Australia boxer Harry Garside regularly pushes body to its limits in the pursuit of physical perfection and mental clarity… So his latest workout isn’t one you should do on a whim.
Harry is currently in Bali, where he is spending a two-week vacation with his girlfriend, Ash. But as he’s clearly the kind of guy who can never take a day off – coupled with the fact he does need to keep up with his training if he’s going to continue winning fights and medals – he’s consistently finding ways to test his strength.
Taking to his Instagram Stories in recent days, Harry Garside posted a screenshot of one of two workouts he carried out during a day, followed by a quick video telling his followers he completed a brutal 90-minute workout without water.
So, what does the average workout of an Olympic medal-winning boxer look like?

Frightening is the answer.
Harry’s warm-up alone looks as though it would have many people gasping for air, but the main event will seriously separate the men from the boys. When you consider Harry completed this workout without a single drop of water, and factor in the intense Bali heat, it becomes all the more impressive.
WATCH Harry Garside complete a 90-minute workout without water below.
Obviously, drinking water whilst exercising is essential. Fit19 says not drinking water whilst exercising, and bringing on potential dehydration, can “lead to cramping, soreness, fatigue, and even heat stroke, especially if you’re exercising in hot weather.” Clearly, Harry didn’t read this before his trip.
Now, we’re sure Harry does drink plenty of water normally, and it could just be a case of him forgetting to fill his water bottle before jumping on the bike, so he just had to suck it up… But, just in case you take anything Harry does as outright gospel and feel like you want to try working out without watering yourself, the bottom line is, don’t.
As Fit 19 elaborates, “dehydration is the condition in which your body loses more fluid than it takes in. As a result, the water content of your blood and other tissues decreases.”

This isn’t the first time Harry has done something slightly outrageous in the pursuit of fitness. He’s previously taped his mouth shut for a full 24 hours, forcing him to breathe through just his nose. Nasal breathing has been found to have positive effects, as it helps provide a greater amount of oxygen into your bloodstream.
Harry’s also encouraged the use of cold water therapy as being beneficial for his mental health, too. Harry is an incredibly progressive human. He practices ballet, he wears clothes stereotypically designed for women and he’s been known to wear nail varnish.
Whether you’re into it or not, there’s no denying the man tries anything and everything in the search of internal happiness. Let’s just hope he doesn’t try an intense workout without water again though, hey?

The National Basketball Association (NBA), North America’s premier basketball league is back on our TVs once again for the 2022-23 NBA season.
Nothing can excite sports nuts more than a LeBron James slam dunk reverberating through the court or a Stephen Curry three-point winner that sends the arena into a frenzy.
This year, the Golden State Warriors look to defend their title, but standing in their way is a roster filled to the brim with the best basketball players in the world – including some Australians – who are desperate to etch their name in history books and win that coveted NBA Championship ring.
For Australian basketball fans, there are multiple ways in which you can tune in to watch the NBA (even if it means getting up at 6am to watch your favourite team!)
Read on to find out how watch the 2022-23 NBA regular season and 2023 NBA finals in Australia.
How to Watch the NBA in Australia?
There are multiple streaming services which are broadcasting NBA games, namely Kayo Sports, Foxtel, and NBA League Pass.
Kayo Sports

Kayo Sports streams the NBA through ESPN and shows an average of nine regular season NBA games a week. This is two games a week more than what was available last season.
Most importantly, the subscription also grants you access to the NBA Finals, as well as other NBA events such as the NBA Draft, All-Star Weekend and Christmas Day games. Fan-favourite television shows such as Inside the NBA and NBA Today are also available on the platform.
If that isn’t enough for basketball fans, Kayo covers every men’s and women’s games in Australia’s premier basketball association the National Basketball League (NBL); The Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA); the biggest games on the NCAA American college basketball calendar; and Australian international games. That’s a lot of basketball.
If this sounds like the package for you, there are multiple subscription options. For AU $25 a month, games can only be watched on a single screen at any one time. More premium subscriptions are available for AU $27.50 a month, which allows you to watch on two screens simultaneously, or AU $35 a month for three.
Games can also be watched live or on replay across televisions, laptops, consoles and tablets.
In addition to that, there is also over 50 other sports available to watch live or on demand on Kayo Sports. A free 7-day trial is available for new customers.
Foxtel

