomenon can be seen on warmer days when your testicles hang lower from the body when compared to cooler days when they contract closer to the body.In the realm of underwear, briefs and jockey shorts hold the scrotum closer to the body which causes the testicles to warm up. Boxer shorts meanwhile accommodate a looser and ‘airier’ fit that’s more conducive to sperm production. So in other words, cheap underwear has nothing to do with it.The figures from the research reveal a 17 percent increase in total sperm count alongside 33 percent more swimming sperm when comparing boxers to tighter-fitting underwear. Thankfully this finding doesn’t affect sperm shape or DNA quality – it’s simply a numbers game.“Since men can modify the type of underwear they choose to wear, these results may be useful to improve men’s testicular function,” says the study’s lead researcher, Dr Lidia Minguez-Alarcon.RELATED: What Your Choice In Underwear Actually Says About YouThe surprising results were derived against factors that affect sperm production including a man’s age, body mass index (BMI) and personal habits such as smoking and…we kid you not…hot tub usage.Be warned though, changing your underwear today won’t warrant a higher sperm count the next day.The research paper’s author Dr Jorge Chaverro told the BBC that “it takes about three months for an entire population of sperm to change, so plan in advance.”Well there you have it. Who said free-balling on the daily was a nuisance to society?

You trudge out of the club, seven beers heavier (and a few pounds of shame lighter) after your inner Casanova so spectacularly failed to show up. “Whatever,” you figure, “I may have struck out—but at least I can get a kebab or and a slice of pizza on my way home.” Sure, you’ve had dinner already, but this 2 for 1 Meatlovers special is just too good to resist.
Then, after consuming more grease in one sitting than you would normally in an entire week, you go to sleep with a fast-food baby in your belly, and wake up wondering: why the hell did I do that? Everyone knows alcohol reduces inhibitions, so you know why you acted on your drunken craving—but why did you get it in the first place?
If this train of thought sounds familiar, don’t worry, there’s now an explanation: after seeing an ad in a campus newspaper promoting unhealthy late-night foods, researchers from the University of Buffalo decided to investigate whether there was a biological excuse for your drunken cravings.
“They’re called the “drunchies,” or drunk munchies. It’s the desire one has to eat salty, fatty, unhealthy foods during or after a night of heavy drinking,” (Science Daily).
“Given the obesity epidemic and the rates of alcohol consumption on college campuses, we need to be aware of not only the negative effect of alcohol consumption, but also the impact it has on what people are eating while they are drinking,” said Jessica Kruger, the lead author of the study.
According to the Californian Journal of Health Promotion, previous research had already found that students’ junk food cravings increase (and that they tend to eat fewer fruits and vegetables) when they drink alcohol. This study explored why that is the case, examining “heavy episodic drinking” and “dietary choices” both while drinking and on the following day.
As reported by Science Daily, “Kruger and her colleagues from the University of Michigan, University of Toledo, and Bowling Green State University, conducted their study on a sample of 286 students at a large public university in the Midwest.”
Study participants filled out an anonymous online survey, which began with general questions around diet like, “What do you typically eat for your first meal of the day?” and “How often do you eat something before you go to bed?” This set a benchmark against which their eating habits when they went out drinking could be compared.
my stages of drunk are:
1. “I’m not even buzzed yet.”
2. *sitting in the wet grass somewhere with my shoes off eating Pizza*— Drunk (@drunk) August 3, 2018
“Later in the survey,” reported Science Daily, “They were asked how often they ate something before bed on nights when they drank alcohol, and what they ate. They were also asked what they typically ate for their first meal the day after a night of binge drinking.”
The result? Researchers found that drinking significantly influenced study participants’ nocturnal eating patterns. “All alcohol drinkers were more likely to eat something before they went to bed after drinking alcohol than in general before they go to bed,” the report concluded.
“Specifically, they were more likely to opt for salty snack foods and pizza. Healthy foods, such as dark green vegetables and other veggies they would ordinarily eat, weren’t as appealing,” (Science Daily).
So what’s happening in the body all this time? Is it really ~physiology~ that makes us order a 2am kebab and then replace our normal breakfast of cereal and milk with tacos? In a word: yes. Or at least, probably; “It is believed that after drinking alcohol, the amount of blood glucose in the body can rise and fall which stimulates the brain to feel hungry,” Kruger explained.
Compounding the problem, researchers also noted, was the fact that participants didn’t report drinking more water or other non-alcoholic beverages before going to sleep, exacerbating dehydration, and leading to even more unhealthy food choices.
Considering the abundance of fast food options around universities and urban night-life zones, as well as America’s growing obesity epidemic, these findings point to the need to encourage healthy eating at all times of the day, including late at night.