Foxtel provides much of the same coverage as Kayo, except at a higher rate.
It also streams through ESPN, showing an average of seven live regular season games a week, as well as the NBA finals. Much like with Kayo, the NBL, NCAA college championships and WNBA are all available on the platform, as well as popular basketball talk shows.
You can also watch these live or on demand on the Foxtel GO app, which is free with a Foxtel subscription.
However, in order to access the channels, you will need to be subscribed to the ‘HD sports package’ deal, on top of the base ‘Foxtel plus pack’ – both of these together cost AU $74 a month. This is AU $49 more than the cheapest Kayo package.
Another option with Foxtel is to get NBA streams using Foxtel Now, Foxtel’s streaming website. However, you will also need to buy the ‘sports pack’ at AU $29 month on top of the ‘essentials pack’ which already costs AU $25.
This brings your total costs up to AU $54 a month, which is over double the price of the cheapest Kayo sports deal.
Other sports such as AFL, NRL and NFL are also available with the sports packages, which provides some reprieve. There is a free 10-day trial for Foxtel Now is available for new customers.
NBA League Pass

Another viable option, League Pass is the NBA’s own streaming service for games. For sports fans exclusively into basketball, choosing League Pass may well be the most cost-efficient means of watching the 2022-23 NBA season.
The service allows you to watch every match of the season on the internet, as well as granting you access to the NBA TV channel, which streams news, statistics and highlights 24/7.
There are two main packages – League Pass and League Pass Premium. The base League Pass costs AU $21.99 a month (AU $154.99 annually), allowing you to stream NBA on only one screen. League Pass Premium costs $29.99 a month (AU $209.99 annually), which allows you to watch on up to two screens simultaneously.
If you only follow a specific NBA team, there is a cheaper option still. Team Pass gives you all the games from the one team you choose to follow for AU $19.99 a month (AU $119.99 annually). However, if you are able to get every game for an extra two dollars a month, it may well be better to pay that little bit extra.
There is also a 7-day free trial for new customers.

Basketball is one of the fastest growing sports in Australia. Over 1.3 million people play the sport in Australia in 2022, with almost a quarter of this figure being children.
With this push comes an increase in the calibre of basketball; Australia’s national basketball team the ‘Boomers’ came third at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, and there are more players that ever that play in the premier basketball league in the world, the National Basketball Association (NBA).
There are currently ten Australian players in the NBA for the 2022-23 season, from No.1 overall picks to crafty NBA veterans.
Read on as DMARGE gives you a breakdown of which Australians play in the NBA and how they compare to the rest of the roster.
Ben Simmons

Ben Simmons is an all-star point guard/small forward who plays for the Brooklyn Nets and is perhaps the most famous Australian player ever to play in the NBA.
Chosen with the No. 1 overall pick by the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2016 NBA Draft, Melbourne-born Simmons sat out his first year with a foot injury but returned the next season for a big first year, winning the title of ‘2018 Rookie of the Year’.
The next three seasons Simmons came into his own as an individual: he became an all-star, achieved the most steals of any player in the league in 2020, and was voted on to the all-NBA third team, ranking him as a top-15 player in the league.
Although he achieved a number of personal accolades, as a team, the Philadelphia 76ers struggled in the playoffs, not making it past the conference semi-finals three years in a row. Ben Simmons was heavily criticised by coaches, teammates and analysts alike for passing up an open dunk in Game 7 against the Atlanta Hawks in 2021, instead choosing to pass the ball.
In response to the criticism, a reported back injury and mental health issues, Simmons declared his intentions to be traded from the team and sat out of the 2021-22 NBA season. He became the most fined player in NBA history for his refusal to play, with reports estimating his “stalemate” costing up to $10 million.
The 76ers eventually traded Simmons to the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for former MVP James Harden, in a package deal.
Simmons made his debut for the Nets after the 2022-23 NBA season had started, scoring six points, five assists and four rebounds in a 127-108 loss to his former team the Philadelphia 76ers in a preseason game.
Early performances this season have not given us much of an indication as to how Simmons will do in the 2022-23 NBA season. But one thing is for sure, we’ve got to stop giving our boy Ben such a hard time, time to let his basketball do the talking.
Josh Giddey

Joshua “Josh” Giddey is a point guard for the Oklahoma City Thunder.
One of Australia’s brightest young talents, he was drafted with the No. 6 overall pick by the Thunder in 2021. He previously played for the Adelaide 36ers in the NBL before taking his talents to America.
In his first season in the NBA, he became the youngest player in NBA history to record a triple-double (double digit totals in at least three of five stats – points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks), aged only 19 years and 84 days.
He also became the first man since NBA Hall of Famer Oscar Robertson to record three consecutive triple-doubles as a rookie.
He struggled with injuries nearer the end of the season but was still awarded the Western Conference Rookie of the Month award four times over the course of the year.
The future is bright for the young man from Melbourne, and everyone is very excited to see what Giddey can do with the Thunder’s new big-man acquisition Chet Holmgren. Is this the beginning of the NBA’s next big one-two punch?
Dyson Daniels

Dyson Daniels is a shooting guard/small forward who plays for the New Orleans Pelicans. He was drafted with the No. 8 overall pick in the 2022 NBA draft.
Born and raised in Bendigo, Victoria, Daniels was proficient in both basketball and Australian rules football, before eventually settling for hoops instead of posts. He played for the semi-professional Bendigo Braves aged only 16.
Rather than going to an American college, Daniels instead chose to sign for NBA G League Ignite, a team in the NBA’s developmental league, averaging 12 points, 7.1 rebounds and 5.1 assists.
He joined the Pelicans for the 2022 Summer League but suffered an injury which ruled him out.
Regardless, he finds himself in a young squad full of talent including all-stars Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson. It’ll be interesting to see how Daniel’s fits into the Pelicans rotation this season, but he certainly has a lot of potential.
Josh Green

Josh Green is shooting guard currently playing for the Dallas Mavericks. He was drafted No. 18 overall in the 2020 NBA draft.
Sydney-born Green was a multi-sport athlete growing up; by the age of 10 he had been selected to play for New South Wales in a whopping nine sports.
He is a huge AFL fan, with his favourite team being the Sydney Swans. Both the Swans and the Greater Western Sydney Giants offered Green a place in their development academics, but his family moved to Phoenix, Arizona for his father’s job, forcing him to quit the sport.
His time at the Mavericks has been spent playing as a role player for the first team and in the G-League. However, reportedly in the off season he has been working tirelessly with Miami Heat guard Kyle Lowry to improve his game. Mavericks Head Coach Jason Kidd said, “Josh’s work is paying off,” and that he thinks, “it is just the tip of the iceberg for him.”
2022 may be the year we see Josh Green form solid partnerships with Mavericks main man Luka Doncic and fellow guard Spencer Dinwiddie, to take the franchise to the next level.
Joe Ingles

Joseph “Joe” Ingles is originally from Adelaide, and is a shooting guard/small forward for the Milwaukee Bucks.
Going undrafted in 2009 NBA draft, Ingles played in Spain and Turkey before being picked up by the Utah Jazz in 2014. In 2022, he signed a deal with the Milwaukee Bucks worth $6.5 million.
A Jazz stalwart, he played 418 consecutive games for the team from 2014 to 2021, mostly as a ‘sixth man’. His efforts did not go unnoticed, finishing as runner up in for NBA Sixth Man of the Year in 2021 behind teammate Jordan Clarkson.
He is a three-point specialist, having set the record for the most threes in a single game by a Jazz player, scoring eight.
However, he may be better known for being a “troll”, both on and the off the court, with the unique ability of getting under players’ skin. If you have 10-minute YouTube compilations made about you annoying opponents, you must be doing something right.
Jock Landale

Jock Landale is a 6ft 11 in center for the Phoenix Suns.
Originally born in Melbourne, Landale almost gave up basketball at an early age, but a growth spurt seeing him grow almost a full foot between year 9 to year 12 encouraged him to keep playing. He earned a scholarship to play in America for college.
Landale went undrafted in the 2018 NBA Draft, but honed his craft in Europe and back at Melbourne United, winning the NBL Grand Final MVP.
He was also a member of the ‘Boomers’ squad who won bronze at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Off the back of the tournament, the San Antonio Spurs saw young Landale’s potential, signing him to a contract in 2021. After multiple trades, he now plays with Chris Paul and Devin Booker on the title-contending Phoenix Suns.
Will the center find himself with a ring after the 2022-23 NBA season?
Patty Mills

One of the most accomplished Australian NBA players in history, Patty Mills is a point guard who plays for the Brooklyn Nets.
Mills was raised in Canberra; his father is a Torres Straight Islander and his mother an Indigenous Australia. As such, his first basketball experience age four, was playing for a local indigenous club.
In 2006, he was the youngest athlete selected for the Australian Boomers squad for the FIBA World Championship, aged only 18. This made him only the third athlete of aboriginal decent to play for the national team – his uncle was the second. He would later go on to captain the team to the bronze medal – as Australia’s flag bearer – at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
Playing college ball in America, the Portland Trailblazers gave Mills a chance, selecting him with the No. 55 overall pick in the 2009 NBA draft.
However, it was not until he reached the San Antonio Spurs in 2012 that he really came into his own. Playing in back-to-back NBA finals in 2013 and 2014 against LeBron James and the Miami Heat, Mills played a key role off the bench. In Game 5 of the 2014 NBA Finals, Mills scored 14 of his 17 total points in the third quarter, helping to win the Spurs the championship 4-1.
In 2021, he set the record for most three points made in NBA history as a reserve, and the only Australian to make over 1000 threes in the league.
He now plays for the Brooklyn Nets alongside Ben Simmons and other NBA superstars Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant.
What a career Patty!
Matisse Thybulle