We’ve shown you how to get rich in your twenties and thirties and now that those decades are truly behind you, it’s time to clean up your fiscal act for good.
Besides being a professional chauffeur to midget leeches (children) or living it large and in charge as a high flying professional, there are still sound financial measures a man can take to ensure he comes out on top of the money pile during this decade.
“You could find yourself in a position where you owe more money to the bank than what your home is worth.”
If you’re buckling under the pressure of a growing family or having trouble laying down the foundations for a comfortable future, then listen up.
These are the five expert-backed tips you’ll need to weather the volatile economic times ahead. And possibly get filthy rich in the process.
Be Weary Of New & Increasing Expenses
It’s not easy to dole out financial advice to every man in their forties, but assuming the common traits of a growing family and multiple outgoing expenses, there are proven ways to get around this.
Men in this decade will potentially be pulled in a few different directions. The biggest ones are of course school fees, mortgage repayments, and investing for your retirement.
Luke Laretive who is a Senior Private Wealth Advisor for Shaw & Partners explains that men need to have a plan on how to balance these conflicting priorities otherwise they’re selling themselves short for the best chance of financial success.
“If you’re feeling overwhelmed by more complicated financials in your forties, a professional can look at your personal situation and help you to implement a plan.”
“Vital money management tips for this age bracket includes maintaining your emergency fund, continuing to reassess your insurance needs, keeping an eye on expenses (reducing them where possible) and refinancing your mortgage to a better rate.”
A Pension Shouldn’t Be Your Plan A
Most men in their forties talk and look forward to their retirement so much that they forget that a pension is only an assistance model. The Age Pension in Australia is designed to work in conjunction with a superannuation and will provide financial assistance if you don’t have the resources to support yourself.
More specifically it should be considered a safety net, not your plan A.
“The pension is income and asset tested, however the current maximum basic rate for a couple is $1,198.20 per fortnight,” says Laretive.
“If you don’t think this is enough for you to live the quality of life that you want in your retirement, then you need to ensure you are working towards building your wealth.”
Lower Your Risk Level During This Decade
So you’ve made a decent bit of coin from the past few decades toiling the trenches. Nice work, soldier. Now it’s time to invest…but how, how much and how risky?
The general rule of thumb is simple: As your time to retirement decreases, your risk level should also be lowered.
“This will limit the likelihood of an event like the GFC wiping out your retirement savings the year before you were due to retire,” explains Laretive.
“If you’re currently 40, you still have at least 27 years until retirement age so you should still be taking on a moderate amount of risk.”
Those with a standing mortgage may find it difficult to know whether to contribute money to their super or pay down your home loan.
One way to help you through this is by jumping on ASIC’s Money Smart website which is a handy tool that can help show where your money will have the biggest impact.
Using Equity In Your Home
This common practice may seem appealing to many but caution must be taken. Using the equity in your home is a financial strategy that can be great if done properly, or terrible if not.
“If you’re paying off credit card debt or personal loan with really high levels of interests then it could be a good idea to transfer the debt to your mortgage and pay it off with a much lower level of interest,” explains Laretive.
Equity can also be used to pay for important lump sum expenses such as your children’s school fees or for an investment, such as the purchase of an investment property.
“Some people, however, may take the money and buy a bunch of consumer items, like big screen TVs, that make them feel good in the short term but don’t add much value to their life,” says Laretive.
If a man chooses to take this risky route of spending the equity in their home, they also risk facing the unpredictable scenario of property prices falling and you needing to sell up.
“You could find yourself in a position where you owe more money to the bank than what your home is worth.”
Prioritise Health Over Wealth
Health is the most significant factor as a man ages. Growing older brings with it the medical costs which can become one of your biggest expenses. There’s no easy way to stop this except via sound preventative measures, so keep fit, stay healthy and try to look after yourself if you want to secure your future quality of life.
Additionally, it’s recommended that men in their forties should teach their children about money so that they can develop financial skills from an early age.
Establishing good habits around earning, spending and saving money will help them as they get older and become responsible for their own finances.
Special thanks to Luke Laretive who is a Senior Private Wealth Adviser @ Shaw and Partners. This is general advice and you should consider it in light of your personal circumstances.