Matisse Thybulle is a shooting guard/small forward for the Philadelphia 76ers in the NBA.
Originally born in America, but emigrating to Sydney when he was two, he did not play much basketball whilst down under, instead preferring swimming. Moving back to America when he was eight, he eventually went on to play for University of Washington, being voted as the best defensive player of the year for 2018-19.
Wanting to add a strong defensive presence, he was selected by the 76ers with the No. 20 overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft.
His first season was tumultuous, being played during the Covid-19 pandemic. But he found a way to entertain the masses, with his vlog style videos when games were being played behind closed doors during the 2020 NBA bubble.
Thybulle is proud of his Australian roots and was a part of the Boomers squad who won bronze at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Jack White

No, not the guitarist. Jack White is small forward for the Denver Nuggets.
Originally a native of Tralalgon, Victoria, White played basketball at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra, before being scouted to play for Duke University, alongside future NBA talent Zion Williamson, R.J. Barrett and Cam Reddish.
He went undrafted in the 2020 NBA Draft, so decided to return to Australia to play for Melbourne United in the NBL, winning the championship in 2021. Impressing scouts there, the Denver Nuggets picked him up in July 2022.
He plays for both the Nuggets and G-League affiliate Grand Rapids Gold and is turning heads with his ridiculous shooting accuracy in training.
If he is able to carry this into games, he may well land himself a regular spot on the Nuggets roster this season.
Matthew Dellavedova

Saving one of the best for last, Matthew Dellavedova is a point guard for the Sacramento Kings in the NBA.
Originally from Maryborough, Victoria he played multiple sports growing up before settling on basketball, playing at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra.
Dellavedova moved to America to play for Saint Mary’s College (the same as Patty Mills and Jack Landale) and after four years there, left as the college’s all-time leader in scoring, assists, games played, free throw percentage and three-point shots.
Despite all of these accolades, he went undrafted in the 2013 NBA Draft, but was given a chance by the Cleveland Cavaliers (and I bet they are glad that they did).
Dellavedova became an integral part of the Cavaliers rotation for their trips to the NBA finals in 2015 and 2016. In the latter, the Cavaliers became the first team in history to come back from 3-1 down to win the NBA championship.
After playing for the Milwaukee Bucks and Cleveland once again, he eventually moved back to Australia to play for Melbourne United, winning the championship in 2021-22.
Clearly not content with his NBA career so far, Dellavedova signed with the Sacramento Kings in the summer, marking his return to the NBA.
An aggressive defender, Dellavedova has often been labelled as a “dirty player” by opponents, but praised as “playing hard” by others. Regardless of what side of the coin you stand on, he may be exactly what the Kings need to improve their shoddy defence.
And before you stand to correct us – yes, we know Kyrie Irving was born in Australia, but he plays for the United States national team, so we chose not to include him.

Who is Jock Landale?

Jock Landale is an Australian professional basketball player, who plays center for the Phoenix Suns in the NBA.
He went undrafted in the 2018 NBA Draft but went on to hone his craft in Europe and back in Australia in the National Basketball League (NBL). He won the NBL with Melbourne United in 2021 and was also the NBL Grand Final MVP.
His efforts saw him picked up by the San Antonio Spurs of the NBA. He now plays with Chris Paul and Devin Booker on the title-contending Phoenix Suns.
Early Years
Jock Landale was born on 25 October 1995. He was raised in Geelong, Victoria and attended the Geelong Grammar School in Corio, Victoria.
He began playing basketball at an early age, playing with the Geelong basketball program. Starting to drift away from basketball, a growth spurt between year 9 and year 12 saw him grow almost a full foot, which seemingly reignited his passion for the game.
This helped to raise his profile, securing him a scholarship in 2014 to NCAA Division 1 Saint Mary’s College, in California. Other Australian basketball stars Patty Mills and Matthew Dellavedova also attended the college.
College career