He’s a bonafide action man in a world which no longer glorifies action heroes. But Jason Statham is more than just a one trick pony. The 51-year-old actor has recently been showing off his style chops on the red carpet with a series of looks which perfectly suits his on-screen persona: Strong and classy restraint with a touch of ‘unhinge’ should you ever piss him off.Luckily for most of us, Statham kept the inner-brawler at bay for his latest appearance at ‘The Meg’ premiere in Hollywood. Statham executed his wardrobe on a conservatively cool tangent thanks to a classic navy suit paired to a white golf collar shirt (rounded edges). The look was polished off with a tonal grey striped tie, black lace-up shoes and a very elegant collar pin.Of course it wouldn’t be Statham without a bit of masculine confidence about the air. Throw in a pair of squared aviator glasses and you have Jason Statham 2.0 – the red carpet edition.RELATED: Jason Statham Shows You How To Rock Sandals To Parties Without Losing Your Masculinity

Forget everything you know about sex: hook up apps are not just a cause of but also a solution to Australia’s rising STD rate.
Basically: STD’s are on the increase. And while, obviously, STD’s were around long before Tinder and Bumble, society’s increasingly liberal approach to sex (studies have shown young people are having less sex—but more ‘casual’ partners—than previous generations) has lead to an uptick in sexually transmitted diseases.
According to the latest health data, “In just a decade, the number of gonorrhoea cases annually has more than doubled… (while) in the past decade, syphilis cases have more than tripled, (and) cases of chlamydia have increased by 43 per cent,” (ABC Health).
This has led to the emergence of dating apps for people with STD’s like Positive Singles and Hope, which have taken the business model of PozMatch and HIVNet (which were founded in the 90’s and catered to singles with HIV/AIDS), and modernised it for our generation’s technological preferences and most prevalent STD’s—Herpes, Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea, HPV and Syphilis.
ATTENTION EVERYONE

Don’t catch that shit.— cesar (@whodatboii_) August 6, 2018
How do they work? Essentially these websites (and apps) aim to provide a dating environment without stigma, that makes it easy to see each user’s STD status and preferences, so that people with an STD can avoid the awkward moment, two (or however many) dates in, where they have to casually drop the “btw I have herpes” line. Everything is honest and upfront, which—in theory—is great.
However the candid nature of these platforms comes at a price. Aside from phishing scams, various legitimate dating apps have been caught sharing their users’ information with third parties which, as you can imagine, didn’t go down well. Also, some claim that these apps don’t get rid of stigma, instead creating “STD hierarchies.”
“Troublingly, the sites seemed less likely to unite people with STIs than to divide them into cliques,” (Motherboard).
One user even went as far as to say that “I just felt like it was used to make people who felt bad about their illness feel better by putting other people down,” (Motherboard).
So although STD dating sites have, “Given their users reason to believe that testing positive doesn’t shut the door on authentic, transparent intimacy (Vice),” potential users should proceed with caution.