Jock spent most of his freshman season on the bench, but enjoyed breakouts seasons in his second and third year.
In 2017, Saint Mary’s reached the NCAA tournament, a big achievement for the college and Landale was named in he first-team All-West Coast Conference.
His senior year was described by Damian Arenis of The Pick and Roll as, “what could be argued, the best season by any Australian in college basketball ever.”
Landale averaged a huge 21.5 points, 10.2 rebounds and 1.1 blocked shots per game and was named West Coast Conference player of the year. That year, Saint Marys also went on to win 18 games in a row, with Landale as their centrepiece.
This earned him comparison to former Australian No. 1 pick Andrew Bogut. However, despite Landale having an excellent post-game ability and three-point shooting credentials, scouts were worried that Landale’s athleticism – or lack thereof – may not translate to the modern NBA.
Early professional career
This showed at the 2018 NBA Draft, where Jock Landale went undrafted. He later described the draft night as leaving a “filthy taste in [his] mouth.”
Determined not to let it stop him, Jock Landale went on to play in Europe, for Serbian team Partizan, of the Adriatic Basketball Association (ABA). Following some nasty dunks on his opponents, and a season where he averaged 12 points a game, Landale was selected as one of the five best players in the ABA.
He also played for Lithuanian team Žalgiris, helping guide the team to a championship victory in Lithuania’s top division in 2020.
Landale returned to his native Australia, signing a one-year deal with Melbourne United in the NBL. Whilst there, he and the team won the 2021 NBL Grand Final, beating the defending champions, the Perth Wildcats. He also won the NBL Grand Final MVP Award and was awarded Melbourne United MVP for that season.
NBA career

His standout inaugural season in the NBL turned the heads of a number of NBA scouts, and Landale finally achieved his dream of playing in the NBA when he was signed to the San Antonio Spurs.
Joining the NBA proved to be a high learning curve. In an interview with ESPN, he said, “Having my minutes so erratic is the biggest lesson I’ve learned about myself… you’ve just got to be able to figure it our for yourself.”
Despite this, he established himself as the Spurs’ back-up center, averaging seven points and four rebounds from December 2021 to mid-January 2022. In March, Landale recorded a career-high 26 points against the Indiana Pacers.
In June, he was traded to the Atlanta Hawks in a package featuring NBA all-star Dejounte Murray. A week later, he was then traded to the Phoenix Suns for cash considerations.
Phoenix seems like a great destination for Landale, he has, by his own admission, more freedom on the court and gets to play with all-stars Chris Paul and Devin Booker.
This has shown in his performances; on his birthday – 25 October 2022 – Landale recorded a monster performance against Steph Curry and the defending champions, the Golden State Warriors, recording 17 points and 7 blocks in only 22 minutes of play off the bench.
In an interview after the game, Landale joked, “I’m a terrible basketball player, but [the] point guards make me look good.”
Australian Boomers

Jock Landale has also enjoyed a prosperous career with the ‘Boomers’, Australia’s national basketball team.
He was a member of the team that won the bronze medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. Hopefully this is the first of many medals to come in the green and gold.
He also was the starting power forward for the Australian Boomers at the 2019 FIBA World Cup.
Jock Landale’s salary
Jock Landale signed a two-year contract with San Antonio Spurs – before being traded to Phoenix – worth $4,544,095 (AU $6,995,179) over two years.
This means for the 2022-23 NBA season, the Australian will earn $1,563,518 (AU $2,406,879).
Jock Landale’s Fiancée

Jock Landale is in a long-time relationship with fellow Australian India Maddern. The two went to high school together but supposedly they “never spoke”.
Landale has said, “She’s my best mate I’m extremely lucky to have fund her and it’s probably a good thing we didn’t speak back in high school,”
Jock Landale proposed to Maddern in January 2022, in New York’s Central Park.
Jock Landale Stats
Jock Landale only has one full season in the NBA to his name right now, and he’s only part way through the 2022-23 season, so his stats make for very light, albeit impressive reading.
Games Played: 59
Games Started: 1
Minutes Per Game (Average): 11.4
Field Goal %: 49.0
3-Point %: 30.1
Points Per Game (Average): 5.3
Rebounds Per Game (Average): 2.8
Assists Per Game (Average): 0.8

Elon Musk, the often-controversial richest man in the world, has reportedly laid out plans to show 75% of Twitter’s employees the door as soon as he takes charge of the social media platform.
Just weeks after he announced his intentions to effectively eradicate all other social media platforms with his own “Everything App,” Elon Musk now plans to eradicate three-quarters of Twitter’s payroll, according to The Washington Post.
Said Twitter employees are safe, for now, as Elon will only incite the mass firing once he formally takes over Twitter and signs over the $44 billion he promised to pay in April 2022. The takeover bid in itself has been the source of controversy, as Elon initially wanted to back out of the deal, but a contract is a contract, and so he will still have to stump up the cash. The deadline has been set for October 28th.
Bloomberg claims (via The Verge) that Twitter “froze its employee’s equity awards,” which has been taken as an assumed sign the deal will indeed go ahead. It’s also claimed, via anonymous sources to The Washington Post, that Twitter had always planned to lay off a good chunk of its staff as soon as Mr Musk assumed office.
However, these plans reportedly only wanted to say sayonara to around a quarter of Twitter’s payroll, saving the company some $800 million per annum. Elon is expected to go much further, which the former head of Twitter’s spam and health metrics said was “unimaginable,” in an interview with The Post.

What does this mean for you if you’re a Twitter user? According to The Verge, the lack of bodies at Twitter could result in “more hacks”… Considering one of Musk’s major sticking points with Twitter has been the lack of security and the rampant number of bots on the platform, it seems that laying off so many employees would be counter-productive to his goals.
RELATED: What Did Kanye West Say On Twitter To Get His Account Blocked?
It could also potentially lead to even more staff choosing to walk away, as Elon is said to want to introduce stack ranking, a process that requires each unit’s management team review and rate an employee’s performance. It’s said this can lead to competition, rather than collaboration, between staff.
Perhaps Elon’s master plan is for Twitter to implode on itself, forcing people to move to his own app in the future?
The Tesla founder just can’t seem to keep himself away from the headlines. If it’s not laying off the bulk of his staff, it’s releasing a fragrance that smells like burnt hair (which has now sold out). Just another day in Elonland…

Like the majority of other Formula 1 drivers, de Vries began his racing career in karting, entering competitions from the age of nine. He claimed multiple world titles, including winning the Karting World Championship in back-to-back years in 2010 and 2011.
This string of victories caught the attention of Formula 1 scouts, and de Vries was signed to the McLaren Young Driver Programme. Whilst there, he was coached by Lewis Hamilton’s dad Anthony Hamilton, who tried who tried to get him into F1.
Early Racing Career

After his karting career, Nyck de Vries switched to single seater cars and began racing in the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 in 2012. Ever the winner, he won the Championship in his third season.
In 2014, that same year, he also won the now defunct Formula Renault 2.0 Alps competition; given circuit races are prohibited in Switzerland, the races take place on alpine courses. Out of 14 podiums, he only failed to make it twice, finishing ahead of current Ferrari F1 driver Charles Leclerc.
Later teaming up with Leclerc and Williams F1 driver Alexander Albon, a strong rookie season in the 2016 GP3 series earned him a place in Formula Two for 2017.
Formula Two
In his rookie F2 Season, de Vries finished in seventh place, placing second highest of all the first-year racers.
In 2018, he was able to improve upon the results, challenging for the title until the last round of the season. He ultimately finished in fourth place behind George Russell, Lando Norris and Alexander Albon, all of whom would be recruited to F1 teams that year.
Despite this setback, Nyck de Vries’ third season in F2 proved to be his best, getting back to his winning ways. He placed first in four races on his way to the 2019 F2 Drivers’ championship.
It was at this time that he joined up with the Audi Sport racing academy, ending a nine-year partnership with McLaren.

Formula E
After once again failing to find a seat in Formula One after his F2 victory, Nyck de Vries signed with the Mercedes-Benz EQ Formula E Team for the 2019-20 Formula E season and finished the season in eleventh position.
It was not until his second season in Formula E that de Vries really came into his own. He finished the campaign with a total of 99 points having scored two wins and four podiums, winning his first ever Championship in Formula E. Mercedes also won their first Constructor’s Championship.
Formula 1
Finally, someone gave de Vries a chance in F1, becoming the test and reserve driver for the Mercedes F1 team.
He made his Formula One practice debut at the 2022 Spanish Grand Prix, replacing Alexander Albon, an event which would play out for real later in the season. He also ran practice sessions at Mercedes in seven-time world champion Sir Lewis Hamilton’s car, and at Aston Martin.
However, his first proper taste of Formula 1 would come in September 2022, when Williams driver Alex Albon developed appendicitis and was ruled out of the Italian Grand Prix. de Vries took his place, managing to qualify thirteenth.
In a huge effort for his first race, Nyck de Vries finished in an impressive ninth position, scoring points on his race debut and more points that teammate Nicolas Latifi had done all season (ouch!).

After this stellar effort, AlphaTauri finally granted Nyck de Vries a well-deserved seat for the upcoming 2023 Formula One Season.
Nyck de Vries’ Girlfriend
Nyck de Vries has been dating professional model Eva Bruggenwirth, who also hails from The Netherlands. The pair having been together for over four years, with rumours of their relationship having started in 2018.
According to her Instagram, she is a social media and content editor at jewellery and homeware company Anna + Nina.

Nyck de Vries’ Net Worth
Nyck de Vries is reported to be worth anywhere from $1 million – $5 million. His salary for the 2021-22 Formula E season was reportedly as high as $850,000.
There are still no reports about how much de Vries will be paid for his upcoming season at AlphaTauri.
Nyck de Vries’ Endorsements
Nyck de Vries does not only have an endorsement deal with Mercedes. The Dutch driver is also sponsored by Vestas, Tommy Hilfiger and SAP.
With all eyes on the rookie next season, will he be able to replicate his early success in F1?

Your daily cup of hot brown could be just as much to blame for disrupting your meal plan as your Friday night beers, research suggests.
If you’re someone who puts a lot of effort into planning and sticking to a gym workout but you’re finding that you’re making little to no progress (even despite following a strict meal plan) – you may be forgetting about your daily coffee intake. Especially if you’re a latte drinker.
Now, we’re not demonising latte drinkers at all, but as one DMARGE correspondent recently revealed to us, a traditional latte can have anywhere between 150-200 calories, depending on the size and if you add anything extra such as sugar or sweetener. If you prefer your latte to be flavoured with vanilla or caramel syrup, for example, this figure will only stand to increase.
In fact, Healthline states a non-fat 8oz latte (traditionally a small in Australia) will have around 72 calories, while a flavoured 8oz latte will contain around 134.
If you then have just one a day, every day of the week, you’re looking at close to 1,000 calories consumed, just from coffee alone. No amount of steamed chicken or squats is going to offset that.

DMARGE has previously discussed how coffee can stop you getting shredded, in the context of someone choosing a coffee and a ‘healthy snack’ over a larger lunch, based on the belief that it will be healthier. And even then it was deemed a ‘proper’ lunch is always going to prevail.
And what of milk alternatives such as Australia’s favourite, oat milk? How much do they influence the caloric content of your daily dose of caffeine?
Let’s crunch some numbers.
L’Or Espresso says a typical latte will have between 170 – 225ml of milk. Healthline adds that a 240ml serving of Oatly oat milk has 120 calories, meaning 1 calorie per 2ml of milk. So, if you went in at the top end and added 225ml of Oatly oat milk to your coffee, that’s 112.5 calories. The double shot of espresso will only rack up around 4 calories, bringing the total to 116.5 calories, for one oat milk latte.
RELATED: ‘Oat Is The New Almond’: The Coffee Trend Australia Can’t Get Enough Of
Two oat milk lattes a day, every day of the week, and that’s 1,631 calories you’ve racked up. Now, if you’re on a meal plan designed to help you bulk up – such as Chris Hemsworth’s 4,500 calorie per day feast – then 1,600 calories aren’t going to eat too much into it. But if you’re on a more ‘normal’ meal plan of, say, 1,800 calories per day, then your coffee habit could equate, over the course of a week, to an extra day’s worth of meals.
So why do we still consume coffee with abandon and forget to give much thought to what we’re actually putting into our bodies?

DMARGE spoke to Ben Lucas, former NRL player and founder of Flow Athletic, to get his two cents on whether we should rethink our relationship with coffee or if we should still be allowed a little bit of good in our lives.
Ben says firstly, “if you have one or two coffees a day and you really enjoy them, then I say go for it. Having a coffee in the morning is often a relaxing, mindful moment for someone before they start their day – however, there are two things you should consider.”
“The first one is, if you are very stressed or if you are drinking lots of coffee, then that can spike your cortisol levels and keep them spiked.”
Ben Lucas
“While a bit of cortisol (which is the hormone released when you add stress to your body, such as momentarily during a HIIT workout or if you’re running away from a deadly animal) is absolutely fine… But having it high for a long period of time can affect digestion, so you may put on weight, often around your stomach.
“It can also affect your sleep and your mood, etc. If you are heavily stressed or drinking too much coffee, then you may want to be more mindful of your lifestyle in general.”

“Additionally, consider what is going into your coffee,” he advises. “Are you adding cream, syrups, sugar? If you are then calorie-wise, you may want to change up your order to something more simple and less sweet.”

And for those of you who think they can effectively cheat the system, and use the calorie intake from your weekly coffee ritual as part of an overall weekly calorie intake, think again.
“I wouldn’t [replace food with coffee],” says Ben, “I would aim to cut down. Aim to have 1-2 normal-sized coffees and follow a healthy diet. Coffee alone does have some antioxidants, but having that instead of food is not really a balanced diet.”

Ben’s recommendation if you simply can’t resist your caffeine cravings? “Aim to have a coffee with a splash of milk and no sugar, a black coffee or a simple flat white.”
Is it time we said see ya later to the latte, then?

One of football’s biggest stars has left fans bemused after wearing a surprisingly cheap watch to the 2022 Ballon d’Or award ceremony – a lavish ‘do that normally sees some of the world’s most expensive watches on parade.
The 34-year-old Polish striker, who plays for FC Barcelona, captains the Polish national football team and has a net worth of over US$85 million, made the odd decision to wear a Casio Vintage A158WETG-9AVT to the “Oscars of football” on Monday night… A watch that’s easily found at malls and market stalls across the world, and would probably only set you back around US$70.
In comparison, Karim Benzema – who ultimately won the 2022 Ballon d’Or, arguably pipping Lewandowski in the process – wore a rather lavish Richard Mille RM 65-01 Automatic Winding Split-Seconds Chronograph, the most complex timepiece the prestigious Swiss brand has ever made with a market price north of half a million USD.
Maybe Lewy should’ve worn a more expensive watch… Ah well, he still won the Gerd Müller Trophy (previously known as Striker of the Year) on the night.

Still, it’s a respectable and practical watch that no true watch enthusiast would ever knock. Modelled after Casio’s popular square digital watches from the 80s, this A158WETG features a resin case and stainless steel bracelet with a gold ion coating… Not quite the same as a PVD or solid gold watch, but it still looks the part.
Actually, it’s kind of the perfect watch for a high-performance athlete. It only weighs 45 grams, it’s water-resistant to 100m, it’s got a battery life of 7 years and has plenty of useful functions like a stopwatch.

Not all of Lewandowski’s are quite as low-key, however. He wore a Patek Philippe Nautilus Chronograph (ref. 5980/1R-001) to last year’s Ballon d’Or, and he owns a boatload of Audemars Piguet pieces, too.

Global megastar David Beckham and LIV Golf founder Greg Norman have both filed a lawsuit against Australian-based F45 for a sum in excess of $20 million, due to the fitness company – which has Mark Wahlberg on its list of investors – allegedly failing to pay equity payments and compensation.
According to legal documents, which have been obtained by The Blast, both David Beckham and former professional Australian golfer Greg Norman are claiming neither of them have been paid money essentially promised to them, in return for their promotion of the F45 brand – founded by Rob Deutsch – to help it break into America.
Golden Balls and The Shark have promoted F45 through their social channels, in print media and through our marketing channels. Beckham is claimed to have been promised $1.5 million each year in return for his promotional services, along with a percentage of the company’s stock, says The Blast. Norman’s annual fee is unknown.
The lawsuit, which represents both sporting stars, claims F45’s relationship with the duo “enhanced its public profile and credibility and helped roll out new fitness offerings for F45,” which are said to be significant contributing factors in F45’s valuation in 2021 when it went public. The valuation at this time was nearly three times higher than it was two years prior.
WATCH: David Beckham’s DB45 Workout
Beckham was actually announced as a global partner of F45 in 2021, after having invested in the brand in 2020. As part of his partnership, he posted various images and videos to his social media channels, including those that showed him performing F45 workouts and even developing his own.
At the time of publishing, these posts are still active on David’s social accounts.
But lately, things haven’t been going too well for the Australian cult community-based fitness regime. Earlier in 2022, F45’s share price began to plummet and in recent weeks, became subject of a $385 million takeover bid by Kennedy Lewis Investment Management LP, already an investor in the fitness chain.
It’s because of this faltering that has caused F45 to withhold payments from Beckham and Norman. Beckham also claims, as per The Blast, “the company failed to issue him shares of the company which was contractually obligated.”
“As a result, David says the value of the stock dropped making his share ‘approximately $11.33 million as of the First Vesting Date, January 15, 2022. By September 23, 2022, however, their value had dropped precipitously and was approximately $1.97 million-a mere fraction of the value (Beckham’s Company) would have received had F45 timely complied with its contractual obligations.'”
Becks adds that other investors in F45 have been given preferential treatment, including Mark Wahlberg, ” to allow them to profit more from their ownership.”
